always thought this line was funny considering there’s Plenty of instances of kim calling harry his partner, and harry of course refers to kim as his partner all the time.
most of these i’d interpret as kim referring to him in a case-partner sense— i imagine that it’s a pretty common occurrence for non-partnered officers to pair up with each other on big cases considering kim mentioning that certain procedures (field autopsies, death notifications, etc) require two officers by RCM protocol.
but there’s a couple examples where it feels more… deliberate?
it intrigues me that the best example i could find of kim asserting him and harry’s partnership is from apologizing to him after the most egregious way you can fuck up your relationship to him in the game.
kim never ‘corrects’ harry anywhere else other than that convo with jean. kim seems to already be falling into viewing him and harry as official partners— only becoming self-conscious of it when suddenly faced with harry’s “actual” partner. his protest in front of jean feels like he’s correcting himself just as much as harry.
i dunno if i have any big conclusion i was trying to reach here, i just always found the line funny and even more telling when i looked up just how much he contradicts it everywhere else in-game. spongebob meme vc you likeee me don’t you lieutenant.
bonus result that doesn’t have anything to do with the rest really but i didn’t know you could tie at suzerainty and i’ve never seen this dialogue before. kim.

how jade & the harpers look according to my brain:
jade — skin is a warm tan, smooth to the touch. beauty mark beneath the corner of her right eye. wavy, black hair that stops just below mid-back, cut in layers for volume. lips are plush, usually painted with red or nude gloss. long eyelashes. green eyes with golden flecks that convey her emotions and thoughts better than words can. a small tattoo of a pink lotus flower on her left breast, and a faded scar on her sternum from vandal savage. lean, curvy build, but one cannot accurately gage her strength by looking at her, unless they’re prone to underestimate. gold hoops, gold bracelets, gold necklaces—all gold jewelry.
roy — sporting a perpetual tan, one might call him sun-kissed. auburn hair that lightens to ginger in the summertime, straight and pushed back by sunglasses. nose is crooked from one too many injuries. silver hoops or studs in his ears, depending on the day. eyes the color of a lake, blueish-green. light dusting of freckles on his skin, particularly his back. beard that tows the line between stubble and scruff. the physique of a rugby player; thick arms and legs but softer stomach, broad shoulders. several scars all over his body, most notably the bullet wounds & surgery scar on his chest. two tattoos: navajo one on his right arm and lian’s initials over his heart.
lian — face is her mother’s but younger, softened by lingering baby fat, and dotted with a light smattering of freckles. skin is a light, warm beige. hazel-colored eyes and full lashes. dark brown, nearly black hair with a brown balayage, usually tied back in a ponytail or braid unless at an event or hanging with friends. double pierced ears and a cartilage piercing on the left ear. she smiles like roy. athletic build, only a few inches shorter than jade but gaining on her. couple of scars on legs and fading bruises from playing sports (lacrosse, skateboarding, etc.). always has one headphone in her ear. combines metals when she wears jewelry.

happy wip wednesday everyone here’s a snippet of this a quick little roy ficlet i was working on!
“Keeley, who eventually realized like everyone else that Roy—plain, simple, clingy, needy, unbearable Roy—wasn’t worthy of that kind of love.
He had convinced himself he’d never find that kind of love again. That comfort, that safety, that closeness. A person who loved him not because he was Roy Fucking Kent, but just because he was Roy. He had convinced himself being just Roy would never really be enough for anyone. But then there was Jamie.”

I think it probably is more likely that Falin chimera was purposely trying to disarm Laios by crying for help, rather than that part actually being genuine. Cause it happens at a moment when she’s temporarily disarmed from being electrocuted and then she does make a smug face afterwards. But I’m sentimental and I Want To Believe
Uhh it could also maybe be both? Like both an intentional tactic (from the dragon side?) and also a sign that at least some part of Falin is in there and wants to be saved
The way they animate it, her eyes go from dragon-like slitted pupils to normal round pupils as she says it. And then a tear falls from one eye, while the other eye stays completely dry
Looking at all that again with a bit more context and possibly a clearer mind, that looks like it’s all to make the ruse look more realistic. If it were more of an outburst as I originally believed (or was trying to convince myself), then the pupils wouldn’t have changed probably? It seems like an intentional move
In addition to the pupil change, the single tear seems forced as well. Like she could only muster up one fake tear while the other eye remained completely dry.
On the other hand…it’s kinda hard to force tears at all, especially so quickly. And if we imagine for the moment that the tear was genuine, could the fact that it only fell from one eye mean that only half of her was crying? Like maybe the dragon is really mostly in control, but it let Falin out as an emotional manipulation tactic. Meaning that the cry was both genuine and just a combat strategy/self-defense measure.
And I’m still not sure what to make of the fact that she pushes Laios out of the way before crushing Kabru. Like was it just an accident then? Or is it more just a side effect of Laios being essentially the main character and no one in the main party gets killed in that scene? Or…could it still be that maybe, deep down, Falin doesn’t want to hurt her brother?
