Hi Lena! I dug through the Halek tag and didn't find it but I'm curious, does his stag have a name? Do hunters of the reach have a close bond with their animals or no, and does/did every exorcist of the reach have their own stag or is that Sol Privilege?
Hi bi, thanks for your question! Halek's elk is named Iakul, while Naolin's is named Yakun. (These are common kid's names for elks in the Reach, similar to naming your dogs "Fido" and "Lucky"). The Hunters of the Reach venerate their yakku steeds and tend to treat them with the respect of knights with their horses, so they do share a close bond, but they are definitely treated as working animals and not pets! Every ordained exorcist in the Reach is given a yakku steed if they want one (not all necessarily do or fight better on-foot), but some "regular" Hunter people in the North ride them too, particularly those who serve as hunters or scouts! However, they're not seen really at all outside of the Reach, even by Hunter communities outside of it! So it's a Reach thing rather than a sol thing. Hope that makes sense!

‼️IRON FLAME AND FOURTH WING THEORY‼️
[ I’m gonna be discussing Violet being a venin queen, her real parents, her real siblings and Naolin ]
While I’m on the topic of iron flame... I dont think ive seen this theory anywhere but i think Violet is royalty of some sort and either her parents/one of her parents weren’t who they said they were or Lilith Sorrengail and her husband weren’t her real parents. Or at least one of them wasn’t.
I say this because it’s clear from the beginning she is different… the silver hair, the weak limbs, the ability to bond two dragons when no other human has and the fact that the venin want her bought to their leader alive but why ???
A lot of people are saying it is because her signet can destroy venin and that’s why they want her but I think it goes a lot deeper than that. An explanation could be that she is a BORN VENIN either from Lilith being poisoned by venin while pregnant or her real birth parents. But someone I saw on TikTok said that wouldn’t make sense because it is a physical energy of power but either way I could still see this happening. So where does the royalty part come in…
Well, there is a lot of symbolic references to royalty with Violet :
. her crown braided hair
. *that* throne scene
. her bonding two dragons
. the theory about andarna being royalty
. Xaden being the “king” of Aretia
. Cat previously being engaged to Xaden because she was of “high status” then throwing it in Violets face that she is not special and therefore will not get the throne
. her being able to get through the guarded archives with Aaric when she is not royal blood ( I can’t find it in the book but I’m pretty sure they chose him to get through because he is a prince and could go through the door but then he dragged Violet and she mysteriously made it through ??? )
All of this here I would like to call foreshadowing… Would it be insane to think that Violet is a princess/queen and maybe her father is still alive or her real parents are?
It is said that Lilith never much liked Violet but in the end we found out she really did love her - but you can still love a child even if they don’t share the same blood.
Going back to the theory of her being venin, keep in mind mavens have never been discovered and anything further along the hierarchy of them has also never been discovered. Could it be that the venins have a royal family where their ruler produced a child with a human and that child was given away for protection or in hopes that one day they would discover the truth and defeat the venin and over throw the royal family to cure venin??? And violets father was preparing her for this by teaching her about venin and giving her the knowledge of a scribe and her mother making sure she became a rider to go to war.

I saw another theory that Violet can cure venin so maybe the royal family of venin also have the power to cure venin and that’s where she gets it from ??
Also TAIRN CALLS HER SILVER 1 AND KNOWS EXACTLY WHAT SHE IS !! And could this be because she holds some sort of resemblance to his previous rider… Naolin? Is she related to Naolin? I won’t discuss this now but I personally think she is related to him somehow and he is still alive and she’ll come face to face with him in an upcoming book.
Violet is something so let’s assume she is venin royalty and that is why she is wanted alive…
And I know someone will say that if she is venin then she can’t bond with a dragon which she obviously can so I say that she is half venin and half human and has all the power of a venin and a rider which makes her perfect to defeat venin.
All of this would perfectly describe the fable of the barrens where the lightning wielder (Violet) had two siblings, one a griffon rider and a jealous sibling who became venin that couldn’t bond. So the lightning wielder murdered the jealous sibling at a cost… foreshadowing again…
I am quite certain that this story is in fact a prophecy… but Mira and Brennan are both riders so this confirms that Violet has a sibling who is a griffon rider and a sibling who is a venin and there will be a bloody battle between these siblings !!!!!
I don’t know but in my head I’ve built up this story where a human got together with a venin prince/princess and had a child but gave the child away to protect her and prepare her as she is the destined one to stop this war. That baby is Violet….
Going on to the topic of her two other siblings the griffon rider could be cat but cat looks very similar to her own sister but it still could be possible that syrena is cats half sister and Violet is her other half sister. I’m more interested to find out who the jealous sibling is but I don’t think we have been introduced to this brother/sister yet. One crazy thought that came in to my mind is Jack Barlowe…. that would be such a good plot twist. Another is Naolin since the fandom has almost agreed he is still alive and is venin but none of this has been confirmed.
Anyway my whole point is Violet is going to crown herself queen of the venins but what would happen to her being Xadens consort? Well she could destroy the whole venin species on her own and that would be the ultimate clap back at cat basically saying to her “haha I am a queen so of course I am fit to marry a king” bringing their courts together. This could lead to the result of the end of the Navarre kingdom and Violet and Xaden bring their courts together to take over Navarre.
I know I’ve probably made some mistakes within this massive theory so pls correct me if I’m wrong about anything :)

After all the danger, all the stumbling in the dark, Aeryn thought that for once in her tragic life she would be grateful to feel the touch of snow. Feel the cool, crisp air against her back. Inhale a breath of oxygen that doesn’t feel heavy and leaden with death.
Uncharacteristically, she was wrong.
As soon as she is pulled from the cave, her hands and knees on the ground, the snow begins to soak her clothes. The wind chill bites at her nose, her cheeks, her exposed ears. Instead, she feels even more like death.
But then Halek is there. The weight off her back lifts and it is all Aeryn can do from falling over right there beside him.
His hands, slender and soothing, cup her face. She can feel the warmth of his breath on her lips like a sip of fresh water.
"I could kiss you right now, you god-sent Shepherd!”
Against her will, the muscles of her face contort into what she’s sure must be a clumsy display of a smile. She tries to open her eyes to see him but is blinded by the light and closes them back again. She settles for leaning forward to allow herself rest against his forehead. Halek continues to offer praise, seemingly unaware of this.
“…You've done it. You've saved my people."
A smirk curls her lips apart but she is far too relieved to properly play coy. “A kiss, you said? Well, don’t let me stop you.”
Faintly, she registers some sort of sound from Naolin behind her. In her exhaustion she cannot tell if it is derision or exasperation. Halek chuckles and she feels suddenly as though she may melt right into him.
“Perhaps another time.”
That, she thinks, is where it started. Her…fondness of him. Her curiosity about him. Never had she been one to pursue yet whenever she could, there she was. Smirking and teasing and asking.
Aeryn thrums with an anxious excitement whenever he is near. Insatiable curiosity had always been more of Red’s fatal flaw yet she found herself unable to care. Soon, a dance began to form between them. A stolen look across the courtyard, a smirk more sincere as a parting gift, secret nights spent trading playful comments and wistful hypotheticals.
Some might say that their relationship seemed to change overnight. Aeryn doesn’t think so. Since the moment she met him she’d say there was something there. She’s not sure what exactly but something so palpable and tangible she felt she could reach out and touch it.
The night was warm as she stepped out into it. Nights like these aren’t uncommon for her. Sleep is elusive on the best of days. Frankly, she’s just grateful it keeps the nightmares away.
She only meant to take a stroll around the compound, maybe expel the rest of her energy with the task. Her feet sink into the grass, still wet with the remnants of the day’s rain. The heel of her shoes click quietly against the stone floor when she crosses the courtyard. She turns a corner to head to the kitchen but is stopped by a tall, looming figure already slumped against the wall.
Neither of them say a word—likely trying to gauge each other out. No features can be discerned in the darkness until the clouds part to allow the moonlight to illuminate their face.
He takes a slow drag from his cigar, blowing the smoke past his lips. “You’re up late.” Is all he says in greeting.
Aeryn snorts in dry amusement and looks pointedly at the cigar dangling between his fingers. “And you’re smoking? In this heat? Seriously, Halek?”
The Hunter merely shrugs and Aeryn frowns as the smoke reaches her nostrils. The smell burns them slightly and she turns away from it. “What?” He smirks and she can hear the tease in his tone. “You going to lecture me on my health and performance the way Blade does?”
She rolls her eyes and leans back against the opposite wall, crossing her arms casually. “Please, you know I could care less what other people do with their time.”
Halek hums in apparent agreement.
“What are you doing out here, anyway?”
“I thought you didn’t care what other people do with their time?”
She closes her mouth, swallowing her initial objection and clicks her tongue. He smirks and takes another drag. This time, he tips his face up to blow the smoke in a different direction and she tries not to pay attention to pale barred skin of his throat. Hael, she must be insane. That’s all she knows. This is also the moment she notices his state of undress.
His buttons unbuttoned all the way to his chest, his hair messy and uncontrolled like he’s just rolled out of bed. His shirt even gently billows through a suspiciously well-timed breeze.
It’s rather unfair.
Aeryn scowls at his quip—or rather it’s truthfulness—and Halek stomps out his cigar with a bored sigh. “I came down for something to eat,” he explains, gesturing down the corridor towards the kitchens. “Nothing nefarious.”
“Oh, good,” She teases, her voice shifting a small octave higher. “I’m so relieved.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Halek dismisses her sarcastic tone and pushes his hands into his pockets. “What about you?”
Aeryn can only shrug in response. “Couldn’t sleep. Went for a walk.”
“Aren’t we just lucky then.”
“Lucky, huh?” She smirks, her posture immediately loosening and shifting into something more open and inviting. Her body turns to face him properly as though pulled towards him.
His own lips curl into something similarly devious. A piece of stray moonlight catches on his eyes causing them to shine. “I’d say so. Wouldn’t you?”
Her feet take compelled steps forward, bringing her closer to him. He looks down at her as she does, content to watch her as she settles beside him.
“Halek,” she begins, licking her dry lips briefly and his eyes dip down, drawn to the movement. “What is it, exactly, that you’re hoping will happen here?”
This time he inches closer, his pale eyes wandering over the apple of her cheeks, the slope of her nose, the rustling of her hair by the breeze. Her chest swells with a heavy inhale that gets stuck in her lungs. All thoughts leave her brain as they hesitate there, suspended in the moment.
She forgets how long they’ve been standing there when Halek speaks again. “I imagine it’s whatever you’re thinking about, Aeryn.”
Somehow, she manages to grin. “I hope so.”
Her patience runs out and she pushes up onto her toes to meet him halfway.

Hello! I was looking at some questions about marriage for the ROs and I noticed that Halek would wait at least a year before considering marrying MC, and I was wondering why? Also how long would Naolin be willing to wait before considering marriage?
Hi! I think a year of courtship/dating is pretty standard in Blest terms before getting married, and for Halek specifically, he's naturally cautious when it comes to long-term commitments; it'd be pretty funny if he spent so long putting off marriage, only to turn around and get married after like 3 months of dating LOL! He would want at least a year of just enjoying the relationship and exploring each other before thinking about marriage, especially because marriage would come with a lot of considerations that would have to be untangled: children, what happens to the Reach, the lifespan issues, etc. So he'd want at least a year before having to think about all that!
As for Naolin, he's also naturally cautious considering he doesn't have much romantic experience and also has his duties to his sol and the Reach to consider, but I could see him having a whirlwind courtship as well! I'd think at least 7-9 months would have to pass before he felt like he was ready to be married!

Since he doesn’t have any kids and Naolin can’t do it as Sola, if Halek dies who would take over as Sol of the reach?
Uth Baryd's council of elders would consult with various seers and sages to read the signs from the gods and select a new sol, with input from sols of allied clans and neighboring cities in the Reach (it's a complicated political system, but Halek is only one out of a league of chieftains that govern the entire region of the Reach, but the city that he is sol of happens to be the capitol city of the region, so his word has more weight even if his political power is technically equal to that of the other sols...? It's like the difference between being the mayor of Los Angeles versus the mayor of, idk, Sausalito: you're both still mayors, you technically share the same duties, but one tends to have have more social weight or clout than the other?).
However, anyone would have the right to challenge the new sol in combat to see if they were more suitable for the position than the one who was selected by the council. You can technically challenge the sol at any time, but for a sol elected after the early death of another, there's a grace period where this is more socially accepted/a matter of course, and then after that window, it's kind of like you waited a little too long. Hope that makes sense!

I loved the new part of chapter 4!! I wanted to ask, if Naolin went to Haven with/instead of Halek, how would he get along with the rest of the shepherds?
Great question, haha!
Naolin is a very proper and courteous soul, a bit reserved emotionally but generally gentle and kind-hearted when left to his own devices, and very diplomatic! Knowing all of that, he'd definitely get along best with Shery, Tallys, and Riel! I imagine he and Shery would be really close and would spend a lot of time together, because they both love all things proper and fancy (tea parties!!!) and are generally quiet, gentle souls. But he'd also be very drawn to Tallys's general chill vibes and maturity, so I imagine they'd hang out a lot, and he'd respect Riel a lot and would want to sort of emulate him or study his leadership style and habits in a way?? I think he'd be a little in awe of Riel!
Being very orderly, I think he would probably not enjoy Trouble, Chase, and Ayla's general loudness and chaos, lol: Chase's ribald jokes and pranks would regularly scandalize him, and Ayla's constant yelling would stress him out! 😅 He wouldn't really show it, and it would never reach the level of "dislike"--more that they just wouldn't be close friends. He just wouldn't seek them out or spend a ton of time with them outside of work!
He'd also get along well with Red and Briony (though Briony leans more towards the chaotic/loud side of the scale, it's usually inadvertent and she tries really hard to be considerate, so Naolin would like her regardless). He'd respect Lavinet but they wouldn't be close: just professional, polite coworkers!
In general I think he and Blade would have gotten along fine, but after the whole Moonsilk thing, I think Blade would have been just a tiny bit cold to Naolin--nothing super noticeable or indiscreet, and it would never affect any of their working relationship, but he'd hold like the tiniest little grudge and once in a blue moon you might catch him side-eyeing Naolin like 😒
He also would have been very sweet to Caine and Mimir and would have gone out of his way to make them feel comfortable/be helpful to them in any way he could!

Out of curiosity, how’s Naolin doing with leading ever since Halek left the Reach? Do he and Halek write to eachother ?
He's doing remarkably well! Sometimes he still wants to pretend to be Halek because it's just easier dealing with antsy elders, but people are onto him so he doesn't, lol. Leadership of the Reach has notably stabilized and improved since Halek isn't just ducking out to take naps They do write to each other, but sporadically, and they're kind of the kind of siblings who don't talk about super personal stuff over letters?? They don't really need to! Naolin basically just writes him "report"-style letters and Halek doesn't acknowledge them and gives very brief updates on his life with the Shepherds, but nothing insanely specific because he still feels bad about bailing and leaving Naolin with the reins!

Have Halek and Naolin ever done a switcheroo? Where one pretended to be the other?
Yes, they did it all the time, especially when Halek slacked off and like escaped his duties to go hide in a field somewhere and then Naolin would fill in for him so as not to make people think their sol was a lazy shithead lol. It got harder once Halek got his ears pierced, but Naolin adapted by getting fake earrings. It stopped fooling the teachers though because Naolin was too respectful and studious to be Halek convincingly lmao
Naolin wants to do the switcheroo again when Halek leaves the Reach with the Shepherds, but Halek orders him to rule as Naolin partly so people can see what a great leader his bro is
