Even now he/she/they are still super soldiers.

CARTER-A259:

Commander Carter-A259 was a SPARTAN-III commando of the UNSC Naval Special Warfare Command, attached to Special Warfare Group Three. Carter was the leader of Noble Team, an elite team of Spartans who fought during the Fall of Reach. His callsign was Noble One.

Childhood and early career:

Carter was born in Durban, Biko on August 27, 2520. He was conscripted into the SPARTAN-III program's Alpha Company in 2531, and, after an unknown amount of time, he became the leader of Noble Team. He has led Noble Team through enough difficult situations to earn the loyalty of his teammates. He and Catherine-B320 are the only survivors of the original team, and share a close bond as a result.

Later career:

On April 22, 2552, Carter led Noble Team in an operation put together by LCDR Catherine-B320 to destroy a CCS-class battlecruiser maintaining position above a city. The operation was successful, but at the cost of Thom-A293.

Both Carter and Kat took responsibility over the death of Thom, unable to admit that the death of the SPARTAN was his own fault. Thom was replaced on Noble Team by SPARTAN-B312 a few months later, just prior to the Fall of Reach.

Fall of Reach:

Throughout the course of the game, Carter led Noble Team in multiple operations against Covenant forces, such as the investigation of a communications blackout at the Visegrád Relay, a mission which led to the first confrontation with Covenant forces on the planet, the counter-offensive operation on ONI operated 'Sword Base', and a large-scale UNSC assault on a Covenant-occupied/staging site and the neutralisation of a Covenant cloaking tower.

The destruction of the UNSC Grafton by a CSO-class supercarrier after the Battle of Viery prompted Carter and Kat-B320 to review the situation. Recognizing the presence of the supercarrier as a large threat, Noble Team decided to utilize a "non-existent" space vessel at a secret launch facility and plant a makeshift slipspace bomb on board the Covenant vessel in place of their nukes the UNSC Forces on Reach had expended. Carter, along with Kat-B320, Jorge-052 and Noble Six, helped UNSC ground forces repel Covenant invaders from the launch facility, which housed the Sabre launch site. Noble Team was separated at this point, with Jorge and Six participating in Operation: UPPERCUT with the rest focusing on the groundside.

On August 23, Carter and the remaining members of Noble Team assisted the UNSC in protecting the planet's civilian population from the Covenant. They reunited with Noble Six in New Alexandria and helped in the neutralisation of Covenant communication jammers and evacuation of ONI personnel from the ONI HQ. Not too long after, Noble Team was hailed by its commanding officer and was ordered to destroy Sword Base. The team was forced to enter a radiation bunker to shield themselves from the Covenant's glassing of New Alexandria. However, Kat-B320 was shot in the head by a Sangheili Field Marshal on the way to the bunker at the Olympic Tower.

Carter, along with the remaining members of Noble Team, proceeded to Sword Base and fought their way into the facility, only to have their directives revised by an unknown UNSC AI. In the facility, they encountered Dr. Halsey once more. Noble Six was urged by the science officer to become the courier of a package and to deliver it safely to the UNSC Pillar of Autumn. Using Pelicans as their mode of transportation, Noble Team was split into two splinter groups; Jun-A266 escorted Dr. Halsey to CASTLE Base while the others headed for the Autumn.

Sometime during the transport of the package to the Autumn, Carter was critically wounded in the Pelican, due to his head hitting the front windshield and causing massive internal damage, in the cutscene at the beginning of the level a bloody hole can be seen in his upper-right abdomen which could also have been his fatal wound, this also explains the blood around his mouth and nose. Knowing that the delivery of the package was of the highest priority, he ordered Noble Six and Emile-A239 to drop out of the Pelican and proceed by ground while he diverted the Covenant aerial forces' attention. During the journey groundside, the two SPARTANs encountered a Scarab blocking their path. Carter sacrificed his life by ramming into the behemoth, allowing the two Spartans to accomplish their objective. His final words to them were, "You're on your own, Noble. Carter out."

My RvB Timeline

Since my RvB/Halo merged timeline continues to make the rounds, and since I’ve made a lot of other posts about my issues with the book timeline and how I don’t really follow it, I figured I’d go ahead and lay out the timeline I actually use for fic writing in RvB.

This is effectively Dropverse, as that’s where I live like 90% of the time and it’s the one that actually requires the most thought and means the most to me. The further back in my fic archives you go, the less likely my standalones are to actually adhere to this timeline, as it’s something I’ve developed over years of putting way too much thought into this silly show.

This is headcanon. It’s headcanon that ignores certain pieces of canon (particularly certain bits of dialogue) and I’m okay with that. For all I enjoy trying, I don’t actually believe all of RvB canon can be reconciled and where it can’t I just choose what I think works best for the kind of stories I want to tell. That doesn’t mean it’s going to be best for the kind of story you want to tell. Also, this is the kind of thing I am constantly updating and rethinking so the odds of me working from this exact timeline a year from now is like... slim. So, y’know. Grain of salt.

Carolina’s Early Life

While I’m actually not set in stone on it, I have for some time held to Allison dying when Carolina was eight. I know she’s said to have died “very early” in Leonard’s life, but at the same time I find Carolina’s memories of her mother a little too clear (she remembers repeated experiences, not just bits and pieces) for her to have been six. Eight allows for clearer memories for Carolina, Allison could’ve had her when she was 18-20, and for Leonard, your mid 20s are still pretty early in your life when you’re now fifty, and think every day about how many more days you could’ve had together. But I’m more flexible on this than some things, since it doesn’t have a huge bearing on most of what I write.

The important thing is that Carolina loses her mother young, but never forgets what her mother was like or what she believed in. At age 12, her father enrolls her in a 6-12 military boarding school. After graduation, she is accepted to a UNSC Naval Academy and goes on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in three years because of course she does. She completes her basic and specialized training, and receives her commission to Lieutenant at age 22, and promoted to Captain at 26, after which she is recommended for ONI Special Projects Division. It’s presented as an opportunity to advance faster, and so she takes it. (She knows her father is directing the program she applies for. It factors into her decision.)

Project Freelancer

In my timeline Project Freelancer begins no more than three years before the end of the war. The key point to my Freelancer is it moves quickly, for reasons I’ve explained here.

Of note:

Freelancer is cleared for funding after the loss of the Spartan-III Beta Company.

It begins after the official unveiling of the Spartan-II program. Dr. Church is influenced by his knowledge of the Spartan program and Catherine Halsey’s work generally.

Alpha is created after or around the same time as Cortana. (Also, he’s not created from a flash clone.)

The Director is still arguing with the UNSC over funding as the Counselor assembles a list of candidates. Dr. Church wants multiple AIs to assign to his agents. He is denied.

The simulation bases are built at the beginning of the project because fuck that retcon in particular; they are all built on the same planet because I prefer to make travel time a real thing in the stuff I write, and all of the Recollections locations being on the same planet makes working with that part of the timeline about a million times less bloated and complicated.

Beta’s spontaneous generation occurs not long after Alpha’s activation. With all the activity in the early phase phase of the program, it takes some time for the Director to notice this anomaly in Alpha’s neural matrix, and remove Beta from him and his virtual environment.

Project Freelancer was to have three distinct phases:

Orientation & Simulation Training. This was the team-building portion of the program. In the beginning, though agents did have individual combat scores, there wasn’t a leaderboard. As they were divided into squads, teamwork and team bonding was strongly encouraged. Somewhere near the end of this phase, the leaderboard emerged.

There were a few “real” missions during this phase as well, mostly targeted at getting equipment for the agents simulation bases that their funding didn’t allow. The specialized armor, the enhancements, and the Covenant tech used on sim bases (for example, the teleporters) was all stolen. The Director is still trying to get funding for more Ais, and briefly explores the avenue of agents running armor enhancements without AI. In most cases, this goes poorly, and after the number of training incidents reaches unacceptable levels, a new protocol was instituted.

Beta is removed from Alpha’s virtual environment late in this phase, though she is kept isolated. Alpha’s distress at being separated from her causes Omega to emerge. He is able to separate from Alpha on his own and aggressively seeks out Tex despite the Director’s attempts to contain him for further testing and reassignment. At this time the Director begins to explore further options for splitting Alpha.

Field Testing. At this point, simulation training is over and the Freelancers have moved on to proper “missions” exclusively, though still targeting what they’re told are Insurrectionists rather than Covenant.

The Triplets and other unsatisfactory low-level agents are ejected from the program early in this phase. Seasons 9 and 10 take place during this phase.

The remaining fragments are split in the following order (I have reasons for the order but that could probably be its own post):

If things had gone as planned, this phase would be complete when all the top agents had received their AIs and been field-tested.

Deployment in Covenant-occupied territories. This is the planned final stage of Project Freelancer that never happens because everything goes tits-up.

Post-Project

Alpha is moved to Blood Gulch immediately after the crash. Blood Gulch Chronicles begin about three weeks after that. Remaining agents in Alpha Squad and below are reassigned to the Recovery force to hunt down rogue agents, some of whom are still stranded on the planet.

The Blood Gulch Chronicles take place in the last year of the war. In particular, the Great Journey and Junior’s birth takes place right around the time of the Great Schism in the Covenant.

The Great War ends within a month of Tex leaving Blood Gulch, and the sim troops are reassigned. North is killed somewhere in that window, and Wash’s encounter with South follows. The Meta nabs Tex, Gamma, and Omega from the Valhalla crash site pretty soon after.

Church is not at High Ground alone for 14 months because that’s just ridiculous. Time seems longer for an AI. Handwaves aggressively.

Season 6 takes a few weeks at most.

About six months pass between the end of season 6 and Wash’s release from prison. Wash gets a trial before he goes to prison. Maine is ruled unfit to stand trial and imprisoned without due process because who the hell is going to advocate for him. Certainly not Wash.

Wash and Maine/Meta spend a week or so re-equipping to go back in the field, and only a few days on the ground hunting Epsilon.

Carolina catches up with the Reds and Blues very soon after the ice battle, for reasons I went into here. It’s been about two years since the ship crash. She is now around 28 or 29.

From the time Carolina makes contact to her final confrontation with the Director it’s a few weeks, tops.

I allow for some more wiggle room between the Director’s death and Chorus, for Hargrove to catch up with Carolina. But when he does, he “invites” the Reds and Blues back to Earth for a formal recognition of their efforts in stopping military corruption. There’s a lot of press coverage. Wash and Epsilon keep low profiles, but the Chairman is not an idiot and is definitely aware of who Wash is.

He puts them on a ship to take them “home,” i.e. ending their official deployments, so basically taking them to the nearest transit hub, probably Reach, where they would go their separate ways and return to civilian life. Instead, the Hand of Merope is deliberately diverted to the outer colony of Chorus, where it crashes.

At this time, I don’t have a rigid timeline for Chorus, though I very well might some day. So for now, that’s all she wrote!

Kill Wraith Fast

All you have to do is grab a plasma pistol, charge it and shoot it. Run to the wraith and hit the back part of it. NOTE: it’s better if you keep charging your plasma pistol and shooting it so the wraith wont be able to move.

How To Kill A Brute Chieftain Fast

Sometimes Brute chieftains with hammers can be a pain in the butt. I found a way to kill them in seconds. OK, what you do is arm yourself with a plasma pistol and a rocket (if there’s one). First you wait till he’s in range, then you charge up your plasma pistol, fire a full charged plasma pistol at him, he will stop and his shields will be weak enough to be killed with only ONE rocket. Or if there’s a vehicle on the map then you can splatter them head on and instant kill.

Map Over View

On the level sandbox go to it in forge and turn into a robot and look up in the air and you should find a 2 way node fly through it and you should find your self looking down on a grid of the map. Don’t turn back into a human or you will fall and die what you need to do is drop a few things on the grid and then fly over the items you dropped and then you can turn into a human it is also fun to fill up the grid up with any thing to walk on and have fights up there.

Assembly SKULL

On the halo 3 mythic, go to forge and go to assembly and when you start go to the middle of the level and you will see a big tower and from the tower there are two pipes (one on each side)if you turn into the flying robot you can fly up to them and if you go to both of them and look on top of them you will see the skull on the pipe surrounded by orange bars.

Longshore Skull

The skull is located behind a vent by a blue fish sign. The vent overlaps the water. I recommend going in forge mode and getting to it, you might die in the process, so don’t worry if you do it is hard to get behind the vent.

Sgt. Johnson

To get sgt. Johnson, you can only get him by reserving the game. When you reserve it, the store (if it participates in the event) will give you a token with a code to unlock him. This info is useless to anyone after: 9-31-09.

How To Get A Wraith In Firefight

Just start a firefight mission that has a wraith and when the mission starts find a sniper rifle or carbine or anything you can snipe with snipe the gunner this will make it easier hold on to the sniper for later. Run up to it with a plasma pistol overcharge it and put down the wraith use melee to brake open the hatch-the thing in front of the gunner seat then when you can see his head crouch down to were it doesnt say hold rb to jack then hold rb and shoot it with your sniper and voila, you have it note: if you get out it will blow up.

Aa Wraith On Tsavo Highway

Go through the level until you get to the aa wraith items you`ll need:a plasma pistol, and a br55 or ma5c take out the gunner first board it and punch it 2 or 3 times the cockpit door should be busted charge your plasma pistol and shoot it should be down for about 3 to 5 seconds crouch to where it doesn’t say hold rb to board then hold rb and shoot him when he dies you should have jacked the aa wraith.

Easy Triple Kill With Laser

Go to lost platoon on campaign (put scoring on) and use the laser on the wraith and you should get a triple kill or go to firefight (u can put either team or free for all I like team) and go to either lost platoon or ONI alpha site.

Easy Both Tubes Achivement

All you have to do is when you get on the tank give one rocket launcher to a marine riding on it and the other one behind the tank to another and let them take a couple of shots. Give it to the both riding in front and you will get it faster.

Hidden Place On Sand Box

GO to Forge mode and go to sand box. Once you’re in sand box there is a teleporter above the map if you go through it, you would be on top of the map. Also if you delete everything there will be a box in the ground. Delete it and go down the tunnel. Then after that you will reach the secret room. Then all you have to do is have fun.

Toggle Between Pan-Cam And Normal

During a local game hold: Left Analog Stick + Right Analog Stick and press LEFT when “Show Coordinates” is active.

On the mission Tayari Plaza a little bit after you meet up with the marine they’ll be one of the roadblock things with an elite dead over it. You go a bit farther and a wall says “BELIEVE” and there will be tons of dead elites. Buck will then ask DARE what’s up with the elitse and she’ll say it’s confidential.

Another Fast Way To Kill A Brute Chieftain

Yes the brute chieftain is a pain but when it comes down to it hes not all that tuff. As he charges toward you with the gravity hammer avoid it and follow close behind and melee it in the back for a quick kill and hes out of your way as well works good for any charging enemies.

Flamethrower Location On Data Hive

On the mission The Data Hive on any difficulty there is a ice covered room. Instead of turning right to get to Dares location you go straight. Then on the right there should be the flamethrower. Then also if you kill 10 enemies you get the I like fre achievement.

Easy My Clothes Achievement

First you overcharge your plasma pistol at a brute. After that you hit be and on the side of your screen it will say “MY CLOTHES”. You must get 10 in one mission to get the achievement.

Kill A Brute Chief With No Ammunition

To save ammo on the gravity hammer user kill him after you get him to swing hit him in the back to assassinate it works when his shield is on to.

Sandbox Secret Room

First and foremost do the level sandbox on forge once you have done that then turn into the robot. In the middle of the map there is a type of pyramid, inside of the pyramid there is a grav lift, the little square where the grav lift is on can be deleted [square looks like part of ground] once deleted there will be a hole where the square was, jump through. You will fall for little while then you will fall into a pretty big room then put whatever you want in the room and play like you would above ground.

Easy Kill

An easier way to kill the big guys with shields and green lasers are hard to beat, but there’s a way to kill them. Any gun would work, preferably a good one. Get close to the brute and when he tries to strike you with his arm, sidestep and get around him. Once around him you shoot, or hit, him in the orange part of his back. Do this a few times and he will surely fall.

Mongoose

There are mongooses in most of the supply caches so look for them.

Sandbox Skull

On halo 3 mythic on sandbox this skull is somewhat hard to get. There is two methods one you can create a tube all the way out to it (by the way its out in the area where you get shot. Out on the edge of the map in a small ditch) using building materials. Another way is two set a trip mine down and set it on instant respawn. Grab it and keep throwing it down time after time until the explode overloading the map. You are free to walk in the area they shot because they don’t shot you. I prefer this way because it is easier but you can try the other method if you like it.

Orbital Skull

On the halo 3 mythic, go to forge and go to the level orbital and when you start walk around until you find a corner at the end of two hallways where you will see two crates and a hallway above with glass windows and the side will have a yellow and black bar with cones in front of it. If you look over the rail you will see steam. Anyway, if you switch to the flying robot and go to the very top you will see two black platforms sticking out of the wall. If you look between them you will see the skull but you can’t get to it so land and turn sideways then switch back to human. Walk around scaling the wall (it may be a little hard to do but if you keep trying you will make it) and then the skull will appear in front of you in the little corner of the black platform.

Glitches

My Clothes Achievement Glitch

When you kill a jackal with a shield take their plasma pistol and if more jackals are around with shields charge your pistol and shoot their shields and melee them and in the right bottom corner (i think) it will say my clothes and however many kills you got doing this. (it may not work all the time but it worked every time for me)!
