cold fruit in a hot kitchen (so i had this great watermelon last weekend)

#so I had this great watermelon last weekend. and the thing is it probably wasn't even that great of a watermelon #but I was four hours into an eight hour shift and we had thrown out all the watermelon salad because no one was eating it #and then our manager ran in and yelled that the client really fucking wanted watermelon salad. #so like six of us servers started frantically chopping watermelon. and the kitchen got really hot #in the way it does when everyone inside it is really stressed because there's no fucking watermelon salad #and after we chopped all the watermelon and the client got their fucking watermelon we all had a moment #where we looked at the remaining watermelon and we were so hot and cocktail hour was almost over anyway and the salads were all plated #and we all went for the watermelon and we ate it with the kind of rabid intensity you only get while eating cold watermelon in a hot kitche #and it was the best watermelon I have ever tasted and several days later i am still chasing the high of that fucking watermelon #and the thing is i know it isn't even the watermelon i'm actually missing #it's the feeling of cool liquid on hot skin and the feeling of a crisis averted and the feeling of camaraderie #that comes with devouring a watermelon in a hot kitchen with six other people who you have nothing in common with except that watermelon. #i don't dream of labor but i am dreaming now of being 4 hours into an eight hour shift eating watermelon in a hot kitchen. #i dream of laughing around the cold fruit in my mouth. I crave that watermelon like i'll die without it. #< honest to god this is real and that watermelon left such an impact on me that i had to draw it and write this. having a normal one #maybe this is insane but working in a team of people you truly like to do something you actually enjoy is so underrated #if only they fucking paid me i could work as a server for the rest of my life. unironically #skribbles

Some fun facts about them: they’re native! Specifically they could be from the Salishan (but I don’t know too much so I leave it ambiguous) and are half Filipino, born and raised in British Columbia, Canada around Vancouver. They were raised by their mom and brothers, then moving to dahlia for college.

They originally planned to secure a high end job in Vancouver just going to California for school but they met David. They still visit their family as often as they can.

They’re 5’4, the shortest listener! Aklag is still beefy and could definitely throw David over their head. Their callouses are from being raised on a farm, and they’re starting to fade now.

I took them out of another story I made a while ago so I’m still trying to tweak them seamlessly so I’ll actually maybe probably not but make a backstory sheet for my listeners?

Had a weird Hollow Knight-related dream a couple days ago, so I decided to draw a major scene I remembered from it dgsgshf

#hollow knight #little ghost #hk ghost #the knight #hk hornet #hornet #alright. as of writing these tags it's been a week since the original dream so! let's see what i remember dgsgsgf #i was playing a game. which was a sequel to hollow knight ((Not silksong though)) #there was some new sort of divine infection in hallownest and hornet had asked ghost to investigate it. they ended the last one after all! #the red glowy spike gate thingy is what you jumped into to enter the 'infected' areas #though it actually led directly to a hub world type of place. which was kinda like an expanded base for the grimm troupe? #more like an entire lair instead of a camp. also some greek gods were there for some reason lmao. they had their own special rooms too #so sidenote but- new headcanon that there are grimm troupe members named ares athena artemis &... venus lmao. not aphrodite for some reason #also monomon was there?? i think??? except she was cooking????? she had a sidequest to deliver something to someone though i dunno hdgfhdgh #i remember going back to the grimm troupe lair a couple times throughout my 'playthrough' #anyway. the 'infection' this time around was more of a glitchy physical corruption thing? rather than a mind corruption. #though there were still aggressive enemies to fight. but i remember getting a map from cornifer early on and he was. probably infected #i think part of his body was covered in electricity or something? so he wasn't fully visible? but he was still acting normally #there was also a moth who was the seer but then later wasn't the seer (but was still the same moth) dghgdhf. i delivered stuff to her #that glowing white wall thing in the drawing was like a one-way gate. you could only cross it from the other side and ghost came from there #i guess things looped back up somehow i dunno ghdgfhgf #anyway. ghost's red eyes. those are significant! those happened while i was walking through a corridor. it had pools of shallow water #(shallow enough to just walk through) and also creatures that were lightseeds but red.the implication was that they were full of Blood lmao #and as i went along killing them--as one does--as i walked through the hall. they started turning the water red too #there was also narration about this as it was happening ashdgsf. specifically the narrator said the water turned red before it actually did #ghost's eyes slowly turned red too. but aside from that they were fine! since. they're the player character and the player is perfectly fin #BUT. when they encountered hornet again. she thought they were infected. and that she lost the only family she had left </3 #she didn't attack though. instead she just jumped into the red spike gate without a word. decided to try to fix everything herself #but eventually you'd encounter her again down below and she'd fight you. didn't actually get to that in the dream though #aand i'm out of tags </3 i wanted to talk about what i'd do to make this make more sense as an au or something now that i'm awake but. :c

im not okay, the ending is actually terrifying, but it makes sense bcos dazai was trying to figure out how to use the basilisk from tom and he definitely doesnt actually want to kill pomfrey. i rlly thought that they were gonna use a spell to recover the letter so i was surprised w/ that. i rlly dont know what to expect next (other than dueling club, obviously) bcos i was sure that mori saying that dazai would kill poppy that he meant that he eventually would, not the next damn chapter. snape will probably be in charge of brewing the potion now but i cant imagine dazai actually doing anything to him, but being tasked to kill him might lead to smthn and snape might help him, but idrk, or he might not even be tasked to hurt him bcos pomfrey had to do w/ her knowing abt the mafia and they dont know if snape knows, but if he's trying to stop the potion from being brewed and snape possibly could know abt the mafia and dazai is in the mafia so it's not like killing ppl is the very very last resort, i think snape will atleast eventually be a target, maybe mcgonagall first, since pomfrey is gone then the month probably doesnt matter as much, if mcgonagall makes it clear that she knows of the mafia she will be next. idk tho

i can’t remember if i ever actually made the Ravenous Ghost Bell analysis post, but i wish i had time to make it because i feel like it would be received well in this moment…

#i mean… tldr: ghosts are real in Ravenous #mostly in the heads of the people who ate them #both to harass them in nightmares but also to influence their physical actions #(usually as an echo of something they themselves did in life) #there are COUNTLESS examples of this - which i will give the highlights of when i actually DO make the post #but there’s specifically a moment in the final Boyd-Ives showdown where a bell is rung #and we don’t see who rang it but it causes Boyd to focus and draws him to the barn where he sees the bear trap and is Inspired #and we can presume that the bear trap was Reich’s idea (based on that deleted bear trap shooting scene that i made the gifset of) #but then WHO rang the bell?? #obviously it is implied to (and must have been) Ives #but why did he do it? #to get Boyd’s attention - naturally… sounds like him #he knows that time is ticking… wants to lure Boyd to his trap #BUT the thing is that Ives ate Reich too #and i feel like (being a long-time cannibal with no moral compass) he is probably Less influenced by the people he eats than Boyd is #but i also like to think that - in that moment - Reich subconsciously influenced him to do it #because - notably - Reich was the one who rung that bell the last time he left Fort Spencer - he’s the only character we see so it #so like. tldr again: ghosts are Real in Ravenous and Reich’s ghost rung the bell in that scene #to help Boyd focus and lead him to the solution that would give him the upper hand in the conflict to defeat Ives #and someday i will write ALL of that up properly - but it’s just SO good and i love to talk about it #so here i am #ghostposting the night away… #not tagging this because i want the REAL analysis to get notes whenever i post that #but feel FREE to chat with me about this if you see it! #i love Ravenous and i miss talking about it #i have SO much to say lol

ahhh i just remembered alphen and shionne are gonna be at the next tales of festival again and damn that's three times in a row for them!!! that's amazing (for me specifically)!! like genuinely i assumed last year would be the last time they were gonna have both of 'em on, bcause, well it can't be the arise Celebrity Couple all the time, everybody's probably sick of them already and the hype's gone down and all that, and heck they even hinted at that in one of the kagenare, but!! against all odds i get yet another year or shimoji and satotaku performing together
