An open letter to the U.S. House of Representatives
Co-sponsor H.R. 1478, the Federal Firearms Licensee Act.
542 so far! Help us get to 1,000 signers!
As your constituent, I'm writing to ask that you co-sponsor H.R. 1478, the Federal Firearms Licensee Act. This is a groundbreaking gun safety bill that will help keep guns off our streets by providing law enforcement with the tools necessary to crack down on gun trafficking and the rogue gun sellers that perpetuate it. The laws that govern gun dealers are outdated—and that's what makes them dangerous. By modernizing and strengthening the federal laws that gun dealers must follow, this legislation will ensure that gun sales are done responsibly, securely, and safely, and that the dealers who fail to do so are held accountable. Please co-sponsor the Federal Firearms Licensee Act to make sure gun dealers are required to do their part to stop this deadly crisis.

What up Diallo,I greatly value your analysis and was wondering what you thought about the Empowering Communities for Public Safety ordinance. David Boykin
Tumblr media
Hey David, good to hear from you. "Empowering Communities for Public Safety" is a potential trap. The reason the public isn't safe is because of the unjust distribution of resources; and any policing (& yes, ECPS is some police shit) under capitalism is all about supporting this Status Quo, which is unjust, racist, and unsustainable. So if we deputized a bunch of Black people for Public Safety they will quickly begin to behave just like Black Cops....and Black Cops act just like Cops.
The Laws, Patrols, Enforcement, Public Policies, & Guns in the Black community are not there to protect or liberate the community, they are here to protect the property of those who have a little more than the rest. I have no problem with protecting what little shit we are able to accumulate in this system, BUT I have a problem with people misrepresenting what they are doing and why they are doing it. Many "Public Safety" Black people are Status Quo, not Revolutionary. Also, we should understand that the ECPS has always been a part of US culture and history. White men called a being citizen patrol or being deputized, our ancestors called them a lynch mob. In order to avoid doing harm or perpetuating an unjust Status Quo ECPS has to be holistic. The public safety "officers" should also be engaged in working towards the just distribution of resources among the community they are policing & contributing to Black Liberation (aka Revolution) efforts. The Black Panthers did this; they ensured safety within the larger organization agenda of fighting for Black Power and Liberation. Safety under oppression preserves oppression.

"Sadiq Khan. How many more people have to die?!? Honest question. When will you start taking your job as London mayor seriously?!?. I’m so fed up with your egotistical PR machine saying “London is a vibrant and beautiful place” It won’t be people who keep being stabbed. Do the decent thing and resign! Under your tenure, We have seen crime at an all-time! London is destroying itself. Give more power to the police and STOP WASTING MONEY! Sadiq Khan, you are a disingenuous pathological liar who only cares about getting money for himself and the Qatar-owned Muslim city."

An open letter to the U.S. Congress
Upgrade the security of electronic benefit cards and protect families in need!
118 so far! Help us get to 250 signers!
I understand that a bipartisan and bicameral group of lawmakers have introduced the Enhanced Cybersecurity for SNAP Act to upgrade the security of electronic benefit cards and protect families in need. I support this bill! To date, tens of millions of dollars in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits have been stolen by criminals exploiting lax security of SNAP electronic benefit cards. Congress has spent years pressing the U.S. Department of Agriculture to require states to issue cards with secure chips rather than magnetic strips that can be easily cloned by criminals. Despite those requests, USDA has failed to update security regulations for benefit cards. This bill would remedy that. The Enhanced Cybersecurity for SNAP Act addresses fraud by directing the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to update its cybersecurity regulations to ensure SNAP benefits cannot be easily stolen by criminals. It’s a no-brainer—Congress must pass this legislation. Millions of Americans use SNAP to support themselves and their families. With outdated card technology, we are leaving their benefits vulnerable to cybersecurity theft and leaving families at risk of being unable to put food on the table every day. This must change. Thanks.

New Prisons IT Content Law
Tumblr media
In an era where digital platforms can inadvertently become conduits for the dissemination of harmful content, the UK government has taken a decisive step to safeguard society from the perils of unauthorized prison footage. Moreover, the introduction of the Prison Media Bill, spearheaded by Katherine Fletcher MP, marks a significant stride in the quest to maintain public safety and the integrity of our penal system.
The Urgent Need for Action
For too long, a legal loophole has permitted the proliferation of videos, photographs, and audio recordings emanating from behind bars, causing undue distress to victims and jeopardizing the security of our correctional facilities. Last year alone, a staggering 890 instances of such content were unearthed online, underscoring the critical need for legislative intervention.   Edward Argar MP, Minister for Prisons, Parole and Probation, articulated the gravity of the situation, asserting that "Tackling harmful content filmed behind bars is critical to our plan to protect the public and ensure the safety and security of our prisons."   This sentiment echoes the collective resolve to eliminate digital platforms as arenas for glorifying criminal activity and inflicting secondary trauma upon victims.   A Comprehensive Legal Framework The cornerstone of this legislative reform is the unequivocal criminalization of the uploading and distribution of unauthorized prison content, irrespective of the uploader's location. This groundbreaking measure extends to footage obtained via drones and unauthorized filming of staff, closing avenues previously exploited by malefactors. The implications for social media companies are profound. Under the new statutes, these entities are compelled to act with alacrity in removing illicit content, aligning their operations with a legal mandate to uphold public safety and adhere to the principles of justice.   Strategic Investment in Security Complementing this legal overhaul is a robust investment in prison security, exemplified by the allocation of £100 million towards state-of-the-art detection and surveillance technologies. Furthermore, the deployment of airport-style scanners and the imposition of airspace restrictions around correctional facilities signify a comprehensive approach to thwarting the smuggling of contraband and neutralizing external threats.   Fostering a Culture of Accountability The Prison Media Bill embodies a holistic strategy to combat the digital glorification of criminality, reinforcing the notion that accountability extends beyond physical confines. Katherine Fletcher MP emphasized the societal imperative, stating, "The public and particularly victims of crime must have confidence that images of those convicted of offences are not shown to the outside world to be commented on or celebrated."
A Call to Vigilance
As we navigate the complexities of the digital age, the enactment of the Prison Media Bill serves as a testament to the UK's commitment to upholding the highest standards of public safety and moral rectitude. By bridging legal gaps and fortifying our correctional institutions, we lay the groundwork for a society that values security, respects the plight of victims, and stands firm against the trivialization of criminal conduct. Moreover, this legislative milestone invites us to reflect on the role of technology in shaping societal norms and the imperative of vigilance in safeguarding our collective wellbeing. It is a clarion call to all stakeholders to embrace their responsibilities in fostering a safe and just digital ecosystem.   Sources: THX News, Ministry of Justice, HM Prison and Probation Service, & The Rt Hon Edward Argar MP.
