Party at the Regent Miniatures Mansion

Cheryl Ladd, Farrah Fawcett (version 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0, 6.0), Jaclyn Smith, Kate Jackson, RuPaul, Brooke Shields, Jennifer Lopez, Chris Reeve) all repainted and restyled by artist Noel Cruz, as well as Mommie Dearest Fashion Royalty, Funny Face FR, Pink Ribbon Barbie, Hot Toys Bruce Lee, Brad Pitt, Enterbay Scarface, and others enjoy the debut of the 1:6 scale project created and built by Ken Haseltine of Regent Miniatures.

Many of the gowns are Fashion Royalty fashions designed by Jason Wu for FR. Some are Dressmaker Details as well as Barbie Fashion by Mattel. Furniture is by Regent Miniatures. The Men’s fashions are from Monkey Depot as is one chair located upstairs (with the guitar) www.monkeydepot.com/.

DOLLS ->Practice - Led Research

As my project is focusing on the next generation, i have decided to do some research into dolls and artists who represent them in different ways. Doing this will help me see how professionals have altered a barbie and hopefully help me with my major work.

Barbies philosophy “My whole philosophy of Barbie was that through the doll, the little girl could be anything she wanted to be. Barbie always represented the fact that a woman has choices,” creator Ruth Handler once said of the doll.

Despite the best intentions, Mattel (and Barbie) has come under fire for promoting an unhealthy body image to young girls. Her impossible figure and perfect life have been a target for many artists who have subverted the Barbie norms to explore its absurdity and question feminine ideals.

Artist

Peihang Huang - Floral Funeraland

Taipei-based painter Peihang Huang uses vibrant oil paints to create these dreamy, saccharine, and occasionally morbid portraits inspired by Barbie dolls

A morbid tone is realised when many of the dolls are actually battered and even dead.

Huang feels dolls are “the perfect figure to project human behaviors and philosophies.”

She states that they all ‘refer to the issues of identity of my culture; and also focusing on several topics and events that is important in our life, such as death/life/ love/ beauty/body/timing, I believe puppets are the perfect figure toproject human behaviors and philosophies'.

Mark loved Barbie dolls while he was growing up. His affection for the toys has now grown into a new hobby, which has earned him thousands of fans and more than 30,000 followers on Instagram.

A talented artist who turned regular barbie dolls into miniature versions of RuPaul's Drag Race contestants.

Used acrylic paint to turn regular Barbies into real-life drag queens

He has already dedicated two dolls to season nine contestant Valentina

Season eight runner-up Naomi Smalls also got a doll, just like season seven's Violet Chachki and Trixie Mattel

Each doll can take about three days to make, and Mark sometimes repaints them several times to make sure they're just right
