Smiffina Episodes: An Honour To Serve - Part 1
Uniform are running low as a virus takes them down. Millie is trying to battle through despite feeling rough. Nate, Leon and Rachel have called in sick. Gina's going to have to go out to boost the numbers!
Smithy is giving Callum the silent treatment after what happened the day before though he can't resist telling him he's still fuming at being put in that position over Callum's arrest of Glen Donovan (Appropriate Force) and is still considering speaking out about the amount of force used. Callum assures Gina everything is absolutely fine - even if Smithy did just stalk out before she arrived.
Jake Quinn rings the station to tell them he's been stabbed. Roger and Ben arrive as Quinn is loaded into an ambulance. In the flat they find a couple of patches of blood and the living room has been turned over. There's a voicemail from a Nicola that states 'Gerard' is in the way to see him as he's seen the flowers he left her. Roger takes the telephone number and asks Sally to do a check on it.
Heaton offers to help fill in and Gina accepts telling him she really is that desperate! He smiles and says her that's the old Gina he knows and she pretends to take offence at the 'old' and apologises for how she spoke to him. (Funny Money). She tells him she was having a bad time of it and he sympathises. She places Heaton with Sally "Oh. Excellent." "...Try and say it like you mean it, Sally." Roger calls in the stabbing and she assigns Smithy with her after their argument the evening before.
Tumblr media
"We are all on the same side." "We shouldn't have to take sides though, Ma'am."
Ben and Roger update Callum and Millie that a man was seen leaving the block of flats after a lot of shouting. He then went to a pink hatchback in the carpark and drove off. Sally updates them that the telephone number is registered to a Gerard Parry and sends the address through. Eddie thrusts a mask at "Sick Girl", Millie. "Coughs and sneezes spread diseases!" he tells her. Eddie Olusonje: Fighting Covid as far back as 2008.
Smithy apologises to Gina again and tells her he was angry. She tells him to forget it. Smithy speaks to the paramedics and then tells Gina the paramedics found Quinn on the floor by the open front door and all he said was 'thank you'. They speak to Quinn who tells them if it'd been an inch either way he'd no longer be here according to a doctor.
Tumblr media
Quinn tells them it was Gerard Parry who stabbed him because he'd had an affair with his wife. He'd been their builder a few months back and 'one thing lead to another'. He didn't want to be responsible for breaking up a family so ended it but she won't leave him alone. That morning he says she rang and left him a message saying Gerard had found the flowers he sent but claims it wasn't him who sent them.
Gina updates Callum with the address of the suspect but they're already outside. Parry makes a run for it when the police arrive and manages to get away. Callum returns to the house to meet up with Millie and to talk to Parry's wife and daughter.
Nicola insists Quinn is the one who is obsessed with her after a one off she instantly regretted. She claims he is stalking her and that Gerard only punched him. She shows Callum the card and flowers and details calls and text messages of harassment but has deleted the evidence to stop her husband finding them. She'd had an affair 5 years ago and promised it would never happen again. The Parry's daughter tells Millie that her parents either argue or give each other the silent treatment. She's become immune to it as she puts headphones in and turns her music up. She can't wait to be 16 and leave them so they can leave each other.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eddie finds the knife underneath a settee. It's an expensive speciality knife that comes from a block in the Parry's house. Nicola tells Callum it's been missing for a week. She hands a family picture to Callum and tells him it's the 'most recent picture she has' of Gerard. It's at least 6 years old judging by the age of the daughter. Heaton and Sally find Parry at the Jubilee Canal and arrest him for stabbing Quinn. He protests he never stabbed him, that he was fine when he left him. In interview he tells Heaton and Sally that he found the roses on the doorstep and read the card. He'd had his suspicions as Nicola was 'different' when Quinn was around and he was smug. He'd told her that she'd enjoyed talking with him but he'd been harassing her since. They argued all night as it's not the first time she's had an affair. He says Quinn laughed in his face and said his marriage was a sham and she loved him not Parry. He then described her intimately. Parry admits punching Quinn and says he punched him back. They struggled, he realised he was making a fool of himself and shouted at him to leave his wife alone and left Quinn 'grinning'. Sally shows him a picture of the knife and he admits its theirs but he didn't take it with him and he doesn't know how it got there.
Heaton updates uniform they have enough evidence to charge Parry, however he believes that he could be innocent from his behaviour in interview. Smithy explains the paramedics found the door open but Heaton counters that Parry described slamming the door closed. That is backed up by a neighbour that Ben spoke to. Roger found no blood on the door handle or frame but plenty on Jake's hands. There's no identifying the florist as it's a generic bunch of red roses wrapped in cellophane and the card is typed. It's six of one and half a dozen of the other. Millie admits the daughter said her mother has been feeling neglected by the father so could have set it up to make him pay her attention, however, she hadn't told him about the affair so why would she? They consider if it was a way of bringing it to the fore so that Jake could still get punished for rejecting her. Sally brings the Parry's phone records and there's a lot of calls from their number to Quinn's flat over the last few weeks.
Callum returns to the Parry's house and Nicola admits to calling Quinn a couple of times to tell him to leave her alone. Callum tells her there's 40 calls. Some are short 20 second bursts but others are much longer. They were made during daytime hours when her daughter and husband would be out of the house. She only wants him to leave her alone and sticks to her story that she didn't call him.
Smithy and Gina return to St Hugh's and tell Quinn that Parry isn't denying the assault as he expected him to. He tells the same story that Parry did in interview, but then goes into detail about what furniture got knocked over in the struggle and that Parry then pulled a knife on him. He can't say where Parry got it from. He went to the floor after being stabbed and claims Parry stared at him, threw the knife and left, slamming the door behind him. He remembers thinking he had to get it open again for the paramedics. Gina asks if this was before he called 999 or after. Jake seems confused as to why he's being questioned and gets twitchy. He also has no defensive wounds on his body or hands. "If a fella comes at you with a knife you're gonna try and take it off him." Smithy points out. "And if he opened the door for the paramedics, why is there no blood on it?"
Gina updates Eddie and asks for his take on it. Eddie admits it's quite a confused crime scene. He says the things that are knocked over do not tally having fallen or broken in a struggle - for example a table has been upturned with one leg snapped off completely and then neatly laid inside the table frame. The blood is consistent with one stab wound, however Quinn has 5. There are marks on the wall and Eddie considers that Quinn could have braced the knife inplace and pushed himself onto it and taken 4 run attempts before the final one where he pushed it in fully. Smithy is only a couple of inches shorter than Quinn so attempts to recreate it - it lines up. Gina asks Roger and Ben to arrest Quinn but when they get there he's already gone.
Quinn has no criminal record and they have no idea what he's capable of. Callum is sent to bring Nicola into the station for safety. Smithy wonders if they could be in it together given that the knife from their home as used and found at Quinn's. It could be one way to end the marriage if she asked for a divorce and he refused. They are about to return to search Quinn's flat but are interrupted by the taxi driver who picked Quinn up from the hospital telling them he took Quinn to Nicola's house. Callum arrives to collect Nicola with Millie and shakes his asp out incase Quinn is inside. They find Nicola cowering behind the settee as she fears Quinn about to rape her. He tried to use his wound as a reason for her to leave Gerard and move in with him and Callum tells her that it was Quinn who stabbed himself. He'd have been able to copy keys from when there as a builder and that's how he got hold of the knife and made the phone calls, letting them connect to his answer phone so it looked as though they were talking. He's stolen her car and Callum puts out the registration.
Smithy finds Quinn's passport and sees he was deported from Australia so asks Sally to contact Interpol for more information. Ben finds ladies underwear and cosmetics in a drawer in Quinn's bedroom. The drawer also contains keys to Nicola's house. There are newspaper articles that describe a father commiting suicide in front of his 15 year old son. The surname is different but it's still Jake. They find a payslip for an internet cafe and attend, asking the boss if he's spoken to Quinn recently. He had been in approximately half an hour before them and needed to get something from his locker. He doesn't know what but Quinn did come out in a clean top. Whilst Smithy goes to the car for some bolt croppers to cut the padlock Jake installed on it, the boss tells Gina they get a lot of kids from the nearby school and Jake is really good with them but he generally keeps himself to himself. When the locker is open, Smithy pulls out a blooded tshirt, a pistol holder and bullet but no gun.
Heaton assures the Parry's they're digging into Quinn's background and trying to find as much as possible out about him. Nicola tells them Jake didn't have a happy childhood and that his parents and foster parents are dead. He'd spent some time in Melbourne and met a girl there but they broke up because 'she didn't understand him'. Smithy calls Heaton to one side and tells him about the gun and bullet. He's seems to have the gun tucked away away on the CCTV from the internet cafe and he's seen leading Sophie Parry outside. Quinn was arrested for stalking a woman in Australia but charges were dropped as there wasn't enough evidence. A few months later he was arrested again for sexual assault and still the charges wouldn't stick so they were dropped. Shortly after the boyfriend of the victim was shot and wounded. The police were certain Quinn did it but couldn't prove it, He was deported 2 weeks later. There was nothing suspicious about his father's suicide but they never found the gun used. He changed his name by taking on the surname of his foster family and then was in a succession of care homes before Social Services lost track of him.
It appears that he found out Sophie was a regular user of the internet cafe before Quinn started working there and that he applied for the job as a way to get closer to her for when he believed Nicola would dump Gerard and move in with him. The Parry's are terrified.
Smithy and Gina attend Sophie's school to talk to her best friend. They spot Nicola's car as soon as they arrive. Quinn is already there and armed. Gina asks for the headmistress but they hear a scream before she appears. Gina asks the head to action an evacuation. Smithy makes his way up to where the scream came from and is spotted by Parry who points his gun in his direction and tells him not to come closer as he takes 15 children, including Sophie and best friend Polly as well as a teacher hostage. Smithy assures him he won't and tries to get the rest of the children out. He uses the distraction to dart across to a dark room opposite Quinn. Gina tries to call Smithy on the radio. He turns his radio down and hides out of sight, not responding to the radio calls. His mobile goes to voicemail. Sally tells Gina and Smithy a girl ran from the car after Quinn parked and he followed her inside. A check of the car reveals an abduction kit of duct tape, rope and a hammer stored in the boot.
Smithy watches from a storeroom as Quinn stalks around the room. He asks the children for paracetamol and barks at Sophie to shut up when she tries to talk. He blames her for getting them into the situation as it was her who ran into school. He only took her because her mother wouldn't come without her. Heaton tells Gina to reply to Smithy to update him what's happening and that CO19 are en route.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Smithy uses his radio to transmit what is happening and listens as Jake threatens to shoot one of the children. He isn't prepared to wait. Officers hear Smithy shout 'POLICE!' over the radio as he goes in, hitting Jake on the back of the legs with his ASP. He shouts at the children to run out of the room. They then hear Quinn say 'You shouldn't have done that' and a gunshot. Gina shouts Smithy's name and the next thing they hear is Quinn saying 'You've got a man down'"

Here they are. Say hello to my new babies
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Face Claims:
Noah Schnapp -> Henry Theodore "Theo" Waters
Finn Wolfhard -> Jacob "Jake" Elliot Dernier
Joe Keery -> Steven James Hill
Charlie Heaton -> Adam Christopher "Chris" Waters
Maya Hawke -> Carly Isabelle Mills
Natalia Dyer -> Thalia Grace Haylen
Fun Facts:
Theo and Chris are brothers. Their the great grandsons of James Montgomery Falsworth one of the howling commando, who fought alongside Steve Rogers and Bucky Branes.
Jake is the great grandson of Jacques Dernier, who was also part of the howling commando. He was named after him.
Steve is a attampted clone of Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes. He was created in secret by a corrupt SHIELD scientist and his team. He is the result of an attempt to recreate the DNA of Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes, which they wanted to use to create an army of Super Soldiers. He was named after Steve and Bucky by the scientist just like the other attempts who didn't survived. When SHIELD found out about this experiment they ended this immediately by shutting down the lab and imprisoned those responsible. They took Steven to the SHIELD HQ, where he was eventually adopted by Maria Hill. Because the scientist didn't used the real DNA of Steve and Bucky but one that was created by himself he's not an exact clone of both of them and doesn't really shares the same DNA as them. He was about 10 when he was adopted by Maria. Later he became a trainee for SHIELD before he joined the young Howling Commando to keep an eye on the other kids.
Chris and Steve are best friends. Through Steve him and his brother Theo joined the team too.
Thalia and Carly are also best friends and classmates of Steve and Chris. They joined the team after Chris and his brother and were invited by Steve and Chris.
To be continued...
Side Info: The idea of Steve being a clone is from zimnyayavdova. At first I planed to make him just some guy who happened to be part of the team and who was a trainee from SHIELD. But then she pointed out that he kinda looks like the clone of Steve and Bucky and that he could have been adopted by Maria Hill so I just adopted this idea and added some extra infos. Which is pretty good because so I could name him Steve too just like the character the actor played in Stranger Things. When I was looking for names, I couldn't see him with any other name than Steve. But then again I didn't wanted him to be a complete clone of them so I came up with the idea that a crazy scientist wanted to clone Steve and Bucky but didn't had their complete DNA so he tried to creat it by himself and therefore changed the DNA. That's why despite being a clone of them he doesn't completley shares the same DNA but only a part of it. So basically, if a DNA test were done, there would be some matches like it would be with close relatives like an uncle etc.
@zimnyayavdova There you go. I hope you're happy now because I am.

Smiffina Episodes: Witness Part 4 - Deadly Secret (4/8)
Heaton, Gina and Neil head up a joint CID and Uniform briefing as it's the day of Carly Samuels' funeral. The threat of retaliation is high and Tito's 'status' amongst the gangs on the estate has increased because he's the prime suspect for the murder. The procession will start where Carly was murdered and there will be a high police presence. There were no fingerprints found on the gun from the canal but it does match the casings found in the car. A footprint was found not that far from where the gun was. Forensics are looking into what sort of shoe it's from. It's a difficult area to access and not somewhere people go often so they're hoping either a killer or a gang member that would give a lead. Gina hopes that someone will show their guilt today and insists they'll be there to catch it when they do.
Smithy arrives at Leanne's to accompany her, Dwayne and Brooke to the church. Leanne tells him that she's chosen a reading for Carly and Dwayne is going to read it. They head down to the scene which has become a memorial where people have left flowers and tributes. Above them, Tito smirks from a walkway with two members of his gang, the Creekside Boys, as the hearse arrives.
There's a burglary on other side of the estate whilst the residents are at Carly's funeral. As Nate and Diane deal with that one, another is assigned to them. It appears someone is taking advantage of most of the estate being out of their houses at the same time.
Gina, Smithy and Dwayne tell Tito they don't want or welcome his respects. Tito has a curious look on his face whilst Dwayne tells him to go. Smithy tells him to leave as the crowd start to jeer at him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As Nate and Diane are starting to head back to the memorial for crowd control they pass Leanne's and her flat appears to have also been broken into. The door hasn't been kicked in and the flat hasn't been trashed but Nate feels something isn't right. He makes his way to Carly's room to find it turned over.
At the memorial there's almost a riot between the residents and Tito's 'supporters'. Smithy wrestles Dwayne back to the car, reassuring Leanne that it's under control. In the chaos a gun is fired and the back window of the hearse shatters. The crowd scream and duck for cover or scarper. Uniform do their best to keep control and eye on all those who were in the area of the gun being fired and Smithy orders them to be swabbed and have their clothes tested for residue.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tito is arrested as Gina and Smithy cordon off the hearse and surrounding area. Ben finds the gun underneath the car and Tony makes it safe and bags it for forensics whilst Smithy lists orders for what he wants to happen including Tito being taken out of his sight 'before he finds his way onto a slab'. He is pulled away by Gina who orders him to leave Tito to them and sends Smithy back to support Leanne. Before he does, Nate updates Smithy on the burglaries... 😂
Tumblr media
The neighbours are muttering about doing something to find the burglar as they're not best pleased given the timing of the burglaries, the fact they ransacked Carly's room and also that so many police were present at the time and they still got away. Neil points out, rifling through a dead girls bedroom on the day of her funeral must be personal. Is it weird to clock that the room sign has changed since Carly died? (Witness part 1 on the left, part 3 on the right)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The undertaker refuses to let his staff continue for their own safety so Dwayne organises for her coffin to be carried by friends. Kezia and Jo are in a building opposite the church filming the entire procession.
Forensics run the fingerprints found and uniform speak to the most likely suspect whilst waiting, Marty Ford. It transpires that a window was the way in given material caught in the fastenings and that doors were only used on the way out making it unlikely that overweight Marty could have fit through. His daughter has a caution for theft so it's possible she could be following in her fathers footsteps.
At the station, none of the witnesses can reliably say that Tito drew a gun though a couple of kids have said that they saw him with one. The forensics have come back, Tito's prints are on the trigger *and* it's the same gun that shot Carly. In interview, Neil asks Tito why he showed up at the procession. He shrugs and claims it was just to pay his respects and denies it was provocation. He also denies having any contact with the gun before. He stares at Neil for a few seconds before saying someone pulled it on him but he didn't see who. He claims he grabbed it from the front - pauses to think - and then adds that he pointed it to make people back off and it went off then.

Dwayne reads 'All Is Well' by Henry Scott Holland. He becomes emotional and breaks down. Leanne takes over and makes an impassioned speech begging those who know anything to speak up. She ends it saying she'd like to bury her daughter in peace. 'We owe her that much'. Alesha leaps to her feet and runs out the church, followed by Dwayne. Jo and Kezia film them arguing outside. Jo reports it to Jack who, along with Smithy and Gina question Dwayne as the coffin is lead out the church. He says he thought Alesha might be feeling guilty so he followed her to ask her what she knew. She argued back that she's not just Tito's girlfriend, she's also Carly's best friend and she's grieving. Gina asks if he believes her and he confirms he does. The officers discuss it, trying to work out if she's feeling the pressure as she's stuck in the middle or if there's more to it. They decide to put a bit more pressure on her incase she's cracking and they can get some information.
There's been a small break through, the footprint is from a limited edition release of a specialised pair of trainers, they're not common - Max is tasked to check local suppliers and online to see if there's a record of a purchase.
On the Jasmine Allen, a group of vigilante youths have assaulted Marty Ward. His daughter, Chantelle, is mouthy and insists both her and her father are not guilty. Ethan, his quiet son - who he dismisses as a 'nancy boy, too bothered with arty-farty stuff' tells the officers he went to the funeral and returned when the officers saw him because he got upset. His dad calls him 'soft-lad' and he shouts back that 'some of us have respect for other people'. Marty growls at his son and throws the officers out of his house.
Jo and Sam go to visit Alesha who claims she only ran out because she felt overwhelmed and that she doesn't know anything else. Jo goes over her statement whilst Sam receives a call. She asks Alesha about the gun that was fired that morning and if she was anywhere near it. Alesha shakes her head. "I was miles away." "That's what I thought...." Sam muses. She asks if she's seen that gun - or any other before and insists not. "... So why's it got your fingerprints on it?" They arrest her and take her in. Alesha claims she has no idea why her prints are on the gun. They explain she could be looking at conspiracy to murder which is still a life sentence even if she wasn't involved in actually shooting Carly. Alesha tearfully shakes her head, telling them she wasn't in the car. She claims not to recognise the trainers either. Jo asks if she had to choose between Carly and Tito and she insists she didn't. Sam asks how Leanne's speech made her feel, was it guilty? Jo asks if she believes in an afterlife and what Carly would think if she could see her funeral. Alesha is clearly rattled.
Smithy is comforting Leanne as she surveys the mess and say she has no idea who could have done it. Smithy asks Roger to speak with Tony and get him to help move the wake to Dwayne's house. The only thing Leanne can see missing is a friendship band from Carly's mirror that was definitely there before she left as she saw it.
Carly's bracelet was bought from a stall on the market that is run by Chanelle and it's Ethan who makes them. Whilst there the fingerprints come back and Chanelle is not the burglar and she insists it's not Ethan either because he hates things like that. Nate reviews Jo and Kezia's footage from the procession to look for Ethan. Gina tells them they have the names of the vigilantes who attacked Marty and they're about to go and arrest them. Diane reports the neighbours saw someone resembling Ethan running away from Leanne's and Gina dispatches them to arrest him before anyone else takes the law into their own hands and assaults him too. When they get there, the vigilantes have already visited but Ethan isn't home. Marty couldn't care less what happens to his son and said he wasn't going to stop them going after him. "... He's just a kid." Nate blinks. "Yeah, my kid. So butt out." Nate squares up to him before he spots the stolen property behind him. Marty says it's the things that Ethan stole that morning for his 'Getting the hell out of here' fund.
Tito has to be bailed as they don't have enough evidence to charge him yet and Alesha hasn't come up with anything. Heaton allows them to keep Alesha a while longer to keep her away from Tito's influence and to allow her to sweat a little in the cells. Chanelle steps up for her brother and insists he can come live with her cos she wants out too, her father is nothing but hard work and doesn't care about either kid. She tells Nate that Ethan was soft on Carly and made her a friendship bracelet especially for her. They track Ethan down to his mothers grave and find him being attacked by the vigilantes. He admits stealing Carly's bracelet as it was the first one he'd ever made, Carly loved it and he loved her and he wanted to remember her by.
Leanne catches up with Smithy about the burglary and he tells her not to give up hope of people coming forward as they've got both guns, the car, forensics and they're trying to track down a pair of limited edition trainers with a special foot tread. Leanne smiles a little and nods, "I was fuming when Carly spent a months worth of benefit on a pair." Smithy chuckles. "For her or Brooke?" Leanne tells him they were Dwayne's Christmas present the year before when they were still together. Smithy's immediately intrigued and suspicious. He quietly tells her that they're looking for the owner of the shoes because they suspect whoever was wearing it of throwing one of the guns into the canal. They show her the picture of the shoes and Leanne confirms that they look exactly the same as the ones Dwayne owns.
Smithy reports back to Sam who tells Jack and Neil. Dwayne's alibi is his daughter but Jack suggests a gentle question with his mother and the neighbours to see if anyone can back him up and then if anyone saw him down by the canal. Sam points out that Dwayne is obviously a very good liar if he was involved to keep so calm and play the innocent around Leanne and the police officers constantly in and out. Smithy pleads with Leanne to act normal, they don't even know if it is his shoe yet and they can't let on until they know for sure. If they let on, they won't get the evidence needed so they must stay calm. Dwayne asks if she's ok, having spotted Leanne looking over at him and she nod's. Smithy gently tells her to go sit down, telling Dwayne it's just the stress of the day and nothing to worry about.
CID discuss the case and Sam suggests that the shoes might not be what the killer was wearing when Carly was murdered. Given the suspects all live on the estate it's possible they went back, changed including their shoes and dumped the clothes in one place and the gun in another. It could also explain Alesha's argument with Dwayne if she's covering for both him AND Tito and instead of suggesting she was feeling guilty - he could have been telling her to pull herself together. Jack sends both DI's down to interview Alesha. Neil takes a nicer stance with Alesha and claims him blaming her for being involved is a bit rich considering that they now suspect Dwayne was involved himself. Sam and Neil float how it must have been for Alesha to watch 'Mister Dignity, there in the hour of need for Leanne' at the funeral and questioning if he was feeling guilty or genuinely upset. Alesha is still terrified to stand up against the boys. Sam tells her she's Carly's friend and that they don't believe she's in the middle of it by choice.

Leanne is a sneaky little bugger who asks Dwayne if she can go somewhere quiet, perhaps his room for a little while. She comes across to tell Smithy that she needs some time out and peace and asks him if he'd come sit with her. He agrees and follows her and Dwayne. She ushers Smithy to Dwayne's wardrobe once he leaves and he finds the shoes quickly, holding them up to show Leanne - they're exactly the same as the ones in the picture.
Alesha admits that Dwayne and Tito both shot the guns that killed Carly. She says she lied because he's her boyfriend and he threatened her if she spoke out. The night Carly died, Tito asked Alesha to come to the flat. She thought he just wanted to frighten Marlon when he left. She heard sirens so knew something bad had happened. Dwayne and Tito returned to the flat and they were panicked and changed. Tito had hold of both guns. She asked them if Carly was alright and both started shouting at her to get out the flat. She went to throw the guns out the flat and thats why she touched them. She heard Tito tell Dwayne to throw the gun in the canal and he kept the other as protection. He ordered her to be his alibi, she refused and told him to talk to the police but he threatened her life if she didn't cover for him. "If I don't do what he said, I'd end up like Carly."
John gives his permission - both Dwayne and Tito can be arrested.
