Eren x Hashira! Reader Request

Request: The request was so long I decided to shorten it down for y’all. Basically the reader is one of the hashira from demon slayer and while fighting muzan they get transported to the attack on titan universe where they try to blend in. They eventually meet Eren and fall in love with him.

A/N: This was supposed to be written like almost a month ago but it was so long I had to take breaks while writing lol. Thank you so much for the request and I hope I wrote it alright. It’s been a hot minute since I’ve watched season 3 part 2 and I don’t have time to rewatch it so I’m going off of pure memory and making stuff up. Sorry lol. Idk how well the ending is because I didn’t know where to end, so please let me know if you all want a part 2!

How exactly was it that you were the only Hashira able to even stand a chance against Muzan? Couldn’t you at least have some backup, like Giyu or Sanemi? You had been fighting the Demon King since the sun had set, and the sun would be rising soon. You were getting weaker as the battle continued. Muzan had begun using demon arts that you did not know the effects of.

The sun was beginning to rise and Muzan gave you a sly grin. “You’ve put up a good fight, Hashira, but I’m afraid we’re going to have to continue this some other time.” The demon ran off into the nearby woods. He was faster than you, especially in your state, but you still ran after him.

“No,” you breathed out weakly, leaning against a nearby tree. “No no no no no,” you panicked. You were so close! Victory was right there!

You slid down the base of the tree, falling to the ground. “The sun is rising. I’ll be safe,” you told yourself. “I just need to rest for a while.” Your grip on your sword loosened as you drifted off into a much needed sleep.

You woke up, groaning with the amount of light shining in your eyes. How long have you been asleep? The sun was still out, but for how long? You looked to the sky to see the sun setting in the west. Jumping to your feet you gripped your sword tightly. Muzan would be coming back for you to finish the fight, you were sure. You looked around you, searching for a sign of an attack. But you froze. You were no longer in the woods you fell asleep in. You were in an empty field, standing next to a lonely tree. Off in the distance was a gigantic wall. This wasn’t any place you had heard of before.

“Maybe the other Hashira are playing some sick joke,” you told yourself. “Come on now Sanemi, this isn’t funny!” You looked around again but didn’t see anyone familiar. There were houses in the distance, maybe a village? You decided to take a look around and see if maybe you knew where you were. Sliding your sword back into its sheath and covering it with your haori, you made your way into the village.

As you fought your way through the busy streets you realized that the people around you weren’t dressed like you were. In fact, they were all looking at you weirdly, some pointing at you and whispering.

“Hey mister/ms, where did you get those clothes?” someone yelled at you. "You look ridiculous!” Everyone around you suddenly burst into laughter. Not wanting all of the unnecessary attention, you took off running. Unsure of where you were going, you eventually made it to the outskirts of the small down. The sun was fully set now and darkness had overtaken the village. It was hard to see without a lamp, and you did not know where to go. What if there were demons around causing all of this confusion?

You sat down in the grass to collect your thoughts. You were in an unknown location with unknown people. There was a giant wall spanning as far as the eye could see. You were unsure if there were demons nearby, and you weren’t tired due to your long rest.

Taking notice of a horse stable not far from where you were sitting, you decided to get away from the village. You snuck over, not seeing anybody nearby, and opened one of the stables. You looked inside to see a beautiful black horse munching on some hay, its saddle hanging on a hook in the back of the stable.

“Hey there,” you said quietly to the horse, holding out your hand for it to sniff. “I’m Y/N. Why don’t we get you saddled up?” The horse showed no signs of fear, so you rested your hand on its back, running it along as you walked behind the horse. You didn’t want to spook it and cause it to kick you.

You quickly saddled the horse up, jumping up onto it and guiding it out of the stable. Once you got out of the stable you took off into the distance.

You rode until dawn when you found another village. It was located in a crevice in the wall, like an extension. I slowed my horse to a stop, hopping off and tying the lead rope around a nearby post. There was what looked to be a small tavern a bit down the road so I decided I’d ask where I was. Taking off my haori, I stuffed it in the storage pouch on the horse’s saddle and made my way to the building.

The small tavern was packed with people. There was a group of people sitting in one corner causing a lot of commotion. You took in their appearance, getting ideas for new clothes seeing as what you were wearing clearly wasn’t the way people dressed here. They were wearing white pants and a white shirt, clad with dark brown boots and a light brown jacket. There was a patch with roses sewn onto it.

“You lost?” someone asked from behind you. You whipped around to see a man in the same getup as the guys you were watching.

“Actually, yeah, I am,” you answered hesitantly. “Can you tell me where I am?”

“You’re in the Shiganshina District,” he answered.

You nodded thanks and left the building. You were beginning to get hungry so you walked to a nearby food stand. Sneaking around the stand you snuck a piece of bread into your pocket. Thanks to your training as a Hashira, you knew how to sneak around places without being seen.

You continued walking the streets of ‘Shiganshina’ (whatever that meant) and took in your surroundings. You stole some clothes from a clothing shop, changed quickly in the restroom and then returned your original clothes with your horse.

Later in the day, around the time you’d usually eat dinner, you were sitting with your horse, looking up at the wall. You had been sitting there for hours trying to think of a way to get to the other side of the wall. There was a large gateway not far from where you were sitting but it never opened.

You were munching on a stolen apple when suddenly there was a large boom and your ears started to ring. Debris flew around you as you ducked down and covered your head.

What the hell is going on? You thought to yourself. Demons?

“Titans!” Someone screamed near you. “Everyone run! A titan broke through the wall!”

You looked up, freezing in fear at the sight. You had seen a lot of things in your time but this wasn’t on the list. There, standing higher than the wall, was what looked to be a giant model of the muscular system.

People started snapping out of their own fear, screaming and running away from the wall. Your horse was going crazy from all of the commotion, startling you out of your trance. You jumped onto the horse, untying it quickly and running as far away from the wall as you possibly could.

You eventually ended up at a boating dock, joining the large crowd of people boarding the boat and leaving your horse behind. Once you were settled in a cramped corner of the boat, you watched as the village you were just in was going up in flames. You had never seen such a sight.

“What are those things?”you muttered to yourself.

“They’re titans,” a boy with blonde hair said from beside you. “I never thought I’d see one in person. I just hope that my friends are ok.”

As the next few weeks passed you learned more and more about where you were. You learned everything about the titans, the walls, and even the different branches of the military. By talking to the people around you, you concluded that the only demons here were the titans themselves. They weren’t like the demons from back home with demon blood arts and such, and by what you saw that one day they could potentially be much worse.

As a Hashira, it’s your job to protect people. Even though you don’t know how to get back home and you still don’t have a clear idea of where you are, you decided that you still needed to help protect the people around you. Afterall, the people within the second wall were kind enough to help as much as they could. They provided what little clothing and food they had left in order to help you. The least you could do was protect them. WIth that, you entered the military.

Graduating at the top of your section was a piece of cake. With your skills as a swordsman you had very little struggle using the new weapons you were given. You didn’t like them as much as you liked your own personal demon slayer sword but you couldn’t risk using it. You didn’t know if this place had the materials to fix it if it ever broke.

You joined the Scouting Legion without a second thought. Your ‘friends’ thought you were insane, all except for one. You learned his name as Eren, and he was friends with the blonde boy who you sat next to on the boat. At the time, the only thing you and Eren had in common was the passion to end all of the titans and join the Survey Corps.

Captains Levi Ackerman and Erwin Smith took you in almost immediately because of your skill with your ODM Gear. You were assigned to Levi’s squadron, which you learned was one of the best squadrons to be in. Not long after you joined the scouts were you back up with the only people that agreed with you from the beginning. Eren, Armin, and MIkasa. You became close friends with Mikasa and you were sure it was because you both had to deal with stubborn, hot-headed boys all the time.

Your squadron was soon moved to an old abandoned military base further away from civilization in order to keep a good eye on Eren. When you first discovered that he was a titan, you, like everyone else, tried to kill him. Mikasa was dead set on ending you if you made any advancements, but you realized that he could be helpful in fighting the other titans.

Today’s orders were to clean the entire HQ. Levi had paired everyone up in order to have some ‘team bonding’. He had paired you up with Eren, claiming you were strong and trustworthy enough to keep the boy from doing anything bad.

“Wanna hear a joke?” you asked playfully. Ever since you first met Eren you could tell that he wasn’t a fan of you. Since you’d be working together (and all of your other friends were in some other universe), you tried to loosen the tension and make new friends.

“No,” he said sternly, continuing his cleaning. You decided to let it slide, leaving him for the time being.

As you two continued to clean the room, you got into an argument. Since you had been working with Levi longer you knew how picky he was about how clean things were supposed to be. When Eren claimed that he was done with the table, you argued with him that Levi wouldn’t be happy and he was going to make the two of you clean the entire room again. This led to Eren yelling at you and you yelling back, drawing the attention of your squad.

“What’s going on in here?” asked Connie.

“Yeah, you two sound like an old married couple,” Sasha added.

Eren fumed, turning to look away from everyone. “Like I’d marry that sad excuse of a soldier.”

That set you off, causing you to launch yourself at the boy. Armin, Jean, and Connie had to jump out and keep you from attacking the boy.

Later that night you were making your way back to your room after a meeting with Levi. HQ was quiet as you wandered the halls, listening for any signs of movement. You knew titans shouldn’t be anywhere near HQ, but there was always a chance. As you walked you couldn’t help but think about your home. Were the other Hashira looking for you, or did they just assume you were dead? You missed being a demon slayer and spending time with your friends and family.

As you walked past the stairs down to the prison you heard muffled noises come from below you. Pausing, you krept closer to the doorway and listened. The only person down there should be Eren, maybe a guard or two. You descended the stairs quietly, peeking around the corner when you reached the bottom. There were no guards in sight but the sound was much clearer now. You scanned the many cells to see Eren curled up in his bed, head between his knees. You could hear him sniffle and see a slight tremble every time he sniffed.

“Eren?” you called out quietly. The boy snapped his head up, quickly wiping at his eyes.

“What do you want?” he snapped. “Isn’t it past lights out?”

“I just left from a meeting with Levi,” you answered, taking a seat in front of his cell. “What’s wrong with you?”

“Like I’d tell,” he scoffed, looking away. “You wouldn’t care anyway.”

The two of you sat in silence for a moment, you leaning back against the cold stone wall to get more comfortable. “I lost my family too, ya know,” you said quietly.

“What?” Eren asked, not as angry now. Your soft e/c eyes met his ocean blue ones.

“When the colossal titan broke the wall, I was on a boat with Armin,” you started. “He was worried about you and Mikasa, and later on when we got back inside the walls, he told me how you lost both of your parents.”

“Yeah, so what,” Eren commented.

“That takes a toll on someone, especially a kid your age.” Your eyes unfocused as you dove deeper in your thoughts. Tears brimmed the edges of your eyes, threatening to fall. “At least you have Mikasa and Armin though. I lost everyone. My friends, my family.”

Eren moved to sit down in front of you inside his cell. “What part of Shiganshina are you from?” he asked quietly. “I’ve never really seen you around before.”

You thought for a moment. You couldn’t tell him where you were from, but you also didn’t know how to answer his question. Sure, you’d learned a lot about this new place, but not enough to answer his question. “I don’t remember that much,” you lied, pushing your hair back to show a nasty injury you got while fighting Muzan. “I was hit with some debris as I was leaving and it kinda messed up my memory.”

“Oh,” Eren sighed. “I’m sorry.” He hesitated. “And I’m sorry for yelling at you earlier.”

“It’s ok,” you responded. “We’ve all been through so much.” You wiped at your face, drying your tears.

“Don’t cry,” Eren said softly. His hand reached between the bars and rested on your knee. “I know it’s hard. That’s why I’m going to wipe out all of the titans and make things right again.”

You and Eren became close friends after that night, and he even became protective over you. Armin and Mikasa noticed quickly how Eren would keep a close eye on you and follow you around everywhere. They thought it was funny how he’d try and protect you on missions outside of the walls even though you didn’t need his help. You ranked even higher than Mikasa and were a very skilled soldier, so there was no need for Eren’s protection. But the two friends chose to say nothing about it. They were just happy that Eren was getting along with you. It would be a pain to have you against them.

When the armored titan returned, Eren was filled with pure panic. Your ODM gear malfunctioned and you had no way to escape with the others. In an attempt to protect your friends and teammates, you jumped into battle. The armored titan wasn’t too far away from the rooftop you had fallen onto. You jumped off of the building and onto the titan, immediately stabbing your swords into the titan. It shrieked, giving Eren an opening for attack.

Your teammates watched from afar in aw. You didn’t have working ODM gear yet you seemed just as fast as you’d be using it. For just a moment, they thought you were Levi. The titan tried to grab you but he was too slow. Eren managed to grab you off of the titans back and ran as fast as he could.

“Eren!” you screamed, beating your fists against his hand in an attempt to get him to let you go. He let out a small whine in titan, letting his teammates jump on him as he ran back. The armored titan was still far behind you all, watching as you took shelter behind the wall again. Mikasa cut Eren free from his titan form, causing you to fall from the titan’s grasp. You fell to the ground with a groan. Restoring the wall had taken a lot from you and it was finally catching up. You felt like you had just fought Muzan all over again.

“Y/N!” You felt Eren land beside you. His skin was radiating heat and he looked like he was about to faint. “Are you ok?” He reached out and his warm hand met your cheek. He wiped away a tear you didn’t know you had shed. Your body was in so much pain. “You’re hurt,” he commented.

“I’ll be ok,” you coughed. Your back was in pain and your vision was going black. “I’m ok Eren, thank you.”

Mikasa and Armin landed beside the two of you. “We need to get her back to HQ,” Armin said. Mikasa leaned down to check your pulse as you passed out, and Armin caught Eren as he fainted from exhaustion. The two friends picked you and Eren up, carrying the two of you on their backs.

“He really likes her, huh,” Armin commented.

Mikasa sighed, “Yeah, he does. He really does.”

"Eugene? you down here old man?"

I hear my grandpa coughing his lungs out as a reply.

"Hey! You started without me!" as I continued down the second flight of steps into the basement i could here him laughing.

"Sorry empress but you shouldn't leave the elderly waiting *cough* *cough*"

I couldn't help but chuckle at the smoke still causing his lungs to compress.

"Or maybe you should leave the smoking to the pros gramps" I grabbed the bong from his wrinkled hands and the lighter off the brown old dusty couch then took a hit. I noticed the smile on my grandpa's face as I exhaled and couldn't help but mirror his expression. "You finally stop coughing old man?"

"Guess I just needed to show you how it's done huh?" He let out a loud boisterous laugh. "I've been doing this shit since vhs tapes came out young lady! You think your showing me?" My smile grew bigger as he snatched the bong from my hands and took another hit only to start lightly coughing again. I couldn't help but burst out laughing at my poor old pappy trying to hide his coughs. He started laughing as well the best he could, loud and infectious as always. "Okay *cough* maybe im- *cough* *cough* getting too old for this shit" I looked up at him as I finished rolling up a joint. "You once told me you'd 'Never be too old to get high' what happened to that?" He proceeded to slowly turn to the side and lay back on the old couch hearing the springs and wood creak and groan beneath him.

He then pulled out a little squirt bottle and dropped some water into his reddened eyes. "Did I say that? Must of been too high to remember" he said with a chuckle. He passed me the bottle and I did the same seeing as I had already finished my joint and we would have to get back to Jackson soon. "Alright empress you lock up and I'll get the horses" he told me this all the while not moving and inch. I got up though and started to lock up anyway. After I finished I circled back to the couch. "Gramps?.......Gramps?!.....not again!" He was fast asleep and if anyone knew one thing about my grandfather besides his drug habits it would be that he sleeps like the dead. I shook my head with a light chuckle at his usual behavior. I decided not to bother trying to wake him considering how rarely it actually worked. Picking up some old notebook I ripped out one of the yellowing pages and scribbled a note for him when he wakes, making sure to do a little doodle of him passed out with drool dripping down the side of his face and left it on his chest. After that I jogged upstairs and locked everything up their. I grabbed my horse and was on my way back to Jackson with some extra goodies (courtesy of gramps) for me and my friends. The dance was tonight but we where all gonna have a little session before at Ellie's. Ellie. That girls something else. Just thinking about her made me smile as I watched the big pearly gates to the safe haven that Jacksonville was open. I nodded at Jesse as I rode by to the stables and handed opal over. After she was in her stall I fed her an Apple and brushed her Maine. Once I was finished with that I headed back out only to be stopped by none other then my favorite little red head.

What have you given up on recently? Nothing important; the only thing I can think of applies to a game. I was after the way-too-fucking-expensive dinosaur mount that is very soon going away in World of Warcraft, but the stress it was causing me wasn’t worth it. The time investment and how it was only a “maybe” of getting it in time Favorite condiment for fries? Ketchup. Ever had bangs? I did as a little kid. Do you know any Italian people? And a PokeStop nearby to bait me lmfao. Plus the weather will be cooler, so I intend to make a lot of progress. Mom is currently out of state with her mother because she’s literally on her deathbed, so she STOCKED ME THE FUCK UP on groceries. The freezer is literally jam-packed, so I’m focusing on eating food from there. Did you have a nap today? Yes. I almost never, ever make it through the day without one, especially now with having nightmares every fucking time I sleep. Are you named after anyone? But anyway, I’ll bite and say least necessary for *the most* people, in my opinion anyway. Gym. It’s very discriminatory towards people with more limited physical capabilities (and I don’t just mean literally disabled), and it’s also just very uncomfortable and/or embarrassing to some people. Like I’d fuckin cry if in my current state, I was forced to “run” a mile, because I physically couldn’t come even close. A person, a younger one especially, should never be subjected to humiliation at the hands of a class schools deem “necessary” when it absolutely is not. Okay I’m in a talkative mood and this is turning into an essay so I’mma move along now. When you were a kid, what games did you always play on the playground? I think for as long as I had recess, my go-to was ALWAYS the swings. I fucking loved swingsets. I loved playing 4 Square or whatever it was called. For some reason, I still have this childlike excitement *early* into a power outage. Ahhh, first off - thank you for asking! I’m happy to gush about my trio of idiots wardens :D Secondly - don’t apologize for asking! I love talking about my OCs, I’m just bad about keeping up with posting and such lately (but hope to fix that soon, especially if I make this extra sideblog). ANYWHO, gonna jump in and apologize now if this gets long, lol.

SO I’ll hit romance first since that’s quicker and easier. Rylee and Ise (eventually) become a thing - they’re married by the time DAI rolls around. Typical grumpy asshole falls in love with ray of sunshine and doesn’t want to admit it at first. She tries to play it cool and ends up playing it too cool until she gets some help from the couple companions she befriends (mostly Zev, since Sten doesn’t care that much, but he offers his insight on what qunari do). But they don’t actually, like, really become a romance-y thing until after ghoul!Tamlen shows up and oof that one is painful.

Eleri I… don’t know yet, to be honest. She was a re-imagining of my old Cousland, who romanced Alistair, but with Eleri I’m actually leaning a bit more toward Zevran. But uh, still not sure yet, I’m mad indecisive on this one. tbh even Nate is in the running for her *shrug emoji*

On to the rest!

DA:O

They don’t all join the standard way, I guess, but they do all meet at Ostagar. Ducan officially recruits Rylee and Isethari, Eleri recruits herself, lol.

Rylee is recruited first. Standard Tabris origin there and it’s on the way to Ostagar that they plan to stop and see the Dalish elves and that’s when they find Isethari half-dead in the middle of the woods (it was sheer luck, really). Duncan sends Rylee, carrying the nearly-dead Ise, to the camp and goes to investigate the area. Other than Rylee wandering around the Dalish camp like an awestruck idiot, most of the Mahariel origin is the same. Rylee stays behind in the camp, though, when Ise and co. are sent back to the ruin where they run into Duncan. Once they leave, Rylee earns herself the duty of ensuring that Isethari doesn’t run on their trip to Ostagar, bc let me tell you Ise is not happy about leaving without finding Tamlen.

Now for Eleri, she escapes the castle with only her mabari after her parents sacrifice themselves to buy her time to get out. She manages to make it to the stables for her horse and rides as hard as she can to Ostagar, desperate to find her brother. When she basically gets told that he’s out scouting and she likely won’t see him before the battle, she asks about the wardens and is pointed toward Duncan. At that point, she goes up to him like: “I just slaughtered my way through an army of men trying to assassinate my family. I have nothing left but this dream, please.” He asks clarification, she provides, he eventually agrees and sends her off to gather the other recruits and report back with Alistair. It’s at that point she meets Rylee and Isethari, who are hanging around close together by the quartermaster (after Rylee nearly kills Daveth for hitting on that one woman, you know the one).

From there up until the start of the fight, it progresses as it normally would in canon. They all get their quest, go out into the wilds, etc. etc. And once they survive the Joining, they have a pre-meeting meeting thing. Alistair and Eleri join the meeting as per canon, and Duncan assigns Rylee and Ise to the remaining warden forces. So from there, canon-typical for Eleri. Go to the tower, light the beacon, get almost killed and then saved by Flemeth, etc.

Rylee and Ise, however, have a much more trying experience. Rylee takes a genlock to the face (claws? blade? idk lmao) for Ise to protect her - this being around the time they can see the battle is going south. Duncan’s already been killed at this point and Ise starts to panic (she hates fighting as it is) and manages to half convince, half drag Rylee from the fighting and they flee the battle to the nearest town (naturally, Lothering). They end up meeting up with Eleri and Alistair (and Morrigan) again and explain what happened from their perspective and then work with Eleri and Alistair to come up with a plan of action.

Eleri takes up the role of warden-commander (since Alistair and Ise don’t want to lead and everyone knows Rylee leading is a Very Bad Idea™).

Uhhh, key highlights of what they do I guess would be:

Sided with the Mages

Irving saved, Uldred dead etc etc

Put Bhelen in power

Branka’s killed

sent Dagna off to study ofc

Sided with the Dalish against the werewolves

two elves with one being Dalish and the other violently racist made it a simple choice for Eleri to lessen a headache later (she had way too much else to worry about than argue with them)

Helped Redcliffe and saved Conner

demon killed w/Jowan’s help (he does the ritual and Morrigan is sent in to yeet the demon out)

Isolde’s alive

side note: didn’t poison the Urn

Anora rules w/ Alistair

Loghain alive & recruited as a warden (recruited post-final fight)

Alistair still performs the ritual with Morrigan

Awakening

Not too much of note here. Rylee is the one that finds Nathaniel, though, and it does not go well for him. It’s only Ise that stays Rylee’s hand from killing him. When they bring him to Eleri, she immediately recruits him when she realizes it’s her old friend. He’s still pretty ticked, but softens about the whole thing a bit when he realizes Eleri is around.

With more wardens, they’re able to more easily protect the Keep and Amaranthine. And the Architect does live (much to Rylee’s great annoyance).

DA2 & DAI

Sometime in here is when Rylee and Ise get married. They have two ceremonies - one in the Denerim alienage to honor Rylee’s culture and then again when they find Ise’s clan outside Kirkwall.

Hawke and co. do run into Ise and Rylee in the Deep Roads during the expedition (as they are canon with Ashley Hawke, there’s not a twin to save). BUT the two of them help Ash and crew gtfo and back safely to Kirkwall. Turns out they saw Bodahn on their way into the Deep Roads to investigate and got a tip to keep an eye out for some lost members of the expedition (the whole leaving suddenly without them thing didn’t sit right with him).

Later on, in that mission where you run into Nate? Eleri’s with him, though doesn’t actually advertise herself as the warden-commander while chatting with Ash. Ash isn’t dumb, though, (not always, at least) and gets a feeling Eleri might be kinda more in charge than she was told. So when wardens start disappearing, she takes a chance and makes contact. It ultimately pays off when Eleri sends Rylee and Ise to help the Inquisition.

During the events of Here Lies the Abyss in Inquisition, it’s Rylee that stays behind to buy everyone time to escape. And, much like when Ise was taken from her clan, she has to be dragged out - this time by the Inquisitor herself (Olivia, for the record) - kicking, screaming, and utterly sobbing that they’re leaving her wife behind.

BUT because fuck canon, Rylee survives and kinda wanders around the raw Fade until she finds another open rift. This ends up dumping her into the ass end of Orlais somewhere and it takes her a while to make her way back to Skyhold, but dammit! She and Ise do get a happy ending. It does take a while though, it really does. And for that duration, Ise doesn’t leave Skyhold for anything after they get her back there. Resigned, more than anything, she usually perches on an empty wall away from the hustle and bustle of the main areas near the stables. She also doesn’t eat much, only what small bits that Cole brings her.

As for Eleri, she - along with Nate, Velanna, and Sigrun - are searching for the cure. And I really haven’t thought much beyond that.

MAN this got long, I hope you don’t mind! I had a lot of fun thinking about this and gushing a bit about my girls and what they do :D So thank you, again, for asking! One day, I think I plan to write something detailing their journey from start to finish in DAO and maybe beyond, but it’d probably be a series of drabbles? I struggle with long fics and flowing from one chapter to the next, but maybe.

today’s zeldablogging which is full of spoilers:

the sight of my new sword sends a thrill into my heart tbh

if i ever replay this game, which tbh idk if i will, it's so Big, SS was only a third or a quarter of this size and i've only beaten it twice, im going to get it as soon as possible next time

anyway im back at the tower i suppose i'll crawl down and check out the enemies properly

i dont like gliding to towers i've discovered bc it feels like i've been plopped down into the middle of nowhere with no context

vs if i walk to them i know "where" i came from/am, if that makes any sense

(it doesn't)

i can see that flying thing closer than ever from here and it's DEFINITELY a divine beast no doubts left

yk tho. i dont WANNA check out the enemies. i wanna find that weird blanked out place at the top of my map!

haha i can feel it already

i'm so anxious to get to the end of the game and uncover the plot im gonna be like "FUCK EXPLORING" for the rest of it and only go to the places i need, now that i've got this map

i can always do more thorough exploration after, i've been spoiled that there's postgame content, but even if there's not like any other zelda game it'd put me right back before the final battle

god im having to go ALL THE WAY AROUND the lost woods i can't even glide over the nearby river to make the path shorter i bet there's an easier way to do this from the other side but i havent been there yet

aww, i don't see beedle here...i was sure he'd be at everyone, i don't think i've encountered one where he isn't yet...

i'll be honest, i've grown kind of bored of combat

and know i'm biased but i genuinely i don't think it's me, i think it's the game's difficulty/"difficulty"

i used to see monster camps and think STRATEGY, is there a beehive, barrels to blow up, a place i can glide down from, this is so fun!

which gradually morphed into "okay this is gonna be a bit of a long haul but there'll be Treasure and sniping from afar is still fun"

idk if the black bokoblins/moblins/etc show up after you've done more things or bc of the area you're in but i'm noticing more enemies with more health, higher defense, and higher attack, and the barrels/metal boxes/beehives/etc becoming rarer, and when they do appear, being almost pointless to use because you're more likely to blow yourself up than do any real damage to the mobs

and like i love this game. it absolutely deserves every bit of its raid reviews, and this feeling COULD just be because i've been marathoning it for 12 straight days and i'm anxious to see the end and get back to my life

but to me, attacking a flat area full of black moblins and bokoblins isn't fun even with the stealth/snipe element bc you can't take them out in 1-3 shots, you have to stop and slash at them, and that alerts EVERYONE else, and it's just pointless

(lol i found some flat ruins by the stable which triggered this rant)

like, even the yiga clan hideout - my instinct was to snipe the enemies as i went, which would have made it a bit more fun imo, even though the stealth bit wasn't bad and i enjoyed that section quite a lot

i just don't like the—idk a better term for it unfortunately—"fake difficulty" thing where you just have to slog your way thru 1000s of random battles, i don't like it in rpgs either

kind of like almost wherever i explored at first i would run into minibosses rarely and then almost constantly

which, yeah, most of them aren't as hard now, But Still, it's the point of the thing

maybe i'm a bit defensive about "real gamer" bullshit and "women can't game" stereotypes while being super bad at games my whole life while my brother was fantastic at them

but like i just don't find that fun?? sure a good challenge once in awhile like eventide isle would be fine (even tho that was hellish and i'll never do it again) but that should be. every once in awhile, not. EVERYWHERE

anyway

frankly @ this point i'm REALY tempted to speed thru it before my surgery

bc i would hate to be laid up in bed and still have to worry about mobile browsing bc botw spoilers and tumblr's interface being awful

anyway i can;'t travel further in this direction without getting over near rito/hyrule field territory

and not only are those towers further away than i'd like but i wanted to do gerudo highlands first so back to the desert i go i guess rip

yeah, this game is definitely still as full of fun secrets and as deslightful as when i first began playing it

and it came at a good time bc i just lost angela and it helped me feel Real Joy again

most displeasure i find with it now is because "AAAH ZELDA AT SOME POINT I NEED TO GET BACK TO MY FUCKING LIFE"

i'm so worried about spoilers and being behind now that some of the fun is draining away

i think after a bit of time has passed i'll either go back and finish exploring properly or straight up start a new file

and do it Thoroughly

when i can relax and go at my own pace instead of feeling like i'm racing the internet, my dashboard, my friends, my brother, etc

this region is soooo cold and i am so certain i'll get better cold gear in the rito area that im just activating the shrines and not even going inside to use my little food as efficiently as possible

probably there are guardians and the answer isnt THAT easy but

the entire maze seems to be one path which is absolutely useless to me like it doesn't look like a maze you solve on paper so i obviously have to find a door or go above or below all that somehow
