Yes watching Good Omens yet again ...
"Quelle surprise"
During the trial in Hell of Crowley (aka Aziraphale disguised as AJC).
There is a line when they ask ...
'Creatures of Hell.... you have heard the evidence against the demon known as Crowley, what is your verdict?'
"GUILTY GUILTY GUILTY!"
Reminds me of a line in Kate Bush song.
It comes from her masterpiece The 9th Wave from 1985.. Side 2 of The Hounds of Love Album. I ADORE it... it was considered very weird and strange back then....and still is to many folks now.
The line comes from a song called Waking the Witch... very apt for Season 1 G.O.
"What say you good people...
GUILTY, GUILTY, GUILTY !"
Everything I watch the scene, I hear Kate's song in my head.
In many ways, Good Omens opens the files on the hard drive of my memories frequently.....
God only knows what else I will post about my personal triggers from Good Omens...lol!
Original album version of Waking the Witch.
I was lucky enough to see it performed live in 2014, I had wanted to see Kate perform live since her previous tour in 1979 when I was too young to go.
I love Kate's wings as the blackbird part of Waking the Witch as she is in the water, it reminds of Crowley's fallen Angel wings and also when he was being pulled to hell in Edinburgh.
Screenshots from video below .
Just found this if anyone wants to see The 9th Wave live.
Just audio in next link live.
Kate has become very popular since Stranger Things, but I remember her first appearance on Top of the Pops in 1978.
Kate and David Bowie guided me to Lindsay Kemp as a teenager... somehow, we all find a path if we follow our dreams. I did meet Kate numerous times backstage at Kemp shows as she often came to see Lindsay and Douglas McNicol, who danced with her a lot around 1982....during The Dreaming era.
Kate and Douglas.
We sadly lost Douglas 2 days after Christmas 2023. Rest in Peace McDougie.♡
Kate backstage at Sadlers Wells with Lindsay and David Tomlinson (Mary Poppins and Bedknobs fame) 1985.
Kate in front and me behind both in white shirts, I hardly ever wore my hair down when I was working . Lindsay's Onnagata talk at Sadlers Wells 1991.
The talk, Kate came to with Linds.... you can see her come in and Lindsay telling her to sit with me.
Song Lyrics to waking the witch by Kate Bush .....
Wake up
Good morning, ma'am
Your early morning call
You must wake up
Wake up
Wake up, man
Wake up, child
Pay attention
Come on, wake up
Wake up, love
We should make the night
But see your little lights alive
Stop that lying (ma needs a shower, get out of bed)
And sleeping in bed, get up
Little light
Can you not see that little light up there?
Where?
There
Where?
Over here
You still in bed?
Wake up, sleepy head
We are of the going water and the gone
We are of water in the Holy Land of water
Don't you know you've kept him waiting
Look who's here to see you
You won't burn (red, red roses)
You won't bleed (pinks and posies)
Confess to me, girl (red, red roses, go down)
Spiritus Sanctus in nomine
Spiritus Sanctus in nomine
Spiritus Sanctus in nomine
Spiritus Sanctus in nomine
Poor little thing (red, red roses)
The blackbird (pinks and posies)
Wings in the water (red, red roses)
Go down (go down, pinks and posies)
Deus et dei domino inferno
Deus et dei domino inferno
Deus et dei domino inferno
Deus et dei domino inferno
What is it, child?
Bless me, father, bless me father, for I have sinned
Help me, listen to me, listen to me, tell me (red, red roses)
Help me, baby, don't go (red, red ro-)
I question your innocence
She's a witch (help this blackbird, there's a stone around my leg)
Ha, damn you, woman
(Help this blackbird, there's a stone around my leg)
What say you, good people (guilty, guilty, guilty)
Well, are you responsible for your actions? (This blackbird)
Not guilty (help this blackbird)
Wake up the witch
Get out of the waves
Get out of the water

Out now! Welcome To The Arts: Dance. The largest project i've ever worked on, 45 illustrations including the cover. I illustrated dance from around the world including: Hip-Hop, Flamenco, Ballet, Contemporary, Ballroom, Kpanlogo, Kabuki, Salsa, Tap, and more. Also included are dance legends like Antonio Gades, Sir Matthew Bourne, Pina Bausch, Akram Khan, Rudolf, Nureyev, Martha Graham, The Nicholas Brothers, and more. Just researching for this book was a massive effort, on top of composing and executing the art. This book launches Big Picture Press' new Welcome To The Arts series. Written and curated by Sadler's Wells' artistic director Sir Alistair Spalding. Yes it was written by a knight! Big thanks to Oliva, Winsome, Joanna, Alistair, and my wife Jen and dog Dubu who saw very little of me for months as I toiled away on this book. I hope ya'll like it and get inspired to go out there and watch performances, research, and ultimately get your dance on!

Mike Mike Mike, this desert goblin must not be left out!!
Right?!??! We wouldn't be anywhere without him!
Competence never looked so sexy. I don't even know what more to add. Within seconds of first seeing this guy tinkering with his jeep, he's appraised the fuckuppery, given Jock a snarky reply and a 'riiight okay' look dripping with Judgement for turning down water, shown off mad driving skills, and been so sexily RIGHT as well as flippantly cool about it. He just... pulls off an astonishing stunt, then calmly lights a ciggie. Wow. Is 'desert suave' a thing? This guy looks disarmingly soft and fluffy but he is the absolute pinnacle of competence and cool.
Looks: 15/10
Competence: off the charts/10
Derangement: 10/10
Fluffiness: 100/10
Driving skills: 666/10
Other: +82 for how sexy swearing is in that accent of his
Total: competence you can ride all day long/10
There are two types of people in this universe: those who want Mike Sadler, and those who want to be Mike Sadler. Absolutely no one is immune to this man. He's here now. Everything is going to be okay.

Disabled people’s own accounts, as well as reports of employers, prove that Deaf and disabled people were an intrinsic part of the textile workforce. In addition, evidence collected as part of investigations on behalf of the Government into conditions in textile mills show high levels of industrial injuries amongst workers. Accidents from machinery, constant loud noise and the effects of working in unventilated premises led to large numbers of workers becoming disabled as a consequence of work. Some people’s injuries meant that they were no longer able to work, and many did unfortunately end up in the workhouse. However, many other disabled people stayed in work – through sheer necessity, to meet the demands of the industry, or simply because they were able to.
My research puts disabled people at the centre of the history of industrialisation, rather than pushing them to the margins. It challenges some widely-held stereotypes of disabled people and shows that they were (and continue to be) part of the world of work. Not dependent, not tragic, not inspirational – but reliable colleagues, friends and family members. Disabled people were involved in Britain’s leading industry during the nineteenth century: textile production. They also played their part in improving working conditions in the textile factories at the height of industrialisation. For instance, the 1832 parliamentary committee to investigate factory conditions, chaired by Leeds Member of Parliament Michael Sadler, followed by the Government’s Factories Inquiry Commission of 1833, finally gave disabled workers the chance to speak up. Giving evidence meant that they were not merely victims of industrialisation, but that they were contributing to the movement for reform and the struggle for better working conditions. The resulting reports ultimately led to legislation which reduced working hours, set up factory inspections and made further improvements to the workplace.
[...]
Because of the noise, weavers in the textile factories gradually became expert lip readers. This was a necessity rather than a choice – the weaving sheds were such noisy places that a combination of lip-reading and hand-signing was the only way to communicate. Lip-reading was more than just a practical form of communication for the weavers – it was a badge of honour. It showed that you were used to manual work, no matter that you were now deaf, and set you apart from the mills’ office workers and management.

When I was at Artschool in the early 80s, I was a big David Bowie fan (had been since 1975 at age of 12) and went along to some Bowie convention in Hammersmith, London. Where I watched an interview with Lindsay Kemp. He was the mentor to DB and taught him mime and opened his eyes to Kabuki and Jean Genet.... like Lindsay did to many of us. This made me picked up a leaflet to see The Lindsay Kemp Company shows at Sadlers Wells a week later and my career path changed.... a Theatrical life for me.
My artwork at artschool changed over night. It took another 6 years to get where I wanted to be... part of The Kemp Company. I saw all the shows that came to the UK in that 6 years, often going everynight on standby tickets. When I joined the Kemp Co officially, and was designing and making his solo show Onnagata.
This is where he taught me that every part of the performance, if paused and in a freeze...should look like a photograph or painting... these days it would be a screenshot.
I get exactly that feeling while watching Good Omens, the visual feast of both seasons , anytime I pause.... it is , a spectacular image to savour an old master or an incredible photo. Now I realise why I watch it time and time again. I want to Thank @neil-gaiman for bringing this visual wonder to the screen. As a visual person , I adore the staging of each shot.... the lighting, the angles... (love the aerial shots). The details of everything from set, costume to visual effects and the work of such a talented team. We never had the funds in the Kemp Co..... we were good at making do from scraps, begging, stealing and borrowing. I would of adored to work on something like Good Omens, but I was a Theatre person and didn't go near Film and TV. In fact I turned down an opportunity to work with Derek Jarman, as I would have to leave Lindsay's company to do so. No regrets. I followed my dreams.
I will look forward to Season 3 with great anticipation. But in no hurry for it to happen as once we have 3.... that's it!! In a way I don't want it to end....
We lost Lindsay Kemp in 2018 at the age of 80.... so there will never be more of his shows.
So take your time with Good Omens 3, I need to have something to look forward to.
These 2 actors are spectacular performers, and I adore the way they have created such marvellous characters. Thank you , David Tennant and Michael Sheen... you bring joy to my life.....
