the biggest problem with tos’ episodic format is that the episode usually ends pretty quickly after the conflict resolves and then they never really talk about it again - no matter how intense or harrowing it was

which means that we don’t get to actually *see* the interpersonal fallout of bones being diagnosed with and cured from a previously-incurable terminal illness (that he didn’t even want to tell jim and spock he had), and then just four episodes later drugging them so that he can go be tortured (and likely die) instead of spock, and so jim doesn’t have to make the choice between them.

did they talk about it? beyond just a standard debrief and a “never fucking do that again bones i swear to god i mean it this time”? did they make it the captains’ quarters for the debrief, only for mccoy to be pulled into a crushing, trembling hug as soon as the door shut while jim tried to assure himself that bones was still here, was still breathing? spock hovering nearby - a hand gently coming to rest on his shoulder?

why didn’t mccoy want to tell them about the xenopolycythemia, anyways? to try and hold onto a few more normal-ish months before every time they looked at him their eyes would be filled with grief - mourning a man they hadn’t yet lost? the same reason he ran away; to spare them what he went through with his father?

only for him to immediately turn around and throw himself back to the wolves to (almost) die right in front of them anyways

i don’t really know how they handled it. whether they talked about it and attempted to soothe the hurt, or just resolutely tried to bottle it up.

but i do know this: spock eventually came back from gol because jim simply (though accidentally) called out for him in a moment of need. bones only came back because jim personally drafted him back into starfleet

#ariart #isat #isat spoilers #the creechur... btw the stuff written on their back veil are lyrics (chaos version) to fleeting words and beautiful song #they have a mouth. but itd be best for em not to use that. i like to think that the Universe communicates via telepathy #cuz if they use their own mouth itd be like an absolute order that cant be broken (like how wishes are granted via wish craft) #the rest of their body is meant like-- a tree trunk. cuz world tree and all that! also favour tree! #hollow stomach with a single floating star aaannd the lower part of the back veil is meant to be a butterfly when whole #yes those are two faces as well. drawing the lines for that nearly made me lose my mind a lil. the angle was painful... #it aint as obvious but the stars (egg and rectangle specifically) dangling on the front veil is morse code for i love you #also in a way the reason why i decided to make their middle pair of hands in that form is that inside their palm is the country #north of vaugarde. so its like theyre holding the country protectively. a star formed to keep anyone from lookin in!

Apart from walking and hitching a ride on a friend, any other ways elffein goes from place to place? I can almost imagine them using a hook and string to get around almost like hornet (hollow knight)

Your pretty much right on the nose!!

Walking is the easiest way of getting around, though it is also the slowest. Despite Siffrin still being super speedy and fast and stuff, they’re only speedy and fast in comparison to other elves

Siffrin would swing around using their needle pin and a thread spool (Spiderman style) in order to get around a lot faster. It makes travel a lot more convenient, as well as gives him more of an advantage when in combate with larger foes.

The way I imagine them getting around is definitely very similar to Hornet!! I imagine Siffrin moving around all super nimble and fast the way she does, at least when fighting and stuff.

They are still the fastest in the party when getting around, but only due to having lots of experience in maneuvering with their needle and thread.
