sorry but i'm gonna be real for a second here

"i wish i lived in the 18th century/the past/ when jane austen was alive" is a stupid sentiment because there was literally so much bad shit in the past (racism, misogyny, sexism, more poverty, homophobia, etc.), and even not considering those extremities they had disadvantages like less medicine, less transport, less hygiene, slower communication, etc etc.

"oh but i don't mean any of the bad stuff, i just want to live in a cottage and wear fancy dress" ???? nobody is stopping you. just because more of our world is being modernised doesn't mean that all of it is. go to the countryside. i promise you there will be a cozy cottage for you to live in. there are fancy gowns for you to buy. you can write with a typewriter and send letters to your lover. nobody is stopping you.

"oh but it should be normalised. i wish more people did it!" why does it matter? if other people feel more comfortable texting (which is, in their defense, much faster) instead of sending a traditional letter then that's their business.

"art and poetry is dying" says the person who's only complaining about it and not actually doing anything to save it (not that it needs to be saved. there is art everywhere, even in science and maths. if you dare to say that art is fading then you're simply not looking hard enough. open your mind, go outside, travel the world. quick note: modern art is still art).

i completely understand the longing for a different and better life, but bro (and i am looking you in the eye and clasping your hands as i say this) the escapism you want is not found in the past. stop dwelling. look forward. wishing to be born in another life is a coward and a lazy person's desire. wishing to make this current life better is an artist's.

How did your first kiss go? What’s one of the more cherished and calm moments that you look upon fondly with Sanemi?

Ahhhh Vix!😭

I always imagine our first kiss happening drunk. As in I am completely shitfaced, and poor Sanemi is taking me home— acting like he’s annoyed that I’m so wreckless, when really he’s just glad to spend more time with me. And that’s the same excuse he’ll give for following me out to the local izakya, saying that he doesn’t trust me out drinking with Mitsuri, and Obanai definitely won’t be able to carry us both home (he definitely could tho!!)

Plus, being drunk is the only time I’d have enough courage to even attempt to kiss him. No matter how much flirty banter there is between us sober, neither of us would ever make that move. Me, because I think it’s only banter, and him because he thinks he can’t get into a relationship. He can’t care for someone— and that’s why he constantly pushes me away. But he lets himself lean into the kiss, and he doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing but he tries.🥺

That’s why the next morning, after the kiss, he pretends like nothing happened. And I do the same for the most part… Until I realise he’s avoiding me more than usual, and deliberately not talking to me. And it makes me feel like shit because I think he hated it or that I fucked ho our friendship. So I confront him one evening, and he says the real reason he avoided me is he thinks I only did it because I was drunk, and that I didn’t actually want to kiss him. Because why would I want to kiss someone like him?🥺

So obviously I tell him he’s a fucking idiot, and feelings come out and then we kiss again— properly this time😭 and I will always claim this is our first kiss, but Sanemi claims it’s the drunken one because he finds it hilarious that he had to hold back my hair from vomming immediately after (I’m such an embarrassing drunk don’t look at me)

And fave fave moments are just the two of us together. Cuddling while I read and he naps (because he doesn’t sleep enough and being around me relaxes him enough to actually do so!), but also he tries (and fails) to teach me to cook. But also matching outfits when we go out to local festivals or to see fireworks each year when they’re on🥺

life's been okay. i've just got a really big project due in two weeks that's been absolutely kicking my ass. like every time i open it, i just die a little bit...so that's been fun :) it's so stupid too because the project doesn't even count for a grade. it's a community service thing which is nice, but the amount of pressure you get while working on it is isane. they expect it to be this big, impactful action and i just can't do that right now. but on the other hand i've only got ten more weeks of school left. so the world is not all that bad.how are you, friend? i hope you're doing okay too.

I've finally got to this! Apologies!

Since I have BG3 on the brain, and I know you are quite the dragonborn Tav enthusiast, I'm going to answer them with my dragonborn OC Vixerion:

This grump here.

Vix's favourite memory was seeing a palace garden for the first time. He didn't come from a place that had gardens beyond vegetables, so when he left to pursue knighthood and was in the presence of bonafide royals and their properties, it was an entirely different world for him. Though he grew tired quickly of pomp and circumstance, what he never grew tired of were the acres and acres of walled shrubbery and flowers, plants and trees, all carefully cultivated and in harmony with one another. It was like...a fishbowl of an entirely new universe, which solidified to him that he was in a completely different world than the one he knew, and would need to start compensating to adjust. You'd often find him hidden deep in one of the labyrinths to read after his training was done, carefully avoiding crushing flower beds, and he became fast friends with the gardeners.

If he was left with a pouch full of gold...well, Vix is a goodie goodie noble person with a capital G. Almost to the point where it's can grate on people who don't know him. And while his moral compass has been a bit busted over the years and occasionally does not point north anymore, he still values his code of ethics and has a knightly sort of martyrdom about him.

As such, he would likely waste a good chunk of his time trying to figure out who this pouch belonged to, because it most certainly was not his - he never carries that much gold on him at once unless he were planning to use it all at once, so he'd likely be sent into a slightly frustrated panic asking around (and whether he believes most people's answers about it is debatable, but he'll do his best to play detective until he inevitably gives up). It wouldn't be too bad, though. Vix doesn't exactly know how to relax with no obligations - he always feels like he needs to be doing something useful or productive, and sitting on his hands makes his teeth itch.

If the gold pouch does happen to be his, or it was fairly given to him, he'll likely do the morality math - what that means is that he'll keep maybe a few of the coins himself - just enough to buy himself a meal (he doesn't like taverns or restaurants because the chairs are usually too small for him to sit comfortably in, but he'll gladly order and take it outside) and maybe a shiny bauble that catches his eye (being bored and having money for himself for the first time is how he ended up with his snout pierced; his impulse control has gotten much better over the decades, but the man loves a well inlaid opal or a nice handkerchief - and hey the hoop is still there, so he does maintain all of his decisions whether they were good ones or not). The rest will be dropped into any open cup or palm he can find, or he'll buy meals for his surrounding patrons, whatever he can think of to get the gold out of his pockets and somewhere else that it's needed.

I feel like we’re both movie buffs and some of our favourite things to do on our days off is to relax and binge shows/movies or go to the cinema. He definitely wants to see Oppenheimer over Barbie and makes an absolute scene about the fact that he’s not taking me to see it, but at the last moment he tells me that we’re going🥺

And I feel like we love a lot of the same movies, although he ends up having to explain some to me because I get SO confused when there’s plot twists and shit. And he talks through them sometimes, especially when we watch horror movies because they’re my fave and he hates them. So I’m always telling him to just watch it but he’s like “Its so obvious they’re gonna go through that door and get stabbed though, fucking shit.”

But he pays for a Shudder subscription so we can both watch all the latest horror movies that come out on our days off🥺 and he actually has emails on for the company so he knows when new things are gonna get added so he can tell me🥲

And he’s so cute he’ll buy my favourite snacks, cake, wine on his way home from work for me so we can have a chill evening watching together💕
