The moment you opened the door of Jake’s first love you thought you’d died and gone to heaven. Two dogs, Border Collies, were right there happy and eager to greet you. They were a little bit dirty and a whole lot of adorable. You immediately got out of the truck and dropped into a squat. The dogs attacked you with licks and nuzzles. There were barks and tail wags a plenty.
“Ike! Strait!” Jake called out, every inch the commanding officer the Navy made him. It almost had you wanting to stand at attention. “Come on bozos, give ‘er some room!” And as though the dogs understood Jake word for word, they backed off. You instantly popped up from your crouch, dusting the pawprints off your pants. You looked back at Jake, who was letting down the tailgate, smiling at him.
You walked over to him to help get the luggage out of the truck bed. You turned to place the last bit of luggage on the ground, when Jake grabbed you around the waist, picked you up, and placed you on the tailgate. The smirk on his face was playful and then before you could say anything, his mouth was on yours. There was the faint taste of artificial peach still lingering on his tongue. “I’m so glad you came with me, babe.” He whispered before kissing you again. The warm pads of his fingers startled you as his hand slipped under your shirt.
“My baby boy!” Had you both springing apart. You looked to the right and saw an older woman, whose graying, blonde hair hung over her shoulder in a loose braid. As she smiled you knew that it was not Dr. Hernandez who was responsible for Jake’s bright, large smile, but Mrs. Vicki Seresin. It was easy to see a few of the features he’d inherited from his mother.
“Momma!” Jake gently pulled you off the tailgate and rushed to his mother, enveloping her in a large hug. Mrs. Seresin seemed to be hugging her youngest child just as tightly. You could hear him say something to her, but his words were muffled by her hair. Just as you were starting to feel awkward, watching them, Jake pulled away and moved closer to you. He held his hand out, motioning you forward. For a second you considered running away. The nerves that you tried all day to ignore were making you slightly nauseous. Running away was not going to do you any good though, especially when you were so far from anything…especially when you loved Jake so much.
When you walked closer, he placed both hands on your shoulders and squeezed gently. You could feel both of his thumbs swipe over your skin. You instantly knew it was meant to be a calming act and it was even further cemented when he brushed his lips over your temple. Jake knew you so well and it gave you the encouragement you needed to face his mother.
“This is the love of my life!” Jake introduced you to the woman that birthed him. You looked back at him, over your shoulder.
“Not even an hour ago you called your truck the love of your life!”
“Jacob!” Mrs. Seresin cried out. “What is your obsession with that truck?” Clearly, he’d had this obsession for a long time.
“I said that it was my first love!” He corrected you, a smirk on his lips and a twinkle in his eyes. “First loves don’t hold a candle to the love of my life.” Maybe if the Navy stopped being a viable option one day, he could write country songs for a living. Both you and his mother laughed. You turned your attention to her fully.
“It’s nice to meet you Mrs. Seresin.”  The older woman smiled, her eyes crinkling at the corners.
“Please! No one calls me that! You can call me Vicki or Mom or Momma. Hell, you can even call me Nana like the kids do if you want!” Her laugh was full and filled the open air around you. It was lively and drew you in. “Now, we are huggers in this family!” You braced yourself as she wrapped her arms around you. She smelt like clean laundry and earth and lemons. It was refreshing and comforting and you instantly melted into the hug. When she pulled back, she kept her hands on your elbows. “Now why don’t y’all grab your stuff and come on in?” She looked at Jake. “I know Jules will be excited to see you.” Jake had been right about his sister being here.
While Vicki helped Jake with one of the suitcases, you went back to the cab of the truck to grab your backpack. Once you had it, you grabbed your other carryon and walked up the steps to the home Jake grew up in. He was patiently waiting for you by the open door. His demeanor was calm and casual. He looked completely at ease. It was a true homecoming for him and you knew by the look on his face that even though he loved the Navy and loved flying, there would never be a place like Hidden Oak Ranch to him.
As you entered the house you were caught off guard by just how homey it was. Jake was an extremely neat and tidy person. Before you were seriously dating, his house was as bland as a hospital waiting room. It’s not like he lacked furniture or that it was mismatched like a college frat house. No, he had extremely good taste, but just lacked personal touches. You helped him in that department with fuzzy blankets and pillows galore. You got pictures of his plane and squadrons from over the years printed out and hung on one of the walls. He preferred to keep his home plain and simple.
His parents' home stood in stark contrast. Once you walked in the house you took note of the two rooms to your left and right. On your right was a small sitting room with tall wooden bookshelves, an upright piano, and a few guitars. The bookshelves were full and the walls covered in hanging knick-knacks. To your left was a large living room with furniture to scale. A long sectional and two matching recliners framed an oversized brick fireplace. There was a dark wooden mantle over the fireplace that matched the beams that crossed the slightly vaulted ceiling. Garland, with baubles and trinkets of red, green, and gold, adorned the shelf along with so many picture frames. A tall Christmas tree stood in the corner, by a large window that overlooked their land. The tree was lit with warm white lights and looked to be decorated with glass, plastic, and homemade ornaments that had been collected over the years. There were several other decorations around the room that made you feel like you’d been transported to some rom-com movie on cable television.
You turned back towards Jake, a tightness growing in your chest that you ignored. There was no time to linger on worries. He was bouncing on his toes as he watched you. “I’ll show you around after we get settled.” The man led you towards the stairs, but before you started climbing you were interrupted.
“Jakey!” A squeal came from the room with the instruments. A woman about your height with a baby strapped to her chest in a billowing sling, came walking towards Jake. The baby at her chest seemed to sleep through her mothers excitement as though this was an everyday occurrence.
“Julie!” He swept her up in a hug, lifting her feet off the ground. You worried about baby Lily, but seemed to be the only one. “Motherhood suits ya’, sis.” Julie rolled her eyes and playfully punched her younger brother.
“You’ve always been full of shit Jake.” Before saying anything to you, she wrapped you in a hug tighter than even a boa constrictor could give. She paid no mind to the backpack you still had on. You were able to get an up close and personal look at Lily as Julie hugged you. The strawberry colored fuzz on her head made you smile. “It is so nice to finally meet you!” The way she greeted you and even the way she called you by your name made you feel as though you’d always known her.
“It’s nice to meet you too Julie.”
“Let me see my newest niece!” Jake was holding his hand out, making grabbing motions as though he were a toddler reaching for its bear. You said this thought out loud which got a pout out of him, but a snort out of his sister. Lily was handed over to her uncle and as Jake held her to his chest the tiny girl snuggled closer to warmth. You could see on his face how much this man adored his role as uncle. He was always talking about his siblings' children so you knew he loved them, but you’d not witnessed this. This trip was bringing all new sides of him to light and you weren’t mad about it.
“How was the flight?” The baby’s mother asked.
“It was fine.” You answered, certain Jake was not paying attention. “Landing could have been a bit better, but-”
“That landing was worse than a calf trying to walk for the first time.” You’d never seen a calf try to walk after birth, but Julie seemed to understand what Jake was getting at. “It shouldn’t be that difficult. It’s not like he was landing on a moving aircraft carrier in the middle of the ocean. That right there is difficult.”
“What?!” You exclaimed sarcastically. “The great Hangman admitting that something is difficult?” Jake playfully rolled his eyes while Julie laughed.
“I like you! You’ll fit in well here.” In some ways that was a relief to hear and in others it caused a weight to settle itself across your shoulders. “Here, give her back so you guys can go put your things away. Maybe even rest.” Jake was hesitant to hand Lily back to her mother. “Oh come on. You can hold her for as long as you want tomorrow at family dinner.” This was news to you. Julie took hold of Lily, tucking her back in the sling she was still wearing. They exchanged see you later’s and then Julie walked about of the room.
Jake tucked his arm around you, placing his hand on your waist, and turning you back towards the stairs where your belongings were. After picking up his backpack and two of the other bags he started to make his way up the stairs. You grab your bag, the only one left, and followed. The stairs partially overlooked the living room. Garland was wrapped around the handle. It matched that which was on the fireplace mantle. Jake looked over your shoulder to make sure you were behind him, then finished his climb to the second floor, taking a left once he reached the top.
He entered a room, his room, though it had clearly moved on from his high school days. On the hardwood floors sat a round rug and on top of that was a wood, antique bed. Each of the four posts came up to about your hip and each one was topped with a wooden knob. A gray comforter and a patterned quilt lay on the mattress. The walls had white paneling halfway up, and then the plaster above was painted a navy color. A rocking chair sat in the corner with a crocheted blanket hanging off the back and a large dresser next to it, a mirror attached. There were pictures on top of the dresser and a set of Christmas village houses.
“Man, I was looking forward to seeing all your posters of half naked women,” You joked as you placed your backpack in the rocker. You could hear Jake snicker behind you. You walked towards the closet. “Maybe you have an old diary hidden in here that I can read through!” You opened the closet door, but the only things in there were heavy winter coats hanging up, and wrapping paper for different occasions.
“Sorry to disappoint, darlin’.” Jake's voice came from right behind you. He placed his hands on your waist and pulled you flush against the front of his body. The man nuzzled your neck, brushing his nose across your skin. Each time his lips touched the spot under your ear, your body grew warmer and warmer. “You just wanted to read my lurid teenage fantasies.” He turned you around, holding you tight in his arms. You could feel his fingers grab the hem of your shirt. “Guess we’ll just have to make some of our own.” You laughed as he pulled the shirt over your head, throwing it across the room.
“Jacob!”
“What?!” He responded in the same tone.
“Your mother and sister and niece are downstairs!” Jake’s lips were now on your shoulder and you were having trouble focusing.
“We’ll need to be extra quiet then, won’t we?”

Below the cut is a description of the night, the party, and basically how it all played out. There are spoilers, as well as a link to the full solution/scenario I used for the inspo of Haven's party, so please read with caution. (There will be a note at the beginning of the paragraph that starts to reveal the answers.)
Note: The characters tagged in this post were not the only people invited to the party. These are just simply the characters of the people that reacted to my post on the discord, which is what I based this summary off of. If you are not someone tagged below and you wanted your character to be there, we'll say they were one of the non-role-playing detectives as listed on the instruction sheet that I used.
Tumblr media
In true Haven fashion, the guests arrived at Haven’s house close to 6PM - with the exception of the few that came early to help set up - and where probably not surprised to see the decorations that filled her house. Sure, she could blame the fact that she had an eleven year old at home who was just as obsessed with spooky things as his mother, but, in all honesty most of this was for her party guests. Decorations filled the kitchen and living room mostly, but she’d tried hard not to take away from the snacks and drinks - especially the margarita bar she had placed strategically in the kitchen. It was a lot of work,  but Haven enjoyed this type of thing.
[This is where I start talking about the party so if you don’t want things spoiled for you, please don’t read ahead.]
ROUND ONE
As the guests began to arrive and Haven had given them the opportunity to enjoy some treats, she handed out name tags to each guest - all which were selected at random - and instructed they’d be on teams seeing as how there were only 6 suspects and more than that attending her party. Along with the name tags, guests were handed character dossier’s - which they were instructed to remain closed until further told to read -  as well as some business cards with the character’s description on them. The groups went as followed:
Penelope Ruiz, Orion Blakely, and Ann-Marie Siegert were working together as Dr. Chelsea Barren; the neighbor. @nelxruiz @orionxblakely @ann-marieseigert
Genevieve Hernandez, Stevie Wagner and Apollo Williams were working together as Kathryn Lawless; the friend. @genhernandez @steviexwagner @counselorapollo
Summer Cassidy, River Jackson, and Ali Webster were working together as Enrique Graves; The Farmhand. @summercassidy @riverxjackson @alitwebster
Beyza Senkan and Aindreis Blythe were working together as Michael Nightshade; the land developer. @beyzaxsenkan @aindreisblythe
Julian Heywood, Brady Levitt, and Amerie Chen were working together as Norman D’Adly; the brother in law. @julianxheywood @ameriechen @bradylevitt
And the last group to be assembled was Amayah Fontenelle and Nora Sinclair who were working together as Vicki D’Adly; the sister. @amayahxfontenelle @norasinclair
Once all groups were formed, groups were instructed to flip to their character dossiers (pages 29, 36, 43, 50, 57 & 64) and read only the scenario and who you are sections aloud. You all took turns doing so, starting with Chelsea and ending with Vicki. It is revealed with Michael’s info that a map has been sketched out, and now everyone knows the general layout of the property. To complete Round One, Haven read the scenario aloud, before giving further instructions. “One year ago, Robert Killingsworth bought the farm. Six months later, he was dead - leaving his widow Elizabeth to tend to their fledgling vineyard and winery on the outskirts of California’s wine country. With mounting debts and no idea how to run a  business, Elizabeth is desperate to sell the farm and recoup her losses. The fierce drought and shaky economy, however, have left Killingsworth Farm on the market for far too long. One early autumn day, six people passed through the gates of Killingsworth Farm to see Elizabeth.. One of them, a cold-blooded Killer.”
Round Two
Once the pages were turned, you all were instructed to read the section titled “The Scenario” aloud, in the same order as before. It is at this time that guests were allowed to begin questioning each other, and Haven suggested that you all take notes so that you could help yourselves figure out who committed the crime. It was revealed when Norman announced they had gone into the bedroom in search of Elizabeth, they found a shrine of Elizabeth’s late husband, and one article caught their attention, revealing the newspaper article that revealed the cash reward which rose the question: who would need enough money to find out the answer, or come forward? Some questions were asked, while everyone made notes and Enrique’s team was challenged by Chelsea’s team when it was revealed that she’d seen him there a lot but he wasn’t checking anything out. Enrique’s team revealed that they were getting Kathryn’s help with homework, and that’s why they were there so much recently.
Round Three
Haven instructed you all to turn the page and begin reading “The Scenario” aloud, just as before. Questions continue to arise after all things have been read. Michael’s team asked Enrique’s team who the woman was that joined him in the cellar, but it is later understood that it is Chelsea, and that the two were sleeping together. Though, that doesn’t stop Chelsea’s team from noticing that Enrique’s team helped the D’Adly’s with their luggage and noticed the boxes, causing Vicki to reveal that they are staying in their RV and sold their house because of Norman’s debts. It is not revealed that Enrique has a hand written note from Kathryn by a Samuel Friedmont.
Round Four
Now onto the fourth round of the game, Haven instructs that you follow the same instructions as before, and to really start to pay attention to what is being told because you are that much closer to finding the answer to the murder. It is revealed during this round that Chelsea saw Vicki head to the wine vault, Enrique was heading to the wine vault with Michael at 5:30PM, Kathryn found a note next to Elizabeth’s body, and Michael revealed he was drinking with Elizabeth when the lights went out in the wine vault. Finally, Norman overheard Michael call Kathryn ‘Aunt Kathryn’ and saw them together in the car, which had Norman’s team questioning it, where he revealed that Kathryn told him to hold onto sleeping pills, and revealed that if Elizabeth wouldn’t sell him the farm, he was to use it. Vicki was caught guard a little when her conversation with Kathryn resulted in a sly grin, and Kathryn’s team had to reveal that she had quit her job at the library that day to pursue Hollywood.
Round Five
With the guests in full sleuth mode, things keep progressing quickly. It is revealed in this round that Chelsea’s team had showed the paper that Enrique lost to Elizabeth. Enrique’s team revealed that the day that Robert was killed, Chelsea had had lunch with him and begged him to see her the next day; Robert used the term ‘over my dead body’ would she be allowed on his property again. Kathryn notices that one of the candlesticks in Elizabeth’s study is identical to one that Enrique gifted her months ago. Michael revealed that the handwriting on the bottom of the Samuel Friedmont note from the library is the same as the handwriting on Elizabeth’s suicide note. Norman reveals that he heard Elizabeth and Dr. Chelsea arguing earlier in the day about Robert’s killer, but Elizabeth wanted no part of it, and lastly, Vicki reveals that she saw the empty bottle of sleeping pills next to a corkscrew with the engraving To Elizabeth, I will always love you. Cheers to a new life together.” Questions begin flying as the teams began to figure out who did it, as more and more things are revealed. Once ready, the group opened up to pages 34-69 of their character dossier’s to reveal the answer to the murder.
Round Six (The Conclusion)
The code words were assigned to each group and one person from each group read allowed the confession statements in order: Kathryn (Mystery), Michael (Mayhem), Chelsea (Murder), Enrique (Malice), Vicki (Mastermind), Norman (Madness).
Kathryn started off by stating that she was innocent, and that only people that had been in the Rose Garden that afternoon could have access to the murder weapon (a corkscrew which was gifted to Elizabeth by Norman.
Michael confessed that he was in the Rose Garden, but that he did not pick up the corkscrew, and that his mind was elsewhere because his aunt Kathryn wasn’t the best friend to Elizabeth that she made everyone believe. He stated that Kathryn was trying to inherit the farm through Elizabeth’s death, and that he was no part of the picture anymore; though he did try to kill her, but someone else got to her first.
Chelsea revealed that she’d been sleeping with Enrique for inside information on Robert’s killer as the two of them (Chelsea and Robert) were having an affair. She struck gold to who really killed Robert - she thought it had been Elizabeth for the life insurance all along - but Elizabeth was having no part of figuring out who it was.
Enrique revealed that he was the one that killed Robert with a candlestick blow to the head when he tried to have Enrique arrested after his past with drugs came back to surface. He was unconscious at the time of Elizabeth’s death and said ‘his word’ says he wasn’t the one that killed her. The group didn’t hesitate to give him side eyes though (they still aren’t convinced that he’s telling the truth)
Vicki revealed that she had the motive to kill her sister as she was trying to get money to move to Hollywood, and she was tired of being married; she also mentioned that her husband Norman wanted to be part of Elizabeth’s life again. She says she didn’t do it though, that she realized it would be easier to divorce Norman first, and that she’s certain Chelsea was spying on her and can vouch that she is innocent.
Norman revealed that he saw Enrique and Vicki kissing from the Rose Garden and was so enraged he acted on it; so he flipped on the electricity, shocking Enrique and causing the lights to go out. Because of this, when he picked up the corkscrew moments prior, he used it as the murder weapon, only to realize when everyone was gathered in the Farmhouse that his eyes had deceived him, and that when he thought he had killed his wife in rage, he’d actually killed Elizabeth, his wife’s sister and the only woman he’s ever loved. I guess practically marrying wife’s twin doesn’t pay off after all, does it Norman?
With the reveal, which had been mentioned as the potential outcome by Enrique’s team, the party ended with drinks, snacks and talking. It was overall a great night, and Haven’s already talking about how she can host an even better party next year.
Teams, who ‘figured out the answer’ and anything that required a selection was done so via random wheel. I did not personally select anything myself.

On a quest to clean up his hometown, and often roping his frustrated family into his adventures, Koala Man stands at the ready. DOROTEA HERNANDEZ is based on TOOTIE from Fairly Odd Parents. She is a 21 year old HUMAN, THEATRE STUDENT, and uses she/her pronouns. She has NO POWERS.
Important History
where to start with tootie? maybe with the fact that she chooses to be called a weird nickname instead of her actual name because it feels like something that is so inherently hers
there wasn't much in her life growing up that felt like it hadn't been tainted in some way by vicky or fully destroyed simply because her older sister didn't want her to have it. but that was fine. there were ways she found to cope with her home life being less than stellar
evermore wasn't exactly the kind of place that made sense for someone like tootie - it was much too small for her much too large personality
not that she thought there was anything wrong with herself, on the contrary she was convinced that she was the best thing after sliced bread ( and whichever celebrity she had decided to dedicate herself to that month )
dramatic doesn't even begin to cover tootie hernandez. drama and passion are the blood that runs through her veins and it's no surprise that she feels everything so much, that she can be over the top and obsessive but if you don't have things that make you want to get out of bed in the morning, what's the point??
there are some people who claim that she needs to calm down, not to come on so strongly, but tootie never listened to such horrible advice. in her mind, they were just scared that she was so upfront with her intentions and her drive to get what she wanted but that was their problem, not hers!
family has always been a sore spot for her - her parents were less than absent and her sister was a nightmare. spending time away from home has been so engrained in her that she's often out until the wee hours of the morning to avoid seeing them at all
tootie fully believes she was meant for more in this world - either with an epic love or her face on the silver screen. she is in fact the main character!!
one day, someone will realize that tootie being in love with them is a gift and they will respond to her intensity at an equal level....one day
sometimes obsession comes in handy when it comes to uncovering information. could she be a private detective? sure but the only people she cares about digging into are the ones on posters covering her walls
falls in love a little too easily and sometimes ( most of the time ) that love is very much verging on mania but to be fair, it can only last a night. she's fickle with most of her love affairs.
real love is reserved for only a select few people who might not reciprocate it but she doesn't mind spending her time with people she knows she might not call again
the theatre is practically her second home. life in the hernandez household has never been that great and the community theatre has always been a place of comfort and safety for her, a place where people understood her and didn't judge her
has never set her mind on something that she hasn't been able to accomplish ( besides the whole timmy thing ). she has a scary sense of determination and once she's decided she wants to do something, there isn't much out there that can stop her

one.
those around viktor have always whispered that he was destined for greatness. he was an ambitious child, one who sprawled and reached for high places– fearless and determined. he does not remember the move with his mother to bulgaria, nor does he remember his birth father: by nearly every definition, varna was his home. his talent on a broom seemed to be innate, others his age struggled with the spell-work to even have it raise from the ground while he was soaring laps through the sky. his step-father adopted him at the age of eight, and in his honour he changed his name to fit the harsh syllables of his bulgarian tongue.
two.
he attended the durmstrang institute when he was old enough, a school that only accepted those of the very best caliber. a reputation for teaching dark arts swirled around the school during viktor’s attendance, but his focus was always quidditch– the breakneck speed of which he flew caught the attention of those beyond the school team, and at the age of eighteen: he was accepted into the bulgarian national quidditch team as their seeker. balancing school and a professional career and the instant skyrocket into fame was a herculean feat that did incredible damage to viktor’s humility and ego, but he did so with a wicked smile on his face. the years between durmstrang and aurelius have stretched longer than most, as frequent absences for international duty and quidditch have always come before his schooling.
three.
with two world cups tucked under his belt, viktor is now a fifth year cursebreaking student in the ravenclaw house. he’s bold and egotistical, with a penchant for cruelty that mirrors the vein in him that was born in durmstrang. despite the pleas of staff and students, he does not play quidditch often at aurelius, reserving his feats for when the whole world is watching– though if one turns their gaze to the pitch on a foggy morning, they might see bulgaria’s youngest seeker racing through the mist.
