We hope for a lot of things to happen in our future.

I hope to get into drum corps. I hope to be able to pay for drum corps. I hope to pass college. I hope that I’ll find a career that I really enjoy. I hope that I’ll be successful in that career. I hope that I’ll have enough money to live comfortably. I hope that I’ll live in a nice place. I hope that I’ll have good, real friends and be able to keep them. I hope that I’ll meet someone. 

I hope that I’ll be happy. 

Because I don’t think that’s what I am right now. At least, not in this moment, not at this time in my life. I feel joy during parts of the day. But there’s always this pressure that I feel. Whether to get good grades, to get a good job, to practice for auditions, or to look for people that I can call friends. None of the things I want in life, do I have right now. 

I wish I could just fast forward. I wish I could stop my story and begin again when things get better. But we have to go through the rough times so we can hopefully get to the good.
