Helloo again, I wanted to thank you for making my last request, i loved it <33 I don't know if it's still accepting requests, if not it's ok you can just ignore it ^^, but if so, I could make a hcs of wukong, macaque and nezha with your wife s/o dragon (again sorry kk i love dragons) pregnant? I imagine dragons are like rabbits and have lots of children, how would they react if your wife wanted more children after she had already given birth to her first child? having nsfw along, sorry if it's too much can just ignore ;w;
Sora!!!! I love these dragon requests so much oh my gosh I'm obsessed!!! (Also, thanks for adding Nezha, now I can finally brainrot about him hehehehehe~)
❀ Dragon Family ❀
: Dragon s/o wants more babies!! Give the big scary dragon her babies!!!!!
: Sun Wukong, Macaque, Nezha x fem!reader
: Fluff and a generous amount of Smut :))
Tumblr media
Sun Wukong
• would absolutely agree with you, a hundred percent
• he has so many monkey friends so he's used to taking care of multiple things
• and if it makes his wife happy??? It's already an immediate yes from him
• like, you didn't even have to try to convince him
• he's already planning the names of the babies as you speak
• excited to see more children run around the mountain
• suddenly, he's not so lonely anymore
• sobbing
Wukong carefully set you down on the bed, his lips catching yours in a heated kiss as you wrap your arms on his neck. He trails his hands on your waist and softly starts to grind against you.
You tugged on his hair making him groan and bite your lip as he lets go to stare into your eyes "My beautiful wife" he takes one of your hands and places a chaste kiss on your knuckles "My oh so precious wife"
You giggled at his affectionate behavior making him smile, he leaned in towards your ear biting against your skin, gently pulling it with his teeth making you shiver and moan out his name.
"I'm gonna pump you up with my children yeah? Gonna make you look so full of me, and only me~♡"
Six eared Macaque
• he's a little hesitant to agree with you
• he's not used to taking care of something so...fragile
• and yet you want more??
• that's what he tells himself, yet that look on your face as you ask him over and over again made him double take
• the sight of you kneeling down before him, your hands hugging his waist as you look up at him with those pretty eyes of yours
• heavens, save this poor man
• eventually, he agrees to your requests
• with a small price of all your time tonight~
"Ahn~ Macaque.." you whined as he pinned your hands over your head, his tongue licking your neck and biting your delicate skin against his fangs, a low chuckle was heard from him.
"What's wrong? Isn't this what you asked of me, Darling~?" His suave voice made your knees weak as he picked you up and placed you on the kitchen table, squeezing your thighs and capturing your lips in a sloppy, messy kiss.
He groans at your warmth and how willing you are to give all of your being to him, sends shivers down his spine as he pulls out and stares into your half lidded eyes. He smirked and slapped your thigh, erupting a moan from you
"Shh, quiet now. Our little baby is sleeping, we wouldn't want to wake them up from their precious nap now would we~"
Nezha
• AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
• sorry that's my bad
• anyways, he's similar to Macaque
• he has both the map of the samadhi fire and the jade emperor to protect, both of which isn't an easy job to do as it is
• but you're just so irresistible ♡
• and a huge tease
• surely, you would gladly take responsibility of the absolute mess you made him to be, no?
You started to grind you hips onto his lap, making cute little sounds right beside his ear as you felt him take a breath to try and calm himself down, he's just so adorable
He suddenly grabbed your waist in a tight hold making you gasp as he took the opportunity to shove his tongue inside your mouth in a sloppy wet kiss, you hummed his pleasure as you start to trail your hands onto his chest.
You tugged and pulled on his hair near his scalp making his breath hitch as he pulls away, a string of saliva connecting your mouths "You're playing a dangerous game, (Name)" he breathlessly whispered to you with a furrowed brow.
Yet you licked your lips and started you caress his thigh and leaned in closer to him "I know, I just want to know if you're strong enough to play with me~" you mocked a baby voice on him as he finally snapped, grabbing a fistfull of your hair and pulled your head facing upwards making you moan as he started biting onto your exposed neck.
"Lucky for you, I love a good challenge~"

Warmth
Just a little thing after the end of s3. Mei is having the Samadhi Fire taken out of her.
“Is everyone ready?”
Mei looked around herself.
Wukong, who'd asked the question, stood to her right, hands on his hips and tail swishing back and forth.
To her left was Nezha, arms folded, once again quiet and serious, having left behind the lightheartedness he'd shown at their little picnic last night.
Behind her, she knew, was DBK. Redson stood a little ways behind his father. She smiled at that. She knew she couldn't have gotten this far without him.
In front of her was Tang, looking like he was trying very hard to seem like he knew what he was doing.
She knew the others were nearby too, but she looked straight ahead. This wasn't going to be easy.
“No mistakes this time?” Nezha asked, a tinge of annoyance in his voice.
“No mistakes,” Wukong said, no usual teasing in his.
“Let's get on with it, then,” said DBK. The three of them raised up their arms. Tang unrolled the map, fingers nervously tapping its edge.
“Mei, whenever you're ready,” said Wukong.
Mei closed her eyes, taking in a deep breath and letting it out slowly.
Flame.
Fire.
Ignite.
She didn't open her eyes, but she could feel the warmth around her. Warmth she had learned to control, to contain. She was calm. She could do this. She remembered each one of Redson's lessons.
Be the flame.
She only vaguely felt her feet lift off the ground. She hardly noticed Tang beginning the ceremony.
Heat. Fire. Flame.
Be the flame.
Control.
Let it flow through you. Don't let it control you. Don't let it burst out. Don't fight it.
Calm.
Heat.
Fire. Flame.
The thoughts circled around in her head until they became all that she was, all that she had ever been and all that she ever could be. Deep, slow breaths made their way in and out of her mouth on their own.
Heat.
Fire.
Flame.
And just when it began to overtake her entirely--
Flash.
A scream was torn from her lungs as the fire erupted. The heat rushed away. It felt...cool. Like a cough drop in her mouth, like tiger balm on sore muscles. Like all the heat inside her had flowed out all at once.
She opened her eyes and looked up at the sun.
She let out a breath, floating in midair.
The world dropped around her as she began to fall.
She felt her body caught in arms. Warm arms, familiar arms. Safe arms.
She looked up into MK's relieved smile. Gave a tired one of her own.
And closed her eyes again, suddenly too exhausted to hold up her head.
It was done.
“You feeling okay Mei?”
She nodded sleepily, still a bit drowsy, but fighting to stay awake long enough to eat the dumplings Pigsy was bringing her. When the plate reached her lap, she gobbled them down despite her exhaustion, then leaned on MK's shoulder as the two of them sat side-by-side.
“How are you feeling, dragon girl?”
She looked up and smiled. “Hey Redboy.”
“Redson,” he corrected, though it no longer held its past anger. She thought he was beginning to like the nickname.
“I'm good,” she replied. “Just tired.”
“I'm not surprised,” said Redson, taking a seat on her other side. “Father said that I slept for an entire day when the fire was removed from me. You ought to rest.”
“Aww, you care about me,” she teased, though it came close to a mumble. Even through half-closed eyes she could see him blush.
“I-It's not like that!” he insisted. “I just...don't want you suffering any ill effects after all the work we put in training you.”
“You do care,” Mei said with a smile.
MK laughed softly. “Give it up, Redson. We're friends now, remember?”
“Yes, yes, whatever,” Redson said, though he couldn't hide a little smile of his own.
“Hey, that's new.” Keeping one arm around Mei to support her, MK reached over to tap a golden earring on Redson's ear. “That the ring?”
“Yes, that's it,” Redson replied. “Father thought that I should have his.”
“The others better--” Mei yawned in the middle of the sentence “--hide them real good this time.”
“You really ought to lie down, dragon girl,” said Redson.
“Mmhmm,” she replied, barely keeping her eyes open now. Redson moved closer to her and she snuggled between her friends as she fell asleep.
Even without the fire, she would always have this warmth.

Scorched chapter 3
3
He then lunges at Monkey King trying to take Mk from him.
Wukong evaded burning his hand into the ground and pulled out a staff made from a mixture of red stone and hard diamonds in a familiar golden color while a thin layer of flames danced on the staff’s ends. Wukong’s other hand was rather busy securing Mk to his chest with the coat acting as a makeshift sling.
Mei looked in worry. “Nezha… What's wrong with Monkey King?”
“Wukong has lost himself to his instincts though it seems Macaque has as well,” Nezha responds.
“We've got to get Mk out of there,” Mei says, concerned at her best friend's new form as he is stuck while the others fight.
“No, we can’t intervene in this. Not unless you want to get killed.” Nezha says.
“Why not!” Mei asked in frustration not liking her best friend stuck between two homicidal monkeys.
“Because they're lost in their instincts they won’t let anyone near Mk as he is the source of it,” Nezha explains.
Macaque lowers himself into the shadows in the ground as he moves under Wukong and grabs him by the ankles and makes him fall backward.
Wukong lets out a growl slamming the new staff into the ground while protecting Mk’s little body. He missed the fact Mk was now glowing a soft purple until the little cub popped into his own shadow making Wukong scream out of parental concern looking around for the cub chirping out a somewhat distressed call for the cub to reply to.
Mk could hear the Monkey King but it sounded muffled from the shadow realm. Part of him wants to listen to Monkey King and curl up in his embrace but something in the back of his head is telling him this isn’t right. But he doesn’t know why. His instincts caused his head to be full of cotton and screamed at him to go back to his caretaker. As Mk tries to get his head cleared Macaque comes up from behind him and grabs him. Mk ots out a chirp that screams.
PREDATOR.
SCARED.
HELP.
A purr comes from behind him.
Safe.
Calm.
Stay.
Mk’s body automatically goes limp. Mind completely lost in his instincts now unable to even render a thought. He clings to his protector in contentment. Macaque purrs louder in satisfaction as he travels away from the other with his cub. Leaving behind a very distressed Monkey King.
Said king was getting even more frantic, causing the flames to grow, becoming a wild mane of dark red ‘hair’ with gold flecks.
Nezha took a breath before looking over at the scholar. “You have the power of Tripitaka. I’m going to tell you about the sutra. I need you to keep chanting it until Wukong passes out.” Nezha directly told Tang while Mei was busy helping Pigsy and Sandy out of their ice chunk.
“M-m-me?!?” Tang coward while laughing nervously. “You think I can stop the great sage! Are you nuts!” Tang yells.
“We don't have time!” Nezha says seriously.
Tang gulps then nods “Alright what do I do?” Tang asked.
Nezha speaks in a language Tang seems to instinctively know. “That’s the sutra. Only you and the Goddess of Mercy can use it in conjunction with the Filet.”
Tang gulps then begins the sutra. Wukong let out a wretched screech and began clawing at his head as he thrashed around in pain. Tang felt guilty for hurting the sage but having no other option continued.
Tang continued until Wukong passed out cold evidenced by the mane of fire extinguishing and his magma-like skin slowly turning back to normal skin if a little hotter to the touch and covered in thick scars along his wrists, neck, and chest.
The group was silent. Only the wind could be heard whistling in their ears. Nobody dared speak a word as they stared at each other, horrified. Their minds were racing, but they were all thinking the same thing: what were they going to do now?
“We need to get Wukong to an isolated place. One where he won't risk burning down a whole city. If only we had the original maker of the fire here. They would be able to at least touch Wukong without getting burned or a full dragon born.” Nezha sighed.
Mei recalled the history of the Samadhi Fire told to them by the Demon Bull family. Red Son had created the fire… but Red Son was so far away.
“I can try to carry him,” she suggested, watching the monkey unsurely. At Nezha’s odd look, she elaborated, “My great-great-something grandfather is Ao Lie. My whole family is dragons. It’s how I inherited my sword.”
She lifted the blade, its green surface glinting against the light of the moon.
“Try it. He might be clingy from being in pain, even unconscious.” Nezha warned the young girl.
Mei nodded and bit her lip in an uncharacteristic display of nervousness. The unleashing of the Samadhi Fire had rattled her more than she wanted to admit.
She took a breath. She had to be strong - for Mk, for the world! She hoped her best friend was alright, wherever he was… Mei tiptoed forward and slowly wrapped her arms around the still Wukong.
She grimaced at the heat coming off him. “Dang, he feels like he’s got a bad fever,” Mei noted shifting Wukong to her back as his tail unconsciously curled around her waist, blood dripping down his face from under the filet. Said blood once free from his skin hardened and clinked to the stone ground looking like teardrop-shaped rubies. Mei looked at that with fear. “I don’t think blood is supposed to turn into gemstones.”
“He’s a stone monkey, which means everything in his body is stone, even the blood. Usually, it would appear like human blood but since his body has hardened to stone it will appear like one.” Nezha explains.
“That was too many words.” Mei deadpanned lost in what he said. Nezha sighs
“stone body equals stone blood” Nezha simplifies. “until his body returns to normal at least” Nezha adds.
Mei looks over her shoulder at Monkey King as she silently thinks to herself. ‘You better be fine, dumb monkey.’
“What the hell do we do now?” Pigsy says in anger. “ Because by the looks of it, we lost two fighters due to the samadhi fire.” Pigsy continues as his voice raises in volume. “AND WHERE THE HELL IS MY SON!” Pigsy yells in frustration but anyone who knows him could tell it only out of fear for Mk. The kid he adopted all those years ago. The kid arrived at his doorstep with no one watching or taking care of him. The kid who as he grew up continued to put himself in danger leaving Pigsy in great distress. Pigsy needed to find him as soon as he can.
“ We can't focus on that now.” Nezha says “We need to get Wukong out of here before Lady Bone Demon finds out he has the samadhi fire.” Nezha says.
“And leave Mk to that freak!” Pigsy yells. “ have you forgotten Macaque works for lady bone demon! He could be handing him over to her right now!” Pigsy yells in anger and fear.
“ All the more reason to get working out of here,” Nezha says. “If what you say is true then we need to get Wukong out of here or the lady bone demon will be unstoppable.” Nezha continues, “Leaving the child to be killed.” Nezha finishes off. Pigsy’s eyes go wide at the realization of the fear completely showing on his face.
“Alright then get out of here,” Pigsy says in a calm tone. Pigsy vows to himself that he’ll get the kid back no matter what.
“Tang, use my phone to call Red Son. See if we can meet him at a halfway point.” Mei requested the only other adult that wasn't as emotionally compromised.
“I can do that. I’ll see if he can't bring some clothes as well.” Tang started looking pale as he saw Wukong’s back.
Far above the group, a pair of glowing blue eyes narrowed at their departure. “My Lady will want to know of this development... It seems we will be going monkey hunting.” a creepy smile crossed the man’s lips before he stepped off the roof and disappeared in a swirl of blue mist.
The Lady Bone Demon smiled - a cruel smile, a vicious smile - as her servant arrived. His news was welcome. Fate will not stray from its path so easily. Sun Wukong and his… little followers were mere specs of dust in the sandstorm of destiny. Despite their pathetic, futile, attempts at stopping her, the future she foresaw all those years ago will come to fruition. She is, after all, nothing if not patient - hundreds of years of imprisonment will do that to you. All the pieces of the chessboard are in place. This time, she will win.
“Find the simian, I don't care how. He will be part of my machine one way or another even if we have to break him down,” she ordered her thrall, her ice creating a cage with thick bars and chains inside of it.
“Let's see how long it will take until your mate is a soulless husk, my runaway Macaque.”

Hi, would you be willing to write a Oneshot/Drabble of Redson, MK, Nezha, Syntax and the Mayor comforting their fem!S/O who suffers from anxiety attacks? Mines been going haywire lately and I love reading your work.
Oh absolutely! This was a very fun combination to work with! Enjoy, and take care of yourself!! <3
"Caught in a Crossfire"(900 w.c)
Redson, MK, Nezha, Syntax, and Not Mayor x FEM!Reader with anxiety attacks
Romantic, comfort oneshot
Pronouns: ngl it's pretty neutral but she/her/you/yours for reader
CW: the boys are fighting a lil, mini anxiety attack but it's fine
Tumblr media
You and your partners were an unlikely combination. A fire demon, a monkey kid, a half-spider, an immortal prince, and a zombie of a mayor…At least you couldn’t say that things weren’t interesting! Some of them, such as Mayor and Syntax or Redson and MK, were couples of their own who were glad to share with you. Nezha was along for the ride.
You did your best to have open and honest communication with all of them, especially if they all wanted to do different things. Such was the situation as of now.
Redson and MK invited you to come see a movie with them, and you agreed. However you had forgotten that you were going to have some lunch with Nezha. And of course, the Mayor wanted to make dinner for everyone tonight. It was all overlapping in the worst way possible, and tensions were mounting among the others as well.
You now sat on the couch in the Mayor's house, which was big enough that you all called it your central hub. The others were all in their own seats, with Redson on one side of you and Syntax on the other. Nezha and MK were on one of the loveseats, and the Mayor was standing near the coffee table. Their voices were all conflicting with one another. Your leg bounced rapidly as you felt your breaths become fast-paced and hard to keep up with.
“Guys…” you really didn’t want to deal with this right now. You had been excited to spend time with everyone. But now it was just a mess. Your quiet plea wasn’t heard.
“Our plans have been in place since last week. Y/n and I are going to lunch.” Nezha snapped. You started picking at the skin around your nails.
“The movie’s only an hour long. Just pick them up after it’s done.” Redson pointed out. His tail was swishing back and forth and it was adding to this sensory overload of yours as it kept tapping on your thigh.
“Y/n, are you okay?” MK held his hands in a “t” shape to signal for everyone to stop. Now all eyes fell on you and it felt impossible to move or breathe.
“I…” you could barely get words out. Why was this so hard? Syntax scooted away a little bit in order to give you some room to work with and Redson was quick to copy this motion. Nezha got up from his seat and went to the kitchen as the Mayor gave you a worried smile.
“Hey, take some deep breaths with me, alright? In,” MK instructed, motioning for you to copy him. You did. “And out. Good job! Let’s do it again!”
You followed his breathing. In for 4 seconds, holding for 7, and exhaling for 8. You could feel your nervous system realigning itself. Nezha came back with a glass of water and the ice cube tray. Before giving you the water, he handed you the tray.
“Here, hold this.”
“Huh? Why?” You still took the tray, even though you weren’t enjoying the cold feeling right on your fingers. But you got caught up in that and were successfully distracted from what was happening.
“Misdirection.”
“Forget about all that for a bit,” Syntax spoke up, in relation to all the plans. “What’s making you stressed and how can we fix it?”
You took your time to explain everything, pausing every now and then to drink water or do some more 4-7-8 breaths to regulate again. But you told them that you couldn’t think in all this noise, that you wanted to spend time with all of them but that it was difficult for you if everything was piling up all at once. They didn’t interrupt you once.
“Oh, y/n, we’re so sorry we made you so anxious.” The mayor gave you a hug as the others apologized as well.
“Let’s lay out a proper plan, alright? Space everything out evenly.” Redson looked to everyone, including you, looking for nods of agreement.
“Okay. I think since the Mayor is doing dinner tonight y/n and I can do lunch tomorrow. Does that work?” Nezha offered up. You gave a thumbs up.
“Then can we do the movie today so there’ll be a gap in between then and when we get back?” MK asked.
“Yes, and then you can work off all the snacks you’re gonna inhale.” Syntax joked.
“Perfect. Y/n, we still have a little time before we should get going. How about you clean up and then we’ll head out?” Redson put a hand on your shoulder.
“Yeah, that works. Thanks, guys. I’m sorry.” You put your now empty glass on the coffee table.
“There’s no need to be sorry, dear. We should have made sure everything worked before trying to pull you in a million directions.” The Mayor patted your head.
Each one of your lovers gave you a peck or a hug as an apology, and then they all started moving in their different directions to carry out plans. MK and Redson had you help them decide which seats in the movie theater to sit in. Nezha headed back to his own house to do whatever he wanted until it was time for dinner, and Syntax went with the Mayor to get the ingredients for the meal.
There’s never a dull moment with this group.

Wukongverse: Near death experiences
The Wukong's are gathered in their living room, each of them either laying on a couch or curled up in a pile of blankets and pillows and chattering about whose done what and the different experiences they've had. Really, they should be sleeping, its past midnight, but they've been talking for hours, and they've got a good rhythm going, it'd be a shame to stop now.
Uncle had just finished retelling his version of how he met Red Boy, when King gets a grand idea, "Hey, we should see who's come the closest to death out of all of us!" He's half joking, knowing that there's really nothing that could kill them other than the Samadhi fire, and that was easy enough to have avoided. Uncle snorts from his position in an armchair, reclined so far back you could almost mistake the recliner for a bed, "Well I just told mine, and that still didn't do enough damage to do more than knock me out when I hit the water!" He cackles.
Sunny rolls his eyes from his position on the floor, swaddled in a burrito blanket the others had forced him in to. "Well it's probably me, Heaven's attempts at punishing me damn near ended my story then and there. I'm lucky my Shifu stepped in at the last second." Lucky frowns from next to Sunny, scratching his head. "Well, the only thing I'd call a near death experience was when Grandpa Monkey King passed and I went to the underworld to try and bring him back." He shrugs, unbothered, "But that was hundreds of years ago for me, so nothing recent."
Dasheng grimaces, leaning back in his spot on the couch as he scratches his head and looks away from the others, "Ah, mine would've been fighting the Evil Lord when my powers were sealed by the chain..." He trails off, seeming to fall into his own memories. King noticed and, deciding that Dasheng had beat himself up over that enough, elbowed the younger in the stomach. Dasheng startled and looked at King incredulously, but he seemed to appreciate the gesture anyways.
King hummed as he leaned back, tapping his chin as he pretended to think. "Mm, I can't really think of anything... oh!" He grins as he snaps his fingers, Dasheng rolling his eyes next to him at the obvious dramatics, "I'd say mine was when I broke Nezha's seal to get the Samadhi fire map. But I don't know if it counts since I was still standing after, unlike you four." He says smugly, earning shouts of protest from the others.
"Speaking of which," King's eyes slide over to Sage, who was buried under a pile of blankets and pretending to be asleep. "Sage, what about you?" It's quiet for a moment, then an annoyed groan rises from the mound of blankets, Sage glaring through a sliver in the cloth. "I don't have one," he grumbles, burrowing further into the blankets in hopes they'll leave him alone.
But alas, Heaven hates him. Shocker.
"Oh, don't be like that Sage. All of us have at least one, you can't live a thousand years and not have a single near-death experience. You haven't been living properly if you haven't." King says with a smirk, eyes alight with mischief.
Sage growls under his breath, muttering a string of curses as he sits up to throw a pillow at King, "Oh fuck off, I'm just too strong for everyone in my world. No one's come close to killing me." He spits, glaring at King as he lays back down. The others burst into laughter, and Sage just sighs in annoyance when someone yanks the blanket over his head off him. "Come on, Sage!" Lucky giggles, the aforementioned blanket in hand, "It can't have been that embarrassing of an experience! Just tell us!" He pleads, eyes going big as he juts his lower lip out and ah fuck-
Sage yells and throws his hands up in exasperation as he sits up, "Fine- Fine! Just stop looking at me like that!" He says hysterically to Lucky, who cackles in response.
"I didn't have a near-death experience, I actually died." He finally says, looking away as he scratches the back of his head, avoiding looking at their no doubt gleeful expressions. "I know, I know- nothing can kill a Wukong, but I accidentally released an ancient demon king ancestor and he got the drop on me and the others. But I kicked his ass in the end and they all came back so it doesn't mean I'm weaker than any of you so don't think for a moment it does-"
He stops when he hears a choked inhale, and he finally looks over to see expressions of varying degrees of horror. King looks a little sick, actually. "Wait- wait, stop." King chokes out, "Wait, he killed you and the other pilgrims?" Sage grimaces as he nods, "And Fruity too." Dasheng inhales sharply at that, and Sage swears he sees water in the older monkey's eyes. "But it's fine, Fruity is the essence of life and brought us back and I disintegrated the bastard so it's fine-"
"No," Dasheng breathes, eyes wide and sad, "No, it's not. Sage you-" he wets his lips, like he can't quite believe it, "Sage, you died." Dasheng's eyes suddenly widen and he gets up from the couch, "Oh, shit- Sage, it's okay-" He hurries over, hands outstretched to his face. Sage recoils, confused, "Hey- what? I'm fine, what are you-" Dasheng cups his cheek and gently rubs his thumb across his cheek, and Sage is confused and Dasheng speaks, "You're crying," he says softly.
That's all Sage needs.
With a broken whine, Sage falls into Dasheng's chest, gripping the others tunic as he starts to sob quietly. Dasheng just shushes him gently and rubs his hands on the others back soothingly, holding him close and resting his lips on the top of Sage's head, rocking the younger back and forth as he sobs quietly into his chest.
In the morning, MK will find them all curled protectively around Sage and clinging to each other, covered in blankets and pillows as they dream.
If he takes a picture to show Mihou and Macaque later, well, that's his business.

Missing Scenes/Canon Compliant fics
i picture it, soft, and i ache by miyawaki (Rin/Venka, 194)
They were more like two drowning people clinging to each other.
But still, how could she ever know warmth again were Rin to be taken from her?
i got down on my knees and i pretend to pray by Losing_dog (Rin/Nezha, T, 465)
On the day the remnants of opium left Rins body, she did not feel victorious.
the altar is my hips by agnes_writes (Rin/Nezha, E, 3.3k)
It became a game to Rin. A way to feel the same rush that calling her flames once gave her, the power to raze the world to the ground and leave the world trembling with fear or slack-jawed with awe. But she couldn’t do that, so she settled with just Nezha, instead.
i'll show you the way to hurt by memiyawaki (orphan_account) (Chaghan/Altan, 149)
chaghan doesn't fear altan, or his fire.
if i had one night by lemonpepperxx (Rin/Nezha, E, 7.9k)
A soft knock sounded at the door. It was so quiet that at first Rin thought it might have been someone accidentally brushing against her door on their way down the hall. But no – there, a shadow below the bottom edge of the wood. The almost-silent creak of the floors as someone shifted their weight between feet.
She threw the door open with enough force to make the person on the other side jump back, dark eyes widening.
“Nezha?”
“Rin.” He spoke her name quickly, in one breath.
calculated morality by RoryMarx (AuroraKant) (Kitay&Nezha, T, 3.2k)
Nezha learned a lot of things about Kitay in the three weeks he was their prisoner.
He learned that Kitay had nightmares so frequently he barely slept. He learned that Kitay had helped Rin think of some of her more gruesome schemes, and he learned that Kitay might dream of astronomy and mathematics, but that he no longer believed that that future was possible.
They either won or they lost.
OR: The Poppy Wars from Nezha's point of view, focusing on his relationship with Kitay.
Venka by just_a_donut_who_reads (Venka&Original Female Character, G, 2.2k)
Venka's last-ditch attempt to escape an arranged marriage to the son of a Sinegardian aristocrat, as told by one of the attendants at the Sring Estate.
Or, what if Venka's story was more similar to Rin's than we thought?
so long nice to know you i'll be moving on by clairesredfield (Venka, M, 3.3k)
She carried so much fire with her. It would be strange thing indeed for her to leave without setting others aflame. — or; the way they saw her.
far too sacred by livid (Rin/Nezha, E, 5.4k)
He didn’t look triumphant or leering. He looked tired, but content. He was clearly working himself to the bone, but he was well fed and rested. And, equally obviously, well fucked. He was covered in bites and bruises and welts where nails - her nails? - had raked him, layered lurid over translucent skin.
She felt her cheeks heat, and he noticed. Then he did leer.
Tridents and Opportunity by just_a_donut_who_reads (Rin/Nezha, G, 1.2k)
"Challenge sparked in her eyes. Walking to the rack of weapons, she unsheathed a practice sword with a worn leather grip. Its edge gleamed like silver as she swung it around in precise, practiced motions before bringing it down to ready position."
Or: If Rin was going to be obstinate about using Altan's trident, Nezha might as well teach her how to wield it before she killed herself.
Knots by TheStarToSteerBy (Rin/Nezha, E, 597)
Quick breathing; anticipatory of a touch, a kiss. His heartbeat pounding like war drums in his ears. He loves her. Of this, he is certain.
Trial by Fire by aalgorithm (Chaghan/Altan, 6.1k)
i want to find you / tear out all of your tenderness
turned into your worst fears by nothing_more_than_hot_leef_juice (Vaisra/Tsolin, G, 1k)
'The Yin family had always looked so wonderful. They made the perfect picture raised above the waves.'
A short and slightly angsty exploration of Nezha's life and his relationship to his family and Rin.
New Beginnings by just_a_donut_who_reads (Rin/Nezha, G, 943)
"You call yourself a Sinegard-trained soldier?" Altan's voice had sunk to barely more than a whisper, and it was worse than if he was shouting. She wished he were shouting. Anything would be better than this cold evisceration.
Someone To You by just_a_donut_who_reads (Rin&Kitay, M, 1.8k)
The arc of Rin and Kitay's relationship from Kitay's point of view. Some rumination, some arson, and a friendship to last a hundred lifetimes.
Fear and Trust by Booksandanimepls (Chaghan/Altan, T, 1.1k)
Pretty much what the tags said. “She realized Chaghan felt this fear often. She realized Chaghan probably enjoyed it.” Yeah a continuation of that scene but from Chaghan’s POV.
my hollow flesh by haminastu (Jinzha&Su Daji, M, 726) *read the tags!*
Yin Jinzha's last moments before he dies.
still water to my wildest thirst by volantium (Rin/Nezha, E, 3.6k)
The thing about Rin was that she had never been a good person.
Nezha knows this. He always has. Yet still he watches her fall apart beneath his hands with something akin to reverence.
He simply doesn't care.
Just Ask Me To Stop And I Will by DizzyKinesin (Kitay, M, 1.6k)
Rin is out and about doing her girlbossing and murdering while Kitay gets to hang out and relax with Venka (not).
lay me down in ash by mousmoula (Chaghan/Altan, G, 4.7k)
He was already standing on the edge, toeing over the very thin line between admiration and love. If he miscalculated, if he crossed that line, it'd be nothing but a pitiful fall, and he’d be nothing but a woeful ruin.
or, r.f. kuang said that "[altan] took chaghan out into the valleys for three days" and then proceeded to never talk about it again, so i wrote 4.7k words to cope because i'm extremely normal
Summer by just_a_donut_who_reads (Rin/Kitay, G, double drabble)
One-shot of Rin's time with Kitay in his summer estate, AKA one of the few times everyone was actually happy <3

gods, I hate him by just_a_donut_who_reads (Rin/Nezha, G, 244)
Rin hates Nezha. So fucking much.
Or so she thinks, anyway.
Do We Dare To Dream? by just_a_donut_who_reads (Rin/Nezha, G, 550)
Aftermath of Rin and Nezha's reunion after she returns from being bonded to Kitay. No plot, just fluff.
went looking for a creation myth (ended up with a pair of cracked lips) by sagittariusmoon (Rin/Nezha, G, 580)
"She’s the only divine thing he’s ever believed in."
Nezha's inner turmoils, and the ways Rin alleviated them and made them worse.
distance to empty by tidesong (Trifecta, E, 7.2k)
The question was never about when it started. It was about when it had ended.
-
Daji and Ziya and Riga, in rises and falls.
Ink, Battle Strategies And History Classes by writingangstyshit (Rin/Nezha, T, 1.5k)
Rin was like fire. Wild and unrestrained. And Nezha hated her. Hated that he loved her. And it was naive to think his love would save them. Their love, forbidden, desperate, and tragic until the end. Because while Rin was like fire in a dry forest, he was like the unforgiving ocean.
altan's sword by fangrunins (Rin&Kitay, G, 1.3k)
Rin's struggling with a new disability. She hates struggling. And for Kitay, watching Rin struggle is worse than any other kind of pain.
Xin'ai by just_a_donut_who_reads (Rin/Nezha, G, 1k)
It's another night on the Seagrim (one of the few places where Rin knew peace ;-;) and Rin and Nezha converse in the moonlight.

she's just one girl, one girl who burns more brightly than anything else in the world. how much longer does she have before she burns out?
and if you're on fire, i'll be made of ashes, too by qirongbae (Rin&Kitay, T, 4.4k)
Could she really bid farewell to the safety of him, to the certainty of a soul that steadied hers, that carried Rin through the nightmares and the torment of the Phoenix?

you had to kill me (but it killed you just the same) by qirongbae (Rin/Nezha, T, 2.4k)
“It was supposed to be different,” Nezha’s hand reached out to her. He wanted to touch, to hug her and cry and wail until everything disappeared, but he couldn’t bring himself to kneel at her side. His legs remained rooted in place, cursed waves lapping gently at his feet. “I—we were supposed to be different.”

It’s that time of year again (even though I really don’t do this yearly, more like whenever I remember to post) for me to post the art I’ve made recently. There will definitely be a trend of LMK (Lego Monkie Kid) art here because I’m currently hyperfixated on Monkey King things. (but honestly he’s a mood and I wish I could have someone like him in my life because I need that chaotic energy in my life). Anyways here’s the art, which is mostly ocs but I don’t care lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay so to start us off on what I’ve drawn is (newest to oldest):
Xiaoyue (the first two pictures) is one of my lmk ocs. She is Mk’s sister and pretty much his Macaque just without the trauma (which comes during s2/s3 when LBD briefly gets into Mk’s head and causes him to attack his sister which results in her getting a scar. She is blind in that eye, but I forgot to show that so imagine her eye is a grayish color instead or she’s simply wearing a colored contact).
Next up is Red Son. Though it’s more of a redesign/AU design because I was on a redesign kick, but I really enjoyed his design in lmk (at least his outfit) so I just changed up his colors and added more bull features on him along with the five rings that Guanyin put on him in JttW (though I believe one is supposed to be around his head like with Monkey King, but I decided to put it on his neck instead. Sort of like a necklace).
Next is a lil mini comic thing (that I used a reference for that I found on Pinterest) of JttW Wukong and pre-curse Bao (another lmk oc who’s pretty much transcended to anything Monkey King related lol) when they first meet and pretty much fall in love with each other. Though they have technically met before then, back when Wukong was causing trouble in heaven for the Jade Emperor. The two never really interacted for various of reasons, but young Bao did find Wukong to be a breath of fresh air (metaphorically speaking) compared to everyone else in heaven. (If you want Bao backstory I’ll give it just send an ask and I’ll spill the tea lol)
Next up is Qingling (another lmk oc lol) who is a young goddess that can turn into the twelve different animals of the zodiac as well as communicate with them. The purple robe is from when she was placed to guard the map of the Samadhi Fire with Nezha, who pretty much became her mentor but not really (he just taught her how to fight so that she’d be able to actually guard the map). The red robe is from when she left her position, which happened some time before the events of the show, and met Mk (who she gained loyalty to and a crush/partner which is totally based off of a rp with a friend). She’s pretty much like Mk, but more on the side of being similar to early Monkey King (mostly because she used to terrorize people with her powers for the fun of it plus she honestly didn’t know how to treat mortals before meeting Mk since she was sort of taught that they were beneath her).
Next we have Possessed AU (my own little AU) Bao, which is about how Bao ran away from heaven upon finding out Wukong had been trapped under a mountain (she had a crush on him and was overreacting lol) and ended up meeting Lady Bone Demon, who used her powers to possess the vulnerable young goddess. Unlike “Mayor”, Bao is a mute and does what either LBD or Mayor tell her to do (she’s referred to as his receptionist many times to mostly hide her true identity). The staff was something created for Bao by LBD to channel her powers and allow Bao to use both LBD’s bone magic (like Macaque did in s3) and her own sunlight magic. (If you want to know more about the AU just send an ask, I’d be happy to answer it)
Next is actually a fusion design/redesign/AU design for Macaque. It’s a mixture of his 2009 Monkey King show design and his LMK design. I really liked the design of young Mac so I thought it’d be fun to merge the designs. It’s kinda like his true form, or at least my version of his true form. I’ll eventually draw the full body version of it lol.
Lastly is a random thing I wanted to make that got stuck in my head for days before I actually drew it and I love it so much. The two characters have evolved from just random characters to ocs that I’m slowly making a world around. For now they’re just referred to as the Princess and the Vampire since I don’t have names for them yet. Though I do know that he’s the “villain” of the story and their lives are intertwined with each other no matter what they do.
Alright. That’s all, for now. Feel free to send in asks about any of my ocs or AUs, I’m always down to talk about them with anyone who’d listen. Also feel free to ask my opinion on lmk stuff since it’s apart of my current hyperfixation. Anyways, have a lovely life!

love how rn I'm experiencing the 'gonna go through your blog at rapid fire speed for that sweet sweet content' spam SHDGDHD /lh
also. abt S4 special.
(breathes in so deeply.)
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. okay. okay. I have SO many thoughts about next special. most of them are Nezha thoughts but still.
things I require in S4 special:
1. Nezha backstory
2. Nezha therapy
3. Nezha helps MK/Wukong accept that their "fate" of being a force of chaos and destruction is a lie
4. WUKONG NEEDS TO GET A TALKING TO (AFFECTIONATE) AND COMES TO TERMS WITH HIMSELF
5. Wukong finally being the one to actually tell the story completely and not rely on 5 different unreliable narrators
6. Nezha. just Nezha.
7. RED SON!!!!!!!
Look. I need Wukong to be stuck in the scroll and have the scroll-pilgrims just have to talk to him like "Wukong, you've been stuck in this cycle of dysfunctionality for years. WAKE UP."
and of course, literally everything Nezha.
that's my two cents, please and thank you
I went through yours even faster I need the CONTENT AND TO TALK TO PEOPLE
ALL THIS
ALL OF THIS
YES
Plus a development on this whole « demon child thing » ? Maybe see his God of War form with all the arms and heads ? That’s a well known enough iconography for him to have without it seeming too out of place ?
It doesn’t even need to take all that long since there’s already so much to deal with in the specials but
A little talk
Between Nezha and Mk (I’ve had a little theory about how Nezha could serve as an example of what MK could become, additionally to Wukong, Macaque and Azure : here a selfless borderline suicidal soldier lawful good to a fault, and as far as we know, very very lonely)
Like they both just lost their whole world, Nezha’s been eating the ground ever since season 3, I’d wager he’d be a LITTLE salty about it ?
So that’d be nice to see
And Of course Wukong because we’ve mostly only heard his story from people who hate his guts and we can’t trust them, of course they antagonize Wukong they’re struggling themselves !
The talk with the original pilgrims tho I’d love that ?? Or him slowly realizing that this isn’t real and tho he loves and misses them, he’s always moved forward and now needs to go find MK and go back to his life
Just as a follow up to the dual with the Ink Curse that’s be swell
So
Nezha and Wukong, yes ? Yes. YES. And Red Son who’s been attending Top Chef through S4 I guess cuz he wasn’t there enough…

Movie Night
Nezha sat on the couch while the movie rolled on, almost unable to hear it over the droning sound of the ceiling fan. Frankly, he didn't care too much, either. The film was old and held historical inaccuracies so severe that he couldn't bring himself to give even a fraction of a flying fuck.
But it was the sound of a whip cracking to spur forth the horses that pierced the veil. MK and Mei turned to Nezha, confused as to why he'd suddenly sat up so straight. The way the Deity clenched the couch cushions at his sides so tightly that they expected him tear them rose alarm bells in both of their heads, and the two friends processed them in dramatically different ways.
Maybe the sights and sounds drew his interest, but that panicked bead of sweat on his face couldnt have been good, nor were the way his breaths were so shallow and fast. They were uneven, as if he couldnt breathe at all, and was struggling for air.
MK didn't know much of Nezha's story, and felt it rude to pry. However, if the situation brought this much stress to his friend, he wasn't going to sit idly by. MK reached for the TV remote and pressed pause while Nezha got himself together. The Dragon and the Stone Monkey could only wait, biding their time.
He could almost feel the whip against his skin all over again, those harsh, metallic edges to the segmented metal more than enough to break his skin. His dazed expression didn't do the appalling memories he was left with any justice. Nezha could have sworn he felt his own ichor rolling down his back from the force of the celestial chain whips that had been used to punish him, thoroughly inspired by the same punishments some militaries used.
Some sick part of him missed the harsh metal against his skin, while the rest of his being simply froze, zoning off as the static overwhelmed his senses. It was like his skin was on fire, yet he felt no pain. It was like his eardrums had burst, and yet they didn't bleed.
MK finally took a leap of faith, setting his hand on Nezha's shoulder in an attempt to get his attention. In an instant, the ancient Deity had MK subdued with his armillary sash, wrapped up tightly on the floor. Mei stopped before she could unsheathe her sword, examining the Lotus Deity briefly.
Those panicked breaths had to be indicative of fear.
“Yang Nezha." Mei stated flatly, calling the ancient Deity by his current, legal name. It seemed to snap him out of whatever it was, and he staggered back as mist filled his vivid pink eyes.
"I... I'm sorry, Xiaotian. I do not understand what-" Nezha stopped as MK and Mei both rushed to hug him. The pressure was familiar, something that tore at his heartstrings despite his best efforts to keep himself composed.
Mei reached up to wipe the Deity's tears, then squeezed his cheeks, prompting a noise of protest. "Why didn't you tell us this movie would upset you, dumb-dumb?! I would have changed it to something else! We've all been through enough, especially you." Mei let go and stepped back, rubbing her arm while Nezha processed the entire sequence of events, and the fact that MK was still clinging to him.
When the tremors died down and Nezha's mind calmed, he took a moment to get his bearings. Right, right... he was still in MK's apartment, not on a blood-soaked battlefield he'd been forced to stain further.
"...yeah. I think we should watch something else. For all of our sakes."
"So, what do you want to watch, big guy?" Mei replied, remote in her hand.
Nezha smiled weakly.
This was home, alright.

No One's Ill at Ease Chapter 1 - Golden Boy
Summary:
Nezha is captured in battle.
"Tang, now!"
MK gave his friend a signal, and it did not take long for Nezha to understand what it meant. The spell Tang was preparing would transport them all out of the battle against the Azure Lion, leaving the Celestial Realm unguarded.
However, escape was not an option. Not for the Lotus Prince.
But rather than protest, Nezha acted. Forcing his way past MK and out of range of Tang's magic, he pushed himself directly into the lion's line of fire, and the voices of MK's friends calling out to him was the last thing he heard before they disappeared. Milliseconds later, the shockwave from Azure's attack hit him head-on, opening wounds far deeper than he'd had before.
His body hit the cold marble with a thump, and all he could feel was fire. In his bones, in his skin, in his veins, burning, screaming pain. He tried to tense his muscles, to get them to respond to any signal, but they did nothing except lay still on the stone. An unseeable pressure weighed down on him, preventing him from getting up. He was pinned down, unable to do anything. His chest burned and his lungs felt stabbed. He could hardly bring himself to breathe. But above all the injuries, the sting of failure cut through him as he felt himself beginning to give up hope. All the courage he'd had before had melted away, and he was left weak and torn apart, rendered useless by the enemy.
The last shred of consciousness he had left allowed him to hear chatter from where he'd been tossed aside.
"Leave him be," a deep voice, which Nezha didn't have the mind to place who it belonged to, told another solemnly.
"You've seen him, Azure," a higher voice argued. This one was much closer to him, sounding as if they were turned halfway toward him, keeping an eye on him. "The moment we think he's done for, he gets back up again. We can't just leave him!"
Several seconds of silence stretched on, or at least Nezha assumed it was several seconds, not just his mind drifting in and out of consciousness.
"Alright," the first voice replied, getting louder and clearer as he spoke - or was he just getting closer? It was probably that. "You can restrain him, but please, do not hurt him any more than is necessary. He is just another victim of the Jade Emperor's tyranny."
The higher voice groaned as if inconvenienced, but seemed to oblige. When Nezha forced his eyes open, he was met with a flash of bright light before the glowing feathers of the Golden-Winged Eagle were pinned into the cracks of his armor with unexpected precision, careful not to strike his body again but effective in keeping him further immobilized, as if he could have gotten up otherwise.
"That should be enough," the higher voice, which Nezha now recognized as the bird, mumbled before their footsteps departed. He listened for the footsteps of the others, but heard nothing, meaning they were either still there or had walked away before the eagle had.
The Lotus Prince awoke later in chains. He hadn't remembered falling asleep, but he concluded that he must have been deeply knocked out to be transported without his knowledge. The golden feathers were gone, and his wounds had been carelessly bandaged. The pain remained overwhelming, but he could tell now with greater accuracy where most of the pain was focused. He'd needed to adjust his sitting position and take careful, shallow breaths because anything else caused a stabbing sensation in his chest, so he knew he must have broken multiple ribs. The stinging pressure in his right leg signaled that there was a deep puncture wound. There was definite bruising all over his back from when he'd fallen against the stairs during the battle. Those were the greatest of the injuries, but the rest of his body was littered with scratches, cuts, and bruises.
Awareness didn't change much, though. He still struggled to stand and move around the prison cell he'd been placed in. The injuries were still serious, despite how much he'd like to pretend they weren't. It would take time for them to heal properly, if they healed properly at all. A part of him hoped that the bandages over his wounds were a signal that his captors were not terribly cruel.
Without the demand of battle, there was little else for Nezha to focus on but the pain of his injuries and the guilt of his failure.
There was little way of knowing how much time had passed now. The Azure Lion Demon may have already defeated the Jade Emperor. Nezha's failure to protect the Celestial Realm, the only thing he was worth, could rip apart the universe at any moment. His own weakness had doomed the world.
"Well, don't you look like trash, Demon Child?"
Nezha lifted his head, looking past the bars with a dazed expression. "The Golden-Winged Eagle," he greeted lowly, glaring.
The eagle rolled their eyes. "My friends call me Peng."
Nezha blinked, his glare not faltering. "We are not friends."
Peng leaned against the bars condescendingly. "We might as well be. You don't have anyone else."
That stinging reminder struck Nezha unguarded. It was... true, but not often pointed out. The Lotus Prince was generally by himself, whether he intended to be or not. He did not feel lonely often, but he really was alone now, wasn't he?
"Why are you here?" he muttered.
"I thought you might appreciate the company," Peng answered. "It was either that or solitary confinement. I'm sure by now you've realized nobody is coming back for you."
Nezha only huffed indignantly in response. What did it matter if he wouldn't be rescued? It would be pointless. He had failed at his one purpose; he was useless now. Why would anyone save him after his mistake had cost the world so gravely? He didn't deserve it.
Peng looked at him from the corner of their eye with an expression that spoke of curiosity, before breaking eye contact and standing up straight.
"Good talk, Lotus Prince," they murmured, turning their back and walking away.

I have a fluff flak cannon, and I'm not afraid to use it. Glad you love my fluffy headcanons, fluff, angst, and comfort is my jam. Here, have a (small) fluffy domestic oneshot. FIRE THE FLAK CANNON!
(More stuff for the Rage of the Abandoned/rage of abandonment AU)
Nezha placed his foot onto the surface of the lake, sending ripples as the enchanted water's surface tension wavered somewhat, but didn't break under the prince's weight. Breathe in. Breathe out. The prince stepped forward, one foot after another, his posture straighter than usual. Just keep moving. Breathe in, breathe out, shoulders down, relaxed. A moment of quiet domesticity that the prince would never show in the presence of his superiors, though after all that had happened, perhaps he would show his heart to Li Jing again. He thought for a moment, pausing at the door of the house that floated on the lake. He stiffened and jumped slightly when the door opened to reveal none other than his closest friend, the water Deity Suijin. Her blue eye widened, and she lit up at the sight of the prince. "Nezha, you're back!" She sounded relieved to see him. The prince chuckled gently, raising a hand out of reflex to partially hide his smile. Suijin huffed and pulled his hand down by his wrist. "Don't hide that smile, you know I love to see you happy, and I'm not the only one." Nezha's cheeks flushed with color at the sentiment, and he turned away. "...well, I wouldn't have been able to heal without you holding my hand along the way. May I come in?" "You don't need to ask. Please." Suijin stepped aside, holding the door for the Lotus Prince. He nodded and walked inside, then sat down on the couch. "Tea?" Suijin offered as she shut the door. "Please." Nezha replied with a smile.
Nezha held his teacup in both hands, staring into the sweet tea within. He shivered when Suijin place her hand on his shoulder. "Hug?" The prince lit up, setting his tea aside. "Do you really need to ask?" He got up from his seat and held his arms out for her. The shorter Deity rushed into his arms, setting her head a few inches above his collar. The prince released an airy chuckle, running his hand through her hair. "...could we just lie somewhere for a while?" "I was hoping you'd ask that."
"Binglun really did me a favor, and so did you by introducing me to them." "You're welcome, Nezha, you always are." The prince released another airy chuckle, smiling gently. "You've done a lot for me." "It's 'cuz you're a dork." The prince blushed harshly at that statement, shoving her off of himself. He crossed his arms. The water Deity snickered. "Don't tease me!" Nezha protested with a huff. Suijin only laughed.
Showcase on two things: A. These two are insufferably sweet on each other and B. Suijin likes to tease Nezha and he finds it embarrassing, but it has zero impact on their relationship.
They are adorable!
It's so nice to see Nezha so calm

Spicynoodles? sleepover??? Red refuses to sleep on the floor, so MK offers the bed, and during the night, MK in a bit of a sleep walk ends up cuddling up to Red
“You can have the bed.”
Red Son looked up with an “Eh?”
“There aren’t that many beds in here,” Xiaotian’s voice was quiet. He nodded to the two upper beds. On one side, Xiaojiao had her back to them. She was probably still pissed at Red when he realized that she couldn’t control the Samadhi fire without knowing Xiaotian was okay and dragging her back. On the other, Lady Bone- Bai He was curled up. He had no idea where Third Lotus Prince Nezha was, but he knew the “adults” were sleeping outside in tents. “I can sleep on the floor.”
“Shouldn’t you get the bed? I am the guest.”
Xiaotian turned, pushing down his sleep shirt as he did. “That’s why you get the bed,” he said firmly.
A bit startled by the firmness, Red nodded. “Okay.”
The Noodle Boy nodded back before reaching over and turning off the light. He pulled out a sleeping bag from a shelf and kicked it out, revealing a pillow was in there. Before Red could make another attempt to try and convince him to take the bed, Xiaotian was zipping himself in and gripping the pillow.
Leaving Red to just collapse into bed.
He was tired! He couldn’t help it!
Except he was more staring at the bed above than sleeping. Xiaotian seemed to have fallen asleep fast, based on the quiet breathing. Crickets and an occasional frog were playing outside. In the tents, he could hear the scholar snore. If she was breathing, Bai He was dead silent.
“...tell him he sleepwalked.”
Red craned his head. “What?”
Xiaojiao didn’t turn back. “He likes to snuggle,” she admitted, quietly enough that Red had to strain his ears. “But he won’t admit it. So I pull him into bed whenever he takes the floor and tell him he sleepwalks when he wakes up.” She let out a rough chuckle. “He believes it every time.”
Ah.
“Are we good?”
Xiaojiao shrugged. That seemed to be the end of the conversation.
Welp. Red had to try it.
To be polite. No other reason.
He slid to the floor and unzipped the bag. Like it was keeping the other man contained, limbs sprawled out with new freedom. Red easily slid his hands under Xiaotian’s body and scooped him up. Carefully, he moved back and adjusted until Xiaotian laid across him.
Hopefully, he bought the lie as Xiaojiao said.

Books
A Knot in the Grain and Other Stories by Robin McKinley. Not bad for a fantasy short story compilation, but as I read the stories I felt like too many questions went unanswered, or the answer wasn’t clear enough. I know there’s an art to not answering questions and making that intentional, but I didn’t pick up the feeling of the author being intentionally vague. It was still fun to read. I’m really just in a fantasy binge mode.
Fire and Water by Robin McKinley and Peter Dickinson. Both books are collections of short stories based on elemental spirits. Eh…. they were okay. Didn’t like them as much as the others.
Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky. Hard book to get through. There’s so much monologuing and it doesn’t all make sense to me. People seem to be talking trite nonsense half the time and then being unbearably deep the other half. It is an interesting look at morbid aspects of the human heart. Might be that it’s a bit over my head to appreciate fully, but I’d like to read at least one more by this author. Maybe The Brothers Karamazov.
Movies
Hello Dolly. (mini liveblogging of reactions) There are way too many musicals I have not gotten around to seeing, simply because I have old favorites and sometimes it’s hard to get out of a rut. I am two minutes and four seconds in and CLEARLY not watching this before now was a failure on my part. I am in awe of the opening sequence that is just a series of legs and feet, but they are all moving to the music and they tell a dozen different stories that are very easy to understand even without seeing anybody’s top half, this is EXCELLENT framing and shooting and I feel like I’m in for a real treat. (In the middle of “It takes a woman”) I cannot tell you how much I missed over the top satire. This very much has the feel of My Fair Lady’s “With A Little Bit of Luck”. But then it’s taken up by the protagonist with an entirely different tone and WHAM the feels hit. I’m not enjoying all of the musical numbers, but there’s this one bit in the middle of the song about dancing where Dolly accepts a dance invitation from the grizzled old groundskeeper, and seeing this high-class looking widow take his invitation without a shred of irony, and to see him take her dancing in such a way that shows he’s clearly done this for many years and may be a widower himself, it’s just this strange sweet kind of moment that’s meant to be savored. And then again WHAM this high class widow, whenever she has a musical number in private, just NAILS you with her song and performance and all her emotions. Barbara Streisand was incredible, absolutely incredible. A lot of the other characters don’t really feel real, they feel like Musical People. She slips on the clothes of a Musical Person but then she drops the facade and shows you how hard all this is for her and it’s incredible. The movie is worth it just to watch HER. Even if it is very stressful watching her manipulate conversations and move people around like pawns. I have to say I do not, for the life of me, understand why she wants a relationship with Mr. Horace Vandergelder, or why he agrees. They look like they’ll make each other miserable for life.
Honest Thief. I went in with low “dumb robbery movie” expectations and was pleasantly surprised. I think I was most surprised by the fantastic chemistry of the couple and pretty much everyone’s acting. Aside from the acting it wasn’t anything remarkable, but everyone took it up to the next level. Nice flick. Also it tickles me to hear the voice of Aslan talking about how he carried out perfect robberies.
Nezha. Holy. Cow. Okay it doesn’t make total sense to me, not all the way through, but I chalk that up to missing cultural/lit knowledge and translation issues. Setting that aside, animation was gorgeous. Story was fun, but also compelling. There was some gross-out humor, but I’ve seen worse. And the climactic fight scene? Man. It went SO LONG but I didn’t even care. Some fight scenes drag on, but this one could have been twice as long and I would have been fine with that. The creators of this film really went all out with creativity and variety all throughout the film. I don’t totally understand the ending but I would love to see more (as the credits scenes hinted that there might be more). Oh wait, there is more and it’s called Jiang Ziya…
The Mitchells vs The Machines. This movie was so full of heart and also so full of complete over the top dumb goofiness. It kind of reminded me of Despicable Me in that way. Definitely brought a smile to my face.
Shows
Star vs the Forces of Evil. I had to re-watch through Eclipsa’s and Meteora’s arc because I’d seen that much before, but too long ago to remember. I re-watched it, then settled in for the last season which I hadn’t seen before. Watching through the new content and… I’m… disappointed. Story seems to be all over the place. The conflict is so forced it hurts. People are flatter than flat. And they’re all idiots. I feel like the show is trying to reach for a moral and don’t even know what that is from episode to episode. Wow. And as I go into the final arc, it just gets worse. Ham-fisted with zero focus and twists out of the bloody blue that make zero sense. You know… this series was hard to get into because characters were annoying and gross at the start. But then it added depth to each character and made me care about them as it went along. But everything after Eclipsa became queen has flushed all of that down the toilet as fast as possible and it is maddening to see that story-trust wasted. Nothing means anything in this story, that’s the conclusion I end up coming to. Nothing means anything and there is nobody worth caring about. I am radically disappointed. And kind of angry at the sheer number of levels at which the storytelling became terrible.
Games
Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. I wasn’t sure how I’d handle another controller-based game after getting so accustomed to Breath of the Wild (I’m on a second re-play of that, I play it whenever my brain is on the fritz so badly that I can’t do anything else). But it turned out to be pretty easy to get into. The hardest part is getting stuck about how to solve certain puzzles and trying to figure it out over and over. Sometimes I figure it out, but sometimes I need to look up a hint online. I’m almost at the end of the game and I’ve enjoyed it quite a bit. I want to play more Zelda games...
Katamari Re-Roll. This is so stupid. I mean, SO VERY STUPID. And so much fun. You start off as this tiny little person just rolling a ball around and you can pick up anything smaller than you (thumbtacks, coins, caramel candies) and as your ball gets bigger, your options open up (mice, carrots, eggs, crabs) and open up (shoes, toys, cats, dogs) and open up (humans, food carts, cows). I hear you get to roll up houses at some point. I’m looking forward to that. For now I’m at the level where I’m rolling up a lot of people. They’re all wiggly and shrieky. It’s funny. There’s a time limit on each level, and you have to reach a certain size by the time limit, which is the only really annoying thing about it. But I’m still having a lot of fun.
World of Warcraft: Classic. Of all the games I never thought I’d play, this is probably toward the top of the list. I don’t like the concept of grinding. I like story. But after playing Breath of the Wild, I also found out that I love exploration/open world type games. My husband helped me build a character and we ran around doing quests and levelling up. Now I’m a level 17 Dwarf hunter who does skinning and leatherworking. I have a pet wolf named Chompers. I’m having a lot of fun. Probably not obsessive levels of fun, but enough fun that I’m happy to sink a couple several-hour sessions a week into playing.
