#WOULD probs have to source different fabric.

me, full of ongoing scrupulosity abt microplastics and also a vague sense that it would be good for me to take another crack at incorporating running into my life for 'holy shit i desperately need endorphins' reasons, scouring the shorts market for anything natural-fiber but also functionally/aesthetically fit for purpose and coming up almost* entirely blank: what if i bought another one of the merino-tencel tanks whose fabric i'm in love with (or‚ you know‚ sourced similar fabric somewhere that wasn't already a different garment‚ but like‚ that would involve learning things about 'where to get specialty fabric' in addition to the 'how to sew it' part) and turned it into running shorts? surely it couldn't be that hard??
⸻ * in fairness, icebreaker does make some that tbh are probably ideal except for cost but like. do i want to go running in basketball shorts? not really. and the tiny (women's) version only comes in black which is so dreary. i keep hoping they'll come out with some other colors but so far no dice! also an extremely crunchy-granola company makes some weird little gym shorts in a hemp knit which. i'm sorry, i grew up in manhattan and i'm dubious! they might be great but! 🧐
#yes it absolutely could#i mean there IS a sewing machine kicking around downstairs somewhere and i think according to Baby Sister it even works#so in theory i could re-teach myself how to use it#and also in theory a tiny pair of drawstring shorts shouldn't be *that* hard‚ i feel like??#(they say‚ totally naively)#i definitely don't really understand how you deal with curves. like i know sometimes you cut little notches into them but. when. why.#anyway i think actually normal running shorts are woven fabric and the tanks i'm obsessed with are knit so.#WOULD probs have to source different fabric.#this is too many humps to get over so realistically it's not going to happen#and frankly given that i already own nylon shorts it's like. what's the plan for those#like even if i did make tencel/merino ones to replace them… the other ones still exist#i guess if they just sat in a box under my bed forever they at least wouldn't be producing microplastics???? (is that even true really?)#like with most stuff that's environmentally bad it's still better to keep using it than to replace it before time#but like. if it's washing that creates the microplastics and otherwise they're just a relatively inert pile of plastic in my closet…#maybe it IS actually better to like. file them away until society works out Plastic Disposal decades from now??#idk. also this is all SO sad to me bc brightly-colored gorpcore would otherwise be my EXACT aesthetic#i was a patagonia baggies kid and i would happily be a patagonia baggies adult but. sigh!!#honestly this entire problem is too big for me#i have just enough brain to be making myself crazy abt it but not enough brain to know how to tackle it#and honestly the solution probs isn't really individual anyway#it'll be like. scientists working out microplastics filtration and safe degradation#and textile people developing better textiles going forward#anyway. sometimes you stay up too late and yr brain starts spinning in ways that feel exciting and productive but. aren't.

Why Ethical Fashion Doesn’t Need to be Boring (In the Words of a Shopping Addict): Lookbook no.14
Hi to anyone reading,
Arghhhh.
I never know how to start posts when I literally just uploaded the other week because I tend to follow the very formulaic approach of summarising what I’ve missed due to sporadic posting…I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’m still posting sporadically, it just so happens I’ve had more content to get up recently-sometimes lightning strikes twice, ya know, and I have a brief, if chemically fuelled, reprieve from the permanent state of exhaustion. It’s not like there isn’t stuff to talk about- the last month has seen a horrific murder and public outcry in response. There are a lot of important conversations going on about women’s safety and misogynistic violence that I really cannot do justice to in a paragraph and feelings that have been brewing for a long time that I can’t articulate yet and will not attempt to offhandedly do so in this post. Right now I just wanna say that I stand in solidarity with all those with histories of experiencing violence at the hands of men, those who aren’t here with us anymore as a result of that violence such as Sarah Everard, and those marginalised women whose stories don’t make national news. It’s very telling the way Sarah’s vigil was responded to by the same police force that have allowed mostly male anti-mask protests to go ahead with protestors unscathed, and solidarity with the women who were treated with such an unjustifiable amount of force at the vigil too.
That being said, women’s rights are something I wanted to talk about in this post, with regards to the way it ties into ethical fashion. None of us are perfect and it’s easy living in a first world country to detach yourself from the issues stemming from fast fashion, especially when you don’t have the time or money yourself to be selective about where you buy from. Don’t get me wrong, I do treat myself to some new clothes from fast fashion companies like ASOS and Urban Outfitters a few times a year so this is NOT coming from a place of preaching, but I have drastically reduced that to buying about 90% of my new clothes either second hand from Depop or charity shops or clothing stores that are upfront about their outsourcing practices. I love putting outfits together and updating my wardrobe and I don’t want to abandon that as a medium of self-expression because it does bring me joy, but to continue to update my wardrobe with the frequency I do by buying from fast fashion retailers on such a regular basis I accepted was going against the things I care about; around 80% of textile workers on poverty wages in developing countries are girls and women (opensocietyfoundations.org), and whilst fast fashion companies in the West continue to outsource manufacturing to said countries to cut costs and there is little regulation enforcing employers to pay women the same amount as men or even adhere to a minimum wage, they will continue to be forced into these roles where they are subjected to horrific working conditions, impossible production targets and frequent abuse (according to an article published in the Guardian in June 2018, 540 incidences of abuse, often of a sexual nature, were reported by women working in factories supplying the retailers GAP and H&M when they were interviewed on the subject). There is no denying that the fast fashion industry depends on and perpetuates the subjugation of women and systematically prevents them from making steps towards gender equality in their countries, be it through greater financial independence or the freedom to pursue higher education; the popular current practice by western fast fashion companies of outsourcing manufacturing to factories unhindered by workers rights and gender equality laws by association condones the sexual and physical violence that occurs as a means of punishment for not meeting targets, the exploitative pay which affords women little independence from husbands and families dominated by patriarchal values, and the long, exhausting hours which women have little choice but to take in order to avoid their contracts being terminated and to put food on the table. No, one individual completely abandoning fast fashion isn’t going to put an end to these unethical practices but if all of us make a conscious effort to reduce our consumption at least a little and make it clear why we’re doing so, we put greater pressure on fast fashion companies to act in a more responsible way. There isn’t going to be any kind of miraculous change of heart, so to force them to change we have to hit the industry and the people at the top who benefit from such practices where it really hurts: their profit.
SO, for this post I thought I would highlight some of my favourite more ethical online clothing companies to buy from; the more popular these more socially responsible brands become, the more apparent it becomes to fast fashion companies relying on an exploitative business model that how they treat their workers is of growing importance to consumers. It’s all very well and good Missguided and PLT talking about empowering women and making “girl boss” slogan tees but we need to make it clear that we’re aware of the hollowness of the gesture, and that we want less hypocritical talk and more action to actually enhance the lives of the women that work for them, not just the ones they show in their flashy offices on TV. I’ve included my favourite Depop shops too, because if you can shop second hand, that’s even better; though I like to treat myself to new clothes now and again, I’m aware that the impact the manufacturing process in general, whether or not the company acts in an ethical way with regards to their employment practices, has on the environment is more often than not detrimental. Depop has really been my saving grace this past year-if you know what you’re looking for and have the time and patience, you can find so many gems, and at this point the balance of my wardrobe is tipped firmly in the favour of the reuse and recycle approach to shopping. In the vein of reusing fashion, I thought I’d also include a mini lookbook for a cardigan I got from one of my favourite online retailers, The Ragged Priest, just as a reminder that 1). The best way to be sustainable is to rewear and 2). That with tweaks, one piece alone can give you multiple completely different outfits. Like honestly, outfit repeating doesn’t have to be a literal repeat. Sometimes it’s worth spending a little bit extra on something that looks good with everything, and making that investment into your ability to fool people that you’ve got your shit together by wearing something cool as fuck.
Quickly before I get into it, I’m aware that some ethical companies are a bit out of the average consumer’s price range, and so I wanted to sort them into price point categories which will work as follows:
£= most of their stock is £40 & under ££= most of their stock is between £40-£100 £££= most of their stock costs upwards of £100
Now, in no particular order (and starting with online retailers before moving onto Depop shops), here’s the list!
1. THE RAGGED PRIEST
PRICE POINT: ££
Tumblr media
Using recycled fabric to construct their pieces where possible and releasing clothing in small drops designed to sell out rather than following the typical fast fashion model of outsourcing the production of vast amounts of clothing overseas, the Ragged Priest is my absolute favourite clothing brand out there. It’s *semi* affordable and because they are all about those bold, in your face, your-grandma-will-probs-think-it’s-ugly kinda pieces, just one can do SO much for your wardrobe.
Tumblr media
I recently bought this cardigan from their The Simple Life drop and had so many outfit ideas for it that I thought I’d put a few of them together for this post just as an example of how you can take the same piece over and over again and still make it interesting, even when you don’t feel like straying too far from your personal style preferences. While we’re at it, I also wanted to use this mini lookbook to point out how fucking great Depop is! Literally everything in these outfits is from there apart from the shoes and the jewellery, the leather blazer on the right I bought a few years ago and then the top and skirt in the outfit from the far left which are both from Ebay. The shoes with that outfit are from Koi Vegan footwear-I didn’t include them in this list because I wanted to keep it consistent and focus on ethical clothing companies rather than retailers that focus on one specific thing such as shoes or jewellery, but they are my favourite place to buy shoes from and focus closely on ethical production too so definitely recommend.
2. MINGA LONDON
PRICE POINT: ££
Tumblr media
Towards the lower end of the ££ price point, Minga is probably the closest you’re gonna get to an ethical version of the Dolls Kill Deliah’s range. Their focus on being a socially responsible business is a huge part of their ethos and their pieces are put together in Portugal, where they're based, by a small in-house team; the majority of their fabric is sourced from local Portuguese businesses and even more amazingly, they recycle the fabric of the pieces they don’t sell in new designs. They are just a generally amazing company and I wish more people knew about them because their pieces are fucking adorable and wouldn’t be out of place (or overpriced) in your local UO.
3. ELSIE & FRED
PRICE POINT: £
Tumblr media
A small, black owned business set up by 3 siblings from Coventry, Elsie & Fred have earned themselves a reputation as a staple provider of the festival season wardrobe. Being an independently owned business, they have strict standards that their manufacturers must adhere to and a close working relationship with the owners of the two factories who oversee production in Guangzhou, China, to ensure fair wages and a safe working environment. On the environmental side of things, Elsie and Fred are working to incorporate recycled fabric into their designs as much as possible and have this year introduced compostable mailing bags.
4. HOUSE OF SUNNY
PRICE POINT: £££
Tumblr media
Follow enough British instagram fashion influencers and you are bound to have heard of House of Sunny in 2020-snagging what is probably my all time favourite coat from there in 2019 before all the hype is a humble brag I will allow myself on the basis that I haven’t been able to afford anything since, lol. Along with kooky, one of a kind designs, being decidedly anti-fast fashion is a huge part of their branding; HoS only drop 2 collections of limited stock a year, thoroughly screen suppliers and on their website you can find a tonne of information on how they’re working to offset their environmental impact too. If you can treat yourself to a piece from there at any point, the quality of the garments truly make the price point worth it.
5. JADED LONDON
PRICE POINT: ££
Tumblr media
Similarly to The Ragged Priest and House of Sunny, Jaded London go the route of dropping limited collections on a less frequent basis intending to sell out (particularly popular pieces are occasionally restocked) rather than needlessly manufacturing vast quantities of garments to flog for whatever they can get and cutting corners with fair employment practices to offset any losses. By employing independent staff in the manufacturing plants with which they liaise to ensure fair, dignified working conditions and also by working closely with charities such as the Trussel Trust and Stand Up to Racism, Jaded London demonstrates a level of commitment to corporate responsibility that set them apart from a lot of similar online retailers. They are at the top of their game when it comes to daring and experimental yet wearable pieces and so it’s cool that they recognise the need to conduct their business in a considerate way too.
6. THE HIPPIE SHAKE
PRICE POINT: ££
Tumblr media
Owned by UK based bohemian queen Naomi Hession, the Hippie Shake is not only a great small independent business to support but is also the definition of slow fashion. With a limited number of opulent 70s style pieces, I have always wanted to purchase something from here. I’ve yet to do so but I’m gonna make it my mission eventually.
7. VINTAGE HEARTS
PRICE POINT: £
Tumblr media
An affordable, gorgeous array of quirky handpicked vintage pieces that would probably take you forever to find in a charity shop or that you’d be charged a small fortune for if you found it in a high street second hand store, Vintage Hearts is where you should go if you want a timeless statement piece that may have otherwise ended up in a landfill. The added benefit of vintage clothing is that it is, by its nature, great for the environment, but you can also look fab and groovy as fuck as you do your bit for the planet<3
8. WE ARE COW
PRICE POINT: £
Tumblr media
Offering both original vintage pieces and reworked pieces using recycled fabrics, We Are Cow has both basic branded second hand items but also handmade streetwear style original designs all for a fair price. You can tell that it’s all high quality stuff consistent with their modern, functional aesthetic and it’s clear that the team behind the shop has a real vision in mind when they’re designing.
9. OUT OF THE ORDINARY CLOTHING
PRICE POINT: £
Tumblr media
In the words of Corrie Davis, founder of OOTO "I start with the belief that fashion will be always be worn differently by the individual that wears it. Every collection from Out of the Ordinary is different to the last but undeniably Out of the Ordinary. I champion flamboyancy and embrace the cultures I've experienced around the world, merging the two and creating popular style trends in exciting textiles, prints and techniques to bring to you something a little Out of the Ordinary." That pretty much sums up the vibrancy, vivacity and bold elegance of the brand’s aesthetic perfectly, which is reflected by Davis’ commitment to ethical manufacturing based on relationships forged between the founders and family artisans and the sourcing of fabrics from textile markets around the world. Everything you need for a boujie summer holiday in the Mediterranean-when leaving the country is finally allowed again, lol, EVERYBODY GET YOUR FUCKING VACCINE-is here.
10. WILD THING
PRICE POINT: ranges from £-£££ depending on the brand
Tumblr media
Probs the closest thing you’ll get to an ethical ASOS, Wild Thing brings together a host of sustainable and independent clothing brands and puts them all in one place to present to us all a collection of the sickest festival style fashion out there. Whilst it’s super cool that this already exists and a slice of humble pie for myself to remind me that I am not in fact the revolutionary marketing genius I thought I was, I’m bummed to know that my idea of said ethical ASOS style website is already out there. Fingers crossed for the next grand money making scheme that comes to mind that I can use to distribute some wealth (yeah, there probably won’t be any because very few original thoughts enter my head, clearly, tehe) xoxo
11. SHOPFLUFFY
PRICE POINT: ££
Tumblr media
I know it’s 2021 and we all kind hate the idea of girl boss feminism and the connotations of privilege and exploitation that come with it but can we bring it back when we’re talking about women who embody what it was actually all supposed to be about? Because the owner of ShopFluffy, @lulutrixabelle embodies everything good about the term. Somebody who genuinely does (cue Ramona singer voice here) empower other women through her celebration of powerful female friendship and free spirited sense of personal style that should inspire every one of us to wear whatever the fuck we want (clashing patterns and over-accessorising be damned), Lulu handmakes all the designs on her site and very much places an emphasis on slow fashion by releasing only a few collections a year which you can clearly tell a lot of painstaking effort and talent went into. ShopFluffy is on the pricier side but the adorable crocheted coords LuLu specialises in, reminiscent of carefree childhood days and picnics in meadows picturesque enough to be the backdrop of a Jacquemus runway presentation, are a bold and beautiful expression of playful femininity worthy of departing with a bit more than you’d usually spend. After all, if you are gonna spend that money on a piece of clothing, supporting an ethical, independent woman owned business clearly built on carefully honed skill, passion and authenticity is the way to go.
12. SHOPEASYTIGER
PRICE POINT: ££
Tumblr media
It feels correct to follow up the ShopFluffy mention with ShopEasyTiger given the friendship between the former’s owner with Tigerlilly Winfield (is that not the most wonderfully storybook character sounding name of all time?), owner of Easy Tiger. Up there with my most revered style icons, Tigerlilly’s designs are as flamboyant and glamorous and daring and dramatic as her own personal style, and again, they are ethically made! If you want to get that psychedelic rock n’roll groupie that’s actually way cooler than the band itself kinda energy too, her shop is the place to start.
13. HOTTTRAMP
PRICE POINT: ££
Tumblr media
Founded by the incredibly hot Belle_hott_tramp on Instagram, HottTramp is a collection of both handmade pieces and carefully selected vintage finds that blur the lines between 90s Courtney Love style grunge and 70s summer of love hippy that make me want to start my own all girl rock band and hire a camper van to paint black and road trip through the American desert. Given my complete lack of hand eye coordination, I’ll most likely never have the instrumental skills to do that but I never said it was a realistic fantasy, okay?
14. LAZY OAF
PRICE POINT: ££
Tumblr media
Is it just me that always thought Lazy Oaf was within the same kind of price range as The Ragged Priest? Because it’s a lottt more expensive than I thought. That being said, if you’re going for a playful, toned down Molly Goddard kinda look, anything bright and youthful, Lazy Oaf’s clothes 100% fit that brief. You are paying more, but part of that markup is reflected in their transparency when it comes to their ethical code, which includes ensuring that statutory minimum wage laws are adhered to in the supply chain as well as that all workers are of the legal working age for their countries and that their working hours do not exceed the legal limit. They are also steadfastly committed to donating a portion of their profits to charities dedicated to improving mental wellbeing such as Mind, Rethink Mental Illness, and Young Minds, something that is hugely important to me given my own experiences and the line of work I want to go into.
15. NEVER FULLY DRESSED
PRICE POINT: ££
Tumblr media
Similar in their aesthetic to Out of the Ordinary, Never Fully Dressed is big on colour, print, and elegance. They have both specially selected second hand pieces on offer and original designs too and the about us section of their website clearly states how passionate they are about their ethical manufacturing process, which takes place both here in the UK and in China.
16. TUNNEL VISION
PRICE POINT: ££
Tumblr media
Offering the dreamiest, one of a kind vintage 90s pieces, Tunnel Vision could just as easily be a grunge girl band come the craft themed moodboard as it is an online retailer. If the 90s isn’t for you-I mean, I don’t wanna question anybody’s taste levels but…-they also have the option of shopping by era, which I think is a really cool feature I wish a lot of irl vintage shops would incorporate.
17.  LOVE TOO TRUE
PRICE POINT: £
Tumblr media
Everything on Love Too True is fucking gorgeousss and it is no surprise that they manufacture their garments here in London because I feel their brand totally encompasses that stereotypical 90s East End punk vibe perfectly with a shit tonne of chunky boots and show stopping plaid pieces that makes my heart ache for a riot grrrl renaissance. Yes, when it comes to feminism’s place in mainstream culture, making sure the political goals and structural changes we’re aiming for are visible to all is by far the most important, but let’s have a resurgence of the grunge girl’s armour along with that and PLEASE let’s leave athleisure in the 2010s. No more Kardashian nude leggings, I beg (I AM being lighthearted, wear whatever you want! We’re not policing women’s clothes in this neck of the woods).
18. NINE LIVES BAZAAR
PRICE POINT: £££
Tumblr media
Eurgh. Nine Lives Bazaar. I want it ALL. Their clothes give me all the Etro, Zimmerman, Torey Burch, modernised Stevie Nicks vibes on a slightly more realistic budget, though unfortunately for me said budget just isn’t realistic enough. You would think pieces being ethically produced is just a given when it comes to clothes within this price range but that’s not necessarily the case and Nine Lives Bazaar is one of the ones you can trust to actually be considerate of their employees needs when it comes to their approach to business. To anybody who can afford to shop here, I am insanely jealous. The rest of us, for now, can just browse the website n feel the fantasy, channel a Valentina level of delusion and pretend it’s just the import taxes from Australia that’s holding us back from making a purchase.
-DEPOP SHOPS-
1. @HOUSE_OF_EROTIQUE
PRICE POINT: ££
Tumblr media
Everything handmade and latex and form fitting to make you the baddest bitch in the room, I’ve got myself a few pieces from this shop over the past couple of years. Customer service is a bit hit or miss and there’s been times when I’ve had to wait a while for my purchases to get to me but because they’re all one of a kind and custom made to fit, it’s worth it, and when they have messed up they were kind enough to add something to my order for free.
2. @SACREDHAWK
PRICE POINT: ££
Tumblr media
If you picture raiding the wardrobe of a biker gang, snatching the Coachella bound suitcases of the Revolve ambassadors at Palm Springs airport, and then jumbling all those clothes together, that’s probably your best bet at getting an idea of Sacred Hawk’s aesthetic. Formerly an ASOS concession, the brand is now available on Depop and is a collection of the most lavish glam grunge pieces, all vintage or reworked vintage. Some things are a bit on the pricey side but I would say they are all priced fairly considering how unique and ornate a lot of the pieces are, and I reeeeally wanna be able to say I own something from there one day.
3. @IDENTITYPARTY
PRICE POINT: £££
Tumblr media
I struggled with how to categorise this Depop shop in terms of price point because although there are some fairly low-priced pieces, the standouts are the vintage coats which are understandably a lot more expensive-if you want to fully immerse yourself in the Almost Famous Penny Lane fantasy, you’re gonna have to fork out a little bit.
4. @RETRO_RAIL
PRICE POINT: £££
Tumblr media
Retro_rail is of a similar vein to IdentityParty, in that the standout pieces are the vintage coats which are usually upwards of £100-if you’re looking for one-of-a-kind statement outerwear to invest in, I can’t recommend this shop enough. If you’re like me and you’re looking for something more within the £ to ££ price range, Retro Rail is still worth a browse as inspiration for the kind of styles you might wanna try and find elsewhere on Depop.
5. @5THSEASON
PRICE POINT: £
Tumblr media
Most of the quirky vintage pieces you’ll find on offer on this Depop shop are within the £25 to £40 price range and though you’ve got coats similar to those you’ll find on Identity Party and Retro Rail and they are sill slightly more than the tops and trousers and dresses on sale etc., they are more modestly priced than the other 2 listed.
6. @DREAMERSREBELS
PRICE POINT: £££
Tumblr media
Another v pricey one, dreamersrebels specialises in the daintiest, most whimsical 60s style co-ords I’ve ever seen. Handmade upon purchase, which in turn guarantees little textile waste, you can find the kind of pieces you’d expect to see on a 21st century incarnation of Audrey Hepburn, all the soft pastels and timeless, retro silhouettes you could possibly wish for. I mean, wishing is pretty much all I can do rn but anyone with a near minimum wage retail job knows you need something to aspire to, lol. I managed to budget enough to treat myself to a Selkie dress so I’m manifesting that same level of self-discipline to get me a dreamersrebels piece next.
7. @AWKWARDPHASE
PRICE POINT: £
Tumblr media
Very affordable vintage pieces that range from cutesy mid-century style dresses and coats to grungy 90s jackets, perfectly styled and presented too in a way that will have you wanting to order something for yourself to replicate that modern spin on old staples and give them a second life.
8. @EVIEHALLOWS
PRICE POINT: £
Tumblr media
Another Depop shop where the clothes are styled so well, it’ll have you thinking you can make anything from a floral 1950s housewife style cardigan to a lycra jumpsuit look very intentionally on trend.
9. @JAHOOLI
PRICE POINT: £
Tumblr media
There’s also Jahooli, which I will just say ticks all the same boxes as the other two aforementioned stores to avoid repeating myself.
10. @LOVELYANDLOVELESS
PRICE POINT: £
Tumblr media
In terms of price, I would put Lovely and Loveless into the same category as Jahooli, Awkward Phase and Evie Hallows, the difference being that the clothes available are more on the dainty, classically feminine side. People who have a Pinterest board dedicated to the cottagecore or light academia aesthetic (whew, the gen Z is showing), this one’s for you.
11. @CHLOESTJOHN
PRICE POINT: £
Tumblr media
Finally, we have the ChloeStJohn Depop shop and it’s definitely a good one to end on; picture the wardrobe of Carrie Bradshaw if she’d lived in Camden instead of New York in the 90s and hung out with a slightly edgier crew than Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha and there you have it, the vibe of the pieces on offer. Does it belong to a girl who probs lives near Primrose Hill and has access to all the boujiest second hand clothes shops available which she most likely routinely raids to resell on Depop? Potentially, but hopefully not because I am very here for this whole red wine in one hand and a cigarette in another back when people were allowed to smoke inside bars aesthetic. I’m sorry that the gen Z part of me once again jumped out in such an aggressive fashion with that last sentence, but I know you know what I mean.
And that’s everything!
I did wanna close off the post with a reminder of how nuanced a discussion this is-having the time and money to be more conscious about your ethical footprint when you’re buying clothes is in itself a privilege; fashion shouldn’t be an interest reserved for only those who have the means to pay extra or spend time scouring the internet. It’s also important to be aware of the lack of size inclusivity-a lot of the “trendy” sustainable fashion brands tend to not stock anything larger than a size 14 and attempt to deflect attention away from this by categorising clothes as either XS, S, M, or L, which is in itself a bit of a pisstake considering that 12-14 is the average clothing size here for women in the UK, and so in no way large. Shopping from Depop and Ebay is hard too when so many brands fail to understand how to fit a non-straight size body which in turn necessitates trying stuff on before you buy it, something that isn’t possible when you’re shopping second hand. A lot of Depop shops fail to offer returns and even with those who do, chasing up that return can be a time-consuming and generally all round frustrating process.
Basically, when we’re having these kinds of discussions it’s important to consider everyone’s situations and avoid sitting on some kind of high horse. I feel like things have become even more complicated lately- with the recent closure of once popular high street stores such as Topshop and Miss Selfridge, it has got me thinking a lot about just how many people’s income here in the UK is dependent on fast fashion retailers too and their popularity. The job scarcity resulting from these kind of closures, which are often all that is available to a lot of people with the demands of the job market seemingly becoming more and more impossible each day even for those who have been in higher education, is clearly an issue when the kind of support you can expect from the government as someone out of work is so woefully inadequate and likely to become even more so as the conservatives push for further cuts to UC and PIP. The past year has really shown us just how shaky the ground that an intensely capitalist society stands on is and how quickly everything can go tits up when we don’t invest in a safety net for those who are struggling. People seem to have realised more than ever the extent to which those whose jobs we deem “low-skilled” are actually the backbone of society, and yet even here, whilst the situation may not be quite as desperate as it is elsewhere, we still haven’t seen pay rises that reflect that. Turns out all the clapping WAS an empty gesture, who’d have thought it (for fuck’s sake)? Fair wages really are a global issue that starts with paying people enough for them to comfortably live on and in time should lead to a shift in consciousness away from the concept of profit before everything else and towards an equal playing field for everyone, something we should take every opportunity to speak up about and demand from our “leaders”, however shit a job so many of those leaders do. It’s frustrating how the focus on making ethical purchasing choices is so often on the overconsumption of things that women historically are more actively interested in such as clothes and accessories and make up when the reality is that the wealth of every industry titan on this planet, NOT just the ones who dominate the fast fashion sphere, depends on them continuing to get away with exploiting people-we should be looking at how we can show our dissatisfaction in all areas. Maybe I’m perpetuating that with this post, since a lot of the online retailers I mentioned only sell women’s clothing, but that being said, I’m not about to do men’s work for them, lol-they should make the effort, if possible, to research into sustainable clothing alternatives too.
Anyway, that’s the end of this post! If you read to the end, thank you so much! If I’ve made any errors in my research or there are more sustainable clothing brands that I could’ve mentioned, feel free to inbox me them too, and I can add them to this post if Tumblr allows. It’s usually a little bitch when it comes to editing long posts but I’ll try my best:) Again, thanks for reading! And if you are, I hope you are safe and well!

Rambling thoughts/analyses on even more (!) stills (p.ii):
Part 1 here
Tumblr media
11. This is a really fun picture and I’d assume it’s maybe from middle episodes? Instinct is to say its Anthony that they’re looking at bc of the happiness from Lady D, the skeptical look on Mary’s face, and nervous on Kates. Which makes Edwina’s reaction very interesting! She may be in a phase of souring on him (which makes me think it’s not super early). Hopefully she isnt mad at Kate. They could very well be looking at someone else tho! Another thing ppl have noticed is that Kate’s dress is the same fabric as her pap boat dress but the wig and jacket are different. so I don’t think it’s the same scene. In an interview Simone said Kate starts out “wanting to blend into the background” so it makes sense to reuse dresses bc we haven’t seen the same dresses on Edwina. All in all love this still. It’s so funny and their little line up of faces so charming.
Tumblr media
12. Another great still and this one is most mysterious to me of them all! Anthony and Lady D dancing and laughing is so sweet to me also spot little greg in the background. This is a smaller party at Bridgerton house I believe and people have speculated a birthday or maybe (??) an engagement ball. Brazilian fan sources say this is ep 2 but we have no confirmation of that and it doesn’t make much sense to me because why is Anthony smiling so big? What occasion? And what sort of fallout/drama could there be so early on (see maids in the background reading whistledown and the fallout of it in the next still). Also interesting because since I think this is bridgerton house, they aren’t in the country but that’s where middle eps take place? I’d love to know when this one is so hopefully someone finds out soon. Also note the markings on the floor -- I *think* someone said it may have some cultural significance (don’t quote me on that) I don’t remember who said it or what it meant though and I can’t find the tweet. I’m interested to hear if it does have significance, what it is because it’s just interesting to know and it might be an indicator as to what type of event this is. LMK if you know once I open up my asks again! EDIT: It’s prob just paint.
Tumblr media
13. Okay onto the next one from the same event. See the big cake in the background. It’s a celebration of something for sure and they allow kids to be there so birthday seems like a fun idea. In this still they’re clearly dealing with the consequence of whistledown. Mary is worried and Kate is kind of still and concerned and Edwina is...spiteful. Whether she’s mad at Anthony or at Kate or the ton OR on her sister’s behalf is so interesting. Notice we haven’t seen an Anthony/Edwina interaction beyond ep 2 (that scene of them dancing in the teaser is confirmed like the second ball in the show from Charithas q and a). But we also know that Edwina/Anthony dance in the pink ball in episode 4 because we saw bts pic of them rehearsing so this shall be interesting how it plays out. Other things: they all look hot. Love Mary’s hair. Love the color of Kate’s dress. Ed and Kate have matching jewelry.
Okay now quick commentary on some of the posters before back to stills
Tumblr media
14. Love Kate’s dress so much. Peacock feathers and it’s the same scene is as when she’s fanning herself but that doesnt necessarily mean that’s her *actual* pall mall dress? i would say it’s most likely tho.
Tumblr media
15. BY FAR THE MOST INTERESTING POSTER. First off love pens dress it’s the one from episode 7 still (which i suppose can mean anything but it’s interesting they chose that one!) I love the flowers but theyre real sus to me. Does she hang out in the garden and see the bees sting/expose Kathony in whistledown? Am I just overthinking this? Lol.
Tumblr media
16. See Eloise’s dress from ep 7 still. Now that I think on it more I don’t think Pen or El will be present for Pall Mall.
Tumblr media
17. Now I’m only including this because it looks so weird. They do all the actresses so dirty when the mamas (milfs) are the most important in this show. No mary (BOOO!!) and portia looks so out of place. Netflix. Do better.
Tumblr media
18. Last poster bc these are the only ones that interest me. Love the heart wig. Kinda dumb that they’re keeping the pall mall balls in even her still. Also I know she’s not in front of AH here but...they’re not dragging the queen to aubrey hall just so she doesn’t miss out on the drama? That would be fuckin stupid imho. I guess QC feels isolated and also throws herself into gossip but inviting herself to the Bridgerton’s party is maybe a step drastic for her characterization.
Okay back to stills that came out this morning bc honestly the posters are just kinda underwhelming. They don’t inspire many thoughts other than I wish they were more action oriented. like you think ppl are gonna love them and be enticed just because of the mallets? eh. They could’ve done better but s1 posters are bad too. Anyway I don’t wanna talk about the posters beyond this.
Tumblr media
19. Pen and Eloise in Eloise’s room! This room was featured in the Architectural Digest article but it’s unclear whether it’s her aubrey hall room or the one in bridgerton house. Did Daphne give eloise her room at the end of s1? Am I making that up? I cannot be bothered to check myself. My gut is bridgerton house tho bc Pen and El were there in ep 7 and why would they still be hanging around Aubrey hall? This goes back to the big group photo in front of Aubrey hall where my gut said Kathony were married but that didn’t make sense based on their location. Maybe they just spend time at AH in later episodes too? ANyway onto the actual still. Eloise is still wearing her dresses way up to the neck. Pen’s dress is still cute. And their faces--Pen excited el overwhelmed? Is it about the debut or about a guy (would explain the reactions) or something else entirely?
Tumblr media
20. Love that we’ll be getting an awkward dinner party! Kate’s wearing that color again and it’s clearly at Lady D’s house bc she’s head of the table but also the red curtains. Looks like Mary’s family is there which makes me wonder what that relationship is? Is her (I assume) sister supportive? Is the husband kind? Would Lady D even invite them if they aren’t? I love that this almost confirms Mary gets an arc or at least some interesting relationships beyond the main cast to play off of.
Tumblr media
21. Last one. Episode 2x04 Pen looking over the pink ball (shits really gonna go down there isnt it?) I forgot to include this earlier. Oh well. Nothing to say really other than I like the idea of her overlooking everything. It alludes to the looming and seemingly all knowing presence of LW. Dress is fine wig is weird.
I know there’s ones I haven’t analylzed like the theo sharpe one from weeks and weeks ago (nothing to say there) and some bts photos dropped today. I will say there was that Lady D + Mary photo of them in a carriage in the costumes from the big group photo in front of Aubrey Hall. So clearly Lady D and Mary are involved in whatever the Bridgertons are watching in the trailer in some way or coming up on it? Maybe they’re sharing a carriage with Kate and Edwina, maybe not. Maybe Anthony goes down the steps to greet the 4 of them or maybe he’s already with them.
Anyway. This is tiring and i bet more still are still to come or maybe more posters? (No Daph, no solo Kathony, no mary?) They’ve also teased pall mall so much I’m surprised there isn’t a still of that. If we get episode numbers or even titles maybe I’ll do another update.
Good luck to you for reading all this.

Wet Dream
Tumblr media
Pairing: Bucky x Reader (Cheek to Cheek) (but also could prob be read as a stand alone oneshot)
Word Count: 4,326 (omg)
Warnings: SMUT 18+ minors dni pls sorry just wait til ur grown
A/N: yall someone call the horny police on me bc this.... made me blush
MAIN MASTERLIST | CHEEK TO CHEEK MASTERLIST
Bucky hovers above you, panting into your neck. His lower back arches as he pumps in and out of you, his forearms on either side of your head holding himself up. Your arms are gripping his back tightly, your nails making crescent marks on his skin. Your ankles lock around his backside, squeezing tighter and tighter at each of his movements.
How did you end up in this position? You don’t think about it for too long when a wet and warm tongue licks a long stripe up your neck, touching your ear, before teeth give a gentle bite to your lobe.
You don’t even realize you’re making noise. Moans and groans and whimpers are escaping your mouth every second, each one punching Bucky straight in his groin. It makes him go faster, harder, his fists clenching in the sheets beside your head. He continues placing kisses and hard sucks to your neck as he lifts one hand from the bed, forcing his fingers into your mouth for a moment to wet them, before moving lower onto your clit.
You gasp and let out a yelp at the shock of pleasure. He’s so close and smells so good and feels so good, touching and kissing and thrusting and everything all at once is so overwhelming. Your eyes squeeze shut and it all becomes too much, especially with Bucky’s praises and moans in your ear as he can tell - and feel - how close you are.
It never comes, though.
You jolt awake and glance around to gauge your surroundings. Light peeks through the shades and Bucky is snoring soundly next to you. The blanket covers his waist and legs that you know are only clad in boxers, his naked back visible and moving slightly with his breathing. He’s laying on his stomach, arms comfortably resting beneath the pillow that lies under his head, completely unaware of the dream you’ve just had.
The two of you haven’t had sex yet.
It’s been so long since you’ve started dating! But, it’s just never happened. You’ve done virtually everything else with each other, but just never got to the sex part.
Does that bother him? While Bucky has had a complicated relationship with sex, as have you, both due to your pasts with HYDRA and being deprived of such things, Bucky has had a bit more time to reacquaint himself with women and the times. You, not so much.
Who were you supposed to have sex with; practice with? The only person who was ever in your life after HYDRA was Bucky.
After a few minutes of thinking, you realize that you’re completely comfortable and safe with Bucky; he respects you, he loves you, and he shows it all, too. Why haven’t you had sex with him?
Why has he never initiated it himself?
Bucky mumbles in his sleep, slowly waking up and bringing himself out of his dreams and you put your thoughts on pause for a moment.
When his eyes finally squint open and you look at him, all you can see is your dream. The thrusting. The moaning. The sweat. The twisted eyebrows in pleasure. You look away before you die of embarrassment and sit up on the side of the bed.
“Morning, sweetheart. How’d you sleep?” He asks, voice deep and rumbly from lack of use throughout the night.
“Uh - Good. I slept well. What about you?” You ask, still not looking at him. You stretch your limbs out and try to push back the dream to the very back of your mind.
“You okay? Why aren’t you looking at me?” Bucky avoids your question. Even after just waking up is he too observant for his own good.
You let out a breath and turn to look at him, “I’m okay. Just had a weird dream is all. Let’s make breakfast.” You reassure him, not completely lying, and leaning over the bed to share a morning-breath-filled kiss.
He accepts your answer and kisses you a second time, a quick peck, before you walk off to the bathroom to get ready for the day.
He doesn’t accept your behavior for long, though, when you avoid him the entire day. He thinks long and hard about anything he could’ve said or done to make you feel upset or uncomfortable. He thinks back to what you said this morning, how you had a weird dream. Was it that? Was it a nightmare? Did he do something in the dream to make you upset? He’s heard Sam talk about that in the past, how past girlfriends would wake up upset at him for something he did in a dream.
So, how can he fix what dream-him did in your dream, which he knows nothing about?
You’ve successfully avoided Bucky for most of the day. Your body is sore because, for some reason, you decided you’d spend your time avoiding him in the gym all day. You’re sure he’ll come to your room for dinner, though.
You thought avoiding him would help you get over your dream, that you would distract yourself until you forgot about it and it wouldn’t be such a big deal.
But the opposite happened.
It’s all you’ve thought about.
All you’ve thought about is Bucky on top of you, the sound of his breathy moans, the veins popping out of his arm and neck, the positions -
And now you have to face him after avoiding him all day.
You try to pretend like nothing’s different. You shower and change from your gym clothes, Bucky arriving at some point while you were in the bathroom. When you finish, you move to the kitchen and begin preparing some food for the two of you while Bucky showers, hoping the act of cooking will calm your brain for a bit. The two of you eat, the two of you clean up, and it’s when you’re drying the dishes Bucky washes that he brings it up.
“Did I do something?” He asks, not looking up from the sink.
A pang of guilt that you’ve made him think this way all because of your own embarrassment, “No, babe, why would you think that?” You ask him, continuing to dry the plates but looking at him, ignoring the heat that floods your chest and neck.
“We’ve just been really distanced from each other today. I wanted to make sure I didn’t -”
“Why haven’t we had sex yet?” You blurt out, interrupting him.
Bucky pauses his hands on the plate in the sink. He slowly lifts a hand up to turn off the water and sets the plate down before looking at you. He sees your worried expression and is confused that this is what this was all about.
“You’ve been avoiding me all day because we haven’t had sex yet?”
“I’ve been avoiding you because I had a sex dream with you and it was really good and I thought avoiding you would make me feel less embarrassed about it but all it did was make me horny and more embarrassed!” You ramble out.
Bucky takes a second to process what you said before letting out a chuckle that he couldn’t hold back. All of this because the two of you haven’t had sex yet! That’s what the dream was about!
“Don’t laugh at me, Bucky, I’m already embarrassed enough as it is!”
“I’m not laughing at you, doll, I’m just - look. I was just trying to be a gentleman and wait it out a bit before we actually had sex; I wanted to make sure you were comfortable.”
“Wait it out for a year, Buck?”
“Okay, yeah, maybe I waited a little too long, but, I know just the thing I can do to fix it.”
You feel the heat consume your body again as you take in his words and their underlying meaning, unable to make a teasing remark to him back. He wipes his wet hands on a rag and turns to face you completely. He walks closer to you, gently backing you up until your back hits the kitchen counter. In a swift motion, his hands grip at your waist and effortlessly lift you up onto the counter as though you’re light as a feather.
You feel butterflies not only in your stomach but all over your body as his hands lower to your hips and tug you close to the edge. You place your hands on his shoulders, suddenly nervous like you’re a virgin again.
You’ve had sex before, but it’s been a while. A long while.
To rid the nerves, you kiss Bucky; while he’s kind of the source of your anxiety at the moment, he’s also always the one that eases it.
If possible, he pulls you even closer, wrapping his arms completely around you, hands on your back as your own wrap around his neck. You open your mouth to allow his tongue to enter yours, licking and sucking and kissing your mouth.
He kisses your lips over and over again, slipping his tongue into your mouth periodically to tease your own tongue, teeth nipping at your lips as he pulls away. He trails kisses to your ear, sucking your lobe into his mouth for a moment and you’re taken back to your dream, a breathy moan escaping you.
He grips you harder and continues his kisses down your neck, sucking love bites into the crook. A hand trails up and gently pulls down the thin strap of your shirt, letting him plant kisses on the top of your shoulder. You close your eyes and try to contain yourself, cradling his head and scratching your fingers through his hair.
“This okay?” He mumbles into your chest, fingers teasing at the neckline of your shirt.
“Mhmm,” You whimper, encouraging him to keep going.
He pulls a little more to free your breast from your top, and tugging again to free the other one, lips attaching and going back forth to leave kisses everywhere. You shudder as his lips wrap around your nipple, sucking and licking at it gently before switching to the other one.
Your mouth feels dry suddenly. A voice in the back of your head tells you to Do something! Don’t just let him do all the work! Make him feel good too!
But how? You find the strength among his love to reach a hand to touch his belly, trailing down to the drawstring on his joggers, untying the bow. You’ve touched Bucky before, made him feel good with both your hands and your mouth, but it feels like you’re doing it for the first time all over again.
He’s hard in his underwear and you palm him through the fabric under his pants. You hear a rumble come from his throat as his lips kiss back up your neck, pecking you on the lips a few more times before pulling back.
Your hand is still in his pants when he takes his shirt off, moving to take yours off too, your hand being removed for only a moment. He stops you from going back in and instead lifts you up from the counter, hands supporting you under your bum, walking you over to the bed.
He playfully throws you down onto the bed and you bounce, a giggle escaping you as he jumps on top of you, lips attaching to your neck again, but this time his hands find your sides, wiggling his fingers around to tickle you.
“Bucky, stop!” You laugh out, any nerves you had from before vanishing as Bucky reminds you just how much of a goof he is. He continues to tickle you under your arms and around your sides in order to keep enjoying the sound of your giggles.
You reach your arm around and throw a smack on his butt, making him finally stop.
“Did you just spank me?”
“Did you like it?”
He laughs and crawls on top of you again, caging you in between his arms and leaning in to kiss you on the mouth. You don’t notice one of the arms next to your head reach down and land a hard slap on your butt cheek, making you break the kiss and gasp. The slap was quick and the sting lingers a bit, but feels good, like stretching a sore muscle just right.
“You spanked me.” You tell him.
“Did you like it?” He whispers back to you, face still close, repeating your previous words.
You smile at him teasingly before kissing him again, his hand now trailing from your knee up to where he spanked you, rubbing and soothing the sting before trailing back down your thigh. He hooks his hand under your knee and brings it higher and pushes it out, spreading your legs open for him.
He moves down your body, spreading kisses around your chest again, before moving down your belly and to the waistband of your leggings. He pulls them, along with your underwear, down your legs, leaving you only in a pair of mismatched socks.
He removes those, too, starting at your baby-blue-painted toes, planting open-mouthed kisses. To your ankle, up your shin, on your knee, to the inside of your tattooed thigh, and then he switches to the other leg and repeats.
You feel like a fountain with all the teasing and touching and kissing. He hooks his arms around either thigh, hands grabbing your hips, and he pulls you forward a bit, bringing you closer to his mouth while also straightening out your back.
You sigh as he kisses around your lips and the fold where your legs meet your pelvis, so close to where you want him, but still so far away.
Suddenly, he flattens his tongue and gives a long lick from your hole to your clit, mixing his saliva with your juices. You let out a long moan at the feeling of some sort of relief, as he focuses his tongue on your clit, moving his tongue rapidly around the nerves.
He licks and licks and licks, causing you to drip, the mixture of his spit and you slowly slipping down the creases of your folds. It doesn’t drip onto the bed sheet, though, because Bucky pulls away only for a second to lap up the juices, dragging a long stripe from around your lips, over your hole, and back up to your clit again.
He repeats this motions, drawing different letters, numbers and shapes around your pussy, making sure to add as much spit as he can to make you as wet as possible. He sucks softly at your clit to tease before going back to fast licks.
You’re not sure if it’s from all the build-up of tonight or the thoughts about your dream, but you already feel yourself growing close, your hole clenching around nothing. Bucky senses this, giving you something to clench around, as he puckers his lips to let some saliva pool at your opening, letting it drool out of his mouth before gathering at your entrance, before slowly pushing a metal finger inside. He then continues his licking from before and pairs it with the gentle pumping of his finger.
The combination becomes too much for you in that moment, and you let go, unable to hold it in. Your thighs shiver and close a bit around his head as your orgasm finally floods through you. You tangle your fingers in his hair, pulling on it as he doesn’t let up on his movements at all, carrying you through your pleasure and fueled by your moans.
“Mmm, Bucky,” You moan out, wanting to call his attention to you, but he takes you moaning his name as a moan of pleasure, and adds a second finger to your heat, gently sucking on your clit.
You gasp harshly, too sensitive for his mouth, and grip his hair and tug hard. He groans deeply into you before following your lead and meeting you face to face. Now that you see him closer, his face is drenched in you. He licks his lips while looking into your eyes, his pupils dilated beyond belief. After a pause from being yanked up, he continues the pumping of his fingers inside you, thrusting them just a little deeper each time, curving them in an upwards motion.
“Wanna feel you,” You mumble out, reaching down into his pants and taking him in your hand, already at the point of being unable to form complete sentences.
His eyes close a bit as you continue to pump him, using the pre-cum that’s leaked out to spread along his length. He pulls his slick fingers out and moves them to rub over your clit. You speed up, running your thumb over the head periodically, and Bucky bites down on his lip, seemingly trying not to blow his load so early.
He grabs your hand, stopping your movements and his own, and sits back to pull off his own joggers and boxers, not missing the wet spot on the latter. He returns to his kneeling position and leans back to grab a hold of your legs. He takes a moment for himself to just stare and take you in. Laid out naked before him, panting, sweating, your juices leaking out of your hole after he’s just made you cum, eyes staring at him like he’s just given you the world. He looks at you like you’re the most beautiful thing he’s ever seen - and you are.
Trusting him with this and letting him see you and touch you while you’re so vulnerable is a gift.
He smiles down at you and reaches for his bag he brought in earlier with all of his stuff, looking for a condom he knows - or hopes - he has in there.
He thanks every God he can think of when he finds it quickly and tears it open before rolling it on himself.
“Are you okay? Are you ready?” He asks you sweetly, despite the filth going through his mind staring at your naked body.
You nod, smiling up at him, “I’m okay, I’m ready.” You tell him.
“Goody.” He tells you, with a smile on his face. He won’t lie, he’s excited like he’s a virgin in the 30’s all over again, getting lucky enough to get his rocks off with the prettiest girl he’s ever seen.
He lines himself up and rubs himself up and down through your juices, nudging your clit each time he moves up, making you squirm.
He holds his dick at the base and slowly pushes, watching you stretch around him. His jaw drops as you engulf him, your humming filling the room. Your eyebrows twist together at the  slight sting of the stretch, but it quickly eases and is replaced with pleasure.
Once he’s completely inside you, he leans forward, kissing you softly and resting on his forearms. As filthy as his thoughts were a minute ago, this isn't just some fuck. You’re his girlfriend of over a year now and you’re trusting him with the job of pleasuring you, of loving you. Finally experiencing this feeling with you, all he wants is to be as close as possible to you, to kiss you, to hold you. So he does.
Keeping you caged in, he keeps his lips close to yours as he begins thrusting in and out of you. You two are breathing the same breath from how close you are and you can’t look away from each other's eyes. He gradually picks up the speed, pulling out a little more each time before pumping back in.
You feel so good. Warm and wet and tight, and just the fact that it’s you makes everything feel even better.
The harder and faster he goes, the tighter you hold onto him, both with your hands and feet. He feels the sting in his back from where your nails dig in and he can feel your ankles locked against his lower back and bum.
His own moans escape his mouth. He’s not usually loud in bed, but all of this feels so good, so much like nothing he’s ever felt before during sex.
All you feel is Bucky. Everywhere; against your lips, inside you, beneath your ankles, against his chest. You never knew sex was so good. It was fun, the times you’d had it as a teenager and occasionally in the Marines, but it never felt anything like this. Is it because Bucky’s just really experienced? Is it just because it’s Bucky?
He brings his knees a little higher on the bed, forcing your bum to angle a bit higher from how your legs are locked around him. He pounds into you a little harder than before, now, hitting completely different spots, and a loud moan escapes you before you can hold it in.
You really don’t want that reputation in the tower, but you really can’t hold it in. Moan after moan escapes you, growing in volume as much as you try to contain it.
As much love is going into this, Bucky is fucking you, hard. You’re so consumed by how good it all feels that you don’t even hear yourself begging in between moans and whimpers.
“Please, please, please…” You gasp, lips brushing against his from how close he is.
“Please, what, baby?” Bucky breathes back.
“Touch me.” You manage out.
He changes position a bit, this time scooping your legs into where his elbow folds, hitting you impossibly deep. Your hands immediately move from his shoulders to his forearms, a yelp coming from your mouth in shock at the new angle.
The slapping sounds of skin on skin fill the room as he pulls almost completely out before pushing back in. Yelps escape you as you try your hardest not to scream, eyes screwing shut.
“Ahhhhh, Bucky,” You moan loudly, the pressure building in your abdomen.
“You close, baby?”
“Mmm, yes, please, please make me cum,” You beg once more. You’ll never let yourself live down the begging thing.
Bucky’s eyebrows scrunch together and he lets out a soft moan. Seems that the begging thing does something for him, too. He releases one of your legs in order to move to rub your clit. He licks at his fingers, a string of saliva following, and moves to touch you softly. He moves fast, but doesn’t rub too hard.
Your mouth drops open in a silent scream as you finally cum, feeling both the relief from the built up tension and the dream from last night. Bucky doesn’t stop as you’re cumming, wanting your pleasure to last as long as possible. You groan loudly as he just keeps going, the overstimulation making your legs shake, gripping onto his wrist, but not exactly pushing it away from your clit.
“I’m so close, baby.” He chokes before not being to hold back anymore and stuttering, cumming into the condom inside you. He lets out a long moan and shivers himself, finally removing his hand from your body to hold himself up on both arms, veins bulging out in the right one.
Once he catches his breath, he slowly pulls out of you, the empty feeling making you both whimper. He doesn’t move to take off the condom, though, and instead moves lower on the bed, hooking your thighs on top of his shoulders again.
“Bucky -” You try to stop him, surprised that he was planning on going down on you again after already doing so and making you cum.
“I know you had another one in you, doll, just make me happy and let me get another taste.” He teases, voice a lot deeper after his own orgasm.
You don’t have time to protest before he dives in again, licking and sucking at your pussy, not wasting any time in trying to get to you cum again.
“Oh, fuck,” You whimper, legs still shaking from the last orgasm, knowing it won’t take long for you to cum a third time. He grips your thighs tightly in his large hands, holding you close to his face. Wet sounds fill the room now as his mouth devours you, lapping and sucking at everything you give him, even moaning at your taste.
You can’t help but cum at the feeling, if not the feeling of Bucky moaning and whimpering while eating you because he wants to taste and feel you cum in his mouth, then the feeling of knowing Bucky’s main goal tonight is just to completely and utterly pleasure you in every sense of the word.
You hear a slurping sound as you gush a bit and Bucky takes it all in, continuing to lick until you have to push his head away, really not being able to take it anymore.
“Holy fuck,” You sigh out, exhausted, not even noticing the goofy smile on your boyfriend’s face, smiling at the fact that you physically had to push him away from eating you out too good.
Bucky finally removes himself completely from your body, standing to remove and throw out the condom and also bring a wet towel to clean you up a bit.
“Did that satisfy you, angel?” He teases, wiping in between your legs and cleaning the sweat from your legs and chest.
“I don’t know, I might have to sleep on it.” You pant, still trying to catch your breath, looking up at him to see his face still drenched in your juices.
“I’m more than happy to help you figure it out in the morning, then.”
He wipes himself off and  finally tosses the towel into your laundry bin and gets in bed with you, the two of you still above the covers because it’s still just a bit too hot to get cozy.
“I love you.” Bucky tells you, turning his head to the side to look at you.
“I love you, too.” You respond, wrapping your arms around his left one and bringing your body close to his, despite the heat in the room.
He kisses your forehead sweetly before kissing you on the lips, brushing his nose against yours afterwards.
Thank God you had that dream.

Beatle tag (cause why not ✌💗)
I’m new to this fandom online, so what best way to present myself but doing this (plz don't kill me guys I come in peace).
But I do have to give an special to @sgt-revolver cause thanks to their post I decided to do it.
How long have you been a fan ?: About two years if I’m not wrong, but god it has been two intense ones. Long story short, this band never was part of my life (grew up in a different culture) until the day I was reading some fanfiction in AO3 and stumbled across one about them. I then found out they were the guys behind “Let it be” and “Here comes the sun” so I decided do dig even deeper..... (Now I’m here simping and crying to their music at 2am) 🙃
Favorite Beatle: Used to be Paul (man got a charm) but when I better discovered George as a hole human being, and not only a Beatle, I went 💥. Tho, sometimes I do get frustrated with him and stay on John’s side cause he was lowkey relatable and a big bi-disaster mood. (I suddenly feel bad for Rings.... srry bro )
Favorite era for music: At the beginning I didn't like the mop top era and practically only listened from Help! to then end, but now I appreciate each period as a part of the band’s musical history and can’t help to fangirl to most songs. (Tho I’ll always have a soft spot for 1966)
Favorite era for lewks: Each Beatles had its own I think. Ringo as a teddy boy (he looks like the bad boy of your dreams), George in 65` (longer hair but not to long and just overlay hotness) and Paul/John in 66`. (The perfect balance between early and late looks)
Favorite song: Guess it depends on my mood, but it’s surely a tight between “Strawberry fields forever”, “Happiness is a warm gun”, “Lovely Rita” “While my guitar gently weeps”, “Don't bother me” and “Across the universe”. (This is such an unfair question xd)
Favorite album: Honestly I just can’t decide.. Its prob either “The Beatles (aka white album)”, “With the Beatles” or “Revolver”
Unpopular/Controversial Beatles opinion: “Revolution 9″ is not an unlistenable song and has an actual artistic value. I mean, I don’t think is a song meant to be listened during a car ride, but I do think it encapsulates pretty well the chaotic and changing vibe of the late 60s. This song makes you feel unwell because it’s meant to. Despite that, I do believe it should not have been included on the album, but rather as a John/Yoko project. (Ik Geo had a input though)
A song everyone loves but you dislike: Never was the biggest fan of “Come together” or “With a little help from my friends”. They are not necessarily bad, but rather average for me
A song everyone dislikes but you love: “Run for your life”... I know the lyrics are quite nasty but its so catchy and I love George’s guitar in it. I also really like “Dizzy Miss Lizzy”, but I don’t know if it really is that unpopular among people
Your fantasy involving The Beatles: The PG one or the ??..
JK, but I would have love to meet them during their cavern/casbah days. Like about 1961, just to chat with them about rock n roll and even jam some songs. (Even if I’m not sure that I would love to do that as a girl or a guy). And I sincerely wish I could just have some deep conversations with George and John while we share a joint . I just wish I could have known them better...
Tell us about the moment you knew you were a fan: When returning home after a long school day I decided to look after some live material (At the time I only knew like 4 songs). I put YouTube on my tv, and found “She loves you” . I was not the same girl after watching that video. If I could explain how I suddenly felt so much joy and excitement looking at them that I even started singing and dancing. The rest is history 😉
Did you ever have a genuine ‘The Beatles suck !’ phase before becoming a fan?: Because their music was not around me 24/7 growing up, I never got fed up with their music. For me almost everything was new and interesting, so I never had a hater phase
Favorite Beatle’s book: Have not read any for the moment, but I’m dying to buy Cynthia’s and May’s books. (Also the autobiography “I me mine” by George)
Thoughts on the old generation of fans: Even if the few experiences I’ve had with them have not been good, I know most of them are chill people. I also love some podcasts made by first or second gen fans. The only thing that I dislike, is the average boomer who will claim they know more than you cause they were alive at the time, even if the only song they know its “Hey Jude” . (Or those who treat John as a saint, and blame the hole break-up on Paul... smh)
If Hollywood were to make a high budget Beatles biopic, what is one thing you desperately hope they include?: I wish they wont do it (We already got enough movies), but if they do something, it would be better if it was a series and not a film. If it had to happen, they better not forget how young the guys really were and how they were actual people. I know they were ground-breaking in so many ways, but they were also human beings with many defaults and even a bit naïve in some aspects. If you only give me a wife-beater (nasty) John, delicate flower Paul, silent George and dumb Ringo, the cartoon series has done a better job than you.
Do you read/write fanfic: One word.... Yes... *Hides her unfinished drafts*
Are you the only one in your family/friend group to enjoy them?: Sadly yes. I have to force my dad to play some Beatle music while driving cause most of the music he plays is raegetton, and even if I’m proud of my Latino roots.. I’ll do salsa or merengue anytime but not some Bad Bunny ok.
Are you a shipper?:  Yup
Favorite movie starring/made by them?: Help!.. I mean I also love AHDN, but it’s just so funny to see them run around being high af as they play music despite Ringo being in mortal danger. (Also the visuals we get each song just give me such a MTV vibe. Its genuinely beautiful)
Do you believe in McLennon?: *smirks at the camera*
General opinions on McLennon?: Oh boy. The Lennon/McCartney relationship is one that seems out of my grandma telenovelas. From Paris to the breakup, their story is one of up and downs, but they never really stopped loving each other. Not even death could stop their link as Paul still dreams of him and thinks about John when composing songs. I understand that not everyone may be convinced that something really happened, but I think we all should be open to the possibility.
If you got to change ONE thing about their history, what would be and why?: Brian’s death. The beginning of the end was the moment he passed away. With Brian the band would still have broke up (All things must pass, even the good ones), but it would have been less messed up. No Paul trying to take the lead a bit too much, Apple Corps probably being better handled and no Allen Klein messing up everything. (And probably no Yoko in the studio but that may be a bit of a stretch)
What song has the best vocals?: As a group, “Because” it’s probably the one. Such a simple, yet perfectly well put vocals. The peak of their talent for harmonizing in my opinion. In another side “Oh Darling!” is prob Paul best and John’s voice in “This Boy” always get me
What song do you feel had no effort put into it?: Prob an unpopular opinion but “Eight Days a Week” is such a basic song. It’s not innovative, it just uses the formula, and I feel like around this time the guys were kind of tired and just fabricated the song to be a single. It simply not feels genuine, and for me it shows the biggest problem from the “Beatles for Sale” era.
What is a well talked moment in Beatles history you genuinely believe to be false?: The way Yoko met John. The most known story is that they met each other at a Yoko art gallery, but many sources (such a Cynthia or Brian personal assistant) tell us a complete different truth. I do believe she knew the band, stalked John and force herself into his life, despite of the romantic tale she keeps repeating.
What is something you KNOW to be true, but often gets erased in their history: John. So many things about John. Many see him as only a funny character and ignore so many cues that he was a man struggling with his own self esteem to the point of having eating disorders. Not forgetting his fluid sexuality, the fact that many think that as house husband all his problems went away or that he was a wife beater. John was more than the “Imagine” martyr or  monster so many people (even some fans) make out of him.
Least favorite look from a Beatle(s): Ringo in the Help! movie. Horrible mushroom hair 😂
Favorite look from a Beatle(s):  George Harrison in the “Hey Bulldog”/”Lady Madonna” videoclip. (I also want that cherry SG Standard so bad omg)
I really don’t know how many others have done it but here are my tags
@rocknroll-imagines @moreofthatdrowse @cultofbeatle @joan-deserved-the-silver-hammer
Thanks a lot guys !! ❤✌🥦🐘🎵😎

Wet Dog (Sirius Black x Reader)
Request:Heyy! I was wondering if you could do a Sirius x fem!reader version of Whoolly Jumper. Maybe where reader is in Gryffindor and her and Sirius don't really get along but then while she's smelling the potion she smells campfire, leather and when she says wet dog, the guys all look at Sirius in shock.
Warning: Cussing, my writing, injury etc
Author's Note: This is probs shit, never written a Sirius imagine but here you go :)
"Watch out, (Y/L/N)."
(Y/N) stumbles to the side as Sirius Black strides ahead of her into the potions classroom, followed swiftly by his apologetic friends. She can only roll her eyes as she follows, giving Remus Lupin an exasperated look as he pats her shoulder sympathetically. She’s already preparing herself for a long afternoon.
"Don't you look ravishing today, (Y/L/N)." Sirius mocks as she takes her seat in beside him. "Bed head and all."
"What can I say, Black.” She smiles mockingly sweetly. “ I got my inspiration from you."
Watching his smirk fall is one of the most gratifying things (Y/N) is sure she’s capable of. As school player and obnoxious prick, a title given to him by the girl herself, Sirius Black is not someone (Y/N) has ever found herself get along with.
A prank gone wrong in their earlier school years, leaving her the undeserving victim of some nasty boils, destined them to a life as enemies, who’s day’s revolve around their petty banter and scathing remarks.
“Of course you did.” Sirius recovers. “I am dashingly handsome.”
“Whatever you need to tell yourself.”
Sirius goes to reply despite Remus’ warning nudge to his side when Slughorn begins to explain the lesson, approaching the cauldron in front of the class as it bubbles above the flame, letting off a pinkish steam.
“Amortentia.” He begins with a smile. “Can anyone tell me what it is?”
“A love potion, Sir.” (Y/N)’s replies with a raised hand.
“That’s right, Miss (Y/L/N).” Slughorn beams. “Well done.”
“Show off.” “Sirius coughs.
“Not my fault that you’re feeling threatened.”
Remus long sigh is loud enough to have them both temporarily sheepish as Slughorn continues to explain the lesson, either ignoring or obvious to the way Sirius and (Y/N) have begun to bicker the minute Remus’ disappointed look faded.
Only once the class has dispersed to take turn at smelling the infamous potion do they let up, separating with mirrored glares to different cauldrons let bubbling across the room.
Her sour mood is soon overshadowed by the same buzz as everyone else. Amortentia’s unique smell makes it a fascinating potion, and like most, (Y/N) can’t deny her excitement at getting to decipher what it smells like to her, or rather, who.
"Well, (Y/N)?" James Potter nudges her side once together at the front of the short queue. “What do you smell?”
“Give me a chance, boys.” She chuckles.
Remus has the decency to look apologetic, though his eyes carry curious glint to them much like James’. Giving him a knowing look, she turns with a small laugh to lean forward over the bubbling cauldron, inhaling deeply, and expectantly.
It takes a moment for them to hit her, to diffuse into separate, identifiable scents rather than the initial confusion that causes her nose to scrunch. Behind her, James and Remus exchange a curious glance, finally a glimpse into their mysterious friend.
“Campfire.” She confesses first. “Leather and... wet dog?”
She pulls back with a grimace, a disgusted look twisting at her expression. Behind her, James’ jaw has slackened and Remus’ brows have pulled into a confused frown that has concern prickling at her skin.
“What?”
"Did you say wet dog?" Remus asks.
"Yeah.” She grimaces. “Do we know anyone with a dog?”
"No!" James interrupts.
His eyes betray him though, already staring across the room towards Sirius. She follows his gaze with a questioning frown. She’s about to question Siriu’s relevance when she spots Lily beside him, smirk finding her cheeks quickly.
“I suppose you smelt Lilies?”
“Ha- yeah.” James laughs, almost mechanically. “Yeah.”
“Hm.” She grins. “How did I guess.”
“I wonder.” Remus joins. “Not like he talks about her all them time.”
“Of course not.”
Their worried looks still hold though, eyes darting between each other warily. She tries to dismiss it though, weird behavior isn’t uncommon amongst the infamous Marauders.
She focusses her thoughts instead on who on earth might smell of wet dog.
.
She’s not sure what she expects, walking into he empty hospital wing in the dead hours of the morning, but Sirius Black certainly wasn’t even a consideration. She peers down once again at the parchment clutched in her hands and inhales sharply as the pieces come together.
She’d been reading in the common room as is her usual weekend tradition, forgetting time and not sleeping until the sun is creeping in the windows, when a scrunched ball of parchment has appeared from thin air and fallen into her lap. On it, an almost illegibly scrawled out request for her to come to the hospital wing, ASAP.
"Sorry." Sirius sighs. "I didn't know who else to message and I knew you'd be up..."
"It's fine. “ (Y/N) assures. “What’s wrong? Is Remus okay?”.
Sirius’s brows pique before he’s grimacing again at the movement, cracking the slow healing gash on his forehead. Moving closer at the sound of his hissed breath, her own breathing halts for a second as she catches the real issue in the light of one of the dim candles.
He’s grasping at his side with one hand, the other clutching at the table he’s sat on.  Through his torn short, she can see the crimson stain of blood seeping through the fabric and coating his fingers. She can see him grinding his teeth in pain, breathing in sharply before forcing out a question.
"You know?" He asks. “About Remus?”
“Yes- what happened?”
“How?”
“He’s a friend.” She explains quickly. “I figured it out- what happened to you?”
“He’s fine, but he got me pretty bad.”
He’s so flippant about it, as if it’s happened a million times before and he doesn’t care, but (Y/N) face freezes in disbelief. Her next question bursts out so loud she’s grateful for once that Madam Pomfrey isn’t here.
"You were out with him?”
"You said you knew!"
"That Remus is a werewolf.” She exclaims. “Not that you were out there with him- do you know how unsafe that is?”
His chuckle at her reaction is short lives as it sends a ripple of pain through his side and has him hunching over with a chocked out groan. She’s coming forward instantly. steadying him upright again.
"Merlin." She exhales " Take your shirt off, Black."
His lips twitch into a smirk.
"Awfully bold tonight, aren't we, (Y/L/N)?"
"Sirius, you are bleeding.” She warns sternly. “Don’t tease me right now.”
He nods, grunting as he peels his shirt off, revealing the source of all the blood, a jagged gash running down his side, the skin around it dotted with deep red bruises, not yet given the time to turn that signature purple colour.
She’s quick to riffle through a few cupboards for a healing kit, grabbing some sterilising alcohol and a cloth, soaking it silently as he watches on, a mixture of mesmerised and concerned.
"Um, this is going to sting.” She warns, blowing some strands of hair from her face frantically. “Like a lot.”
“I’m a big boy.” He assures.
“Fine.” She says. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
His body jolts the minute she touches him, breathed hissed through his teeth as he grasps for soemthing to hold onto. She reaches out for his hand with her free one, clasping it in her own and squeezing reassuring. He meets her eyes at the feeling, taken aback by the way their hands fit so perfectly together. She gets lost there for a second, in their little moment.
“There.” She clears her throat after a moment. “I did warn you.”
She pulls away to go for the bandages, the absence of her hand in his causing a sinking feeling in his chest he’s never felt before. He can tell she’s avoiding his eyes as she begins to bandage his wounds.
“Thanks.” He says. “For doing this.”
“You’re an idiot.” She mumbles, moving away to inspect her handiwork. “I hope you know that.”
"Noted.”
"Care to explain how it happened though?"
He contemplates it for only a moment, realising how contradictory it would be to lie after what she’s seen, what she’s healed for him. His body slumps slowly with a sigh.
“Remus is our friend.” He starts. “We couldn’t let him go out there alone, so we- me, James and Peter- became animagi to help him out every full moon.”
“Because he isn’t bothered by other animals...” She exhales upon realisation. “That’s really clever.”
Her frown eases, the harshness of her voice disintegrating with the newfound respect that warms her chest. She steps forward again, looking up at him sheepishly.
“You’re not that much of an idiot.”
“I don’t know.” He jokes. “I lost control of my animal form and startled Moony.”
“Still.” She assures. “It’s very admiral of you to do that for a friend.”
“No one deserves to go through what he does.” Sirius shrugs. “If I can help even a little, it’s my job to do so.”
She finds herself smiling at this new side of Sirius Black, a side that’s sweet, gentle. She shakes her head in disbelief as she runs a hand down his bandaged side, gently.
“What’s you’re animagus?” She asks friendlily. “Please tell me its a chicken.”
“Ha, you wish.” He holds his side a she laughs. “I’ll have you know, I’m man’s best friend.”
“Huh?”
“A dog.” He explains with a soft smile. “Big scruffy looking thing.”
She stills her hand on his torso, barely noticing how it’s wandered across his skin, resting on his shoulder before she pulls it back. He begins to frown at her slackened jaw and wide eyes.
"Oh my god."
"What is it?"
"Wet dog!"
He blinks at her, standing with a frown, groaning as he pushes himself from the table to glare at her.
"Well that's just rude."
"No, in the amortentia.” She exclaims, fingers curling in her hair in frustration. “Leather and wet dog.”
“(Y//N)-”
"Fuck sake, that was you?” She rambles. “Are you serious?"
"Last time I checked that was my name, yes."
"Fuck off, Sirius." She snaps. "I can't believe I like you of all people."
It’s like it all comes down at once, the reality of the night, no longer clouded by each warm touch and lingering gaze. Sirius Black is a player, an obnoxious prick and the subject of an affection she was sure she’d never feel for him.
She goes to turn away with a scoff and a disappointed feeling in the pit of her stomach when, behind her, Sirius lets out a sigh and his hands are tugging her back by her waist, twisting her around until she’s stumbling into his chest. He holds her gaze, eyes full of questions as their lips are frozen millimeters apart.
She finds herself nodding, reading him perfectly enough to know what he’s asking. Then, their lips are clashing in a kiss, their bodies stumbling backwards until hers hits the wall behind her. It’s all so rushed, finger curled in hair and heavy breaths.
She has to force herself to pull back, his lips chasing hers as she gently forces him back and with a pant. His fingers are still curled around her waist, but his eyes are as wide as hers.
“What- what just happened?”
“I’m pretty sure we just made out.” He admits. “And it was pretty fucking good.”
“No, no we can’t start doing that.” She decides. “I’m supposed to hate you.”
“Why!?” He bursts. “You can’t seriously be mad at me for something I did when I was fourteen.”
“I had boils for days.” She hisses.
“I was fourteen!” He retorts. “Merlin, (Y/N), I can’t believe I like someone who holds such a grudge.”
She freezes, breath catching nervously in her throat as she looks up at him again.
"What did you smell in the potion?”
"Old books and flowery shampoo." He admits. "Your  shampoo."
"How do you know what my shampoo smells like?"
His blush is something she’s never seen before. It creeps up his neck and reaches the top of his ears instantly. A bit of her she’s no longer able to ignore observes how sweet it is, cute even.
"I notice things..."He mumbles. "I'm very observant."
"Well your smells were all nice smells.” She argues. “Wet dog... why did it have to be you.”
He's smirking again, a smirk that she’s always dying to wipe off his face, but never before has she wanted to do so by kissing him, never before has it been so infuriatingly attractive... although perhaps it has, perhaps all that hatred has been hiding something else.
"Can kiss you again?"
She doesn’t recall nodding until they’re kissing again, his hands moving from her waist to cup her cheeks, his hands warm on her skin as they were in her hand. His lips are gentle, so much more so that she’s ever imagined and she knows they’re something she’ll never be able to live without again.
"I'm sorry I pranked you when I fourteen." He apologises. “I didn’t know how else to get your attention.”
“You thought boils were the way to go?”
“I know right.” He grins. “Apparently all I needed to do was get my self badly injured.”
“Oh shut up.”
“You like me though. “ He teases.
“Yeah.” She sighs, pulling him in again. “I do...”

Making Acoustic Treatment
Sound likes to reflect around whatever space it's in. It's main mission is to transfer around the space. In an amphitheatre this is ideal and allows for natural amplification of the source. However, whether you're in a recording studio, edit suite or dubbing stage, it's really important to control the sound otherwise your audio mix will never translate properly to the listener, whether in their lounge, car or especially a cinema!
Yes, egg boxes on the walls have remained in our consciousness, it's often said jokingly, but I have met more than a couple of people who would classify this as a real option - while it can offer some help, this is not going to be an effective solution. This is where it gets a little more complicated... Humans hear a range of frequencies (or pitches) from really low rumble at 20Hz to the almost (and genuinely for over 12's!) Imperceptible 20,000Hz. Dealing with high frequencies is relatively easy, a lightweight cotton material will help with echoes (as will egg boxes dare I say), but the low mids and low frequencies are a lot harder to deal with. There is one thing that is key here - Mass/Density. The more dense an absorptive material is the better it will be able to trap lower frequencies. So, with that little bit of context, let's get on with the build.
You don't need any specialist tools or expensive materials to make these, just some patience!
Tools List - Tools:
Power Drill
Saw
Staple Gun
3mm Wood Drill Bit
Sandpaper
Iron
PPE - Gloves, Mask, Goggles (Fiberglass)
Materials List - Materials:
Wood planks for the frames
Rockwool Insulation (more on this below)
Hessian/Acoustically transparent covering fabric
Wood screws - Different lengths
Hanging brackets
Rookwool/Insulation
One of the first things you are going to need to decide is how thick the absorbers are going to be - this relates directly to the ability to absorb low frequencies, so the bigger the better generally. I went for 75mm thick RW60 Rockwool, RW60 is dense in Rockwool's range so it should be ideal, I'd of gone heavier if not for the extra cost.  Other insulation can be fine, but try and get the most dense you can. It can be useful to look at the absorption co-efficient diagram for the material you are going to use, this will give you an idea of how much of a frequency band is absorbed (the scale is from 0 - 1. 1 is 100% absorption & 0 is 0%). Below you can see the chart:
Tumblr media
Absorption co-efficient for Rockwool types
So for our RW60, it absorbs approx 95% of the 250Hz frequency, not bad at all. But notice how the efficiency dramatically improves when it is mounted 300mm off the wall - this where we can really save some money! I mounted all of mine 100mm off the wall, as 300mm was far too intrusive, but if you have a bigger room it may be worth going all the way to 300mm. But as a rule, the larger the room, the less problems there will be with low frequencies anyway. In summary - we are mounting 75mm RW60 Rockwool 100mm off the wall.
Building the Frames
To keep cutting of the Rockwool down to a minimum (to reduce horrible fibreglass particles and save time) I opted to build the frames around the existing sheet size, which is 1200 x 600mm. I wanted a tight fit to avoid having to fix them in the frame, so I made the external size of the frames 1220mm x 610mm. I used softwood for lightness - my timber was 22mm wide and 75mm deep to match the Rockwool. To reduce cutting time I got the timber yard to cut the timbre to 1220mm lengths, so I just needed to cut them in half to make the end pieces. I made 12 of these in total and therefore had 36 lengths - at my local yard it was only 78p a meter!
Tumblr media
Start by cutting the lengths ready to construct the frames. I held these in place when assembling with a nail in each corner to hold it ready for screwing together. I drilled a 3mm pilot hole for the screws, which was fine for the 4mm thick screws, I'd have used a 2.5mm drill bit if I had one, but the 3mm worked fine.
Tumblr media
Once assembled, I removed any roughness from the outside of the frames with 120grit sandpaper so that the fabric might catch on, I left the inside rough to help keep the Rockwool in place. That's the hard bit over.
Covering with Fabric
When choosing fabric to cover the frames and insulation, use something that sound can pass through otherwise they won't work! I found it quite expensive to buy speaker cloth, as I needed nearly 17 meters! So I found dyed jute/hessian fabric instead, it's also great as it's available in a range of colours - I used orange as it's my company's house colour. It comes in 1 meter wide lengths, which is ideal for covering our 610mm wide panels. When working out how much you need, make sure your account for the depth of the wood as you'll need to staple it to the back of the frames. So for our frames, I worked out that each frame requires at least 1400mm (1220mm frame + 2x75mm end depth + 50mm for safety/stapling). I got mine from eBay.
When it came to the fitment on the frame, there were a couple of important points - keep the fabric parallel with the frame, as the hessian I used had clear lines and would look wonky otherwise. Also keep the fabric tight at all times - I found it useful to a) get help from the Mrs. when she was around or b) keep the edges between my feet and work from one end to the other. I found it best to start at the longest ends first and then do the sides.
Tumblr media
The most difficult part here was folding the edges over so they looked neat, when I started it took a few goes, but it became second nature after a while (small caveat from experience - avoid trying this after a pub visit!). I ended up using a lot of staples - probably at least 40 in each panel, but this was necessary to keep it from creasing or sagging at the edges. I got 1000 staples for £5 so no probs there!
Finally, I just pressure fit the Rockwool (use gloves if I were you, the fibreglass is super itchy and irritating).
I also used an iron with lots of steam over the front and sides of the panel, as I found that there were creases from shipping that were still visible even after stretching. It also helped reduce any fuzzy bits from the fabric.
Hanging/Fitment
This is the part that I had to plan/fiddle/replan the most. I originally was going to screw them onto a frame 100mm from the wall, but then realised there was no way that I would be able to get the screwdriver around the back to actually fit them. So I decided to hang them and re-purpose some old brackets I had.
I'd advise to drill the pilot holes for the bracket/fixings when you make the frames, otherwise you'll have to take the Rockwool out and risk tearing the fabric.
Then it's just a case of cutting a slot in the top of the mounting wood on the wall - this will allow the metal mounting bracket to slot into cut and hang away from the wall. I then added some staples to keep the wood from splitting (just in case). All that is left to do is put the Rockwool in the frames and then iron the fabric and then hang them!
Share your pictures of your build and let me know how you get on in the comments!

CQ CQ CQ adding onto Fuzzy's ask- If a hat is cut or ripped, does that show up as cracks or cuts on the magicians skin?? Likewise, if the hat is a bit burned- Around the edges for example- Would that show up as burns on the magician?? Or something else?? Ty!!
Hey no probs! Actually this one I’ll answer publicly. So hands/wands, when damaged will sever you (you know, that crazy thing Cake Girl went through) but with Hats its slightly different. See, you only get a single hat, but you can alter the fabric to change its look (That’s why Harold/Wallis have both had different designs in the past and switch back and forth) but- when you gain your hat, its no longer just fabric. It has magical energy in it, and as a defense mechanism, its VERY difficult to burn or cut. For example, you can’t exactly just- cut a hat with scissors. Its like trying to cut gems with scissors, it just wont happen!Hats might be flexible, but breaking is nigh impossible unless from an interior source (AKA using too much magic that you can’t handle)So if, for example, your hat was in a huge fire, it should be alright. Outer fabric might get singed, but the integrity of the hat will be okay, and the person its connected to will not be damaged. You just get it fixed up from a tailor! This is different though, then it falling into lava, or getting struck by lightning, or something like that. There is so much intense heat and power in those two things, that it could destroy a hat regardless. Both the hat and wand are very difficult to break, but hats are harder to break then wands..... but. There are ways you can do it.
