We rescued this gorgeous bunny a few days ago. Before posting our usual rescue announcement, we thought it was important to share this post that bunny’s foster mom wrote the day she picked her up from the shelter. We couldn’t have said it better ourselves. #repost @kitbevan This beautiful bunny was rescued today. She is perfect, but her owners decided they didn't want to keep her, and it seems no one wanted to adopt her, either. The shelter is full. My heart breaks for every animal that has no place to go because there is no place left for them to go. Pet overpopulation doesn't just happen in other countries. It's a problem here, too, in our own backyard. A man came in with a cat to surrender as I was leaving... But the shelter is full. There is no space for cats, or rabbits, or guinea pigs. The shelter simply can't take more. I hope he was kind when they broke the news, but I doubt it. "It took me a week to catch this cat," he said as I scurried out. I guess he hadn't read the sign on the door. No vacancy. The shelter is doing its best. Rescues are doing their best. People are failing their pets faster than shelters and rescues can pick up the slack. Maybe a little room was made today for one more abandoned bunny, but it's not enough. It's never enough. When will people stop buying pets? How do they not see that supporting breeders only hurts the very animals they claim to love? Pascal has to be one of the neediest, clingiest, shoutiest cats I've ever met! He woke me up this morning meow-screaming at me because he wasn't on the bed. There was nothing stopping him from getting on the bed. He was just whinging very loudly because he wasn't on it. As you can see in the (badly lit) photo, he's still a bit winky in his eye and last night he had discharge from his nose. Repost @this_is_houston Sometimes it takes almost losing them to realize you can’t live without them 🥰 We were preparing to send Sampson to our rescue partner in Vermont since he hasn’t had any adoption interest here but his fosters decided they couldn’t let him go ❤️ he’s developed a pretty intense bond with foster dad and makes a great addition to the family! They said “we were hoping that Sampson would get the yard of his dreams but it seems we're going to have to now make that dream come true for him…someday soon! He has become Kuma's best friend/best little brother and we absolutely adore Sampson's personality.” Sampson came to us severely dehydrated and he was living in the woods.
