Summary:

This weekend, Mibuchi's going to introduce her super-supportive, loving boyfriend to her parents. Her only problem? He doesn't actually exist.

That is, until Akashi agrees to play the part of her pretend-partner. Obviously her old feelings for him won't get in the way of anything, and of course he'd never really feel that way towards her, after all. For sure. Definitely.

AGELAST - a person who never laughs.

The most Reo has ever gotten out of Akashi Seijuurou is a chuckle.Sometimes when Seijuurou’s really got his guard down, he lets out a snort (and gosh, does Reo, who dislikes suchunrefined gestures, find it almost as endearing as Sei-chan’s entire existence).

It’s a lazy Sunday afternoon, and while such afternoons are not anunusual thing for Reo, the same thing can’t be said for Akashi, who usuallyspends his weekend shadowing his father at his company, or carrying out minormiserable paperwork, or interpreting numbers on a spreadsheet—all the thingsthat a normal, healthy teenager really shouldn’t be doing on a Sundayafternoon.

Which is why Reo’s happy enough to be lounging around on Akashi’sgarden that Sunday, hand buried in the red hair that burns even brighter in theSun. Akashi’s head is comfortably nested on Reo’s lap, one hand on Reo’s kneeand the other holding his book open. To Reo’s relief, the book is of thefictional crime genre, rather than how tobuild an empire: business edition.

Reo can’t really conjure anything that can be deemed humorous in acrime thriller, but he hears Sei-chan’s amused “hmph” every now and thenanyway. Occasionally, he feels the slight tremor of Akashi’s shoulders when hechukles. While he loves the redhead, he prays that Akashi’s just chuckling athow predictable the plot is, and not at the gruesome details that Reo prefersnot to know about.

At some point Reo abandons Akashi’s tresses and instead traces adelicate finger from the center of Akashi’s hairline, down to his forehead andto the bridge of his nose, tickling the skin there a bit before finally landingon Akashi’s lips. Upon contact, Akashi closes his eyes and pecks the tip ofReo’s finger. It’s the only change he shows before going back to his book, butthis time, there’s a hint of a smile playing on Akashi’s lips, and Reo findshimself loving the way it complements his relaxed face.

Reo smiles gently. It’s not that he’s desperate to see every side ofAkashi, but he does wonder from time to time how the younger boy would looklike laughing. Reo’s never been one for jokes (that’s Hayama’s job, though hedoesn’t do it very well either), and neither he nor Akashi finds much amusementin the occasional YouTube parodies that Nebuya links them to, so really, thereisn’t much stimulation that could prompt a laugh from either of them (though inReo’s case, it isn’t impossible—just improbable).

They’ve only been together for a year, and if they’re anything it’sstable. Reo’s sure in the coming years, he’ll find something that makes Akashithrow his head back and scrunch his eyebrows together in a beautiful laugh, butfor now, his high school heart is content with the vulnerable smile that Akashishows him whenever they’re alone.

Headcanon that whenever akashi misses the gom and nijirin in the middle of the night he goes to reo's dorm room and reo spends the whole night comforting him with hugs and food (he doesnt touch it tho w) and silly stories while akashi just clings onto him the whole time (I just rly have a thing for dependent akashi_(:3」∠)_)

Reo would always have good comfort food. He always has emergency cookies and chocolate. He’d also give good hugs. Hugging Reo feels like hugging your mum. And he probably has a lot of silly stories about him, Hayama, and Nebuya from their first year. 

Also. Imagine Reo reading to Akashi. Like just reading a novel to him. To help calm him down and relax. Having a good book read to you is very therapeutic. Akashi’s mum probably read to him a lot when he was little so it makes Akashi feel safe and comfortable. Again, being around Reo is just like being around your mum.
