I get why Aldrich's two rings are color-coded like that (HP vs FP), but what I also like about it is how this coding might refer to two separate "stages"

Some of his clergy do wear blue + black instead of red + white (notably, specifically those that show mutation in lower body similar to that of what we see in Aldrich boss form), so I like to think Aldrich was not an exception, and also used to wear white and red variant - until he REALLY connected with the Sea stuff in his pursuit (by pursuit I mean eating people lmao), and since then he changed clothes color to black and blue. That's where he'd have blue ring instead too (could explain why FP too. you know, Arcane n stuff)

But yes, overall kinda cool to reward especially nasty members with new uniform gfhgdjhhhn

In my opinion cause soul of cinder is all the manifestation of all the Lord of cinder that have been linking the fire he must have at least each trait of this lord , so let's analyse the Lord's first :

Gwyn of Lord of cinder and king of Gods he try so hard to prolong the age of fire even if it extend to his family and himself in the end becoming hollow

Yhorm the giant , the giant who linked the first flame in attemp to save his people and city even if his people do not feel love from him in the end he was slaughtered by his own friend Siegfried by the sword he give to him

Ludleth of courland A small pygmy from courland and a extracting and coalescing the essence of souls to gain incredible powers. But he still have nightmare from the burning

Abyss Watchers A legion of Undead soldiers tasked with fighting the Abyss wherever it takes shape, united in their souls by the wolf blood of Artorias to link the First Flame and do their duty one last time.

Aldrich, Saint of the Deep: A cleric from Irithyll of the Boreal Valley who took pleasure in devouring humans, eating so much that his body became a sludge of darkness and was made to link the First Flame for his strength. Sacrificing anything and everything to brought the age of sea

(He reject his destiny but I want to mention him) Lothric, Younger Prince A prince brought into the world by the royal family of Lothric for the sole purpose of linking the Flame, but his frailty, curse and suffering led him to reject his destiny.

And if we want to add the player basically us from DS 1-3

Ashen one, Bearer of curse, and Choosen undead basically an unkidled or human who self determine to continue or reject the linking of fire.

So the soul of cinder personality will be a obsessive yet protective guy that stubbornly protect reader even if it cost him his life he'll be a very gentleman kind of person that tries to change the course of destiny and fate if your life is in danger sacrificing anything and everything as long if it keep you safe. Hate him if you must but he'll keep loving you.

And to add that in mind the failure of the Lord be a reminder in his head that he can't fail her just like the Lord fail linking the fire making his personality 10 time more overbearing

VERSES .

⚘ verse — do you believe in god / i do please stop there’s so much blood

canon . Unwilling acolyte of the Deep, corralled to the cathedral among a sorry stream of men, women, children.  Anri does not remember what came before the long march along the Road of Sacrifices.  Saint Aldrich is the beginning and he is insatiable, he eats endlessly, he bloats and swells.  Anri befriends other children in the course of her domestic and ecclesiastical duties.  They pray for salvation, but no hero comes to their rescue.  Hollow-eyed child, she watches as those she loves are consumed live, one by one, split like pomegranates on the altar while the monstrous choir sings and chants.  It was Horace’s idea that they flee.  In the end, they are the only ones to escape, to outrun the hunters and their hounds. They alone are the sole survivors of Aldrich’s grim appetite.

⚘ verse — teach me the art of small steps

canon . It is chance that sees their paths cross with that of Ryland of Astora.  Stowaways on the sea crossing, their fare paid by a greying knight to keep them from trouble.  He takes them under his wing, under his noble tutelage.  Together, they travel a war-stricken world, they grow accustomed to the weight of weapons in hand, they drink deep from the cup of honour and heroism.  When they are ready, they venture into the smouldering heart of Ryland’s motherland and slay the dark spirit that destroyed Astora.  The battle costs Ryland his life, and with his passing Anri dons his armour.  To those she meets thereafter, she will say she is of Astora, drawn as she is to its history of gallantry and courage, to its current state of desolation.  To drive back the growing dark, she offers herself to link the Flame – but her sacrifice is rejected.  She is deemed unworthy kindling, and she burns for nothing.  Loyal Horace follows her into the fire, together in death as life, and their ash is carried on the same wind.

⚘ verse — i thought even the bones would do

canon . Anri awakens in the untended graves, crawling from the earth with ash thick in her throat.  She is raised from the dead, remade as a Lordseeker.  In a world that rings empty, that is haunted by hollows, she looks to fulfil her purpose – to destroy the resurrected Saint Aldrich and avenge the children she once knew.  Horace is at her side as they take the Road of Sacrifices to the Cathedral of the Deep, though they will not find Aldrich there.  No, he waits beyond Irithyll, in the pale city that was once home of the gods.

⚘ verse — every body is a book of blood

bloodborne . A Blood Saint and custodian of the Orphanage.  Anri bleeds herself dry to bolster those brave and fierce enough to drive back the beastly scourge.  Covered in track marks, she tends to the children, she loves them true.  A low-ranking servant of the Healing Church, she knows not what fate awaits the children in her care, not privy to the machinations and horror of the Choir’s ambition.

⚘ verse — can i hope to become / when a lone lamb can’t be salvaged

modern . Anri owns and runs a flower shop, living a thrifty and simple life. She loves her friends and serves her community, frequently gifting bouquets to hospitals and homes for the elderly. In her spare time, she volunteers as a cuddler in the local neonatal intensive care unit. Beneath her wholesome veneer, there is trauma she dares not speak – that she and Horace are survivors of the Catholic care system.

⚘ verse — love is what sits at the core of the world

ancient greece . A verse inspired by but not limited to Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey.  Anri is a priestess Aphrodite, a caretaker of her goddess’ temple in Korinthia.  There she participates in sacred processions, public prayers, holy feasts in which the people present dine in the presence of divinity.  For a small fee, she may also officiate at private rituals.

God the Dark Souls Archthrones Cathedral of the Deep is so fucking cool, both the appearance and the vibe they are going for with the bosses.

It starts out okay, just that location but in the dark, but then you start seeing much stranger things coming off the ground. When you go in you are greeted by a cathedral knight, seemingly corrupted by something unfathomable. And deeper inside it starts to look like the thick darkness in the air is corroding the walls and the people. (Saying all this from the perspective of watching a stream so may be innacurate).

And the bosses being these horrible things, but both being called Saints, is genius. It gives weight to Aldrich's title of "Saint of the Deep" to have a Saint Klimt also exist and do different yet equally vile acts.

Also I really like the new Aldrich fight, as spammy as it seems. Just this absolutely disgusting beast, I can't even identify where the moveset comes from.

A while ago I stumbled upon a map related to the oceanographic expedition of HMS Challenger, and noted marked on the map the “Aldrich Deep”. (Akin to the Challenger Deep, located in the Kermanec Trench, and presumably named after one of the crew members, Pelham Aldrich.)

Naturally, my mind turned to Aldrich, Saint of the Deep.

It’s another little oceanic connection. “Abyss” sometimes refers to the abyssal plane, a deep layer of the ocean 4-6km down, where no light reaches. Deep, but not the deepest. The use of “Deep” in “Challenger Deep” and “Aldrich Deep” refer to the very deepest points in the already-deep trenches of the sea floor, the oceanic equivalent to the peak of the highest mountains.

The abyss, the bottomless pit of darkness. The Deep, the bottom of that bottomless pit.

Klimt headcanons (?)

Tbh as much as I love joking that Klimt abandoned his religion as Saint of the Deep to be a simp, it is not actually what I believe, or at least it isn't that simp-le

I can't unsee a bident specifically as a very marine imagery, which makes total sense considering their connection with the Deep Sea! That's why I also give Aldrich himself a trident, as more 'full' symbol of that power! The thing is, bident is a downgraded version of a trident (yeah no shit), and not only Klimt uniquely has this weapon, but also was tasked to communicate with Rosaria, another key figure in that whole... mess. For me everything points out to the fact that Klimt was basically a vice. Special one amongst even the three Archdeacons that basically was tasked to speak for Aldrich and take his place when he was absent. Probably exactly what he was doing when Aldrich became too much of a sludge to function like he used to. In fact, he would be his successor if Aldrich ever was gone!

Currently it is McDonnel who lowkey does that (not really lol), but that was not the original plan. What I do think happened was that Klimt could not handle it mentally when Aldrich actually was gone. Like, separation was so bad for him mentally that "faith" alone could not sustain it!

I think from the fact of already having admired Rosaria so much before pointed towards clinginess and emotional issues of some sort, and I also think he was the youngest one from the entire staff (but nonetheless the most "understanding" and earning Aldrich's trust more than even other associates.. or, maybe, it was being the youngest and the most vulnerable what made him the most perceptive to Aldrich's corruption? oh boy). It was the pain of dependency and separation, but also he decided that he did not deserve the second highest place in Church of the Deep anyhow if he was such a mess simply in the absence of Aldrich 🤔 The decision was not actual lack of faith but the guilt and realising he was useless FOR this faith as he was (though Royce definitely missed the complications thinking Klimt failed to "man up" basically and just felt vindicated that in the end HE was the one who stayed the most loyal lol)

Also:

THE most likely conclusion is that this specific grub Rosaria is holding is Klimt himself, or, well, what is left of him! The thing is, this one is even more messed up than the average man-grubs who look like this, for the comparison:

So bro overused rebirth even beyond what's already a critical point. It makes sense with his proximity, but also sorta doesn't, because how do you actually function as the leader like this? Bro probably just really, REALLY didn't want to exist anymore in a way

Although Anri and Horace travel together, and are seemingly motivated by the same purpose, it’s important to distinguish between their aspirations:

Anri wants to avenge the murdered children of the cathedral – her singular focus is to slay Saint Aldrich. The loathsome Deacons of the Deep and Pontiff Sulyvahn are secondary. Horace, while equally traumatised by the consumption of their fellow acolytes, believes the dead are dead, that justice and vengeance are subjective concepts without real weight or purpose. Anri is alive, as much as any of the ashen can be, and she matters more to him than the long-dead children. His duty is to her, his purpose is to keep her safe, to help her realise her own aspirations. Which is why when they became separated for the final time, when Horace was helplessly lost in the catacombs and presumed Anri to have perished, he finally goes hollow.

Her earliest memory is of the Road of Sacrifices. Of her own sandaled feet. The blisters, the blood. Pond water infecting wounds, the whip singing through the air. Then came the gold-trimmed gowns of white. Incense smoke, rosewater, prayer. Low sonorous voices praising the Deep. More blood. Anri served as an acolyte, and watched as her fellow children were sacrificed – consumed – one by one. Saint Aldrich the man-eater was never satiated.

It was with her hand in Horace’s that she escaped slaughter, racing through the woods while bells tolled their betrayal, as hunters and their hounds followed in their wake. How fortunate they were to fall under the service of Ryland of Astora. His tutelage saw Anri and Horace learn to wield steel. Eventually they travelled to the smouldering heart of Ryland’s ruined homeland. Together, they slayed the dark spirit, the memory of which lives on in the Ring of the Evil Eye.

Ryland gave his life, and Anri donned her fallen mentor’s armour. Determined to drive back the shadow of the Abyss, Anri sacrificed herself to link the Flame, but was rejected, deemed unworthy kindling. Once again risen, with Horace at her side, she seeks only one Lord – Saint Aldrich, who must pay for his gluttony and cruelty, along with those who aided and abetted him. Vengeance is delivered in the name of innumerable dead children.
