Sam and Jess came back home as soon as they finished school, even skipping graduation, and you couldn't be happier to welcome them back.
You had done a few changes to the house since they had left. There was now a bed that could fit all of you in the master bedroom, and you set another room as an extra room when any of you needed privacy, and you had finished your baby's nursery. She didn't have a name yet - you liked the idea of letting Sam and Jess suggest names too, considering you were a pack and they would also be her parents, even if they weren't there to produce her.
Finally, finally, they were home and your family was complete.
The boys were off to deal with Sam's new university, where he would be continuing with his studies, but Jess had taken another road.
Oh, and she was also pregnant now. Your babies would be four months apart!
She still wasn't showing but was very proud of her belly anyway, showing it off, taking pictures every week and looping you into taking them with her with your weeks on the board and 'baby girl' and 'baby baby' under them.
You had to say, pregnancy suited her very well.
Your Omega was glowing and you could see how much happier she was now and it made you even happier that she was here with you.
"Oh, here," she pulled your hand, placing it on her 7 weeks belly.
You tried not to giggle at her enthusiasm.
It was impossible to notice anything about her pregnancy. Sometimes, she would feel things and try to make you or the boys feel it, and you had to stop Dean from telling her it was just gas.
But you didn't mind, because it was adorable!
While you were excited about your daughter, you were also very ready for her to come out already, though you were a bit far from that.
Your belly had begun to actually get big, and now you couldn't see your feet, and they were starting to swell.
Also, you were craving a few things to the point of them being the only thing you were able to think about sometimes!
Some nights you had to wake Dean up to ask him for some stuff, like peanut butter with ice cream, cucumber with jelly, his cum - and Sam's - on chocolate...
Cravings.
And you couldn't stop thinking of Jess' pussy.
Right at this moment.
As she spoke to you about whatever thing she was thinking about.
"Are you alright?" she asked, taking your focus to her voice. "Do you want some more cucumber with jelly?"
"Actually..." you bit your lower lip. "I'm craving something else right now."
You never thought you'd experiment with women before Joss, but she was one of the most beautiful Omegas you had ever seen and you wanted her even before you were mated.
"Oh, what is it?" she asked.
You took her hand, pulling her closer.
"Your pussy," you moved your nose over hers. "Can I have it, Jess? Can I eat your pussy?"
She licked her lips, eyes twinkling at the thought.
"Are you sure?" she asked. "You and Dean haven't mated in a while..."
It was true. Normally you two fucked like rabbits, but you were going through a very tired phase to go through being fucked and Dean understood that.
Mostly, you sucked his cock and used your hands on one another, and that was it.
"I am," you told her. "Please, Jess? I need it."
Jess nodded with her cheeks flushed, kissing you sweetly, but it quickly shifted into something passionate, and arched her body to yours when moved your hands to caress her beautiful tits, and pulled away from you slowly before you took it off.
"Let me give you a little show, Omega," she pulled back.
She teased you a little, taking off her shirt over her head, and massaging her tits a little bit as you licked your lips, eager to have them in your mouth.
Your Omega turned around to you, showing her ass in her itsy bitsy little shorts, buried between her ass cheeks at the end of her very long legs, and you just wanted to throw her on the couch just like that and fucking devour her.
Your pussy was already wet when she slid the piece off, stepping away from them and standing in your living room in just a little thong.
"Fucking tease," you whispered, licking your lips.
She giggled, playing with it with her fingers.
"You want me to take it off, Omega?" she teased you.
You nodded, and she pouted.
"Say please?"  Jess teased you.
Oh, how silly.
As if you were going to be bossed around by a younger Omega.
You stood up, pulling Jess and laying her down, half throwing but still making sure to be careful.
"I don't say please," you raised her ass.
Jess whined, sticking her ass out obediently, and you licked her over her panties, already seeing a little bit of her wetness sipping through them.
"Silly little Omega," you held her ass cheeks open.
You licked and licked her clit over the fabric until she was squirming and whining under you.
"Omega," she panted. "Please."
If you were Dean, you would have ripped off that silly thong and would give her a good spanking on her ass and her pussy.
Well... you could, couldn't you?
"Did Sam learn how to spank your pussy, Omega?" you asked her.
You tried ripping her panties, but struggled, and huffed to yourself.
How did Dean do that?
"No," she whined, looking back at you. "Sam is too afraid of hurting me."
You scoffed.
Silly Sam.
You pulled her panties down, watching with a pleased smirk when her wetness followed it with a long, stretched droplet.
Beautiful. Just beautiful.
You shifted her position, making her lay across your lap, thankful for the long space to stretch your legs so she would have where to lay on without your belly bothering her.
"Let's fix that, uh?" you decided.
You slapped her ass a couple of times, twice on each side, warming your hands up.
She gasped and whined as you did, her sweet ass making a perfect jiggle with each slap. Such a cute little college student, perfect little Omega.
"Omega," she moaned.
You hummed to her.
"Yes, sweet Omega?"
Jess wiggled her ass, as if that would tempt you into forgetting what you were doing now.
"Please," she whimpered. "Omega? Eat my pussy?"
You hummed a little, still slapping her ass.
"I don't know," you considered slowly. "You did tease me, Jess... I don't know if you deserve it."
She whined.
"But you said you-"
Before she could finish, you silenced her up with a slap on her pussy.
Jess cried out, shocked, and you were happy to find her so wet she made your hand all wet.
"Behave, little Omega," you slapped her again.
So that was why Dean liked this so much.
To shut up a silly, noisy Omega brat made you feel almost as much pleasure as being slapped yourself.
She cried as you found your rhythm, slapping her entrance and then her clit, til you were just slapping and slapping her.
You only stopped when your hand was all messy, finally satisfied, and made her lay on her back again, spreading her legs and licking her hungrily.
She came quickly after you set your lips on her, and you chuckled.
"What a messy little Omega," you teased, pushing two fingers into her. "So eager you barely needed any touch to cum."
Jess whined, and you just moved down to her, kissing and licking her cunt, eating her out hungrily, and moaned when you felt your tits ache and leak onto the couch.
Fuck, you hadn't even realised you were so horny.
You didn't stop licking and eating her out even after she came. Actually, you pined her down and focused on pleasing her even more.
During your first time, Dean had stopped you from making her cum so many times she got stupid and silly, but you were all alone now, and there was no Alpha around to tell you what you could or couldn't do with your Omega.
"Omega!" she cried, shaking under you. "Y/N!"
You held her, not letting her go from under you, and sucked onto her clit as you fucked her with two fingers, curling your fingers against her g-spot.
You'd make her cum until she didn't know anything but you, until she didn't need anything but you.
Jess's pussy squeezed your fingers when you pushed a third one inside - she was used to taking Sam's big cock, you knew she liked feeling full - and you focused a bit more on her sweet spot, looking to make her squirt.
"Y/N!" she cried. "Please, it's too much."
You clicked your tongue.
"But you can still form phrases, Omega," you reminded her. "I don't think it is enough."
Jess whined, desperate, and you held her close to you with your free arm.
You giggled, elated, when she moaned out loudly, her pussy squeezing your fingers tight as she finally squirted, wetting your whole face with her delicious slick.
You pulled away, sucking your fingers clean, giving her a minute, and turned her to lay with her belly up, drooling when you realised her tits were leaking all over.
"Oh, baby," you cooed. "Why didn't you tell me your milky tits were dripping?"
Jess looked down, seeming all dazed, unaware by her own biological reaction
So your hunch was right. Jess was just like you...
The Winchester did have a type, after all.
You latched onto her breast, sucking as you pushed your fingers into her cunt again, sucking her sweet, sweet milk, as you continued with your goal of making her just a silly little puddle of Omega slick.
She came beautifully under you, arching her hips to your hand, moaning so loud you knew she would be heard outside.
"Please, Omega," she begged. "Want your milk, please. I need your milk."
Oh, your poor Omega. You weren't the only hungry one, after all.
You moved up, putting a breast onto her lips and moaned when she started sucking down on you but focused on keeping fucking and playing with her with the hand you had on her pussy.
Jess' didn't pull away to moan when you felt her squeezing you again, her orgasm much quicker and much easier to pull from her now.
"My poor little Omega," you moaned. "So hungry for my milk, baby..."
Her beautiful eyes were closed, and she was just taking and taking everything from you, like a good Omega.
You didn't even notice she was moving to touch you until she did, and moaned when her slender fingers started playing with you, and couldn't hold back a loud cry.
"Fuck, Jess," you moaned.
She opened her eyes, pupils wide as she started fingering you and rubbing your clit with the heel of her hand.
Your eyes closed and you almost lost focus.
Fuck, you were so horny, so wet.
She pulled you up to her body, and you were quick to position yourself between your legs, rubbing your pussy on hers and moaning at how good, how sweet it felt.
You didn't stop when she came under you, too warm now, looking for your own pleasure.
"'mega," Jess cried under you. "Y/n!"
You reached down, pinching her tits and her nipples, and she cried out again, cumming one more time.
Before you could reach your own pleasure, though, a voice rose right behind you.
"My, my," Dean gasped. "What do we have here?"

To The Victor Chapter Three - Can't Be Claimed
Tumblr media
Summary: Although Omegas had won the legal battle for equal rights, society was slow to catch up. Thought to be the weakest of the genders, they struggled to find opportunities that Alphas and Betas took for granted. Known as the Guillotine, Emmaline Beaumont was woman with a secret. Head of her family’s company; she was smart, shrewd, and tough as nails. At sixteen she presented as Omega and she’s hidden it ever since. Suppressants and hormone reassignment therapy allowed her to live her life as the Alpha her family needed her to be. The perfect solution, so long as she never allowed herself to be claimed. As the President of Winchester Inc. Dean’s professional life was golden. As an unmated Alpha nearing forty, he was restless. Charming and devastatingly handsome, Dean was rarely without female company, but he wanted more. He wanted what his parents had. Someone made especially for him. His match, his true mate. Finding her on a trip to New York had been an unexpected dream come true, but no one ever said the road to love was easy.

The twenty minutes it took for help to arrive were nothing short of agony for Dean. He kept Emma cradled close. Whispering sweet words of encouragement in her ear, telling her to hold on, that help was on the way. She never responded, but he had to believe that she could hear him or at least knew he was there. That he wasn’t leaving her. That he was going to take care of her.
God, she’s so cold!
Dean tugged the blankets closer around the two of them and rubbed her arms roughly, desperate to infuse every ounce of his own heat to her chilled flesh. Give her his strength. Surround her with his scent. In his mind, he kept going over the conversation with Emma’s sister.
Emma can’t be claimed. Family doctor treating her since childhood.
Just what the hell did that mean? If it hadn’t been for the insistent tone in Jess’ voice, Dean would have called 911 instead. As it was, he was doubting his decision.
He pressed a kiss to Emma’s temple, “Keep fighting sweetheart, I’m right here.”
The door to the suite opened without so much as a knock of warning and a short, slight man entered. He wore a slim black suit and tie with a matching fedora pulled down over dark hair. His unsmiling face was sharply featured with beady eyes and a crooked, hawk-like nose. Everything about him was severe and unpleasant. The expression he wore was a mix of displeasure and annoyance. Going by the classic leather satchel in his hand, this man must be the family doctor.
Dean shifted Emma’s unconscious body off his chest and stood, “You the doctor?”
The man removed his hat and placed it on the table along with his bag, “I am Doctor Lancaster, and you are the Alpha who caused all the trouble.” He never spared Dean a glance as he rifled through his bag. His tone suggested an absolute disgust with the situation.
Dean crossed his arms over his chest. He didn’t appreciate being judged by a gargoyle in cheap mortician’s suit. Especially not when his mate’s life was hanging by a thread. “Yup, that’s me. So, are you able to help her?”
Lancaster moved over his patient with efficiency. After he took a few vitals, he drew out a vial and syringe from his bag of tricks. “I believe so, it was a good thing you called when you did. Another hour and she’d be dead.” He swiped an alcohol swab over the crook of Emma’s elbow and administered a hefty dose of the drug.
“What are you giving her?”
“Botox.”
The Alpha didn’t appreciate the sarcasm. He let out a low, menacing growl and clenched his jaw so that the muscle there twitched.
The doctor was equally unimpressed with the show of aggression. “It’s a combination of adrenaline, beta blockers and hormone booster.”
Dean frowned as he realized the implication, “She was on suppressants?”
“Ah! An Alpha with a brain! Nice to know at least one of you rutting beasts can think with something other than your nether regions.” Lancaster checked Emma’s pulse one last time. With a satisfied nod, he shut his bag and stood.
“Your Omega is going to be fine. Her temperature is already rising, and her heat cycle will now continue as normal.” The doctor gave Dean an appraising once over. “Judging by your own state, I’d say you are already aware of that.”
Dean was loathed to admit this quack was right about anything. The cavalier way he was treating a medical emergency should have him barred from practicing medicine anywhere in the civilized world. The fact that the emergency was his mate, made Dean want to rip the man’s throat out on principle alone. Yet, the little troll had done something right, because he could now pick up Emma’s scent. It was intoxicating, and stronger than it had ever been. Apple orchards and magnolia blossoms, it made his mouth water. His rut, that had been threatening since meeting Emma was now in full swing. His thoughts were quickly giving way to is Alpha instincts; protect, care for, and knot his mate.
Lancaster already had his hand on the door, knowing his presence wouldn’t be tolerated by a rutting Alpha for much longer. “She’ll wake in a couple of hours. When she does, the best treatment for her, is you.”
It was the faint, high pitched whine that finally pulled Emma from her dreamless sleep. She felt warm and secure. That lovely scent of sun-warmed cedar forest tickled her nose and she sighed in contentment, snuggling towards it.
“’Mega?”
The worry edged fear in that deep voice had her frowning before she even opened her eyes. When she did, Dean’s face was mere inches from hers, his handsome features tight with stress. The anxiety that rolled off him in waves made her heart clench. He was terrified.
She brought her hand out from under the nest of blankets and threaded it through Dean’s hair, “Alpha.”
Dean crushed her to his chest, his whole body trembled, weak with relief. After that wretched doctor left, Dean had ridded them both of their clothes and bundled them up under a mountain of blankets. He kept their bodies pressed as closely together as possible, his instincts telling him skin to skin contact was crucial to his Omega’s recovery. A warm, safe nest for just the two of them where he could protect her and look after her properly.
He scented her deeply, desperate to drown himself in the sweet fragrance. “Thank God,” he murmured over and over again.
“Shh, it’s alright. I’m alright,” she soothed, brushing kisses against his forehead. She held him tight as he shook in her arms. A virile, strong Alpha like him wouldn’t be scared by much, and that told her all she needed to know about how critical things had gotten.
He had taken care of her, gotten her help and no doubt saved her life. Now it was her turn to take care of him, “I’ve got you; I’m right here.”
He kissed her roughly, stealing her words along with her breath. Desperation and urgency in every heated pass of his mouth over hers. His hands groped her aggressively, pawing at any bit of softness he could find. It took him several minutes to regain his control. He abruptly pulled away, panting for composure he would not easily grasp.
“I’m sorry… sorry.” He let his forehead fall against hers as his chest heaved. His voice was low and hoarse. “You need rest.”
Emma studied Dean’s pinched features. The tension coiled uncomfortably, barely contained, under the surface, sweat dotted his skin and his rock-hard length twitched between them. His eyes were nearly black, overtaken by the hormones and lust ravaging his system. This whole mess had triggered his rut, God knows how long he had been suffering with it while she was unconscious. The added worry that his mate was dying had made it nearly unbearable.
Her heart broke for him then and with it came guilt. This whole thing was her fault. She knew the consequences of doing anything with an Alpha while she was still taking the treatments. It was reckless and irresponsible and unforgivably selfish.
She cupped the side of his face, gently brushing her thumb over the ridge of his cheekbone. He closed his eyes and leaned into her soothing touch. “I don’t need rest. I only need you.”
“No,” he muttered, trying to ignore the urges running through him. “I’m rough. Too rough. Don’t wanna hurt you.”
She continued to stroke his face, calming and soothing. “You won’t hurt me, I’m your Omega. And your Omega is a strong Omega.”
Dean mustered up a final ounce of control and looked into her deep, blue eyes. The comfort and consent he saw there eased the tightness in his chest. “’Mega mine.”
“Yours.” Emma confirmed softly and brushed her lips feather-light over his, “Mate now. Rest later.”
It lasted five days in total. Each of them seamlessly providing what the other needed most. Alpha and Omega. Balanced. Each a perfect counterpoint to the other. They relished in the joy of being together. Every experience was exciting and new, every touch satisfied in ways that surprised. Very few words were spoken, their connection was so strong that it over-rode the need to talk. That knowing, that deep down in the soul kind of certainty was staggering. The intimacy of their bond was deeper and more complex than either of them had ever known.
Now that their respective heat and rut cycles had ended, they were left with the rather mundane task of how to weave their lives together. These were the boring, yet very necessary details of the real world. The world outside of cozy one they’d created within the confines of the hotel suite. Neither of them were particularly excited at the prospect.
“So, going by this hotel room we’ve been honeymooning in, I’m guessing you’re not a New Yorker.”
Dean caught her gaze in the mirror as he deftly buttoned up the crisp, white dress shirt and smiled. Even her reflection caused his stomach to flip over. “Nope, Chicago. Born and bred. You?”
“Manhattan.”
“You ever been to the windy city?”
“A couple of times,” she shrugged, tucking her legs up demurely under her backside. “It’s not bad for fly-over country.”
“Fly-over country?” Dean scoffed, “Chicago is in the heartland, the Midwest. Everything a big city has to offer with access to wide open spaces. Way better than this uptight sand bar.”
“Is that so? Then what’s a guy like you doing slumming it around the boroughs? Cruising for a mate?”
“Nah, I just got lucky.” Dean plopped down to sit beside her on the bed and kissed her loudly. “I travel a lot for work. I’m in New York once a month or so.”
“Will you come back more now?” She asked hopefully, the thought of only seeing him once a month had her heart twisting.
“Well, I thought that you’d come back with me. You know, live with me in Chicago.” Seeing her face fall, he rushed to reassure her, hoping that he wasn’t bungling things too much. “I’m sure you will need some time to get things tied up here, but I want you with me ‘Mega. And we can come back as often as you like.”
“Why don’t you move here with me?”
Dean nearly scoffed, but the earnest look in her eyes suggested a softer approach might be better. “Sweetheart, my business is in Chicago. I make a good living, an excellent living actually. I have an apartment there along with some property in the country. I’ll take good care of you; you won’t have to worry about anything ever again.”
She raised her chin to look Dean square in the eye, “My business is in New York. I make an excellent living and I own a beautiful Brownstone on the upper east side. I don’t have a country cottage, but I’m willing to work that into our negotiations.”
“Negotiations?!” He sat back with a laugh, “You are something else, you know that? Omegas don’t negotiate living arrangements with their Alphas.”
She leveled her gaze, “Yours does.”
His mate wasn’t one to give in easily, and he loved that about her. Her spirit. Her fight. She challenged him, made him earn her submission. Made him prove he was worthy of her. He was happy to oblige her.
He leaned in close, his mouth centimeters from hers but not touching. He ghosted over, getting tantalizingly close but never making contact. Catching on, she let him edge her backwards on the bed. It was one of those games teenagers play, like there’s an invisible barrier around their bodies that allow them to get close but never touch. They moved in tandem, he filled up space she had occupied only moments before. She retreated as he advanced.
Dean’s movements were sleek and slow, like a panther. He never stopped his progression, never broke contact with her gaze. He watched with hooded eyes as the glint of rebellion gave over to something softer.
He hovered over her body only a hair’s breadth away, his grin was predatory, “Lucky for you, I’m an expert negotiator.”
Emma struggled to keep her thoughts orderly. It was growing increasingly difficult as her mate hovered above her. His scent surrounded her, his arms and legs caging her in. He was everywhere and she could feel herself start to float on that heady, seductive cloud. She couldn’t help the sigh that escaped her lips. Nowhere in the whole world felt as good, as right, as being with him.
It wasn’t until he saw her eyes flutter shut that he broke that invisible barrier between them. His nose brushed the claiming mark and inhaled deeply before moving on to the spot just behind her ear. It was one of her favorites and he had discovered just how sensitive it was over the past few days.
When he nuzzled her then nipped, she moaned and brought her fingers up to comb through his hair still damp from the shower. “Mmm… you make a valid point.”
He chuckled as he continued his assault. Moving down the graceful column of her neck, he sampled silky skin.
“I have an idea,” she said as Dean made his way to the zipper of her hoodie and started to ease it down. When he didn’t reply but moved his fingers moved to her waistband, she gave a sharp tug on the short hairs at the base of his skull.
“Agh!” He grunted as she wiggled out from under him. With a pained sigh and a semi hard erection, he propped himself up on one elbow. “Better watch it, Sweetheart. You know I like it rough.”
Emma sat up, regal as a queen. Determined to get back to business. “I think we should date.”
“Date,” he repeated. “We’re mated. We’ve spent the last five days claiming each other in every way possible. Don’t you think we’re a little past the dating phase?”
A worried frown creased her brow, “You don’t want to date me?”
“I didn’t say that.”
“I know it’s a little… backwards, but so what? Why should we do things the way other people do?” She gave a shy smile as she appealed to him. “I want to get to know you.”
He sat himself up completely and brushed a strand of hair behind her ear, “We are going to spend the rest of our lives getting to know each other.”
He instead of reassuring her, he felt her pull away. He felt like kicking himself, somehow, he’d managed to say something wrong. He crooked a finger under her chin and forced her to look at him. There was disappointment there, “It means that much to you?”
“Well, I thought it would be fun and I… I’ve never dated before. Not really, anyway.” She replied, struggling to keep embarrassment from coloring her voice.
Dean couldn’t help being surprised. Shocked. She was a beautiful woman, stunning actually. He had no doubt that his pretty little Omega had turned heads from an early age. She was so smart and fun and sexy, it seemed impossible that no one had ever tried to date her. Although the very thought had his possessive Alpha jealousy flaring.
“Never? No boyfriend ever?”
She shook her head and bit her lip. One of her more noticeable nervous tells. “No, not really. I mean, I’ve gone on a few dates but there was never anyone special.”
“Does this have to do with those black-market suppressants you were taking?”
“They weren’t black-market,” she countered, “I wasn’t getting shot up in back alleys, I was under a doctor’s care.”
“Oh, you mean that gargoyle that showed up? That guy was a dick, he had the bedside manner of a cab driver!”
“What he lacks in congeniality he makes up for in discretion.” Emma crossed her arms over her chest defensively. She wasn’t accustomed to defending her actions to anyone, especially regarding her presentation treatments. It was a well-guarded family secret, discussing it with anyone else made her very uneasy. Even if that person was her Alpha, the one person meant to protect her.
“Being an Omega is nothing but a liability, it’s a weakness. This city is full of Alphas who think they can drag me back to their cave by my ponytail. Or boss me around because the world order says they should be in charge of everything!”
Frustrated, she blinked back the stinging in her eyes. Tears that threatened to fall only seemed to undermine her point. Usually, she had a tight rein on her emotions but ever since being claimed, they refused to stay where she put them. They were like a storm she was constantly trying to keep from breaking through.
“I just wanted to live my life without having to worry that my presentation would get me overlooked for a promotion or kidnapped by a rut-crazed Alpha.”
Dean hated the fear and stress he felt from her. Her eyes bright with unshed tears. He knew the world wasn’t an easy place for Omegas. Emma certainly wasn’t alone in her feelings on the matter and many others had taken the same route. Suppressants and scent blockers were a common and safe method for most people who wanted a bit of anonymity.
“You’re right,” he said with a sigh, taking both of her hands in his. Reveling in how delicate they seemed compared to his. How easily they could be bruised or broken. “There’s nothing wrong with Omegas using suppressants. Hell, if I were in your shoes, I’d probably do the same thing. It’s just that reaction you had, you were so cold. I thought I was going to lose you. I’ve never been that scared. And then that creepy doctor… acting like he didn’t care if you lived or died. I wanted to kill him with my bare hands.”
Emma leaned forward and rested her forehead against his. “I know. I’m sorry Dean, it’s my fault. I knew better, I just got caught up. And then when my heat started, I couldn’t think straight.”
“It’s understandable. I did kind of sweep you off your feet.”
“You did,” she smiled softly. “That’s why I had only been with Betas before.”
Dean pulled back and looked at her with curiosity, “So you’ve never been with an Alpha before me?”
“No.”
His grin was instant and cocky as his chest puffed out. “Good.”
She rolled her eyes, “Shut up.”
He laughed and pulled her onto his lap, tucking her head under his chin. She fit there so perfectly; Dean knew he would never grow tired of holding her. Leaving New York without her, would likely be one of the hardest things he would ever do. He took a deep inhale of her sweet scent and groaned. “Okay Sweetheart, you win. Let’s date.”
Emma drew back and looked up at him with wide, hopeful eyes, “Really?”
“Hell, why not!”
She threw her arms around his neck and kissed him with such enthusiasm that he nearly toppled backwards. “Thank you, thank you, thank you!”
“Just you wait,” he muttered through their joined lips, “I’ve got all kinds of romantic cards up my sleeve.”
When her face lit up Dean felt his heart swell. Yeah, being separated for any amount of time would be torture, but worth it if it made her so happy.
She eyed him with suspicion. “You aren’t just giving me my way because I cried, are you?”
“I hate seeing you cry, but no. You made a valid point. It’ll take us time to get everything figured out, why not have some fun while we’re at it?”
The dimple in her left cheek appeared and her eyes sparkled with the smile that bloomed. She was practically glowing with excitement and hope. Shining like the sun, the new center of his universe. His whole future held in his arms.

You were sitting on Sam’s bed flipping through one of his philosophy books as you waited for him to be ready to go. Since his class ran later than yours, it left you waiting on him while he headed off to the showers. When he finally returned, you glanced up from the book and chuckled, eyes going back down to barely look at the words on the page before you flipped to the next one.
“What?”
“Your shirt’s inside out.” you smiled to yourself. You glance up to see him roll his eyes at you before he reaches down and pulls his shirt up and over his head. The smile on your lips fades. Sam is built. You’ve always known he was built to some degree, the muscles in his arms under a t-shirt were no secret. He was an Alpha, he was strong, and god damn, he was built. His stomach flat and hard, muscles showing definition that had you swallowing. Sam was.. You let out a shaky breath before tearing your eyes away. “I uh. I forgot I had to do something.” You scrambled up from his bed, tossing his book aside.
“What? What do you mean-”
“I’ll be like 10 minutes, max, okay. I’ll meet you there.”
“Y/N?” he called after you.
“I’ll meet you there!” You hurried from his room, praying he hadn’t smelt it, that you got out of there quick enough. You needed to get away from him, needed to calm down. You’ve known Sam since you started at Stanford. Your room was just down the hall from his. You partied together, you hung out together. Sometimes he helped you study. But in all that time, you’d never had this reaction to him before. Then again, you’d never seen him take off his shirt before.
You hurried into your room, slamming the door behind you just as someone scented the air and turned towards you. Leaning on the door, you closed your eyes and took deep calming breaths. You couldn’t let him smell you like this. You couldn’t let him know just how he affected you. He was your best friend, nothing more. You weren’t even attracted to him in that way.
Were you?
Tumblr media
It took some time to calm yourself down, then you had to hit a shower to scrub at your skin in a desperate attempt to get rid of the ‘horny Omega’ smell that you felt like you couldn’t shake. Then it was get dressed and rush out to meet Sam. You were a little later than you’d said, but you knew Sam wouldn’t mind too much.
You rushed to the restaurant near campus that you two often frequented together. As you approached, you looked through the window, smiling at first, as Sam was sitting at your favorite table, but he wasn’t alone. Your smile fell fast as you watched the blonde smile at him as they spoke. She tucked her hair behind her ear, looking down as Sam smiled back at her, and you swallowed down pain.
Why did it hurt to see him like this? He was your best friend, you wanted him happy, hell, you’d been his wingman a time or two while drinking, but right here, right now.. It hurt.
Tearing your eyes away, you turned your back to the restaurant. You didn’t know what to do. Did you go in there and interrupt whatever discussion they were having? If you did, would you suddenly become a third wheel? It looked like they were having a good time, maybe he’d invite her to eat with the two of you. Or did you leave, walk away, let him have his moment and pretend you either were never there, or that you are happy for him?
Why did this have to hit now? Why the sudden shift?
Squeezing your eyes shut tight, you tried to picture Sam as he’d been just a few hours ago. Your dorky bff who liked to tease you like you were his little sister. The guy you’d annoy to no end just because you could, because it was fun, because you knew that somewhere he had an older brother and admit it or not, Sam missed him.
But you couldn’t. Picturing him brought back the image of him pulling off his shirt as if it was nothing, because it should have been nothing. Hell, it probably still was to him.
You turned, looking back over your shoulder at the window once more. She was talking to him, and he was looking around outside. He glanced over his shoulder and you whipped around, back to him once again, half hoping he wouldn’t spot you. Praying he hadn’t. You steeled your nerves, glanced back and you knew, he had. He was looking right at you with a confused look on his face.
Taking a deep breath, you turned and headed inside.
“Sorry I’m late.” you mumbled as you got to the table, not making a move to sit anywhere.
“You okay?” He looked worried.
“Fine.” you gave him a forced smile. He didn’t look like he was buying it.
“I’ll leave you two to your dinner.” The blonde gave you a small smile as she got up from her seat. Sam’s eyes went from you, to her, and he looked like he was about to stop her, and that only hurt you more. If he did, you’d excuse yourself and head back to the dorms. “Looks like you two could use some privacy. It was nice meeting you, Sam.”
“Yeah.. you too..” he watched her leave and go to another table, then he was looking at you again, waiting for you to sit, to say something, but you seemed to just stand there awkwardly. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing’s wrong.” He motioned to the seat across from him that she just vacated and you sat awkwardly, hands in your lap like you were going to bolt at any moment. “Nothing’s wrong, Sam.” you lied.
He studied you for a moment. “Then why’d you bolt?”
“Told you, I forgot to do something. I’m sorry I’m late, okay, it took longer than expected.”
“You forgot to shower?” Your eyes shot up to meet his with mild fear in them. How’d he know that's what you did? Did he smell just how turned on you’d been before you ran out? “I can smell it. You used so much body wash, too much.” he scrunched up his nose as if it offended him. “What happened?”
“Nothing.” you reiterated, trying to sound annoyed at his prying. You grabbed a menu as if you didn’t already know the damn thing by heart and pretended to look it over, using it as a barrier between the two of you.
“Why were you just standing outside? Why didn’t you come in?”
“Because you looked like you were having a nice time with blondie, so I considered just going back to the dorms. Are we ordering? Or would you rather I leave so you can get back to that? I don’t mind getting food to go.”
“Y/N-”
“I’ll go.” you stood, ready to leave, but Sam grabbed your wrist to stop you. “What?” you snapped. “And don’t ask me what’s wrong again, I’m fine, so just drop it.”
“Sit.” When you didn’t move, Sam sighed. “Please sit. Come on, it’s our night. I wouldn’t bail on our night for anything. You’re my best friend.” Sam gave you a half smile and you rolled your eyes at him.
“You’re lucky you’re cute.” you muttered, dropping back into your seat and Sam smiled. Sam Winchester and his smile were going to be the death of you.
Tumblr media
A week later you’re practically skipping up the hall to Sam’s room. Figuring he’s showering, as usual, you barely knock before entering. You freeze, however, when you see a familiar blonde sitting on Sam’s bed. “Oh, uh, sorry, I wasn’t aware someone was in here.”
“It’s fine.” she smiled, waving it off. “Sam went to shower, he should be back any minute.”
“Yeah..” you nod, but stand awkwardly in the middle of the room. It doesn’t take long though, for Sam to walk in. He’s wearing jeans and a button down shirt that he’s still buttoning up, and that makes a smile cross your lips as you cock an eyebrow. “Little over dressed there, Sam.” you tease, and he looks up, freezing in his task.  You see something you wish you hadn’t seen. Confusion and then guilt. He forgot.
“Uh-” he looks from you, to the girl on his bed, then back at you.
“Let me guess, you’re bailing.” He opens his mouth, but you cut him off. “It’s fine.”
“I’m sorry.” you can hear her apologetic voice behind you. “I didn’t know you guys had plans.. Sam must have forgotten..”
“Yeah, it’s easy to forget something that happens on the same day every single week for two years.” You gave Sam a tight smile. You weren’t going to hide the hurt this time. “But it’s fine. It’s not like you had any way to let me know at any point today, right?” With that, you started for the door.
“I’ll make it up to you.” He promised.
“Yeah, I know.” you glanced back at him. “You kids go have fun.” You gave them a smile before headed out and hurrying to your room. Once the door shut behind you, you felt the sting of tears. So much for not bailing on your night for anything.
Tumblr media
“Are you mad at me?” Sam stood in your room a few days later while you worked at your desk, your back to him.
“Why would I be mad at you?” you answered, without looking back at him.
“You won’t even look at me.”
“I’m studying.”
Sam sighed, licking his lips before going to sit on your bed. “And usually you let me help you.”
“Usually you let me know if plans change.” you counter, still not looking back at him.
“So you are mad.”
“Not mad, no. Hurt.” this time you do turn. “You said you wouldn’t bail on me for anything, and literally the next week, you bail on me without a word like I don’t mean shit, Sam.”
“I just forgot-”
“Forgot that we had plans? Or forgot to tell me? Because I call bullshit on both.” Sam opened his mouth to respond but you didn’t let him. “Here’s the thing, Sam. Either you asked her, knowing you had plans, or she asked you and you said yes knowing you had plans.” Sam sighed, looking down at the floor. “As for forgetting to tell me, I’m three doors down. You know my schedule, you could have knocked any time. You have my cell number, you could have called or text me.”
“I just forgot, I’m sorry.”
“Yeah.” you turned back to your books. You want to be mad at him, you want to tell him to fuck off just so he realizes just how bad he hurt you, but another part of you, a part of you that realized just how much Sam Winchester means to you, wants him to come over, hug you and tell you that no one else matters to him as much as you do. “You sorry for not talking to me for three days on top of that?” you ask casually. “Must have been a hell of a date to forget that everyone else exists.”
“Yeah, I’m sorry for that too.” He’s quiet for a moment, watching you work. “Are we still on for this week?”
“Depends.”
“On?”
“On if you have plans.” you look over your shoulder at him. “Because apparently my standing appointment is subject to changes without prior notice.”
Sam rolled his eyes. “Don’t get all fine print on me.”
“Then don’t add fine print. If we have plans, and they change, have the balls to tell me.”
“I will. I promise. And I’m sorry.”
“Mhm.” you turn back to your books. “Blondie sticking around?”
“Jess.” he answers and you can hear the smile. “Her name is Jess, and maybe. I mean, it went good.”
“If blondie hurts you, I’ll kill her.” It’s the best friend thing to say, right? But it’s also the truth. The idea of her being around makes your chest ache. But if she hurt him, if she hurt the single most important person in your life, you’d kill her.
Sam laughed. “Yeah, yeah. And I’ll kill any guy who hurts you.”
“Guess I won’t need to be saving up any money for bail. There is no one.” No one but you, you idiot, and you already hurt me, you think to yourself.
“There will be.” Sam smiles behind you. “You’re a catch. Only an idiot wouldn’t see it and jump at the opportunity.” You scoff at that. “What? It’s true! You’re smart, and beautiful. You care about other people, you’re loyal-”
“To a fault.”
“It’s a good thing.”
“Tell that to my constantly breaking heart.” you mutter.
His smile is gone. “Either someone hurt you, or you are mad.”
Rolling your eyes, you toss a book back at him that he easily catches. “Either help me study or get out.”
Tumblr media
That week had been just you and Sam and you were thankful. There was no mention of blondie, just dinner, drinks and a movie, like old times. Smiling and laughing with your best friend. You wondered if maybe it had been a one time deal. As much as you wanted him to be happy no matter what, he was your best friend after all, a part of you was happy at the idea of her being out of the picture again. Now that you knew how you felt about Sam, you could gauge if he felt the same.
So that was your plan for this week. Figure out if Sam could feel the same.
You were smiling as you headed to your usual restaurant, but you were confused to not see Sam at your usual table at the window. The only time he sat somewhere else was if it was occupied, but it sat empty. Maybe you were early.
Opening the door, you smiled at the waitress before scanning the room. The smile fell fast when you spotted him. He wasn’t sitting at the usual table because he was in a booth along the wall and across from him, blondie.
Slowly, you made your way over. “What’s going on? Did you forget me again?”
Sam smiles up at you and chuckles. “No. I thought maybe we could all hang out this week. You and Jess could get to know each other.” You glanced over at her across from him, and she smiled. “Is that okay?”
“A heads up would have been nice.” you answered. Where were you even supposed to sit, next to her? Hell no. And sitting next to Sam while he’d be looking at her like that felt just as weird.
“Come, sit.” Sam scooted over in the bench, giving you room. With a sigh, you sat. “Jess is in the nursing program.” Sam praised, smiling over at her.
“How lovely.” you answered, grabbing for a menu as Sam continued to talk her up. He was telling you everything about her, her shy smile on him as she chimed in a few times to add or correct something. But he just kept smiling at her, talking about her..
You couldn’t do it. You couldn’t sit here.
Getting up, you headed for the counter. Stopping the waitress there to give her your order and tell her it was to go. A moment later, Sam came over. “What’s going on?”
“Being the third wheel is not on my list of things to do today, Sam. Why am I even here?”
“You’re not the third wheel. You guys are getting to know each other-”
“I’ve been here for ten minutes, and you haven’t said a single thing about me.” you looked over at him, and you knew he could see the pain he caused you again. “It’s all about blondie.”
“Jess.” he corrected.
You roll your eyes and turn back to the counter. “Next time you want to have a date on friend night, just fucking tell me.”
“That’s not what I want-”
“It’s what it feels like. It feels like I’m nothing more than an afterthought. You said you’d kill anyone who hurt me, right?” you look at him again. “You’re hurting me, Sam. You want to date blondie, date her. But don’t turn our time into date time. It’s bullshit, it’s unfair and you know it. I had a shit week, okay? A long shitty week, and all I wanted was to relax with my best friend. Instead, I get to unknowingly sit in on date night.”
“I’m sorry. I guess I didn’t think it through..”
“No, you didn’t. You should have at least told me.”
“Come back. Please? We’ll go for drinks after, and-”
Your order was placed on the counter and you smiled at the waitress as you handed over a few bills. “No, I think I’m just going to head back to the dorms.” you picked up your order and turned to him, a glance going over to Jess as she watched you and Sam. “Enjoy your date, Sam. Call me whenever you’re free to hang out again.” and with that, you left.
Once outside, you turned back and looked into the restaurant windows. You could see him crossing the restaurant, his eyes on you and a look on his face that furrowed his brows and turned down his lips. But then his attention was off of you as he disappeared out of sight and towards the table she was waiting in.
Tumblr media
Your relationship with Sam from then on, was strained. Bullshit conversation starters were sent via text, or online messaging. A ‘hey, how are you doing’ but not much beyond that.
It hurt.
You barely saw him. More often than not, when you did, it was in passing. Walking past him in the hall, or out on campus. A lot of the time he was with her, or on his way out, likely going to see her. You were barely even an afterthought these days.
Your mood only plummeted further as the weeks turned to months.
Then one day, coming back from class, you get to the top of the stairs for your floor and you see him, box in hand, and you freeze. “You’re moving.”
That’s when he seems to notice you’re there, his eyes coming up to meet yours and he smiles sheepishly. “Hey! Yeah. Uh- me and jess.. We got a place off campus.”
“Moving a little fast there, don’t you think, Sam.” you try to keep it light and teasing, try to hide some of the pain. But then you notice something. He’s different, his scent, it’s off. Your brow furrows as you lean in and scent at him. “It’s changed..”
“Yeah, about that..” He shifts the weight of the box. “We mated.”
You feel your heart shattering all over again. He mated her? She’s only been around a few months and he mated her?
“The new place, it’s not that far, so we can still hang-”
“We don’t hang out as it is, Sam, so I doubt it.” you shrug and start away.
“Y/N?”
“Have a nice life, Sam.” you hurry into your room and slam the door just as the tears start to fall. You’re sitting on your bed, head in your hands when the door bursts open and Sam’s storming in. “Get out.”
Ignoring you, he drops his box on your desk. “What the hell is wrong?”
“Get out.”
“Why do you hate me?”
“I don’t hate you.” you sigh, still not looking up. You can’t, you can’t look at him.
“Either you hate me, or you hate her, and you don’t even know her, you refused to get to know her. I thought we were friends!”
“Best friends.” you snap. “At least I thought we were.”
“What the hell is that supposed to mean? I’ve been there for you, I’ve always been there for you.” You laugh at that, giving your head a shake. “What do you mean, no? Up until you started hating me for being happy-”
“I don’t hate you, you fucking idiot. I love you!” you snapped, glaring at him.
“What?”
“I love you. How could you not see it? I’m not mad because you found your mate, Sam. I don’t hate her for being with you. I’m hurt. I’m hurt because while you found your whole world, I lost mine to her.” Sam just started at you. “I stopped being a part of your world and that hurt more than anything. I don’t hear from you, Sam. I get a half hearted text once in a while, and that’s it. You were my person, you were the person I talked to every single day, and suddenly I don’t have that. Every time I accept it, you pop up, and you give me false hope just to vanish again. Three fucking doors down, and not once did you stop by.”
Sam looks down, looks ashamed. Like he’s finally realizing just how long it’s been since he’s seen you face to face, spoken directly to you.
“All I wanted was some of your time. It didn’t have to be every single week, Sam. I just wanted my best friend and I lost him. You have no idea what that’s done to me.”
Hearing you sniffle, Sam looks up, watches the tears streaming down your cheeks. “I’m sorry.”
“Yeah. Me too.” you wipe at your cheeks and turn away from him, ending this conversation, ending this whole encounter. You want him to hold you, to tell you everything will be okay again, but you don't expect him to. You aren’t that close anymore and haven’t been for a while now. So you hope he’ll leave.
You hear him move to the desk, hear his box shift across the papers there, but he doesn’t leave, not right away. “You’re failing..” Turning, you see him looking at one of your last tests, his eyes scanning the page and then looking up at you with a confused look. “How are you failing?”
You shrug. “Don’t exactly have my study buddy anymore, do I?”
“You could have called, I-”
“I did.” you give him a sad, heartbroken smile. “I did call, a week before I had to take that. You were busy. You said you’d call back and you didn’t.”
“Shit.. I must have forgot..”
“Yeah.” You stand there watching him, he's looking at all the other papers on your desk. Papers and tests all graded and showing the steady decline in your work. “You should go, Sam. Blondie’s probably waiting for you. Wouldn’t want to upset your mate.”
“She’d understand if I’m a little late, she-”
“My heat’s due.” his eyes shoot up to meet yours. “Please leave before you make it worse. It’s been bad enough as it is the last few months.”
Sam’s eyes slide over you before he nods, putting down the papers and picking up his box. He quietly stands there for a minute, like he’s trying to figure out what to say, trying to find some way to make it right. But there isn’t. With a pain filled sigh, Sam slowly makes his way out of the room.
Tears stream down your face as you hurry to close the door behind him. Your body shaking with sobs as you lean against the door and cry out your heartache for what feels like the millionth time.
Tumblr media
It’s been a month since he moved in with Jess, a month since he’s seen you. You blocked him online, you didn’t answer his texts when he tried to reach out. It made him realize how you felt all those months.
After the encounter, he’d been upset. He told Jess a quick version, leaving out a few details, basically just told her how he’d forgotten to maintain the relationship he’d had with you in his excitement of meeting her, and it left you feeling alone and depressed. Jess told him to make it right, make it up to you, but he couldn’t, could he. Not really, you loved him, and he was in love with someone else.
But then he remembered what you’d said. You just wanted his time, just wanted to be in his life.
“Jess?” he called out, before getting up and going to find her in the kitchen.
“Yeah?”
“Would you mind if every other Saturday I spent with Y/N? Just me and her?” Jess turned and looked at him. “You guys were right, I neglected her and I need to make it up to her. I hate that she’s not talking to me. It hurts, and I know it’s not even close to how bad I hurt her.”
Jess smiled at him. “No, I don’t mind at all. You should go tell her.”
“I will.” Sam smiled before leaning in to kiss her. “I love you.”
“Love you, too.” she smiled back. As Sam was leaving, she called out “Let her know she can come over any time, and there’s an open diner invitation. I’d really like to properly meet her one day.”
“Will do.” Sam called back before the apartment door closed behind him.
It didn’t take too long for Sam to be hurrying up the stairs in his old dorm building. A smile spread over his face, excited to see you. He’d missed you and he couldn’t wait to surprise you. He hoped that the gesture would be enough to start bridging the gap he’d put between you. He didn’t expect for things to be like they had been, he wasn’t sure it could ever be that again, but he hoped that he could have you back in his life.
He barely knocked on the door before opening it, but once inside, his smile fell. It was empty. The bed stripped bare, the desk empty. No more belongings, no more decorations, it was like no one had ever moved in. It was the right room, he knew it was. He moved around the room, looking for some hint, some clue, but other than a layer of dust, nothing.
“Oh, Hey, Sam.”
Sam turned and found John, the RA. “Where is she?”
John shrugged. “Went home, I think. Said she needed a break from school. She was really struggling.”
“When?”
About three weeks ago?”
Three weeks? You’ve been gone for three weeks and he hadn’t noticed? Sam dropped onto the bed as his mind raced. You left without a word. But then again, he’d done the same thing, right? Moving out of his dorm without ever once mentioning it to you. It was chance that you’d come up the stairs just as he was about to go down them. It was chance that you’d found out. If you hadn’t would he have ever even mentioned it? Or would he forget that like he’d forgotten everything else.
“I really fucked up.” he muttered to himself. “Hey, John? She leave an address or number or anything?”
John shook his head. “Nope. Just let me know she was going. Figured you knew, being her best friend and all.”
“No.. No, I didn't. We haven’t talked much lately..” Sam mumbled. “Thanks, John.” Sam stood, and started out of the room.
“Take it easy, Sam.” John clapped him on the back as he headed past.
“Yeah.. you too..”
There was an ache in chest as he slowly made his way back home. An ache he knew Jess saw as soon as he was in the door. “Sam?”
“She’s gone.. She left, she went back home.. I can’t fix it, Jess. I lost my best friend for good.”
Sam dropped into one of the kitchen chairs as Jess came up behind him and wrapped her arms around his shoulders, her head leaning on the back of his. He pulled out his phone and tried one last time. One last time to reach you and then he’d leave you alone.
<< I’m sorry. I’m sorry I hurt you so bad you had to leave. Please, just let me know you’re okay.
Tumblr media
Heading back home to the midwest had been the best thing you could have done for yourself. You blocked Sam on everything, ignored texts and calls. After about three weeks they stopped and you were finally able to heal, finally able to forget all the pain Sam put you through.
You had contact with a few people you’d known in a few classes. Thankfully none of them mentioned  Sam to you.
Not until they told you about the fire. About Jess.
You found yourself back in Palo Alto, dressed in black and standing with people you barely knew for a girl you never bothered to get to know. She might have been nothing to you, but she’d been everything to Sam. Your heart broke for him. Losing a mate was the hardest thing anyone could go through.
Glancing around, you were surprised he wasn’t there. You expected him to be here, to be with her family as they grieved the loss of their daughter, but he was nowhere to be seen. You looked forward again, watching as people took roses and gently placed them on her coffin. You decided to do the same.
Taking one in your hand, you slowly made your way closer, stepping up just as the person before you stepped away. “I’m sorry.” you whispered quietly. “You didn’t deserve this. I’m sorry, Jess.” Placing the rose with the others, you quietly walked away.
Tumblr media
You were sitting in the bar you had frequented in your time at college. Lifting a drink to your lips, you paused about half way before you set it down and pulled out your phone. Licking your lips, you opened a text chain you had long ago ignored. You hoped he hadn’t changed numbers.
<< I’m sorry for your loss, Sam.
Closing your phone, you put it down and picked up your drink again, downing the last of it before motioning for the bartender to bring you another.
It was about twenty minutes later when you heard a surprised voice behind you. “Y/N?” You turned, and there he was, in a dark suit all funeral ready, and so much pain etched into his face. If you didn’t know better, you’d have thought he’d actually gone to the funeral. Maybe he said his goodbyes alone after everyone else left. “What are you doing here?”
“Heard about the fire. I might not have been friends with her, Sam, but she was everything to you. I came to pay my respects to your mate.”
Sam gave you a half smile at that. “You really would have liked her if you’d have given her a chance. I had hoped you two would be friends too.. Eventually.”
“Maybe we would have. But I was too hurt to try.”
“I know.. I know, I’m sorry. I tried to make things right, I showed up at your dorm but.. You were already gone. I think that’s when I fully realized just how bad I ruined our friendship.” he gave you a sad smile. “Jess had wanted you to come over for dinner.”
“I really am sorry, Sam.”
“I’m just glad you’re here.” The look he gave you, you knew he needed a hug. You turned in your seat and opened your arms for him. Sam happily moved in for the hug, holding you tight against him as if he was afraid you’d leave again. “I’m really happy you’re here.”
“You needed me. How could I stay away.”
When you both pulled away, you cupped his cheek for a moment, and he smiled sadly at you. “I missed you.”
“I missed you, too.”
“Hey, Sammy!”
You turned to the newcomer who stepped up to you and Sam. Sam glanced back at him, and opened his mouth to say something when you spoke first. “Hey, Dean.” That stunned Sam.
“Hey, princess. What are you doing out here?”
“How do you know my brother?” Sam asked, a confused look on his face as he looked from Dean to you.
“That’s your brother?” Sam nodded, and you glanced to Dean, who smirked with a wink. “I didn’t know he was your brother.. Uh- Couple weeks after I left school, Dean was in town. Helped me through a bad heat.” you shrugged. “We talk, I hear from him every few days at least. Meet up when he’s close by. I didn’t know you were coming here.”
“Been here since the fire. I’m the one who pulled Sammy out of the house.”
You looked to Sam. “You were inside.. You saw-” You swallowed at the look on Sam’s face. “Uh- drinks on me tonight.” you turned to the bartender as he handed you your drink. “Make it three.”
“So.” Dean sat in the stool next to you. “The guy you mentioned who loved someone else-”
“Your brother.” You gave Dean a sad smile with a nod. “Yeah.”
Dean turned and looked at his brother. “Is it bad that I’m glad he did?” he teased with a smile. “I got to enjoy the sweet little Omega he let slip away.” Dean licked his lips with a smirk.
“Fuck you, Dean.” Sam snapped, taking up the seat on your other side with a scowl.
As the bartender put the drinks in front of you, you sighed. “Keep ‘em coming.”
“Will do.” he nodded and wandered off.
“So, princess. How long are you in town for?” Dean lifted his drink to his lips.
“Not sure yet, why?”
“Ruts due next week. Was thinking of heading your way for it anyways.” he smiled. Sam growled next to you. “She ain’t yours, Sammy.”
“She ain’t fucking yours, either.” Sam growled before downing his entire glass. “Why her, Dean? Of all the fucking people you’ve fucked, why her?”
You answered before Dean could. “Because I deserve a bit of happiness too, Sam.” The anger he’d been showing melting away to guilt. “I’m sorry it’s your brother, but I have fun when I’m with him. There’s no bullshit, no heartache. I know where I stand.” Sam licked his lips before looking down into his empty glass, and that’s when you turned to Dean. “I’ll stay as long as you need me to if you’re sticking around. If not, we can meet up in the usual place. Just let me know.”
Dean leaned in and kissed your cheek. Sam stood and stormed his way outside, Dean watching him go. “He’s not taking this well.”
“But now he knows what it feels like.” you muttered, lifting your glass. “Feeling like you’ve been replaced and forgotten. Did you meet her?”
“Once.” Dean answered. “She was nice enough.”
“Was he happy?”
“Yeah, he was happy. Was about to interview for the law school.” you glanced over to Dean. “He didn’t go. He’s taking the fire bad, this.. you and me? Just making things harder for him.”
“If he wants to be in my life, he’s going to have to get used to the idea that you’re a part of it now.” you gave Dean a soft smile. “Just like I had to accept that she became his.”
“Where are you staying tonight?”
You chuckled at that, ducking your head down a touch. “I don’t think tonight is such a good idea, Dean.” you looked up again, but glanced to the door Sam had stormed out of. “But I’ll be there for your rut if you want.”
“Oh, I want.” Dean grinned, but then sighed. “I guess I better go after him, huh.”
“Yeah, probably.”
“I’ll call you later.” this time when Dean leaned in, his lips brushed against yours. “See you around, princess. And don’t worry about him. He’ll come around eventually.”
“Yeah.. I hope so.”
Dean downed the rest of his drink before heading out after his brother. You watched him go and sighed softly to yourself. A part of you felt bad. You never expected to get over Sam using his own brother. But at the same time, Dean was so different from Sam. He’d been exactly what you needed. In fact, despite everything today had thrown at you, you found yourself smiling as you looked forward to helping Dean through a rut.
“Can’t seem to shake the Winchesters..”

Summary: Although Omegas had won the legal battle for equal rights, society was slow to catch up. Thought to be the weakest of the genders, they struggled to find opportunities that Alphas and Betas took for granted. Known as the Guillotine, Emmaline Beaumont was woman with a secret. Head of her family's company; she was smart, shrewd, and tough as nails. At sixteen she presented as Omega and she's hidden it ever since. Suppressants and hormone reassignment therapy allowed her to live her life as the Alpha her family needed her to be. The perfect solution, so long as she never allowed herself to be claimed. As the President of Winchester Inc. Dean's professional life was golden.
Pairing: Alpha!Dean x Omega!OFC, Dean x OFC, Dean Winchester x OFC
Characters: Dean Winchester, OFC, Sam Winchester, Jessica Moore, John Winchester, Jody Mills
Warnings: ABO dynamics, Heat/Rut cycles, Smut (Unprotected sex, knotting, oral sex, claiming bites), hurt/comfort, sickfic, hospitals and medical talk, fluff and angst, age difference (Dean is 39, OFC is 27), True mates, self hate (OFC struggles with gender)
Chapter One: Meeting Word Count: 4465
It was autumn in New York City, one of those rare golden days where the sunlight reflected off the trees in a way that made the whole city glow. The leaves had turned colors but not yet dropped. The air was crisp and clear, making it perfect for strolling through the arts fair in downtown Manhattan. It was days like this that reminded locals why they put up with sky-high rent and never-ending winters.
Emma rarely had the time to treat herself to a leisurely afternoon in the city, but with her baby sister’s birthday coming up she needed to find something special. Jess was a bit of a bohemian, and something from a local artist would suit her eclectic tastes perfectly. She wove her way through the white tents, happily slurping her huge, iced coffee. Her earbuds canceled out the ambient noise from the city and her Jackie O styled sunglasses shielded nearly half of her face.
In her track suit and sneakers, no one would mistake her for the high-powered executive she was during her 80-hour work weeks. She was just twenty-three when she took control of her family’s company and quickly built a reputation as a shrewd businesswoman. By her twenty-seventh birthday she had improved profits enough to put them on the Fortune 500 list, making her one of the youngest female CEO’s to ever mark such an achievement.
Anyone observing her petite frame strolling down the street would likely have mistaken her for a college student. None of them would ever guess her best kept secret. Emmaline Beaumont, well-known, confident, ambitious woman in charge of everything was not the cutthroat Alpha she presented to the world. Emma was an Omega.
Omega. The very word was weak in Emma’s mind. Soft, compliant, obedient, submissive, and meek. Poor, little Omegas, incapable of looking after themselves; they couldn’t even tie their own shoes let alone hold positions of power. Not without an Alpha to guide them. The logical part of her knew there was no shame in being an Omega, but that didn’t stop the weight of disappointment she felt from her parents when she presented at sixteen.
The law had changed to grant the long-subjugated Omegas equal rights, but society was slow to catch up. Many Alphas still viewed Omegas as their property. George and Analise Beaumont wanted better for their daughter. They wanted her to have choices, to give her the opportunity to decide her own fate. There weren’t many doctors willing to engage in the legal grey area of hormone suppression and reassignment, but the Beaumonts found one. Doctor Lancaster was well compensated for his discretion. He kept Emma on closely monitored hormone therapy that caused her heat cycles to stop and altered her scent to fool even the most virile Alpha.
So long as she kept her mating encounters to Betas only and followed the doctor’s strict instructions, Emma could live her life as an Alpha. Large and in charge. Head of her family’s company, smart and strong enough to defend it against any threat. No one would be the wiser. The family secret kept only by her sister and Doctor Lancaster now that her parents were gone.
There was, of course, one exception that could overcome the medical science and the years of careful planning. True mates. Mostly considered folklore and fairy tales, few people believed in them these days. She had never seen a real-life example of it personally, but she liked to hope. It would never be in the cards for her, but why should others be denied a chance at that kind of happiness?
Emma stopped in front of a display of blown glass globes. A kaleidoscope of colors and sizes. Witches Balls: hang in your window to ward off evil spirits and bad fortune. A smile curved her lips, her little sister was into all kinds of magical stuff. Jess had carried a deck of tarot cards in her purse and stuffed crystals down her bra since she was a teenager. She lived her life with her head in the clouds, dreaming romantic notions and looking for signs from the universe. If Stevie Nicks had a doppelganger that was nearly six foot tall and in her early twenties, that would be Jessica Beaumont. She would probably be reading palms in San Francisco if Emma hadn’t put her to work in the marketing department of Beaumont Enterprises. The Beaumont sisters were as different as night and day, both in looks and in disposition. But that didn’t stop them from being best friends.
She was contemplating the selection when she was hit by the most intense, indescribable feeling. It was as if all the oxygen left the atmosphere, making it impossible to breathe. Every nerve in her body was vibrating with awareness, like a plucked guitar string. Her skin erupted in goosebumps. The air was electric, super charged. She looked around and was frankly shocked no one else seemed to notice it. It wasn’t until the cramp ripped through her stomach that she recognized it. It had been over a decade since she’d experienced it. She was in heat!
Oh God, this is all wrong! This is bad, very, very bad! Catastrophic! Fuck!
Emma was frantically fumbling through her purse to call her sister when another cramp tore through her. The force of it knocked her sideways, causing her sunglasses to clatter to the ground. She grabbed the display table to steady herself. Vaguely, she could hear people asking if she was alright, if she needed help. Emma couldn’t reply. Her body was no longer her own as the dormant Omega within stirred to life. Rational thought was lost to her, replaced by instinct. Her eyes desperately combed the crowd, searching for someone she didn’t know she had been missing. The scent hit first, the most perfect combination of sharp pine and leather held inside a cedar chest. Earthy, calming, and reminiscent of a home she’d never been to before. It soothed and aroused her at the same time.
When he suddenly appeared, it was as if time stopped. His very presence eclipsed everything. No one else existed, just him. The Alpha, her Alpha. Broad shoulders, narrow waist, long legs. Her heart sped up as he strode towards her, power and purpose in every step. The crowd of on-lookers parted, wisely giving him wide berth. Interfering with an Alpha seeking out a potential mate was dangerous under the best circumstances.
Lord, he’s tall. She realized when he came to stand before her. Maybe it was the hormones talking, but he was far and away the most attractive man she’d ever seen. Square jaw covered in a neatly trimmed beard and sculpted cheekbones dusted with faint freckles. But oh, his eyes. The most intense shade of clear green, framed by faint laugh lines. Delightful crinkles etched by smiling. He wasn’t smiling now, he looked like he wanted to devour her in the street. He closed his eyes briefly and his nostrils flared as he inhaled deeply.
When he opened his eyes again, they had darkened, his pupils blown with lust. His intoxicating scent swirled around her and when he spoke her entire body flushed hot with fever. “Omega.”
Dean hated New York City. It was overcrowded and overrated in his opinion. He much preferred the down to Earth, blue collar vibe of Chicago. There was just something about the Midwest that spoke to him. It wasn’t pretentious or pompous. It was real and it was home. Whenever he had to spend time in the Big Apple, he made sure to book a room with a decent view and access to Central Park. It was the only place in the whole damned city he felt he could breathe. It had been a hellishly long week of meetings and negotiations, but his perseverance and skill won out. Deals were struck, contracts signed, and he now was booked for the last flight into O’Hare. It left him just enough time to get in a decent run and a shower before he headed to the airport.
Not that he had to hurry home for anyone in particular. He had his family, of course. His father John retired a few years back when a heart attack sent him packing to a quiet house in the country. Dean had spent his life being groomed to take over Winchester Incorporated. Now, running the family business with his little brother Sam, he couldn’t imagine doing anything else. The Winchester name was famous and feared in the world of high finance. Yet for all of his professional success, Dean knew there was a part of his life that was unfulfilled. He had yet to take a mate, which was almost unheard of for an Alpha just one year shy of the big four oh. Alphas needed to claim a mate to avoid going feral. It was a very real possibility and Dean could feel the change already, his ruts were growing more intense and more frequent with each passing year.
But he was willing to risk it for a while longer, just to find her. His Omega, his true mate. The one woman meant especially for him. He knew it was a long shot, but he was a man to play the odds if it meant getting what he wanted. Dean had seen real love up close; his parents had been true mates. They had been perfect for each other and deeply in love, even after twenty years of marriage. It wasn’t long after his mother lost her battle with breast cancer that his father’s health declined. There was a part of Dean that wondered if losing his mate had brought it on.
So there is was. Dean Winchester; virile Alpha, ruthless businessman who dismantled companies and ruined rivals was in fact, a hopeless romantic.
He was three miles in and halfway through Led Zeppelin IV when he caught a scent that stopped him dead in his tracks. Light and sweet with a hint of tart, green apple. It wasn’t strong, but it was distinct. One of the reasons he found New York so stifling was the close quarters, it made for a strange mix of aromas, none of them complimentary or pleasant. Dean inhaled deeply and the Alpha inside growled in response. He spun on his heel and jogged off towards the source of that tantalizing smell. He wove his way through throngs of people, taking no notice of them, he was a man on a mission. The closer he got, the more desperate he became. He had to find her, claim her, his Omega. The scent was taunting him, it never got stronger but more complex. He could make out warm vanilla and flowers he couldn’t remember the name of, although he was certain his mother had them growing in the back garden when he was a child. It was the scent of home, his home. His Omega.
Dean would comb the entire city of New York on foot if he had to, he was nothing if not determined. A hunter to the last, never giving up until he found his prey. As fate would have it, he only had to travel five blocks. She stood completely still as people moved around her, staring at him with huge, wide eyes. Her long, dark hair tumbling over her shoulders, her mouth full and unpainted. He had always wondered who she would be, what she would look like, what she would feel like. Whatever image he had conjured up in mind over the years paled in comparison to the woman before him. To say she was beautiful didn’t come close to doing her justice. It was so much more than that and somehow simpler, she was perfect. She was his perfect mate, made for him as he was for her. The very thought of it settled him and sent his heart racing at the same time.
He didn’t remember those last few steps to reach her, suddenly she was there, right in front of him. He closed his eyes and inhaled, filling his lungs with the best scent in the world.
“Omega.”
“Alpha,” she breathed in response, then whimpered as another strong cramp took hold.
Oblivious to the crowd of strangers watching the intimate moment, Dean swept her up into his arms and took off at a steady clip towards his hotel. The Alpha was completely in charge now. He took no notice of the startled gasps or speculative glances of the people he passed as he carried her through the city streets. All he cared about was that he had his Omega, and she was in heat. Taking care of her was his only concern and nothing was going to stand in his way.
Emma wrapped her arms around the Alpha’s neck and held tight. She was grateful he was carrying her because the pain in her belly would have knocked her to her knees by now. It was white hot and twisted like an invisible knife. Although she only had one other heat cycle to compare this to, she was certain it hadn’t been this bad. Lord, she was hot! Like she was standing on the surface of the sun. Sweat soaked through her clothes and plastered them to her body. The only thing that gave any relief was the scent of her Alpha, she nuzzled into his neck as close as she could. It enveloped her in a delightful haze, clouding her mind.
“Hang on tight, Omega. I’m going to take care of you,” he rumbled deeply in her ear. “I’m going to take care of everything.”
His words sent a shiver of anticipation down her spine and caused slick at the juncture of her thighs. She squirmed slightly and boldly pressed her lips to his neck, nipping at the pulse hammering there. God, he tastes as good as he smells!
“Alpha,” she whispered, her voice pleading.
Dean tightened his grasp and quickened his pace. His mind barely registering that he had reached his hotel. He wasn’t due for a rut, but with his mate now in his arms, he was close enough. He paid no mind to the clerk at the front desk, heading straight for the elevator. When the stainless-steel doors opened revealing a wide-eyed Beta male in a tweed suit, Dean snarled in warning. No Alpha tolerates another male getting close to their Omega in heat, even if they pose no real threat. The Beta wisely held up his hands in surrender and quickly vacated the area.
Once Dean had them safely sealed inside the lift, he crushed his mouth to hers, sending fresh waves of desire through them both. Harsh and hurried, demanding and aggressive. What the kiss lacked in subtly, it more than made up for in passion. When he swept his hot tongue inside her mouth, she groaned in appreciation and need. He still could only catch the faint wisp of her delicate scent but smell of slick arousal was growing thicker by the second.
By the grace of God, he got them to his room without further interference. The door slammed shut and automatically locked behind them. Emma shifted in his arms, wrapping her legs around his waist and kissed every inch of his skin she had access to. She felt drugged, high on the endorphins flooding her system. All thought and logic had gone, leaving pure instinct behind. She had never felt this way before, so consumed by the need to mate. Although she had only been with Betas, something told her that this response wasn’t just because he was an Alpha, it was because he was her Alpha. To her true mate, she was beginning to see what all the fuss was about. The pull was as strong as gravity and just as impossible to deny.
Dean carried her through to the bedroom and lowered her to the mattress. He hovered above her, taking a moment to gaze into the eyes of the woman he had search his whole life for. Blue eyes, dark as midnight and flecked with gold. Desire was there, of course. But there was a glint of challenge he hadn’t expected. Omegas were meant to submit to their Alphas. It was a dynamic as old as time and one he knew well. There was something wild in this Omega, something that begged to be tamed and Dean was up to the task. Oh, she was going to be fun!
He grinned, his white teeth gleaming as he made his way down her body. He refused to free her of her clothes, even though he was eager to see the Omega in all her glory, he waited. She was a gift he was determined to take his time enjoying it. Instead, he ran his hands over her slowly, inch by inch. Feeling her curves and concaves through the layers of cotton. He paused as his hands spanned her ribcage just under her breasts. When his thumb caressed her nipples through the fabric, she arched her back and moaned.
“Alpha, please.”
Ignoring her pleas, he tweaked the hardened peaks slightly before moving on. Narrow waist flared out into generous hips. Body like a backroad, he thought approvingly. His fingers traced her thighs, the back of her knees, down to delicate ankle bones. Her breath became more labored as he teased her, purposely ignored the one part of her anatomy that she most wanted attending to.
Emma was growing impatient and restless. The Omega was urgently mewing inside, searching for relief from the heat that was consuming her. He wanted her; she could feel it when the bulge in his pants brushed against her. What the hell is he waiting for?! Desperate to prompt him into giving her what she wanted, she bucked her hips. Hoping to tempt him with her slick.
In a flash, Dean was on top of her. His hands clamped her wrists down on either side of her head with bruising strength, his body pinned her to the mattress. She couldn’t move if she wanted to. “Now, now. None of that, little Omega,” he murmured into her ear. She groaned in response; her eyes fluttering shut.
Desperate for any sort of friction against her fevered body, Emma drew a deep breath, causing her ribs to expand. Her breasts strained inside her bra, pressing against the firm chest above her. She knew how to use her attributes to entice a mate and when the hungry growl sounded in the back of his throat, she knew she’d succeeded. She turned her mouth towards his but didn’t kiss him. Instead, she pouted prettily and breathed, “Alpha… need you.”
Dean didn’t miss the smirk that played around her lips, this was hardly a submission. She knew exactly what she was doing. Little minx! Fire sparked when her gaze met his, “You’re mine. Only mine.”
She wasn’t prepared for him to move so quickly and so smoothly. Suddenly, her hoodie was gone as well as the cotton camisole underneath. Even her bra was whisked away, leaving her exposed. She relished the cool air on her fevered skin only for a moment before the Alpha replaced it with his hot mouth. He was everywhere, testing and tasting every inch of vulnerable flesh. He traced a fiery path of open-mouthed kissed between her breasts all the way to her stomach. The scruff of his beard scraped in a way that was so pleasant and distracting that when he changed tactics and latched on to one her hardened nipples, she gasped in shock.
It was exquisite, leisurely torture that seemed to go on forever. Her Alpha was certainly not a man to be hurried. His attentions never wavered, no matter how she tried to tempt him and that only served to frustrate her. Stubborn man! He simply refused to go where she wanted him to. The slick was pooling now, no doubt soaking through everything as the burning in her belly grew. She was needy, frantic for his touch.
Suddenly, he brought his hand to cup her firmly through her pants. She arched against his palm, and it was his turn to smirk. He was definitely the one in control now. “There’s my good girl, so wet for me already.”
The rest of her clothes were torn away, leaving her naked and exposed while he was still fully clothed. The message was loud and clear. He was strong, powerful, and irrefutable. It was in Emma’s nature to resist anyone trying to control her. She played the part of Alpha every day. She knew what was expected of her in that role. Hell, she enjoyed it.
To now be the one expected to submit, was foreign and a bit scary. It was possible that after all this time, she didn’t know how to be an Omega. Maybe she had denied her true nature for too long, maybe she would be a disappointment.
However, there was one element that she had failed to consider. The Alpha would take care of her, that was his primary role. No one had ever done that for her before and the Omega inside craved it desperately.
She trembled slightly as Dean’s large, calloused hands roamed over her body. When his eyes searched hers, he saw a flicker of vulnerability. At last, the inner battle between her will and her desire was resolved, and she submitted.
“So beautiful, so perfect,” he praised as he slipped a thick finger inside her throbbing core, probing gently while his thumb rubbed circles around that tight bundle of nerves. He crooked his finger and her velvet walls tightened around him, coating his hand in fresh slick.
“I’m going to make you feel good, ‘Mega,” he kept his pace, adding a second finger while he nuzzled her throat. His tongue lapped at the juncture of her neck and shoulder where her scent gland was hidden just beneath the skin. He could feel her getting close as she fluttered around his fingers.
Every brush of his fingers lit fires. Every touch of his lips was like a brand on her skin. Emma writhed under his attentions, delicious tension building low in her belly. She was teetering on the edge, desperate for the release he was driving her towards. “Alpha…oh God…”
“Come for me, sweetheart,” he commanded, and she obeyed. The orgasm came hard and fast. Her body flooded with pleasure and any remaining pain was washed away. The intensity of it had her eyes rolling back in her head. She was still coming down from the euphoric cloud when she noticed he was now naked as well. Tanned skin stretched taut over well-defined muscles. Lord, he was big. Every part of him was big. Her gaze traveled over broad shoulders, powerful arms, wide chest, lean hips. The sheer size of his erection had her whimpering, greedy with need.
Dean was soon on top of her again, this time his hard length brushed against her folds while his breath was hot in her ear, “I’m going to knot you, ‘Mega mine. Knot you, claim you.” His teeth grazed her throat again, mixing danger and desire. “Is that what you want?”
Unable to find her voice, Emma raked her hands through his short hair and bucked up against him.
Not satisfied, he raised his head to look deeply into her eyes. His arms and legs creating a cage around her body. There would be no going back after this, he had to be sure for both their sakes. “Say it,” his command was gruff. “You have to say it, Omega.”
Perhaps it was the Omega within her responding to a direct command from an Alpha. In a surprising moment of clarity, she looked into the deep, green eyes of the man who had appeared out of the blue. The man whose voice had her shaking with need and whose touch brought her to oblivion. Logic, reason, common sense all seemed so insignificant, overshadowed by instinct. Everything was remarkably clear. “I want you. Claim me, I’m yours. Only yours.”
“My Omega. Mine,” he smiled softly and brushed his lips over hers so tenderly that when he stood up, she nearly cried out at the loss of contact.
“Present, Omega.”
Emma obeyed again, flipping over onto her knees and elbows, she arched her back and thrust her rear up towards him. She hissed as the cool air hit her hyper-sensitive core. His hands were on her again, caressing the curve of her ass, following the line of her hip. He lined himself up and filled her with one powerful thrust. She cried out then, it was sweet agony.
Dean stilled his movements, giving her a moment to adjust and giving himself a moment to breathe. Christ, she’s tight!
When she shifted her hips, he took that as his cue and began to pump. Slow at first, savoring each sensation, each gasp and moan of pleasure that came from them both as he filled her time and time again. Soon his control gave way all together and, in its place, he gained momentum. His knot swelled with each thrust and began to catch.
Dean sucked and licked furiously at the base of her neck, preparing the spot that would bear his mark. “You take my knot so good, ‘Mega… we’re almost there, almost there…”
Emma’s hand fisted the sheets as he picked up the pace, each time he buried himself to the hilt she cried out for more. Her experiences with Betas did little to prepare her for an Alpha. Dean was reaching places no one else had come close to. With each pass, she felt herself tighten around him. “Need it… Alpha… need your knot… need you…”
When Dean felt himself reach the peak he was striving towards, he sunk his teeth deep into her tender skin. His knot popped and locked them together as he came harder than he ever had in his life. Waves of blissful pleasure washed over him, and he lazily pumped a few more strokes to fully empty his seed into his Omega.
Emma nearly blacked out from the mix of sensations that rushed through her body when he claimed her. Pleasure so sharp it was painful. Her mind was a complete haze, barely registering the Alpha cradling her close as he eased them onto their sides. He ran his tongue over the fresh claim over and over again, the wet, warmth of it soothing the bite. Were she capable of coherent thought, she would have tried to fight sleep so not to miss a moment of this event that would change everything. As it was, exhaustion quickly pulled her under and she fell asleep feeling cherished and completely protected.

Omegas are dwindling in the civilization packs, resulting in a depleted race. Castiel Novak is an omega, and since they're becoming increasingly rare, there was a law to protect them. Alpha Zachariah Novak put that in, up until he died and had to hand over the title of lead alpha to Michael, who everyone hated. He wreaked havoc and made it so omega's we're breeders, resulting in Castiel having to run away with his brother, Lucifer, to keep him safe. They went into the Forest, infamous for its legends and stories of people who went in and never came out. Revenge is all that's stuck on Castiel's mind, revenge on all alpha's who deserve it. But, is there something—or someone—in the forest to aid him or to stop him?

You didn't stop moving your pussy against Jess' as the boys surrounded you, and even followed the camera with your eyes when Dean pulled his phone to take a picture of you two.
"Come on, you," Sam wrapped his arms around your waist, lifting you from Jess. "Let's give our girl a minute."
"Oh, look at you," Dean cooed her, moving to caress her face, drying her tears. "Did she overwhelm you, Omega? Did our mean Omega try to fuck you silly?"
Jess whined.
"'eeeeean."
Sam sat you on his lap, and it was your turn to whine, trying to squirm away from his grip.
"Correction, Dean. She succeeded in fucking her silly," he grabbed your hips. "Baby girl, she can't even talk properly."
You pouted and your Alpha laughed.
"I'm not done," you protested.
"See, that's why Omegas can’t fuck each other alone," he told you. "They'd fuck themselves exhausted. Look at her, poor little Jess."
She lay across his lap, and closed her legs shut when Dean moved a hand near her pussy.
"Awn, baby. Was it too much?"
Jess nodded and you pouted.
Well, she wasn't asking you to stop!
"I guess someone's gonna have to give her a bath," Dean sighed, and it was obvious that it was going to be him.
"Hey, Dean," Sam huffed a little.
Your husband turned to him.
"I can take care of my Omega too, Sam," he reminded him. "And you got your hands full of the naughty one while I clean up our overwhelmed baby."
Sam moved his hand to caress your bump, shaking his head as Dean carried Jess away, and made you look at him when you pouted and huffed.
"Why didn't you tell us you were horny, baby?" he moved his hand to your tits, pinching one of your nipples. "Look at you, all messy."
You half-whined and half-huffed.
"You two never let us play together," you pouted. "She is my Omega too. I should be able to fuck her too."
"I know... but you need to rest and focus on the baby," he caressed your belly.
What, just because you were pregnant, it meant you couldn't be horny anymore?
When was that energy when they mated you?
"I wanted to eat her pussy," you whined. "Sammy!"
He put a finger underneath your chin, kissing your lips softly.
"Poor little Omega," he cooed. "Was it a craving, baby?"
You nodded, and he moved his fingers to caress your face.
"You were so tired lately," he spoke softly. "It's important that you rest."
"But I'm not tired anymore!" you protested.
Sam raised his eyebrows, looking at your face.
"You're not, baby?" he scratched your chin. "You're horny now, aren't you? It's why your pussy is leaking all over my jeans."
You pouted, though not fighting anymore, all of your domineering melting away now that Alpha was taking charge.
"Did you make yourself cum when you were using our little Omega, baby girl?" he picked you up, walking to the couch. "Or were you too focused on making her smart brain leak all over our couch?"
You shook your head, and he clicked his tongue.
"Maybe that's what you need," he decided, laying you on the couch. "To get a good knot in your pussy and be fucked silly yourself to settle, uh?"
You spread your legs widely, feeling your thighs already coated with your slick.
"Alpha," you whimpered.
Sam pulled his cock out, tapping onto your pussy with it.
You squirmed, and gasped when he pushed his cock into your pussy, moaning above you.
"So fucking wet, our needy little Omega," he grunted. "Thinking she could fuck our Omega dumb without us."
You moaned, closing your eyes.
There was nothing bigger and more filling than an Alpha's cock.
Sam pulled back and pushed into you again, making your tits bounce a bit.
"You can't stop yourself, little Omega," he grunted. "It's why you need us."
He moved his hand down, rubbing your clit, and you closed your eyes, crying out in pleasure.
"Would have fucked Jess until you were both exhausted if we didn't come back home, wouldn't you?" he shook his head. "Silly horny baby."
You pouted.
"But Sammy," you whined, moaning, closing your eyes.
He rubbed you a little tighter.
"Now I gotta fuck you to exhaustion," he told her. "Maybe that will teach you a lesson, uh?"
You closed your eyes, too horny to answer as you felt your orgasm building up already.
"Cum for me, little Omega," he commanded. "I know you need it."
You cried out, eyes practically crossing as you rode your orgasm, and Sam grunted as he fucked you through it.
"That's right, baby," he coaxed you. "Squeeze around my cock. Feels so fucking good."
Sam's moans grew, and you braced yourself for his knot, but it didn't come.
Instead, your Alpha slowed down, fucking you deep with each thrust, and he leaned down to kiss your lips deeply before kissing his way down your neck and then your chest.
"Did she suck your pretty tits, Omega?" he asked, squeezing your breast. "Is that why she was dripping milk all over herself?"
You whined.
"So messy," he mocked you, pinching your nipple, and you arched your chest to his chest. "And so eager, my little Omega..."
Your tits ached with his teasing, still full.
"Please, Alpha," you begged him.
Sam licked his lips.
"Please what?" he twisted your nipple.
You squirmed.
"Suck my tits?" you whined.
Sam smiled.
"Of course, little baby," he cooed.
He moved to your chest, sucking on your nipple and you both moaned together.
"Missed your delicious milk so much," he squeezed your breast. "And so warm from the source, my Omega."
You cried in pleasure, so close again.
You knew the boys would practically compete for your milk once your daughter was here.
"Sam," you whined. "I'm gonna cum again."
He moved his lips away.
"Cum for me then, baby," he commanded. "Cum with your Alpha sucking your tits."
You did, full breasts squirting some milk as you cried under Sammy.
He sucked your tits as you rode your high in complete bliss, crying as he fucked you with no urgency to stop.
"Sam," you panted.
"Take my cock like a good Omega," he growled. "Just take it, baby, no need to think."
You moaned, throwing your head back.
Fuck, he really was going to fuck you silly, wasn't he?
He fucked and fucked you until you came again, and you cried when he didn't stop.
"Sammy," you protested.
Fuck, it was too much. He was relentless, unstopping.
You were burning, clenching and trembling under him, nipples oversensitive as he sucked them, pussy overwhelmed as he fucked it.
"I can't," you cried. "It's too much, please. Sam!"
But he didn't stop, the big meany he was.
"One more, baby," he coached you, fingers rubbing your clit, and you cried when you felt his touch. "Your Alpha needs to feel you cum as I knot you."
You arched your body to his, needy and overwhelmed at the same time. touch.
"I can't," you cried. "It's too much, Sam, I-"
"You can do it, baby," he pressed harder onto you. "You're such a good Omega, you will never deny me such a sweet thing."
All you could do was moan and cry as he fucked and used you, and your eyes filled with tears as you reached another orgasm, triggering his own at last.
His knot filled you to the point of just making you feel complete, and you finally, finally, felt like you had enough, like you were satiated.
Sam picked you up, and you wrapped your arms around his shoulders, letting Sam carry you into your bedroom while still locked right inside you.
"There you are," Dean reacted when he opened the door.
You looked back at him and found your husband cuddling Jess, knotting her from behind.
"Is our Omega settled, Sammy?" he asked softly, petting her hair. "Did she learn her lesson"?
Sam looked at you, and you nodded tiredly.
"I've learned my lesson," you pouted.
They chuckled, and you knew they both didn't believe you, but Sam lied you down anyway.
"I thought you said you were just taking a bath?" he asked.
Dean shrugged.
"Well, she couldn't resist me."
"He's so needy," Jess affirmed sleepily, reaching for you and cuddling you from behind. "Just like you."
You flushed.
"I'm sorry," you mumbled.
But she just buried her face into your neck.
"I would tell you if I didn't like it," she squeezed you. "Now we sleep. I don't plan on walking for at least twelve hours."
Sam chuckled behind you.
"You two really do deserve one another," he caressed your back. "Good thing you have us to balance your energy."
You pouted.
It would be much easier for them to bend than for you to do so, you knew that.
You held Jess' hand, kissing it, and closed your eyes, relaxing and ready to fall asleep.
You were startled awaken, however, when you felt something new and strange.
"Wait," you gasped. "I think she just kicked!"

To The Victor Chapter One - Meeting
Pairing: Alpha!Dean x Omega!OFC, Dean x OFC, Dean Winchester x OFC
Characters: Dean Winchester, OFC, Sam Winchester, Jessica Moore, John Winchester, Jody Mills
Warnings: ABO dynamics, Heat/Rut cycles, Smut (Unprotected sex, knotting, oral sex, claiming bites), hurt/comfort, sickfic, hospitals and medical talk, fluff and angst, age difference (Dean is 39, OFC is 27), True mates, self hate (OFC struggles with gender)

To The Victor Masterlist

To The Victor Chapter Two - Tell Me Your Name

Emma wasn’t sure how long she slept, but damn if it wasn’t the best sleep of her entire life. Sunlight streaked through the gap in the curtains suggested it was morning, or maybe afternoon? Who cares? Her body felt delightfully used, tiny aches and twinges reminded her of a night spent having the most intense sex of her life. She stretched languidly, like a lazy cat that got the cream. When her movements met resistance, she froze. The warm, hard body pressed up against her back brought a Cheshire grin to her lips. One of his massive legs was thrown over both of hers and the arm wrapped around her waist held her firmly in place. Possessive, even in sleep. Emma ghosted her fingers over the hand resting against her stomach. Strong hands, dusted in faint freckles and light, golden hair. Talented too if last night was any indication.
I wonder what else he can do with his hands…
The voice in her ear was deep and husky from sleep, “That tickles.”
“Sorry,” she murmured, turning over in his grasp so she could face him. “I didn’t mean to wake you.”
His eyes were half-mast, and he gave her a sleepy smile, “Mmm, it’s okay. Good way to wake up.” He rubbed his hand up and down her back, not yet ready to release her from his arms “You sleep good?”
She nodded, feeling inexplicably shy. It was beginning to dawn on her that she was well and truly mated to a stranger. Emma was used to initiating her sexual encounters, being the Alpha and staying in control. Most of them were brief and casual, her professional life didn’t leave room for much else. This was a whole different deck of cards. Doubts that were pushed aside in the vcdr4 night were now edging forward in the light of day.
Although the bond between them was still fresh, Dean could feel her unease. There was worry there. “’Mega? What’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” was the quick reply, not wanting to upset him. “I just didn’t want to ruin the mood… bathroom.” She said with a self-deprecating eye roll.
He studied her face intensely then grunted and let the subject drop for the moment. “Yeah, of course.”
She leaned in and gave him an enthusiastic kiss before extracting herself from his hold.
Dean watched her slide gracefully out of the bed. Semi-hard just catching a glimpse of her naked form before she scooped up his discarded t-shirt from the floor. It swallowed her small frame, sadly obscuring her fantastic curves from his view. He couldn’t help himself from reaching out and catching her hand. When she turned to look down at him, his heart stopped. God, she’s beautiful. Her dark hair was tangled, lips swollen, eyes luminous. She looked like an angel.
“Tell me your name, ‘Mega mine.”
She a warm blush crept into her cheeks and her stomach fluttered. ‘Mega mine. He had called her that last night. Somehow it hadn’t even crossed her mind that they never got around to exchanging names. She smiled softly, “It’s Emma.”
A feeling of rightness settled within him as he toyed with her slender fingers. He was certain he would remember this moment for the rest of his life. The rest of his life with her.
“Emma,” he grinned, testing the feel of it. He brought her hand to his lips, keeping eye contact while he brushed a tender kiss across her knuckles. “I’m Dean.”
On the surface, it was innocent, taken right from the pages of any fairytale. Yet somehow, this gesture was far more intimate than what they had shared last night. No one had ever been so soft with her, so romantic. In that moment, she felt treasured.
God, he’s beautiful. He looked up at her like a knight pledging his life to his queen. She sank back down onto the mattress and studied his face, committing it to memory. It was so hard to explain, the connection, the feeling deep down in her soul that this was her mate. She knew him in this life and would know him in the next. Yet, he was a stranger. So much to discover, so much to come! How wonderful!
She ran her hand over his beard-covered cheek, and she pressed a kiss to his lips, “Hi, Dean.”
“Hi,” he returned, chuckling when she bit her lip and blushed deep pink all the way up to the roots of her hair.
The things he could do to her just saying one word! Emma slid off the bed as her fanciful musings were interrupted by her insistent bladder. “I, ah. I’ll just be a minute.”
Dean followed the sway of her hips with great appreciation as she crossed the room, shutting the bathroom door behind her. “Emma,” he said to himself as he laced his fingers together behind his head and leaned against the headboard. “My Omega.”
A quick search of the elegant bathroom produced toothpaste and a hairbrush. Small bars of hotel soap emblazoned with a familiar crest caught her attention. The Ritz Carlton.
Well at least now I know where I am.
Emma had to laugh at herself as she tried to work through the tangled mess on top of her head. She hadn’t given it a second thought when Dean carried her through the streets. He could have taken her anywhere, after all, he was a stranger. Now here she was trying to piece together information about him before her heat took over and clouded her mind again. She picked up a bottle of expensive cologne from the vanity and gave it a tentative sniff. Subtle, clean, and complimentary to his natural scent.
Nice to know my Alpha has decent taste. God… my Alpha! How did that happen?!
The reflection staring back at her was a far cry from the sleek businesswoman she projected during the work week. This woman was wanton, rumpled. Dean’s heady scent clung to her skin. Small bruises on her hips where he had dug in his fingers. Kiss-swollen lips. Mouth-shaped marks on her throat, breasts, and collarbone where he had sucked and nipped. She was a mess, but damn if she didn’t look and feel more alive than she ever had in her life!
Her fingers went to the raised mark on her neck where Dean had claimed her. It should be tender, but it wasn’t. Her Alpha had done a good job cleaning it, hardly any blood was left behind. She should be upset, nervous, at uncertainty this would bring, the upheaval in her life. Perhaps that would come later.
Emma never expected to be claimed, she certainly never expected to like it. She committed herself to being an Alpha, to running her family’s business, to doing what was expected of her. Her work was her life. Some would call it an obsession, but to her it was duty. It never occurred to her that there was another choice. There was never any time to dwell on it, perhaps that was by design. If she never allowed herself to wonder about what if, then she would never ache for something she would never have.
It wasn’t supposed to happen, yet here she was. A claimed Omega. She had been warned against it by her parents and the family doctor who had altered her presented status when she was just sixteen. It was supposed to be dangerous. Hell, it was supposed to be lethal.
Were they wrong or had they just lied to her all these years? Because she didn’t feel like she was on death’s doorstep. She felt more powerful and sure of herself now than she ever did pretending to be something else. The fear and uncertainty never came, instead Emma felt completely settled. As if she had an answer to a question never asked. If this was what being claimed meant, how could it be a bad thing?
It wasn’t going to be easy; it was going to complicate everything. Emma grinned and her cheeks flushed with excitement as she thought of the Alpha waiting for her to return. What a delightful complication it was!
Dean was scouring the room service menus when she returned. Grey sweatpants slung low on his hips, he had his back to her, and he didn’t turn at her approach. She paused, quietly taking the opportunity to observe. Details of him that escaped her notice in the throes of passion were prominent now. Those sweet freckles were scattered across the tanned skin of his shoulders. They added a softness to muscles she knew to be firm and unyielding. His long legs were bowed, and his feet were bare. Dark blonde hair spiked in tufts due to sweat and her tugging on it in her urgency. He turned slightly and she could see his lips moving a bit, his brows scrunching up as he considered the breakfast options.
Emma leaned against the doorframe and smiled fondly. Gosh, he’s cute!
At last, sensing her stare, Dean looked up and snapped the menu book closed as if he had been caught reading something he shouldn’t. “Hey! So, I was thinking full breakfast, bacon, waffles, the works. Then I thought you might like pizza, or we could go all out and have surf ‘n turf. They’ve got salads too, if you’re into rabbit food.”
Christ, Dean! Stop babbling, you sound like a freaking teenager!
Damn if he didn’t feel like one too. His heart sped up and his palms got sweaty just looking at her. Wearing his shirt and his mark. His.
“Anything you want, Omega” he chuckled, giving himself over to the feeling of Cupid’s arrow in his heart. He spread his arms wide, as if to encompass the world. “I’ll give you anything.”
The Alpha’s pledge was not lost on Emma and the Omega within sighed happily. She was a capable woman; she never needed a man, Alpha or no. Her self-reliance and independence were qualities she prided herself on. Built her company on, built her reputation on, built her whole life on. Yet, she couldn’t deny how nice it felt to have someone else take over, even if for something as simple as getting dinner.
“Dessert.”
Mesmerized, he watched her saunter towards him in that confident way women did when they tapped into their sexual power. In moments like this, he could easily see how Cleopatra had gotten Caesar to do her bidding. Dean would surely topple empires for his Omega.
Emma slid her palms up his chest as his arms came around her. “You’ve got a taste for something sweet?” he asked.
“Pie.” She grinned, eyes dancing, her tongue peeking out from between her teeth.
He chuckled at the quick reply, “My favorite, we must be made for each other.”
She dropped her gaze to focus on the constellation like freckles scattered across his collarbones. She knew it deep in her gut and it was reinforced every time she saw him, touched him. Dean was her Alpha. It was as certain to her as the sun rise, yet there was a nagging doubt in her mind. Not everyone believed in true mates. Hell, until a few hours ago, she would have doubted it herself.
“You feel it too then?” She meant to sound sultry and confident. Instead, it came out vulnerable and shy. Absurd, considering the night they had spent together. Maybe it was the bond coming from the claim, maybe it her inner Omega nature. She simply couldn’t pretend with him.
“I caught your scent five blocks away and when I saw you… there’s not a doubt in my mind. There is no one else. We’re true mates, Emma.” He crooked his finger under her chin, gently forcing her to look at him. “I’ve been looking for you my whole life.”
“I wasn’t sure… most people don’t believe. Think its all silly kid stuff. Fairy tales.”
Dean could feel the uncertainty and worry flowing through their bond. He rubbed his hands up and down her arms to soothe her. “I don’t think its silly kid stuff. Do you?”
She shook her head, but there was still something lingering there. Dean couldn’t quite put his finger on it and that upset him. He was the Alpha, it was his job to make it right, whatever it was. But he couldn’t do that if he didn’t know what the problem was. His mind started to race, and he found himself frowning at the possibility that this had been a mistake. It’s not as if they had discussed it beforehand.
“I know this all happened fast and we don’t know each other. Not really.” His fingers found the mark he left on her mating gland. “If you regret this, if you don’t want this, we can find a way to undo it.”
His stomach clenched at the very thought of it and the Alpha within him howled. No! My Omega! Mine! It took every bit of strength and resolve to even speak of it, but he would. He would do whatever it took to make her happy, even if that meant gutting himself in the process. That was the depth of the bond, so new and yet more powerful than anything he had ever experienced.
He swallowed thickly, “It’s not easy, but it can be done.”
Her eyes shot up and she chewed nervously on her lip. She had heard of such procedures. Rare and dangerous, they were only used in the most extreme circumstances. If one’s mate died unexpectedly, sometimes the Alpha or Omega left behind would grieve the loss so acutely that they would have the bonding gland removed. It was the only way to find relief from the pain. And even so, the mate left behind would be left numb and never able to bond with anyone else. Emma shuddered to think about it.
“Is… is that what you want? To break the bond?”
“No! Not at all. But I can feel something is bothering you. If it’s not the claim, then what is it?” Dean gently tugged her in close, coaxing her nose close to the crook of his neck where his scent would be strongest.
He held her firmly until he could feel her take a deep breath and relax into him. “Sweetheart, tell me what’s wrong. Whatever it is, I’ll fix it.”
“There’s nothing wrong,” She murmured against his chest, enjoying the warmth and stability she found there. “It’s just that I never really considered the possibility.”
“The possibility of true mates?”
“Of being claimed.” She clarified. “I suppose that sounds strange coming from an Omega, I just didn’t think about it. And now that I am…. It’s different.”
“Different good or different bad?” Dean dared to ask.
Her smile was slow to bloom, but it was genuine. As if she were surprised at her own feelings on the matter. “Different good. Really good.”
He blew out a breath he didn’t know he was holding. “You really know how to worry a guy, you know that?”
“Sorry,” she chuckled.
He chuckled too when he heard her stomach growl loudly. “So, pie huh?”
“French silk. The Ritz has the best in the city.”
“Alright,” he agreed, brushing his lips over hers before releasing her. “I better order extra; you’re going to need your strength.”
Emma padded over to the kitchenette where Dean had already brewed a pot of coffee. Normally that would be her preference, but the incredibly bitter smell had her seeking out something milder. A quick search produced a selection of tea bags that sounded far better. She listened idly to Dean making the room service order while her mug of water warmed in the microwave. Typical Alpha, he was ordering enough to feed the armies of Genghis Khan!
Lord, I’m cold! She thought with a shiver. Maybe the air conditioner is malfunctioning.
She rubbed her hands together while she watched the mug go round the turntable. So cold, freezing actually. Like ice water running through her veins. But that was wrong, she was in heat. Aptly named. Omegas in heat were never cold, they often ran fevers and had intense sweats during that process. Was this different because she had suppressed her cycle for so long?
Suddenly, a burning pain shot through the claim mark. Her hand flew to the spot, urgently trying to rub the pain out, but it only got worse. When the room began to spin, she panicked.
“Dean.”
The Alpha glanced over at the sound of his name. The distress flowing through their bond went straight to his gut. He closed the distance between them in three long strides. “’Mega, what’s wrong?”
She blinked slowly up at him, and her knees gave as the color drained from her face. “Dean.”
With his quick reflexes, Dean had her in his arms and held tightly against his chest. His protective instincts flaring as she shook in his grasp, whimpering softly.
“Baby, talk to me,” he begged, placing her on a low couch. Her beautiful midnight eyes squeezed closed on a grimace of pain. His hands urgently searched her over for the cause, “Is it your heat? Are you sick?”
Emma knew this was a reaction to being claimed, all the signs were there. She shivered violently and could feel her body shutting itself down. God, it was happening quick! Her chattering teeth made her words waver, “No, I need… need phone. My phone… pocket”
Dean scrambled to the bedroom. Her clothes along with his own were strewn across the floor, but luck was on his side. The hoodie sticking out from under the bed had a side zipper pocket that housed a sleek smart phone. He grabbed a blanket from the bed on his way and ran back to her side.
By the time he came back, she could barely keep her eyes open. The shivering had stopped, everything seemed to be slowing down. Shock, she supposed. She couldn’t quite feel Dean the way that she had before, it was as if their bond was shrinking, fading away. The burning of the mark was gone as well. She barely registered the blanket he tucked around her. Everything seemed so far away. But she could hear him talking to her and when she finally got her eyes to focus, she saw his green ones staring back, filled with worry.
Dean placed a hand on her forehead, gently smoothing her hair back. “’Mega, I’m calling a doctor, alright? I’m going to get you some help.”
She shook her head weakly. Her fingers were icy as she took the phone from his hand. “No,” she rasped, using every bit of energy she had to punch in the code that unlocked the screen. “Jess… sister. Call Jess. She knows… what to… do.”
When her eyes fluttered shut and the phone dropped from her lax fingers, Dean’s heart clenched with fear. “Emma?! Baby?” He nearly stopped breathing himself, until her saw the shallow rise of her chest.
Common sense said that 911 was the obvious number to call or even the front desk. A world class hotel like this one likely had a doctor on call. Still, she had been insistent, and she trusted him to take care of her. He hesitated only for a moment then scrolled through her contact list and found a listing for Jess.
The line rang twice before a perky, feminine voice answered, “Emmy?”
“Is this Jess?”
The easy tone changed to one of hostile suspicion, “Who the hell is this?”
“My name’s Dean, are you Emma’s sister?”
“Yeah, where is…?”
Desperate to move things along, Dean cut her off, “She’s here but she passed out… I don’t know, she’s sick or something. Told me to call you for help.”
“What?! What the hell is going on?!”
“Listen lady, I don’t have time to walk you through the damned details! My Omega needs help and if you don’t tell me what to do for her, I’m going to call 911.” Dean threatened, malice laced his words, his Alpha front and center. The instinct to protect and care for his mate took over every rationale.
Jess matched his tone with a stern one of her own, “Well you better make time and tell me… wait a minute… are you a fucking Alpha?! Did you claim her?!”
Something in the way Jess said those words heightened Dean’s panic. This was bad, and he had no idea just how bad it was. Foreboding pricked up his spine and dread settled in his stomach. “Yes, what damned difference does that make?”
“Listen to me very carefully, Emma can’t be claimed. It’s hard to explain and too late now anyway but calling a regular doctor won’t help.” Jess took a calming breath, “Where are you?”
“The Ritz Carlton, room 307.”
“I’m sending our family doctor, he’s been treating her since she was a kid,” Jess explained, she struggled to keep the tears from her voice. Her sister needed her to be strong, “I know your Alpha machismo won’t want him anywhere near her, but please. If you care about Emmy at all, you’ll let him do what he can.”
She abruptly hung up, presumably to call the doctor. Dean carefully set the phone down on the table, making sure it was set to ring incase Jess called back. Half of him hoped she would, the other half was afraid of what other information she would have if she did. As it was, he was far from reassured. In fact, he was fucking terrified.
He sank down onto the edge of the coffee table next to the sofa. With elbows on knees and his head in his hands, he prayed. He wasn’t a religious man, but his mother had been adamant about instilling a foundation of faith in both him and his brother. It was his mother that his thoughts drifted to now, if he had an angel looking out for him, it would be Mary Winchester.
Please… I can’t lose her now. I’ve only just found her. Please, Mom, tell me I’m doing the right thing here. We’re just getting started…
He abruptly crossed to the main door and made sure it was unlocked for the doctor, then did the only thing he could. He sat on the sofa and settled his unconscious mate on his lap. Dean nuzzled the crook of her neck and tried not to be even more worried when he found her delicate scent fading.

Chapter Seven: House Call

It was still dark out when Dean woke up. The thunder and rain had passed leaving only the ambient noise of the city to lull him back to sleep, but sleep did not come. Instead, he laid awake and considered the warm body curled into his side. From their earlier time together, he knew his Omega to be a deep sleeper and she was even more so tonight. Her head was on his chest, her fingers curled into a loose fist over his heart, her breathing soft and warm tickled his skin. At this angle, he could study the relaxed features of her face. She was so beautiful; it was still hard for him to believe she was his. Delicate too, although she would likely fight anyone who made that claim. When they were at the Ritz, she’d told him how strong she was and proved it. The way she let him use her body during his rut to slate his lust had certainly made her point. He’d been ashamed to see the amount of bruises and marks he left on her tender flesh.
And now knowing who she was in her working hours, yes… Emma was strong. Not just for an Omega. Strong, smart, stubborn, and struggling.
Here, in the still hours of the night, she felt fragile. His earlier assessment had been right, she’d lost weight, he’d seen it up close when he dressed her for bed. She was exhausted, bone tired, he could feel it through their bond. He blamed himself, of course. If he hadn’t left her, if he’d been here to take care of her then she wouldn’t be suffering now.
Dean Winchester was a determined man, a powerful man. When he put his mind and energy into something he didn’t stop until he achieved it. His mind worked as he lay there in the dark, clicking along, managing variables, making lists. He knew now what the problem was and what needed to be done. He was going to protect his Omega no matter what it took. Even if that meant protecting her from herself.
He was a man of considerable resources and resolve, and he was on the case.
Emma didn’t stir when he eased her off his chest onto her pillow, further evidence of her exhaustion. He tucked the thick covers around her and silently slipped from the room. He had work to do.
Emma grumbled unhappily when she found herself alone in bed. She stretched her arms over her head to rid herself of stiffness that came with sleeping so deeply. The clock on the bedside table showed it was half past ten in the morning.
Good lord, I slept like a dead woman!
She caught a glimpse of her reflection in the full-length beveled mirror by her closet and headed straight for the shower. There were remnants of make-up smeared across her face complete with raccoon like rings of mascara and her hair was a matted, sweaty mess. She looked a bit worse for wear, but she felt better than she had in two weeks. Well rested and clear headed. Amazing what a good Alpha could do!
Her thoughts drifted back to last night’s conversation as she worked shampoo into her hair. Dean knew the truth now, not that she was keeping it from him intentionally, not really. It was just so nice not to have to bear the weight of that larger-than-life persona she’d created. She could be herself with him in ways she just couldn’t afford to be in her daily life. Not even with Jess. She felt free with him. Her work had consumed her so completely for so long that discovering she was still a person, still a woman, had surprised her. She didn’t want to break that spell, to have the world she’d created with Dean spoiled by her responsibilities. So, she chose not to mention it and she let herself be swept away instead.
But that was over now, it was back to reality. She knew that not being openly claimed would not please her Alpha, but she didn’t anticipate the hurt. Her actions had consequences not just for her, but for him. The last thing she wanted was to cause him pain and knowing that she had, even unintentionally, made her heart clench. She knew Dean was right, she couldn’t be both an Alpha and an Omega. Something had to give, she had to fix this, or she would lose more than her company. Trouble was she had no idea what to do, she had no idea where to even start.
Emma quickly dried off and dressed. She padded downstairs, following the smell of something fantastic in the oven. She found Dean puttering away in the kitchen. He looked incredible. Dark jeans hugged his thick thighs and bowed legs. A forest green Henley that was certain to bring out his eyes stretched over the broad muscles of his back and shoulders, pushed up to his elbows exposing powerful forearms. He sang and bopped along with the classic rock flowing from the laptop open on the counter while he chopped carrots.
She broke into a grin when she spied her ruffled, yellow apron tied around his narrow waist.
The man is simply adorable. “What’s cookin’, hot stuff?”
“Hey, there’s my girl!” Dean turned with a smile and kissed her soundly, “Morning, beautiful.”
“Morning,” she returned, her hands tugged gently on the apron. “You’ve been busy.”
“Damn right!” The buzzer on the stove dinged and he grabbed the red mitts as he opened the oven door. “I hope you’re hungry.”
“Starving.” Her stomach rumbled in agreement, which was a pleasant change from the tight, slightly nauseated feeling she’d had for the past few days.
“Good.”
She certainly looked better than she did last night, a bit more like the girl he’d first met. Face free of makeup, dark hair in damp waves over her shoulders. Simple dark leggings and a tunic top in periwinkle blue. Always so beautiful, but younger and vulnerable. A sharp contrast to the version of her he found at Beaumont Enterprises. He could see it clearly; it was the mask she wore. Emmaline was polished and powerful alter ego. Perfect and impenetrable. Looking at her now, it was hard to imagine her in that ivory tower.
“How’d you sleep?”
“Really good,” she replied as she perched on a barstool, just as she had the night before. “You’ve upped your cuddling game.”
“Yeah, I’ve been reading up, gotta keep my baby happy,” he winked at her. “You ain’t seen nothing yet.”
She bit her bottom lip and blushed. Dean always seemed to have that effect on her, and she loved every minute of it. Her eyes scanned more of the kitchen and noticed it was fully stocked. There was food everywhere. Fresh fruit in baskets, French baguettes and croissants in brown paper bakery bags, a stack of root vegetables on the counter next to the cutting board.
There were even appliances she didn’t recognize, two crock pots, an espresso machine, and a coffee grinder. “Where did all of this come from? Is that a milk frother?”
Dean pulled a large, glass dish from the oven and closed the door with a gentle kick. Scents of maple, cinnamon, and fresh baked bread wafted up, causing her stomach to growl again. “Yes, it is. Trust me, no kitchen is complete without one.”
He plated up a heaping portion and drizzled a translucent glaze over it before he set it down in front of her with flourish. “Here we go, Mary Winchester’s famous French Toast Bake.”
Emma smiled as he handed her a fork, “This was your mom’s recipe?”
“She used to make it every Christmas morning. Sammy and I could open our stockings but had to wait for everything under the tree until after breakfast.” Warmth spread through his chest as he watched his mate enjoy one of the special meals his mother used to make. It was just the start of what he hoped to share with her.
“Wow,” Emma muttered through a mouth full. “This is incredible!”
“It always was a crowd pleaser.”
“You didn’t have to go to all this trouble, we can always order in.”
Dean scoffed, “Where do you think all this came from? I’ve never been a big fan of New York, but the delivery options are practically limitless. Besides, you need to eat real food.”
Her rebuttal was instantaneous, “I eat real food.”
“Your pantry consisted of five pints of chocolate ice cream, a few decent bottles of wine and a science experiment in the back of the fridge.”
“Gelato,” she corrected as she scraped the fork across her plate to scoop up the remnants of butter and icing.
“Excuse me?”
“Five pints of chocolate gelato, and all of them are different. I always keep the essentials on hand.” She popped her fork into her mouth and sucked the sticky goodness off. She closed her eyes in appreciation and groaned, “Damn that’s good.”
Dean took her plate and refilled it along with a tall glass of milk Mary Winchester would have approved of. “Fancy ice cream doesn’t cut it for every meal of the day. Besides, from what your sister said you haven’t had much of an appetite.”
Emma stopped mid bite. “You talked to Jess? When?”
“I called her earlier this morning.”
Unsure what to make of that, Emma took a long swallow of milk. Her mate and her sister, conspiring already. Fantastic. “I didn’t think you’d be eager to talk to her after yesterday.”
Jessica Beaumont certainly wasn’t on the list of Dean’s favorite people. She was just as obstinate and opinionated during their hour-long phone conversation as she was in the E.R. But he needed intel and Jess was the closest person to her sister. If he was going to get a clear picture of what had been going on during the past two weeks, it would come from the youngest Beaumont.
“Yeah well, your baby sis and I have a common goal; getting you better.”
“I already feel better,” she reached over and grasped his hand. “I just needed you.”
“I’m glad you’re feeling better, but Jess said you’ve been sick for days. Headaches, not sleeping, not eating. There’s something else going on here, ‘Mega.”
“That’s why I’ve called a friend of mine. I’ve known her for a long time, she’s a doctor, specializes in Omegas.” He took a deep breath and brought up the next order of business, one she was bound to fight him on. “She’s in town and I’ve asked her to stop by this afternoon.”
“Dean, come on. I just need to get used to being claimed, I’ll be fine. Besides, I don’t want to waste away any more of this weekend. I’ve only got one more day before you have to go home.”
“Which brings me to my next point, I’m staying.”
Her eyes widened, “What?”
“You can’t come back with me, and I get it, but baby I’m not going to leave you here. Being separated from you was the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life and then finding out you’ve been sick; I can’t do it again. Please don’t ask me to.”
He humbled her. He was Dean Winchester, head of a huge company that no doubt required as much of him as Beaumont did of her. He had responsibilities and employees, meetings and mergers that all required his attention. His company was just as important as hers, maybe even more so. Yet he was putting it all on hold to be here with her.
She couldn’t help the tears that filled her eyes, “You’d do that for me?”
“I’d do anything for you,” he pledged.
“But you hate New York.”
“I’ll suck it up.”
“I hate doctors,” she admitted in a small voice. “They never help, and they always end up being like that asshat in the ER.”
Dean chuckled, “Yeah, he was an asshat. But Jody isn’t. Jody Mills, she was my mom’s doctor for years, she’s good people, I promise.”
He could feel Emma’s fear. After meeting her ghoulish family doctor and then the guy yesterday, he couldn’t blame her. But she needs help. Proper, medical help and he wasn’t going to stop until she got it.
He took her chin between his thumb and index finger, coaxing her blue eyes meet his gaze. “You’ve passed out on me twice now and it scared the hell out of me… please?”
When the doorbell rang two hours later, Emma nearly jumped out of her skin. Her nerves had been keyed up ever since Dean told her he was bringing a doctor over. Dormant memories from her childhood came to the surface like sunken ships she’d torpedoed long ago. Or she thought she had, now they were back and with them came a storm of emotions.
She didn’t just hate doctors; she was scared to death of them. Her adolescence had been spent being poked and prodded, whenever they tested her, she always seemed to fail and disappoint. She’d been powerless and it had taken years to feel like she had control over her own life. To find her strength, both mentally and physically. Now it felt like it was all slipping away. Perhaps it had never been there to begin with.
She stood from the sofa she and Dean had been cuddling on while he went to answer the door. She brushed invisible lint from her clothes, squared her shoulders and tightly clamped her hands together. The only thing that kept her from running ahead of him and bolting the door, was her trust in her Alpha. It had been a long time since she trusted someone besides her sister, but Dean had proven himself worthy. In the short time they’d known each other, he’d protected and defended her. She hated that he was so worried about her, the least she could do is meet with his friend. Even if she wanted to throw up just thinking about it.
“Hey Jody, thanks for coming,” Dean said warmly, pulling the silver haired woman into a hug. “I owe you one.”
“I’ll add it your tab, Winchester.” She smirked and gave him a good-natured pat on the shoulder. “I’ve got my eye on a few goodies at Bloomingdales, if you’re feeling generous.”
Dean chuckled, remembering the epic shoe shopping trips his mom used to take with Jody back before the chemo weakened her body to the point of being bedridden. They would disappear into the Marshall Fields in downtown Chicago and reappear hours later with dozens of shopping bags and a healthy margarita buzz.
“I’ll call ahead, tell ‘em to stock the tequila.”
“Smartass.”
“Ask for Milo if you swing by the bar on the ground floor, he makes the best mojitos in the city,” Emma said, a cordial smile on her face as she came up behind Dean.
Jody had watched the Winchester brothers grow from rambunctious boys into strapping young men. She was as proud of them as if they were her own. Seeing the way Dean lit up as his mate stood beside him made her heart happy for him. He wrapped an arm around the young woman’s shoulders and beamed from ear to ear. He was clearly smitten.
“Jody, this is my Emma.”
Emma extended her hand, the picture of polite poise. “Thank you for coming on such short notice, Dr. Mills.”
Dean had mentioned his Omega was a little jumpy around doctors. Jody could practically see those defensive walls go up. “Hey, any excuse to visit New York is alright by me! And please, call me Jody.”
“Jody,” Emma repeated as they entered the sitting room. “Would you like a cup of tea or coffee?”
“Tea would be great.” Jody openly gawked at the elegant room while Dean poured tea from the china set on the coffee table. Once again, forcing his Omega to sit.
“This house is gorgeous!”
Emma had a genuine smile then; it was her pride and joy after all. “Thank you. I’m more than a little obsessed with her myself.”
“I can see why,” Jody said as she set down her bag and sat in one of the wingback chairs. “Maybe when we’re done, you’d be willing to give me a tour?”
“It’s a deal.” Her reply was warm, but her hands clamped tightly together in her lap gave away her tension. It was all Emma could do to stay seated even with Dean anchored to her side.
“Great, well let’s get started, hmm?” Jody pulled an IPad out of her case and started entering information. “Get the boring stuff out of the way… Name, weight, height.”
Emma rattled off the information that came with any medical exam, trying to ignore the clenching of her stomach.
“Birth date?”
“June 7th, 1994.”
“So that makes you twenty-seven. Very good. How old were you when you first presented?”
“Sixteen.”
“Uh huh. Great. So, tell me a bit about the suppression treatments you’ve been on. How old were you when they started?”
Emma stared at Jody’s bowed head as the doctor entered the information. If it weren’t for Dean beside her, she would have bolted before the questions even started. Her medical history was tied into all kinds of trauma, emotional and otherwise. To delve into it scratched open old, poorly healed wounds. Her heart thundered in her chest, her stomach jumped to her throat, she felt so powerless. She hated it. She hated not being in control. It wasn’t a position she occupied often and swore she never would be again.
There were two options; continue spiraling into certain panic or take back that power. She was Emmaline Beaumont, after all. Just because she felt powerless didn’t mean that she was.
She cleared her throat and sat a little straighter. “Actually, I’ve got a few questions of my own before we get into all that.”
Jody’s head popped up from her notes and she looked over at Dean who gave a shrug. Obviously, he was as surprised as she was. “Okay, yeah. Absolutely. Ask away.”
“Where did you study medicine?”
“Right here in New York, actually. Columbia University.”
“And your primary focus?”
“Reproductive endocrinology, with a slant towards secondary genders.”
“A slant?”
“Call it a hobby or an obsession. Our secondary genders are largely misunderstood. Biology mixed in with social dynamics and politics. For a long time, some of worst transgressions have been blamed on our baser instincts. I wanted to find out if that was really the case and what can be done about it. We don’t have to live at the mercy of our presentations, Emma. They are just another part of our biology; they are nothing to fear.”
If Emma was swayed by Jody’s impassioned ideology, she didn’t let it show. She simply nodded coolly, “How do you know the Winchesters?”
“Mary and I were next door neighbors, grew up together.” Jody’s eyes misted even as she grinned remembering her best friend. “She always such a troublemaker! Got my ass busted more times than I could count… and all she did was laugh!”
Jody locked eyes with Dean then and gave him a wavering smile. One that spoke to the grief they shared over a woman they both loved dearly. He smiled back, always grateful to hear people talk about his mom, no matter the heartache is stirred.
“She had the best laugh,” he said.
“Yes, she did.” Jody blinked away the emotion and turned back to her patient. “Do you have any other questions?”
“Just one. How many Omegas were in your graduating class?”
“One. The first Omega ever to graduate at the top of her class.” She leaned forward with a wink, “Me.”
Emma felt the tension in her chest ease for the first time since Dean told her a doctor was coming over. Jody was pleasant, funny, and intelligent. More importantly, she spoke to her like a person. Neither Alpha nor Omega. Maybe this would be different after all.
“Sixteen.”
Jody’s brows drew together in confusion, “What?”
“You asked when I received my first treatment,” Emma clarified, her voice slightly detached. “I was sixteen. They began as soon as my first heat cycle ended.”
“Okay, so they started them right away. How did that go?”
“Um, fine. There was some trial and error, but eventually they got the right combination figured out.”
Dean piped up then, “Jess said it made you sick, like really sick.”
She grumbled in frustration, “I’m so glad you and my sister are besties.”
“The more details you can give me, the better. It will help me get a clear picture of how your system reacts to any kind of hormonal adjustments.” Jody explained, hoping to ease tension. “Our goal is not only to fix this but make that process as easy as possible on you. This doesn’t have to hurt, Emma. As a matter of fact, it shouldn’t.”
“Okay, yes,” she admitted, quietly folding her hands together in her lap. “I was sick. I don’t even really remember much; I was pretty out of it. It just felt like a heat cycle that never stopped.”
Jody nodded her understanding and her sympathy. “So, fever, cramps, headache, nausea?”
Emma’s thoughts flashed back to her adolescence. Endless days and nights spent in bed, sweating profusely, crying from pain that felt like she was being ripped in two. Her little sister would crawl into bed with her sometimes to comfort her. Brushing and braiding her hair, like they used to do when they would play as children. She was certain her parents had been there too, but the only solid memories she had were of Jess. And Doctor Lancaster.
“All of it.”
“How long would you say that lasted before the symptoms faded?”
“I presented right after my birthday, and I missed a bit of school. I wasn’t able to go to class until after Thanksgiving break.”
If Jody was fazed by the information, she didn’t show it. Instead, her gaze was steady and compassionate. “Did you have any other reactions after that?”
“No, everything was fine, normal. I didn’t have any reactions at all until I met Dean.”
“He triggered your heat?” Emma nodded and Jody smiled, “The right Alpha will do that. So, how often did you take breaks in your treatment?”
“I didn’t.”
“Never? Not once?”
It was then that Dean saw the flicker in Jody’s gaze. It was brief, only someone who knew her well would have even noted it. There was concern and there was anger. Jody Mills was a good doctor and a hell of a good person. Dean didn’t know whether to be relieved or dismayed that his instincts had been correct.
“Not good?” he asked.
Jody put down the IPad on the table and leaned forward, her elbows resting on her knees. “Its standard practice to pause long term suppression treatments at least twice per year. That allows the Omega’s natural rhythms to remain intact and lessens the risk for future complications.”
“What kind of complications?” The question fell from Emma’s lips while dread formed a pit in her stomach.
“Well, the longer heat cycles are suppressed the more dangerous they are when they start again. High fevers, rapid heart rate, and the like. Occasionally that will lead to early menopause. But most commonly, fertility issues.”
It was then that Emma felt the air leave the room. Fertility. Children. She wouldn’t be able to give Dean pups. Oh God! “Are you saying I won’t… I can’t…”
Jody’s smile was one of reassurance, “Those are just possible side effects, we don’t know anything yet. One step at a time, okay? The fact that Dean triggered your heat is a good sign, a very good sign. Now, have you taken any treatments since being claimed? Aside from the patch?”
Emma shook her head mutely.
“Good. How have you been feeling since you stopped the treatments?”
“Right here, right now, I feel fine.”
“Because of Dean,” Jody prompted. “What about when he’s not here?”
“I don’t know how to describe it… everything is just overwhelming. The smells, the sounds, the people everywhere, I can’t even leave my house. I went for a run and got half a block before I puked in the neighbor’s bushes!”
Emma failed to keep the tears at bay, the floodgates were open now. The past two weeks had been hell and now to find out that her stupidity may have cost her the chance to be a mother, it was all too much. She’d made a colossal mistake and now Dean would have to pay for it as well. God, how could she be so stupid?!
“I can’t work because I’m an emotional basket case, I cry all the damned time! So I’ve been holed up in my house but even here I can’t sleep. I’m up all hours, retiling my backsplash like a crack addict!” She shrugged helplessly, “It’s like the world went from black and white to technicolor… I don’t know what to do.”
“That’s why I’m here, we’re going to figure out what to do together,” Jody assured her, while Dean reached for Emma’s hand, lacing his fingers through hers.
“Are these symptoms a kind of withdrawal?” he asked.
“Partly. Think of Alphas and Omegas as opposite ends of the spectrum,” Jody explained. “The suppression of heat cycles or ruts is not harmful so long as you are under a doctor’s care and take proper precautions. To alter an Omega’s biology enough to pass as an Alpha is much more intense and difficult on the body. It forces the body to do the opposite of what it was designed to do.”
“Your body has gotten used to fighting the suppressants, now that they are out of your system it’s going to take time for it to figure out it doesn’t have to fight any more. Eventually, your natural chemical balance will be restored, and you won’t feel like hell all the time.”
Dean didn’t like the idea of his mate feeling like hell for any amount of time. “So, we just wait it out?”
“I’m putting her on a strict Dean Winchester diet,” Jody chuckled at her own joke. “In this case, being claimed is the best medicine. The more time you spend with your Alpha, the easier it is for your body to find the correct balance of hormones.”
Emma nodded, feeling a bit calmer. Probably because of the contact of her palm against Dean’s. Whatever it was, she’d take it.
“No stress, okay? Lots of rest and lots of sex.”
Dean choked in embarrassment. It was almost as bad as when his mom had the talk with him in junior high. “Jesus, Jody!”
Jody only grinned, she loved the fact that no matter how big Dean got, she could still make him squirm like a little kid, “Hey, you want your Omega to get better? Go at like rabbits!”
Emma had to laugh then; Dean turned red all the way to the tips of his ears. Maybe this doctor wasn’t so bad after all.
“Now, I’m going to be stopping by every couple of days and checking on you. We’ll do blood draws to make sure everything is on track and if anything fluctuates too much I can give you something to counter it. No more headaches, nausea, sleepless nights. If any of that happens, you call me.”
“No more passing out?” Dean confirmed.
“Definitely not. You’ve booked the exclusive Dr. Jody Mills care package; I’m not going anywhere until I’m confident that everything has returned to normal.” She packed away her IPad and pulled out a few items she needed to do a blood draw.
“And children?” Emma asked.
“First, we get you fixed up. Then we work on that, but we’ll get there, I promise.” She gave the young woman a warm smile, “That sensitivity to the world that makes it technicolor instead of black and white? That’s what it is to be an Omega, Emma. And it’s not a bad thing, it’s part of what makes you special. It’s worth fighting for, I promise.”

Emma could tell the lights were bright, even without opening her eyes. Even behind her lids, the glare was intense and artificial. As was the smell. That sharp antiseptic, clinical odor found in doctor’s offices and hospitals. It was cold too. Cold and uncomfortable. Whatever she was laying on was digging into the pressure points in her hips and shoulders making her want to shift and pop her back. There was a pinched feeling on the back of her right hand that itched fiercely. Suddenly, two voices caught her wandering attention and pulled her focus from her discomfort.
“He’s a doctor for fucks sake!” the familiar feminine voice hissed. “He wouldn’t deliberately hurt her.”
The deeper male voice that replied was familiar too. And sounded angry. “He doesn’t care about her! He’s got the bedside manner of a salamander and looks like Rumpelstiltskin!”
Dean.
“So, he’s kind of a dick, he still has experience with her case!”
Jess.
“We are not calling Doctor Evil! I’m her Alpha, damn it! I’m not risking her health; we’re doing this properly.”
“I knew you two would hit it off.” Emma croaked as she pried her eyes open.
Dean was at her side in an instant, taking her hand in his. Her beautiful eyes were weary but clear. She still smiled softly and squeezed his hand in return. “Hey Sweetheart. How you feeling?”
“Tired,” she admitted, frowning slightly as she looked around the room. It was a big room separated into small, private spaces by striped curtains. The bed she was on was narrow. Everything seemed kind of temporary. Portable. There was an i.v. bag attached to her hand and a heart monitor clipped to her index finger that caused a steady beep somewhere behind her head.
“Confused. Why am I in the hospital?”
He rubbed a thumb over her knuckles, soothing her. “You passed out, we brought you to the E.R.”
“Oh,” she breathed, searching her memory for details and coming up empty. “Can we leave now that I’m awake?”
“Not yet, Jess came up behind Dean. Her long curly hair even more unruly than normal. Emma could tell she’d been twisting and tugging on it, a nervous habit she’d had since childhood. “They need to finish running some tests first.”
Emma shifted uncomfortably on the stiff mattress, “Fantastic.”
“Mr. Winchester?”
All three heads turned to see a white-haired man with wire-rimmed glasses and a white lab coat enter through the gap in the curtains. The stethoscope dangling from his neck and the clip board in his hand said doctor while his strong scent and posture marked him an Alpha.
“I’m Doctor Evans,” he smiled and held his hand out to Dean, who accepted with a firm shake.
“I’ve been going over the results from the latest blood panel. Your Omega’s fainting spell was due to a massive influx of Alpha pheromones. Common side effect from using one of those presentation patches for an extended period.” The doctor explained flashing a pen light into Emma’s eyes.
“When a claimed Omega is in physical contact with their mate, it causes a biological response. It’s a normal, healthy part of the bonding process. That response combined with the drugs from the patch and caused a sudden drop in blood pressure. Lights out.” He paused to make a note in the medical file, “You claimed her recently, yes?”
Dean nodded, “Just over two weeks ago.”
“Ah, well there you have it. Lots of chemical changes in the early days of a claim, hormones fluctuating, perfectly normal.” Evans leaned down and tapped Emma on the nose, as if he were scolding a child, “Emotions all over the place leads to all kinds of ideas, but you leave those patches alone.”
Emma scoffed, the absolute nerve of the man! He wasn’t even talking to her about her own condition, he spoke directly to Dean. Two Alphas talking over the head of a simple-minded little Omega. Of all the condescending, sexist crap!
Evans straightened to his full height and addressed Dean again. “All kinds of presentation poppers on the market since those new laws went into effect. Omegas can pretend to be Alphas, Alphas pose as Betas, just a lot of chaos really. You never know what you’re going to bring home!”
When the doctor laughed, Emma strongly considered punching him in his smug, Alpha face. But frankly she was tired. Tired of having the same, ugly fight. The never-ending battle to be seen, to be respected. All she wanted to do was retreat. Go home, where she didn’t have to pretend to be something she wasn’t just to be heard. Frustrated tears pricked behind her eyes; it was situations like this that reminded her why she kept her presentation a secret for so long.
She swallowed down her anger in favor of an early escape, “So, am I good to go, or what?”
The doctor continued as if she never spoke, effectively dismissing her and putting her in what he considered an Omega’s rightful place. Submissive.
“Just take her home and keep her close. It will help her natural traits come more to the surface, then everything will calm down,” he passed Dean a business card. “My colleague, Doctor Roberts. Give him a call if you have any further issues, he works wonders with Omegas experiencing confusion.”
Dean was no fool, he knew that so called A/B/O Traditionalists were around. Mostly a bunch of talking heads on the morning shows that occasionally held a rally or marched on a courthouse. To encounter one in the form of a medical professional was startling. And disturbing. He spoke about Emma was like he was a vet spaying a dog. God knows what sort of treatments his buddy specialized in. He could feel Emma’s anger and hurt at being treated like second class. And her fear. How many times had she been on the receiving end of this kind of crap?
With measured movements, Dean stood from his seat next to the bed, rising to his full height. He was only slightly taller than the doctor, but he was broader by half. His muscular form showed even through the suit. He radiated power and aggression. The look on his face was one his professional rivals knew well; cutting and deadly. This was an Alpha confronting another for threatening his mate. Such a situation could be dangerous if mishandled.
Evans was outmatched and knew it
“The only confusion is how a dickbag like you is allowed to practice medicine.” Dean tore the business card in two and let it fall to the floor. “You’ve got five minutes to get her discharge papers before we leave without them.”
Jess watched with great satisfaction as the doctor scurried away. She certainly wasn’t sold on Dean Winchester. The man was overbearing and bossy. They had fought nearly the entire time Emma was unconscious. He’d only spent a few days with her sister and Alpha or no, he didn’t have the intimate knowledge of her medical history the way Jess did. He barked orders at everyone on the nursing staff and guarded his mate with the ferocity of a lion. Refused to listen to reason. He was a stubborn ass.
How could he be her mate? He was rough in ways her sister was refined. He was obvious in ways she was subtle.
Alphas were never much use to Jess anyway, pushy bunch of aggressors who were far too used to getting their own way. But watching Dean come to her sister’s defense without hesitation went a long way towards softening her stance. Here was the difference, that fine line between possessiveness and protectiveness.
She glanced at him now, his arm wrapped around Em’s shoulders as he pressed a kiss to the crown of her head. Maybe he wasn’t so bad after all.
“Here we are,” Emma said as she entered the code to her front door and turned the deadbolt. The entry lights were already on, casting a warm glow over the foyer. The gloom of the rainy afternoon had carried through into the evening. It was nearly nine at night when they finally arrived at her house. Exhausted, but together.
Dean took in the thick, mahogany woodwork, waxed parquet floor, and original plaster walls painted classic buttercream. All lovingly restored by his Omega. It was one of the fascinating things he’d learned about her during their nightly conversations. She loved restoring things, returning them to their former glory. Uncovering the beauty that had been hidden away by years of neglect.
She spent countless hours scouring flea markets and antique shops for Eastlake hinges and crystal doorknobs. Scrutinized online stock for period drawer pulls and whiled away her weekends in the New York City library researching turn of the century kitchen cabinets. It was a passion Dean understood well. He restored classic cars much the same way, obsessively.
Emma shrugged out of Dean’s borrowed coat and hung it in the hall closet, “This isn’t quite how I envisioned introducing you to Gracie. She’s stunning in the daylight.”
“She’s stunning now,” Dean assured her, as he dropped his overnight bag on a refurbished church pew. He ran his hand over the ornately carved newel post and smiled. It amused him that she’d named her house, just as he had named his favorite car. Labors of love. No wonder they were meant for each other.
“Yeah,” she breathed, gazing up at the grand staircase she’d spent four months stripping and staining. “She is.”
“Why don’t you give me the grand tour of Graceland tomorrow? You need to eat something.”
Emma nodded and laced her fingers through his, gently leading him down the hall to the kitchen. Beautifully restored, like the foyer. Carrera marble countertops stretched out under espresso-stained cabinets. She flipped the light switch and two large Tiffany pendant lamps lit over a massive island.
“Hope you like Italian,” she said, yanking open the refrigerator. “I haven’t been to the store in ages.”
“Anything is good with me,” Dean said taking the casserole dish from her hands when she pulled it from the bottom shelf. “You sit, I’ll cook.”
She opened her mouth to protest only to have him beat her to it. “Sweetheart, you’ve had a hell of a day that ended with a trip to the hospital. I got this, sit.”
She gratefully relented and sat in one of the barstools at the kitchen island. Dean was right, of course, she was wiped. Two weeks of fitful sleep combined with the hormonal rollercoaster and left her feeling like a wrung-out dishcloth. She had to admit, having him here was a relief. She wished she had more energy to really enjoy this moment she’d been dreaming of. As it was, her muscles ached, and her mind was mush. Just being here would have to do.
Emma propped her chin up in her hand and watched Dean acquaint himself with the layout. She had to smile; it warmed her heart to see him there. She’s poured so much of herself into this house, but it never felt as complete as it did with Dean standing in it.
“There’s wine, if you’re in the mood.”
Dean followed her gaze to the wine cooler under the counter, “Red or White?”
“Chef’s choice.”
He peeked under the casserole lid, “Chicken parmesan. Red.”
He filled two glasses with what he had to admit was a very nice pinot noir and handed one to her. A soft smile curved her lips and he asked, “What?”
“I’m just happy you’re here.”
“Me too,” he gave her a tender kiss, making her hum in return. “Gives me a chance to try out this world class kitchen. I see you finished the backsplash.”
She took a generous sip of wine, “Yeah, a couple of nights ago. You approve?”
“It’s gorgeous. Little surprised you had time though, running a fortune 500 company and all.”
“I make time for the important things,” she returned mildly. “Besides, today was the first time I’ve been to the office since I was claimed, and you saw how well that went.”
Dean set the skillet down on the range top a little harder than he meant to. What had been a pleasant surprise quickly turned into a heart wrenching repeat of the first time she collapsed on him. It only served to reinforce every doubt and worry he had about leaving her behind in the first place.
“Yeah, I did. Do you have to scare the hell out of me every time I see you?”
“In fairness, I didn’t expect to see you in my office today.” She could see his shoulders tense although he didn’t turn. “And I’m sorry.”
“I didn’t expect you either.”
“Jess is right,” she muttered into her wine glass. “We are idiots. All this time and we never exchanged last names.”
“What the hell were you thinking with that patch?” Dean demanded, moving the chicken around the pan with sharp movements. Allowing himself the luxury of anger to cover the residual fear.
“After what happened when I claimed you, why risk it?”
“Are you kidding? Jess tried to reschedule you three times, you refused!”
“So what? You could have kept that appointment and not worn the damned patch.”
She scoffed at him then, her temper rising to match his. “Oh yeah sure, out myself as an Omega to a man trying to take over my company!”
Dean turned off the burner and opened a couple of cabinets before he found the plates. “I wasn’t there to take over your company. It was just a meet and greet.”
“Meet and greet my ass. Beaumont is on Winchester’s radar and that means you will either try to buy us out or cut us off. Hunt down and eliminate, that’s been the Winchester motto since day one.”
The muscle in Dean’s jaw ticked as he set the plates down, one for each of them. “Eat.”
The last thing Emma wanted was to fight with him. She wanted to enjoy their time together, perhaps recapture the bliss they’d experienced at the Ritz. That seemed like a far-off dream now. She picked up a fork and speared the pasta in front of her. Not sure how to proceed, she let the awkward silence stretch out between them. She’d always been stubborn, and she often dug her heels in when cornered. No reason to change course now.
“I wouldn’t hunt down and eliminate your company just because you’re an Omega.”
“You mean because I’m your Omega.”
Dean was a proud man. He didn’t appreciate having his professionalism or his morals questioned. Not even by her. “No, damn it. Not just because you’re my Omega. I don’t go for the damned jugular based on someone’s presentation! I’m not a bigot or some fucking traditionalist who thinks Alphas rule the world. I’m ruthless when it comes to business, always have been, but I don’t cheat. And I don’t take advantage of people based on gender, race, religion or anything else. I’m a fair man, Emma.”
“I know you are,” she murmured, pushing the food around her plate before abandoning it all together. “How many Omegas sit on your board of directors?”
The softly asked question threw him. “What?”
“None,” she answered for him, her tone clipped. “There are two Alphas, you and your brother. Everyone else is Beta.”
Dean blinked, going down the list of shareholders in his head. She was right, of course.
“I do my homework.” She answered his unasked questions with a smile that was both smug and sad. She laced her fingers together on the countertop causing Dean to realize that although their business meet had just resumed. There was a sharpness to her, here was a glimpse of the Guillotine he’d heard so much about.
“Can you recall any Omegas that hold positions of authority within your company?”
The feeling of being cross examined nearly had him squirming. He could see how she’d managed to pass herself off as an Alpha. There was no hint of uncertainty or submissiveness in her now, she was confident and controlled.
“Not off the top of my head, no. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t any and that doesn’t mean that I have ever or would ever withhold those positions based on that. I don’t discriminate!”
“No, you don’t and that’s exactly the point. Youare a fair man who believes that Omegas are just as capable as anyone else. Yet you cannot point to a single example within your own company. There are many rungs on the cooperate ladder, you aren’t consulted on every review or promotion. Just because you aren’t prejudiced doesn’t mean you don’t employ people who are.”
Her midnight eyes searched out his, desperate for him to understand how much this meant to her. This was a battle she’d fought every day since she presented, and she fought it alone. Now that they were mated, she didn’t have to. Or so she hoped.
“If that’s how it’s going at Winchester with you at the helm, how do you think it’s going in companies where there isn’t someone like you?”
She had a point. To be honest, he never really thought that much about it. Never had to. The idea that anyone representing his family’s company would withhold a raise or promotion based on flat out prejudice pricked at his sense of integrity. And he hated it.
“You’re right.”
“I wish I wasn’t. There are wolves at my door every day, Dean. Being an Alpha has proved an effective way to keep them at bay.”
“But you’re not an Alpha.”
“They don’t know that,” she said with a shrug that disturbed him with its casualness. “That patch didn’t work the way I’d hoped, but I’ll find something that will.”
Dean gaped at her then, “You can’t be serious!”
“Of course, I am. I’m not going to let a little set back keep me down, I’ll figure it out.”
He reached across the counter and took her hands in his own. The fact that she wasn’t deterred by recent events worried him. Hell, it terrified him! How long was she going to keep experimenting with these insane treatments? This time was bad, she was lucky something serious hadn’t come of it.
It took everything he had not to unleash the Alpha. Let him do whatever needed to be done to keep his stubborn Omega safe, even from herself. “Em… Sweetheart, you can’t keep doing this to yourself. You ended up in the hospital this time, next time could be worse. I don’t care how important your company is to you, it’s not worth your health. It’s just not.”
“It’s not just my company, it’s my family’s company. My father’s legacy. Not to mention the hundreds of people I employ. Each one of them has a family too. Kids they are trying to send to college, mortgages to pay, spouses that need health coverage. It’s my responsibility, I can’t just let it go. I won’t.”
“So that’s your choice, huh? You’re going to gamble your life to keep daddy’s company turning a profit. What about us?” His eyes burned into hers, the green darkening with emotion. “How are you going to be an Alpha at Beaumont and an Omega with me? Or were you never going to make our relationship public knowledge?”
“I haven’t worked that out yet,” she admitted, dropping her gaze. “This is the first time my personal life has conflicted with my professional one. I don’t know how to have both, but I will. I’m stubborn that way.”
“So I’ve noticed.”
She ran her thumbs over Dean’s knuckles, tracing the faint freckles there. She’d missed those freckles and she’d missed him. Terribly. Not that she’d done a very good job of expressing that to him. Even now she could feel his hurt. They were mated, this should be a time when they shout it from the mountain tops! Introduce one another to their families, have champagne toasts and congratulatory dinners. Instead, they spent hours in the E.R. and debated useless politics over warmed up left-overs.
“I’m sorry, Dean. This wasn’t how I pictured this weekend going.”
“How did you picture it?”
“In bed,” she chuckled mirthlessly.
His mouth quirked, “Me too.”
Emma saw something spark in his eyes just before he got to his feet and swept her up in one quick move causing her to yelp in surprise. “Ah Dean!” she laughed, wrapping her arms around his neck as he strode through her house.
“Where are you taking me?”
“To bed,” he winked at her, “Per your request.”
“You don’t know where the bedroom is,” she pointed out as they passed the living room, library and the dining room.
He growled playfully and took the main stairs at a run making her laugh again. “You doubt my instincts, Omega?”
“Never,” she replied as he reached the second floor. He wasn’t even out of breath, which she had to admit was impressive. Then again, her Alpha was an impressive man.
He passed two closed doors before he tried the third, nudging it open he found what was obviously the master suite. It was done over in rich shades of dark purple that complimented the hardwood floors and coffered ceiling. The bedroom set was vintage and featured a king-sized bed piled high with pillows and a thick, velvet comforter.
Dean deposited her on the right side of the bed, remembering from their first time together that it was her preference.
Emma sank down into the bedding while her feet dangled over the edge, “Lucky guess.”
“Superior skill. Now, where do you keep your pajamas?”
She blinked up at him with curiosity, “Pajamas?”
“You’re exhausted, Sweetheart. And honestly, so I am. Tonight, we sleep.” He brushed a tender kiss over her lips. “We’ve got plenty of time for everything else.”
“Dresser. Second drawer.”
He sifted through a collection of well-worn t-shirts, some dating all the way back to high school. He settled on one he found especially soft and returned to the bed. Emma watched as he knelt at her feet, his large fingers surprising agile as they worked the tiny buckle of her t-strap heels loose. The socks went next, then her trousers, and her sweater.
When he reached behind her back to unhook her bra, he placed a soft kiss on her shoulder, “Beautiful.”
Finally free of her work clothes, he pulled the cotton t-shirt over her head and tucked her under the covers. He quickly rid himself of everything except a pair of black boxer briefs and climbed in beside her. Emma sighed in contentment as he pulled her into his arms, never had anyone taken care of her. Not like this. Not even when she was a child. There had been so much pressure, so many expectations. And all of them faced alone. Even though she’d been surrounded by people, she’d always felt so alone.
This was so different. It felt so different. Just being around Dean caused the tension in her body to ease, even when they disagreed. Here was peace and love and safety. Steady, like a heartbeat. Her defenses could drop and Dean would be there to catch her.
Dean’s hand slipped under one of the pillows and pulled out a shirt that had been tucked away there. “Is this mine?”
“Missed you,” she confessed, already yawning against his chest.
He smiled to himself and rubbed her back, “Missed you too, baby. I missed you too.”

CHAPTER TWO: Tell Me Your Name

Chapter Two: Tell Me Your Name
Word Count: 3752
I wonder what else he can do with his hands...
