Thoughts on the season of prophecy?
ok im in calculus but i am here to say things.
I HAVE a lot of scattered thoughts the first one being that im just very glad to have a lore focused season! when i saw the image teaser everyone was like Is It A Season? and when the "ap08" (adventure pass 8) was pointed out thus confirming it to be a season, i was a little worried! WAIT (spongebob meme) not because i didnt want a season but i wasnt sure what the execution was going to be like. so when i saw the news post on the sky website i was very relieved by some specific things. its already fun to get new areas and spirit quests but i was thinking it might be less interesting if they didnt go beyond that for lore and had it work nearly identical to past seasons. so i was glad to see theyre doing fewer spirits and more backstory!
retrospective ramble over and onto the aforementioned backstory. i have been poking into the lore channel (on the official sky discord) every now and then to see the ideas people have around! obviously we don't know for sure yet but the specific placement in isle is intriguing to me, mostly because it has a very intentional disconnect from eden and the king. as a new player, you're literally an infant walking around with only these runes and bells to guide you to the temple and very few spirits. but thinking back, that supposed 'emptiness' is what makes it so mysterious and ANY clarity on the sky storyline is greatly appreciated yk? i know it's intentionally vague so we can have our own interpretations, but the season seems to be introducing a whole new facet of the ancestors' culture, like their beliefs in their fate, and it could be taking us WAY further back than we realize. like im talking beginnings of the kingdom lol. i think a lot of people are speculating either beginning or end of the sky kingdom (when it was inhabited by spirits) bc ive also seen the idea that spirits may have tried to get as far away from eden as possible before destruction came or tried to find answers from the beginning + warn their descendants. BUT hey thats just a theory.... a game theory. jk i dont watch the game theorists
OH RIGHT and im also really curious about what the cosmetics will look like in full bc they look way different than what we have in game especially the masks

You should turn your post on the Uncanny Valley into a book or something. I am not even kidding, it's brilliant and sorely needed information. Thank you for it.
Tbh its just speculative that the uncanny valley is an inherent biological trait and not cultural or a learned behavior at the moment. A good example would be the cultural phenomenon of colorophobia where in the US we have a longer history of using clowns in our horror pop culture genres than countries like Japan.
Clown entertainment has been around since the Egytian times and maybe some people have always been freaked out by them it honestly just takes one director or author to have an disproportionately irrational fear and good cinematography skills to convince people that they SHOULD hate clowns just as much, (I could say the same about the movie Jaws but thats a bit of a tangent,) or a memorable event that damages the public's trust in something that SHOULD be innocent or harmless. (A good examples being the John Wayne Gacy trials.)
Clowns are also thought to be in the uncanney valley so ita a fairly good argument on cultural phenomenon versus genetic traits. Up until aroud the 60s-70s clowns were actually fairly well liked by the US general public and a lot of older generation still find a fondness in it that would scare the living shit out of their grandchildren.
As far as evidence that I may be right about the "uncanney valley might be because of rabies" theory, there has been a small case study suggesting that the movements of a non-human robot that trigger the effect in us, is also present in people with parkinsons but the sample size is too small for me to be thoroughly convinced.
And don't be mistaken I also dislike this concept because saying that ableism is an inherent human trait is just as bad as saying racism is an inherent human trait. There is little to gain from distrust in the disabled and little historical evidence to suggest it was common or beneficial to discard disabled people. Disabled people's remains have been found time and time again to live to incredibly long livea and be cared for, and participate in their communities. I'm highly critical of this particular case study and I take it with a grain of salt because its on cosmo, but evidence of human disabilities and compassion can be sourced by actual bones and it's been placed on VERY credible sources. NPR, NBC, Discovery, Nat Geo, NY Times, literally the clostest you can get to creme of the crop news articles on DOZENS of accounts and if you have a goddam problem then pay for a tour to the Smithsonian, find an archeologist and coherse them into showing you the bones and then explain phorensics to you because you probably wouldn't understand unless you too were a phorensic archeologist yourself.
What I DO BELIEVE tho is that if the uncanny valley is a legitimate inherent trait, that like most evolutionary traits, it made it this far for this long because it somehow served us benificially. And the biggest benifit I can think of is identifying neuro-infectious diseases because they can spread agressivley, many of them lead to death or lasting effects and are fucking MISERABLE to catch. We're talking brain swelling, fevers, uncontrollable vomiting, tremors, hallucinations, motor and vocal tics, difficulty swallowing, seizures. This could all happen because they eat infected deer meat or because of one bad fox bite. It's miserable if you survive and horrifying if you dont. Rabies can survive in your muscle tissue for years before infecting your brain and once it does usually you only live for about 5-10 days in and out of concious knowledge that you're going to die painfully, and disease aggrivated psychosis. It would be hard to pinpoint the causation because the amout of time before full blown infection would vary too much to assosiate for a long time. So your only option is to hone in on telltale signs.
The disabled people who would suffer from herdeditary or developmental neurological disorders run the risk of prejudice from mistaken identity, but if a human is part of a community, and doesn't die within a week from having a wobbly head, it would sooner or later become apparent that they're not dangerous. I think nowadays culturally people don't press to learn more about disabled people due to social and political prejudice and never fucking grow up past that. Mistaken identity or not. You learn about people from the patterns of their behaviors so even ones that seem abnormal to you become a normal recognizable pattern for them. Fancy that.
We don't get grossed out by chimps or gorillas, who are even more distant cousins, and the proof that we don't have a search and destroy button for anything immediatly related to us is a bunch of bullshit can be found in almost every human's blood on earth. And not just neanderthals, but denisovans as well. And that's not even accounting for genetic backtracking the crossbreeding of other sapiens species before we were whittled down to just the three. What makes the tweet even stupider is that when neandertals still roamed the earth humans were shorter, hardier, and overall more rough looking so we looked even indistinguished then. We Also Chewed On Bones and neandertals handled cold climates better than us based on a study on chest cavity density and, skull nasal intake and heat circulation, providing genetic diversity and the upper hand in survival in the tundras or mountainous regions spanning over Eurasia. If it wasn't for humans fucking neandertals we might not have been able to spread over the contient or diversify the way we did.
So my full hypothesis is that if the uncanny valley is a genetic inherent human trait it was used to benifit people from catching agressive diseases in a time where the benifit of fearing a group member with rabies outweighed the cost of fearing a group member with a disability like parkinsons.
WHAT PISSED ME OFF was the idea that we are DESIGNED to be unwary of our evolutionary cousins could easily be used for white supremacist spaces to justify racism BECAUSE IT ALREADY HAS
Tumblr media
So that one tweet that might seem like a quirky thinkpiece in my eyes is just fuel for eugenics trend round whatever number we're on. It's like we don't fucking learn. It would be REALLY easy to retool the concept that it's natural for people to be fearful of whatever the bullshit definition of sub-humans are. Claiming that black people were sub-human thus deserving of mistrust and submission to white ownership worked like a fucking charm.
Maybe if I go to college and major in psyche/socio/civics it'll be my college thesis. Right now I'm more of a hobbyist than anything, but what I DO know is that anyone can make an untested hypothesis to combat another untested hypothesis and it should hold just as much goddamn value. I combatted the idea that the idea that human othering was funneled into an unconfirmed effect that causes disgust and terror based on non-human sapiens is in fact racist and gave what is in my opinion a more evoluntionary practical approach to the uncanney valley.
The generalized links that I used APARENTLY weren't good enough for some people but aparently a single tweet that says "hur dur heedle dee uncanney valley exists because of human cousins" was taken at face value even tho it was probably tapped out in five seconds without regards to the reproccussions. I find a huge discomfort that less than studious links about the evolution of monkey social behaviors that I used as a guideline to explaining my concerns became the focal point for people to nitpick without even having the gall to "well actually" on the subject. That absolute ravaging NEED to rip apart at it and devolve into name calling because I MENTIONED racism is fucking suspicious and I don't trust it. I had to stop looking at the responses because some people were only reblogging and arguing with barely half of my argument and i was getting nowhere fast.
There were a few people that made actual points with cited sources that made their own rebuttle arguments. That I respect. It's just as valid an argument as mine and I'm ALWAYS willing to take on more credible sources to strengthen my stance or gain perspective.
But it's the utter dismissal of a concerning concept that just seeped into the subtext that gnawed at my gut. Some people on top of hating the linked sources I provided, admitted they didn't read it, refused to read between the lines to purposfully misinterpret or derail my main points, and detract that my claim that the tweet was a result of systemic white supremacy saturated into modern science was a bunch of bullshit because I claimed that 1500s anglos invented racism.
The thing is we did invent the racism that we fucking currently subscribe to.
We practice the science that we formulated based on our own social prejudice. Real people die from this.
We remain uncritical of our own theorums that we postulate then pat ourselves on the back like we're philosophical geniuses even though racism is a family heirloom with a new paint job.
We preach the eugenics ideals that we pulled out of our asses to benifit from fearmongering, promises of national security and unpaied labor.
White supremacists create subtext with the intention of it being consumed by accident or in ways that seem palatable.
Fuck.
That.
I don't hate the person who wrote the tweet. Chances are that they gave the tweet as much thought as they took the time to write it and went on their day as a fun little thinkpiece. Everyone on the internet does it. But its that kind of thinking error that needs to be adressed as a progression of historic and scientific prejudice that gets rehashed, recycled and untouched and continually damages and is weaponized against marginalized people. I am not wrong for taking it seriously especially when a bunch of people were sitting around nodding their heads just as effortlessly.
I don't owe the internet any more sources than the tweet. I don't owe anyone on the internet a full scientific ananysis. And the people's reaction to what I had to say was actually what further convinced me I might have hit the nail on the head.

Hayley Atwell. Publicly Adored Psychopath.
Before I begin, I feel it's imperative to mention that this was not created to cause harm. Do not send anyone hatred or harassment despite what you may read. You are not a monster. Do not stoop to that level. Verbal abuse is still abuse, whether we acknowledge it or not, whether someone 'deserves' it or not.
Please, do not do that. Do not become an abuser. If you feel the need to do something, I will provide solutions for that fact, but hatred and harm will not solve anything.
Keep that in mind. And please stay tuned and read this thoroughly because it's more than just a social call out. It's more than just 'cancel culture' or someone making a big whoop over something nonsensical or even holding someone accountable for their actions. I promise there is a point to this, and it is probably far more important than the title even suggests.
Please, stick with it, and read to the end.
I also feel the need to mention that some of the behaviors discussed in this piece will undoubtedly be quite... disturbing. Proceed with caution if you find it necessary.
And. Let it be known that any claims made here are in fact alleged. Evidence and sources will be provided of course, that's simply a friendly reminder for the... legality of it.
Forgive me if you enjoy this ending because if you have any sense of a decent moral compass, this will probably shatter that enjoyment of it, and forgive me if you do not because this will only make you hate it more.
So I found this blog:
Hydra Support Blog
Really, it's a blog centered entirely around hating Sharon Carter, the very real person that was her actress, Emily VanCamp, encouraging hatred towards this same very real person and her fans for any scrounged up nonexistent reason they can find, without proof, as well as fans of the comics.
They also insult her acting, despite the fact that Emily actually has won awards for her performances while the idol they are so devoted to has not.
All for the sake of the very real bully who actively encouraged, manipulated, and even to some degree, promoted the behavior. Under the guise of promoting her own character.
Why did I call them a Hydra support blog?
Well, quite clearly, they support the Creepy Uncle Theory that Endgame made a point to reward them with, which certainly does require the support of Hydra among other things, but I won't dive into that just yet. It's also because they sound exactly like Zola. Don't worry, we'll come back to it. But they are also quite clearly overjoyed at the idea of someone losing a job for their personal enjoyment.
This is also terrible.
Allow me to remind that this harassment and hatred was not limited to these fans, or fans of Peggy or Steggy. It also existed, to some degree among Romanogers fans, Stucky fans, and Stony fans. You know who you are. And you are certainly not excused from this behavior if you in any way participated in spreading hatred or contempt for the Staron and Sharon fanbase, or actively harassing those fans.
You don't have to like it, you can even rant against it all you like in your personal spaces. But being respectful and understanding should be the common fucking courteousy here. People are allowed to like different things from you. And they are not obligated to agree with you.
Your personal enjoyment is not worth more than someone's job or life. And it never should be.
However, the only actress who encouraged this particular behavior in full, among her fans... was Atwell.
Not Emily, not Chris, not Scarlett, not Sebastian, and not Robert Downey Jr. Some may have made tasteless jokes or even gone along with the situation, encouraging 'teams' among fans for publicity. I wouldn't label complete blamelessness in this case, but it is important to recognize ignorance over malicious behavior, which is the difference here. Because it was nothing to the extent of the tantrum that Atwell threw the moment the spotlight was no longer on her.
So let's talk about Hayley Atwell, and her involvement in all of this, the alleged actions and their implications. Let's take a deep dive into the psychology of it all, and why what she did was actually very wrong. I'll touch on the lack of etiquette and class as well as blatant unprofessionalism needed to consciously do what she did.
Because her behavior is disturbing, it is disgusting, and it has gone unnoticed for far too long. Her portrayal of Peggy makes the relationship canonically abusive. And no one noticed.
People are still defending her, and respecting her, despite what she's done. She is welcome to have a life and live it how she pleases, but not at the expense of other people. We cannot simply reward this type of behavior when it is unquestionably wrong. We cannot leave her with the power to do worse.
A good starting point in understanding what she's done would be here:
Receipts
Who one lovely sweetheart of a blogger decided to compile and I am ever so grateful for, as I'm a lazy shit~. My only regret is that this wasn't seen and still hasn't been seen by enough people, especially by those that rewarded or are even promoting the behavior still. This blogger is a very good person and that is abundantly clear, send her some love and reblog that post if you can. It's necessary more people see it. Thank you, love, you are truly a blessing. So I'm a little bias, I tend to be for good people.
Allow me to expand on it though, as I do have to mention, I have just a few minor additions and concerns. However, sources are provided perfectly, along with plenty of evidence to stand on it's own for what Atwell did. That this was active, deliberate, and intentional to hurt someone's career that wasn't herself. Allegedly.
But, let's also debunk some of Atwell's claims and mention a few other things, starting with all her claims about the relationship between Sharon and Steve. Between being 'disrespectful' and 'incestuous'.
Claims easily found in these articles:

https://www.themarysue.com/peggy-carter-does-not-approve/
Oh, and look at that last one, including a gif of the psychotic rage it takes to shoot at someone who doesn't belong to you, because you're jealous... And of course, we love a good afterthought in which a real person is less important than a fictional story.
https://screenrant.com/captain-america-mcu-ending-problem-sharon-carter-endgame/
Did I need to include all of those sources? Of course not. Are they mostly along the same lines? Absolutely. But does it make a point of how positively this was covered as the media ran with her words to give her as much press and coverage as she wanted and promote her and only her ideas?
Absolutely...
To put it all very bluntly, I disagree with her. Why?
Well, for starters, we know that 'Peggy' had initially moved on from Steve. She'd married, had a family, supposedly loved this family and even had grandchildren. The character had always, comics alike but even in the MCU, been meant to signify and aid in Steve moving on, just as she did, from the past. It was a minor role, but still vital, and quite endearing when done this way.
But according to this, these articles and Atwell herself.
Peggy never loved the husband she'd initially married, or the family she'd made.
They were only placeholders for Steve.
According to her, Steve wasn't allowed to move on from her. Wasn't permitted to find happiness, beyond her, even though her character had blatantly stated she wanted him to in 'CA:TWS'. As proven even by Atwell's feelings towards Romanogers. Seemingly any woman that wasn't Peggy was an absolute 'no' for her. Because he belonged to 'Peggy'. I didn't know... slavery was a thing for her, but as far as I know, people cannot and should not be ownable.
Under no circumstances, even with married couples, should the people involved be considered property. They are individuals and human beings. Point blank. Period.
But let's make an exception in her case and say that this is true. Well, apparently this controlled permission and ownership extends to Sharon as well?
Now I'll ask, why is Peggy's opinion, a woman Steve had previously only shared one kiss with, had never even managed to share that one date with, relevant at all?
A woman who, need I remind you is well into her 90s by the time we see her again, is Steve still supposedly all she thinks about? All she thought about all those years? Why was a picture of... him on her desk in the 70s, as portrayed in Endgame, when she should have been married, with children, well into her 50s mind you but somehow still young, and apparently, none of her family is as important as Steve?
How is that healthy?
She was tantamount to an ex-lover at that point. Even if they had slept together, as Atwell claimed, and Evans and the writers disproved. Are people supposed to consult ex-lovers before they start dating someone else? Especially ones that get married and live their lives? Is there some unspoken rule I don't know about? Or in another sense, I wasn't aware she was also his mother and could decide for him, a grown man with a right to his own decisions and autonomy, who had initiated the romance with Sharon, what he could and could not do.
Ideally, Peggy would have cared more about Sharon, a niece she had supported in her endeavors and helped raise, rather than a man she admired symbolically and had shared one kiss with, and never managed to date. Just because she didn't get dick from him. Ideally, she would have cared more about the family she'd allegedly made after moving on from this man's death. A family, Sharon would have been a part of.
Her concerns shouldn't have been cockblocking Steve and saying he couldn't have Sharon and vice versa, they should have been whether or not he's treating Sharon right. And far more protective over Sharon, than possessive over Steve.
In fact, a good great aunt who'd truly loved both of them, faced with this situation, I would have even imagined trying to set them up, and being that scandalous older woman~, who's lived her life, had fun, loved her family, and wants to see him happy with someone else.
Because that's what true love is.
Wanting to see the person you love, happy, even if it's without you, even if it can't be you that gives them that happiness, especially if you've had to move on in your own life and can't be with them.
I fail to see how Steve moving on after she has too, qualifies as 'disrespectful'. Even if you find it tasteless that he kissed Sharon after her death. Could he have asked for her permission and blessing for the relationship? Of course! Maybe he should have, I think this would have even made it better. The difference being, a Peggy who truly cared about him would have given her blessing, not withheld it.
But what about the 'incestuous' aspect?
Well, that's also a no. At least... not technically, and certainly not before Peggy was forced back into the relationship, before Steve willingly and knowing became Sharon's uncle. And Peggy's placeholders were set aside like chopped liver. Steve was certainly in a peculiar situation that maybe doesn't look the best from the exterior, and in the original version of the comics, Sharon was merely Peggy's younger sister. However, the comparison of his situation is easily explained and understood in much better lighting with some simple imagination.
Take for example, and let's even make Sharon a more direct descendant just to drive the point home, if Steve were an ancient vampire.
Let's say... this vampire Steve has a brief romantic fling with a young and beautiful Peggy. They do not sleep together. But share some feelings, some sweet passings, and a single kiss. However, Steve goes dormant, for years and years and years on end. However vampires do. Peggy is understandably sad for the moment, perhaps upset. But she moves on. She understands, she falls in love with someone new, she has children, and her children have children, and so on and so forth. She lives a normal human life.
Steve wakes up.
And he meets Sharon. A however many greats granddaughter of the woman he was once infatuated with. But he may not necessarily know this. They look nothing alike. But maybe there's something special in the bloodline that draws them together, that draws him to her.
Oh, and by the way, this is starting to sound familiar. Ever heard of the 'Vampire Diaries'? Except Elena and Katherine do in fact look exactly alike.
Yet no one bats an eye at this or calls it incestuous.
The point being, he falls in love. And she does too. And maybe this time, he decides he wants someone to be with, to hold, wholly and completely. And he turns Sharon into his immortal lover. (There's a fic idea for anyone that wants it~!)
Perhaps this was even something that under circumstance, he couldn't offer to Peggy, or she had even rejected.
This is not incest, in any way, shape, or form. This is a man, faced with a circumstance, in which he moves on. And is happy to do so. There is nothing wrong with that.
Could it be a little strange that he happens to fall for someone in Peggy's bloodline? Sure. But it's still not incest.
Unless~, he falls in love with Sharon... before deciding on takebacksies and finding a way to go back in time just to be with her however many greats grandmother. Possibly even ensuring that his own blood is part of Sharon's, or erasing her from existence along with any of the other family that Peggy had allegedly loved.
The first one is perfectly understandable. The second one is disgusting.
Peggy makes it incestuous.
But I suppose, according to Atwell, Peggy was also incapable of love.
Not just loving other people besides Steve, but love in general. Because this is called obsession, and it's sick. It's disturbing. Can't tell the difference? Here, that should help. This one too, very informative and does a good job of simplifying this concept for the average person. And what a coincidence. Oh, and look, another. And another.
Seriously, this is what Marvel, and Disney, a modern day company that should be responsible with it's messages and stories, glorified and normalized for the public.
If you're going to write a horror story, at least say it's a fucking horror story. Or take the goddamn criticism when someone tells you it is objectively bad.
So, not only did this woman completely fabricate and romanticize a crush, an unhealthy one, and blow it up to be a real relationship along with convincing everyone of the lie, she put others down to do so in order to get what she wanted, regardless of the price that others had to pay for it. Lovely. I think her claims completely undermine and disregard the legacy Peggy had left behind, and the love she would have otherwise had for her family. I think it's a gross mischaracterization of her that misses the mark on who 'Peggy Carter' was and what she represents.
Did you know that in the comics she has a relationship with Gabe Jones? One of Steve's own Howlies no less, and a wonderful representation of an interracial love fighting for what's right, together, especially for the time period?
Where's that love story, that doesn't require Steve to be a creepy uncle for her sake and is more than just an obsessive crush and single kiss?
Why does Sharon not matter to her? Why did her husband not matter? Why did her kids not matter?
And if you're under the assumption that Steve was this person the entire time, why did Hydra not matter growing within S.H.I.E.L.D.? Why did Steve's own principles and who he was not matter to her anymore, as long as she was getting dick? Why did Bucky not matter, being tortured by Hydra for the 70 years she got to get off?
Nevermind, I guess she treated him like shit anyway, even if ideally, the flirtatious little shit Bucky was would have been the best man at Steve's wedding to her, an uncle to her kids, and the best friend that Steve had in his life with her.
Why did Sharon still not matter to her? Nor her other family which she apparently lied to? Why did young Steve not matter enough to tell the truth to? And lie about Alzheimer's no less. Why did she seem to find it fitting to lie to everyone?
Let's continue.
If that's not enough, let's talk about the cry that Steve somehow 'wasn't good enough' for or 'didn't deserve' Peggy when the kiss of Civil War happened.
Okay...
How?
Because if your reasoning for the logic of putting someone down, telling them they are lesser, and 'not good enough' or undeserving of you, is because they choose to 'move on' and not be with you, or choose someone else over you?
You are a terrible person. And I would not want to be the object of your affection.
That is deliberate psychological abuse. And if you tell anyone that sort of thing, just because they don't or can't return your feelings, you are a fucked up person. Fuck you. That is disgusting.
Do not ever tell someone this just because they can't or choose not to love you. Apologize if you ever have, especially to someone you do love. Love is not always an active choice. And this is guilt tripping, manipulating, gaslighting someone into a situation where you put them down for your personal benefit, and that is nasty, unacceptable behavior that no one should tolerate.
Call out someone's own terrible behavior if they are doing something wrong, do not jump to the conclusion that this means the person is worthless. There is a difference. Harmful behaviors can be changed. People can change and get better. We should strive to be better.
However, the aforementioned? That is what psychopaths do to ensure their control over a relationship, run if someone is doing this to you. Find a way to get out of there if you can, because that is fucked up, and no, you deserve better than that. Do not let them belittle you.
And yet, this was... completely glorified by the media, even rewarding someone who committed to this type of behavior. Especially after the fact.
How many articles are there out there that critique Endgame versus those that promote this ending and actively defend it? Giving Disney good press?
But luckily, Atwell only did it with the characters, right? It's only fictional, right?
Yeah, that's why we didn't see Emily in Infinity Wars or Endgame... That's why, even though she'd been hired for a job she had earned, they kept kicking her down the road like a bent, empty can. Worthless and usable, and not a real person at all. Why did they hire her if this had 'always been the plan' as they claimed? To disgust everyone? To make the ending as fucking shitty as it is and have people praise them for it? To publicly embarrass and humiliate her, just because?
The lack of class and just... human decency necessary to commit this kind of behavior is easily seen with a hypothetical comparison, simply with another well beloved actress I will admit might not be a fully fair comparison. But that's because this actress is amazing and not many people compare to her.
But let's take a pause and also consider the actions of Atwell's coworkers, since none of them did quite what she did. None of them... did quite what she did.
You know who else would never do this, even if she'd been playing Peggy Carter and got her show cancelled? Who realistically, wouldn't have gotten her show cancelled because she actually is amazing and would be worth watching, hands down, no complaints.
Sandra Bullock.
And I'd hate to name drop like that or put her on the spot, but just consider it for a moment. Sandy B. as Peggy Carter. Already, beautiful, elegant, amazing, maybe a bit funnier, compassionate, kind, and playing the part of the loving aunt for Sharon perfectly. Even more comic accurate probably! Sandra Bullock would never take time out of her day for any reason, to put down one of her costar's characters and talk trash about this character and the relationship she's in with another character... Ever. Period.
She has class, grace. And she's a truly, genuinely good human being. In fact, I would wager to say, she'd make jokes about it to promote the relationship. As the crazy aunt who's constantly trying to set Steve up with someone new, probably her niece, and embarrassing the shit out of him. And that image is just fucking adorable.
Can you picture it? It's pretty amazing, right?
Now can you really defend Atwell's actions knowing they could have been avoided and a real person, real people, not hurt with them?
I guarantee this ending would have never happened had someone at least like Sandra Bullock been cast as Peggy Carter. Even if she did happen to 'ship' Peggy and Steve more than she did Sharon and Steve. Even if she did 'joke' about it. Especially when there's a point the jokes go too far. And I'd wager to say, she'd even focus more on helping Emily VanCamp, than putting down her character and sicking her pack or rabid bullies on her to try and get her to kill herself.
What the actual fuck has to be wrong with someone to do something like that. Even without giving the direct order.
And sure, maybe fans do ride the crazy train a bit to much. But the least we could expect from Bullock would be a public statement regarding the behavior, and letting fans know that she doesn't condone it and would want them to stop.
I challenge you to find anything along those lines that Atwell could have done. I tried.
And there was nothing.
Let's continue with the character analysis and talk a bit about the implications of this ending.
So far, we know Peggy hated Sharon, her own niece, that she 'owns' Steve and has all rights to his autonomy and decisions, doesn't care about her husband or family if Steve isn't somehow part of it, and would label Steve 'unworthy' of her if he somehow decided he loved someone else. Not just Sharon, but anyone.
Let's also not forget this is a woman who shot at him for having kissed someone else in front of her. When they weren't together. Would you want and choose to date someone who shot at you for doing that?
I mean, I suppose I don't personally know you, maybe you're into some kinky shit. But that doesn't really seem to healthy to me.
Let's talk about little Steve and Erskine, and the promise Steve made to him as well as himself. His character development over the movies and what this ending requires not just of him, but of Peggy too.
From the first movie, we know that even when Steve wasn't capable of doing more, when his body didn't permit him to, he always wanted to do more. Erskine in his dying moment asked him not to forget his heart. The man that would choose to do good above all else. To help those around him that maybe couldn't help themselves. This is an invaluable lesson I think we could all learn from, within our capacities of course.
Bucky even tried to stop Steve from hurting himself, because he worried about him. And then followed him because he admired what the little guy... had always stood for. And against.
“I don't want to hurt anyone. I don't like bullies, I don't care where they're from.”
By the end of the film, Steve has lost someone incredibly dear to him that he grew up with, Bucky, and makes the decision to save thousands of lives that would otherwise be lost over his own personal enjoyment. Because it's the right decision. And he tells Peggy it's his choice. He doesn't hesitate. He doesn't expect to survive, but he keeps his promise to Erskine above all else, and stops Hydra, or so we think.
We later discover Hydra has survived all those years through Zola. Growing in S.H.I.E.L.D., under Peggy's watchful eyes... holding Bucky for all that time.
With the addition of Endgame's Creepy Uncle Theory, that little tidbit of the story, we've been given two interpretations. There's also a lot of lines that lose all meaning, from Steve, Peggy, and Sharon.
“When I see a situation pointed south, I can't ignore it.”
“Sometimes, all we can do is our best, and sometimes the best is the start over.”
“She kept so many secrets, I didn't want her to have one from you.”
“I don't know, the guy who wanted all of that went into the ice 70 years ago, I think someone else came out.”
But let's go back to those interpretations, both of which require someone to suffer on Steve and Peggy's behalf for a minimum of 70 years. Apart from becoming a creepy uncle who apparently had been only using Sharon as a replacement for her. And of course abandoning everyone who loved him just to get laid. This may not be easily seen or understood at first glance. But it is easily explained and should be painfully obvious.
If Steve is present in the main universe that entire time, choosing to do nothing, he has:
Abandoned Sharon.
Abandoned his family, the Avengers.
Abandoned Bucky.
Abandoned the principles he lived by and thrown away promises to all those he held dear. Including his promise to Erskine, who gave him that power to do more to begin with.
Left Hydra undisturbed and even prospering under his beloved wife's organization, allowing people to die and suffer, including Bucky who we know is tortured and in and out of ice for those years.
Be perfectly happy with the sexism, racism, and just general bigotry of the time period. Something that at least comics Steve Rogers has been proven to hate so much, he actively made himself go forward in time permanently, after only saving Bucky, because he couldn't stand it. No amount of Peggy to fix the situation for him. She's also never mattered as much as any other love interest to him. Not even Blind Al, that one's obscure~.
Be perfectly happy to do nothing while a situation is pointed south, even though he has previously stated incapable of doing so? While he knows what will happen or that people are suffering and dying for him and Peggy, what he will do to Sharon, and just completely and utterly not giving a shit.
Huh... Well, none of that sounds 'good'. I guess it also means he completely regrets his decision to save all those lives and sacrifice himself. A decision... I assumed he was the type of person to be able to make more than once if necessary. Because it was who he was. And supposedly, what Peggy even respected him for. I assumed Peggy would have also respected this decision, not backtracked to make him actively do the opposite of this very thing for 70 years. Possibly even... if we're to believe Hydra is allowed to run rampant all those years, potentially thousands of lives to be killed on his behalf instead.
Huh, I guess it was a pointless decision.
“We don't trade lives.”
Right?
And we're supposed to believe Mjolnir, a tool essentially measuring 'selflessness' and humility, purity of heart, 'worthiness', would be perfectly fine with labeling this behavior as 'good' as well.
That just seems like a pipe dream for every sod who can't get laid and has a backwards moral compass, but let's not dive into that.
Despite the fact that he's also abandoning all sense of self and is nothing more than a mindless puppet at this point. Through 'Steve Rogers' choosing this ending... he is actively doing wrong, and knows it. He is actively allowing Hydra to prosper, and... essentially...
Proving Zola right.
“We won, Captain. Your life amounts to your death, a zero sum!”
Familiar now, isn't it? But I guess every message we learned about Steve, in light of everything, in light of Peggy, is meaningless so long as he's... getting laid. Or 'happy'.
That doesn't sound fucked up at all, being perfectly okay with people suffering on your behalf. But I suppose it's no surprise that the people who love Atwell so much and are perfectly okay with her behavior feel the same way...
And here's the thing, I don't think 'Steve Rogers'... the real one in context of his story anyway, would be happy in a setting he needs to let others suffer on his behalf, and ignore their suffering, in order for him to be happy. Looking at his character just over the previous movies, I'd say this would in actuality be literal torment for him.
Spidey gave a perfect rendition that completely embodied everything Steve Rogers stands for and had stood for in those movies.
“When you can do the things that I can, but you don't, and then the bad things happen... They happen because of you...”
What a coincidence. And another important message.
If you actually think a man like Steve, a first responder by nature, who always seeks out the goodness in others and wants to help people, would suddenly sit on his ass and allow people to suffer for him? When he couldn't even do this while too small to make any real impact?
You are delusional. And it is disturbing that you would somehow label that as 'good', as 'cute', as 'healthy', as 'right', as 'true love'. As 'happy' for him.
This is a man, forced into retirement, under the 'guise' of a 'choice', when in reality, it is atrociously horrible writing that disregards anything about who he was and what he stood for. That had he been real, this would have been a disservice to him and is certainly one to every important message the character has, and the history behind him. He would have been stuck in this world. Trapped, and held back from doing anything. By someone who supposedly 'loves' him?
Love doesn't hold people back or hold on possessively like a fucking parasite, it sets people free.
Why would she do that to him? Why would she sit back and assume all of those things are 'okay'? How? Why would anyone want her to??? I thought Peggy was supposed to be a good character inspired by upholding his message. Did she break the vial? Did she keep him in her basement? Did she tell him to sit on his ass and 'look pretty' while she did all the work? A fucking horrible job I might add, if she just lets Hydra run rampant and kill Howard for her sake. How is someone like that admired as a 'good' person?
Nothing about this is 'good'.
This ending is not 'beautiful'. It is a horror story masquerading as something 'pretty'. It is an abuse story being normalized to a vast and unknowing public. At best, a horribly irresponsible message to send the public... and at worst... a reflection of what's wrong with society as a whole. Possibly with ulterior and deliberate intentions.
In order for this ending to happen, Steve Rogers must cut ties with his family and abandon all he loved, loves, lives for, all sense of self... all for Peggy, and solely Peggy's, satisfaction. Seems oddly... familiar to a certain situation his best friend, who seemingly means nothing to him, happened to be in... for 70 years.
Let's reverse the roles. If Steve had been a female to do this for a man's sake? The first thing people would notice is how unhealthy the relationship is. How obsessive it is. How harmful it is. And how disgusting the normalization of it is. In a media that has a far reach and should be so much more fucking responsible with the messages they send their viewers.
Knowing that there are so many sacrifices, ones that shouldn't be made, and that every sacrifice comes from Steve's end, would you willingly call this relationship healthy? Beautiful? 'True love'?
When in reality, they'd only shared one kiss, and never dated?
Yeah. Seems legit.
On the flip side, you have that other interpretation, right? The one where he's in an alternate universe and lets his Peggy live her life with another man, but steals this Peggy both from her future husband and himself.
You'd think it gets better, right? I mean he can fix this universe in full, he might fuck something up and we might consider it a bit irresponsible to play with timelines like that, but he can always just go back if it goes too bad. He's earned it, his shot at this life, still disregarding Sharon and now... a version of himself. A Steve still trapped in the ice. Still suffering on his behalf. While he lives out his life with supposedly this Steve's girl, this Steve's Bucky, and this Steve's entire potential life.
Oh, and apparently this Peggy really doesn't care about the Steve trapped in the ice, since she's also fine with a replacement that's totally different from the one she knew~! That's not weird or fucked up at all.
Leaving him to wake up, alone, in the future having known the life he wanted was knowingly taken by someone else. Someone selfish enough to leave him in the ice. Bucky's alive and safe from Hydra, yay! Apparently... no version from this alternate universe is worth giving the shield to though. So I guess Steve ultimately didn't love these replacements as much. And of course, this is assuming Steve doesn't also just leave this universe as is for everything else terrible to happen.
This is assuming he gives a shit at all. Because if he had?
Tell me why... defrosting the alternate Steve to live out a life with his own Peggy, to at least make sure one of them got that 'happy ending', could still do good, without abandoning anyone, could kick ass, could fix everything in this alternate timeline, maybe even with a few tips from this time traveling Steve, somehow wasn't acceptable compared to 'Steve Rogers' actively and willingly doing, and allowing terrible things to happen, and abandoning everyone else who loved him.
Once again, cut off from his family and replacing them all with clones.
This is supposed to be better?
Did he ever really love Peggy, or just the way she looked since any identical twin happened to work just fine?
Tell me why, if Chris Evans just wanted to stop playing the role, Steve going back for just the dance and asking for Peggy's blessing to marry Sharon, presumably after they'd actually made an effort to develop the relationship, presumably after Peggy has made her peace with loving someone else, and then coming back to not abandon his family or any of his principles or promises he made, or just who he is in general, and proposing to Sharon with Peggy's blessing and understanding, wouldn't have been better and more respectful in all ways?
With the characters, with their history, with their messages. Tell me how it wouldn't have been better to simply have him out of the spotlight and training recruits, but still actively being who he was and doing good somehow couldn't have been acceptable?
There, I can write a better ending than those quack professionals Marvel hired. Simple, easy, done. Where's my fucking job~?
Instead of demolishing every part of who he was, using an anti-bullying character... to reward bullying no less?
Even if Evans wanted to retire or would have made a decision like this, doesn't mean Cap would have ever even remotely done something similar. At least not a good version of him. Upholding the symbolic moral message the character presents would have been easy, but they were too stupid to even try.
Tell me how this ending doesn't disrespect a previous almost 60 years of an established comic relationship, a relationship need I remind in which Sharon was pregnant with Steve's child, one sadly lost, and later shared an adopted son with him. A relationship, that should they disrespect and retcon for Peggy's sake, will only serve to make Steve Rogers seem like a terrible person with no sense of loyalty to a woman he supposedly loved and has spent a good chunk of his life with. As opposed to sharing one kiss or brief romance with. For all intents and purposes, Sharon being his common law wife.
Ironically, the very thing Atwell claimed this relationship did in the MCU, despite the fact that her character only shared a single kiss with Steve, canonically. And she lied and actively manipulated fans into believing it was so much more. When... watch the movies, it wasn't.
Tell me how this ending doesn't disrespect the characters, including Peggy, and the messages they have conveyed, the convictions they've held over the years of their history, and the symbolism which I would argue is much more important, that they represent. Tell me how it doesn't somehow disrespect and belittle Bucky, Erskine, the idea that Howard was Steve's friend, or that any of the people Steve loved actually mattered to him, beyond Peggy.
Beyond getting laid. Because deny it all you want, that is what this ending boils down to. That is the only reason it exists.
Or, actually, I'd wager it also exists to actively squash the importance of the messages the characters convey.
Here's an idea. Johann Schmidt and comics Hydra Cap both have more conviction and loyalty to their cause than EG Cap. And Schmidt post IW/EG arguably causes less harm than EG Cap actively allows to happen right beside himself, because Schmidt is incapable of doing much as the stone's guardian.
And at least Hydra Cap made sense within the context of his storyline.
Prove me wrong.
That's the sort of Cap you have to support to like this ending. Hydra complacent, bigotry complacent, and completely castrated, or at the very least, willing to replace everyone he loves with clones while he takes an alternate Steve's life. Frankly, that's not a Cap I think anyone should support. And I don't think any fans, especially Peggy or Steggy fans should be somehow proud of the fact that this is the sort of 'Steve' that Peggy gets.
I mean... I suppose it is in fact the kind of Steve that sort of Peggy, equally complacent and horrible, would deserve? But that doesn't really stop it from being gross, does it?
Is that really what you'd want as a fan?
I've mentioned that Atwell's alleged behavior is inappropriate, excessive, disturbing. And I'll also mention, this kind of obsession for fictional characters is unhealthy. So why did she do this? Why the behavior at all, why did she go out of her way to essentially hurt Emily, discreetly of course, without people noticing? Why all the manipulation?
Well... it gets worse. And this is certainly where that allegedly becomes very important.
Take a moment to think for a minute about who benefited from this ending and how.
Atwell, most certainly, at Emily's expense of course. At the expense of fans. And an actual well written product we wouldn't get immediate buyer's remorse from. And of course maybe one that doesn't insult our intelligence?
You could assume she simply wanted money. Though somehow... that doesn't really fit. Maybe spotlight? That makes a little more sense, though just as bad. It's seedy, it's spiteful, it's uncomfortably close to a bad Harlequin manga villain. If you've ever read one of those.
They're based off old trashy romance novels if that gives any reference.
Except... what if you replaced every instance of 'Steve, Sharon, and Peggy', with instances of herself and Chris? With the names, 'Chris, Emily, and Hayley'.
Except Emily is happily married now, and can easily identify the difference between a romantic interest in her work, and in real life. Can easily discern a job from her private life. Because that's what a good, stable, actress or actor can easily do.
Suddenly, the situation takes on a very different meaning.
How creepy would that have been for her to do? Along with easily dismissed by the public.
Keep in mind, this is a woman who publicly admitted to, and even in plain view, groping this man, multiple times, without his explicit consent because she 'couldn't help herself'. Okay. Big deal, right? So she touched his 'man boobs' a couple times. He laughed it off, it was all good fun. Why would he complain, it's different, men shouldn't be complaining about being touched without their permission by beautiful women. Despite the fact that they're not, nor have they ever been, in a romantic relationship together.
It's perfectly appropriate for a woman to grope a man as she pleases, whether he is in a relationship with her or even other people, or not. He can't feel uncomfortable because of this, only woman can. Why would he ever be uncomfortable about it, and if he was, he would have said so. He loves her, they're friends!
Let me know if the hypocrisy needed for that logic is falling through the cracks here, because that seems like a dangerous double standard to set.
You shouldn't be allegedly or otherwise, touching or really molesting, in her own words 'groping', anyone publicly and suddenly, especially without their consent. But let's assume he was okay with every single time it had happened. Okay. Sure. Fine. It's his body to decide with who can touch him like that, who can invade his personal space and how, right? And besides, he loves the attention and being objectified by women.
That's clearly why he'll make an effort to actually call out and put people on the spot who pretend to talk to him through a faked photoshopped encounter, right? Clearly why he absolutely hates that.
Now let's assume he wasn't.
Why would he ever admit to that if the response we can expect is that 'he's a man, so he should be okay with it'? As if men somehow don't have a right to their own bodies or can't be sexually harassed and molested, abused, raped, you name it. Objectified maybe? Why would we be suspicious of the behavior or tell someone that it's wrong, without the full story even though it's happening in our plain view?
Playfulness and comfort between friends is one thing, boundaries between them is another, and friends can still cross boundaries they shouldn't. Sometimes they do. Consider the fact of a known straight man and a woman who is attracted to him, and suddenly the implications change. The man, so far, has not shown even remotely the same attraction.
But why would we suspect her behavior would entail anything other than support for her own character that she played, and the ship she was a part of, which had been respectfully written out of the story and made to move on? It's not like she was actively dragging down a woman, a real person, another actress that essentially got in her way, and the part she wanted to play. Kissing Chris Evans.
It's not like she claimed she'd be the best choice for Sharon's actress in blonde wig before Emily was cast. Oh wait...
Was that in that little blog sourcing everything she did and claimed? I can't remember.
And this is all speculation of course. But I think it's very important speculation. And especially, is a reason to be suspicious of everything she did. But I of course can't read her mind, only look at what she did do and what there's proof of. Allegedly.
Seems like an extreme extant to go to to to get an extra kiss from an actor, right? An actor who, mind you, dated other people, not her, and seemed to ultimately choose his dog over anyone. And of course, since we're speculating.
Under the pretense that 'Peggy' gets 'Steve', 'she' got the 'man' that everyone else wanted, right? She lived that fantasy, married him, and had kids with him, and everyone else is just jealous of her. The characters are meant for each other, she can take no blame in what's done with the characters.
Except when encouraging hatred among her fans and negative press for the company and story so long as it doesn't revolve around her.
In this light, looking at the facts, her alleged behavior is extremely creepy.
When you consider the fact that Evans suddenly, and I mean suddenly wanted to quit playing the character, seemingly out of nowhere when just a year before still wanting to do so, and at the same time, he admitted to loving the idea of continuing to play Cap, and even the prospect of doing a movie with Deadpool and Wolverine. Something that would have been brilliant by the way, and I lament that it apparently won't happen every day.
Source
Yes, there is a very special relationship there, read a fucking comic~.
Let's consider the fact that Evans said this about his 'final scene of Endgame'. To sow just a little bit of discord. Of course, there's no guarantee that this scene had anything to do with that one he shared with 'Peggy'. Speculation.
Let's assume it did. Let's go beyond and say, Hayley was the entire reason Evans wanted to quit. The entire reason he wouldn't fight this, and was done playing the character. Let's assume this was the last straw for him, and that he quit just to get away from her.
Allegedly.
Let's assume for just a moment, he was no longer comfortable or happy around this woman. And she was breaking him down. Let's assume he was just tired of all the bullshit, had maybe even seen it for what it really was, was even creeped out. And decided, sure. 'I'll keep my mouth shut... as long as I don't have to deal with her'.
We can also assume he's being... strongarmed into silence somehow, either by the company or by her. Maybe I'm going out on a limb here, but that man hasn't looked the slightest bit happy as of late, and it's noticeable in his interviews. Maybe there's a reason for that. But maybe this idea is pushing it a tad too far, let's take a step back for a moment and remember the simple fact that this is speculation.
Based on alleged actions and circumstantial evidence.
I could absolutely be wrong and I am willing to admit that.
If Chris Evans wanted to call me out on this, correct me about Atwell and her behavior specifically towards him in this regard, I would welcome it. Even if he managed to prove me wrong about the bullying, provide an article or interview of some kind that does in fact prove her innocence, I would be more than happy to take a look at it and retract everything I've mentioned here regarding her, and her behavior. Even delete this post, and publicly apologize to her.
I want to be wrong about this, because it is fucked up, it is creepy, it is something he should not have had to, or have to ever deal with. It is not something Emily should have ever had to deal with, let alone the fans.
Nor is it something that we should simply tolerate and accept from Hayley Atwell. From or towards anyone.
Chris Evans is a human being. Emily VanCamp is a human being. Both of them deserved the utmost respect from Atwell, along with everyone else, neither of them received this from her. Allegedly.
The messages conveyed by that rottenly horrific ending can't even begin to compare to how important this simple fact is.
Real people were hurt. Bullies were rewarded. This should not have happened. We cannot simply allow it to happen now, or in the future. We cannot simply allow more harm to be done, with the continued bullying from that Hydra Support Group I mentioned, and their continued attempts to get Emily fired and Sharon removed from the comics.
That they quite clearly don't give a shit to buy or even read.
Why is this important now, of all times, during a pandemic that is keeping us all indoors with nothing better to do?
Well for one, I'm indoors with nothing better to do than come across bullshit like this. There's also something to be publicly said about female abusers and how important it is that we start to recognize when these situations might be happening. Whether from a man or a woman. And whether to a man, or another woman. If she didn't hurt Chris, she certainly didn't hesitate to hurt Emily.
I have friends... that were living their lives off of the messages Cap taught and inspired in people. Good friends, good people. And maybe it seems silly to linger on something like that, but I can say first hand it is heartbreaking to watch those people get that same inspiration, those same moral messages ripped away, and stolen from them.
And be left struggling with trying to hold on to those messages, but try as they may, not being able to. And then come a few epiphanies, a few discoveries.
This shit. The bullying. The behavior, the fact that we as fans were given a normalized abusive relationship, and told it was somehow good, somehow just, somehow right. That that's the message we are being given in place of everything else...
I had a friend have a panic attack because of this ending, after she tried to rationalize that it was okay, that it was 'sweet', and 'cute', and understandable. Because it hit a little too fucking close to home for her, and now she just relives that, remembers it with almost any part of what her favorite thing in the world was. And that is horrifying to know...
“I helped support this. I gave them money. I dedicated years of my life to following this.”
And it goes so much more beyond regretting that decision. It goes so much more beyond being able to simply move on and somehow keep those symbols, or at least the core messages beyond them and disassociate them from the characters when you can't escape reminders of it. When you can see so incredibly clearly what it really means, what really happened, and everyone else around you just accepts that something so fundamentally wrong is something right.
Here's a question, can you sue a company that's so profoundly built an empire, so embedded itself into your day to day life that you can't escape a personal trauma being reminded of it in something you paid for and actively support for years from this company? Does that count as some form of being publicly irresponsible and projecting harmful ideologies?
Is that something someone can do, or is it just something a 'Karen' would do? Would the sheer evil it takes to become that type of person, to dawn that haircut and demand to speak to a manager be worth it in the end?
“What did it cost?”
“Everything...”
Yeah, it really fucking did.
Oh hey, by the way. Hayley Atwell is definitely a Karen. Just thought I might point that out. Why else would she throw a massive tantrum to get someone bullied out of a franchise because she's not getting her way or the spotlight on her? She's just an evolved one.
Allegedly.
I am all for people policing their own content and being respectful of creators, and understanding that fiction is different from reality. Not every concept will be stomachable or enjoyable by absolutely everyone. Horror in itself is a perfect example of that, especially psychological horror.
I can also say without a doubt that I hate knowing that the people I care about are so heavily affected by something they had initially used to make themselves a better person, that should remain fictional and symbolic but just somehow forces itself to go beyond that.
I hate knowing a corporation could be so irresponsible that this is the message they get billions of dollars for, that this is what they give to the public, that this lack of care or even noticing what they've done and who they've rewarded, and the continued behavior...
The bullying, and despite every piece of criticism screaming at them just how fucked up this is.
But no, they can't take two fucking seconds, to think 'maybe we made a bad move and shouldn't stick by this considering what it's done or is doing to fans'. 'Maybe we should be more responsible with the power and influence we happen to have'...
Except they knew.
“It might end the whole franchise.”
What kind of context am I supposed to imagine for those words. Especially in light of a franchise that had a multitude of plans to continue.
What the fuck does that mean?
And isn't that the most piss soaked cherry on top of this shit cake?
Hayley's words in the interview represent how little she cared about the character, about the franchise, about the fans, or the messages conveyed, as long as she got what she wanted.
And she did.
Publicly... adored... psychopath.
Allegedly.
Cap's core message is something so incredibly vital, I believe, to this world. Especially in these times. Especially when it comes to making progress.
“Doesn't matter what the press says. Doesn't matter what the politicians or the mobs say. Doesn't matter if the whole country decides that something wrong is something right. This nation was founded on one principle above all else: the requirement that we stand up for what we believe, no matter the odds or the consequences. When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world –"No, you move."”
Especially in a world that will actively tell and show us that human lives aren't worth a dime a fucking dozen to the people we let control our world. Especially when we should be telling these same people.
“No, fuck you, that's wrong.”
And yeah, that fucking sucks. It fucking sucks to have family that is vulnerable to something potentially deadly, to be vulnerable to it, and have no control over that. It fucking sucks to know people you may trust will not even give a shit. And it is fucking hard to keep hope when everything around you just seems to be falling apart.
And you can't do a damn thing.
But this message teaches us just that. To not lose hope. To not lose faith. To keep fighting for what we believe in, and make things better. Isn't that the whole point of criticism? Challenging ideas, beliefs, so that we can discern right from wrong and have a better understanding of what that might be? So that we can improve? What a hell of time it would be to have this message with us. What a hell of a time for us to need this message, now more than anything... and not have it.
What a hell of a time for someone to willingly quit portraying and sending that message... Though I can't say I'd blame him, he's only human, it's a heavy burden to bear, and if Atwell really did do all of this just to kiss him... Allegedly.
Well, I'd wanna get away from her too. Provided it was willing at all. I get mixed signals from that guy. And trust him about as far as I can throw him. I am a weak bitch, so that is not very far... But... professional liar, so.
He could also be the world's biggest troll, cause I don't believe for a second he didn't know how fans would react to this. Which... biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitch. But also, RESPECT.
And also, BITCH! Be serious for a goddamn second, this is fucking important!
But this message also teaches rebellion.
What a hell of a message to publicly squander in order to keep people complacent, for the sake of pretending someone gets a 'happy' horrific ending, finally getting laid. Like neither of those things were something that couldn't be found in the future while still preserving the legacy of the character.
Right?
Ironically, it was a message they had helped to represent with Sharon, and still there's the issue of her and fans being publicly bullied and disrespected, once again, a real person, people, for Atwell's sake.
If we only surround ourselves by those that tell us what we want to hear, rather than the truth, we can only stagnate our growth.
If we only care when we are finally forced to face the problems evident, can we really call ourselves virtuous?
If we do nothing knowing something is wrong, what does this say about us?
I'm just as guilty in not noticing these sorts of things as they happen until it's too late, but I'd like to hope I'm getting better and paying more attention, and that we can still do better.
What's the point of all this, and what can we do?
As I said before, I do not want to cause harm. I do not want people to go and harass anyone for alleged wrong doings or behavior of any sort. I do not want people to lose entire jobs or livelihoods over this. But it is clear something is wrong, and we certainly need to right it. I also don't believe any of the parties involved are somehow beyond redemption. Even Hayley.
If Marvel had any sense, especially now, they would retcon this, however necessary, first off. They don't even need Evans to do that, they can do something as simple as making a comic that undoes this nasty ending and saves Cap, and the other characters, from being made into an empty shell and castrated version of himself. Or at least make a solid plan to and very publicly apologize to Emily for the situation and discourage such behavior among their fandom. Hayley would do the same, not just to fans but especially to Emily, and maybe even Chris.
If you ever participated in this behavior and now understand that it was wrong, I would encourage you to go give Emily your love and support and apologize to her for this mess and what she had to deal with on behalf of fans. She deserved far better. She still deserves better.
If Hayley refused to acknowledge or even publicly address this? Or Marvel, Disney for that matter, well it would just go to show that they'd want it all swept under the rug instead of being held accountable for what happened. Something that's certainly a disrespect to Walt Disney , as he was able to make amends and admit to his mistakes publicly, and it's a stain on the legacy he left behind that the current Disney can hardly be bothered to.
And yes, believe it or not, there's a way to not let them do this without aggressive harassment.
My first suggestion is meme the shit out of it. Be an absolute troll and make a joke of this giant fucking joke of a company that can't even put two and two together for basic story elements. To an extant that will publicly embarrass them for sure, be relentless, but don't send hate.
Just show everyone the clowns they are~.
I've been told this can also be a bit mean though. And clearly, we can't simply let them forget it or forget it ourselves.
The second, ask questions. Simply ask for this to be addressed, try to get it noticed as best you can. Send them this across as many platforms as you can to as many people as you can. Or even just the smaller blogs I linked. Repost, reblog, and share this as much as you can and make it something they can't ignore without sending them direct hate and harassment. Copy and paste or just send a link to this in a concerned email to the corporation. Make sure their offices are absolutely buzzing with the news. Ask, don't demand, your favorite MCU actors to publicly speak out about this, please. Keep asking until you get some sort of response.
Without being rude.
Because it may take time, it may take effort, but it is important, and it certainly should be addressed. And never allowed to happen again.
As for Atwell and her bullies?
Well, first let me congratulate her.
She played herself. All those jokes about turning Peggy into a supervillain and that's exactly what she did. With her own wants and desires, not Peggy's.
But otherwise be kind, be courteous, and hold your grace and elegance. Treat her with the same respect you would want for yourself and do not stoop to her or their level. Do not insult her. Ask her, 'what's wrong'? Ask her why she did this, if she's okay. Ask her to stop, to speak out about it, to address the situation and to understand why she didn't do it sooner. Ask her if she's seeking help for whatever psychological issues she may have that would push her to do something like this, wish her well, and tell her you hope she finds the help she needs and learns that what she did was wrong. Let her know you're disappointed if you're a fan.
She definitely shouldn't be allowed to keep relishing in the reward and aftermath of what she did, and she definitely owes Emily, and possibly Chris, an apology for all the bullshit she encouraged and did. Her behavior, allegedly, is fucking creepy.
But she's still a human being, behaviors are correctable.
Simply address the fact that it was wrong and ask her if she understands that. Also maybe that... public molestation isn't okay? Allegedly.
Do the same for her bullies, if they are rude to you, simply tell them:
'Oh... you support Hydra... you're entitled to your opinion, but I'll have to disagree.'
And leave it at that. Just take comfort in the fact that you can recognize an abusive relationship and don't support it. You cannot force them to change their minds if they don't want to, do not antagonize them or potentially bring harm to yourself by doing so. And yes, that is admittedly a bit mean, a bit trollish~, and the reality is they probably don't support Hydra... But they also kinda have to to support this ending somehow.
The writers 'confirmed' Hydra Trash Party as canon while the directors 'confirmed' everyone in Steve's life being replaceable.
And he still becomes a creepy uncle while someone needs to suffer on his behalf for 70 years.
Fantastic~! I'm accepting neither and I give you no money until it's fixed! Because it's gross~!
If this situation is addressed by everyone involved, and any allegations and speculations I've made are in fact proven true, but let's say Atwell still publicly refuses to admit to anything she did or apologize to Emily. Even if Disney does. Well, she'll be proving exactly what type of person we suspect her to be. And only then would I consider it acceptable for the company to completely erase her from the franchise in turn and blacklist her from what they produce. Some people might consider that too nice, I think it's reasonable, you're free to disagree.
Not necessarily her character though, Peggy has actually done nothing wrong on her own, she's a fictional character best represented by good writers, and malleable according to that. And I would certainly even encourage much better character explorations and portrayals of her. But Hayley herself, who would then become pretty much a poster child for harassment and bullying, and defending psychopathic behaviors...
Allegedly.
If people try to silence you, ignore you, keep trying, keep spreading the message, keep going as much as you can, until we manage to get this addressed and the situation finally corrected.
Do not support the company, or actress that refuses to address this. Do not support people that do terrible things without holding them accountable. Do not allow them to simply get away with it, but do not lose your own humanity for their sake.
I know first hand how fucking hard it is not to lose your shit when shit like this happens. And nobody notices. But I guarantee, throwing a fit of rage will get nothing done, and they will try to use it against you.
If they manage to prove me wrong in any regards? Great! I will be fucking overjoyed! I hate the idea that evil is actively happening in the world and people do nothing about it, don't you?
And a friendly reminder.
You are not in anyway required to purchase anything from Marvel, any of the actual bullshit content and harmful ideas they refuse to take any criticism or responsibility for. You are not obligated to them just because you are a fan, and you do not owe them anything. If they want our money, they can earn it, but you can definitely get your fixes of good creative content elsewhere, and even support other artists. If this is what they provide, you do not have to support them. You can make your own. For free. And enjoy what others make for free. For any and all people part of an intricate creative community, fan fiction does not just have to be trashy romance or gay ass ships. That is a huge chunk of it, I won't even bother lying about that, I'm under no illusions otherwise.
But it can also be just simple storylines based off what canons you like, simple fan comics that maybe present a different sort of story arc you aren't seeing developed and wonder where you might go with it. It can be action, scifi, fantasy, horror. It can be any sort of fusion that you would enjoy. It can even be insanely good or horrendously bad! It can even be original fiction! And yes, you're more than allowed to publicly critique and parody the work these companies sell you, go write ahead~, and make a point of making something better. Because you can.
Or it can be shipping wars and nonsensical shit and trashy romance and smut. Again, no illusions that there's not a whole lot of that shit.
Or crack. Lots of crack fic.
But the beauty of it is that it's up to you. And you don't owe anyone anything because everything you get to make is free. But keep in mind that goes both ways in this aspect. For you and others, and I'd wager to say there are a lot of writers out there that can definitely do these characters and their messages a much better justice than the disservice and disrespect Marvel has given them and the fans. Especially as of late.
Lastly, especially in these times... do not lose hope.
Do not lose faith in the message Steve Rogers stands for, or in the hopes things may get better. For all of us. And for the character? That he may just yet be saved from quite plainly, all the bullshit. That any of your favorite characters might be given better treatment down the line. And if not?
Save 'em yourself. Make it better yourself. And make it known, no matter what happens, no matter what they do, these messages can't be squandered or destroyed. Hold them dear, and don't accept anything less than them being upheld, no matter how it's represented.
Particularly when you're paying for it. Don't harass small time writers that write self indulgent bullshit for free. Just police your content accordingly, please.
But the message?
That's what's important.
In conclusion?
'Logan' was the better movie. Hayley turned Peggy into 'Monika' of Doki Doki Literature Club. And Chris Evans chose his dog.
“I don't like bullies... I don't care where they're from.”

A Rebuttal of “Lesson 6: The Structure of Early Gaelic Society”
This is part 6 of my 20-part manifesto on why druids should do some research for once. You can find the master-post here.
This is a long post, so the actual rebuttal is under the cut! Each number in parenthesis (#) corresponds to a footnote formatted in the Chicago manual of style located in the block quote at the end of the post, any reference to the Brehon laws is linked within the text and will not have a footnote!
Hey hey hey welcome back! It’s been a few months, and I’m refreshed and am once again ready to tear into druidic bullshit. Today we’re continuing our look at Robin Herne’s “lessons,” this particular lesson can be found here.
From the very beginning of this “lesson” I’m sensing a problem with Herne’s writing that I’ve seen and spoken on before, which is the concept of a pan-Celtic religion. Herne’s lesson may focus on Ireland, but that’s only because he feels as though it’s “harder” to talk about Wales.... a nation with a very different history and a different religion than Ireland..... but they’re both Celtic so whatever right? For any newbies here, there was no Pan-Celtic religion. I mention this in Part 1 of this series.
From there it only gets worse really. For starters, the Romans never conquered Ireland, the nation whose history is supposed to be the focus of this lesson. Beyond that- the Romans used existing British oppida as the urban centers of the tribal system that was established under their rule, to claim that pre-Roman Britain was made up only of villages when archaeologists can’t accurately determine the populations of the oppida is ridiculous. What the Romans did was establish the first cities that were not located in the South East of England. Herne also has this weird focus on Ireland and Britain being “rural” as though most cultures weren’t largely rural- and honestly the focus on distancing these cultures from anything urban is a HUGE red flag if you know the history of paganism and Celtic Twilight, bad show all around. And of course Herne doesn’t cite any sources so for all I know he’s pulling this out of his ass. All in all it seems like Herne is falling to the classic pitfall of circle jerking to Rome, maybe if he could get off Rome’s dick for a few minutes we might actually learn something.
I question whether Herne has ever actually read the Brehon laws, or if he understands that there were similarities between the laws of many medieval societies, even those that didn’t share a “Celtic” label. I genuinely have no idea what “change” he’s referring to that would be a gradual process considering the continental Celts and the Gaels were different cultures, and the laws in question existed at different times, and also the laws he references for the continental Celts were only “mentioned” by classical authors, who if you haven’t read my other rebuttals are notoriously unreliable narrators.
I question the choice to say “Think of the cenn as rather like the head of a Mafia clan! “ and particularly to end it with an exclamation point. The cenn, is the head of the family, and thus the family’s legal representative in court. This was not a cultural practice unique to Ireland, similar practices are shown to exist throughout Europe during this time. And in no way is a patriarch (or occasionally a matriarch) who protects the family’s interests and revokes legal agreements made without their consent the same thing as a mafia boss. This isn’t a crime syndicate, it’s a judicial system that protects the different families within the tribe and in theory was meant to ensure that contractual decisions were made with the consent of the family.
Beyond this to describe the social structure of early Ireland as a “caste system” is... stretching it- movement from one class to another was not uncommon, and more things factored into one’s status in Irish society than simply the situation of one’s birth. Beyond that, this system is more easily broken down into six groups than into two, and Herne would know that if he’d actually read the Brehon laws. Rather than just splitting society into “the blessed ones” and “ordinary people” the Brehon laws organize it into kings of various grades, professional classes, flaiths (a sort of official nobility), freemen possessing property, freemen who possess no or very little property, and the non-free classes. And joint ownership of property could qualify a selected joint-owner to become a noble, this is very much not the rigid system Herne would want you to believe it is.
Herne’s discussion of the Lia Fail while simplified does hold up. In the lore we see the process described by Herne for choosing the high king of Ireland, it’s described clearly in The Destruction of Dá Derga’s Hostel. And I will admit, I’m with Herne up to a point in his discussion of the concept of lanamnas, there’s clearly a fair amount of research he needs to do into medieval history to truly understand the relationships he’s describing, but he’s not necessary wrong, so I’ll let it slide, these are meant to be introductory lessons after all.
However. Herne makes some... interesting claims in regards to divinity. Herne makes the correct statement that “Each partner in lanamain must recognise that they have a duty to give certain things to the other person, but also a duty to allow that person to give back to them ~ there is no honour in emasculating someone, nor in allowing yourself to be rendered servile.” This is correct, we see this very same principle in the two sided nature of the virtue of hospitality, we’re called to be both good hosts and good guests. But then Herne goes onto say “This applies as much to the Gods as to other humans. Hosting a ritual for a god may be seen as fulfilling the coinmed, but there should also be expectation back of the deity. If your life is barren, then maybe you need a better head to guide you (either that, or you‘re not fulfilling your duties to them).” Ignoring the fact that Herne has all but called the gods parasites if they don't attend rituals we host for them voluntarily (something we should be doing anyway, and without the expectation that they’ll show up)- this argument rests on the assumption that we can understand the divine and how they interact with us enough to judge whether or not we need a "better head" to guide us, which I think anyone who’s actually had an encounter with the divine or felt their presence can tell you is bullshit. They’re divine for a reason, they’ve existed for thousands of years, we’re just a blip on their radar, it is not up to us to judge whether or not we need a “better head to guide us” or if we’re giving enough, the gods decide that.
For everyone who had “baseless claims about the roles of historical druids” on their BINGO cards you may now cross that off. Herne falls into the typical pattern of repeating the “druids were the precursor the Catholic church” story fabricated by 16th century Germans for political clout. Don’t be like Herne, read a goddamn book, I have recommendations, feel free to dm me or shoot me an ask if you’d like them.
And last but not least, I would like to remind everyone that the “every family/tribe has their own tartan that differentiates them” is a largely 19th century creation with scant pre-Victorian basis.
That’s all for today! If you want more reading on any of the topics mentioned in this post feel free to shoot me an ask or a message and I’ll provide you with a reading list!

That beautiful writer ask meme: Imagery, Juxtaposition, Symbolism, Allegory, Repetition
This got long, so I’m putting it under a cut.
Imagery: How much do you worldbuild in your current writing project? How do you make your setting seem real and vivid?
I have to admit: world-building is actually not one of my strong suits as a writer. I think I’m better at crafting characters than I am at crafting the worlds they live in. Which makes fanfic pretty great for me, because I can be lazy and piggy-back off of an already established world. 😉 I don’t have to do much world-building for Undertow, since a lot of that is already done for me, but I do have some original projects that involve more creativity on that front. I think when I do world-building I often focus most on cultural things: local beliefs and ideology, art, politics, etc.
As for the setting, I like to highlight sensory/impressionistic details as the character experiences them. The same setting can be experienced very differently depending on a character’s frame of mind and what sorts of things they tend to pay attention to. Specificity is also really helpful in making the world seem real. I like to try and zero in on a few small/specific details when writing my descriptions.
Juxtaposition: Do you include subplots in your writing? How do you balance them alongside your main plots?
I usually do have subplots. A lot of times what I like to do with my stories is focus on an overarching theme, and then find ways to express those ideas on both a macro and micro level, or as both symbolic and literal. With Undertow, that theme is trauma and recovery, specifically how it relates to personal agency and growth. And so I have multiple interwoven plot threads that all deal with that same theme. So it isn’t so much like... separate plots, as it is one big plot tapestry.
Symbolism: What does writing mean to you? How has it impacted your life?
Oof, man. This is a big one. I think growing up I always really struggled to express myself and to have a voice. And writing became my outlet for that. I wasn’t naturally good at it, but I kept working at it, and over time I improved a lot. I think a lot about narrative, and the role it plays in human culture. Both as individuals and as a society, we define our reality through storytelling: the stories we tell ourselves, and the stories we tell to others. I very much want those stories to be as real and true and organic as possible, even when crafting these totally fantastical, fictional realities. Because every story we tell and every story we consume influences our reality... even if it’s just in these subtle, fractional ways.
So there’s the personal, of course: I want to have a voice, I want to be able to reach out to people and show them what I see and feel. I want to be able to point to something and say: “Look at this. This is important. This matters.”
Then there’s the social: knowing that people are engaging with the things I wrote and making it their own.
Then there’s the bigger narrative: I want to make a ripple in our shared reality, even if only a very small one.
But I struggle to do that. Because... well, because of a lot of things. Mental health, physical health, life circumstances, etc. So writing is both this super important thing that I love and a lifelong struggle to overcome massive personal obstacles.
But I genuinely believe that I would not be alive today without it.
Allegory: What is the theme of your current writing project? Is there a message you’d like readers to consider?
I talked about this a bit under Juxtaposition, so I’ll try not to get too repetitive. I also don’t necessarily want to state all of the messages outright, because as a writer I kind of like to just let the subtext speak for itself. But yes, there are definitely themes and messages that I hope readers will pick up on. Some of it involves a bit of meta-criticism over the whole good vs. evil, black and white worldview of D&D and similar fantasy worlds. Which ties into the overarching trauma theme because... hmm, how do I explain this? We cannot as a society take ownership of our sins if we refuse to claim them. People are not inherently good or bad. It’s our actions that matter.
Also, trauma doesn’t have to mean an end to things like love and happiness. Sometimes those things just come to us in unexpected and complicated ways.
Repetition: Is there anything you find you repeat across your witting projects? Symbols, tropes, descriptions, themes?
Oh gosh, so many things. I use water symbolism a lot. I talk about trauma a lot. Most of my writing is pretty angsty. I also have a penchant for using theories in astrophysics as emotional metaphors. 😏
I love to plant little seeds that end up bearing fruit later on in the story. Like, a character will say something, and then that thing will get repeated later by another character, but with added nuance/weight/irony. I love to connect things. Seemingly disparate characters and stories might all eventually link up in some way.
I tend to use a lot of subtext. The things characters don’t say are often just as important as the things they do. That can also be true of the narrative itself. I convey a lot of things by implication. (I tend to stress a lot over whether any of that is actually clear to readers. Ideally I’d like to be one of those authors who rewards close/repeat reading, but it’s also possible I’m just being way too opaque.)
A lot of my characters have bad relationships with their parents.
A lot of my characters have intense/complicated sexualities.
I use a lot of visceral imagery. I often talk about the body (and the breaking open of it) as a metaphor for emotional intimacy. (Hoo boy is this relevant for my current fic.) Blood isn’t just blood. It’s also feelings.

The ccers are just like the gop
Watching the Impeachment testimony today it’s a nightmare for the gop and Trump. Ambassador Sondland has admitted everything we knew was true using the words “Quid Pro Quo” and admitting that everyone in Trump’s administration knew.  Watching the gop then try to defend Trump is a disaster or outrageous lies, conspiracy theories, and distraction.
Reading this thread from the cc coven, I’m reminded of how similar their tactics are to the gop’s. This thread is full of lies and conspiracy theories that have been duped and yet these people- like Nunes, Jordan, and Stipanik- clearly believe the lies they share. The two groups have built their knowledge bases on these lies. These faulty foundations don’t hold up to even the smallest of scrutiny. People living in reality can see the faults, but sadly ccers and the gop don’t see reality and live in an imaginary world where they are always right.
ajw720 answered:
It is hard to me to select the one thing that i find the most offensive, there are just so many.  They have also named at least 2 drinks based on breast size, Good Rak (I forget the exact name) and R2DD2.  you know reducing women to their body parts.  And of course the one called C3PHO that is implying that women should be called whores if they decide to exercise their sexual freedom.  And we are even touching on the innuendo which maybe isn’t offensive, but is extraordinarily immature.  Or the fact that they have naked women gyrating on the bar and simulating sex with teddy bears in a PIANO BAR where on a different night you can sing d/isney tunes! (Abby refuses to understand that the drink names are NOT to belittle women but to take ownership of the words away from those who use them against us. She has been told this but she needs to be angry at Mia so she refuses to even think about it=faulty foundation)
But hey, according to her stans, I am closed minded and they are progressive. (yep! That’s true). You know what it reminds me of?  The individuals watching the impeachment trials and daring to say that these upstanding, career public servants, many of whom serve both democrats and republicans, are liars because they refuse to admit the bigot in the WH is a criminal. (Nice try but no, you honey, you are those people. Faulty foundations)
D looked really drained to me last night, and we know he is PBB free in NYC. I have to imagine the way the are smearing his name constantly is weighing heavily on his soul. My heart hurts for him.  (In fact, 3 of the 6 people in at least one of the photos has the same neutral face. Other photos, released later that night show a gleefully happy Darren=faulty foundations. Photos at the end.)
ajw720 Can I just add one thing?  The “marriage” was forced by D’s team, and this includes his extremely powerful PR agency.  (NOT TRUE= faulty foundations) Why are they not reading and reviewing everything posted by that offensive institute prior to its release? (Because Darren controls his own life and his business is not part of what Sunshine Sachs does for Darren).  That would be working FOR THEIR CLIENT.  Instead, they are allowing that bar to actively harm his character. (Such a stupid argument.  Why would Darren continue to pay them if they were actively harming him? Abby this one is so stupid you need to stop=faulty foundations)
I hope that there is a time D can sue them for defamation, I really do, because to me, this is an absolute outrage. (Well we are a decade in, when you believe that could happen, Abby? Ya know ....using your legal knowledge?)
This flannel shirt theme stunt has made my blood boil more than most. (This just pisses me off.  My daughter read this post, called herself a dyke and said.“I just wish I could go.” She was wearing a flannel shirt)
notes-from-nowhere My question is: why M has been forced to drop “s/unsetstrippa” (and f/etus but, let’s leave one of the sock account behind for a moment)? (Fetus IS NOT MIA. OMG THIS IS SO STUPID=Faulty Foundations) That was not her decision.(WTF? Of course, it is=faulty foundations)  So, why? I’ll tell you why: given that the plan was to make her relevant for everybody besides for her nanny, it was embarrassing for D (and his team) to have her tagged by colleagues and various celebrities with that childish nickname. Do not even try to tell me this is not the reason (Faulty Foundations).
So why isn’t the same level of “courtesy” reserved for your establishment? Quite frankly “s/unsetstrippa” was far less offensive than what happens constantly in&out of that place. When will we see day D will be treated with the respect that a man in his position should have by default? And above all, when his team will accept that they are no longer managing a teenage dream? Controversy as a way to make someone famous it doesn’t work as a shortcut if there is nothing behind that people might like. (I honestly don’t understand this sentence so I have no good debunk...Darren was never marketed as “teenage dream” and he certainly currently isn’t= Faulty Foundations)
It’s time to remove D from the TS/G narrative once and for all. M dropped this place a long time ago and it has no meaning for D’s career, let alone finantial reasons since he is just the piano man and not the owner. (Well “finantial” reasons aside, Darren and Mia own the bar. They don’t work there.  -=Faulty Foundations).
ajw720
Sadly she dropped that for another made up name that they have used to mock D.  It is unfathomable the way D is being treated.
And honestly, I don’t know why more people aren’t screaming about this bar and how people don’t see or ignore how offensive it is. (Because only someone who refuses to live in reality actually sees the bar as problematic.  It’s a queer-safe space that celebrates the LGBTQ community in ways that MAKE SENSE TO THE LGBTQ Community.  Just because Abby doesn’t understand it doesn’t make it wrong= Faulty Foundations).  D does his best to distance himself, but it is his name front and certain in every article about the place and he is the one on TV naming it repeatedly (I love this nonsense..so is he distancing himself or is he the name that is connected often?)
Where are the people protecting the actual marketable commodity’s interest? The person with talent that is at the top of his game?  I have never seen anything like this. (Its all made up in your head=Faulty Foundations)
notes-from-nowhere You know one of the reason his team keeps ignoring things like this bar is because people bring gifts to M. (OMG...this is just a stupid thing to say) Because even if these people know everything about t his place, how rude the staff is, how undrinkable and overpriced the drinks are, how annoying and out of place “certain activities” inside of it are, they swallow their beliefs and words to go there and have a picture with D to post on their social media (This is all conspiracy theory and absolutely Faulty Foundations.  This is exactly like Nunes repeating all the conspiracy theories tied to Trump this morning. I’ve looked at these and most -if not all- of these are not real.)
As long as there will be people that put their interests ahead of D’s wellbeing and public image, his team will keep to ignore how hurtful behaviors and bar are. They will buy an article on a random magazine that will praise the bar, D will be forced to publicly say the its name and so on. (Faulty Foundations)
D’s team is not protecting an investment, they are making money out of people. And people is allowing them to do so.
leka-1998 Yesterday someone asked me why I keep being angry at the things they do or don’t do, at what’s going on at that bar that screams M. Why I even had to point out that flannel theme. Because I shouldn’t be surprised at all. And I’m really not, but the way they are destroying D’s character really gets me. He’s currently getting more attention due to M/idway and AB, two great projects. Both are/will be seen by a new audience. I’m sure HW will be big too. A competent and well-meaning team would care how D looks, what he’s associated with. They don’t. And no one can tell me that’s not wrong. (The idea that Darren can’t take control of his own life is pretty gross.  Nobody lives this life they imagine- it’s outrageous.  Faulty Foundations)
ajw720 Obviously everything annoys me about the circus that surrounds him. But I can mostly laugh about the Halloween BS or and the excessive praise she receives as none of that ultimately affects D’s character and his reputation.  But this bar, it is so harmful and it potentially could be so damaging.  Imagine a theater goer looking up D after AB and finding their IG full of discriminatory themes/drinks and extremely immature innuendo. And D’s name is what that bar is associate with, not his “bride” as she doesn’t do anything, but D who is the one promoting it the media regularly.  He has not promoted anything in his life more than the bar over the past 2 years.  Not even his fake nuptials. (Yes, Imagine what it looks like that Darren’s bar is a queer safe space.  OMG How horrific!!!!!!! How doe he live with himself? The ONLY People who are upset that TSG has LGBTQ programming most nights but Disney on other nights are those who are homophobic!!!!!!!!!!!)
And I truly do not understand how anyone dismisses this stuff or says we are the ones who are wrong. Some of the marketing ploys are blatantly and clearly offensive.  And yet it continues and no one seems to care that D is the only one that could potentially be hurt by this as it is his career that they are jeopardizing.  And M is praised as a role model for disparaging women and members of the LGBT+ community. (YOU are literally claiming that the gay women who runs Dyke Night doesn’t know anything about-or respect - her own community... but YOU do.  SHUT THE FUCK UP ABBY)
It is revolting (yes you are) and it is really important that we document it and discuss it and continue to highlight it and I don’t care how much hate i get for doing so, people need to realize what they are doing. (The “hate” should be a  HUGE WARNING SIGN Abby. But you see EVERYTHING as proof you are right and it doesn’t matter how hard it is to get to “I’m right”, how much you have to twist the truth or makeup stories about Darren's lack of personal agency, it’s all confirmation bias for you. YOU ARE WRONG and these comments are homophobic).    And maybe it won’t be today, but at some point he will get free from his tormentors who are hell bent on destroying him and we will have the public record of everything they did to actively harm him. Faulty Foundations).
klaineownsmysoul This is precisely the kind of place that a real pr/management team would work overtime to keep their client away from instead of pushing it relentlessly as a point of pride. There’s nothing remotely redeeming about it and like that farce of a wedding, nothing that reflects D’s personality. It’s beyond tacky and juvenile and straight out of the wheelhouse of a 20 year old frat boy. You expect me to believe that the same person who wrote beautiful songs like “Not Alone” or “TDTDIO” also decided to name a drink period sex? (Yes!!!!!! because people are complex animals.  But also because that same person wrote “Me and MY Dick” =Faulty Foundations).  the words of Trevor Noah, get the fuck out of here. But I’d expect nothing less from his team at this point: a group of people who think class and notoriety are equal. I live for the day when he gets a team to actually support him instead of trying to further themselves through him. (His team by law has to support him but also WHY THE FUCK WOULD HE STICK WIT HTHEM If they weren’t helping him?  He’s not a moron=Faulty Foundations) No one goes to events hoping to see D’s manager on the drums. There are actual musicians out there who are more than qualified. (And yet Darren chose Ricky to play drums for him=Faulty Foundations).   Go do your actual job for a change.

I am now six episodes into the Nancy Drew TW show on the CW
Here be spoilers.
OK, so the last episode I saw was the Blackwood Manor one, or whatever. The one with the Eyes Wide Shut party.
So far, the only thing that’s really surprised me about the show is that the ghosts are definitely real. I think I am sort of bummed about it. It could have been a really interesting psychological thriller, but...nope. Ghosts. Ah well, moving on.
I have QUESTIONS.
What the fuck is up with Horseshoe Bay? Like, really, why is it so important? It’s this tiny town in Maine, why are there so many stupid rich people around? Why are there two huge mogul families duking it out for ownership of the town? There’s gotta be some reason that both the Marvins and the Hudson’s want to stake their claim there, but damned if I can figure out what it is.
Why have we dropped the plot point of British Bess? I imagine it will show up again, but the whole crew seems to know about her van living but still Marvin status, so...why is she still faking the American accent? Also--who cares?
We now know that Carson Drew was the Hudson’s fixer for a while. I am curious about what else he fixed. Such as: possibly hiding the fact that Nancy is actually the daughter of Ryan and Lucy? She does look sort of like Lucy Sable, and it would make sense that Lucy was haunting both of them because...well. Her baby daddy and her baby. Ryan didn’t know, and his parents kept the info from him by keeping Lucy away after she got pregnant. I dunno, it would make some amount of sense.
This is my new theory and I like it.
I HATE HATE HATE the stupid ‘love triangle.’ Like...Nancy has done literally nothing to make Owen think she might be available, and has been pretty upfront about the fact that she is using him. Nick and George got all pissed that she didn’t clue them in to the whole Ryan asking her to steal the coins, but it wasn’t like she had a lot of time to tell them anything. And then it isn’t like they told her much about the coins either--they said they were on the shipping manifest, but she wasn’t part of the conversation about the manifest that explained that everything on it should be at the bottom of the ocean.
It’s just a lot of drama that Nick is creating for himself. Owen at least seemed to back off when she told him she was taken, but Nick is just being a fucking baby, and he doesn’t trust her, which makes no sense.
I mean, Nancy’s mystr-o-sexual anyway, but she hasn’t given him any reason to doubt that she’d cheat on him, or that her feelings toward him have changed, or that she might be into Owen. It’s just...I hate this sort of drama. It’s not interesting, and it just makes me want to hit people.
I’ve seen some people being salty that Bess took up valuable stealing time to make out with Lisbeth, but even if she hadn’t, she wouldn’t have had time to steal the coins anyway. It was a bad plan.
And if they’d told Nancy everything from the start, she wouldn’t have had to result to magic to switch out the coins (I mean seriously, how’d she do that?).
Anyway. I’m interested to see how Lucy and Tiffany are related. The Hudson’s are skeevy as FUCK, and I don’t trust the Marvin’s either. I get the feeling that they aren’t the bad guys here, but I think Owen had a bit of an ulterior motive for getting them out of trouble.  They do owe him now.
Anyway TL;DR
I think Nancy is Lucy and Ryan’s daughter, love triangles are stupid, the twin mysteries are holding my attention. I want to know Horseshoe Bay’s deal, and I want to know why everyone in it is a terrible person. Really, is Pennywise hanging out? Did It get bored of Derry or something? Everyone in this town is sketchy as hell.

okay so i can look back and laugh once i finish it here are some more dta thoughts (spoilers up to map of the world ch6)
firstly like i have a cursed attention span AND dyslexia so my reading experience is all over the place! i'm reading this twice at once basically cause i keep reading whole paragraphs and realising i understood nothing. this is not a dta-only experience tho! this happens with every serious book, dta passed the real literature test (whether i get it or not)
me pausing after a paragraph and walking myself all the way to the start like once more with feeling!!! this time we comprehend words, team!! however i AM having a ball in this bitch
firstly i love books where i'm like??? what's going on!!! which is most of this even without the reading comprehension issues.
mysteries that i'm really into and my theories for them :
obviously the huge one, which is why is lucifer sleeping on the apocalypse? my theory is that the Official End Of Times still can't start because the official kick off was the micheal sword's destruction and guess who's running around rn? DEANO.
one of the things that i Did Not Get is how/when DTA!Time Travel Dean got there. if he got there before spn canon dean got sent back then technically the DTA world was never deanless, thus not actually kickstarting anything. also i love the idea that the apocalypse was avoided (for now lol) on a technicality. like, OOPS, destiny forgot to read the fine print. also we still don't know whomst sent time travel dean there in the first place and why, so maybe it was actually to help avoid lucifer's total victory.
also my naive hope when i'm on ch6 of 1mil words and i'm like the apocalypse was avoided right?? right guys??? when lucifer could suplex the whole camp three paragraphs down and i would b none the wiser
also here's i text i sent my best friend abt this exact theory 😌
Tumblr media
next mystery is the wards on cas' cabin and this one was actually solved already! in THEE most satisfying manner!!!
only dta!cas would pull off a huge metaphilosophical rant in which he claims dean ownership (and then says he finds it distasteful like bitch there was six other ways to phrase that you did this to yourself)
and i'm reading along like okay... d'acc... what is the point??? only to realise that frankly there is none, cas thought it would be neat and he's proud of his trick and dean is like actually that's dope!!! the only thing i'm elated about *sigh* huge downside is that we have to be roommates now!!! this totally useless spell to make me invisible in your cabin gives us no choice!!! but to be roommates. *sigh* i guess i have to sleep in here forever now cause being invisible in this cabin is sooooo important.
disclaimer: it's very possible i misunderstood something completely cause right now i really don't get howwww dean being invisible to everyone except cas in his cabin is useful in any way to them at this specific point. especially since at one point cas is like so we're gonna get the reports in here now! andddd vera talks to dean in the cabin as well so she clearly can see him so what?? and even if they truly couldn't it's not like they're keeping it a secret from camp that dean is sleeping in cas' cabin so what use it if he's invisible in there?
is it only in case someone breaches camp security and as a last resort dean can hide in there invisible? bro if an enemy is already in there who cares abt dean they don't need his blood anymore to get in.
but yes in case i haven't missed anything and that's actually genuinely what's going on : props to dta cas for having thee most complicated way of giving someone a key to ur house
also how cute like HUMANS R HUNTER GATHERERS DEAN!!! unevolved little creatures!!!! that's why the concept of home is just whenever i'm with you dean, that's not romantic at all it's PRIMAL SURVIVAL
however the mystery of what happened to cas when he fell that dean had to lock him in the cabin is still intact and i don't have a theory on that rn at all! i just know it'll probably hurt!
more coming when i remember mysteries that i forgot lol

""If healthy foods were more affordable, would health insurance be cheaper?""
It irritates me beyond words that people these days are almost forced to have a poor diet because junk food is more affordable. Then, the health risks associated with eating junk food cause more people in the hospital, more money being shucked at pharmaceutical companies for medicine to treat the diseases cause by poor diets, and health insurance and taxes we all have to pay for regardless of how healthy we try to be. I mean, if a packet of Ramen noodles is 50 cents and an apple is $1.50, the majority of the financially stressed nation is going to reach for the Ramen. I would love to eat mostly raw fruits and veggies all day long, but I simply can't afford that and it makes me feel like the government is forcing me to eat crappy foods in order to survive. Why are healthy foods so expensive? And wouldn't it factor out in the end to reduce the price of healthy foods knowing a lot of money would no longer have to be forked out for doctor's visits?""

I dont understand why thy need this information. We arent asking them to back date and pay us for any time we already paid for (we arranged our allstate policy to begin the day our country insurance ended) and in the years we have been with country insurance, we have ever once filed a claim. Guess our car insurance?
Primary driver: 24, perfect driving record, female, some college completed but no degree The car: Something mediocre from the late 80s to late 90s The insurance: Minnesota, metro area, daily 10-20 mile commute each way, we want all the proper liability and personal injury coverage but don't care about collision Seriously, just guess. We'll take any ideas. We completely know it varies by each of those factors and many more, and we already know the national average. If you know the state average, that's one step up on us. I'd get a quote, but my roommate is the one seriously thinking about cars right now, and I don't want to do anything in someone else's name. She'll be getting quotes soon, but right now I'm a little concerned about the insurance companies possibly running credit checks, as I'm under the impression a slew of them at a time can lower your score, and we don't know what car we're getting yet. So once that's settled, we'll check into it for real. We just want to TRY to budget before we seriously car hunt.""

I am 20 years old. I live in Florida which is by far the WORST states to have auto insurance. I've only been in 2 accidents, both not my fault. One was a small fender bender (which my friend decided to get a PIP claim even though he didnt get hurt so he could snag some money from the government). The other i totaled my car, but that was over 2 YEARS AGO. This is a no fault state which sucks because both of them werent my fault!!!!! Currently my auto insurance is 253 dollars! I'm a college student and i CANNOT afford that, but thats the cheapest one I found. Geico and all the popular ones wont even look at me. And it also adds on the my mom was in an accident (also not at fault) she got hit from behind at a red light and of course they penalized her for that too. Florida is a fraud state, they penalize you for everything when its no fault. Does anyone know how i can lower my auto insurance? World After Capital: Laying a Foundation (Scarcity)
NOTE: I am continuing to publish revised sections from my book World After Capital. Today’s section provides a technological definition of scarcity (instead of an economic one) and provides a brief history of how scarcity has shifted over time from food to land to capital and is now shifting to attention.
Scarcity
In this book I will be arguing that capital is no longer scarce but that attention now is. Furthermore this constitutes the third major shift in scarcity in the history of humanity. The first shift was from food to land when we went from the Forager Age to the Agrarian Age. The second was from land to capital when we went from the Agrarian Age to the Industrial Age.
The words scarce and scarcity have come to take on a meaning that is derived from modern economics. Many people now think of something as scarce if its price is greater than zero. By this definition land is obviously still scarce as it costs a lot of money to buy a piece of land. And financial capital is still scarce because even in our current low interest rate environment, there is a price for borrowing money or raising equity financing (which makes it possible for me to make money from being a venture capital investor).
There is a fundamental problem with this price based definition of scarcity though: anything can be made scarce by assigning property rights. Imagine for a moment that ownership of the world's atmosphere belonged to Global Air Ltd (GAL). Now GAL could charge anyone who breathes air a usage fee. Air would suddenly be scarce. That may seem like an extreme example at first. Yet, some have argued that the solution to the problem of air pollution is to assign ownership rights to the atmosphere, on the theory that this will result in the owners having an economic incentive to maintain an unpolluted atmosphere.
I will use a different meaning of scarcity that is not based on price. Something is scarce when there is less of it than we need to meet our basic needs. If people are starving then food is scarce.
One can think of this as technological scarcity (as opposed to economic scarcity). The point is that technological progress makes things less scarce over time. The 18th century scholar Thomas Malthus was not wrong about global population growth, which he predicted could be exponential (and thus, he argued, would outpace growth in the food supply leading to hunger) [24]. He turned out to be wrong about the potential for technological progress to exponentially increase the amount of food we could produce. We have in fact gotten so good at agriculture that the amount of land needed for food production has started to decline even as the global population is still growing.
But what about wants? If people are not starving but want more food doesn't that mean food is still scarce? Is it possible to make a distinction between needs and wants? Modern economics has thoroughly equated the two, but intuitively we know that this is not the case. You need to drink water, but you want to drink champagne. You need to provide your body with calories, but you want to eat caviar. There is no bright line as the use of “starvation” above might suggest—we know that some food is healthier for the human body than other (although we are a surprisingly long way from understanding nutrition well). Still, the distinction is clear enough for this definition of scarcity to make sense. One may argue about degrees but not about the principle.
Just because something is no longer scarce doesn't mean that it is abundant. Instead there is an intermediate stage which I will call sufficient. For instance, there is sufficient land to meet everyone's needs for housing and food. For something to be abundant there has to be enough for everyone's needs to be met at zero marginal cost. Building housing and growing food still incurs significant marginal cost and hence these are not abundant. I am saying “still” because technological progress could make land and food abundant (imagine how much land we'll have if we can figure out how to live in space and make other planets habitable).
Is anything abundant? Yes, digital information is already abundant. We can make copies of it and distribute it at zero marginal cost. We can meet everyone's information needs at zero marginal cost.
Is anything scarce? Well, I will endeavor to show that human attention is scarce. It turns out to be scarce, in part, because digital information is abundant.
A Brief History of Scarcity
Food was the original scarcity for humans. We started out as hunter gatherers (foragers). And bad hunters at that. Before the development of weapons and tactics we were mostly hunting small animals and scavenging otherwise. There was one relatively simple solution to food scarcity: migrate elsewhere. And that's why humanity spread across the globe at a relatively decent speed. But once the human population grew past a certain density and migration was not an option, then food scarcity was the source of much violence both among and within tribes. It is important to note that tribes that were not in direct competition with others for food and had no systems for food surplus (no storage, so called “immediate return” societies) tended not to be violent [25].
Eventually, as far back as 10,000 BCE, we happened upon a series of technological advances including growing crops, irrigation and domesticating animals, that together gave us agriculture [26]. With agriculture, scarcity shifted from food to land (of course land had been a proxy for food to some degree but now the scarcity was land directly). Agriculture increased the food density of land by at least an order of magnitude [NEED CITATION]. That was enough for a meaningful surplus to be produced, which meant that a social hierarchy could be created. Rulers commanded armies. The more land a ruler controlled the bigger an army the ruler could afford, which brought us several thousand years of empire building among agricultural societies. The transition into the Agricultural Age was extremely violent with most forager societies wiped out altogether.
Then sometime in the 18th century a new set of technological advances began to emerge that together gave us industry, including steam/electrical power, chemistry, and mechanical machines. With these, scarcity shifted from land to capital. Why was land no longer scarce? Because the use of machines in harvesting and the increasing knowledge of fertilizers dramatically increased crop yields. The transition from the Agricultural Age into the Industrial Age wound up being incredibly violent with numerous revolutions and culminating in World War I and II.
At the end of the Agrarian Age, the ruling elites all came from controlling land. They still believed land to be the critical scarcity and saw industry as a means of building and equipping more powerful armies. For them industry did not mean a new age had started, instead it meant tanks and battleships. Even World War II was still about land, as Hitler and the Nazis pursued “Lebensraum” (literally: room to live). Once again the transition from one age to the next was brought about through extreme violence. It was only at the end of World War II that we truly exited the Agrarian Age.
We now live in the Industrial Age. Eventually we added service jobs to manufacturing but that did not shift the dominant scarcity which was capital. The success of the market based economy over the planned economy is the result of more effective capital formation. Competitive markets combined with entrepreneurial activity were better at allocating and accumulating capital.
Capital these days is frequently mistaken for wealth or financial capital, but what really matters is productive capital in the form of machines, inventories of goods, buildings. Financial capital is an intermediary step that allows for the formation of physical capital but it does not add to the production of goods and services directly (machines are not made of dollar bills). Companies only require financial capital because of their working capital needs, which arise when they have to pay for machines, supplies and labor before they receive payment for their product or service.
Much like the ruling elites at the end of the Agrarian Age came from land, the ruling elites today come from capital. They often don't take up political roles themselves, as we have devised ways of influencing policy indirectly, which exposes the owners of capital to less personal risk. A good example of this recently is the role of the Mercer Family in financing and supporting groups, such as Breitbart news, that influenced the outcome of the U.S. Presidential election [27].
The first major claim of this book is that capital is no longer scarce (in the technological sense defined above). We have sufficient productive capital to meet our needs for housing, clothing, transportation, education and healthcare. This is not a claim that productive capital or access to it are adequately distributed around the world. It is also not a claim that we cannot substantially further improve productive capital by making more of it and creating better versions. It is not even a claim that financial capital is currently being allocated properly for the creation of global productive capital (it is not). It is simply the claim that productive capital is sufficient for meeting humanity's basic needs.
At the same time, digital technology has massively expanded the space of the possible. Digital technology gives us a global network connecting all of humanity to each other and to information at zero marginal cost. Powerful general purpose computing is making artificial intelligence a reality for the first time. This combination of zero marginal cost and universality of computation can dramatically accelerate the creation of knowledge in the world.
Human attention, however, is fundamentally limited. We have 24 hours in the day. We need some of that time to eat and sleep. So that puts a hard limit on how much attention we have both individually and collectively (with population growth slowing down as a result of economic progress).
But why does that make attention scarce? How do we not have enough attention to meet our needs? This is the second major claim of the book. Individually, it is so because most of us are not spending nearly enough of our attention on the fundamental question of our purpose in life. Collectively, it is so because we are not spending enough of our attention on species level risks, such as climate change, asteroid strikes, infectious diseases and opportunities such as space travel, quantum computing, genetic engineering. We are also not paying nearly enough attention to democracy, to our communities, and to each other, including our friends and families.
Therefore the goals of this book are to convince readers, first, that scarcity is, in fact, shifting from capital to attention and, second, that we need new regulation and self-regulation in response to this shift.
Ideally, World After Capital contributes to a dialog that helps avoid another terrible transition. To enter the Knowledge Age we need a lot of changes that are not in the direct interest of the owners of capital who largely control policies at the end of the Industrial Age. This is a direct parallel to the end of the Agrarian Age, and we must learn from that transition, if we do not want to repeat its horrors.
Historians will have a lot of bones to pick with the preceding highly abstracted account. The periods didn't unfold as neatly and there were regional differences. Nonetheless, I think the overall pattern of scarcity shifting from food to land, from land to capital, and finally from capital to attention holds.

Ben Shapiro’s fatal flaws on Socialism
Tumblr media
Or maybe I should call this “Ben Shaprio gets brutally smashed by Marxist Endowment”
Anyway I’ve not really watched much of Ben Shapiro in the past, I’ve never really seen him as that interesting, however when I found numerous videos related to him with pretty childish titles I’d expect from an An-cap, well that intrigued me. But alas I found Ben’s talks and arguments to be dismissive at best, he hounds on through his arguments with such ferocious speed and in such a large dominating presence that its very understandable why many would think he was a genius on the topic, I think even Peterson has taken notes. But the thing is he’s not, he’s a hack who appears from what I’ve seen to know an incredibly minuscule amount about Socialism, so much so I wouldn’t be surprised if he only found out about it by just listening to a few Milton Friedman and Tom Wood’s videos.
First Ben supposes that Socialism at its fundamental is about ‘Equal Distribution or wealth’. I don’t know how much theory he’s read into, it is true that Socialism tends to bring up the topics of Equal Distribution quite a lot, but this is largely an American Simplification (I say American because the two phrases are often interlinked by so many of them). The history of Socialist theory was never based on Government Redistribution, but upon things like Ownership, Control, and Democracy. To put it simply, its about the Pizza base instead of the Toppings, how the structure is fundamentally formed determines how it operates in the world. Thus we are interested in bringing the production into the hands of the people, as opposed to simply redistributing the creations there of. If production serves our interests, we will not see people going without food, going without housing. Right now production serves profit, which is not as reducible as “Anything that benefits you” like some Shapiro types like to state, Profit is specifically financial gain extracted from the surplus labour which workers create. This is the reason we oppose it.

To add to this Ben appears to have some of that good ole American historical revisionism in him, as evidenced by how he states (in regards to Wealth Re-Distribution) “Who told you that you get to tell the universe how wealth is distributed” In this statement he implies one of the most pernicious myths about Capitalism that if you think about it for longer than 10 seconds you should come to realise hasn’t got any value at all - The idea that Capitalism is Natural.
Capitalism is NOT our natural state, it is not the way that human beings operate naturally, it is not ‘voluntary exchange’, it is not ‘the most ethical world view, it was like all other systems before it a force of humanity, the inevitable result of history leading up to that point. Throughout 95% of human history we lived in small hunter gatherer situations, not communism by any means but certainly anything but Capitalism. What little economic exchange there was it was largely on a small scale friendship basis (Internal Debting), not done for the exchange value of goods. If there is any situation humanity is most like, and has inherited the most from, its Primitive Society.
Capitalism like any system since then did what it could to enforce its rule (Property laws, Enclosure, Conquest, Police, Exploitation etc) it is not an act of nature that we have the arrangement of society in the way it is right now, its a very human product, and so Ben, talking to his crowd like a bunch of toddlers, gets no Recon points from me. Who am I to say how wealth is distributed? The same person who said Private Capitalist ownership should be the way it gets done, thats who. For all of Ben’s moral grandstanding of the ethics of Capitalism, in doing so he ignores all the parameters that were set up for the existence and expansion of the system, all of the blood that was caused in maintaining its existence, all of the bandages it raps around itself to keep itself sustaining just a little bit longer, so much so that it cannot be reduced to a Petty Commodities Trade. He can talk as much as he wants about how you get paid for your labour under Capitalism, yet never acknowledges the amount of surplus labour extracted from the process that is used to profit the Capitalist’s pockets. A certain Yugoslav has a term for this kind of thinking, its called ‘Pure Ideology.’
But then it got me thinking, Ben’s glaring hypocrisies are far from over, like his statements on morality “Its not moral to steal from someone (Socialism) just because enough people vote on the matter” Its hardly anything more than a redundant view on Socialism, but have you noticed the glaring elephant in the room here? Ben is certainly not a Anarcho-Capitalist, he’s just a plain old vanilla Conservative with a loud voice and Gishy Gallop. So if he’s arguing Socialism is theft, why is he not also arguing that Taxation is theft? After all the government gets to take plenty of money off of you and put it into whatever it wants. Hell you don’t even get a vote on that?
But no, he just argues that taxes should be lower, not gotten rid of, he will accept some taxation just not too much, he thereby falls into the common Conservative double-think. “Taxation is theft, except when I want it to be spent on the things I want it too” Get a grip Ben, either be consistent in saying that both taxes and socialism are buggery or don’t. The fact that this double-think is so prevalent in American society just goes to show how much of a grip Capitalist hegemony has.
What’s amused me very much about Ben’s talking points is just how circle jerky they are, they’ve become so ingrained in people’s minds they just take them on word of mouth, so he’s able to make an utter straw man of what we’re about. “Socialists always go around saying Nordic Countries are great” (They’re not Socialist, thats a BernieBro Liberal myth) “They always say thats not TROOOO Socialism”. Well that is somewhat correct, a lot of folks do argue places like USSR, China, and Cuba aren’t/weren’t Socialist, yet what he fails to realise is that just as many would argue the opposite. I am one of them. I know its very comfortable for many of my fellow leftists to argue “No they were State Capitalist/Transitionary/Fascist” but the thing I’ve had to come to realise is that we don’t get to decide exactly how they’ll turn out, many times we have to look at what we’ve got an analyse from there. Taking these’s countries achievements into account there is definitely no argument that without Socialist revolutions they would have been in a hellhole of a state otherwise. China for example could not have developed itself as the new rival to the west without the massive industrialisation brought upon by Mao, Cuba would probably look like Honduras or Haiti today if it had not defended itself and empowered its people. The results I have found to be incredibly impactful on the lives of these nations (with definite consideration to be made to the areas and economic development they are in), and not to be trivialised as simply ‘Social-Democracy on Steroids’. You can even find that given equal degrees of economic development, Socialism provides a higher standard of living in comparison to Capitalism… over 90% of the time.

Nope, I’m serious, check it out. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1646771/pdf/amjph00269-0055.pdf

That all being said I would just like to put this forward to Shapiro, to showcase again his glowing elephants. What would he say if I told him about our current Economic situation? Imperialism in the middle east? High taxes and regulations? Total destruction of the environment? Well I found out what his answer was last December. “Not Capitalism, Corporatism” AHHHHHHH, look at what we have here. In fact he’s wanks off so hard to Capitalism that he doesn’t even accept ‘Crony Capitalism’, to him Corporatism isn’t even CAPITALISM! If you haven’t realised the whole ‘Not True’ argument is going to be dependent upon your worldview of what something is, you will argue that Capitalism is not ‘True’ today because of X number of reasons, but you will always argue that Socialism is just that, pure and simple, no prefixes. Yet they will be thinking the same about you. Do yourself a favour and either take the entire cake of what you support, not just the icing top, or have the common curtesy of acknowledging your opponents will be doing the same as you. Well except for me.
So in conclusion then, all I’ve found from these brazened titled videos the likes of “BEN SHAPIRO SODOMIZES HIS MOTHER” is little more than
- Viewing Capitalism from an Idealistic and Non-Existent POV. - Making simplistic/false claims regarding the nature of Socialism. - An overloading of rapid fire accusations used to pacify the opposition - Making total hypocrisies on his positions
Oh sure he’s charismatic, sure he’s loud and proud, but he’s also obtuse, an opportunist, and using his own language… a false prophet.

What's your favorite snack? Corndogs have got to be in my top 5 of favorite food. What's your favorite ethnic food? CURRYYYYYY. I would take any type of curry over anything, any day. What country would you like to visit most? Right now I’m really aiming at Thailand. What color hair does your mom have? Black. We all have black hair.
When did you last go to a theater to see a movie? Three weeks ago - we watched The Shape of Water!
What is the last movie you watched? I haven’t seen anything else after The Shape of Water, but I did have to watch a documentary on Daniel Ellsberg for my media law class. I saw it yesterday. What's the last thing you cooked? Me? Cooking? Whose birthday is closest to today's date? (someone you know) My dog is celebrating his next week, but the thing is I never actually knew when he was born so I invented a birthdate for him when I was 10 haha. But whatever, March 16 stays. What's your favorite number? I don’t have certain numbers that I stick with. Have you ever been in love? Sure. Do you believe in ghosts? I’m not an avid believer but I embrace conspiracy theories, ghost stories, reported ghost pictures, haunted areas, and the supernatural in general. Have you ever been to a haunted house? No...I would be too scared to go in, should I ever come face-to-face with one. Is your house haunted? No, not a trace. We moved here just ten short years ago. What's your favorite chocolate bar? Twix for days. What kind of tissues do you prefer? Uh. Plain ones? Ones that clean up nicely, I guess? What color hair did you have when you were in 9th grade? Black. I have never dyed my hair, and especially not when I used to be in Catholic school. Do you have a cat? My sister does. I don’t claim ownership of it. Do you know anyone in another country? Yeah. I was active in a fanbase several years ago and I made friends with so many people from both the US and various places in Europe. It was so much fun but my interests and theirs shifted after a bit and we kind of just grew distant. I only keep in touch with one now - she’s from Pennsylvania, if I’m not mistaken. How old are you? I’m 19 but I turn another year older in a month! How many US states have you been to? Approximately zero. How many Australian states have you been to? About zero. Have you ever been to the Great Lakes Mall? I’ve never heard of that. What face wash do you use? I don’t use products all that often but I do have a spare Tony Moly foam cleanser that I use from time to time whenever I want to feel fresh haha, that is if cleanser and wash are the same thing. Do you have long or short hair? Long. After my mom had complete control of my hair up until I was 10 and made sure my hair never made it past my ears, I vowed never to get short hair again. What's your favorite book? The Septimus Heap series by Angie Sage gives me a boost of nostalgia whenever I think of it–and it was the only series I read religiously as a kid–but it’s a bit much to call it my favorite. I don’t have a favorite book. Do you drink more water or pop? Water. I don’t drink soda at all. What's your favorite flavor of Kool-Aid? We don’t have Kool-Aid here so I’ve never tasted it. Do you watch Survivor Man? No. Have you ever wanted to be on a game show? Yep LOL Family Feud seems like a lot of fun. Do you know who Ben Bailey is? I’m afraid not. What's your Myspace URL? Do you eat organic food? Sometimes, but I don’t keep track of it. Are you an insomniac? No...I think...possibly? I have the symptoms but I don’t want to go right ahead and self-diagnose. Do you watch wrestling? I do actually. I was a bigger fan in my childhood and teens, and I usually only come around for the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania seasons now. Do you wear glasses? Yeah. I am helpless without my glasses - my right eye barely functions as one these days. How many candles were on your last birthday cake? 19, but I never actually got a cake. What kind of music do you listen to? My music is all over the place. Just yesterday I started studying with piano music, then I got tired and switched to horror and ska punk. Then a little after I was listening to One Direction hahaha. Do you wear matching socks? Most of the time. How many pairs of jeans do you have? Enough to have one a week, but I always just use the same three pairs. Where will you go tomorrow? My family drags us to church every Sunday, so that’s for sure. Not sure if we’ll go anywhere after that - but I hope not, since I have a midterm to study for bleeegggh. Do you make fun of people you don't know? No? Do you reject Satan? I don’t believe in them. Are you violent? When my borderline-like mental illness strikes then yes, I can be. Do you like ginger ale? Noooooooo hate it. Do you eat fast food a lot? Not really. Probably once or twice every two weeks. Have you ever gotten in a fist-fight? No, that sounds super scary. Did you play pokemans as a kid? POKEMANS Do you believe taking a picture of someone is taking a piece of their soul? Kinda like Insidious hahahaha also no. Would you rather be hot or cold? Cold. Do you use Wikipedia? Sure, when I want to know about something. I never use it for research, though. Do you spend a lot of time on YouTube? OMG yes. Guilty as charged. Do you use google search or yahoo? Google. I haven’t used Yahoo! in about a decade, my dudes. Have you ever been locked up? Nope. Was your step mother terrible? My biological mother is, most of the time. Can you eat in the dark? I mean technically I can but I never do it. Do you know anyone who doesn't care about anything but themselves? MY BROADCAST PROF!!!!!!!! IS SO SELF-ABSORBED!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you mean to people you don't know? Nooooo that’s horrible. Are you trustworthy? You’re going to have to ask my friends this. Have you ever been hospitalized? Yes, once.

Brooks: Ficlet 2 Part 2
Sorry I was so busy I didn't get to post this a while ago! Thanks @fleur-quinn for the rp :) it was fun ❤️ Sorry for typos! (2200)
I sighed and ran a hand through my hair. I'd been doing some research for the past few hours and the frustration was starting to get to me. I was fed up with being unsure about my theory and terrified if it proved correct. It was an impossible situation.
I leaned back in my swivel chair and spun around. “What to do, what to do,” I muttered to myself. I could try and read something, I thought. Damn, Bertram would probably chastise me for being ‘antisocial’. I guess I could hang out with Max or Mal for a bit. Sounded well enough. And even if I couldn't find them, I could just walk for a bit.
I stepped out of my room and into the hall and down the stairs. Mal would probably be in the makeup parlor next to the dance studio. I headed towards that direction, nodding towards guards and avoiding eye contact with maids.
I looked up briefly and saw a flash of red hair. Oh, Fleur, I immediately guessed. She wasn't hard to miss. She was walking aimlessly with her headphones on, seemingly unaware of anything around her.
I tried to get her attention to no avail. Finally, I waved a hand in front of her. She looked up in alarm, quickly pulled out her earphones and to ran her fingers through her hair. I assumed she was trying fix it up a bit. It was a bit messy, but not in a bad way. It suited her. “Oh hey Brooks! Sorry, didn’t see you there!”
I shrugged and smiled. “I get that a lot. What are you doing?”
“Oh, uh, I was just dancing in the studio, and thought I’d get something to eat and drink before heading back!” She held up glass of water. “Took your advice and got a glass of water, not a bottle.”
It was actually quite nice to hear that she remembered something so minuscule that I had said. “I'm so pleased. The life of a true lady,” I laughed at my own joke. I'm actually hilarious. “You dance?”
“Of course, the flower queen gotta act lady-like, yeah?” Yes, because ladies say ‘gotta’. “And Yeah, I dance! I love it!”
“Are you any good?” Of course she was, but I figured I'd inquire more on the topic. Fleur seemed to be quite talented. It was almost insane. She was exceptional in the arts and academics. She was a bit intimidating.
“Well... I don’t know,” she bit her lip, nervously. “Do you... do you wanna watch? I mean you can be the judge.”
I felt my ears tinge pink. If she felt nervous, I felt like I should too, as if there was something I wasn't understanding. “You wouldn't mind?”
“Nah, not at all... Piglet.” The redhead giggled reached up to tap my ear.
I felt my face heat up even more with embarrassment. “Just show me the dance.”
She laughed. “C’mon then.” Fleur grabbed my shirt sleeve and pulled me along towards the studio. “Well, uh, have a seat!” She set down her glass of water. “This is a very nice studio you guys have here, by the way.”
I nodded, assuming she was right. This may come as a shock, but I'm not exactly artistically inclined in my opinion. “I'm pretty sure I've been in here, like, twice.”
“What a coincidence! This is also my second time here!” I grinned at her response. I enjoyed her easy going humor.
“So, do you have some sort of routine or are you just going to wing it,” I asked as she picked her music.
“Uh, I can do both actually.” Damn. “But today I’ll do a choreographed dance.”
“Let's see it.” I walked over to the corner of the studio and sat criss-cross-applesauce, my long legs proving it more difficult than necessary.
Fleur nodded as she found the song and started to dance. I actually didn't watch a lot of dance. It was hard to take interest in something you were so unforgivably atrocious at. But, she… She was wickedly talented. I wondered if it was something natural or she genuinely had to work hard at.
There were things extremely noticeable about Fleur that I usually prided myself on never recognizing on anyone else. She was beautiful, there was no getting around that, but she seemed to hold herself in a different way every time you saw her. She was either strutting around with the confidence of a lioness or dragging her feet as if she was lost in some perilous thoughts her mind had conjured up in an act of betrayal.
With one final movement, she finished the routine and looked at me expectedly.
“Wow... T-that was... That looked like something I'd be very bad at doing,” I joked. I'd probably break something.
She blushed and giggled. I could her the nerves in her wavering voice. “It’s not that hard, really... You know ballroom dancing, don’t you?” You're joking, right?
I nodded. “Sure.” Lie, such a lie.
“Yeah! Then it won’t be hard to pick up this sort of dancing!”
I have her a flat look. That definitely wasn't ballroom dancing. “I have a feeling I can't drop to the floor like that.” Which she did.
Fleur laughed. “Well maybe that will take some practice. But the others are easier- you should pick up a few moves,” she said, eyes bright with amusement. “Then you’ll be a homeless dancer! And maybe they’ll finally let you sleep in the palace because of your awesome,” she did a random dance move that consisted of mostly flailing arms, “dance moves!”
“I hope to dance exactly the way you just did. Just that one move. Nothing else”
She repeated the move once again in slow motion. I did my best to mimic her without even moving my arms, trying to make her smile. “Nailed it.”
She blinked her eyes in surprise. “But your hands-” She cut herself off by covering her face and laughing loudly.
I joined in. “What?” I reached out and pulled her hands away from her face. “I thought I did really well that time.”
She peeked at me through her tear-stained lashes, trying not to laugh. “It’s just that when I meant relaxing your arms, I meant,” she paused suddenly, “Are you ticklish?”
Well this took a terrible turn. My smile dropped as I stepped back. “No.”
She grinned mischievously. “Something tells me you’re lying!” The redhead stepped forward to tickle me. Why was she so fast?!
I let out a weird giggle scream and jumped back quickly. Fleur did a war cry and ran after me.
Alright, Brooks, time to actually use your one shred of athletic ability. I ran out of room quickly, my height propelling me forward at a decent speed. My dad actually used to make me do a lot of track growing up, claiming that if I stayed inside to read all day, I'd regret it. He decided it was best for me to get some physical activity. I wasn't half bad, but I hated running and I was exceptionally clumsy. Winning a race just loses its effect when you trip right after crossing the finish line.
“Hey! No fair,” she exclaimed and sped up. The distraction caused me to trip and fall straight forward onto the marble floor. I groaned.
Fleur gasped and walked towards me, quickly. She looked at me with concern. “Brooks! Are you alright?”
I sat up and leaned back on my arms, no amusement on my face. “This is why tickling should be outlawed.” And why the idea that tickling was cute to be abolished. I had strong feelings about this.
She sat down next to him with a small smile. “I’m, uh, sorry… I’m glad you’re okay.”
“I could have died, Miss Quinn. All because your positively vicious antics.”
She hung her head. I hoped she didn't actually think I was upset. “I’m sorry... to be fair, you could’ve just let me tickle you.” Uh huh. ”Anyways, I’ll let you tickle me as a revenge?”
I almost slapped myself at how I immediately processed her words as some innuendo. I'd been around Max too much recently. “I'm far too much of a gentleman for that,” I smiled politely.
“Says the boy who ran like a madman just now,” she chuckled. “Your weird giggle scream…”
“'Says the man.' I'm a man.” Real convincing, kiddo.
“Whatever you say, my Prince,” she replied in da singsong voice.
“Your prince, huh? Wrong one, Fleur,” I teased. I knew what she meant but it almost gave me pride to see her flustered. She seemed untouchable at times.
Her eyes widened as she blushed and stuttered. “I- isn’t that what people-,” she suddenly realized I was teasing. “Maybe not the wrong one,” she said quietly.
I cocked my head to the side slightly at her words. Suddenly, I felt like I wasn't supposed to be there. But it wasn't as if there was anything wrong going on. “I am no one's and neither are you,” I stood up and offered her a hand. “People don't belong to each other,” I smiled in a way which can only be described as my signature expression. It may have seemed random, but this was something I actually had a strong view on. It's what bothered me about the selection at times- that there was an assumption of ownership over human beings.
She took my hand and sighed. “Right,” she replied lamely. “But isn’t that what people call the royals, ‘My Queen, My king, My prince, My lady’...”
I could tell she felt uncomfortable. “A technicality that I would abolish if I were king,” I flashed a posh smirk.
“Well, you can still always suggest that to your brother!”
“Mmhm, it's on the list.”
“Oh and by the way, I got an A for that assignment last time!” Fleur did a quick happy dance.
“Congratulations,” I grinned wholeheartedly. “What was it on?”
“Uh…, she thought about it, “uh... oh! Rule of Law!
“You hesitated. By Illea, Fleur... A-are you lying,” I gasped dramatically.
She rolled her eyes. “I was not! I simply forgot the topic! Once I finished an assignment, I would not think about it again. Don’t wanna live through the nightmare again.”
I shook my head. “Naw, I don't buy it. Spit it out, what was the paper really on?”
“The rule of law!” She stomped feet in frustration. “Comparison between the rule of law in Illéa and America. I can prove it to you! Humph!” Fleur crossed her arms in defiance. I raised an eyebrow at her actions.
“It was probably about statistics on cows. Remember, Miss Quinn, a future queen mustn't lie.”
“I was NOT lying,” she groaned. Fleur whipped out her phone and found the document. “See? and I don’t do statistics on cows!”
“Well you should. I would read it ALL.”
“Why would I write about statistics on cows,” she threw her hands in the air. “Maybe /you/,” she jabbed her finger into my chest, “should do it. And I won’t read it!” Damn, she's really into this.
“No point then.”
“Did Brooks Schreave just say that he will only do a research if Fleur Quinn reads it? Ha!” Her eyes danced with amusement.
“Poor girl, you confuse my meaning.” I smiled smugly. “What I'm saying is that I have no want to write about cow statistics, but I would do it to spite you. But if you weren't going to read it anyway, there's no point.”
“First, I’m not ‘poor’.” Darling, I'm well aware. I've done the research. “Second, stop smiling like that,” she looked at me with disgust. Ouch. “Third, you’re /still/ saying you’ll only do a research if I’m reading it! I never specified what research!” She winked dramatically. “But don’t worry, I’ll keep your secret. I won’t tell anybody about it,” she finished with a solemn nod.
I wiped imaginary sweat off my forehead. “Wow, that's a real weight off my shoulders. How could I ever repay you?”
“You can’t! But you can walk me back to the studio because I’m really thirsty after all the exercise.”
“Seems simple enough,” I shrugged, “and I am, at heart, a simple man.”
We began to walk. “Yup, I could totally see that with all the, what’s that?” She gestured to my attire. “Sweater and tie! A very casual and simple attire indeed.” I almost clutched my stomach self consciously. What's wrong with my clothes?
“I'm a very suave hobo, as you can see.” She laughed.
We arrived to the studio and she grabbed her water. “Water has never tasted better! “Thanks for walking me back,” she beamed. “Oh no! Dinner’s an hour away! I have to get changed!”
“And I have to…” I thought of something, “wait an hour for dinner.” Smooth. “See you then,” I smiled and waved.
She returned the action. “See ya! Don’t starve!”
I held in a laugh. “I'll try not to,” I called back.
Huh, that wasn't too bad of a distraction. Fleur had a kind heart that was both endearing and refreshing. I rubbed the side of my face that had been so severely hit earlier that day. Very refreshing.

Max Stirner
Inspired by Hegel, Stirner lived a quiet life in multiple, low-paid jobs, but with a series of books that would form his legacy. One was ‘The Ego and his Own’, which did not gain any significance in his life, but this changed after his death.
The melodramatic and brilliant writing influenced Nietzsche, Marx, and the growing anarchist movement. He came up with the theory of Stirnerian egoism, which is indeed quite different to the general ideas around egoism and self-interest.
Stirner accepted psychological egoism to an extent, in that self-interest played a part in ethical decisions, however, he also asserted that this cannot be actively done unless one knows what the ‘self’ is, for otherwise it cannot be identified as self interest due to ambiguity. Looking at the word 'self-interest’ one could deduct that it is meant to be actively sought, and benefits us.
So, someone who does something, feeling like they are a ‘slave’ to whatever causes that--whether it is instinct or the like--which is not the self itself. Thus, actions done due to the sense of having no other option is not true self interest. As such Indeed, language and rationality are both human inventions, yet have circled round to haunt their maker--humanity--so we lose the original sense of these creations.
EINZIGE - EGO
He also believed that we are not truly free: religious and philosophical systems of moral behaviour control our moral choices. These are the things, as previously mentioned, things we are ‘slaves’ to. These are the ‘essences’ or the ‘ghosts’ in our decisions.
Actual egoism is realising personhood outside of religious and philosophical systems, to find out what our ‘ownness’ is, and gain mastery over this part of us. The true self must be free from external ideologies and internal senses and instincts, to end up with a truly ‘unique’ self.
“Totally different from this free thinking is own thinking, my thinking, a thinking which does not guide me, but is guided, continued, or broken off, by me at my pleasure.”
Stirner thinks we should acknowledge this enslavement, about how the idea controls us, and is it so deeply integrated in to us, as shown by our fears in nakedness, naturalness, and believe ourselves to be evil (from a Christian perspective clearly).
However, though these control our actions, we cannot believe them to be moral, or moral actions. That comes from pursuing ourselves, finding what our ego and selves actually desires, wills and sees as right. Institutions and moral codes from external sources cannot be right within themselves.
“There is no sinner and no sinful egoism!”
These ideologies cannot be right in themselves as they cannot lead to self development and moral improvement: they simply became rules with no freedom for thoughts on what is actually moral. Normative ethical frameworks enslave the self and ego.
Philosophers are not excluded from this, though they are often regarded as free-thinking, as they say they reject God, yet seem to accept the laws his influence has left in the world, such as rejection of incest and adultery, which indicates they still follow the moral framework of the religion: it is integrated in to us.
“I decide whether it is the right thing in me; there is no right outside of this.”
Stirner illustrates his point with the analogy of giving money to the homeless. Psychological egoism would suggest this is entirely for self-interest, and while Stirner accepts this is a part, he also states that we have a duty to do so which we follow, which is not, in itself, self-interest.
This proves we are not free: we are troubled by guilt, consciences. However, there is reason why these can be seen as wrong--there are charities whose entire purpose is to help the homeless, thus we need not give to the poor. This shows that psychological egoism is not correct, as we are bound, enslaved by rules like helping those in need unless it is literally impossible to do so. The end action, giving money to the homeless, is reluctant.
Our idea of good and bad are thus defined by institutions, rather than ourselves and a desire for bettering oneself by actually analysing what our self needs, and surely analysing and doing what the self needs would be the only way of improving the self!
Stirner is not amoral (rejection of morality as a whole) though rejects values and fixed moral laws. Morality is to suggest truth in obligations to behave in certain ways: to believe that the self benefits from one of the institutional laws or obligations. Thus morality can be compatible with true egoism. It is not values though, Stirner’s morality, is more based on the non-rejection of moral claims. Stirner therefore doesn't think one should seek total rejection of our enslavement, but we should seek our true self and live by that, while still enslaved: do both, perhaps.
“Do not seek for freedom...seek for yourself...just recognise what you really are, and let go of your hypocritical endeavours, your foolish mania to be something else than you are.”
EIGENHEIT - OWNNESS
There are differences between the perceived self and ownness: the idea of mastering oneself. Anyone who thinks they are free must check: they are free from all obligations to any conscious or subconscious ideal or ideology, religious or philosophical.
One can only be their own when they are the master of themselves, rather than any external existences, from God to man, Church to law. This way, you can pursue, selfishly, anything that is of use to you. Do as you will and please.
“He is an unfree man in the garment of freedom.”
Freedom. What is good and bad does not matter. As the owner of oneself, one is slave to no obligations. Therefore, as the master of oneself, you can do what you want. This would be to fulfil oneself, to do otherwise is still subject to moral laws. To be one's own person is true freedom. To note, ownness is not an idea, as morality and freedom are, it is a descriptor. A person either has ownness over themselves or doesn't. To have ownness then leads to ideas like freedom.
“Away, then, with every concern that is not altogether my concern! You think at least the ‘good cause’ must be my concern? What’s good, what’s bad? Why, I myself am my own concern, and I am neither good nor bad. Neither has meaning for me.”
EINZIG - UNIQUENESS
To be unique is to possess the freedom from all impositions to pure individuality. To be aware of your ownness, and your will is different to applying. Applying and appreciating ownness is to become unique. One who is unique is the true self, or the true egoist. To be individual from all the conceptual theories is to be unique, separate, untied. You are the only one who owns themselves: you are unique.
“Egoism does not think of sacrificing anything...it simply decides, what I want I must have.”
However, if everyone was unique, it does not oblige everyone being equal. Equality is another ideology that enslaves us. When one is unique, they are the only one. They are not an ego among other egos, the world is simply one's own ego. Everything therefore, about that world is unique, untouchable by external factors.
An egoist must see themselves as unique, therefore meaning they cannot be equated to anyone: total differences cannot be compared, such as when multiple factors are changed, one cannot conclude a result, same here. One who is totally unique cannot be equated with anything or anyone--they are incomparable.
Sensual appetites are also to be rejected by the self, or else the self has an obligation. Individuals need to form emotional detachments towards their own appetites and ideas, so greed for materialistic gain is also an obligation, and detachment from society is also not an obligation, for else that would be a source of enslavement.
To be free to act to self interest is to act in the best way to behave for oneself, because it is what one wills free from any internal and external bindings. Uniqueness means that actions would vary between different people, serving their own nature.
APPLIED THEORIES
Our relationships and behaviour all depend upon our own unique nature. There is neither obligation to be equal, nor obligation to be cruel materially-minded. Stirner himself advocated for co-operation between egos. Ownership seemed to be against any outside agent, yet, in the need of practicality, required a special, unprincipled community only united in recognition of the uniqueness of egoists.
This union of egoists should form a society where cooperation prevailed in recognition of such a uniqueness, thus allowing a true identity could be sought and asserted. This is the weakness, in that it is obviously an obligation and ideal in itself. However, it was simply for the sake of practicality. It is a true, honest cooperation of individuals which respects the uniqueness of them all, is impermanent in all its connections, and supports all in their unique search of individual goals. No final ends.
Application of this theory leads to links of anarchy.  No system should be there, for it interferes and conflicts with an individual’s uniqueness. However, one not being under any obligation whatsoever to a state does not directly clash with the existence of such a state. Individuals choose whether or not to follow laws of the state. Stirner does not see a need to actively oppose the state therefore, but still thought that the spread of egoism would lead to the natural collapse of the state anyway.
“Now am I, who am competent for much, perchance to have no advantage over the less competent? We are all in the midst of an abundance; now shall I not help myself?”
Obviously, there is the criticism of clashing interests and bigotry.  He himself has asserted such, or at least has indicated intolerance. Indeed, how can one find their true self and fulfil its needs if their needs are clashing, or, through no fault of their own, they are subject to injustice, bigotry and lack of opportunities to seek their true self?
However, this concern, to Stirner, is simply due to our own selves being slaves to institutions favouring compassion. It is not actually bad for people to fail to find themselves and suffer due to it, and if it asserted otherwise by one’s true self, then that true self must seek it. If one fails, then they too are subject to such logic. If one fails to seek their true self, that is on themselves, as it is their actions. Simple as.

R is drunk and raving (not in the party way).
(R:) Additionally, I’m procrastinating like a fucking champion at working on fic construction, so you know the best use of my time is going off about random social media crap on the internet.
tl;dr: Putting all commentary in tags on Tumblr makes R cry and shit thousands of words into the Internet.
Every social media site inevitably develops sets of unwritten social conventions. Some of them actually make sense as being derived from meatspace etiquette and therefore you don’t really have to stress about remembering them as long as you play nice like a decent creature.
And some of them just don’t make any fucking sense that I can see. Folks on Twitter using a deliberately space-limited form of media to write a page’s worth or more in a string of 30+ rapidfire tweets? This is just how it’s done over there? (Tweetlonger exists but for some reason these massive chain-tweeters never seem to use it. Same with posting the whole thing in a long-form site like LJ/DW/Tumblr and just linking it to a tweet.)
And Tumblr has things that I literally had to put effort into learning after I migrated here, and after I learned about them I frankly decided to ignore them because I couldn’t see the point in them. Tumblr has this bizarre allergy to commentary and, likely derived from that, the practice of instead commenting by putting it all in awkward tags that render the tagging system not especially useful and are harder to get to if you’re actually interested in an individual’s thoughts about a thing and not just the twelfth instance of the same post crossing your dash in a day or two. It’s not like you can’t engage with people, because asks and messaging and such exist, but like...there’s this strong sense that it’s Terribly Ill-Mannered to weigh in with your own impressions right there, in the body of the post, typing your own words in that seductive, wide-open text box that appears all on its own when you go to reblog something. The properly-socialized Tumblrite eschews that tempting text field and instead posts weird sentence fragments in tag form (interspersed with actual tags that might serve to usefully categorize the post’s content), to the extent that some people can add on a good couple paragraphs of material down among the hashtags where others need to go looking for it on purpose if they want it. (I, at least, haven’t been able to find a plugin or something that automatically expands full tags on all posts so that I don’t have to fuck around with extra interface elements to get to them. I admit that I haven’t looked super hard, though.)
Preserving the original form of the OP’s post is a noble practice that I heartily support, but how is adding commentary a problem if you’re only adding a separate thing, not taking away or altering anything in the original...? This was already a practice/convention/code of social interaction on Tumblr when I got here, so I was never in the front row to witness this element taking shape. I suppose it must have made good sense at the time, but every time I see ten people reblogging the same post with no additions and a paragraph of tags appended to it, it’s like a splinter in my brain that has been digging into me for years now.
And I’m not hating on people who do that! I get that that’s The Way It’s Done Here and I am the deviant weirdo for continually adding comments directly onto things that I reblog. Tags are where individuality lives here, unless you’re producing your own original posts, which I guess other people are then supposed to reblog without commentary so that you have to go hunting after all the reblogs individually if you want to get an actual sense of what these people were all thinking when they reblogged your thing. It all just seems...so...WORK INTENSIVE, refusing to use site functions as they were intended??
Look, I absolutely know that my commentary is not the work of incisive genius that unfailingly adds value to every post I find worthy of my attention. We’re pretty much solid shitposting on this blog. Because I’m a little loaded at the moment and that gives me a handy excuse to run my fingers like an idiot (plus I put that readmore up there, so if your eyes are actually consuming these words, you have only yourself to blame for being here), let me run down relevant history of how we got here.
LJ was home for a good long while. Then shit got seriously messed up and Dreamwidth was created as a better LJ, so we migrated all our stuff over there. And journaling sites along those lines still feel like a native environment. I, in particular, am the most long-winded piece of shit we know and I am honestly incapable of talking about anything of worth in short form. It’s a sickness and I just sort of have to own it. :/ But that’s why journaling sites are a good place for me to live, because that’s where people go when they have the inclination to read meandering scrawls about the depths of other people’s lives or whatever.
We went to Twitter for a good while because all the cool people we knew from LJ were going there for some unfathomable reason. These people wrote things that were complex and fascinating to read, so all of them jumping ship to a place that limited them to 140-character chunks made no damn sense, but we loved those people and wanted to trust that they knew what the hell they were doing. And they probably did, and a couple of us were actually okay with Twitter, but I, being the long-winded shitpiece, spent a lot of time frustrated and kind of overstimulated.
Then things started going to hell more and more consistently for me personally (and us generally by extension, but that’s unnecessary detail). Bunkering down specifically to protect people that you care about from the fallout of your crazy is a fairly common thing for mentally-ill people to do, I think. So I’d shut up online until I felt stable enough to talk to people again. Those periods lasted a few days, then a week or more, then a month, then eventually I stopped talking entirely. I missed the LJ/DW format, but in the past I’d written about life events and things I was thinking about and such, so...at the time, all I really had to write about was the bad stuff. So LJ/DW was basically unusable as well.
I literally came here to be as shallow as I could possibly manage. Tumblr had a rapid, chaotic flow similar to Twitter, but could hold longer content like LJ/DW. We’ve never really used the site’s full functionality at any point, though. For at least a year, all we were following was the most lightweight, zero-calorie entertainment that we could find. (We actually came here for Flight Rising content, so there was a lot of that.) Being engaged with fandom in any consistent respect is an extremely recent thing.
And I’m not saying that fandom hasn’t got depth and complexity because it absolutely does and that’s one of the beautiful things about shared fan experiences. I kind of got into that sort of fandom by accident after getting here and rediscovering Transformers. But the unvoiced policy that I’ve always had here is to avoid the Too Real and dodge serious topics whenever possible. Thus, no gender theory, no neurodivergence or multiplicity, no nonhumanity, no religion or UPG, nothing with real substance behind it that bared real vulnerabilities. (Apparently this was a good move anyway because the nonhuman and multiplicity situation here on Tumblr is a bit of a clusterfuck? I honestly wouldn’t know, as I haven’t made a lot of effort to link up with those folks.) That’s still the policy. That might remain the policy forever until I reach some vaguely-defined threshold of sanity that makes me worthy of talking about those things in places and formats that other people can interact with.
And I’m sorry for all this talk about mental illness, but it’s simpler just to explain things clearly. I likely won’t go into any more detail about it on Tumblr. Or anywhere else, because I care about people even if I’ve never met them or talked to them at all and I still want to keep it all in the bunker to protect good people from the crazy. Sometimes, all you can do is just prevent the damage from spilling out into other people’s lives, and that’s the place that I usually operate from.
I’m still pretty drunk, so I’m allowed to ramble from too much truth serum, but all of that explanation was to get around to saying that the format of online communication that is most intuitive to me is the long, oversharing gut-spill of random people talking about things that are really meaningful to them - not in the sense of elaborate philosophy or artsy epistles to the cosmos, but just people being super real about things that are meaningful to them and going into lots of detail about them because gushing about things you love is great. And it’s possible to get that sort of discussion and gushing in Tumblr fandom, and I love it because it reminds me of better times, and the fact that I love it is WHY IT MAKES ME SO GODDAMN FRUSTRATED that Tumblr culture is basically stifling discussion and feedback and RESPONSE to things that people find interesting!!
Like, here’s how I see it. Unlike on LJ/DW, where you were limited to hyperlinking to a cool post in one of your own posts if you wanted your readers to go check it out, on Tumblr, if you find a super cool thing, you can pull it directly into your space and let other people experience it directly, exactly as you experienced it. But the thing is, I also subscribe to the My Blog My House concept. If I pull a thing into my “home,” I do it because there’s something homelike about it; it belongs in my home for some specific reason. I don’t take “ownership” of an item in the sense that I’m claiming it in place of its creator, but I’m taking ownership of it in the sense that it’s part of my Stuff now and it’ll get my fingerprints all over it and be blended into the general morass of Stuff that I recognize as my home. I don’t just pull random crap into my home for no reason at all.
And I just figure that other people are similar in the sense that they reblog things for distinct, unique reasons, not in the sense that they have some master plan for their blog content (some do, but it’s not necessary), but just that they have compelling reasons why they pick certain bits of content out of the larger river of their dashboard and put it in their own space for people to experience with them. I follow people based on the interesting things that they find interesting. I’m interested in why they’re interested in those things. They seem like interesting people to me because they’re interested in what they’re interested in.
But the WHY is a really important part of the equation for me. Did this person reblog that photo because they’ve been to that place themselves, because they like that kind of tree, because they reblog photos with that color scheme every Thursday? Did that person reblog that piece of art because they love that character, because they’re studying that art medium, because it reminded them of something funny they saw somewhere else? People attach their own context to things that they latch onto. It’s so freaking weird to me that people have to hide their interpretations or impressions in tags here on Tumblr, making them unimportant and optional in the process of sharing things they like with others. (Okay, people also share a lot of things they hate, but reasons for outrage are still part of the context that one adds to content.)
I WANT TO KNOW WHY YOU CARE ABOUT WHAT YOU’RE SHOWING ME. I WANT TO KNOW WHAT MAKES IT IMPORTANT TO YOU. I WANT TO KNOW WHAT IT MAKES YOU THINK AND FEEL. Even if it’s a blurb about how giant robots fuck or a cute kitten video, I NEED TO KNOW THESE THINGS.
Not in excruciating detail or with insightful analysis or even a lot of text at all. Mostly, the things that people put in tags are things that, to me, are a really crucial part of the experience of being able to go into someone’s “home” and see the Stuff that they chose to put in it. Reducing oneself to a glorified signal repeater is...okay, I guess, though it turns a Tumblr blog into a kind of faceless stream of other people’s material a lot of the time. The personal touch is what makes it all interesting. And I’m just unutterably frustrated that, somewhere along the line, it was decided that personalizing an experience by sharing one’s own impressions of it became rude enough that polite society decided that it had to be hidden away in tags. I want all of it, so I do go looking for it, but omg it requires MORE EFFORT and BURNING CALORIES and BODILY MOVEMENT and WAAAAH, you know what I mean. :P
And possibly Tumblr society is right and it’s done for a good, decent purpose and I’m being pigheaded and uncool by insisting on doing things my way without bothering to try and understand the local customs. I’m not usually that much of an asshole, but I am about this, for some reason. And I admit that my craving for those personal touches could very well spring from how utterly isolated and lonely I am, so maybe normal people really don’t need all the extra info and actually do just want mostly-impersonal streams of content. And that’s fine, since I know I’m kind of a weirdo even on my best days.
I’m pretty sure that that was all that I really wanted to say. I’m probably overreacting about the whole comments-in-tags thing. Like I said, it’s kind of an irrational irritation. Also, I need to stop before I write myself sober and no longer have an excuse for all of this. If you actually read all of that, you are an awesome, generous person and I’m pretty damn certain that I love you even though I have no idea who you are.

I’m a beat maker in the same line of business, but luckily...
youtube
I’m a beat maker in the same line of business, but luckily (for you) I’ve been on your side of the pond also.
Yes, that’s right! I utilized to call myself an artist and I had this insane fantasy of becoming an effective artist. Sounds familiar?
I utilized to spend hours on Soundclick.com to search for that right track. And when I discovered it, I downloaded the totally free variation (with tags and all) and tape-recorded the next day. I wasn’t even buying the beats online! (Oops. bad example).
So without knowing a thing about blending and mastering, I bounced the track to an MP3 (In low bit-rate so that it would not take too much area on my 128MB MP3 Player) and let all my friends hear it the next day. What do you think their response was? Okay enough, let’s get back on subject and provide you these ideas for buying beats online.
1. Go to the Producer’s own site (even if it’s Soundclick!!).
So, you wish to start buying beats online for your brand-new project( s) and you finally found that heat on, for instance, YouTube or Soundcloud. (Soundclick is not mentioned because it’s slowly dying).
STOP!! Don’t you even begin composing a single word!
Make certain the beat is still readily available. You really do not wish to know the number of times I have had to disappoint a great artist by informing him or her that the beat is no longer available. If your record is actually great, that’s messed up for both of us.
Also, inspect if the site is ‘alive.’ I have whatever operating on auto-pilot so when I’m away for a month whatever still runs smoothly. Not all producers are fortunate to have such an automatic system. Just send an email saying that you want to BUY. If the site lives, you’ll see how fast they are to respond.
By the way: I’ve read some articles from producers about this topic and the suggestions they have for purchasing beats online and somehow they claim you ought to not buy from Soundclick pages. Wow, what’s that about? If the producer’s site is a Soundclick page it truly does not suggest she or he is not trustworthy.
Simply make certain you use PayPal when you’re purchasing beats online. You can constantly open a claim if a producer is not sending you the audio you have actually purchased. (HA-HA! Another tip). 2. Don’t buy the MP3 Leases if you consider yourself an Artist!
Like I mentioned, I utilized to use lousy MP3 formatted tagged files. Given that you’re checking out purchasing beats online instead of downloading them for free, it tells that you’re serious about your craft.
MP3’s are poor quality and you can really tell the difference when you start mastering the last track. Ask any audio engineer you understand.
Significant Labels and A&R’s are constantly searching the online community for possible super star artists. Even if you composed a killer hook, taped lovely harmonies and have actually developed a possible Signboard charting track, when the audio is crap they fast forward to the next track even before they come to that hook.
Tracked-Out leases are the very best alternative because they (usually) consist of the raw files from the production project and have not been restricted or compressed. Unfortunately, this is not constantly in everyone’s spending plan.
Because case; Go for the WAV instead. 3. Know your rights for both special and non-exclusive licenses.
This is pretty apparent, however still, I want to attend to 1 specific topic. You probably know about all the producers having these great overviews with what comes with a particular license and what not. Don’t be fooled!
CHECKED OUT THE PDF LICENSE ARRANGEMENT!
Everyone who establishes some type of an agreement has fine print added someplace and trust me (or better yet. don’t trust me. Simply trust no one!) it’s not going to be all up in your face while checking out the site.
4. The Online Beat Market is unclear, keep your eyes and ears open!
Wow, I stated it. However it holds true! Finding and purchasing beats online is just too damn easy. You can discover whatever you like and there are 100.000’s of producers out there that have actually produced 1.000.000’s of beats for artists worldwide. However.
MAKE CERTAIN YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE HANDLING! What are music beats? In music and music theory, the beat is the standard unit of time, the pulse (routinely duplicating event), of the mensural level (or beat level). … In popular use, beat can describe a range of associated ideas including: pulse, pace, meter, particular rhythms, and groove.
Have you ever discovered a producer who sells Exclusive OWNERSHIP for $50? I bet you do.
Those are the type of producers who are in it for the quick cash. They are offering you all the rights which is simply plain dumb of them, however likewise an unsafe person to be working with for you.
Why?
People who are driven by money and by loan only are the ones who can’t be trusted.
Whenever you’re working with an online producer, especially when it pertains to Exclusive Rights, ensure you have all the documentation reviewed prior to making payment.
Check out all the details and make certain you get a signed copy from the producer once you’ve made the purchase.
This is not an unusual thing to ask and if the producer is credible he will do that for sure. But when he begins acting all weird about it, it’s in your benefit to go out as quickly as you can.
I’m not stating that this is common for all producers who sell $50 exclusives of course! Just know who you are handling. 5. Bulk Offers– The Golden Suggestion (Producer World inside-information right here).
Okay, so state that you went on a producer’s site and you found 3 or 4 beats that you actually like, but your spending plan just enables you to buy 2 today. “Oh well, I’ll simply return later on when I get my income and acquire them then.”.
You’re super excited about it and can’t wait to acquire them and make some hits.
Okay okay, catch your breath and take a minute, because MAN (or lady). INSPECT THE BULK DEALS!
Producers have Bulk Deals going on all the time. Like, buy 1 get 2 free for instance.
You really do not wish to know on the number of celebrations artists acquired 3 licenses from my site while they could have gotten 5 instead. They simply didn’t see the advertisement to add 2 more to their cart free of charge.
I know how hyped you can be while you remain in your zone vibing to those beats. Trust me, I get it! You can’t wait to drop your magic on it but “come on!” Don’t let 2 Free Beats go to waste because of that. So now for the Golden Idea; What if the producer doesn’t have a Bulk deal going on?
SEND OUT AN E-MAIL!
United States producers are ALWAYS in to make a deal. Simply inform him that you found 4 beats, however can’t manage to purchase them all right now. Ask if he got any offers going on right now or anytime soon and if he would consider offering 4 for the cost of 2.
You will most likely get a reaction like;“ No, but I can do 4 for the price of 3.”
BOOM!! You just obtained 1 FREE license!
It does depend on how high the total rate of your order will be. Producers are probably to make a deal if the total amount that you are using is anywhere above $50. Just make a deal he can’t refuse.
Try it and you’ll see that it really works! That’s it, people!
These ideas I gave you all came from my personal experiences as both an artist and producer.
Once again; Discovering the best music for your project( s) online is ending up being far too simple. You just need to know what you’re doing and understand a little about the basics before you start purchasing beats online.
If you have any questions about this, let me know and I’ll assist you out with it!
Good luck on your Journey through music.
Nah simply kidding! Keep it fun and keep doing it for the love of music. Do that and you’ll see the opportunities crossing your course soon.
Very First Time Purchasing Beats Online?
I have actually been offering beats online for a number of years. Prior to I began doing anything related to making beats, I sat on the opposite of the table.
I used to rap. I used complimentary beats and I was purchasing beats from online producers.
Since I have actually sat on both sides of the table, I can think of the scenario that you’re in today. The whole reason you’ve decided to read this post.
You’re starting with music, however you’re planning to take this seriously. Or, you’ve currently been doing music for a while however things are starting to get more major. You’re looking into purchasing beats because you’re done using tagged beats. I get it, it’s distracting. Or maybe you have actually reached that level where the rational next step would be to appropriately license the beats you’re utilizing.
☝ If you recognize yourself somewhere in these lines, then you’re right where you need to be.
Because I am going to inform you everything you require to learn about buying beats online! Utilizing Free Beats
Initially, let’s discuss free beats.
The most convenient way to acknowledge a free beat is by the producer tags that you hear every 30 seconds.
When you buy a license for a beat, it will no longer have the tags in it.
If you remain in the ownership of beats without a license arrangement from the producer. Then you might think about that a totally free beat as well.
In that case, you’re not authorized to use it for business functions. Producers vs. Artists conversation on Free Beats
There’s been a conversation going on for many years. Certainly worth explaining a little more.
Producers dislike it when artists request complimentary beats. And yes, it takes place all the time.
When you’re trying to find beats on YouTube. Most of the titles you’ll find state “( FREE) BEAT” or “FREE DL.”
So, they’re providing free beats however then complain about artists utilizing their beats free of charge.
How is that NOT puzzling?.
The reason we do that pertains to marketing methods and ranking on YouTube. It’s simply click bait.
In defence of the producers, including myself. Believe me when I say that many artists are taking advantage of our craft and effort. And that is just ill-mannered if you ask me. What are music instrumentals? An instrumental is a musical composition or recording without lyrics, or singing, although it might include some inarticulate vocals, such as yelled backup vocals in a Big Band setting.
My music is downloaded hundreds of countless times in the last couple of years. Most of them unlawfully.
Envision the headaches …
So, I don’t feel bad about asking somebody to buy a beat with an appropriate license that includes it. It makes it simpler for all parties involved. What can you do with a totally free beat?
Very little … A minimum of, nothing commercially or rewarding.
Submitting on Facebook. Is that commercially? Nowadays, yes.
Very same chooses YouTube and Soundcloud (both are streaming services).
I offer complimentary beats to let artists …
Try it out prior to they purchase. Tape-record vocals and see if their vocals match the key of the beat. Record a demonstration and get feedback prior to buying a license for it.
I am permitting them to ensure that it’ll deserve the investment.
Often I do permit individuals to submit their tunes developed with my complimentary beats to Social network.
But if I want to take the tune down for no factor. It’ll be removed within minutes.
Yes, I can do that. Do not mess with free beats!
It’s amusing due to the fact that there is really no such thing as a FREE BEAT. If you are going to request for something totally free, ask for a free LICENSE.
If you’re using a beat for which you haven’t gotten a license agreement in composing from the producer. You’re unapproved to use it. And you might get in severe difficulty.
As you can see, the statutory damages for copyright violation are unbelievably high. Believe me, you don’t wish to tinker that.
Buying beats online– How does it work?
By acquiring a beat, you are purchasing audio files that are copyrighted by the producer. In return for your payment, the producer grants you several rights to use the beat.
This is what we call the License Arrangement. There is a difference in between:
Non-exclusive licenses Unique licenses.
The most significant difference is that a non-exclusive license for one beat can be offered to several artists.
Yet, an exclusive license can just be offered when and to one artist only.
In this short article, I will just resolve the subject of non-exclusive licensing.
Different licensing choices– Which one to select?
Online producers use different licensing choices. In my case, I have 3 options.
Fundamental Premium Endless
Some producers call them MP3 Lease, WAV Lease or Requirement Lease however it pretty much works the very same.
The more pricey your license, the more rights you obtain from the producer.
Also, the more costly your license, the much better quality audio files you will receive.
So, what is the very best choice?
I am not gon na lie. The majority of people that are purchasing beats online choose the cheaper licenses. One that includes fewer user-rights and low-grade audio files The user-rights approved in those cheaper licenses might be enough for them.
Yet, more notably are the quality of the audio files.
If you’re looking to develop quality music or at least wish to make music properly. Then make certain you get the Tracked Out files.
If possible, always opt for a license that features Tracked Out Files. In my case, that would be the Premium or Endless license.
Once I purchase a beat– Do I own any copyright?
When you write your lyrics and tape it over the beat, you will own the copyright to your lyrics just. And what you will develop with the beat is a Brand-new Song, also called a “Acquired Work.”
This implies that you will own and manage 50% of the so-called “Writer’s Share.”
The producer will own and manage the other 50% of writer’s share.
You do not own the master or the sound recording rights because New Tune.
You have been accredited the right to utilize the beat and commercially make use of the song you make with it. Based upon the conditions of the license arrangement you’ve purchased.
The producer will stay the sole owner and holder of all right, title, and interest in the Beat. Consisting of all copyrights to and in the sound recording. And the underlying musical compositions, written and composed by the producer.
What if I purchase a non-exclusive license, then another person acquires the exclusive license for that same beat?
When it concerns buying beats online, you’re given the rights that you received when you purchased the beat.
So, when someone else purchases the special rights, it will not (immediately) affect you.
But there are some things you need to understand …
In the old days, you were approved the user rights in the non-exclusive licenses for life. And most producers still operate in this manner.
Nowadays, some producers offer licenses that end after 2-4 years. In my case, my licenses end after 4 years.
This means that you will have to purchase a new license after that term.
If somebody purchased the unique rights throughout your term. That will only suggest that you will no longer be able to restore your license. After your term is due.
Producers don’t always reveal this details in their licensing tables. Ensure you check that before you make the purchase.
Another thing!
I’ve discovered just recently that some producers install a new term in their license arrangement.
One that grants the producer the right to end your license agreement even before your term is due.
The producer includes in their arrangements that they’re enabled to end the license contract upon composed notice to you.
In return, they will pay you double or triple of what you have actually at first spent for the beat.
That does not have to be a problem for you, however whether it is, depends entirely on the success of your song.
Always examine your agreements prior to buying beats online!
Purchasing beats online– Is it safe?
Many producers use a Beat Store Provider to sell their beats online. The most common ones are:
BeatStars.com Airbit.com
These platforms both have an excellent credibility for representing producers and their music. That’s why a lot of producers’ websites and music gamers look the same.
These music gamers have instant shipment after checkout.
After you have actually made the payment, you will be redirected to a download location. And you’ll also receive an order confirmation by email.
If you’re not sure if a producer is affiliated with among these platforms. Go to the BeatStars or Airbit site and search for the producers’ name.
If they are on it, you can make the purchase from BeatStars’ or Airbit’s Market, just to be safe.
If they’re not on these platforms, connect to the producer with any issues you have. They’ll respond as soon as you tell them that you’re interested in purchasing beats from them.
Before you connect; Ensure you have actually checked the website for a FAQ section. If you’re asking questions for which the responses are right in front of you, they do not constantly react.
Remember … On platforms like BeatStars and Airbit, producers still develop their own license agreements. They operate on their own terms.
Prior to you buy a beat, always check the full license arrangements or licensing terms.
Like I said, those flashy prices tables don’t always reveal you whatever!.
Here are some tips for purchasing beats online:.
Pay with PayPal or Stripe. Inspect if the producer sells through a BeatStars or Airbit gamer. Read the License Agreements. Reach out to the producer with your issues.
I’m a beat maker in the same line of business, but luckily... posted first on https://the4th3rd.tumblr.com
