why do so many liberal zionists add "non-palestinian" in front of "non-jewish" whenever they complain about antizionists and insist that all the palestinians are just offscreen agreeing with them about the real way to peace? do they not realize palestinians have social media accounts or are they just banking on everyone else also isolating themselves in a zionist echo chamber with no actual palestinians to contradict them? bc theyre not convincing anyone who knows that every single palestinian on here and online in general fucking hates them. like i know it's a rhetorical darvo to paint antizionism as a privileged western gentile position of ppl that can't possibly understand the complex issue who just want to hate Bad Jews but its so insane to see them rbing literal palestinians to call them raging antisemites and then the next post is about how every palestinian actually supports a two state solution and condemns hamas and this is spearheaded by "western tankie gentiles"
i havent been like interacting with zionists or looking at their blogs these past couple months because i can't take that much anger in my life anymore and ive come to the point where it doesn't matter what they say they're seriously intellectually dishonest and useless. the people who listen to them and agree with them have a vested interest in keeping the state of israel functioning and if they wanna pretend its for "peace" go right ahead but dont pretend like youre the authority on these things lol. in general ive only taken to reblogging zionist additions to my posts to let people know to block.
it might be the latest zionist strategy of saying "non palestinians and nonjews" to reinforce the idea that its an "internal" issue (which its not to be clear) and they proceed to ignore the fact that palestinians are begging people to get involved to help them. but whatever! the people who are convinced by them at this point are people who genuinely dont care about palestinians at all and i am not willing to argue with them on this.
i will say, zionists on here have become more brazenly pro-fascist! either in interacting with fascists or letting fascist speak in their spaces or even just defending them under the guise of "defending jews" (think of the bingo blocklist. they're still at it btw, the bingo board, but like i have yet to see a single person on the zionist side of tumblr at all admonish the idea of the bingo at all which is telling in itself.) anyways these people are disgusting and selfish and like i say, i abhor selfishness more than anything.

Why are most baeddels/TIRFs literally the most pretentious, petty and obnoxious mfs on tumblr?
"Why is tumblr soo male dominated!?" >Has interests in shit that almost only incel gahmer 4channers have
"It's transmisogynist to say Tumblr trans people should fuck instead of arguing over stupid shit" >Username it's Doggylolihorsegirlcock or derivatives and regulary shares porn
No shit trans men are pissed y'all act like white cis bitches using their bleach tears to be racism and get teens murdered while fantasizing behind doors with ebony gangrape!
Btw gurls since for some reason this is also a common cliche? uhm red fascism and antisemitism is in fact, not very cute!
Tumblr media
Assuming these are both you, gonna ignore most of this because it’s very stupid and not worth acknowledging, but I do think it’s funny how blatant the reading comprehension errors of the posts you’re mad about are here
Like how you’re angry about the post saying “hey isn’t it kinda lame how this ostensibly women/queer dominated fandom site hates all women in media and focuses only on men” and misreading that as the post saying that it’s actually too many men in fandom? Just middle schooler ability to understand text, it’s kinda incredible. Do also appreciate you at the end taking a moment to declare support for Israel, really a cherry on top here.
Generally disappointing hate anons though, it’s just very bog standard lesbophobia and transmisogyny, all the classic baseless accusations of pedophilia, racism, inceldom, etc etc. Some new acronyms but same recycled ideas. You’ve got potential though!

watch the language shift. forget about everything else for a minute, just focus on the language shift. i'm talking about the progressive left who came out to support israel, i mean.
i am speaking about people who are politically conscious and have critical thinking skills and follow the news and get involved in anti-racism, queer rights, what have you, and are also pro-israel. over here on tumblr and on social media and in the news, at the beginning of the israeli "counter-offensive", they started out by explaining why it was justified etc., by immediately stating that israel has a right to defend itself and why, etc. which, i guess, fair, in alignment with their position, all cool.
and then as the days turned to weeks and there were attacks on hospitals and refugee camps and images coming out of the "war zone" etc. but most importantly we watched the palestinian death toll turn to the thousands and then break the tens of thousands, with photos of neighborhoods turned into ghost graveyards, and suddenly pro-israel peeps (again, i am talking about ppl who know their stuff, who are progressive and interested in social justice) started prefacing every post or statement with "we empathize with the innocent palestinians, but" or "we don't hate the palestinians but" or "we pray for all innocent lives but", and then continue on spouting their opinion unhindered
but they do add that bit now.
so they know.
consciously or unconsciously, they know this shit it indifensible. they do feel that cognitive dissonance, at the disproportionate and indiscriminate israeli response. they're progressive, and they care about social justice, and they know how to interpret the news and the numbers. and then, i guess, they justify it by reinforcing the guiltiness of hamas (which i am not disputing, btw). in pro-israel rallies, they say "of course we feel for civilian palestinians who reject hamas but" or "we are all praying for the safety of innocent civilians. But",
and then it's always "but all of them actually voted for hamas" (even though that's not true), "but they were told to leave why are they still there", or "but they are probably all anti-semitic and hate queer people", or "a ceasefire would be bad actually".
but they do add that bit beforehand.
they know, as people who are politically and socially conscious, that if they don't add that bit, that their conscience would call them liars. even those who genuinely don't care about palestinian lives add that, because they realize how inhumane (and dehumanizing) it would sound if they didn't.

@jewishdainix commented on this post:
The thing is, israel must be dismantaled because it is built on xenophobia, nationalism and subjeugation of palestinians. I agree with you on the worry of jewish safety, but that needs to be done by fostering and building communities of both nations of people, where both are welcome and safe, not by keeping an opressive colonialist state with no interest in equality or peace in power.
And Im saying this as a jew who lives in occupied palestine, btw. I know co-existing eont come out of nowhere, but it can be built.
(New post because the original is very long.)
Thank you for commenting! Most of the commentary I'm getting seems to be from people who are as removed from the conflict as I am.
I think a major factor in the discussion that stemmed from my initial response to the first "r u pro Palestine" question was that I was... well, very tired and not running on all cylinders, for one, but also in an intersection of Tumblr that sees a lot of half-baked political reblogs where people just... share things they either don't know ANYTHING about or don't realize how much is our isn't propaganda.
I am not immune to propaganda, especially the subtler kind, as evidenced by my having to adjust my understanding of the Yemen situation.
But the thing is that like... that intersection means I've seen a LOT of takes that are extreme (like Hamas and the Houthis being entirely right about Israel and how to handle it, or that even the children in Israel, by virtue of being Israeli, are guilty) as well as a lot of people who are supporting extreme solutions without really thinking things through?
Like, the majority of the people I see talking about Dismantling Israel seem to be in favor of doing so quickly and without regard to what happens to the people there, Because They're The Bad Guys, or because they just don't realize that this is the sort of thing that takes time and management to do safely.
Like... when I see so many people parroting things with an underlying tone of hate and malice towards even the civilians, it makes me concerned that any expression of support for a position like "dismantle Israel" will be taken as support by both "do so slowly and responsibly with an aim towards integration and safety for all" AND the "boot out all the jews" sides, because when the first question is only four words, I can't also answer in only four words, because political slogans are never JUST what they actually mean.
That said, the discussion over the past few days definitely has me sympathizing more with the Dismantle argument, but I do wonder about how it would be enforced, and by whom. Like, the Israeli government has made it pretty clear they have no interest in ceasefire, let alone a dismantling, so... does the UN get involved? NATO? Is the US sent in to undo Israel, the way they're trying to undo things like the Houthi government (as I've been told they're functionally the government of 70% of Yemen)? What gives us people of the world the right to choose interventionism in Israel but not Yemen or Iran?
Just cutting US aid from Israel opens the doors to Hamas and Houthi and associated groups "managing" the dismantling, which is the situation I expressed so much concern over in the previous post, so that's not an option. It looks like we do need the UN to be involved if that goal of Dismantling to build something new is possible, but that's interventionism, which is bad because it violates self-determination, except when it's not bad because there's mass murder happening, except when it's still bad even though the mass murder already happened, and...
IDK
It's so complicated and I WANT to believe there's a solution but the political philosophy and practical implications are kind of. A necessary consideration even when the ethics are clear cut.

seeing people I used to like reblog from a fucking twitter tankie freak (all tankies are antisemitic btw idgaf) just cuz of their pro-palestine posts is making me wanna hallucinate. I am begging chronically online losers not to boost tankies just cuz theyre pro-palestine, also being pro-palestine and pro-russia is oxymoron. I wanna fucking die
Yeah, I agree.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Netanyahu and Putin are authoritarians who have both remained in power far longer than any true democracy would have allowed, and they are both using their militaries to colonize peoples and take land.
And tankies?
Tumblr media
Unfortunately tankies are so easily manipulated that all you have to do is say America supports something and they’re immediately against it on that alone, with no critical thought whatsoever.
Finally, while I absolutely positively do agree that the Venn diagram of antisemites and tankies is almost a perfect circle, I need to stress, especially now, that not every criticism of Israel is antisemitism. But unfortunately, many criticisms of Israel’s war crimes in Palestine dO come from antisemitic people who have been waiting for the right moment to unleash their inner racist. So yeah, always gotta be on the lookout there.
That all said, I think that the main thing with tankies is, they’re authoritarians at heart. They’re perfectly okay with colonialism and imperialism and even ethnic cleansing and war crimes -as long as their side is the one doing it. Perhaps THAT is the main difference here, iMho. ( x )
If you look at any of the main pro-putin tankie accounts here on tumblrdotcom, the two things that you should immediately notice are 1. Despite some of their URLs, they’re almost all self-proclaimed “radical” 🙄 white dudes (sorry, but I’m Black and my personal belief is that ANY revolution for positive change ain’t gonna be led by a white guy, especially not the cringy ones who are stuck on Lenin), and, 2. Their hot takes on Russia and Putin are practically indistinguishable from Republican talking points.
Practically everything Tucker Carlson said, tankies wholeheartedly agree with. I’m surprised tankies haven’t made Tucker Carlson their pfp. But I guess that would be a bit too on the nose, wouldn’t it? To be clear, this isn’t me saying that anyone who disagrees with me is a Republican or a Russian bot, but have you ever read through a tankie skreed? Really read through it? I hear many of their exact same bullshit talking points on Fox News and from conservative news outlets. It’s just revarnished bullshit, wrapped up in ☭ for tumblr.

Continuation from my last post.. Rant/Vent warning, I need to get my feelings across somehow, read at your own discretion..
🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸
Its honestly just sickening to me that this platform that I've been trying to grow in for the past like, 2 years supports fucking genocide.. and just for the record! I've been retweeting the genocide of Palestine on my secret twit account to hell and back, so yeah I'm not gonna be silent about this bullshit!! to some degree.. sorry I haven't been doing that here too as much btw, but anyway..
It genitally pisses me off how this is even allowed in the first place, Israel is commiting war crime after war crime bombing hospitals and ambulances! Palestine even had to resort to useing horses again, which so surprise! Israel ALSO ending up shutting down.. LITERAL ANIMALS!! THEY AREN'T EVEN SAFE FROM ALL OF THIS!!!
the amount of pain I've saw over the past few months of footage of the people of Palestine suffering is breaking me too! People losing their family's! The ruins of Gaza. the lack of resources. And on top of all of that Having to witness surgery performed on them WITHOUT ANESTHESIA!! MOSTLY HAPPENING TO KIDS MIND YOU, LITERAL FUCKING CHILDREN!!!!!
And Israel is claiming it's "self defense" EVEN THOUGH THATS FAR FROM IT!! THEY ARE TARGETING THE KIDS, WHO DOSE THAT!!!!! THE AMOUNT OF MALAISE I HAVE FOR ISRAEL NOW OVER MOUNTS MY HATRED FOR PIKACHU, which reminder I HATE A LOT!!!!!!!!!
And everywhere I go I can't escape inadvertently supporting the genocide.. literally everything I know supports it to some degree.. like i cant even have fun with some legos without being reminded that they support this too! I'm not gonna bother to namedrop anything else, mainly cuz I'm getting tired from typing all of this shit but you get the point..
To end things off just know that I'm doing everything in my power to not support Israel, and know that I fully side with Palestine and all of the other countries that Israel has spat on.. and just to make things clear I'm not deleting my Tumblr account.. I can only support it if I buy something from here (I think, idk how site stuff works) so yeah..
Sorry you had to read all of that but I just needed to get all of that out.. Fuck Israel!!
From the river to the sea, Palestine WILL be free!!!!!!!!!!!

hiii, welcome to Tumblr, aka a fun hellsite, I'm Samantha!! <3
can you do crossover headcanons between Lackadaisy and Hazbin Hotel, if possible? Like not only the Lackadaisy Trio (Rocky, Ivy, Freckle) somehow ended up in hell, but ALSO The Marigold Trio? (Mordecai, Nico, Serafine). I feel like the antics of the rum-running cats would certainly intrigue the hotel guests, but Alastor would immediately take a liking to them because of the whole 1920s thing. Also Alastor and Mordecai possibly bonding (because both of them are canonically ace! <3)
If that's okay?? hope you enjoy it here! :D
Hello Samantha! I absolutely love crossovers but this may not be the best since it’s my first request but I’ll give it a try!
Tumblr media
—————————————————————————
• First Off, Alastor and Mordecai would actually be the ace duo, but I also feel like he would sometimes be peeved off with Alastor because of his “Vexing behaviour”
• Alastor also has taken a liking to the Lackadaisy Trio and finds them very amusing (they are lit one of the best trios in the world) he also scares the absolute shit out of Freckle
• This is a bit of a stupid thought but a very drunk or not drunk Rocky would annoy the shit out of Husk in the bar (where else would he be cmon)
• This would be 100% canon if this happened because if Angel Dust + Cheri Bomb and Serafine + Nico would have an absolute whale of a time shooting and bombing places and other demons/devils, like they would lit be a power quadruple(?)
• I feel like Charlie and Ivy would also kinda get along since they both love dancing (I had to re-research this) so I feel like they would dance to music from the 20’s together 🥹
•Rocky would deffo call Charlie m’lady.
•Freckle social distances from Angel for the you-know-what reason (pew pew 🔫)
•Can’t rlly think of anything else besides Freckle would probs stay with Vaggie the whole time (he’s scared as shit and he finds safety in Vaggie)
————————————————————————
Tumblr media
AHHH FIRST ONE DONE
IT ISNT THE BEST IK BUT I RLLY COULDNT THINK OF ANYTHING, HOPEFULLY MY WRITING IMPROVES
Also I forgot to mention the dni’s in my introduction post so I’m just gonna put them here:
Homophobia
Transphobia
Racism
NSFW (I get uncomfortable writing this category of stuff)
Sexism
Israel Supporters
and basically everything in the dni book
Requests are still open btw!

okay, its This Post if you want to go look, but I'm not going to reply on the thread cause I have writing to do tonight and, like I said, yelling at a brick wall does no good. But I WILL take the opportunity to point out a couple things that are common mistakes online during discourse and how you can manipulate a response.
Under a cut because most people don't find examining fallacy and post analysis interesting.
To start, here's all responses of the thread in a simplified form:
Post about voting against Trump
Post from Ohsalome supporting OP with a reference to a commonly heard complaint about Biden (that he is supporting Israel)
Post supporting OP, with a reference to a statement from Trump about creating a dictatorship.
Post supporting OP, talking about the dangers of Trump globally.
Post about the use of Russian misinfo in 2016, discouraging voting and dividing progressives from more moderate dems. Also that it is visible today about Gaza.
Me, supporting OP, and #5, acknowledging the existence of nuance, and adding reminders of Trump being awful.
Quote of someone's tags in support of people voting
Arabian Knight shifts tone and topic, sounding more like Trump, and throws out a lot of directionless insults at the rest of the thread.
Arabian Knight again, misquoting #2, turning a statement into a scare quote that they use to expand on their insults.
Anathema comes in, loudly outraged by the quote Arabian Knight presented in #9, claiming it came from Ohsalome in #2
Wet Paint arguing for people to vote in a primary against Biden (there is no primary btw, this is not an option) and then tagging me and my quote, to claim that I think American lives are worth more than Palestinian lives.
So. That's an excellent example of how fast online conversation can be derailed by one person, and how misquotes and misrepresentations can invent a new conversation and scandal.
Fast analysis version: Arabian Knights changed the quote - maliciously or not - Anathema only reacted to the last post, with the false quote. Now in an emotionally charged setting, Wet Paint responded emotionally, colored by the anger of Anathema and Arabian Knight's posts.
Slower version:
High in the thread is Ohsalome who (Im not tagging folks in, do not do so for me) references a hypothetical argument against Biden. They don't say a specific source, bc its a simplified version of the hyperbolic complaint that shows up on a lot of posts lately. "he is murdering palestinian babies" Many progressives are rightly horrified by Biden supporting Israel, and don't know how to square that with voting for him. To me, that's a fairly clear and obvious generalization by Ohsalome, ymmv. Highlighted below.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In response to Ohsalome, Arabian Knight abbreviates the hypothetical quote, reducing it to just the phrase Palestinian Babies, and places quotes around only those two words. Yes, those are words that Ohsalome said, but you should basically never trust a tiny quote if someone is hinging an argument on it. That change turns it from a hypothetical quote from someone talking about why you wouldn't vote for Biden, and implies that Ohsalome themself was using scare quotes and doubting the existence of Palestinian Babies killed in the attacks on Gaza. That is not what it says or implies. It is a manipulation by Arabian Knight (statistically, this wasn't intentional manipulation, just tumblr's reading comprehension fails) But by putting that cherry picked phrase in quotes, it shifted the meaning and tone of the entire thread.
Then they bring in the accusations - and to be fair if Ohsalome DID claim that the dead in Palestine were fake, that would be super fucked up - and Anathema jumps in to back them up, responding exclusively to a misrepresented quote, not the original, and not the context of the original. They're specifically mad about quotation marks implying that there are no dead Palestinian babies, which - Again - were placed as scare quotes by Arabian Knight, not Ohsalome.
Anathema then takes another step to move the argument into emotions and morals by citing their own reaction to images they have seen.
See how fast it's turned into emotions? You already know that pivoting into emotions is a super effective way to manipulate someone. In this case, it took a post about hey, we really gotta prevent Trump winning, and made it into whether those people therefore, personally support murdering babies. You make that jump with emotion. Anything else, and people notice it.
Now.
I got tagged into this despite getting skipped by the misquote kefuffle. Here's what the new contender, Wet Paint, said, and the grab of what I'd said in my response.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This time, its not a misquote or a modification of a quote. Props for that. Yeah, it skips the context of the rest of the comment, but that's the nature of pulling quotes. Which is why you have to get in the habit of going back to the source to check context. I know its obnoxious, especially in the age of paywalls, but. do it anyway.
What Wet Paint does instead is create a false dichotomy. If I thought it was done intentionally, I'd almost be proud, because my post IS talking about a dichotomy... but not the one they are. I was talking about how its going to be Trump or Biden. A dichotomy.
They remade it into a zero sum scenario where it is Biden or Palestine. They've added the assumption that by saving American lives, you are killing Palestinians. There are times when that situation exists, so, this can easily sound like something you should stop and consider. And honestly? Do that. Pause, consider, and when you do, go chase down the source and see if you're missing something.
If a situation is as clean cut as 1 for 1 exchange of life, holy fuck, grab a pitchfork and give me a call so I can grab mine.
I'm not repeating my statements from that post. That's not the point right now. I just wanted to talk about how arguments get shaped and twisted online.
If I was a russian actor, and I wanted to manipulate this conversation to divide voters and increase Trump's odds of winning, the above is a really good starting point for how to do it.

posting here just in case i got other mutuals (especially the ones from southeast asia) involved with irl organizing. btw if your org do end up signing please dont tell anyone you found this from my tumblr
Tumblr media
CALL FOR ENDORSEMENT
As the Zionist Israeli regime is continuing its genocidal offensive against the Palestinian people, it is crucial for all progressive forces in the world to intensify our call to put an end to the genocide.
The Southeast Asian Left Network has initiated a joint statement to condemn the Israeli genocide against the people of Palestine and express support for the right to self-determination of the Palestinian people.
If your organization would like to endorse this joint statement, please fill out the this online form:
==========
Joint Statement of the Southeast Asian Left Organizations
End the genocide! Solidarity with Palestine!
We, the undersigned organizations, strongly condemn the Zionist regime of Israel for committing genocidal crimes against the Palestinian people.
The Zionist state of Israel is currently carrying out an invasion and continuous colonization of Palestine, resulting not only in deprivation of the Palestinian people's fundamental rights to independence, dignity, justice, and prosperity, but also in perpetuating and even bolstering global imperialism which is currently still entrenched in various parts of the world.
Without the military and political backing of the United States Israel’s occupation of the West Bank, Gaza and Palestinian territories and the genocide underway in Gaza will not be possible. The U.S and the Western imperialist powers are thoroughly complicit in the genocide of the people of Gaza. Even the very existence of Israel would be impossible.
The fascist Zionist Israeli regime led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has committed egregious crimes against humanity, war crimes and genocide on a massive scale with the assistance of weapons and funding from Western imperialist powers led by the United States. Since the start of the Israeli bombardment of Gaza, the cunning actions of ordering people to evacuate, then bombarding the refugees’ escape route, and murdering journalists and medical teams, have resulted in the deaths of at least 27,000 people, including more than 12,000 children, and over 67,000 wounded. Over 1.9 million Palestinians displaced in Gaza Strip.
The invasion, colonization, crimes against humanity and other atrocities committed by the Zionist Israeli regime, notwithstanding the myriad of excuses and falsehoods propagated, are basically aimed to obliterate the struggle for Palestinian independence, expel the Palestinian people, seize their lands and expand Israeli territorial control.
We, as a progressive people’s movement, are united in our struggle against imperialism, Zionism and genocide. We reiterate our support for the Palestinian struggle for national liberation.
We hereby, call for:
- An end to the Zionist genocide in Palestinian territories;
- An end to all aggression by the Zionist Israeli military on the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip and West Bank;
- Punishment against all the perpetrators who committed crimes against humanity, including the Netanyahu government, U.S President Biden, and the governments of the United States, the United Kingdom in their complicity in the genocide in Gaza;
- Fullest support for the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and to resist Israel’s occupation;
- Support for the establishment of a new democratic state based on solidarity among all peoples regardless of ethnicity or religion.
We call upon all progressive forces to intensify our mobilizations and actions to push these demands.
Free Palestine now!

So, I'm scrolling through my dashboard and I see this post:
Tumblr media
This post has 1000+ notes.
Needless to say, the post is wrong. The woman in the video did say, "I went through hell" about her experiences as a hostage. It's not CNN propaganda. It's the truth.
Here is what the woman, Yocheved Lifschitz, additionally said in a fuller video:
youtube
"I went through hell something I didn't think human beings would do to one another. I have never gone through anything like it in my life… The young men beat me and hurt me and they took my watch and jewelry." (timestamp: 1:12 to 1:26)
This was translated by notable Palestine-friendly news network, Al Jazeera. They are funded by Qatar, who currently harbors Hamas leadership within their borders. Qatar also served as mediators between the US, Israel, and Hamas during hostage negotiations. So you could say, Al Jazeera has the least amount of motive to skew bias of their coverage towards Israel or the West.
OP's post is unequivocally wrong. Yes, war and propaganda often go hand in hand. For a genocide to happen, the aggressor will try to justify it. But in this post, specifically, OP backs these claims with evidence that is an outright lie.
Also, what exactly is OP trying to say?
If you read that CNN article, we see the entire dialogue where Lifschitz also praises her Hamas captors for being "kind" during captivity. OP is saying that CNN is spreading propaganda to justify genocide. I'm being generous here, but I guess the evidence for that is: "The headline did not mention how well Hamas treated the hostage."
Hm. I wonder why?
I think it's because she said the experience was hell.
Because. She. Was. A. Hostage.
Is that where we are now in the Tumblr discourse? Our thinking is so black-or-white to the point where someone could kidnap your grandma, beat her up, then bring her back and someone will respond with, "Well, why is no one talking about how they fed her?"
Yet, OP's post has 1000+ notes... 1000+ notes on a post that is omitting the words of a recent captive (whose husband is still with Hamas btw, whose life is very much at their whim) to support OP's agenda of saying: "israel bad, media = propaganda."
Contrary to what many Tumblr bloggers may have you believe, the news media is not inherently untrustworthy.
That is not to say they are omniscient beings. News networks can be wrong. They can be biased like everything in the world. This is why you diversify your sources. And I don't mean start reading joke publications like the New York Post or Democracy Now. You should still aim for something with a semblance of neutrality.
However, you, as the consumer, need to maintain healthy skepticism of what is being left out, glossed over, or ignored. Always get a bigger picture. To do that, get more vetted sources. Just don't fall into QAnon thinking and suspect all news organizations are targeting you with propaganda. There is an unhealthy degree of distrust towards competent news organizations on Tumblr these days.
Frankly, many of us should treat other bloggers with the same amount of distrust Tumblr users treat the Western news media with.
Otherwise, we risk a repeat of 2016's infamous Russian bots. Except this time, we're the bots spreading misinformation to fuel pointlessly divisive discourse. And whose to say we don't have paid bad actors sowing discontent on this site right now. Don't feed into it. Do your own research. Diversify your sources. Call out falsehoods.
Don't take the average Tumblr blog at their word when the topic is something as serious as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Otherwise, you run the risk of letting one person define an entire international crisis for you.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
@not-your-average-prolifer
I totally understand why you deactivated the reblogs and I PROMISE I will deactivate mine if my post attract other weirdos (btw, the person who cussed you is a literal Israel/Tsahal worship blog so you really shouldn't take anything they say seriously)
BUT this hysterical reaction made me realize one thing
Since we're on Tumblr, all of us probably seen the post floating every 9/11 mourning the victims of the US retaliation in Irak but also many other middle east countries for the next following years later
Hardly anyone on the notes of those post has the audacity to be like "so you condone the attack on the world trade center??" "You defend islamists ??"
But when the people make the same kind of post, mourning the CIVILIAN cost on Palestine, it's IMPOSSIBLE to not have someone inquiring OP to give their opinion on Hamas and condemn them.
The funny thing is, I once had an exchange with a zionist thinking they were doing something compelling me to condemn Hamas. I did. Because the "I'm against attacking civilians" statement isn't a prerogative to Palestinians. Then I asked them "and you? do you condemn Israel terror on Palestine for the last few weeks?"
That person has never been able to condemn Israel. And the discussion ended.
That's why I advise anyone to take not seriously any of those people, because they expect from anyone a moral righteousness that they themselves are unable to live up for.
One thing that I noticed is that pro Israel are legitimately confused by people advocating for Palestine civilians being ALSO against Hamas. Their brain kinda freeze and resort to other tactics to villainize you anything ("you still hate Jews for not supporting israel" "you're leftist paving the way for Hamas " etc etc) to not lose face. Because God forbid someone defending the life of civilians isn't also an antisemite ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's funny how on Tumblr a lot of people (foreign too) think Catalonian independence movement is left-wing when it is strongly right-wing nationalism. They have what we could say, a good marketing though.
First I'll leave this here as a reference (note: Spain is divided in comunidades and ciudades autónomas). This is all the money Spain gives to each community annualy in 2023:
Tumblr media
Wow, isn't Catalonia in first place?????????? Btw is the biggest Community (Comunidad Autónoma, idk how to translate it) here? Nope! But they get more money than any other, in fact the biggest is Castilla y León in sixth place (one of the biggest communities with this problem of "España vaciada"). We could say... Catalonia ens roba? ;)
This link is in Spanish so I'll just quickly explain it: it's about poblation, it's vaciada ("emptied Spain") because... nobody wants to live in a city with <1000 people living there (lack of schools, universities, jobs, etc) so they are forced to emigrate, obviously. Where do they go? To bigger cities. What's one of these cities? Barcelona (in Catalonia). But they're anti-migration too, so...
Basically, it's Madrid 2.0, where Spain has put more money and more "care" in the past. and still does nowadays. in their main urban centers but supposedly, this isn't true according to them. Except it is? Almost any other community is neglected in comparison but supposedly by them, they're the ones BEING OPPRESSED BY THEM??? Pardon? What do you think "España vaciada" means (go up)? Why do you think a lot of people in small towns in the countryside have to study and find a job in big cities like Madrid and Barcelona (Catalonia)? Maybe because they're the ones truly neglected in comparison? Don't you think??? What do you think about Catalonians being strongly against people from others parts of the country having to study in big cities like Barcelona (among other cities elsewhere) because anyone who isn't Catalonian is dirty for them? What do you think about them complaining because according to them "50% of the people who study medicine here isn't from Catalonia"? What do you think about them even appropiating people and culture from other places of the country and outside of it? What do you think about some independence supporters saying Cervantes, Shakespeare and DaVinci were from Catalonia when it is totally false (and there are millions of more cases where they say the same thing)? Mainly they like to do it with Joanot Martorell though, I add only his wikipedia page because they do it CONSTANTLY, so many times I could add any links of them doing it. Isn't it funny how, just to add more, they also want to annex other places from Spain too (hola, Baleares, hola Comunidad Valenciana) because we belong to them, according to them? Sorry, I'm okay with those joke maps where Alicante is with Albacete and Murcia, but I refuse to be with such nationalistic assholes. Btw, they also want to be a tax heaven like Andorra. :) They even compare themselves with Scottish people (which it's totally different...). They compare one of their protests with the conflict of Palestine and Israel, and also with Ukraine (I wished I had saved these tweets in the past...). Yeah, they compare wars with protests. I have more and more to say, but I will stop here. A lot of them think Andalusian people are dirty and lazy, btw.
Sadly, a lot of left-wing people eat up this argument and won't/can't see this is purely right-wing nationalism.
I could add more and more but probably nobody will read this, left-wing people will keep eating up made up stuff (I'm left-wing but c'mon...) anyway, I have to eat and I'm pretty much venting more than anything.
No, I won't ever talk about other independence movements in Spain because I don't want to talk about things I don't know, but this one, this one I know it.
Note: when I say Catalonians I don't mean every Catalonian, only those in the movement.

Standing Strong in Current Political Climate
Alright, I mostly try to keep this to silly fandom and tumblr stuff, but with everything going on politically, it’s time for a serious post. About reality, about politics, and about how we survive. This is going to be about transphobia, queerphobia, and genocide, so I’m giving fair warning.
Buckle up.
Now, this is going to primarily US-Centric, as that’s what I’m familiar with, but make no mistake. There has been an authoritarian rise worldwide.
The UK has been Tory central for the past decade.
Australia has been putting climate refugees into concentration camps.
Israel has been using the pandemic to increase efforts to wipe out Palestinians.
Italy’s Prime Minister is Mussolini’s granddaughter (she’s proud of that btw) and is increasing queerphobia.
Russia is trying to recreate the USSR only with no fake pretenses of Communism (it was authoritarianism) this time around.
And the United States? Well the Republicans have been playing the long game since Reagan, and most of the Democratic party is perfectly fine with fascism since it makes them richer.
All this while the Earth becomes unlivable, people starve, and more. Oh, and covid never went away.
So.
The situation is...bad. Let’s just say it’s bad. There also seems to be a target on queer folks moreso than Jewish folks this time around, most likely since the Holocaust made most people a little twitchy about targeting Jewish folks, though that’s not to say those in charge aren’t perfectly fine with killing Jews.
Anyone who doesn’t conform to a mold is at risk.
But.
The situation is not hopeless.
I know it’s easy to read all that and think we’re all fucked, but I promise you, there is hope.
People have been unionizing, and striking at their workplaces.
Time and again, polls show that more people support queer people than oppose.
Time and again, polls show that the extremist view is a minority.
CPAC? That was practically empty this year.
More and more people are making it clear they want policies that help people and they’re tired of policies that help corporations.
People want to help the planet, they want to help other people. They don’t want to mass murder the “outsider.”
So what can you do?
Well, it varies depending on who you are, and where you are. Are you in Canada? Then vote and push for progressive policies, rather than right wing ones. In particular, you can join the push to allow asylum seekers to claim dangerous levels of queerphobia as their reason. This would help so many. Folks in other countries, I would reccomend the same. (Also maybe do something about that law preventing disabled people from immigrating to your country? Yeah, it’s a thing in a lot of countries. And there’s a lot of disabled queer people.)
You can join protests, and help local politicians canvas.
Unfortunately I can’t provide much info on what to do if you’re in most countries where being queer is either criminalized or being criminalized.
If you’re in the US though...
First off, for my white readers, are you familiar with the term antiracism? No? I recommend reading Ibram Kendi’s How to Be Antiracist. There’s a lot of racism in queer circles and it needs to stop. The way we solve these issues is through intersectionality, which means listening when black queer folks speak up. Listen. Learn. Improve.
This is important, because I need folks to understand that black queer folks are far more likely to be arrested, or worse. The cops will target black drag queens before they target white ones. They’ll target black trans folks before they target white ones.
Because this country is built on racism, and racism plays a key part in how laws are policed.
I’m not saying be careless if you’re a white queer btw, but recognize the levels of oppression here, work on improving yourself, but also? Use other people’s racism to protect black queer folk.
Weird sentence, I know, but let me explain, as this actually came up during the 2020 protests.
Say you’re at a protest, and the cops show up. The cops will try to arrest, injure, and/or provoke the black people there. But. If you’re white, you can stand inbetween the cop and the black person. If you get a bunch of other white people to join you, you can create a wall protecting multiple black people. And while you and the other white people aren’t immune from being arrested, injured, and/or provoked by the cops, you and other white people are more likely to come away unscathed.
There’s a bunch of situations this is applicable btw. Just don’t get all “white savior” about it, understand there’s a whole lot of history behind why black people might be wary of you and that’s okay, and ensure black people have the space to speak.
Alrighty, long spiel targeted to one particular demographic over. As for other things to be done? Be aware of the bills being passed in your state. Protest what you can. Make plans for escape if you need to.
Remember these things when crafting your escape plan: -Where?: This will effect everything else. A handful of states have passed bills making them trans refuge states, however getting to them may not be easy. You’ll also need to consider potential support structures that are there. -When?: This will depend on factors like what bills are being passed, how likely you are to be effected, and more. If you’re able to, consider making this a “normal” move rather than a last minute escape. -Finances: If you need to leave at the drop of a hat, can you? Are there any places you can cut back to save money? Are there any organizations that can help you? What about jobs? -Ease of escape: If you’re not in a position where you can move over the course of a month or two, this is where you need to really consider what you need and what you can leave behind. Also attempt to tie up as many loose ends as possible, and reduce the amount of objects you own as much as you can. Having a “go bag” can be extremely helpful. -Transportation: Can you drive? Do you have a license? Is getting a license feasible for you? What transportation is needed to get to the safe zone? Depending on the bills passed, you may want to have multiple options at hand. Documents: Linking back to finances and the go bag. What are your important documents? Where are they? What might you need in a new place and/or to claim asylum? Do you have a passport? Do you have a REALID? Currently you can fly domestically without one, but that could change swiftly. Keep everything together in a fireproof lockbox, until you need to throw it in the go bag. Lots of things to consider, which is why it’s important to think of this stuff ahead of time.
But it’s not all about escaping. Are you in a position you can help folks? Great! Look into mutual aid groups, find out what’s needed and how you can best help people.
So. This lengthy post is all to say the situation is bad, and we need to plan like it’s bad. But that doesn’t mean it’s hopeless. There’s places to escape, there can be even more with increased effort. We can work together to ensure that people stay safe, while also protesting.
And while I used the word “strong” in the title, it’s more complicated than that. You don’t have to be a bulwark. You don’t have to be stone. You can cry, and you can show weakness. This is stressful.
WHich is why, I want to be clear, this will not resolve in a short period of time. This may take years. The bills are passing incredibly quickly, but the resulting fallout? That’s the unknown variable.
The human body is not built to be stressed for years.
It’s just not.
That means the best way to remain strong against the tide of hate, is to have moments of joy. Watch silly videos, play silly games with friends, create beautiful art! Cry! Express your stress, and sadness. Then hold that ember of anger close to your chest, letting it motivate you, but not letting it take over until the moment is right.
Be prepared, be aware, but do not let the stress overcome you. On top of the multitude of negative physical effects, it can lead to snapping at those you love, or jumping the gun too soon. It leads to bad decisions at times those can be deadly.
But by having those moments of joy, you will survive. You will survive the hatred. Together, with the rest of us.
