of course Sklonda doesn't like the nickname "the ball". of course she doesn't. because, while now is is an affectionate name from friends who love and respect him, it was a belittling nickname while he was being bullied. like. we know how much Fabian cares for Riz, they're best friends and Fab trusts him implicitly, if Riz asked him to stop he absolutely would immediately
but all Sklonda sees is them using a mean nickname that was used when he was getting racially targeted for being a small creature and thrown in a trashcan

So if you look at the food line up of the goblin camp before going into the temple. There is plenty of food there right , lots of dwarf, lots of pig, but on the fire there is only one special meat on the spit worth mentioning. Rothe ribs. And there is only one person in the entire camp who is canonically noted to enjoy rothe steak, this was a specially made thing just for ONE Drow Commander only.
Which means if you kill them you just rudely interrupted a meal that Minthara hasn’t been able to have since she left the Underdark.

I decided to revisit and draw my Gnomblin (Gnome-Goblin) Rouge/Wizard, Eulogy Jones, as a little kid. But more of his parents really.
Eulogy's father is a gnome called Mortuary 'Mort' Jones. He's a part of the infamous Jones family who are not only the biggest family run funeral service business; but also famous undead hunters. Mort is more of a stay at home member of the family. He prefers staying at home, managing the papers, deal with the family's primary source of finances. He's honestly a very doting father and adores Eulogy, saddling him with a slew of pet names from Lambkins to Green Bean.
Eulogy's mother is another thing. She is a sex worker who lives and works at a Brothel. It was only Mort paying her a rather ludicrous sum to not turn unborn Eulogy into a 'Was/Were' after his paid encounter with her resulted in a positive pregnancy. The second he was born, she dumped Eulogy off on Mort and severed connection as soon as the check cleared. It didn't stop Eulogy as a kid from trying to visit her by paying off the bouncer with pitiful allowance just to sit on his Mother's dressing room floor and watch her get ready. She clearly detests Eulogy and doesn't hesitate to tell him so. Even though she's ravishingly beautiful and rather popular and is most likely going to be the next Brothel Madame-her bedside manners when it comes to Eulogy begs improvement.
Bonus: Eulogy's adoptive daughter, Maggie, learns about his goofy childhood nickname.
Maggie belongs to @jade-wyton

resident inbox goblin is back. what's your character/oc's name? did you create it? if you did, what thought did you put into it? if you didn't, what did the author intend for it to mean? either way, do you have any particular meanings you've appended to the name?
Ray Barlowe! Well, technically Raymond Barlowe ( that’s what it says on his ID / detective badge ), but he always chooses to introduce himself as the former — for reasons I’ll be putting in the tags.
I will admit I didn’t put much thought into his forename whatsoever. I chose Ray for no other reason than me really, really liking it. I didn’t even research its meaning before deciding on it, which is something I always do for new characters nowadays. I think a character’s name can contribute quite a lot to how a character is perceived ( as far as first impressions go, associations, connotations, etc. ), and lend more insight into an author’s idea of the character.
Luckily, despite being born on a whim, it worked out fine in his case. Ray means "protector"; Raymond "wise protector" / "counsel". It ties in nicely with him being a protective character at the core, a shepherd of justice. Even the “wise” and “counsel” parts earn their justification in one of his later verses in which he returns to the LAPD to oversee rookie detectives and give his counsel on cases involving organized crime. Another thing that worked out in my favor is the fact his name coincides with the word ray, as in “beam of light”, which has made some characters nickname him “Sunshine” and I live for the audacity and dissonance of giving this grumpy bastard man such a cute, positive nickname.
As for his last name, I put way more thought into it. Barlowe is a blend of two things: 1) a homage to Philip M.arlowe, the protagonist of various hardboiled crime novels and short stories, which is a genre in which the detective character typically not only combats ( organized ) crime but also a just-as corrupted legal system; and 2) a barlow, a type of pocket knife, the kind his father used in the murder Ray stumbled upon as a child.

listen, it was sweet, it was lovely, they did great with the time crunch they had, but do not think for a second i'm not planning 80k words of filthy complicated court intrigue muck to turn the rue/hob/wuvvy situation into the delicous mess it deserves to be.
