kaede's house lore walkthrough
Tumblr media
I feel ridiculously self-indulgent today so I am going to take y'all on a guided tour of kaede's ingame house (crystal, malboro, mist, ward 19 plot 44, come visit it's nicer in person) with commentary on the decorations and lore behind them.
First off, the exterior!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
before we go any further I would like you all to kindly pretend that the housing lottery DOESN'T hate me, and imagine that this is actually in the firmament. good? good.
due to its location and also some unfortunate exterior choices by my neighbors, the garden is not strictly canon-compliant, but it's close. especially the hot spring and training yard.
Foyer
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
here we have a large open entryway because I ran out of housing slots, with kaede's "war table" where she does all her mission planning (complete with much needed caffeine supply) and her adventuring alcove, aka the place she drops all her gear the moment she steps through the door.
of particular note: the gemseeker's pack (she's a goldsmith) and the flame armoire (a relic from her earliest adventuring days).
Kitchen
Tumblr media Tumblr media
kaede doesn't cook, so the kitchen is pretty small and barebones, with at least half of it given over to alcohol storage. don't worry about it, she's fine. probably.
also from a decorating perspective, the kitchen is built over the stairwell to the unused basement, which I'm very proud of. if we ever get a housing item increase, I'll relocate the kitchen and bathroom to the basement lmao
Dining Room/Bar
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the dining room features the first of our Elezen Man Portraits that kaede has scattered around her home. louisoix saved her parents at carteneau, so she has an enormous respect for the man. and overlooking the bar, on a nice warm hearth, is her portrait of Haurchefant. she wanted him to be somewhere welcoming.
of particular note: the food on the table was chosen to be lore compliant for kaede's favorite dinner guests -- the gourmet supper for herself, the high house supper set (what was served during the dinner date in 3.4) for aymeric, the alpine supper set (specifically mentioned as being special occasion food for rural ishgardians) for estinien, and the oriental supper for her nagxian co-wol, marz.
the servants are lore-compliant but they're not usually there -- they just come in every now and again to check on the place when kaede's gone.
Workshop
Tumblr media Tumblr media
on the other side of the house is her crafting workshop! half of it is dedicated to her primary vocation, goldsmithing, while the other half is for less delicate metalwork (blacksmith and armorer). she also prefers to make her tea in here rather than venturing into her kitchen.
of particular note: the crystals on the floor are meant to be crafting crystals, and are wind/ice/fire/earth to correspond with the crystals required for the three crafting classes featured. the portrait of estinien is of...dubious lore-compliance. if it's actually there, she definitely just did it to annoy him. or because marz bought it and needed somewhere to store it. mostly it's there because I personally love estinien.
Stairwell/2nd Floor Hall
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
you might recognize that stairwell from basically any low effort gpose I've ever taken. yes I like window walls. anyway. the second floor hall is basically a trophy room -- kaede recently started keeping mementos from difficult/important battles. hydaelyn's crystal is given particular honor, while emet-selch and zodiark are banished to the far side of the stairwell so she doesn't have to think about them. it also features her paladin armor collection.
the house borel wallpaper is a little on the nose but I know what I'm about okay
Bedroom
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
do you know how hard it is to get a nice blue bed in this game? it's so annoying. the headboard is the footboard of an oasis canopy bed clipped into the wall, in case you were curious. I also keep waiting for them to put in a properly blue rug. anyway. also included is her letter-writing desk, and her vanity.
of particular note: the aymeric portrait is canon, the armor on the stand is the house fortemps chainmail she was given for the grand melee, the music boxes are prototypes for the ones she made for her clients in the GSM 60 quests. also she has a house borel teaset on her vanity next to her absurd collection of makeup and lotions.
Sitting Room/Library
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
perhaps in the hallway you noticed that the hydaelyn trophy's wings were oddly missing. that's because they are being used to frame the portrait of minfilia, who kaede cared for very much. you might also note my use of curtains instead of doors -- that's honestly just because enclosing rooms in this game makes me terribly claustrophobic. I don't think kaede is actually anti-door.
Drawing Room
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
one of my very favorite parts of the whole house, this room is given over to kaede's artistic pursuits -- namely, her love of piano, and her attempt at branching out from sketching into paint. she feels a great responsibility to depict the landscapes from her travels that most people will never see, and all the paintings on the wall in here are her work.
the "no entry" door goes to her bathroom, which is actually built in my FC chambers, since I ran out of space in my house. I was going to include it here, but tumblr is rude and only allows 30 images per post, sooo... some other time, maybe.
if you made it to the end of this, bless you for caring about my lizard and her lore <3

What's up, gamers. Every so often, I get asked for MK comic recommendations. I'll include links to a couple of really good reading guides from the subreddit (that I had Zero hand in making) and toss my two cents below. Not that it'll buy you anything.
TL;DR: See reddit below, be sure to check out the Excel master list of appearances. Most of the quality runs has been printed in omnibus, Epic Collection, trade paperback, Marvel app. You know.
Tumblr media
If those links don't work, go to the r/MoonKnight subreddit and check out the Reading Suggestions and Collected Editions in the menu.
Tumblr media
Below the cut, I give a sort of non-spoiler walkthrough and talk about what's in print .
Cory's Reading List [Edited 2 April 2024]
I read everything on the below list. I have my opinions. If I tell you not to read something, it's because I don't like it. But I'm also some Jewish singlet/non DID/OSDD guy on the internet.
Here are some articles by a system who is a fan of the Moon Knight System.
Tumblr media
Okay, finally, the list
Werewolf by Night (1975) #32 and #33. First appearance.
Marvel Spotlight #29
Hulk Magazine #13-15, #17-18, #20-21 (they're the backup stories, so if you're 'online' search and read by Hulk, scroll halfway through the issue)
Marvel Preview #21
Moon Knight (1980) #1-38 written mostly by Moench and drawn by Sienkiewicz. "But Cory, why are we reading all these old comics?" Because while different words are used now, the writers of the first run do really well at making Marc, Steven, and Jake a system. Iconic rogues are introduced. Marc's first backstory in #37 and #38 is the perfect backstory, imo.
Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu (1985) fucking sucks but #6 is great. So, read #1 so you know what the plot is and #6.
West Coast Avengers (1985-1994) goes here. The first time Khonshu is more than just some weird statue. Also includes Tigra and Marc kissing. MK is in issues #21-41, which is collected in 3 different Epic Collections and at least one is out of print because someone in Marvel hates me specifically /jk. The Epic Collections are titled: Lost in Space-Time, Tales To Astonish (out of print), and Vision Quest.
Marc Spector: Moon Knight (1989-1994) is 60 issues and it gets borderline unreadable about halfway through. That being said, the first half has some great stuff. So honestly, read a few stories from it, get tired, and know he dies at the end. Then read
Resurrection Wars and High Strangers - two separate mini-series by Moench because they killed his boy. Walks back some of the MS: MK things to the 1980s days.
MK (2006) is 30 grimdark issues. The first 13 issues are usually all I can stomach. Marc gets injured, kills Bushman in an extremely violent way, and has substance use issues. He also is extremely violent, lashes out/pushes away his original cast. The run is hella ableist.
Vengeance of the Moon Knight (2009): The most Marc acting Jake Lockley in existence, coming back from a stint in Mexico at the end of MK 2006. Some retcons. It's. Fine.
Secret Avengers (2010) #19 is one of the only issues with decent MK. First sighting of Mr. Knight. Too bad it's by Ellis. The rest of Secret Avengers is ableist or he's not really there.
Shadowland: MK is an event tie-in. Does some retcons I like but also our favorite can't stay dead brother is back.
MK (2011) by Bendis. Don't read it. Steven and Jake are replaced by Cap, Wolverine, and Spider-Man. Why isn't addressed.
MK (2014): Marc's back from LA. Introducing Mr. Knight. As far as plot goes, it's mid. As far as cool art goes, it fucks. Do you like black and white suit? Marc punching ghosts? Bird skull Khonshu? Tell Shavley thanks. This run is mostly out of print on account that the first writer, Ellis, sexually coerced people.
MK (2016): Lemire and Smallwood. The dream team. It's set in the System's inner world. If you can only get one run in print, this is the one I recommend.
MK (2017): The Bemis run. Websites attach it to the Lemire run. It's not. Stop reading 2016 when issue #188 appears. It's shit.
Avengers (2018) #31-38. Age of Khonshu only is relevant for what Marc does now and his mental state.
MK (2021) wrapped at 30 issues in December 2023.❤️ MacKay gets it right the vast majority of the time. The art (inks and colors) are some of my favorite work around Sienkiewicz and Shavley. Like Lemire, MacKay ties in classic points with new directions.
Vengeance of the Moon Knight (2024) is the current ongoing from January 2024-???. Same creative team as Moon Knight (2021).
Tumblr media
Print Options:
Omnibus is a heavy, oversized, hardback and contains a lot more issues. They also have some weird printing smell and texture. Epic Collections are standard sized, softback that has more issues than a Trade Paper Back (TPB). Make sure you read the back of the volumes so you don't buy repeats. Weigh pros and cons. What do you value/can afford? And the physical weight of the omnibus.
As of Spring 2024, there are currently 5 omnibuses with another on the way.
MK OMNIBUS: Volume 1 (1975-1980) - MK's first appearance, the backups from Hulk magazine, half of the 1980 run.
MK OMNIBUS: Volume 2 (1980-1985) - other half of 1980 run, MK: Fist of Khonshu
MS: MK OMNIBUS Volume 1 (1989-1994) - #1-34 (out of the 60 issues), some Spidey, some Castle.
MS: MK OMNIBUS Volume 2 (1989-1994) - #35-60 and both of Moench's mini-series (Resurrection Wars and High Strangers) and 3 issues of Black Panther. Do I recommend this omnibus? Not really. After the first story in this omni (and even it is stretching it), it really does fall off that cliff. But, I got it because I wanted it on my shelf. Moench and Black Panther stuff helps soften the sting.
MK by Huston, Benson, & Hurwitz OMNIBUS (2006-2010) - all 30 issues of 2006's run and Vengeance of MK, and Shadowland.
Additionally, MacKay's 2021-2023 run will be published as an omnibus in October 2024. I'm only surprised it's happening this soon and without Vengeance but...We'll see what happens in Vengeance eh?
There are currently 6 (going on 7) Epic Collections for the pre-ehhhh... 2006 stuff. Everything after 2006 and Vengeance 2009 is far more accessible in Trades (paper or hardback) or single-volume for certain runs.
MK Epic Collection: Bad Moon Rising - early adventures pre-1980 and the first 4 issues of 1980.
MK: Countdown to Dark: the Hulk backups and Marvel Preview #21.
MK Epic Collection: Shadows of the Moon - MK (1980) #5-23
MK Epic Collection: Final Rest - MK (1980) #24-38
MK Epic Collection: Butcher's Moon - tie-ins, solo issues, and MS: MK (1989) #1-7.
MK Epic Collection: Death Watch. Collects MS: MK #39-51, Divided we fall, and some other tie-ins. Yes, we do jump ahead from #7 to #39.
MK Epic Collection: The Trial of Marc Spector fills in some of Death Watch's gap with MS: MK #8-25 and that Punisher annual. It comes out in October 2024 as well.
For Lemire's run, there is a one volume softcover collection called Moon Knight by Lemire & Smallwood: The Complete Collection. This is the one you want.
Happy reading!!

[Hi! For... god, years now, I've had this massive Spreadsheet (yes, it requires a capital letter) of retro JRPGs I've wanted to (1) play my way through and (2) blog about. (1) was fairly easy after I stopped trying to play on original hardware, but I found it surprisingly hard to do (2) without it devouring all my free time. So instead of a dedicated blog, I'm just gonna do these short summary posts here whenever I beat a game. There's two in the backlog right now, starting with...]
What it is: The Tower of Druaga (ドルアーガの塔 Druaga no Tō) for Famicom, released on the 6th of August, 1985, developed and published by Namco. Based on the arcade game of the same name from June 1984, also published by Namco and chiefly designed by Masanobu Endō, creator of early scrolling shmup Xevious, it's the first game in - the Spreadsheet as a whole, yes, but also the Babylonian Castle Saga, a collection of (for the most part) vaguely RPG-like action games that tell the story of a prince named Gil, his lover, the priestess Ki, and their quest to restore peace to their loosely-Babylonian fantasy world.
What it's about:
Tumblr media
I think the attract screen puts it pretty well! There's some more wrinkles to the backstory, which I mostly got from a strategy guide released at the time - an invading empire, the goddess Ishtar, the precise mechanics behind why, exactly, this is our heroes' last chance to save their kingdom - quite a lot for a mid-80s arcade game. It's pretty thin by RPG standards, but as a setup, it works, and I found it surprisingly engrossing.
How it plays: How do you make an RPG work in the arcade? Apparently, you turn it into a Pac-Man clone. Okay, that's a little flippant; Druaga may be a maze chase game, but there's a lot more going on in it than in most arcade games of its day. On the surface, it's a game about running around mazes, killing monsters, and grabbing keys to get to the next floor, until you defeat Druaga and rescue Ki on the top of the tower. All you have to do is fight your way to the sixtieth floor, right?
In any other arcade game of its era, maybe, but not here. Almost every floor of the tower also contains a hidden treasure that can only be revealed by performing a specific action unique to that floor. The higher Gil gets up the tower, the more he'll need them, from books to reveal the layout of darkened floors to a series of items that turn the increasingly common dragons from the most dangerous enemies in the game to an easily ignored afterthought. Pretty much every useful item in the game (there's several duds and a few traps) is needed to defeat Druaga, so knowing where they are and how to reveal them is absolutely key to beating the game.
The catch - because of course there's a catch - is that neither the treasures' locations nor their revealing methods are signposted at all. Every single one has to be trial-and-error brute-forced out, and they can get pretty arcane - entering a fairly long cheat code, defeating several enemies in a specific order, walking over a particular tile in a particular direction... The intent was for arcade-goers to 'solve' the game together, figuring out all its secrets over the course of weeks or months, but when you don't have a friendly mid-80s Japanese arcade crowd to help you out all you're left with is a mountain of guesswork. Or a walkthrough, which has been a standard bonus feature on its Namco Museum rereleases since the mid-90s.
What I thought: I had a lot of fun with this game! Admittedly I was using a walkthrough (in Japanese, because part of the purpose of the Spreadsheet is to practice my language skills) to bypass about half of the Intended Experience™, but the other half, the straightforward arcade action Pac-Man-with-a-sword gameplay loop, was engaging enough in its own right. Gil controls really well, you never feel like you're fighting the programming instead of the monsters, you can always tell why you died even if the game took a cheap shot, and its insanely generous continue system lets you jump right back to the level you were on with all your items intact when you run out of lives. It's still tough, but it's tough in a fair way, breaking up its fast-paced action into discrete digestible chunks with a chance to breathe between every floor. And frankly, though it is 1980s quarter-muncher hard, I've played indie puzzle platformers that were much worse.
And I do think it succeeds at distilling the RPG into an arcade format, though the result is only an RPG by the loosest possible definition. Despite the lack of numbers and exploration (well, in a sense) there's a distinct feeling of progression to Gil's journey up the tower, a kind of character growth uncommon to - basically any genre outside the RPG in 1984. As Gil collects treasures, he grows faster, stronger, better at navigating the labyrinths, to the point that, despite the increasingly tougher challenges the game throws at you, it almost gets easier the further along you get. With the continue system I mentioned, you can even jump back to floors you've already cleared (mostly to replace a particular item that occasionally breaks) and breeze through the monsters that once gave you so much trouble. It's this kind of thoughtful design that makes me really appreciate Druaga, more than I honestly expected to when I first booted it up. Give it a try, it's pretty good!

Star Ocean: the Second Story Secret Ending / Group Ending / Composite Ending / Ending 86 Strategy Guide & Walkthrough ! Happy 25th Anniversary Star Ocean 2!
I wanted to do something sort of special before Star Ocean: the Second Story R releases in November. After playing this game since release you sort of run out of things to do. Although I started off pulling my hair out, I am developing a strategy to get the special, final ending, also known as #86 / Secret / Group ending.
Tumblr media
When a guide takes 3 guides, 2 copies of the game, a new controller, a new composite cable, 3 websites, and 4 days... I’m prepared!
I started off by developing a chart after deciding on the party I want to attempt this with. I immediately got rid of Dias, because in the PS1 he has no PAs and therefore his relationship requirements would be more strict. I am playing the PS1 version mostly for personal preference but also because I have no easy way to play the PSP version. If you want to play that one, this guide might be applicable, especially with Welch and the new PAs all around that were added (including Dias). Another thing to keep in mind is that the grouping doesn’t really matter for the ending, you just need 8 characters.
After looking on a debug thread and 2 Japanese sites, I finally remembered I have the Japanese “Final Guide” and looked at that (with Google Translate, but still).
For my first attempt, I am focusing on a Claude playthrough. According to the Final Guide, you can play as Claude or Rena for the ending.
Here is the party I decided on: Claude, Rena, Celine, Ashton, Precis, Leon. According to the Final Guide you only need 6 or more to get the ending (in fact, it recommends that 6 be used for easier aquisition). These characters tend to have PAs with one another or a lot of PAs. Noel and Chisato are added to round the group to 8. Opera and Ernest were skipped because I feel Ernest has few PAs. Opera without Ernest is very difficult to override RP.
Further down the line I will post my chart which includes the boss events, joining events, and PAs that effect levels. Most of this information I gathered from GameFAQs thanks to a debugger, but they stopped around Disc 2 and even then the information is questionable except for what he could confirm with accessing FP/RP debugging.
The 100 battles = 1 point is a myth as far as I’m aware. I think how this myth came about is when party members die enough and you revive them or enough items are used (ie: Blueberry, Blackberry), I feel there is something there that may increase levels... This is speculation, though.
For information on pickpocket and reverse side, please click here and read the thread notes. I didn’t level for the Bandit’s Gloves, steal from Philia, or steal from the old man in Mars, since stealing comes with a huge risk in this sort of playthrough. I may risk the Bunny Shoes, though...
Claude and Rena won’t be included as they almost always have “30″ (game maxes at 15/16, but there is opportunity twice over for them) FP/RP by the end of the game. I didn’t need an extra tally to take care of. Just avoid PAs that reduce their relationships.
I am playing on PS2 hardware (partially due to the credits glitch on PS3). Therefore I have no way to check the levels 100%. Someone is welcome to try on emulator with debug using this guide (but please link it once I update this page). I will back up this post and add additional notes in my own text file, just in case. The only relations I can check 100% are Claude w/other members during Fun City.
The ending requires all characters 8 RP and FP for one another or higher (Final Guide). I will be shooting for 11, to make sure it triggers.
When I researched Blue Sphere, I stumbled upon a Japanese site that had a lot of information. I decided to check it out for this case as well. Along the way, I did find a calculation on the Star Ocean Wiki that says:
Affinity Points = RP x 2 + FP
The Japanese website also says (according to Google translate):
The conditions are that the party has 6 or more people, and that everyone has     8 or more affection value* and friendship value for each other .
*affection value in this translation is romance points
This confirms what the Final Guide says. 6 or more characters and equal FP/RP between all of them. I’m pretty sure reaching the end and using all books on each other doesn’t work (namely, because the 4 characters in the final fight get points, therefore, making them higher than the others... it seems the ultimate strategy would be to use books on everyone at the end except the characters you plan to use for the final battle, who would need an exact FP/RP of 7 respectively according to gender... I may try this in another attempt. Perhaps it would be possible to have a save before the Fields’ bosses and get everyone to 9... but raising the opposite values that aren’t raised by bosses becomes a problem.)
Please read my experience / walkthrough under the cut. Well, let’s start this guide! (I can confirm, somehow or another, it worked for me! If you’re after the ending, give it a shot! Let me know your results too!)
I started from a previous save that had Claude (with Dexterity, although I won’t be needing it yet), Rena, and Celine (start of Cross Cave).
Claude/Rena: N/A
Claude/Celine: 5 RP, 5 FP
Rena/Claude: N/A
Rena/Celine: 5 FP, 5 RP
Celine/Claude: 5 RP, 5 FP
Celine/Rena: 5 FP, 5 RP
I played through the cave including the bat bosses. Celine joins.
Note: Character join events Recruited Character Gender gains FP, Opposite gender gains RP. For example:
Ashton would give +1 FP to all relationships involving him and a male. +1 RP to all relationships and him involving a female. Relationships like Claude/Rena are not affected.
Note: Starting FP/RP levels are confirmed for everyone in the US and JP Official Guides.
Values should be:
Claude/Rena: N/A
Claude/Celine: 6 RP, 5 FP
Rena/Claude: N/A
Rena/Celine: 6 FP, 5 RP
Celine/Claude: 6 RP, 5 FP
Celine/Rena: 6 FP, 5 RP
Next I will play until Ashton.
Note: If you want Michief or to fight Unlimited Indalecio, don’t forget the PA in Clik. I do NOT recommend doing ANY stealing outside the 1 pair of bunny shoes later because the effect is so random. (See my notes/link above about Pickpocketing.) The values will be the following to start:
Claude/Rena: N/A
Claude/Celine: 6 RP, 5 FP
Claude/Ashton: 5 FP, 4 RP
Rena/Claude: N/A
Rena/Celine: 6 FP, 5 RP
Rena/Ashton: 5 RP, 5 FP
Celine/Claude: 6 RP, 5 FP
Celine/Rena: 6 FP, 5 RP
Celine/Ashton: 4 RP, 5 FP
Ashton/Claude: 4 FP, 4 RP
Ashton/Rena: 4 RP, 5 FP
Ashton/Celine: 4 RP, 4 FP
To gain some levels, we will play through Ashton’s event until XINE. We will wait to complete Ashton’s event until recruiting Precis for an extra boost to her (Note: I haven’t tested this... I waited until I had Leon in my party and could go to Cross after the ruins and his join event DOES NOT activate... You MUST do it before the Hoffman Ruins like the official guides say. I had to go back before the ruins and complete this, because otherwise you miss an Ashton PA that boosts FP for all in addition to his join event!)
The next section will involve playing until Precis joins, PAs, and our first boss fight to increase affinity. Note: Specific boss fights listed in this guide are confirmed to increase relationship. How so wasn’t listed officially, but the Final Guide does confirm the bosses. The debugger says that it works like join events and +1 FP to same gender, +1 RP to opposite gender.
Claude/Rena: N/A
Claude/Celine: 6 RP, 5 FP
Claude/Ashton: 5 FP, 4 RP
Claude/Precis: 5 RP, 5 FP
Rena/Claude: N/A
Rena/Celine: 6 FP, 5 RP
Rena/Ashton: 5 RP, 5 FP
Rena/Precis: 5 FP, 4 RP
Celine/Claude: 6 RP, 5 FP
Celine/Rena: 6 FP, 5 RP
Celine/Ashton: 4 RP, 5 FP
Celine/Precis: 4 FP, 3 RP
Ashton/Claude: 4 FP, 4 RP
Ashton/Rena: 4 RP, 5 FP
Ashton/Celine: 4 RP, 4 FP
Ashton/Precis: 7 RP, 5 FP
Travel to Lacour, visit Linga, perform PA to recruit Precis. All FP +1 (same gender) and RP +1 (opposite gender) are added.
Precis joins (PA):
Claude/Rena: N/A
Claude/Celine: 6 RP, 5 FP
Claude/Ashton: 5 FP, 4 RP
Claude/Precis: 6 RP, 5 FP
Rena/Claude: N/A
Rena/Celine: 6 FP, 5 RP
Rena/Ashton: 5 RP, 5 FP
Rena/Precis: 6 FP, 4 RP
Celine/Claude: 6 RP, 5 FP
Celine/Rena: 6 FP, 5 RP
Celine/Ashton: 4 RP, 5 FP
Celine/Precis: 5 FP, 3 RP
Ashton/Claude: 4 FP, 4 RP
Ashton/Rena: 4 RP, 5 FP
Ashton/Celine: 4 RP, 4 FP
Ashton/Precis: 8 RP, 5 FP
Precis/Claude: 6 RP, 7 FP (Start) should change to 7 RP, 7 FP
Precis/Rena: 7 FP, 6 RP (Start) should change to 8 FP, 6 RP
Precis/Celine: 6 FP, 5 RP (Start) should change to 7 FP, 5 RP
Precis/Ashton: 5 RP, 5 FP (Start) should change to 6 RP, 5 FP
Since we’ve reached Lacour, you may want to consider learning Publishing. This is why we are keeping track of values, because RP and FP books reset the values to 8, no matter how high/low they are to begin. I purchased the skill set with Writing and Machinery in Hilton. You should already have maxed out Preserverance, so this shouldn’t be difficult if you saved all your SP from Ashton’s quest. We can learn Orchestra but it is unusable until Disc 2 / Part 2, because of the lack of instruments to purchase... We can wait and increase other needed skills for now. While you can make the romance books, I don’t recommend it without Orchestra, and since we can’t use that, it’s going to have to wait. So, for now, we will only increase F values with the common books for each character. Make 5 of each (remember, Leon) and if you want, make an extra totalling 6 of each book so you can publish them ASAP on disc 2 (this is a great way to get cash).
Also it would figure since I haven’t turned on my PS2 in three years that everything starts breaking down. Over the years of downsizing, I had only 1 composite cable and controller... controller has left stick drift and w/vibration on it randomly cuts out the analog ;___; Now my composite cable is giving flashy feedback and has corosion... Hopefully I get that fixed by the evening (thank God for Game XChange).
By the way, if you’re having trouble on funds, spend some time leveling in the Sanctuary. If you started the quest for the herb, just don’t venture too far back. You may also not want to over level for Leon. It couldn’t hurt to learn the Identify All! super specialty (Identify + Metalwork) to help ease the Fol cost at shops, either.
Precis joins (PA):
Claude/Rena: N/A
Claude/Celine: 6 RP, 5 FP
Claude/Ashton: 5 FP, 4 RP
Claude/Precis: 6 RP, 5 FP
Rena/Claude: N/A
Rena/Celine: 6 FP, 5 RP
Rena/Ashton: 5 RP, 5 FP
Rena/Precis: 6 FP, 4 RP
Celine/Claude: 6 RP, 5 FP
Celine/Rena: 6 FP, 5 RP
Celine/Ashton: 4 RP, 5 FP
Celine/Precis: 5 FP, 3 RP
Ashton/Claude: 4 FP, 4 RP
Ashton/Rena: 4 RP, 5 FP
Ashton/Celine: 4 RP, 4 FP
Ashton/Precis: 8 RP, 5 FP
Precis/Claude: 7 RP, 7 FP
Precis/Rena: 8 FP, 6 RP
Precis/Celine: 7 FP, 5 RP
Precis/Ashton: 6 RP, 5 FP
After all Friends books are used:
Claude/Rena: N/A
Claude/Celine: 6 RP, 8 FP
Claude/Ashton: 8 FP, 4 RP

Complete PAs before the tournament. Some of them are unavailable after the tournament is done and you can’t leave during the tournament. The tournament must be completed before starting the quest for the herb in Linga. Here are a list of the ones I managed / chose to do. It is possible I missed a few. The original US guide doesn’t list the FP/RP changes, so I have to match and go with the PSP version’s guide.

Once you move onto the Sanctuary of Linga the boss ( Visseyer, this one is optional) increases the same as join events except for participating battlers only. This must be calculated carefully. We can choose between Claude, Rena, Celine, Ashton, or Precis. Consider which characters have a lot of PAs to increase points, like Ashton and Precis or already have high points including Claude and Rena. If you’re playing as Rena, you may consider forgoing her for another since she will have other PAs with characters and more opportunity to raise affection than someone else.
I decided on: Claude, Ashton, Celine, Rena (Claude and Ashton’s friendship was slightly damaged and Ashton/Celine Celine/Ashton Ashton/Rena values are low.) After this boss we are close to getting most characters at 10 or higher!

I highly recommend you teach someone with Love for Animals the Survival skill and buy a full stock of pet food (purchase in Linga) from now on. I don’t know how but I got through the dungeon with 3 revives and like... 10 blackberries, including the boss on my first save in making this guide. I taught Precis the specialty but sadly I forgot Pet Food... This skill is invaluable going forward so make sure to have someone learn it ASAP. (Luckily when I had to redo the ruins I went in extra stocked... see details below.)
You may also want to get Aloe Jam (Linga, restores MP), Root Beer (Hilton, restores MP). These will be useful going forward as you’ll be flying through MP more often. I also got Leon some Suede Boots, a Reference Book, and an Amber Robe from Hilton and Linga. In general, if you have been ignoring weapons/armor you could upgrade now (especially if you struggle in the ruins).
Leon joins us at Lacour Castle’s lab, so he cannot benefit from books with his join bonus. He is included in the bonus, so let’s see what the values are now. (Leon’s values include his starting FP/RP +1)

Note: Black screen of death in Linga and now Hoffman ruins... Man, I never had it happen this often on PS3. I did get a new controller, so that’s some problems fixed. I will try one of my two other extra copies of the disc just to see if that somehow helps but I’m probably just having bad luck!
Note: After reloading to a previous save for Ashton’s quest... got black screen’d in the Salva Drift. -.-; I’m starting to wonder if it’s an issue with the PS2 Slim / PS2′s age that’s making it occur more often...
Don’t forget to max out Leon’s Perseverance before anything else. You should also take a little time to make 5 FP books and use the remaining FP books from the others on him to bring his values up (I forgot... and I can’t be bothered to go through the Ruins a third time, so I will use them later.)
Hoffman Ruins ( Harfainx/Phalanx) Bonus. Again this must be considered carefully. This fight is easier with Celine’s Thunderstorm, so she may be a given. Two fighters is recommended so we really can’t use Leon (this is subjective, if you want to). Asthon, Precis, Celine, Rena seem the way to go. If you aren’t using Claude often, you may change him out for one of the other characters, although this gives Ashton/Celine and Precis/Celine time to bond.
I raised Celine to level 31 so she had Thunderstorm for the boss (Leon joins at level 30 so I switched him out for the random battles). You might want to consider Flare Rings/Ruby/Star Rubies for random battles and Crystals for the boss fight as accessories to protect against the Salamanders and Phalanx’s respectively.
I want to say the values seem to be tracking... Before I had to reload my save, Celine died in a random battle and Claude cried her name. I’ll try to make note of any of these occuring, but I think on Disc 2 they will be pretty numerous.  I haven’t had any deaths in the boss fights and I know in SO1 that would cancel out the bonus for the dead character, so avoid letting anyone die in the special boss fights. If you’ve had this happen, you may want to adjust your numbers just in case.

Play through the game until you reach Eluria Tower and defeat Shin. At the top of the tower you’ll meet the 10 Wise Men and fight Berle. This fight, like the first Shin fight, is one of survival. Make sure no one dies and outlast the hidden timer! This effects values and if my previous suspicions are right, don’t risk anyone being dead at the end of the fight. I set my fighters and mage to avoid and usually control one of them to keep Berle distracted. Have Rena still set to heal. Because I actually had to consider values, I picked these characters for the battle: Ashton, Precis, Leon, Rena.

DISC 2 / PART 2 / ENERGY NEDE
I want to reiterate this as you will soon be learning Orchestra to help with item creation. This is particularly helpful if you plan this ending with Noel (you can use books on him before he’s recruited and go back to the city for supplies from his house via the teleporter if you need to). Also purchasing a Beret and having the character you’re using to make books equip it will help. Try to have Orchestra at least around Level 8. Finally, move the current character to the top of your roster for slightly quicker crafting. Make sure to save frequently and use Identify All to lessen the cost. You may want to gain some levels around North/Central City and put the skills into Music and Writing. If you can afford to or make them, get the support accessories (like the Writing Software you should have obtained in Eluria Tower).
Note: When you do learn Orchestra DO NOT max everyone’s Music Talent (especially Claude!!) if you plan to do any post-game or extra stuff, as the Music level of a character, must be lower level.

Sell any extra books (I had 20 of each FP book, so I sold 15 of them in case I want to lower values later) to the Central City Publishing House. I think I made something like 130k before royalities (we will go back before the Field of Power and nab that sweet Fol for late-game weapons/armor)
(If you’re using Chisato, don’t forget her recruitment requirements before proceeding.) Defeat the Psynard (no bonus points), other bosses, ect. and continue with the story up until the Field of Courage or Power. You may want to check any PAs that open/close during the time (IIRC, many are open pretty much indefinitely or only open after late game story events).
I’ve been sort of tallying the points, estimating what they would get participating in boss fights, and well... A lot of characters will still only have an FP/RP of 8 by the end, just because there aren’t PAs for them. My strategy going forward will be to use them in all the outside battles and hope something there raises it. Perhaps the ending requires 10 + same-gender points and 8 opposite gender points? I’ll try my best to figure it out, as I see no way to raise certain characters’ missing values (For example, Rena/Precis and Precis/Rena will be stuck at 8 RP... there is no way to raise it other than books at this point...) There are a few Second Evolution PAs that raise some characters further (like Ashton/Leon), but alas these are additions only to that version... I will most likely use a party of Ashton, Precis, Leon, and Rena going forward for random battles in some attempt to raise them...
I used Precis, Ashton, Leon, and Rena for the Cavern of Red Crystal.

While tackling the Field of Intelligence, I used Ashton, Celine, Leon, and Rena. There aren’t any changes but figured I would list it for anyone curious.

The jump in difficulty grows here, so now is a good time to make the best weapons and armor you can. I hope you’ve been putting SP into Blacksmith, Alchemy, and Customize. I won’t list the details here, but make sure everyone has the best weapons/armor (remember to use Sharp Edge and make the Eternal Sphere) and good accessories like Fairy Rings, Star Guards, ect. before moving on. I usually train in the Field of Power. If you have Practice, even better. Save frequently and gain some levels and skills before moving on.
Tumblr media
Ronixis, you’re ancient! (It’s okay, just makes me love you more.)
Tumblr media
Star Ocean 2 mentions the Lezonian’s/Rezonian’s a lot... Having just platinumed First Departure R, I was suprised to see them talked about. That third party can’t give Ronixis a break...!
I trained with alternating characters. Claude, Precis, Leon, and Rena were who I used on the mountain itself.
I decided to go with Claude, Precis, Leon, and Rena, since Leon needs at least one more point with everyone.
Field of Power Guardian value changes:

For the final field, although no points are given, it does give you some indication (similar to L’Aqua) of who your protagonist ends up with. I used Precis, Ashton, Leon, and Rena for the fight. Precis was my hostage (I couldn’t find any info, even in the guides on this; it seems random. I’ve heard its lowest affection level, which sort of tracks. It could have been either Precis or Ashton according to my numbers so far. However, what I didn’t expect was Celine to be chosen for the scene after the fight. This is more-than-likely-but-not-confirmed to be your highest affection character... I was really shocked it wasn’t Rena and I’m kind of worried I wasn’t keeping track of their points lol... This also explains why when I had Celine die during training that Claude was enraged lol I haven’t noticed too many other cries (I get Ashton/Precis a lot... ugh) but I HAVE had more “rare calls” than any other playthrough... I wonder if affection levels increase the chance of these. For example, Rena’s call for Fairy Heal is just Fairy Heal, but in rare instances she gets annoyed and calls “Please!” (as if saying, will you bastards stop getting hit?! lol)
Technically during writing this section it is 7.30.23 and I am kinda bummed I missed the anniversary by one day,  but I had to visit my mother and help her paint her living room... In Texas and summer, that’s a feat. Forgive me, Star Ocean gods, I had other duties ;__;
Just making a quick note I can’t fit anywhere, but if you’re struggling with the Barker, use Metalwork with a Star Ruby to make Protection Rings. Yes, they have a chance of breaking, but they can really turn this battle around when in effect by taking no damage/healing from Lost Patience... I didn’t record who I used for the fight, but it was likely Claude, Ashton, Leon, and Rena.
I performed the Private Action for Precis to learn Holo-Hologram for the first time. Very strange! There are no affection changes I’m aware of...
Tumblr media
So, this playthrough has gone from ‘obtain the secret ending’ to ‘this is truly a commerative playthrough for the anniversary’. My bad RNG continued. After 3 hours and almost 60 Bunny Race tickets, I only got one set of Bunny Shoes, 50k Fol, and 3 Fairy Rings. (I highly rec getting the 50k Fol if you’re going for a full set as it easily covers the cost. Otherwise, you can wait until the Cave of Trials opens...) But wait, that’s not all!
Tumblr media
I will go back and add some tidbits of screenshots I took and my wife had to get video of the following, but during the Marsillo fight, I had a wierd glitchy screen beforehand and during battle, without Leon in my active party, Precis had Leon’s voice lines when being hit or using her KMs... Specifically his Ouch!, Word of Death, and Ice Needles. Very strange, as in the fight with Shigeo, it was all normal...
Video here
Unless you want to use two mages in the last fight, this is your best bet to get Celine and Leon’s levels up in the same fight. I used Precis, Celine, Leon, and Rena. Leon and Celine’s levels are still low, but we can fix that with a PA in Fun City soon.

There are two PAs in Armlock we can do, one with Ashton and one with Leon. There is also a PA in Fun City you can use to increase Leon’s romance with any of the girls (I’m gonna pick Celine for this experiment) The other PAs availible are either unneeded or can only be triggered later. As I said before, there’s even more PAs if you’re playing Second Evolution.

I couldn’t trigger the PA with Leon because it wanted me to trigger the one with Rena in the fortune teller’s room (yes, I did the cooking competition)... I didn’t want to raise affection anymore at the time between them or risk lowering it (there is no nuetral option), so I avoided both and hoped for the best.
From here, we go to the L’Aqua scene. This only shows who Claude’s highest value is with and most likely it will be Rena, so in aiming for an equal value playthrough, it’s pretty useless. Suprise, suprise, after the Space Time Lab, they had the highest affection and spoiler, I got their ending. That scene seems to add a lot of points...
For reference, I used the following to climb the tower: Claude, Ashton, Celine, and Rena. I used them for the first fight with the 3 Wisemen, then switched Celine out for Leon for Vesper / Decus.
Cyril: I think I used Ashton, Precis, Leon, and Rena...
Notes: Nothing else really notable, especially because I have the dungeon path memorized, I didn’t have to battle often. I got more rare voice clips, though!
Only thing left to do at this point is reach Indalecio and battle him. This increases the values as shown below. I used Ashton, Precis, Celine, and Rena.

Ending Results:
The basic endings were... Leon alone, Celine alone, Precis/Ashton (Ashton is at Precis’ house trying to run away from her for trying to remove the dragons) and Claude/Rena (Rena is going to have a baby ending)
I was so nervous... but I waited until after the beautiful credits and I got the Composite Ending!

Conclusion/Final Thoughts:
When I started this blog of my adventure, I didn’t intend to succeed or celebrate on the same day as the 25th anniversary... but I did!
I was in tears when the secret ending popped up...! Also, it was the first time I have seen the ending CGI in a long time, which also brought tears to my eyes... The melancholy of wondering what it must be like for the characters after their journey and what it must be like seeing the ending for the first time...! I really felt I got to experience that again! My bff was anxiously waiting for me to complete the game again and my wife cheered me on the whole way! <3
I got to hear so many rare voice clips, experience wierd glitches, and I had the worst RNG I’ve ever experienced playing this; all in this playthrough! I feel like Tria was testing me! (Or perhaps, for a veteran like me who has logged 1000+ hours of my life into the game, they really wanted this to be unique!)
In anticipation of the release of Star Ocean: the Second Story R, I am glad to say I finally got to accomplish my dream of obtaining this ending, playing on original hardware, and experiencing new things even two decades later... that’s part of what makes this game the greatest of all time and why it is my favorite and will always be special to me. I often imagine I’ll be playing this, the original game, when I am 80 years old and senile... because I can’t stop going back and looking for new things, experiencing the adventure again, enjoying the exhilirating battles and beautiful melodies. This game really is a treasure!
Future Notes (that I don’t want to forget as I play) / useful for other characters:
The official guide confirms the following bosses increase same gender FP and opposite gender RP:
Visseyer (Sanctuary of Linga, and this one is optional)
Harfainx/Phalanx (Hoffman Ruins)
Berle/Metatron (both fights, Eluria Tower and Armlock)
Guardian (Field of Power)
Guardian (Field of Courage)
Indalecio/Gabriel (I don't think it matters whether he has his Limiter or not)
Rena and Claude get a boost before they both join one another after Salva. Not sure the extent of this (please see the same thread as the Pickpocket thread as it’s debug info).
Rena and Dias gain a RP for each other during the tournament of Arms while you're helping Dias recover his sword
The Final Guide says when pairing your MC with another, the scene at L’Aqua before Fienal is a good indicator of which couple you get (however, this can change thanks to the final boss, PAs, ect.)
And unlike when most characters join, Dias gained no FP/RP with the other characters when he joined, and no one seems to gain anything with him.
Claude and Rena get +2 at the laboratory / tree scene.
An easy way to tell if your MC has affection high enough for another party member (no way to check between party members):
Note: Also taken from the GameFAQs thread:
It seems that your friendship with him is going all right, and romance too... Wait, that's hard to tell. Sort of... more than friends but less than lovers... you know? Romance does not look probable. He is more like that classmate you used to have long talks with.
My, you are getting along well, aren't you. You can easily hope for things to develop romantically. But don't take things for granted. If you care for him, think of his perspective in everything you do. One mistake could wreck the relationship. But there's no chance of that is there?
My, you are getting along well, aren't you. And the romance seems to be developing well. But don't take things for granted. If you care for her, think of her perspective in everything you do. One mistake could wreck the relationship. But there's no need to worry.
Hmm. Both of you seem to be beginners in love. I'm not saying that you are lovers yet, things still seem Platonic. But you must both learn about each other, understand each other, and by making up for each other's shortcomings it may be possible to arrive at your first, true love. There is still a chance. But if you miss it, then it will be difficult.
Your friendship seems to be going quite well, and she would be fine as a woman friend to hang out with. But there is little hope of developing a romance. But don't give up. There may be a chance. She's like that childhood friend and classmate you had long talks with.
Your friendship is going very well, and he will probably be a life-long friend. And this friend is turning into a lover now. You can look forward to that.
Numbers 1, 4, and 5 are easy to understand. #1 means FP and RP are both under 10. #4 means RP is 10 or greater (enough for an ending) but FP is below 10. #5 means FP is 10 or greater, RP is below 10.
No idea how to interpret numbers 2 and 3. My best guess on #6 means FP is maxed out, and RP is at least enough for an ending together, but not maxed out.
Chisato adds +2 FP/RP (dependent) when she joins instead of 1. You can’t use her books before she joins, unlike Noel.

Telltales The Walking Dead (Review)
Date: 9/2/23
Hey everyone welcome back! Hope you are all doing well. Today I will be talking about the Telltales The Walking Dead first game, this game was a major comfort of mine growing up. I still hold it to very high standards.
In this game you play as a character named Lee Everett, a convicted murderer who is on his way to prison. Quickly though the cop car crashed, Lee breaks his way out of the vehicle to find help, only to see undead around him. He rushes to a house for help from the walking dead, only to find it abandoned and blood everywhere. He meets a little girl named Clementine, she basically ends up becoming his daughter. He makes it his mission to help her try and find her parents, they travel for weeks, meeting many people along the way. Most of these people stick together, wanting to find comfort in other survivors as they travel to find safety. They end up in a town called Savannah, the last place Clementine's parents were seen/heard. Through a heartbreaking event though, Lee is bitten and Clementine is captured by a random man. So with a race against time, Lee sets off to find his little girl and save her. He does eventually find her, only for their story to end in the most tragic way possible.
I love this game to my core, this one is a little shorter, but there is just so much story I would have to go over. You would be reading this all day. I highly recommend playing this, it is a bit older so the graphics are not absolutely everything, but that does not matter. It has an amazing story, characters you get attached to very easily, and overall just nice game play. It is kind of like a 3-D point and click though. :)
Here are some links to the trailer, game play, and a guide. :)

A Choices: The Royal Romance Dark AU fanfiction.
A/N Other than my few Bloodbound shorts, I’ve never written anything with supernatural overtones before. After receiving requests to see Liam and Riley’s story if he was a vampire, this storyline was born. Since it is set in one of my favorite books from Pixelberry, I had to include as many of the main and supporting characters as I could. The following chapters will explain more where they and what our main characters are. Not going to lie, I am very anxious to step out of my comfort zone for this, but I’m also super excited to see how it goes. Along with The Royal Romance, I will be referencing and altering both The Crown and The Flame and The Royal Masquerade.

Prologue
Once upon a time...
"Father!" Zenobia rushed down the stairwell. "Kenna is at the gates!"
King Luthor's frown deepened as he studied the places his troops had been destroyed. His hope to unite the five kingdoms and wipe off the abomination was for naught.
Kenna would not stop until he and his surviving offspring's heads were on pikes.
...until their blood filled the crystal goblets of the Dark Queen.
"What do we do?" His son, Diavolos, asked.
Luthor knew it was only himself Kenna wanted. After he had killed her mother, hoping to stop the monsters once and for all, Kenna would have her revenge.
If only he had known that she was a vampire...just like her mother.
"Listen carefully." His voice trembled at this possibly being the last time he was able to speak to his son and daughter. "A Nevarkis must always be ready to fight the creatures that prey on the weak and vulnerable."
"But..." Zenobia sniffed. "How? How can we possibly kill the unkillable?"
"She can be killed just like her mother before her." Luthor snapped. "Sunlight. A dagger to the heart. Cutting the head off." His features hardened with resolve. "Know that those are our true allies. Continue your training with daggers. Never stop being vigilant. Educate your children. And remember: where there's one vampire, many more lie in wait in the shadows."
Diavolos stepped forward and gripped his father's shoulder. "We will fight for you."
"No." Luthor corrected. "Fight for our people. The innocent. Fight for a chance to live without fear of monsters."
He cleared his throat. "If I should die--"
"Don't say that!" Zenobia screeched. "We'll be--"
"Kenna is coming for me." Luthor interrupted. "I know I must face the consequences of my actions."
"But--" Divalos lowered his head. "What are we to do?"
"Kill her." Luthor ordered. "Let your emotion be your strength." He took their hands. "And remember that a vampire is nature's evil incarnate. They will do whatever they want and kill anyone who they think is in their way." His voice turned to pleading. "Kill Kenna before she has a chance to kill you."
Zenobia nodded in a jerky manner. Diavolos swallowed with tears in his eyes.
"Good. Now prepare yourselves." Luthor pulled his sword from its sheath. "The devil herself is here."

Two years later...
Kenna cuddled her infant son, humming a lullaby.
Dom came in, a soft smile gracing his lips at the sight of his family.
"How are we this evening?" He asked, placing a kiss first on her lips then one on his son's forehead.
"A little fussy." Kenna explained. "But otherwise perfect."
"Good." Dom stretched then went to stoke the fire. "I will be going out later tonight."
Kenna's head jerked up. "Why? Are there more rumors?"
He nodded, a determined frown formed on his lips. "The Nevarkis brats refuse to let us live in peace." He moved to stand before the window that looked out toward the kingdom he had once lived in.
High in the mountains, the couple and those like them had found sanctuary. They built a kingdom, one of darkness and shadow that allowed them to live freely. He and Kenna were crowned the rulers, chosen by their people...those that were cursed as monsters.
"Si and I will be standing guard." He explained. "I will not risk you or our child."
"Dom..." Kenna pulled him close, capturing his lips in a long tender kiss. "This must end. I was foolish to let my need for revenge take over." Tears sparkled in her eyes. "Luthor might have left us alone if I had given him a chance."
Dom's face contorted into furious hatred. "A Nevarkis can never be trusted!" He gripped her waist, hands heating as he lost his temper. "He would have plunged a dagger into your heart the first chance he had."
"Dom." She said softly when he singed her clothes.
He wrenched his hands from her with a grimace. "I didn't burn you, did I?"
She shook her head. "I'm fine." She tried to lighten the mood. "Just a little overheated."
He took deep breaths to get himself under control. "Stay here where it is safe." His eyes searched hers. "Have you fed recently?"
"No, but I should be fine until you return." Kenna lifted a bottle with blood for their son. "I can call on one of the servants to help me if I need to."
"Promise me you won't go outside." He pleaded.
"Only if you promise to come back to me." She responded.
His lips quirked in that cocky smile she has always adored.
"Always, my queen." He kissed her once more, then slipped out the door to search out their enemies.

Present Day New York...
"Cordonia...land of both beauty and mystery." Riley wrinkled her nose. "Boring."
"No, it isn't." Hana argued. "I think that is the perfect beginning."
"Look at the comments from our last video." Riley swiveled her laptop so her friend could see. "People love our walkthroughs and all but hate my narration."
"Well..." Hana's brow furrowed. "Maybe we should try to add more to it than just narration." She pulled out some sketches. "We could add some animation of the history before showing our footage of the country."
"That might work." Riley mumbled, tapping her pen against her notebook.
The two set to work planning their next project.
After years of trying, they had finally achieved their dream of traveling for a living. The two college friends had taken every class they could on how to make their hopes into a reality. With Riley's love of history and business and Hana's talent with art and fashion, the pair had created a successful travel channel that showcased rarely visited countries and cities around the world.
Hana took care of all the shopping and dining found at their chosen destinations. Her "day trips" were hailed as must see for anyone planning a vacation. Riley took over for what could be found at night. Myths and legends blended in with what could be discovered once the sun set. A place's nightlife was thoroughly researched and reached a wide variety of their audience, causing many to plan a vacation just on her recommendations alone.
"Did your mom suggest where we should go first?" Riley asked, after skimming the same few articles about the elusive country.
"Not really." Hana hedged.
Riley glanced up. "Is she giving you a hard time again?"
"Yes." Hana slumped in her chair. "She told me to call when I was done playing tour guide."
"Geez." Riley grumbled. "Does she not realize that we have created a legit business?"
"Ladies shouldn't be involved in anything that does not pertain to their husband and family." Hana quoted. "I was supposed to have my debut to Cordonian society last year." Angry tears filled her eyes. "She still hasn't forgiven me for missing out on the Masquerade Ball."
Riley wrapped her in a comforting hug. "I'm sorry."
Hana patted her back. "Don't be. I finally feel like I can accomplish anything."
"That's because you can." Riley sat back with a grin. "Especially with planning out what we should focus on first."
Hana giggled as she went to search out some of her old books she had inherited from her grandparents. "These might help you with your part."
Riley's eyebrows lifted over the titles. "The Crown, the Flame, and The Night Queen."
"That is the earliest recorded story of vampires and monsters in Cordonia." Hana explained. "Queen Kenna Rhys and King Luthor Nevarkis both fought over uniting the kingdoms that make up Cordonia." She shook her head in disbelief. "There is a legend that Queen Kenna was a vampire that married a man who could transform into a dragon."
"For real?" Riley eagerly opened the book. "What happened?"
"Luthor died." Hana reached for another history book. "Some say it was a sword fight while others say she ripped his throat out with her fangs."
"Whoa. Either way, she sounds pretty epic."
"His son got revenge though." Hana flipped to another chapter. "He sneaked in one day and supposedly dragged Kenna into the sunlight. Before her husband could save her, she burned to ash."
"Brutal." Riley shivered. "What did the dragon do?"
Hana shrugged. "Supposedly he left with their child to protect him." She pointed at some drawings rendered from the Dark Ages. "Kenna's son came back to extract revenge. He eliminated one entire side of the Nevarkis family tree."
"And let me guess," Riley picked up another book. "The remaining Nevarkis's struck back?"
"It's supposedly been a feud for centuries between the Nevarkis and the Rhys' families." Hana pulled up an image on her phone. "Though one is currently ruling Cordonia."
Riley studied the image. "Queen Olivia Nevarkis. Looks like the Rhys lost the throne."
Hana shrugged. "There's a myth that they still rule Cordonia from the shadows."
"Mythical royal vampires, huh?" Riley laughed at the thought. "I hope I bump into one just so I can figure out who's really in charge."
Hana giggled at the thought. "You would be the only person to ask a logical, government question instead of the usual, whoa you're a real live vampire!"
Riley threw a pillow at her. "Hey! I can be calm and collected when faced with the unknown."
Hana threw the pillow back. "Tell that to the supposed haunted house we visited on our last trip." She broke out into laughter with Riley's defense that squeaking doors were the true villains. "On that note, I'm going to start packing. Our flight leaves first thing in the morning."
"I'll be ready." Riley promised.
Once alone, she flipped to a more current timeline of the supposed Dark Kingdom.
King Constantine Rhys the Third rules over what is his rightful kingdom. Rumors swirl that he is simply biding his time until he can eliminate the usurper, Queen Olivia Nevarkis, First of Her Name. The people know that one day, a Rhys will sit upon the throne, uniting the Dark Kingdom and Cordonia once and for all.

Cordonia's Royal Palace, 2 a.m.
"Heeeerah! Olivia threw her daggers as hard as she could while doing a roundhouse kick.
The blades struck into the chest, head, and groin of the makeshift dummy.
She brushed the few strands of red hair that had escaped her hair clip out of her eyes. With a great deal of scrutiny, she studied her dagger placement.
"The one to the head needs to go deeper."
She spun around with a start at that all too familiar voice.
"You're late." She folded her arms and tapped her foot.
Liam rubbed the back of his neck. "Sorry. Had to stop off for a quick bite."
Olivia rolled her eyes. "That's not funny."
"Not that kind of bite." He teased, holding up a styrofoam box.
"Oh." She blinked in surprise. "I forget that you enjoy normal food too."
He chuckled at that. "There are certain foods that I don't think any man could ever give up."
Olivia decided to ignore that as she wiped the sweat from her face and neck. "Now that you're here, let's get the formalities over with."
"Very well." Liam gestured toward her. "You may go first."
She sat down on a bench lining one side of the palace gym. She motioned for him to join her.
"Not you!" She hissed when she saw his all too familiar guard.
Drake Walker bristled at her tone. His brown eyes clashed with her green.
"Give us a moment, please." Liam asked him.
"Don't let your guard down." Drake warned. "Remember, she's a Nevarkis."
Olivia tensed. "Perhaps you should remember what happened the last time you said something like that."
She quirked one eyebrow at the man and felt a sense of glee when he winced in memory.
His hand automatically drifted to his side where one of her daggers had once struck true.
With a quick bow to Liam, Drake stepped back out into the hallway.
Liam shook his head. "Are you two ever going to get along?"
"Stop talking stupid." Olivia snapped. "Now then, as you know...I must have my revenge."
"I know." Liam folded his arms and leaned casually against a column.
She eyed him for any sign of hatred.
It drove her crazy how unvampiric he could be.
He seemed almost human.
He seemed...kind.
A vampire is nature's evil incarnate. You can never trust a Rhys.
Those words had been drummed into her skull by her parents and then her aunt after their deaths by Constantine's hand.
And yet...Liam had done the unthinkable.
He had actually been a friend to Olivia.
*************
The night after her parents' funeral, five year old Olivia had been sitting alone before the fireplace, weeping over them.
Her aunt had left her to deal with her own grief and to plan the next attack upon Constantine.
As she searched for a tissue, Olivia jumped back with a shriek at the little blonde haired boy that held the Kleenex box.
His eyes were filled with unshed tears as he handed her a tissue.
"Who are you?" She asked, remembering that a Nevarkis must always be brave.
"I'm Liam." He explained. "I wanted to...I wanted to tell you I'm sorry about your parents." He sniffed and took a tissue for himself. "My mom died too."
Olivia blinked and took a cautious step forward. "Are you...are you a vampire?!"
He nodded.
She whipped out the dagger her mother had given her and rushed at him.
Liam moved faster than she could comprehend, gently keeping her hand above her head.
"Let go of me, monster!" She ordered. "You're why I'm all alone!"
"I didn't do anything." He told her, anguish taking over his handsome features. "I don't want to hurt you or anyone."
"Liar!" She snapped. "That's what you do. Lie and kill." Her tears ran faster down her cheeks. "And now you'll kill me."
"I won't." He promised. "I swear I won't hurt you." He ignored his own tears trickling down his cheeks. His blue eyes burned with resolve. "My mother made me promise never to hurt a human."
Olivia shook her head. It had to be lies. Isn't that what vampires and monsters do? Lull you into letting your guard down so that they could have an easy kill.
"Your father will pay for what he did." She said, hoping to see his true, evil nature. "He must die!"
"I know." Liam slowly released her and took a step back.
Olivia watched in surprise as he sat down before her fireplace and pulled out a silk blue ribbon from his pocket.
He motioned for her to join him.
She slowly lowered herself down, dagger poised in her little fist in case he made a move.
"May I have your hand, please?" He asked.
He patiently waited on her to decide whether or not to give it to him.
She tentatively placed her hand in his.
His lips turned up into a relieved smile as he wrapped the ribbon over their joined hands.
"What are you doing?" She asked, lowering her dagger.
"Making a bond." He explained. "I, Liam Rhys, Crown Prince of the Dark Kingdom, promise to never seek out revenge and to end all vendettas against the Nevarkis family." His blue eyes held her green. "Just as my mother, Queen Eleanor wanted me to."
Oliva's lips parted. "You mean it?"
"I do." Liam's voice held a great deal of sincerity. "I would rather walk into the sun than not do as she asked."
"Oh." Olivia sniffed. She could understand that kind of devotion.
"Do you," Liam's cheeks colored. "Do you think we can be allies?"
"A Nevarkis will never be friends with a monster." She repeated the rhetoric that she knew by heart.
"But," Liam's shoulders slumped. "We're not all bad."
"All monsters are bad at heart."
"I'm not." He pouted. "I don't want to be."
"You're so weird." She muttered.
"Am not." Liam grumbled. "I hope I'm not."
Olivia looked down at their hands still bound together. "I guess since you promised something, I should too."
He didn't bother to hide his surprise.
She stuck her tongue out at him. "I, Olivia Nevarkis, The Crown Princess of Cordonia, swear that after I kill Constantine Rhys, I will lay down my weapons." Her brow furrowed. "I'll pick them back up though if you or any other monster tries anything."
Liam's smile grew. Before she could react, he tugged her into a quick hug.
"Now we can be friends!" He cheered.
"Friends?" She shook her head. "I'm a Nevarkis and you're a Rhys. We can't be friends."
"We will be." He vowed, jumping to his feet. "I have to go before Father finds out I've sneaked out. I'll try to come back in a few nights."
Olivia didn't have a chance to tell him whether or not she wanted him to. In the blink of an eye, he had jumped from her balcony and was already out the palace gates.
*****************
That had been the beginning of Liam's visits. Through the years, he had remained true to his promise. He did all he could to befriend her and never tried to sway her from seeking vengeance.
Olivia had once asked him how he could take her threat against his father so easily.
He had merely shrugged, explaining that he knew it was the way of things. His father had killed both her parents, while he had only lost one. He hoped she didn't since he did not wish to see his father or her dead.
Olivia had then told him again how weird he was, bringing another smile to his lips.
And now here he was again, calmly taking her promised vengeance well.
"So what business brings you here tonight?" She asked.
"Father thinks it is time I chose a wife." Liam responded. "I thought you should know that I will be spending more time in your kingdom to find one."
Olivia shot up off the bench. "What? But you promised to never hurt a human!"
"And I will keep true to that." He explained.
"But..." Olivia's brow furrowed. "You'll turn her into a vampire."
"Only if she wishes it." Liam explained. "I won't force her to make such a decision."
"I see." She began to pace while thinking. "You'll have vampire children."
"Only if she's a vampire." He reminded her. "Remember my brother."
Olivia paused. She had forgotten about Leo Rhys, The Great Disappointment of the Dark Kingdom. His mother had begged Constantine not to turn her. It had never been asked before, and in his mercy he had agreed. That was when they all discovered that a monster and a human could only produce a human child. In order for the heir to the Dark Kingdom to be a vampire, both parents had to be the same being.
"And you'll be fine having human children?" She asked. "If you're chosen bride refuses the Vampire's Kiss?"
"Of course." He responded.
"Lord, you're so weird." She muttered.
His smirk flashed. "Let's hope the woman I choose doesn't think so."
"Are there no women in your kingdom you can choose from?" She asked.
"I've looked." He shook his head. "It's hard to explain, but if one doesn't have an arranged marriage, then we must search until we see the one meant for us."
"And you somehow got weirder." She brushed her hands down her pants and held one out to him. "Good luck, I suppose."
"Thank you." He grasped her hand and lifted it to his lips. "I'll keep you updated on my progress."
"There's no need."
"Of course there is." He winked at her on his way out. "We're friends."
Her lips parted to once again remind him that they couldn't be. For some reason, she decided not to say it.
Liam had somehow wormed his way into her life and had become the closest friend she had ever had.

The Lee Residence, Shanghai, China...
Lorelei paled as she reread the report.
It can’t be. Not Now!
Of all the times for this to happen, it would be when her stubborn, foolish daughter decided to visit.
Given the nature of her relationship with Hana, she knew that there was no way she could convince her to postpone her trip to Cordonia.
There was only one course of action left to take. She would have to call the one man who was capable of protecting her daughter. She would promise hiim anything as long as he kept Hana out of Liam’s clutches. As much as wanted her to give up this ridiculous hobby she called a job and settled down with the right sort of man, she would never put her in the path of becoming the next vampire queen.
Setting down the packet of information from one of her informants, she checked to make certain no servant was out in the hallway and then searched for the needed phone number.
Taking a deep breath, she placed the call.
Her trepidation grew when he didn’t immediately answer.
"Hello."
"Lord Beaumont?"
"Yes." She could hear a door closing in the background. "Who is this?"
"Lorelei Lee." She replied.
"Lady Lorelei." He responded with a recognition. "How can I help you?"
"My daughter and her friend have got it in their heads to come visit Cordonia." She began. "I'm not certain how long they intend to stay, but I was hoping that I could retain your services."
"For what exactly?" Lord Beaumont asked.
"Protection." She replied. "I have heard through certain channels that the dark prince is beginning to search for a bride." She took a deep breath. "We do NOT want our daughter anywhere near that vile creature."
"I understand." He replied. "I usually don't do personal security. With my brother, Bertrand, retired," he hesitated, "it is left up to me to help protect Cordonia's borders."
"My husband and I would be in your debt if you could watch over her in the evenings." Lorelei cajoled. "I've heard that your brother is planning on extending his vineyards. We would be more than happy to invest in the production and distribution of his sparkling wine. Perhaps even let it be the only sparkling wine we serve in our hotels."
"Send me her information and picture. Call her and tell her that since our family is an old friend of yours, that I've volunteered to show them around. Find out where she's staying and when she plans on arriving."
"Oh thank you, my lord. We--"
"I'll also need a contract prepared and signed for all that you offered." He added.
"Yes of course. I'll get everything to you at once." She promised.
Once he ended the call, she sank back down onto her chair.
She bowed her head and began to pray that her daughter came to no harm these next few weeks. To lose Hana to one of the many creatures that roamed the night in Cordonia was too horrible to even contemplate.
If anyone could keep her daughter safe then it was none other than Lord Maxwell Beaumont.

Wow, your art is AMAZING!! Your art style is very cool, and I especially love the Din ones. He looks so soft! Also, the Walkthrough that you did with the butterfly picture was super helpful! I'll totally keep some of the tips in mind for when I draw on Procreate!
do you have any tips on drawing babies? I saw some of the baby drawings that you have, and they look amazing! I have a baby oc that I'm working on, but I can never seem to get the face right😅
Thank you so much🥺🥰 that really makes my day to hear! I wasn’t sure if anyone would find the Walkthrough helpful!
Babies are tough, but there are a few things that I found help! The main points come down to the shapes and the proportions.
You need to keep the shapes soft and curved, babies are basically comprised of squished circles, a big ole jellybean body, and everything else (Fingers, toes, etc…) is nubs. By nature they look rather comical.
Compared to adults, babies proportions are way off:
🍼 Large craniums, more forehead than an older character
🍼 Eyes appear big, a baby’s eyeball is normally the same size as an adults.
🍼 Noses are generally a very cute flat button, even if a character later has a hook nose, it only shows very subtly, if at all, on a baby.
🍼 Baby mouths are weird. When closed they appear very narrow, hardly any wider than the nose, but when they smile that mouth spreads super wide, squishing those cheeks!
🍼 The whole face tends to sit lower on the head than standard.
🍼 The neck is almost nonexistent it’s so tiny. The smaller the neck the younger the baby appears
🍼depending on your style, you can add big or small ears… big gives a funny quirky look, whereas I find small ears lend very well to a newborn look.
🍼Arms and legs are short and chubby, and hands and feet are tiny. As a general guide I like to make the hands look like they could just maybe cover their cheeks, no bigger.
🍼 If you give them knees, remember that they are not normally knobbly, kneecaps may only grow in by toddler stage, so baby knees are very smooth and round, following the curves of the legs.
🍼 Nappies/diapers add cushioning so it does affect the shape under clothing, You can give them a nice rounded booty.
Overall, you want to keep the shapes soft, the less detailing the better. Too much and you get old-man babies
I hope these help!💕

I found all the Pokémon in snap!! Finally!! (I had help lol)
My tips?
Just play the game, no seriously most of them are going to show up eventually on their own! Most on lvl 3 maps.
If you level up a map DON'T HIT REPLAY you will replay at your old level! Exit to the camp and go back into the map for new stuff to start appearing!
Complete quests! Try them first on your own, some of them are very straightforward and simple, some of them are gonna require a walkthrough 😅 that's ok! Just understand that most of the walkthroughs online were created quickly with "wait how did we do that???" players behind them! You may have to tweak what you do to get them to work (or find a different guide)
Don't get so caught up in completion that you forget to have fun! I did this, realized I was frustrated and not enjoying the things I was achieving and took a step back! It's a buggy game, just have fun with it!
Realize you can change the lvl of any map! I did not!! Lolol in small letters it says "x to change level" There are some quests and pokémon unavailable in the higher levels!
Those are the basic ones I can think of rn 😅 if you're ok with spoilers see below the cut for how to find some of the harder ones!
Ok! So some of the names of the places are just gonna be what I call them because I'm tired and don't have my switch on me 😅 you'll know what I mean I promise, also I'm not including different star walkthroughs! Only how to find the Pokémon!
Lugia: I'm putting this one first because I loath it in it's entirety. I swear the rest are nowhere near this complicated
Location: Undersea Cave (underwater map) must be a least lvl 3
Instructions: Scan to take the alternate path into the deep cave (once you're at level 3 this will be open automatically but you can open it before by throwing an orb at the Clawitzer as it shoots into the cave on the left early in the map! If you hit the kelp forest you've gone too far/haven't unlocked Clawitzer yet!)
You should see Starmie swimming around, this is how you know you're on the right level and path! As you pass Tentacruel you'll start your decent to the sea floor.
Look around spastically (I'm not kidding every walkthrough video I've seen has just turned in fast, crazy circles) until you see a Lanturn against the wall and immediately hit it with an orb, you'll know you've done it in time if it dives down instead of joining the throng of pokémon swimming up.
Wailmer/lord will block your view for a second but you should see a couple of Frilish now harassing said Lanturn. Hit it with and orb again to help it fight off the Frilish. It'll be grateful to you and show you a new path! (You'll still need to scan it!) You'll find Lugia around the corner on your right (it's hard to miss!)
There's a Crystal Bloom above it near a sleeping Magikarp, if you hit the bloom it should wake Lugia up! Have fun and memorize this because you have to do all of this EVERY TIME 😄
.
Celebi: It's just there!
Location: Evermore Forest (is that right??? The mystery forest)
Instructions: get to level 3 on the forest (you may have to "beat" the game I'm not sure) and make your way to the end! Don't take the Sun Field route, go where the Beware are, then look immediately to your right! Celebi is flying around and will continue to zip around you!
.
Jirachi and Absol: again they just show up after beating the game!
Location: The Ruins
Jirachi is sleeping on top of the 2nd flower pool and Absol will be hanging out near the end! Once you find/interact with them they'll be around in other places as well!
.
Mew: mew!!
Location: Jungle Forest (night) you must "beat" the game first!
Immediately upon start turn all the way around, hit the two Murell with an orb and play the melody, they'll dance and a familiar pink orb with spring out of the trees!
After a few seconds of flying around it'll pause in front of you, throw a fluff fruit at it and start snapping pics!
I haven't managed to achieve this myself yet but apparently if you manage to hit and get a picture of Mew every time it shows up, it'll then appear right in front of you at the end of the course! Get pictures and they should be flying around day and night without prompting!
.
Suicune: tiny bit complicated
Location: Snow World (names man I'm sorry) Night
So actually activating Suicune isn't hard, getting to them isn't either but it's a lot of steps!
So if you haven't unlocked the 2 alt paths for this level you'll need to do that first so let's go over that!
Start in the day at lvl 2 and look to your left to see an Alolan Sandslash, take its picture! Keep looking to your left and, just beyond Beartic, up high on a snow drift you'll spot the rascal again, again snap a photo! And he'll lead you to a new path! Hurray! (Scan for it of course)
Now that path is open at night as well so, once you're finished, head back in at night lvl 2. Take the new path and you should find a Crabominable punching trees (as you do). He'll eventually go to punch a tree on your left that an Abomasnow is sleeping beside. Chuck an orb before he punches, this'll drop snow on Mr Aboma who will wake up pissy and will scare out a Froslass, take her picture! She'll be shy and show you yet ANOTHER path! (Scan ofc) Now you may want to just explore this area first as there's quite a few new Pokémon here! Both routes are now available day and night!
Anyways once you're out of a cave you'll pass through, you'll emerge to a Jynx riding an Avalugg through the water. Throw an orb at her and she'll raise her hands. At this point look to your right and Suicune should eventually run out from behind the glacier!
(btw Glaceon is up on top of the cliff at the natural end of this level! Where all the Spheal are!)
.
Ho-oh: just chillin
Location: Volcano
Immediately look to your right between the two cliffs to catch them in flight! You have to take pictures every time they show up to get them to spawn at the end and I have yet to achieve this 😅 but hey we're just here to fill out the photodex right?
.
Dianice and Jolteon: Oh THAT'S where Jolteon is hiding!!
Location: Ice Cave
I'm pretty sure you have to be at lvl 3 but not 100%
Take the Crystal Cave route near all the Croagunk (on the other side of the river) once you pass through the smaller cave, look down to find a Malwile and two Carbinks, orb all 3 of them and look to your right, Dianice will come out towards the happy sounds! If you orb her she'll give you some multi star reactions!
Her presence will have made the 2nd Malwile, the one standing on the crystal who refuses to face you, move revealing a secret path, scan for it, take a picture of the Malwile cause it's finally facing you and you'll descend behind the wall! Jolteon will be hiding in some leaves to your left! (The pictures will register! I'm sure it comes out eventually)
.
Gardevoir and Ninetales: and the winter route!
Location: Evermore Forest (again!)
Be sure to be at lvl 3 as it's the only lvl this works on (not max!)
Scan and melody until you can make a right turn, this will ensure Trevenant is out of the way of the path! Espeon will run in front of you and sit, orb her! She'll lead you to the winter forest path!
Gardevoir is hard to miss and Ninetales shows up to your right far away, and towards the end of the winter path will still be to the right but closer!
Have you managed to do the Lost Little Deerling quest/path yet? If not:
Once you pass to the next part of the forest (where Sawsbuck jumps in front of you...3 star pic btw) look immediately to your right and orb the flower. You'll hear and then see a Deerling pop up! Orb the next flower, then you'll see 2 flowers, you wanna hit the one furthest back but NOT the closer one. Then hit the Espeon flower, which will still draw out Espeon but this time she has a friend :3 papa (mama?) Sawsbuck will be thrilled (pics of Deerling to complete the quest!) and all 3 will lead you to the Sun fields! Scan to take the path, it's near those two adorable Espurrs!
If you took the winter path Gardevoir and Ninetales will be here as well! Gardevoir will eat a Fluffruit now and Ninetales will be happy with an orb!
(a loooot of the quests for this map are also in this part of the forest!)
Welp...that was long!! But I hope it helps!! Let me know if there's any Pokémon you're missing that I didn't mention!!

The Nightmares Don’t Stop- 7
Warnings: weapons including firearms,
Chapter List
Steve glances at Natasha as if waiting for an answer. She complies.
“Just catching up with my old friend here,” she grins. Steve looks at Peter.
“Hello again there Peter,” Steve nods to Peter who blushes profusely. Natasha sighs in exasperation. You get the feeling Peter might be more familiar with the Avengers than he lets on. “Not Peter, Steve. Y/n here. I met her at a bar the other day. I was observing her as one of the members of my group.” Natasha replies to Steve. You look at her confused, as does Steve.
“We weren’t supposed to interact with our recruits outside of observing them from a respective distance, Nat.” Steve states with an authoritative tone.
“I didn’t realize you would be ‘observing’ us at all prior to today,” you frown at the ground, feeling a bit violated.
“Yeah, me neither,” Peter interjects softly.
“It was in the contracts you both signed. We needed to see what the recruits were like in real life to make sure they weren't possible threats to the team,” Natasha shrugs. “I wasn’t going to interfere but I also didn’t want to see you get hurt or worse,” she says to you. Memories of the sleazebag at the bar come back to you and you nod at her appreciatively. Steve seems to understand as well. The two superheroes walk off in the direction the others went, but not before Steve throws a small smile your way, the sight of which sent butterflies to your stomach. He seemed like such a genuine guy, someone you could see yourself crushing on before your life went to shit. A security guard clears his throat behind you and Peter, causing you to jump a little bit. It wasn’t typical for someone to be able to surprise you but Steve’s smile had caught you off-guard. The man opens the door and gestures through it.
“FRIDAY please guide these two back to the dining area,” the guard states monotonously. You and Peter take a hint and step through the doors, following FRIDAY’s instructions to the dining hall in silence. You both step inside to see people sitting at various tables labeled “Group 1” “Group 2” and “Group 3” while munching on various breakfast foods. You nod politely at Peter. “Guess this is where we go our separate ways,” you say to him. “I hope to see you in the finals if our paths don’t cross before then.” You smile at him slightly, hoping to give the nervous-looking boy some comfort. He grins back at you.
“Come on, you and I quoted Vine to each other. We’re practically best friends now. We should maybe- if you want to, I mean- exchange numbers, unless you don’t want to, of course...” Peter sheepishly holds out his unlocked phone to you which you then grab and text your own number as you two chatter about random things. Both of you are electing to ignore the weird confrontation with three Avengers from before. You barely have time to hand back his phone when the man named Happy appears and unceremoniously holds out a uniform to each of you. He leaves after you both accept the offered articles of clothing.
“Should we go change? I don’t even know where the bathrooms are,” you half-ask Peter, looking at the ugly uniform.
“I can show you,” Peter offers before quickly jerking his head up. “I mean I can ask FRIDAY for us. For you. Since we would change separately, obviously.” He smiles at you as you raise your eyebrows. Clearly Peter knows more about the Avengers and the compound than he’s openly willing to let on, but you choose not to push him. You chuckle to ease his nerves.
“Alright weirdo, sounds like a plan,” you say to him teasingly. He beams as the two of you walk into the hallway and do exactly as Peter said. You return to the dining area dressed for the Hunger Games, not seeing Peter and wonder where to sit. Suddenly, FRIDAY announces to the room.
“Attention recruits. I have been told to instruct your respective groups on the next are your presences will be required within the next five minutes. Team Winners will follow the yellow lights to Mr. Stark’s lab, Team Spandex will follow the red lights to the shooting range, and Team Old Man will follow the blue lights to the indoor gym. Please be prompt,” FRIDAY announces, repeating herself once more before going silent.
Lights appear in two of the hallways. Red and blue lights leading in one direction with yellow lights leading in another. You do as told and follow the red lights. Eventually the blue lights diverge on another path and you are left with some other recruits who you guess will be your new “friends” for the rest of the month. Eventually the hallway leads you into a shooting range. Various stalls are open, each with multiple weapons laying on their tables. You don’t have long to take it in before a familiar voice brings your attention to the far end of the stalls.
“Hello. Let’s cut straight to the chase here. For the rest of the week you will all be trained and judged on your abilities that I specialize in. This includes proficiency in various weapons, though Bucky will go over some of that with you all a bit more in-depth later on. We will start here and move on to mental strength and skills later in the week. For now, me and Clint here will be your instructors. A man jumps down from the shadows. You recognize him as Clint Barton, AKA Hawkeye.
“Hey there runts! Don’t let Miss Professionalism here throw you off, she has a heart under that icy exterior,” Clint teases, Natasha glaring at him teasingly. “I think..” He rubs the back of his neck and you chuckle along with the recruits. “Today is mostly just us testing the waters but once we see what you’re all capable of, we can play to your strengths! If everyone could step up to a stall please…” He gestures to the stalls. You end up near the side closest to the far wall where Natasha stands. The rest of the stalls had been taken pretty quickly, likely because everyone was too intimidated to stand near the Black Widow. She throws you a quick reassuring smile. You nod back, still a little embarrassed about having her drag your drunkass back to your apartment the other night.
You look at the weapons in front of you. There is a compound bow, a crossbow, various arrows, handguns, and a few different rifles. You had never shot a gun before, but you figured your minor in physics must be good for something here. It’s not like anything could go wrong, giving a bunch of over-eager 20-something year olds access to firearms. Perfectly safe! A look of incredulity must have crossed over your face because when you look up, Natasha glances over at you in amusement. The two Avengers walked out between the stalls and the targets so that they were visible to everyone. Behind them leaned against the wall are weapons that appear to be the same as the ones laid out in front of you. They are standing so that your line of sight is perpendicular to theirs. At the far end of the stalls is a wall with a couple body targets on it. “Clint and I will demonstrate a weapon out here and then we will return behind the stalls with you to help your form and observe. This will continue until we have gone through all of the weapons once. Any questions?” Natasha asks as Clint picks up a crossbow and sheathes an arrow. He shouts various tips and instructions before finally executing them in one swift action, loading the arrow into the head of one of the dummy targets. He and Natasha step back behind the stalls to join the recruits once again. Arrows begin to bombard the line of targets. You take a few shots, feeling eyes on your back every once in a while. You expect Natasha or Clint to step in and correct your form at some point as you had heard them do with others, but the corrections never come. Looking at your target, you realize you have sunken all five of your arrows into the human-shaped target. Two in the torso, one in the knee, and two in the head.
“Alright everybody stop and please unload your crossbows and set them down in front of you,” Natasha’s voice rings out. Everyone does as they are told and the two Avengers appear in front of the stalls once again. This time, Clint holds a compound bow with a look of excitement on his face. He glances at all of the targets, taking note of yours in particular as he tilts his head at you with an eyebrow raised. The moment passes and the weapon walkthrough picks up once again. This continues until the last weapons demonstration with one of the rifles. You have done decently so far. Natasha had been the one to demonstrate all of the firearms, making sure everyone put their headphones on correctly before any shots were made. You had done pretty well for having as little experience as you did. All of your shots hit the body target, but it’s not like you were the only one. You were, however, aware that you were the only one who had not been corrected on their form up to this point.
Everyone placed their headphones on for the final demonstration and then readied their weapons and began shooting. This rifle had a bit more kickback than any of the other weapons so far and it startled you. You feel eyes on you after your second shot and suddenly a hand reaches up and gently grabs your wrist.

Dark Souls 3 is like... My Game in so many ways, it's the Souls game I was best at before playing Demon's Souls, it's the second one I ever finished (after Bloodborne), and the first one I ever finished totally on my own, it has some of my favorite areas and takes you on a beautiful journey that really resonates with me
But also I looked at virtually no guides playing through it. It's the only Souls game I was able to do that with. A lot of these games I would have been totally, hopelessly lost in without the Fextralife wiki and various YouTube tutorials.
But Dark Souls 3 was different. I have probably over 200 hours in that game and I've only ever looked up very basic walkthroughs for when I've been hopelessly stuck on a boss or an area for too long, to see if there was some obvious thing I was missing that soapstone messages weren't clearing up. (That's another big part of it -- DS3's messaging system is so damn good, players can write very effective tutorials into the game itself)
Which is why I had no idea that game had, like, actual NPC storylines and quests outside of the vague few I've run into on my own. I didn't know that Hawkwood had a questline. I didn't know Siegward had anything after the bit with Patches. I've never met Cornyx or Karla, somehow. I have absolutely no idea who Sirris and Orbeck are. I don't know how I've missed these things at all, man
One of these days I'm just going to start DS3 from scratch with, like, complete guides to every area just so I can experience all of it, in its entirety. I love this game so much and, god, I keep watching random YouTube videos where people talk about certain characters and questlines and aspects of the game, and show certain weapons and armor sets and abilities, and I'm like "HUH???"

1-30 for the video game ask. you know i had to do it to ya
I literally had to make a google doc for this, there was so many questions, cause formatting machine broke here:
Do you try to stay away from walkthroughs? 🥚 Aggressively. Walkthroughs, guides and videos are a last resort.
Company you're always loyal to? 🥚 I mean Nintendo's pretty high up there but I'm gaining a LOT of respect for Double Fine lately as well!
Best game you've ever played? 🥚 Super. Paper. Mario.
Worst game you've ever played? 🥚 Ninjabread Man... Yes. Ye's I've played that shovelware nightmare.
A popular series/game you just can't get into no matter how much you try? 🥚 I've never been able to get into most fighting games of any kind. Street fighter, tekken, smash brothers- Though I'm trying my hardest with smash, since my little brother is heavily attached to it and I'm heavily attached to him.
A game that's changed you the most? 🥚 There's a few games actually! Paper Mario 64, Pokemon Ultra Moon and Hollow Knight! - Paper Mario because it was my first introduction to dark themes hidden under a bright color of paint! Taught me that you don't necessarily need the world ending to have something scary! - Pokemon cause it's kinda been my first bold step out against my religious household's views. It was a good dose on independence! - Hollow Knight is smaller, admittedly... It introduced me to metroidvanias and speedrunning in a way that I can actually have fun! Cheating but not also is kinda fun, haha!
A game you'll never forget? 🥚 Club Penguin! Yes, I'm counting that here! That was my childhood and would probably have done what Paper Mario did if it had come first in my life!
Best soundtrack? 🥚 For those who don't know, I'm a HUGE music fan, so choosing one OST is kinda hard for me! That being said, I have a soft spot for both Mario Galaxy OSTs, A Hat in Time, Psychonauts and recently Paper Mario: The Oragami King.
A game you turn your volume off every time you play it? 🥚 The World Ends With You, after some of my father's comments on the OST, sadly...
A game you've completely given up on? 🥚 Granny Simulator. I don't have anyone to play it with.
Hardest game you've played? 🥚 Hollow Knight by far. You try to 112% Steel Soul that shit and get back to me.
Shortest time you've beaten a game in? 🥚 Maybe an hour? I beat Tattletail in about that time.
A game you were the most excited for when it wasn't released yet? 🥚 PSYCHONAUTS 2 PSYCHONAUTS 2 P S Y C H O N A U G H T S 2
A game you think would be cool if it had voice acting? 🥚 The Paper Mario Franchise as a whole honestly
Which two games do you think would make an awesome crossover? 🥚 Hmm, Genshin Impact and Xenoblade Chronicles! I think they'd mesh nicely!
Character you've hated most? From what game? 🥚 Gosh, genuinely hate? I've never hated any character... Okay maybe that's a lie. I don't hate him anymore but as a kid I HATED Huff'n'Puff from Paper Mario 64. Specifically his fight. He healed himself all the time and the amount of support puffs he could have. As a kid I could NEVER beat him and still have yet to go back to the fight. I know what to do nowadays, but the problem is getting the game.
What game do you never tell people you play? 🥚 ... Cookie Run? Maybe Fruit Ninja?
A game you wish your friends knew about? 🥚 SUPER! PAPER! MARIO!!! And Bugsnax!
Which game do you think deserves a revival? 🥚 Xenoblade Chronicles and Style Savvy!
What was the first video game you ever played? 🥚 Super Mario World for the SNES!
How old were you when you first played a video game? 🥚 Maaaaybe 5? 7?? I was very young, but my brother was younger!
If you could immerse yourself in any game for one day, which game would it be? What would you do? 🥚 Pokémon! I would love to try my hand at a league or even just having an in-person companion in my life.
Biggest disappointment you've had in gaming? 🥚 The Meat Circus
Casual, Hardcore, or in the middle? 🥚 It entirely depends on the game, honestly.
Be honest; have you ever used cheats (like ActionReplay or Gameshark)? 🥚 I never have, to my knowledge. That was more my brother's thing. I have only ever used "cheat codes" that were in a game before, and even then it was just to less around and not actually beat the game.
Handheld or console? 🥚 Computer, actually. I find myself on here more than I do my DS or Switch, mainly cause of my brother and father. I'm always anxious they'll come down here and be upset that I'm on the switch so I just. Don't touch it ever anymore. And my DS is currently Pokemon Nuzlocke Only, so I can hide the game in it.
Has there ever been a moment that has made you cry? 🥚 Mother. Fucking. Huff'n'Puff Fight!!!! Story wise, recently Genshin Impact's been tugging at my heartstrings some.
Which character's clothes do you wish you owned the most? 🥚 I never actually thought about this. Mainly cause I'm not exactly most character's sizes... Some of the NPC outfits in Genshin Impact look really comfy though!
Which is more important, gameplay or story? 🥚 Both are integral to a game! Without a good story, it doesn't matter how good the gameplay is, your players won't have motivation to keep playing. Without good gameplay, a good story will feel more drawn out and disjointed. It's incredibly vital to have both!
A game that hasn't been localized in your country that you think should be localized? 🥚 MOTHER 3! GIVE US AN OFFICIAL RELEASE NONTENDO!!!

[WALKTHROUGH + REVIEW] Masquerade Kiss: Kazuomi Shido Season 2
Today is the last day of the Collector’s Edition campaign so I finally worked up the courage to make a walkthrough for Kazuomi’s Season 2
As always, I have calculated the cheapest ways to get to Eden End and Super Happy Ending, with options to get all CGs or just to spend as few hearts as possible. Bear in mind that this guide does not take plotline into account as some of the more expensive heart scenes tend to carry more story. So some of the heart scenes that I have omitted from some guides may contain more significant narrative moments.
Don’t forget that to get the Collector’s Edition, you need to get to Eden End in MasuKisu S2, rather than just Super Happy Ending like normal... you know, for certain r€a$o₦$. Kazuomi is surprisingly the cheapest in total out of the S2 routes that have been released thus far, but sadly not the cheapest when you eliminate the unneeded scenes to get to good endings. Either way, with my guides you can save up to almost 50% of the needed hearts for Super Happy Ending or 27% for Eden Ending!
If you have limited hearts but want the Collector’s Edition while it’s available, I would suggest just going with the cheapest guide for now, and then you can always come back and purchase the CGs or scenes that you want later on even when the campaign has ended.
Keep scrolling for the walkthrough and guide.

Are you ever filled with a sense of wrongness? It’s that feeling in the pit of your stomach and it feels like you’re internally twisting and squelching the urge to scream? That’s me writing this post right now! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I missed a few days and now the posts are out-of-order and if I ever decide to post about the missed days in the future and it kills me inside... OMG, I think my eyes are tearing up. SOMEONE PLEASE GET ME A MAN WITH BIG, STRONG ARMS TO ROCK ME! This is not a drill! 😭
...
Let’s move on. 👉🏾👈🏾
Today resulted in a shift in my lifestyle that will hopefully be used as a benchmark for the many days to come. For the past 2 weeks, my sleeping schedule has been so unhealthy to the point where I’ve been consistently sleeping through 3+ alarms. Never in my life had it gotten so bad and a bish could only admit she was sick when she was would stare at herself in the mirror at 4AM while taking a piss. 😫
But today was different! Lemme give you the rundown:
Slept at 1AM which is amazing for me LOL.
6:30-7:30AM: Woke up and worked out (arms)!
Cardio (20 mins): Ran 1 mile in 15 mins.
Did a cool down for an additional 5 mins listening to my bihh Bree Runway.
Daily Arm Workout (7 mins): Holly’s Quick + Intense Arm Workout
Arm Workout 1 (10 mins): Pamela’s Toned Arms Workout
Arm Workout 2 (7 mins): Tracy Campoly’s Bat Wings II
Stretch (15 mins)
7:30-9:00AM: Made cute egg sandwiches and a superfood smoothie with my Mom.
First thing she said to me this morning was that she was proud of me. That’s all an immigrant’s daughter wants to hear! 😭
9:00-9:30AM: Met my “buddy”/mentor at work and he’s amazing.
Imma be honest... My last internships onboarding sucked and it followed me throughout the year.
My first day consisted of setting my environment with tools I’ve never heard of. A lot of information was thrown my way and it went over my head. That’s normal.
However, what wasn’t normal was that I was watching Udemy courses for 1.5-2 weeks! Like COME ON! You really don’t know what to do with me!
And then I get my first task in the infamous backend with no understanding of the technologies used and how to build/test. I was assumed to know...
It was so bad... How do you ask for help when you don’t even know where to begin or how to articulate the question? I never received a proper full demo of the product and was never given a walkthrough of the codebase.
This pissed me off later because I saw the same buddy I was assigned to on my first team give a demo and multiple codebase walkthroughs with a new hire. So they were worthy of it but not me? OK, I see what’s up.
Overall, my onboarding killed my confidence and made me scared to ask anything because I felt like such an inconvenience. It took me months to break me out of it (although I appeared confident and happy). I sometimes get sad thinking about it now, but I’m not solely to blame. Took me a long time to understand that.
It helped when I compared my onboarding with the other intern group that came later and led some of the workshops. Saw how clueless they were too and how I was never given the same opportunities to learn in a guided environment.
My manager (who was so kind and genuine) saw how bad it was and apologized for it. He was the only one who pushed for me to have ownership on a project, and my buddy even protested giving it to me. Why did they underestimate me so much...
But for my current internship? A-M-A-Z-I-N-G so far!
I have already received two demos of the product.
I’ve been told specifically about upcoming projects the team will be undertaking and given expectations.
Have a couple of codebase walkthroughs already scheduled!
Given quick, easy-to-digest resources for serivces I am unfamiliar with.
And the best thing... My buddy doesn’t assume any of my knowledge and I know I’ve been impressing him with how quick I’ve been so far (it helps when you’ve worked at the company before LOL). it actually boggles my mind how much support I’m getting from him and I’m so appreciative.
9:30-10:00AM: Met the rest of the team. Again, this meeting was facilitated by my buddy and he warned me about the questions they would ask me. I don’t deserve him 😭 ACTUALLY... NO, I DO HAHA! His investment will pay off. 💪🏾
10:00AM-1:30PM: Intern Orientation
This was lowkey painful as it was so long and it repeated a lot of information I already knew.
It picked up near the end as the interns got more active in the chat and created a discord server and a few slack channels. 🤗
1:30PM-5:00PM
I ate food somewhere in this time frame...
Worked on fixing some of my backend problems with my buddy.
Finished a training video for new hires.
Made a record of all I did thus far on GitHub.
The remainder of my day:
Spent time in the backyard with the fam. Today is a celebratory day for my people in successfully overthrowing a terrorist regime in Ethiopia.
My mom decorated the backyard. My parents were forcing me to take videos/put them on live to share with their friends LOL.
My mom dressed a life-sized ratchet Barbie doll in the Ethiopian flag and Akira (my dog) was running for his life away from it. 🤣🤣
I played one game of skribble.io with some interns. They were so cute and one of the girls reached out to me and recognized me from a panel. 🤪 She kept saying it was my energy/style that made me recognizable and I was so flattered. 🥺
Finished the group registration for Ada’s Team (something I forgot about and was putting off. Finally did it though!)
Caught up with people from the Ethiopia COVID-19 Response Team slack and gave updates.
Some random person reached out to me and was gushing how amazing I was. 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 I looked into him and he works at Amazon -- a bish wasn’t ready for the love!
...
I wrote so much WTF. WHY THO?!
Whatever, this was therapeutic. Starting this internship and comparing it with my previous one has has reignited the toxic resentment I have towards my onboarding experience. Thank you Mimi, Aysha, and Tumblr for facilitating my healing as now I realize I have a problem I need to deal with LOL.
OK, that’s enough! Goodnight. 😘
