I've been trying to think if there are any circumstances where I could see Dany giving up her claim to the throne in favor of anyone else, and honestly, I don't think that would ever happen. Obviously she is willing to make certain concessions, especially regarding leadership in the North, but for the Iron Throne itself? Like . . . Rhaegar himself could come back from the dead and she still would not abandon her claim for his sake. Even if she would postpone taking the throne for whatever reason like fixing problems elsewhere or properly establishing herself as Princess of Dragonstone first, she still wants to take the throne when she feels she's ready. Because Dany's claim isn't really built around whatever birthright she may have. Her approach is, ironically, the same right of conquest that Robert Baratheon used to back his own claim, with his ancestry used to bolster his claim but not as the crux of it. Her bloodline isn't something that's ignored, but that's certainly not her primary reason for wanting the throne. She wants the throne because she truly believes she is the right person to sit it. Her sense of self-righteousness is what drives her to claim it, not the feeling that she should just because she's (supposedly) the last Targaryen. It's clear from Dany's POV chapters that she never cared for taking the throne until she tasted power and saw the good she could do with it, and THAT was when she began to wonder if she should contest for the throne herself. She isn't doing this because she believes the Targaryen dynasty must be avenged or restored to power; she's doing this because she believes in herself and the things she can do.

alright unless proven otherwise, i'm going to hc that toxinelle's crush is actually griffe noire
Tumblr media
or a “crush who doesn’t think I’m a lame-o”! credits to @2manyfandoms2count for the translation
it's unfortunate... but hear me out
Tumblr media
the salters always say that the lovesquare is toxic codependency, imma show you what real toxic codependency really is, on the part of emonette at least
Tumblr media
'he's rude as fuck and disrespects her all the time, there's no way emonette would fall for him' while this is true and i would agree under normal circumstances, toxinelle came from a world where she didn't have anyone, no super awesome friends to inspire her everyday, no best friend in life and in death, no mum who is gentle and calm, nothing. she's lonely and has nothing to fall back on, but you know who she can fall back on? griffe noire
Tumblr media
even if he does let her fall
he is the only constant she has in her life, at least ever since she got her miraculous. even if it means getting insulted left and right by him, she puts up with him
why? cause if she doesn't she'll truly lose the only thing she has 'going' in her life
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and we can see that after she read marinette’s diary about the part where ladybug and chat noir are partners or rather teammates, she looks at griffe noire, as though she’s thinking of being teammates with him. it’s something she wants, and we know it’s something she truly wants by the end of the special
Tumblr media
also in this universe, emodrien has a crush on emonette, so what's preventing toxinelle to have a crush on griffe noire?
toxinelle isn’t happy, we can tell when she poured her heart out to ladyfly about everything and then finally about her crush thinking she’s lame all the time, but there isn’t much she can do if she wants her constant to continue be by her side
loneliness really does some fucked up things to a person huh?
the concept’s pretty fitting of a villain don’t you think? 🥲

I don't even have thoughts yet I'm like whatever I think everything on Taris and everything after Taris kind of feels like two separate games in my mind so like the first one I enjoyed a lot and then the second one was cool but just got progressively more aggravating and less engaging. In my opinion.

Chapters 1/1 (1,396 words) Rating: General Audiences Relationships: Emo Adrien Agreste/Emo Marinette Dupain-Cheng
Summary:
Spoilers for ML Paris Special. . . After meeting an alternate version of himself, Adrien decides to take the first steps towards making a new friend.
Takes place immediately after Paris Special!
Read on Ao3 or under the cut!!
.
She was holding his hand.
She was holding his hand.
After so long of being at each others’ throats, of feeling lost and lonely, the warmth of her hand in his felt like a dream. Like being pulled out of the ocean after so long drowning. Even after passing through the portal into their own world, she held on, and Adrien had trouble focussing on anything else around him. Hesperia was saying something, talking about their next moves to take down the Supreme, but the words simply passed through one ear and out the other as all he could do was stare down at where their hands were connected.
Why… Why hadn’t she let go?
His heart pounded in his chest, faster than he could ever remember it beating before. The pretty bakery girl was holding his hand, like she wanted to, as if he was more than just a stranger on the street to her. And, well, he supposed he was, considering they had been working together for months, albeit without liking each other or knowing one another at all. It was all new sensations and feelings, rushing through his body in a way that made his head swirl.
“...but we can reconvene later,” Hesperia said, on the tailend of some conversation that Adrien had missed entirely. “I think we could all use a little rest.”
Toxinelle— No, Ladybug stuck out her other hand, shaking with Hesperia as the fingers in the hand she held with Adrien’s squeezed just ever so slightly. Maybe that had been in his imagination though. “I agree,” she said. “I hope we can continue to work well together to take down the Supreme.”
“The feeling is mutual, Ladybug,” Hesperia replied. “And you, Griffe– uh…”
Adrien smiled. “I’m still working on it.”
Hesperia smiled back. “I wish you good luck figuring that out.” The butterfly hero folded his hands behind his back, regarding the both of them over his glasses. “I’d offer to show you both out, but I think you’ll find it’s the same way you came in the first time,” he supplied, a lilting tune to his voice.
Ladybug smiled wryly. “Yeah, sorry about that,” she said. “We’ll be going now! Good bye!”
She slipped her fingers from his hand, Adrien already feeling colder, to sling her yoyo through the exit.
“See ya!” he bid to Hesperia before following right after her. She headed towards the bakery– now he knew why— and Adrien couldn’t stop himself from following along. So what if his house was in the opposite direction. He wanted to spend just a few more minutes with her, if he could manage it.
She dropped down onto the bakery roof, quietly releasing her transformation and leaving behind Marinette, the bakery girl.
Adrien’s heart skipped a beat again at the sight of her.
He dodged behind the chimney stack on the end of her rooftop, suddenly nervous. He wasn’t sure how she would react to him being there. Everything was so new and their relationship was so… He wasn’t sure what. It was different.
“I saw you following me, fleabag,” she said, startling him. “No use hiding.”
Lithely, he jumped from his spot, landing in a crouch in front of her. He looked up at her through his bangs, watching her expression for that same old disdain he was used to. There was none.
“What is it?” she asked.
Adrien straightened, searching for the right words in his head. To be honest, he wasn’t sure what he wanted at all. All he knew was that he had been drawn to her, like a thread he had to chase. Other Adrien’s words rang through his head, and sudden clarity filled his being.
He wanted to make friends.
He couldn’t miss his chance.
An excited grin twitching on his lips, he let his transformation fall to match her, putting them both on equal footing. Keeping things neutral had always worked for the two of them in the past.
Marinette raised her eyebrow at him, and suddenly he was struck by how big and blue her eyes were. He had never seen them up so close before. She was so pretty.
“Well, I was thinking,” he said nervously, all his earlier bravado draining out of him now that she was looking at him with those eyes, “since I don’t have any friends, and you don’t have any friends—that I know of!” He glanced at her face, worrying he might find a glare, but instead she continued to just look at him with wide eyes. He cleared his throat, pushing through the rest of his request as he scratched at his cheek. “Maybe, if you want, we could be friends? With each other?”
Her mouth twitched into a small smile. Adrien had never seen her smile before. He found that it suited her quite nicely. His heart did a funny little flip in his chest.
“Okay.”
His jaw dropped. “I– uh– Okay?” he sputtered.
Her smile spread wider. “Yeah.”
“Even though I’m a rich jerk?”
“I guess I can let that go,” she teased. “This time.”
Unbridled happiness— is this what that other Adrien felt? All she did was say ‘okay’ and it was as though the heavens had opened. He was warm, starting in his chest and spreading from the inside out, a euphoria he had never felt before.
“Besides,” she continued, giving a small shrug of her shoulders, “I think you’ve grown on me a little in all this time.”
The delight only grew. “You mean, I’ve cat your attention?”
She shook her head, a frown on her face, but the corners twitched again, as if she was trying to hide a smile. “And you’re going to lose it if you keep up with your awful puns.”
“My claw-ful puns?”
“Watch it, whiskers,” she said, but, for once, there was no bite to her tone.
“Aw,” he cooed, loving the way her nose scrunched up at the sound. “You don’t mean that, buggy.”
“‘Buggy’?” she questioned. “What happened to ‘cockroach’?”
“Well, I’m not going to call my friend a cockroach, now am I?” he said. “Why? You don’t like it? I can workshop some more names.”
She laughed, and, wow, what a wonderful sound that was. “Maybe after you figure out your new name.”
“No, no, no.” He wagged a finger. “This is important.” He proceeded to stalk around her, acting as though he was appraising her like an art piece with a hand to his chin. Actually, he supposed, she was an art piece, not that he’d ever told her. Maybe he should. “What about…” he drawled, lengthening his vowels, “Scarab?”
She wrinkled her nose. “No.”
He hummed. “Buginette.”
A scoff.
“Spotify.”
“You’re joking.”
Her deadpan told him all he needed to know. Adrien stopped his stalking, once again standing in front of her. It had to be personal, something to tell her how much she meant to him, how happy he was to finally have someone he could call a friend in his life. Something to connect them. An idea lit up his brain.
“My lady.”
He could be wrong, but he thought she might have stuttered a breath. A dusting of pink settled on her cheeks. Oh! Oh, that was a good reaction, wasn’t it?
“You like that?” he asked. “My lady?”
She swallowed, eyes cast away from his face and down on his shoes. Her arms crossed over her chest. “I suppose that might be acceptable.”
He smiled. “My lady,” he repeated, the words rolling off his tongue as if they were always meant to. He bowed dramatically, smiling when he heard her soft chuckle. “I’m glad we could settle this.”
She snorted. “If you’re supposed to be a prince, we have some work to do.”
“Maybe not a prince, but I’ll happily be your knight.”
“I’ll hold you to it.”
His smile was practically bursting at the seams, stretching his cheeks wide enough for a dull ache to settle in. “I’ll let you enjoy your day. Until next time, my lady.” He called his transformation back, readying himself to head home.
“Until next time, Adrien,” she replied, another soft smile gracing her features.
He leapt from her roof, darting away as his heart beat a staccato against his ribcage. Next time he saw her, he would be seeing his new friend.
A friend.

Hi Ashely! Big fan of the Hunicast and everything else you, Michael, Ed, Dave, Elsie, and everyone else have been in/done over the past few years now. I discovered you and the Hunicast crew a few years back and enjoy listening to you guys, whether it be talking, singing, or just being goofy with each other.
So excited for the release of Far Fetched and new episodes of Lackadaisy and Digital Cirus.
Some of my favorite Hunicast episodes are the ones with Ed, Dave, and Elsie in them. They are extremely funny and make my day every time I listen to them.
(My favorite moment is the one where Ed gets Elsie’s name wrong and continues to get it wrong on purpose).
Hearing about the journey you have taken throughout the years has inspired me to pursue my love/passion for writing. I hope to be an author someday and hopefully my work can inspire others like your journey has inspired me.
I’ve never written to anyone who works in animation/voice acting before but I just wanted to let you know how much your work and journey is inspiring to me. Mental health is no joke!
My question is are any of the main characters from Far Fetched Disney fans? And are there going to be any Disney references in the series? Also is Elsie going to be in the show?
I hope you, Michael, and everyone else from the Huni crew all stay safe and hope to hear from you guys soon!
So excited for what comes next!!
Aw thank you so much for the message! I'm glad to have offered any inspiration for your journey. If you keep at it and write what you are passionate about I have no doubt you'll bring a lot of joy to many people.
As for your questionnnns. I think Rue would be into disney animated movies and she'd need to show Griff why everyone keeps calling him a disney princess. As for references we'll see what the crew manages to sneak in lol and I would absolutely LOVE to have Elsie in the show!

Songs that give the same vibe as the members. (from my perspective)
Genre. fluff.
warnings. None.
paring. Riize members x songs
a/n: all songs are linked via youtube:)
Shotaro: Anybody by shae,WIMY
Shotaro’s whole vibe radiates this song mainly because of the beat and way it’s sung. It’s just a song you can listen to whenever you are wanting to relax. It also makes me have crazy scenarios about him running through my mind… like a scenario of shotaro and you dating for months now and it’s the two of yall finally realizing you are in love with one another. Omg or even like a fake dating scenario where you two are fake dating so your parents will leave you two alone and you two actually fall in love…
Eunseok: Did you know that there's a tunnel under ocean blvd by lana del ray
The piano and violin are just so angelic which reminds me of how he is as a whole when looking at him. Eunseok just has that beauty that is unreal. A real life statue that took hours of hard work and perfection. The whole vibe of the song is beautifully sad to me, it represents growing older and leaving childhood behind and Eunseok had been a trainee since 2017, so he could probably get the feeling of the struggles of growing older during those times.
Sungchan: Heaven by Julia Michaels
Now listen… the man Sunghcan is. His vibe is really soft but sexy at the same time which is the exact vibe this song gives me. How am I not supposed to have the most mind boggling thoughts with this man living in the same lifetime as me… also this song is such a good song about sexual desire and getting it and Sungchan really comes to mind… also “they say all good boys go to heaven, but bad boys bring heaven to you” TELL ME THIS DOESN’T REMIND YOU OF HIM. (if you say no, you are wrong.)
Wonbin: Double take by dhruv
Pretty song for a pretty boy. First time I ever heard this song I got full body chills and felt myself levitating, which is the exact same reaction I had the first time I had seen Wonbin. This song gives summer fling vibes and when I tell you I have the thought of summer fling!wonbin x reader… It's crazy. Or falling in love with a friend you’ve been friends with forever, and I could totally see wonbin in the BFTL trope. The vocals also contribute very much to the vibe match… idk how to describe it but it’s just how it is.
Seunghan: Heart attack by Bronson, Odesza, Golden Features, lau.ra
I listen to this song often when going on drives or just sightseeing and the feeling I get when doing that is the exact same vibe I get from Seunghan… the beat goes crazy and seunghan makes me go crazy the exact same way. Like can you imagine late night drives or walks with Seunghan with this song playing… pure and raw euphoria. The excitement of falling in love but also the fear of unknown territory gives me such strong seunghan vibes.
Sohee: Vertigo by Griff
This song makes me so happy and makes everything feel unreal. Sohee when he smiles gives the same vibe to me (and so many others… i’ve seen the tweets lol). But also this song's vibes gives me coming of age movie vibes, and I can 100% see Sohee being in a show or movie with the same vibe. The song reflecting fears and the fear of being in love is something else I get the vibe from Sohee… I really don’t know why but I can see it.
Anton: Art deco by lana del ray
The whole vibe of the song is serving Anton. The soft singing but powerful instrumental and beat… anton in my opinion looks like Aphrodite chose him as her favorite of all her lifetime and spent ages crafting him to be the perfect reflection of beauty in people. This song always makes me want to lay in a field of flowers at night and watch the stars and planets exist, and the thought of doing it with Anton sends my brain into overdrive.

Hot take: Toxinelle's design for the most part isnt as great as everyone makes it out to be, much less it being groundbreaking or the best emo design, since it's barely anything new at all:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it's just her head that's amazingly designed and the fact that Ladybug's regular suit honestly couldn't set the bar any lower.
Griffe Noire on the other hand is actually punk through and through. Not giving a single shit what you think of his look and being the punkest bitch by even going with a feminine-coded name in the french original bc he doesn't care about your single-minded bs when you for some reason automatically think he MUST be female just because he has two "e"s in his name:
Tumblr media
One of these two got one hell of a save design where barely a single risk was taken so she remains universally pretty for every viewer
And the other one actually was allowed to embody a whole new fashion style and life style, that fits perfectly as an extension of his OG character, merely things went south.
In my opinion there is no competition who got the better character design.
It's the one that actually does something for the character besides looking pretty, cool and being inoffensively save.
I'll give you a hint: it ain't Toxinelle.
edit:
Just to clarify this, I'm not saying I fell out of love for Toxinelle's design to be a b*tch. I'm saying it from the stands of me wanting the show to put the same amount on effort into Marinette's designs as Adrien's.
Griffe Noire is allowed to be straight up punk and yet the most I can give Toxinelle is that her design is Gothic-INSPIRED:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again, her head is the most well designed part and especially the mask going underneath her chin, the amazing hair style and the conveniently fitting red-black color scheme works perfectly for Gothic.
As are her already incorporated gloves, the fact that she's wearing a mask in the first place and her dark makeup. Especially her vampire red eyes (like Monarque Bug, I love that detail) and I'll also give credit to how the upper red part of her body suit looks like a sleeveless dress and the little Ladybug symbol looking like a necklace.
All that combiened with her overall Gothic-elegance shows how AMAZING Toxinelle could have looked if they had for once taken an actual risk with her and prioritized what the fashion style is actually supposed to be over her looking universally pretty for every viewer.
I'm being nitpicky here because of how frustrating I find it that Griffe Noire has such a phenomenal character design, straight up one of the best in the show, and yet Marinette is still stuck with the same one-layer body suits a la "just this time the stripes go to the left"
Character design is not decided by if EVERYONE thinks they look great. The priority is what the character design does for the character. It's visual story telling.
I personally dress much more like Juleka or Emo Marinette in real life and yet in my opinion it's still crystal clear that Rose as Pigella has one of the best hero character designs because of how unapologetically ROSE it is:
Tumblr media
I personally don't have to want to wear it or even like it at all to think it's one of the best ones because of the simple fact that this design embodies Rose's PERSONALITY (as does her whole transformation) and tells me more about her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Especially in direct comparison with Griffe Noire, or even civilian emo Adrien probably wearing his dead mother's jacket while Adrien HAS TO keep dressing more low-key, Toxinelle barely tells me a thing about this Marinette's personality besides "slay Queen"
Because there IS no personality. The most you can get out of this is her being even more uptight and closed off because of how her collar directly blends into her mask, keeping her in a visual choke hold.
But that's mostly it. For Griffe Noire they explicitly went with punk fashion, meaning everything punk stands for can now be put into new context with Adrien.
But Toxinelle barely embodies a fashion style, she's just Gothic-INSPIRED (at most). And that's such a shame because Gothic, especially if you wanna use it in a darker way, was a PERFECT fashion style to utilize here.
The most common Gothic styles are inspired by Victorian funeral wear and give off an aura of authority, seriousness and melancholic detachment, being kept in the past (this is in no way meant as generalization, fashion is complex)
In what reality COULDN'T we have gone with that for Toxinelle? She would have been the perfect complimentary style for Griffe Noire by her side.
And we don't even need to go with a dress. Gothic women wear pants too:
Tumblr media
Can you imagine how amazing she could have looked as an actual goth? How much visual story telling through FASHION they could have put into her design when the evil Ladybug is a vampire goth whose fashion is inspired by funeral wear??
Yes, I AM pissed.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Dany antis' "metas" about how Dany is totally naive about Westeros really shows they just haven't read the books, or at least not her chapters. They'll rant about how she expects the people to just bow down to her, when in reality that was how Viserys (and later Young Griff) thought due to Illyrio's words. Meanwhile Dany, "mistrusted Illyrio's sweet words as she mistrusted everything about Illyrio." (AGOT Daenerys I) Dany knows that it takes more than a name or even dragons to be worthy to rule. That's a major piece of what sets her apart from other rulers in ASOIAF.
Robert took the throne because he was the foremost head of the rebellion and had some Targaryen blood. Joffrey and Tommen rule(d) because of their perceived relation to Robert. Stannis laid his claim based on being Robert's brother. Renly laid his not only because of blood, but also popularity with the lords and sheer number of troops. Robb was crowned because he was his father's son.
Dany knows she how fickle allegiance owed to a name is, she knows how the lords turned on her family and saw the hospitality in Essos fade when she and Viserys had nothing. She also knows simply scaring them into following her with dragons and armies won't work, she scared the shit out of the masters in Astapor and Yunkai, yet as soon as she turned her back they went back to slaving. In Meereen, she had her armies and her titles, yet the Sons of the Harpy constantly defied her.
Dany knows the Westerosi people won't just bow to her when she arrives (though stories of her are causing quite a stir lmao), she knows she will have to fight for her throne and make alliances. She understands that she will have to prove herself to the people and lords, after all, why else would they follow her? Her Khalasar only followed her after she proved herself strong, the Unsullied followed her when she proved just (after she freed them), Barristan Selmy swore himself to her only after observing her for a long period, and the rest of the Dothraki will follow her only after she proves herself once again.
Every time Dany has lead, it's because she proved herself to be worthy following, not because she's a Targaryen or the Mother of Dragons. Why would she suddenly forget this when she gets to Westeros? Well bad writing is the answer in the show, which is why in the books, she won't just become entitled.
There's different character who already has that characteristic: Young Griff. He expects the lords of Westeros to follow him against the Lannisters and Baratheons without question and for Dany to swear herself and her dragons to him and even marry him simply because he is (supposedly) the son of Rhaegar. Young Griff is a subversion of the lost prince trope, he is not only a fake but also exhibits qualities reminiscent of Joffrey (according to Tyrion), so not exactly a great candidate for king. Yet Dany antis insist on putting the sense of entitlement on Dany while portraying "Aegon" as a true heir and worthy king that evil Dany will kill in her lust for power.
Dany antis will formulate arguments against her purely out of thin air and shitty writing. They will ignore any and all actions she has done when ruling and when talking about it, rather choosing to force their fanon ideas on her and give her true qualities to their favs instead.

The big Robert Baratheon thoughts
There are several characters within the ASOIAF universe who could comfortably be the protagonist of their own book/series, and GRRM has spoken about how, when writing a character, he tries to see all the major events through their eyes and how it would have affected their lives. Dany and Oberyn are good examples of this, and a shorter book/series could comfortably have either one of them as the main character. If a fic writer is looking for any inspiration, I think a lot could be drawn from Dany in Vaes Toloro.
Another of them is a character who almost seems like a false protagonist in GOT: King Robert Baratheon. The people who don't know him think he's amazing, the people who do know him despise him. He has a fleshed-out backstory, character and the power to influence the plot in many different ways. Yet he's killed off quickly, and I think the fan community often overlooks him as a simple drunken idiot. So I'd like to dig a little deeper.
Robert's life can easily be sectioned into three parts: pre-rebellion era, the rebellion era and the post-rebellion era. Most of what we see comes from Ned Stark, and later we have flashbacks from Cersei which show a much darker and thoroughly rotten man.
To start: Robert is the first born son of House Baratheon, a clan with significant power and influence. He's exactly the kind of young man the Westerosi patriarchal "might makes right" system rewards -- the sort of son Randyl Tarly would love to have. He's an excellent fighter, charming, good looking ("muscled like a maiden's fantasy", oh Ned). There's also a kindness there. When he's fostered at the Eeire he sends for a gift of oranges for Jon Arryn, and although the fruit goes bad, he's not upset and instead plays with the other teenagers. It's silly and funny and the most childish we ever see him.
He isn't always lovely, of course. In Stannis' memory, Robert is unpleasant. He mocks Stannis' falcon and, therefore, Stannis himself. However, Stannis is a miserable shit, and this comment comes after they've spent years disliking each other, so there's obvious bias. Robert seemed to be happy to be away from his family, and so some alienation from his brothers does make sense. Robert and Stannis go through the ordeal of watching their parents die, and it's understandable that this would cause issues in their relationship. Perhaps that's why they pushed each other away. Having a walking, whining reminder of that trauma can't have been pleasant, and the desire to pretend that everything is ok and ignore problems gets more persistent as the years go on.
The third thing we hear about from Robert's pre-rebellion era is his relationship with Mya Stone. I'm not totally clear on the timeline, so I don't know if it's 1. parents' death > 2. Mya's birth > 3. the rebellion or if 1 and 2 are the other way around. Either way, Robert seems to adore his daughter. Ned thinks about how frequently they visited her, and how much Robert enjoyed spending time with her. In a kinder story, Robert would have always been close to Mya. Then the rebellion starts.
There are, of course, lots of things which lead to the rebellion. I don't think Tywin was going to put up with the Mad King for much longer, and Rhaegar felt the same way. Then you have the coalition between the Starks, Baratheons, Tullys and Arryns, and at some point Varys and "Young Griff" would have popped up. For Robert, though, things were straightforward: he wanted Lyanna, and Rhaegar took her away. He remarks to Ned that "Seven Kingdoms couldn't fill the whole she left". It's clear that he didn't actually know Lyanna that well, and it could easily be argued that the reason he worshipped her memory was a mix of affection for Ned and a desire to return to a time where he wasn't traumatised.
Obviously, war is traumatic. That's kind of the point of the series. Everyone who fought in Robert's Rebellion is changed in some way and the scars, literal and metaphorical, run deep. Stannis broods over his "rewards". Ned misses his sister, brother and father. Catelyn is aware of the loss of her betrothed, and Lady Dustin crystalises her rage. Jamie is ostracised and bitter. Jon Connington promises more violence. The list goes on. The things Robert sees during the campaign clearly change him, and this brings us back to Mya.
One of the key themes of the series, most prominently in the first book, is the idea that the innocent should not be sacrificed. That's why Ned works so hard to protect Jon and why he resigns his handship when Robert wants to kill Dany. Something happened to Robert during the rebellion, where his hatred of the Targaryens solidifies so much that it becomes the only thing he really wants. Other things, like his love of his daughter or the belief that children should be protected, all go and he's left with Tywin Lannister and the corpses of Rhaenys and Aegon.
Robert doesn't have to make peace with the Lannisters. In fact, lots of people (the Starks, the Dornish and the people of King's Landing) would be much happier if he didn't. Tywin ordered a horrific thing, and Robert rewarded him. For me, this is where Robert becomes the man we meet in Game of Thrones. He's so broken inside that he does nothing, and tries to pretend that he's still the person he was as a teenager.
After the rebellion, Robert goes on to have plenty more children. If he loved Mya and wanted to see her all the time, after the rebellion he forgets her. And she's the lucky one! Robert must know that Cersei has his twins drowned, he ignores Barra and Gendry, and he only acknowledges Edric Storm because he has to. Then there are the kids who are legally "his", even if biologically they're not. I don't think we ever see him interact with Tommen or Myrecella, and his relationship with Joffrey isn't good. Sure, Joffrey is a little shit, but you could argue that it's partially because of Robert's treatment. Stannis thinks, at one point, that Robert might have killed Joffrey because he hit him so hard.
Why does Robert detach? Well, there's the trauma, the general depression, the loneliness, the disconnect between *conceiving* children and *the actual children*. I think, as well, there's the knowledge that, by allowing Tywin to get away with the murder of the Targaryen children, he's set a precedent whereby the same thing could easily happen to his own kids. If someone needed to get rid of Robert -- and there are people who would like him gone -- they would come after Joffrey, Tommen and Myrecella, and perhaps his bastards, too. He can't protect them, and it shames his chivalric ideals, so he disconnects, doesn't care, and drinks excessively. It might be a way of dealing with guilt, or a way he protects himself from losing anyone else. Ultimately, Joffrey, Tommen and Myrecella are doomed; Edric only escaped sacrifice because of Pylos and Davos, and might well get mixed up in a Varys/"Young Griff" scheme; all of the bastards in King's Landing are killed; and if Gendry survives, it's because of plot armour. Nobody cares about Mya, really.
There's plenty to say about the Robert/Cersei match. Firstly, I'd like to mention how much I enjoy the show-only scene where the two discuss their marriage. It's heartbreaking, well written and beautifully acted, and gives some depth which makes the experience richer.
None of the Lannisters like Robert, with the exception of Tyrion. Tyrion likes Robert because Cersei doesn't, but their creepy and destructive bond is a whole other issue. Ned thinks that Robert was a man with "big appetites", and a clear desire to be loved. It probably means he wasn't ever going to be a good husband, which Lyanna points out (in a line which I cannot imagine a 14-year old ever saying, but I digress). Robert loved the thrill of the chase and the first few weeks of a relationship, but wasn't willing to really emotionally attach to anyone. Perhaps it's because, like with his children, he had to keep people away in case he lost them, like Lyanna.
Cersei is her own woman and, to be honest, not a very good wife. Robert thinks he would have been happy with Lyanna, Cersei thinks she would have been happy with Rhaegar: both are wrong. She starts her wedding day by having sex with her brother; she regularly cuckolds her husband, and then she finishes off by murdering her husband. You could argue that her behaviour is driven by Robert's physical and sexual abuse, and his emotional distance and obvious disdain. I don't think that's incorrect, per se, I just think there's a nasty mix with the two of them. They're bad alone and worse together. They're a toxic, unhappy, traumatised mix, and a solid argument for Westerosi divorce.
Finally, there's Robert's alcoholism and his love of food. There are a number of reasons for this -- the genre's enthusiasm for descriptions of feasts; parallels with Henry VIII of England; possibly GRRM simply likes adding his favourite meals, similar to how he created House Estermont so there could be turtles, because he had pet turtles. Obesity is the sort of thing that's pretty common in middle age men who used to be very physically active, because they had to eat lots to make up their calorie deficit, and when the exercise stopped, the food continued. As for alcohol, it gives Robert an opportunity to forget his (admittedly plentiful) responsibilities and woes, makes him feel like a hero, and gives him an excuse for his abuse of Cersei. He rapes her, and when she brings it up, he says "it was not me, but the wine", then REACHES FOR A BEER. I'm certainly not qualified to talk about addiction and trauma, so if anyone has thoughts on this, please add a comment.
In Shakespeare's Macbeth, the eponymous character snatches the crown at his wife's goading, and then finds that things disintegrate around him. There's a scene in the play where two servants talk about what's going on in Scotland, and one says that two horses fought, and one ate the other. When a monarch is usurped, in literature, nature goes against itself. In real life, revolutions are messy and complicated and difficult. Robert Baratheon fought a rebellion to get his fiance back, whilst others used him and worked alongside him for their own reasons. He was left holding a rotten crown. Abused and abuser, surrounded by toxicity and exuding his own hatred, one could easily create a novel about his disillusionment.

'i hate you' and then hand you a bunch of flowers and run away screaming 'I FOUND THOSE FOR YOU'
he does this thing where he runs up behind you and jumps on your back
he wants piggyback rides constantly
pouts like a little baby when you say no
drop him askgjdkslfnk
ALSO
griffin gets so annoyed at everything
'hey griff sorry i'm late-'
'WHERE WERE YOU I COULD HAVE DIED OR BEEN MAULED BY A MOUNTAIN GOAT OR BEEN TIED TO A TREE OR BEEN SEVERELY INJURED AND THEN COULD HAVE DIED IN THE HOSPITAL???'
'are you done'
'yes.'
btw you walk together to and from school and when his class is over he waits by the front door since your classroom is a little further away
the nicknames for each other i can't-
he calls you meanie, bully, jerk, and some insane variation of your name
what i mean is like if your name starts with k you're koala
or if it's j you're jellyfish
yk?
an animal that starts with the first letter of your name is one of your nicknames
you're griffin's favorite person
he loves you so much but has no idea how he can show that
so he just kinda tries to show you physical affection sometimes but it's kinda awkward😭
like he'll come up to you and hug you and then both of you at the same times when he lets go
'no'
'nuh uh'
and you just kinda avoid each other until dinner or smth😭😭
griffin is really good at brushing hair
like he's a personal stylist <3
overprotective in a subtle way
idk how to explain it
but he's always like
'you forgot your lunch'
or
'here's your water' *realizes he's being too nice* '...jerk'
RUFFLE HIS HAIR IT MAKES HIS DAY
CAUSE HE DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO SHOW AFFECTION TOWARDS YOU BUT HE LOVES WHEN YOU GIVE HIM AFFECTION
soft smiles from griff !!!

HEY SO FIRST OF ALL I ADORE YOUR BLOG THX FOR EXISTING!!<3
second, do you think Miura fully ommiting Griffith getting tortured visually was intentional? I mean, Berserk never shys away from grotesque subjects (SA, explicit murder and much much more).
We did get Griffith's mindset, and how Guts was the one who was keeping his sanity through all this.
But we never got like,, Griffith crying, screaming, or anything really while he was getting tortured. It's like, they ommited the torture Griff went through, and I wonder why?
Because I mean, it's not that im a wierd sadist who wants to see that, it's more like, a lot of the berserk fandom ignores and neglects the pain Griff went through when he was tortured for over a year if i am correct?
And I wonder if it's because we didn't get a chance to see his pain through it and more of the aftermath.
I don't fully know where i'm going with this, but i wonder why explicit facial and physical reactions while Griff was tortured was kept away.
Could it be to shook us when we see his current state? or was it for another reason? I'm curious!
Thank you very much!
Honestly lol I think the Griffith-hating fandom would downplay it no matter what, there's no salvaging that side of fandom.
My instinctive answer for why Miura only really showed the aftermath of the torture is for the torture chamber reveal that it was worse than Guts ever anticipated. He, and a lot of the other Hawks, have this attitude that he expects to rescue Griffith and then everything will go back to normal for everyone, and they can all just pick up where they left off. I think there's a certain effective atmosphere created by showing Guts' optimistic denial while the reader is left to stew in ominous awareness that it's probably worse than Guts thinks (since we know about Femto already) without fully knowing how much worse.
And then yeah when they do see him and we can see that Griffith is beyond recovery, it is an effective, disturbing reveal imo that wouldn't have had the same impact if we'd already seen the state Griffith was in.
There's also the fact that in theory your imagination is worse than anything that can be shown to you - something a lot of horror relies on. Actually seeing Griffith screaming while being tortured eg would be a release of tension, like oh okay it's bad, but at least we know how bad now. Without seeing it we can imagine a lot worse than Miura would have narrative space to show, both in terms of torture and Griffith's emotional reaction. For those of us who care about Griffith at least, which is the intended audience of the story lol.
Thanks for the ask!

rewatching banana fish and realising that when Ash goes back to Cape Cod he has to deal with the memories of his dead older brother, who essentially raised him, on top of everything else. I wonder if he went into griff’s room when everyone else was gone or if he couldn’t bring himself to do it and stood at the threshold before turning and shutting the door. I wonder if he looked at the empty house and saw griff’s silhouette in the kitchen, heard his steps on the stairs. It’s not talked about enough, but Ash was grieving. He probably couldn’t sleep under the same roof he used to share with his brother, he was probably laying awake wishing he’d gotten to say goodbye properly. Of course he wouldn’t show how badly the grief was getting to him, instead he wakes up at the crack of dawn and finds a distraction in the sound of ringing gunshots and breaking glass bottles, and he misses and he misses and he shouldn’t be because he doesn’t have that luxury. He doesn’t have the luxury of grief.
