“Becca… calm down. I got you. It’s alright…” Angie speaks softly, tenderly as she leans to kiss Becca into calm, noting the way Becca’s trembling steadies as she holds her closer, stroking her back and hair gently. She knows how shy Becca can be about their love, much more so about admitting they have an open but loving relationship. “You really plan on saving Christmas?” “It’s kinda my job.” Angie teases softly, moving to gather her phone from it’s charger and starting to text someone, pausing to glance over at Becca. “You know Willow Maitland?” “I… know she’s famous, and I do watch her show… but that’s about it.” “Perfect.” Angie purrs, sending the text and pulling up the photo she had taken just last night, moving to show Becca the photo. “Wait, you and Willow?” “Mmm, when she’s not busy….” “She’s beautiful Angie… Do you think…” “She’ll adore you, I’m sure.” “Does she know about…. Us.” “Yeah. I know about you.” Willow’s voice gets a flinch from Becca, then a blush, Angie barely hiding her laugh as she strokes Becca’s back, moving to hug Willow when she comes closer, moving past her to lock the door behind her, watching Becca with Willow, aware how nervous Becca could be. “Shall we get this taping done?” Angie’s voice is gentle and Becca smiles as she nods, moving to sit in front of the camera, noting the way Willow smiles as she settles, then breaks the quiet of the room with a quiet murmur. “It’s nice to finally meet you Becca…” The Christmas Show gets taped, Becca sending the recording to the TV company, Willow smiling once it’s sent and moving to hug Angie and Becca, her voice soft. “I’ll leave you two to… talk…” “No.” Becca’s voice is quick, light and Willow pauses, glancing back at Becca and Angie, unsure what to do or say next. “Stay… I’d… I’d like to at least try a proper… a proper date. Together.” Willow smiles, returning to the sofa Angie and Becca are sharing, settling beside Becca and kissing her cheek softly. “Alright…” Later Shade would watch them together and smile, Angie seems more relaxed, Becca more confident and Willow has a new way to stand out, they suit each other, all together.

also, on the subject of sam winchester's two canonical obsessions (serial killers and esoteric podcasts):

wouldn't it be funny if sam and jess met at like. true crime trivia night at their local dive bar. and they get put on the singles team with other people who came without an established trivia team, but it becomes pretty clear pretty quick that they're gonna be the stars of this show.

jess raised on a steady diet of pulp crime paperbacks and crime reporting television, who has all kinds of gory shit rattling around in her head, who can identify what hideous once-in-a-century murder is depicted in grainy grayscale crime scene photos in under thirty seconds, who can quote verbatim from over two dozen ransom notes, who's obsessed with people who disappeared mysteriously, never to be seen or heard from again. and sam, who's been raised... well, who's been raised the way he's been raised.

they get on like a house on fire. (the irony of that is lost on both of them.)

finally, somebody who doesn't think it's weird to have real theory about what happened to the sodder children, none of that sicilian mafia nonsense. someone who can speak intelligently about the prevalence of killings in national parks and protected forests. someone whose eye will snag on headlines like "couple found slain; county sheriff to hold conference today" and "charred corpse still unidentified" and flip through to find whatever column inches have been allotted to the day's worst happenings. someone who can name drop cold cases and milk carton kids like a memorized major league roster -- the boy in the box, the babes in the woods, the lyon girls, the des moines register newspaper boys; angie samota, bobby dunbar, alfred beilhartz, charley ross, dorothy ann distelhurst, everett ruess, glen and bessie hyde, marjorie west.

(jess who's so hyped to show sam an article she found about the twentieth anniversary of a mysterious fire where a young mother died and her two young children vanished, presumably with her husband in the aftermath. "isn't that crazy?" she tells him, brandishing a xerox, all cheshire-cat meet-in-the-back-of-her-head grin. "they had the same last name as you!"

(Adalynn's POV)

We're in the second trimester now, and I've hit that burst of energy I usually get around this time. I feel a lot more in control of things and I can plan a lot of my day and actually stick to the plan without being waylaid by sickness or fatigue.

(AN: I hadn't actually picked a name for this kid, which is ironic because this is classic last-kid-in-a-fundie-family treatment. I went through the game provided names and Everett was nice and actually worked for the vibe I have going for these people and their offspring.)

Speaking of pregnancy, Lorilee had her baby! She and Charles welcomed little Everett Collins into their family at San Myshuno General hospital. Lorilee gloriously laboured for 30 hours with her little guy, and she and Charles updated us constantly with either video calls or message updates. Lorilee's mum and sister flew into the city last week to help the new parents as they adjust to their newest addition. My parents and Ashton are planning on stopping by on their way to see Zoe and Francisco, with all of us spread around the country my parents have definitely gained a tonne of flying and road miles travelling all over to see us. Soon enough we'll all be together for Parker and Lana's wedding.

We had a little birthday party for little Joshua, he turned 6 years old and is ready to join his brothers in full time schooling! We've been doing kindergarten level work with him to get him ready for grade 1 schoolwork, I've got the main materials that I've used with the other boys but I will order him his own workbook to use for this school year. He's going to be the 7th student our school table, and because of the baby coming around the time school is starting my mother in law, Angie, will be taking over the boys schooling until I can be up and about after the baby.

My mother-in-law has been a blessing to me since the day I met her, but whenever I'm pregnant she goes above and beyond to be available to help. She's come over and helped with school on days when I couldn't separate myself from the toilet, she's helped Mason get them ready for church on days when I couldn't do it myself, she even brought over meals whenever I couldn't cook. Everytime we announce that there's a new baby on the way she celebrates as if it's her first grandbaby, the boys are absolutely in love with their Mimi - as Angie likes to be called.

We are so grateful to be have this family of ours where we have been blessed with 8 (soon to be 9) blessings that have given us reasons to constantly celebrate. Joshua asked for his birthday outing to be to our local pizza place, so one day Mason got off work early so we could take him out to eat his birthday treat. Our different friends and family have sent him such wonderful gifts, be it a toy, a card, some money, or books.
