Akk had known that moving in with Aye for university was a bad idea. He just hadn’t known how much of a bad idea until he was constantly being forced to choose between not flunking out and kisses.

“Akk?” Aye whined from the bed behind him.

Akk closed his eyes, praying for patience as he worked to finish the last few paragraphs of an essay at his desk. Aye had been doing so well at keeping quiet. Akk should have known it was too good to be true. He continued typing, determined not to outwardly react. Aye was like a puppy. If you ignored him for long enough, sometimes he would forget he wanted attention in the first place.

“Akk?” Aye asked again, his voice closer this time. Akk started typing faster. “Akk, are you done yet?” His arms wrapped around Akk’s neck from behind and his chin dropped onto Akk’s shoulder. Akk half-heartedly swatted him away, but Aye didn’t move, just held on tighter.

“Five more minutes, Aye!”

But Aye had apparently waited long enough. “It’s after midnight. Pay attention to me.”

“Five more minutes,” Akk said again. “I’m almost done.”

Aye huffed out his disappointment but let him go and Akk sighed in relief, thinking he’d actually managed to win this round. He was, unfortunately, wrong. Instead of retreating to the bed as Akk had expected, Aye went on the defensive, pulling Akk’s chair away from the desk by force. Akk squawked out his indignation, but before he could scoot the chair back where it belonged, Aye had circled around and climbed on top of his lap so that he was straddling him.

“Aye!” he cried out in surprise, but he was laughing as Aye, sleep-soft, nuzzled into the warmth of his neck.

“The essay isn’t due tomorrow,” Aye whined. “Come to bed.”

“You’re so needy,” Akk argued, but he was way too fond to be angry. Aye hummed in agreement and then grabbed Akk’s hand and placed it on top of his head like a cat asking for pets. Akk did as requested, running his fingers through Aye’s hair, and preened when Aye let out a satisfied moan at his touch.

“You’re seriously not going to let me finish this?” Akk asked after a minute of cuddling.

Aye shook his head and then sat up to level Akk with the full force of his pout. “You’ve been working for hours. I can’t fall asleep without you. Come to bed.”

Akk knew that he should at least pretend to be angry to keep from encouraging such dependent behavior, but he couldn’t stop smiling. God, he was so in love. “Fine!” he growled, kissing the pout right off of Aye’s lips. “But just remember: you’re the one that’s going to have to support me financially if I flunk out.”

Aye nodded eagerly. “We can go to bed now?”

Instead of answering, Akk grabbed Aye’s ass in his hands and stood, picking the smaller boy up. Aye cried out in surprise, wrapping both his legs and his arms around Akk tightly, but it wasn’t difficult to carry him a few feet across the room to the bed they shared. He tossed Aye on it and climbed on top of him, kissing the laughter from his lips.

It was another couple of hours before they actually managed to sleep.
