i understand the matt hate bc he actually does add very little to the storyline - other than contributing as a willing bloodbag for elena i guess?? - but like while i do think in terms of narrative he is bland as a character, in personality he's a huuuge catch. he's so sweet, kind, loyal, friendly, and trustworthy, and protective over his sister (before she died) and his friends... and it does help that he's the only male character on tvd (other than maybe jeremy) who didn't put female characters in life threatening situations or abuse them (side eyes d.amon, st.efan, kl.aus, and yes even s1 t.yler, although imo he has improved considerably and is nowhere near any of those other men in terms of morality)
and proceeding with that last train of thought matt was a bit unfair to caroline in their relationship (making their relationship feel inadequate as compared to his and elena's, talking about how he and elena used to make out - right in front of her and stefan?? and making her feel insecure, more so than she always was, especially considering her history of feeling lesser than elena... the list goes on lol) and jeremy did cheat on bonnie (mainly because the writers couldn't properly close his romantic storylines without jumping into a new one) but ya know i would take those kinds of guys any day over actual r.apists and sexual assaulters or murderers
"Firstly, Rose is neither shallow nor stupid. She doesn’t settle for second best. She gets the person she fell in love with. And, as a bonus, he’s now able to spend the rest of his life with her, as she with him. Secondly, the very same person who experienced the heartbreak of losing Rose for the first time now experiences joy at the prospect of a lifetime in her company. In this full sense, the Doctor who lost, finally wins.” — Paul Dawson, Doctor Who and Philosophy: Bigger on the Inside
It's some kind of poetic justice that the thing people are talking about the most about the Teen Wolf movie, the part that's left such a big impact, that's had such an intense reaction, isn't the Scott and Allison reunion storyline as Jeff and Posey intended and wanted, it's Derek Hale's death.
Once again, the lead character and his story is overshadowed by someone else. If Jeff thinks that by finally getting rid of the one remaining character that was more loved than the lead, that people would finally "watch for the right reasons" now, then he was dead wrong. Because there's no chance of any future sequels happening now. The few who were watching will become even fewer now that the fan favourite is gone.
In this scene where Tyler Galpin deliberately scratched himself in the chest and then proceeded to make a scene, Xavier used his own scarf to cover up the gash. which was a total waste
Wednesday placed her hands over Xavier’s.
Then she looked up at him, surprised. Wednesday was aware of the bitter history shared between the two boys, how Tyler and his goons had assaulted Xavier and destroyed his mural.
For a split second, Wednesday looked doubtful of her own suspicions of Xavier being the Hyde. Xavier didn’t need to help Tyler, his tormentor at all. Yet for some reason, he still did. Can a true monster be capable of such an act of kindness?
It’s still insane how that side of tvdu fandom vilifies Tyler for choosing to get revenge on the man that killed his mother and friends instead of staying with Caroline, all because they needed an excuse to make Klaus look like the better choice for Care. Which is insane because he has physically harmed Caroline and almost killed her, yet somehow him doing that isn’t terrible as Tyler growling at Caroline bc she slept with the man who tortured him and again, has killed his mother…
“Tyler slut shamed her”… when all he stated was that she slept with Klaus. Even in show, they have Stefan punching him and acting as if he said something egregious [Them completely forgetting all the times they have Caroline call other female characters sluts or insinuate it, but ofc the writers and fandom have selective memory when it comes to certain characters] when Tyler had the right to be upset over his girlfriend sleeping with the man who destroyed his life.
This is the same side that calls Bonnie a terrible friend because she didn’t immediately warm up to Caroline being a vampire. Even though Caroline had literally killed an innocent person—Even though Bonnie made her a daylight ring not too long after. But this is the TVD fandom we’re talking about, so of course black and poc character’s feelings are not an importance to them. It’s interesting how they are so quick to infantilize and baby white characters, yet the black/poc chars are supposed to easily move on from their trauma, deal with it, and prioritize their white counterparts over themselves.
I hate when people (Scott stans) say Derek didn't care about his betas. Um? He literally broke when Boyd and Erica died and he definitely cared about Issac?
This scene? When Stiles comforted him? That's Derek's face looking at Boyd's body. He's about to burst into tears
And when Derek carried Erica's body?
He's completely numb with grief. As an Alpha his betas were basically his children, and he lost two of them back to back. He cared about them.
