Oh, hm, this is an interesting question. Also, thanks, I'm doing my best! Sorry I haven't put up anything new lately, I have a WIP rn for an ask but haven't felt like doing vore stuff for a bit. Anyway! I guess this is more phrased towards like...do I find anything too intense within vore-related stuff? Which is to say, noooot generally. You could say I'm into the more "extreme stuff". I like cruelty and degradation and betrayal and explicitness in terms like "kill" and "die" when describing digestion, especially if there's an extreme casualness to it. Of course, this is more "niche" so if my writing doesn't really reflect that it's cause I try to be a bit "softer" if I'm not asked for something of this nature directly.

However, I have a couple of hard 'No's and outright turnoffs, such as anything relating to m.preg and content of that nature (kinda comes up in vore spaces a lot due to being grouped in with general 'belly kink' content) and I'm not a fan of outright gross-out stuff. While I enjoy disposal in vore, it's not because I also have a scat fetish, if that makes sense? And I'm not much of a fart guy, either. I guess with pec vore, I really don't like nipple/milk stuff, either. And I generally don't find anything satisfying in safe vore or vore with reformation, though I do enjoy them moreso as plot points. Another kinda funny one is that I don't like it when hair is brought up in vore during the eating or disposal process. This is, for whatever reason, distinct from fur or body hair in my head. Can't tell you what's going on there.

I think other things I have an aversion to are less related to vore, but there is one that comes up a lot regardless of this: piercings are a big, fat turnoff. I almost always lose interest in anything that involves characters having piercings. Absolutely can't stand 'em.

Last book I read: I’m currently part way through The Left Hand of Darkness (Ursula K Le Guin) and Exhalation (Ted Chiang), and am in a constant state of rereading Pride and Prejudice. Honestly just been writing more than reading lately but I really want to finish these two books! I also devoured The New Topping Book as fuel for my Steel Weave kink adventures, lmao.

Greatest literary inspiration: Pride and Prejudice. Austen in general. (Story time) I once dated a guy who dismissed her books out of hand as ‘gossipy’, and then literally days later proceeded to tell me that when drinking with his bestie, they loved to ‘analyse other people’s personalities.’ What he thought he had that Austen didn’t, I don’t know. (God, the sexism. And yes, I did tell him that what he was doing was in fact also gossiping).

Austen sketches people in all their ignorance and kindness and flaws and virtues at once, whilst being deeply funny about it. I love her work.

Things in my current fandom I want to read but I don't want to write:

Generally I’ve read and enjoyed for all of the tadpole gang and all sorts of other characters, but aside from having them feature in my Rolan fics the urge doesn’t strike me to write about them. My thoughts are extremely occupied with just the one guy.

Things in my current fandoms I want to write but I think nobody would be interested in them but me: Unhinged kink fics. If I ever write them, I’ll probably post on an alt account, because I think my current subscribers probably aren’t looking for [redacted niche kink] lol

I honestly don’t know if I’ve got a particularly recognisable style - it varies a lot between the fandoms I write in, I think. I’m not given to lots of purple prose but neither is my writing spare. I overdo it on facial expressions, that’s for sure!

My most controversial take ( current fandom):

In an absolute shocker, I don’t enjoy dom!Rolan at all, or see it as particularly in-character. But you could guess that already if you’re following me lol. I filter all related tags/content liberally…

Current writing mood (10 – super motivated and churning out words like crazy, 0 – in a complete rut): It was a 9-10, and has been for months - but this week I’ve been smacked in the face with a real stumbling block so I’ll give it a (hopefully temporary) 6-7

Top three favourite tropes: Oooh. Ahhhh. Forced Proximity - only one bed, handcuffed together, trapped in a lift - whatever. Just make those people boil over with desire because they CANNOT AVOID the person they’re desperately trying to. Arguing. I love steamy argumentative kissing in stories. Forbidden Love. I am ESPECIALLY a huge fan of priests/nuns/religiously celibate breaking their vows, but doctor/patient is good too (Harvey SDV my beloved), or university professor/student, or sworn members of separate factions. Whatever. I want that sexual tension to be so fucking scorching it breaks through every barrier, and their love to conquer all.

Share a random frustration: Chapter 10 of Planar Tears. It’s coming along now but - I don’t like falling behind schedule! It’s also once again illustrated to me that although outlining is useful, at some points my characters will just develop a mind of their own. I just realised that after the last two extremely dramatic plot chapters - there needs to be a similarly dramatic step in Rolan and Catrin’s relationship as payoff. I think that’s the issue, anyway. I’d written a load of relatively lowkey flirty fluff and it just. Wasn’t. Hitting. I have honestly entered the stage of ‘please fucking kill me I no longer know if this writing is good’ and think I just have to weather the storm here!

actually im not super into shipping i think? i definitely value being able to imagine a dynamic for even the nichest pairings and have a lot of fun stretching or emphasizing certain parts of each characters' personalities to get them to work the best while opening up the potential for some development on each characters' side (thats exactly why im doing the ship bingo! its a ton of fun!), but theres very few things i actually like. Ship beyond surface level thoughts tbh. and recently the things i actually do ship have gotten increasingly niche. so enjoy this ramble that mostly pertains to specifically me and only me LMAO /lh

people might be able to tell ive been getting very into dametaberge. oh my god im so insane. no one look at me. dmk+jambacult found family Real. i have like three comics in my drafts for them. its mostly dametaberge thoughts rn but i like to think susie joins them later to make a poly ship. dmk and susie are a little tense at first but susie is, "like so over her knight phase," as she says, which dmk is extremely conflicted about whether to be offended or relieved at. and then they learn how to relax around each other and are always the two in the relationship to have awful destructive ideas, which flamberge vetos or approves of on a case by case basis. they get very happy and excited when flamberge approves of their awful plans

and of course my beloved gsa ships.............. theres falsgato which i am incredibly insane about thanks to my friend dragging me into it and now its a thing in my animeverse. enemies to friends to lovers I KEEP SAYING IM SO WEAK FOR THAT. dragato was a huge asshole to falspar for Various reasons regarding the nature of the gsa and perhaps dragatos own personal insecurity, but once they lost the war they got to bond since dragato like, realized how little the shit he antagonized falspar for actually mattered in the first place. and falspars a guy who really sees the best in people and ahahahghdjk its a whole thing its a whole thing i wont go into it rn LOL

theres also metarthur which is my very very beloved longtime rarepair. which i um. uh. ahahahah............. i get very slightly nervous talking about on main because a lot of people hc arthur as meta knights dad or parental figure but i shouldnt be nervous about hc differences really....... anyways theyre supposed to be like parallels of each other. people who are opposites thematically (arthur being leader of the gsa; mk being a former deeply infamous demon beast) who find themselves in similar positions in that they both kinda struggle with their sense of purpose vs their sense of self. meta knight sees his past struggles in arthur and so he finds himself drawn to him. he cant really Solve his situation, but (during their war-time relationship specifically) he hopes to offer some solace to him which functions as a form of catharsis to mk himself too. the two get to connect and understand each other in a unique way. i wont get too into this one right now either lol since the dynamic changes a lot depending on if its their during-war relationship or post-war relationship but theres the basics. i have a comic expanding on their general relationship in my drafts too but its at the bottom of my to-do list tbh. maybe someday though

im only into this one casually nowadays but morphogala... you really cant go wrong with "knight of death saves the greatest warrior in the galaxy from their torturous fate". something something the themes of wishing for the release of death being subverted into yes, death itself releasing you but in a way that actually Saves and rescues you instead. the hope and love in spite of all of the hopelessness AHHHHGH the themes of this one make me so weak. theres so much potential...... i really love this one on an aesthetic level too

you know i take my comment on "not super into shipping" back i think my multishipper ass has disillusioned myself into thinking being insane about like 4-5 ships isnt enough or isnt the norm. maybe i am insane about shipping......... oops

ships that make my thumbs up list in that i like them in concept but dont ship myself would be: marxolor; any of wave 3 x each other tbh. i have them as just besties in my hcs but paired up in any way is very fun; i kinda like shadow metadede but im really particular about the dynamic of that one; fransoos gets a very big thumbs up from me for themes and concept+enemies/rivals to lovers; metagala is. i dont super get it myself but the aesthetics alone are absolutely on-point enough to put this one in the thumbs up category. yayyyyyyy. im sure theres more that im missing but i think that covers any that arent too niche

Most underrated show: BULLBUSTER. I know robots aren't very in right now or whatever but it's a robot workplace dramedy! Give it a chance!

Runner up: Synduality: Noir. Also robots. This one has such Eureka seveN vibes and I mean that as like one of the highest compliments I can give! I missed shows like this! Bring shows like this back! Also it's from the writer of Bunny Girl Senpai! If I say that will you watch it?

Most overrated show: Oshi no Ko. This shit was 60% monologues about how "the entertainment industry is bad, actually" by volume. Snore.

Runner up: JJK2. I mean it's like fine I guess but at this point JJK is like a vehicle that delivers cool fight scenes to my eyeballs. If you ask me to care about the characters or the mechanics behind the cool fights I will laugh at you.

Most niche show I enjoyed: 16bit Sensation: Another Layer. You have to be in so deep in the world of visual novels and eroge to really appreciate this show but I've been in too deep since I was like 14 so I love it!

Show that most should've been bigger: Undead Unluck. I know it's floundering here because it's a Hulu exclusive and Hulu has literally not even spent a single fucking tweet promoting their exclusive anime for some goddamn reason but give it a chance I am BEGGING YOU. Heavenly Delusion and Synduality: Noir had this same problem but Undead Unluck is based on a SJ property so you'd especially think it specifically would be bigger!

Show that most surprised me: Tearmoon Empire! I didn't know I wanted a show about Marie Antoinette getting sent back in time to prevent her own guillotining, or that I wanted that show to be primarily a comedy, but I got it and I love it! I hope it gets another season, I want to watch Mia bumble her way into becoming a better person and making the world a better place some more!

Runner up: Helck! I'd heard good stuff about the manga so I wasn't surprised it was good but I was surprised at just how well it shifted from comedy to drama and how emotionally invested it got me. Every week of that flashback arc had me yelling "NO!" at my computer when each episode ended because I wanted to know what happened next so badly!

Show that most was just sorta there but I had fun anyway: Mononogatari. It's such standard shounen fare and the art and animation rarely rises above the level of even "competent" but by the end of the second half I found myself genuinely invested in the characters? Also the second OP goes hard as hell

Runner up: Spy Classroom. It's not the best spy show out there, but if you've already watched Princess Principal and Spy x Family and you want more anime spy content it's there for you. I liked the girls and their unique abilities, and the narc episode is counterbalanced by the extremely hilarious and period accurate WcDonald's that is "White Fortress".

Worst anime: A Girl & Her Guard Dog. The premise is already not my cup of tea (not a huge age gap fan and especially not a huge fan of the girl falling for the guy who basically raised her, Bunny Drop style, though at least this series is up front about all that rather than luring unsuspecting people in with wholesomeness), but its execution is what really kills it. There's nothing more profoundly unsexy than the love interest behaving like an overprotective sitcom dad. Also doesn't help that the art and animation are straight DOGSHIT. I feel so bad for the animators, they must've been on an insane crunch, you can really feel that they kinda just shit this one out and you just know they're not proud of it and wish they could've done better work. I also feel bad for fans of the manga, the art there isn't terrible and while translating it to animation was always gonna be a little hard this is a particularly tragic attempt.

(a lot of) Oberon stuff

I decided instead of using my stockpile of forma for farming more kuva and tenet weapons for mastery rank fodder, I'd dump them into oberon because...I mean, why not

tbh, I just kinda like them. They were one of my first faves years and years ago and I haven't really touched them in years because, surprise surprise, they are/have been/continue to be kinda "mid" as power creep and buffs have spread to other frames.

AT LEAST for a layman player. Some tuber with maxed arcanes and 30k plat can probably post some build claiming Oberon is the best because he can't die, as if the arcanes aren't doing the heavy lifting lmao.

Despite that, they have always been my favorite support frame on an aesthetic and conceptual level, and I've always been annoyed that the druid healer frame is pretty much the worst healer in the game with Trinity spamming free full heals with free DR, Wisp being BUSTED (love her), and now Citrine just casually giving everyone free DR- HoTs as a passive- and orbs (also LOVE her).

ANYWAY, I sat down and theorycrafted some stuff, I was THIS close to putting my stockpile of umbra forma into him and just making him a pseudo tank that kept up phoenix renewal (maybe another day, and a second oberon prime lmao because I'm not overwriting all my hard work).

The plan was to basically push his armor and health to the extremes and just kinda, exist. Okay, saying it out loud sounds boring, so I'm glad I didn't do it, but I did really want to push his power strength high as hell while tagging on Primed Flow and some basic eff/duration to keep renewal going alongside all the beefed defenses.

I deleted that build idea so here's a mock up that's clearly inaccurate since it's lacking the flow etc but that tasty Effective Health was the goal (I'd have definitely used some staples like rolling guard etc instead of like gladiator resolve):

At the last minute I decided to do some browsing for other ideas and I came across some niche steel path gimmicks abusing quadratic scaling from ragdolling enemies interacting with his Reckoning augment.

tl;dr, stack enemies, use reckoning augment, silly funny extremely good things happen.

Now at first I figured the build just wasn't for me, but the more I thought on it, and the more I tweaked it for my own enjoyment and not just copying the max/min setup, the more it sounded interesting to try.

So I did it.

He's not done just yet, obviously. No subsume because the intended subsume is Gyre's to grant better energy economy and abuse the whole "ragdoll + reckoning = broken" thing, so I'm not even utilizing the interaction yet.

Also few shards, needs more shards.

Also it's still a work in progress- I'd like to toss on at least 1 go-to survival mod on him, but I haven't decided what I want to axe to do that. I'm thinking rolling guard for more leeway since he's shield gating (my first real build to abuse the mechanic) but figuring the values out on this build was tight enough without thinking "Oh, one more mod!" so we'll see. He can currently survive just fine in steel path content owed mostly to the CC of the mass radiation, tbh, and that might not even be an issue if the gyre interaction works out to just making everything too dead to hurt him in the first place. We'll see.

But the gist of him, as he currently exists, is pretty simple.

He nukes with his 4 and uses his 2 to ignore status / the need for primed sure footed on steel path builds.

The augment for his 4 is fucking fantastic thanks entirely to it scaling off range.

Too bad this patch note isn't right and it's still bugged and can revert to the 3m starting range whenever it wants in online content :/

Regardless, I mostly wanted to ramble on the short design journey on making this new build because the mid-point-result has been EXTREMELY fun to play lately.

Sure, he's not getting much use out of his renewal, and he's not enjoying the silly fun of smite infusion, and he's lacking some core parts to his build (that subsume is like 2 days out), BUT! As is, as a max range shield gating nuker, he's having a lot of fun. You know, when warframe doesn't decide to remove the range mod effect for no reason.

I honestly hadn't ever thought of making him into a nuker before, so mostly the novelty is making it fun.

I have only ever tried making oberon a mass CC gardener who keeps renewal up for that armor bonus, or a mass healer with eff/duration to allow it, or a smite infuser to assist groups with being weapon platforms.

Nuker never appealed to me because his 4 never appealed to me, his 2 and 3 were my faves and his 1 (with augment) was a simple radiation buffer.

Using his 4 so much and to such great effect is honestly just fun lol

What’s your way of navigating social medias nowadays? Obviously there’s pitfalls that can affect us negatively, so how do you use it more positively?

yeah so the only social media i've ever really had has been myspace, facebook, tumblr, and now twitter. youtube too if you wanna consider it social media (i used to use it like it was).

anyway...

tbh, i never really feel like i got affected negatively by it? i've never really related to other people's complaints. like i've known people who say they need to take a break from social media because it's harming their mental health and i just never understood. i mean, i could understand intellectually but i guess not empathetically since i've never felt that way.

if anything i'd say social media has deeply enriched my life. this could be because irl i am an extremely socially isolated hermit. so social media has helped me have a social life that i probably otherwise wouldn't have. but maybe people with richer irl social lives could find social media damaging?

i don't know. but for me social media has always been a neat way to meet friends, especially like-minded friends (which is importance since i have pretty niche interests/beliefs). but it's also been a cool way to connect to people from around the world who are very different from me. and it's help me explore new ideas and alternative perspectives while getting a chance to share my own with others. it's hard to find people i can debate irl. but on social media there is almost no end to it. and some sites, like tumblr and youtube and to an extent twitter, allow me to express myself creatively and share it with people i care about and offers the opportunity for collaboration. it's also helped me find love on a few occasions.

so i guess, like a lot of things, it's what you make of it. it depends on your personal attitudes/outlook on life, how you use social media, and how you curate your feed/dashboard. so while the "algorithms" might be able to shoulder a lot of blame i think there's a significant degree of personal responsibility that factors into it as well.

if you're a depressed and cynical doomer and you fill your dash/feed with miserable depressing shit then i wouldn't be surprised to find out it has a negative effect. but personally, for example, i've curated a really nice twitter feed. it's mostly art, philosophy, politics, history, poetry, religion. my feed is pleasant and interesting. yeah sometimes i see frustrating/depressing shit but i don't dwell on it or let it get to me. but again, this probably has a lot to do with an individual's disposition because i'm just not easily perturbed by things by my nature.

one common issue i see is people being upset by seeing other people posting stuff about them having fun. fomo and feeling like other people's life are better/more fun than your own and stuff like that. i don't think i've ever felt any of that at all. i mean, sometimes i do lament that i am probably missing out on things but i think that would be true regardless of social media. i mean, sylvia plath basically wrote about this feeling the bell jar like 60 years ago.

but going back to social media: i understand that these people are mostly posting the /best/ moments of their life and it's not really representative of their life in general, i appreciate the opportunity to see things that i probably wouldn't otherwise be seeing, i am happy to see other people being cheerful and enjoying life, and it gives me ideas for things i could do with my own life. but again, i'm just generally not a bitter or resentful or insecure person. i think people who are troubled by this sort of content need to work on themselves and their own self-esteem.

Pop Team Epic

Honestly, the last few episodes have been mediocre. For one, I expected more out of Asanuma and Toyonaga's bit. Second, the writing, like all comedies, is extremely hit or miss. Pop Team Epic in particular is niche to many memes that people haven't even heard of. I'm watching it for the seiyuu and the bad jokes. Yuuma and Enoki's 3B part is what puts it under the "Yeah, I'll keep watching this" category.

Spy x Family Season 2

Yeah, it's good. Wholesome stuff right here. This is the type of content that's okay to put on your search history. Yor is also one of the few characters that Shonen Jump can sexualize without being put on a watch list. Not that they need to. We all show up for Anya.

Mairimashita Iruma-kun Season 2

My only complaint is that there isn't enough Clara antics. I have already written a post about this show. It's good. Go watch it.

Mob Psycho 100 Season 3

Takahiro Sakurai scandal? What is a "Takahiro Sakurai scandal"? For real, that scandal did kind of rock my enjoyment of the show, and I really wouldn't want Reigen to be played by anyone else, but that's up to the people involved with the show. Either way, this season has already been recorded. I just don't see how they can top that previous season with Reigen's revelation arc. Just remember kids, separate the artist from their work. Sakurai is just a small part of what makes Mob Psycho 100 good. There's also some controversy with the dub cast too, so don't think that watching dub will protect you from that.

Koi wa Sekai Seifuku no Ato de

The fanservice interferes with this show. Honestly, I've been watching anime for quite a while, and even this show really sticks out for some reason. Besides that, it's a cute love story that doesn't diverge too much from the usual "Romeo and Juliet" type fare.

I was really surprised about some of the casting decisions for this anime, but I think it worked out for the most part. I don't think I've seen Yuusuke Kobayashi play a meathead before.

Heaven's Design Team

Okay, this is the one show where it genuinely doesn't matter that the cast is never developed because it isn't that type of show. It's ecology mixed with creationism, and even though you'd think those two would never mix, it leads to an almost theistic brand of evolution, and I think that's okay. Just enjoy it for what it is. I watched it for the seiyuu who made the show fun. It's a nice watch, but I can't say it's mindless because you do actually need to pay attention sometimes.

Also, I accidentally watched this out-loud on a VC and still cringe every time I remember that. It was during one particular scene too. Ouch.

Shinchou Yuusha

I pretty much watched this for the voice actors. For one, Aki Toyosaki was really funny in the clips I've seen. Second, I got it spoiled for me and wanted to see the build-up for said spoiler. It was alright. Not a complete waste of time, but it still wasted time if you get what I mean (I watched it on 1.5 speed). I should've been productive. I feel like some of this stuff could've actually been abridged. Besides the two main characters and a few gag characters, the cast is extremely forgettable. It's almost like they made them forgettable on purpose. The fanservice interfered with the show a lot. I could not sit a minute without having female MC's boobs hanging out.

Romantic Killer

Yo, I made a post for all the reasons you should go watch this show. You should go do that. Quit reading this and go watch it. It's good. I like it. Makes the little dino in my brain boogey.

(also a comment on that gif: If this was your normal average harem with a male protagonist, MC would've definitely accidentally groped someone. Anzu never fall on their ball sack. I appreciate that it just stops with a kabedon and her accidentally stomping the crap out of him)

Akuyaku Reijou nanode Last Boss wo Kattemimashita

I just realized that I may have watched too many anime with Yuuichirou Umehara as the lead, and the funniest part is that all of the three characters in the past three anime I've mentioned have the exact same voice. It wasn't a whole "voice actors have such range" kind of thing. Umehara does have range, but I swear the past three entries have had him to do the exact same or extremely similar voices (closer to his natural voice). He was also in Heaven's Design Team where he did give the character a different voice. So yeah, he's been in four of the anime I've watched lately, and I think it was done by choice? I don't know. He happened to align with a lot of my stuff on my "watch later" list. Meanwhile, Rie Takahashi has given such range as Anzu and the MC of this anime. Man, I have slept on how good she is.

Anyways, this anime is alright. Honestly, go read the manga which covers the first four episodes. From episode five on, the anime goes at a snail's pace compared to the first four episodes which adapted at light speed. Bro, choose your pace then STICK WITH THE PACE YOU CHOSE.

Chainsaw Man

You know, I thought this while reading the first few chapters, but man, it feels both refreshing and insulting to have a straight-forward pervert as the protagonist. Thanks for being honest with us and what you want to project, but man, I am not part of the crowd that would relate to this (asexual). It beats all of those "I'm a good guy who just happens to grope women in my spare time" MCs, but man, how am I supposed to get behind Denji as a main character? Also, screw those people who dislike the casting. I strongly like this cast. Tomori deserves support and so does that trombonist playing Denji. Also, RIP to all of them peeps who are falling for the Makima x Denji stuff. We all know how that's gonna turn out given the tone of the show... and the manga readers screaming spoilers at us from 100 kilometres away.

I know no one wants to hear this right now because it's not the point™ with first kill being cancelled. But we seriously need some analysis as to why w/w shows tend to be so low budget and honestly... plain bad.. like there's a list going around with the w/w shows that ended / where cancelled this year... And yeah they were not good . Like regardless if you enjoyed it that's not the point . We deserve high quality lesbian/bi rep on tv . We deserve high quality writing. We deserve big budgets for this shows . We are literally being fed scraps and then those shows get axed anyways.

They become this niche content that we desperately consume anyways because we are starved for representation but literally NO ONE else is watching because let's be honest it truly fucking sucks. But since there's not a single w/w character on tv suddenly you find yourself rooting for a Cheryl centric storyline on riverdale and you wonder how is this your life.

Like be honest how many GOOD w/w shows have been made in the last ten years?

Killing eve ? Villanelle gets killed the last second there goes you bi protagonist! Lexa ? That death traumatized a generation. Poussey from oitnb? Murdered in the most shocking and traumatic scene i ever seen on tv , we don't talk enough about it . Jules my beloved, and then literally that's it . Everything else is either really niche tv or extremely bad but consumed anyways because it's literally the only thing that exists.

It's the same when it comes to those lists of lesbians and bisexuals girls on tv in general they are so marginally bad .

Made some fun self-observations today. This is a slight spoiler for a piece of writing that I'm currently working on, but it's actually not a fic.

So, inspired by Shu who was inspired by me, I've been reinspired to make a new Superlist of fanfictions from beginning to end. Note, this is stuff about every fic I have ever posted since I began posting fics. And that includes chapter by chapter for my short fic compilation series.

My total right now?

151 fanfictions have been written between 2019 and now.

I still don't have Shu's word count though, they got me there, that man is about to hit one million words in total word count on AO3 and that is not a fucking joke my dude

Anyways I made some realizations of contrast between my original Superlist at the end of Props to the Proppies (2020) and my current day Superlist.

1. I write in a very different "tone". Maybe this is only me or maybe people can also pick up on this but, is it just me realizing I use exclamation marks significantly less than I used to? I used to talk like this! A lot! It was a lot! I kinda hate it now! I'm not sure why I kept doing it for so long! But I really don't use them as much anymore so like, chill, me.

2. I write a significantly larger amount than I used to, also. Except this might have less to do with growth and change and more to do with the fact that I'm in the middle of NaNoWriMo and I am crunching words into this Superlist as much as I can. Believe me, when it drops, that thing is going to be one beefy motherfucker. (Now let's see if I can make a word count that high on other things like real fics, hmm?)

3. I gave up giving a shit about...well, a lot of shit. Like the fact that I write extremely kinky stuff, including more niche categories that may not be as understood or enjoyed by lots of viewers. I've apologized way too much for it in the past and nobody ready cares so like. You see these fucks I give? Yeah, me neither. The fucks sailed away my man. You get no fucks. I produce PWPs and there is nothing you can do to stop me.

4. I have a better memory about what I was feeling and doing around the time of writing a particular fic than the content of the fic itself. I may not remember what happens in this story, but boy do I remember the emotions coursing through my body while I was typing it up. A lot of fics come about through my need to self-express through someone else's mind and body, so that's probably to blame for all the content that comes out.

Even as I bear down hard for NaNoWriMo's brutal marathon of words, I doubt this Superlist is going to be up anytime too terribly soon. It will depend on whether I want to be posting it now or wait until the end of the year where I will have a clear cut time frame to make another Superlist for next year. Assuming I'll have fics to add then. Which, knowing me, I probably will. I mean eventually.

Ok today my brain has just been on and my friend is enabling me so I am going to tall about my feelings about crossover fanfics.

Below the cut because I have no idea how excessive I will be.

SO.

There are generally two ways for crossover fics to be, blended universe and what I'm going to call 'faller' crossovers.

Blended universe is like these two have existed in the same universe forever, they're just only interacting now. The only examples coming to mind right now are this Disney/Transformers crossover that was overall really good but also there was Megatron x Maleficent as a ship and it actually worked pretty well and this series I read before I really got into Transformers that was a crossover with Sonic and all I remember about that one was Shockwave was a femme (who Eggman found attractive), gender mattered/sex was a thing in Cybertronians, and I didn't like how Optimus was being written. Actually no this one MHA/Transformers crossover counts and it's great I love it so much the closest I can get to a complaint is it's using some elements from TFP and doesn't have Knock Out and Breakdown because the author might want to do combiner stuff with Breakdown which is fine but it means we didn't get Knock Out flirting with Optimus Prime which is a crime if you ask me.

Anyway, something that fic does really well that is one of the things I really like about a lot of crossovers is that it explains both sides of the crossover really well. Like it starts off with MHA, but from what I have learned from consuming multiple MHA crossover fics, it starts from the beginning of MHA, so if you're coming from Transformers, you still know what's going on, and then it also explains everything going on with the Transformers side of things. A lot of good crossovers that aren't already being really niche do this really well, explaining both sides of the crossover so both fandoms can enjoy it equally. This has also led to me reading crossover fanfiction between two series I have no intention of ever seriously consuming canon over, like Danny Phantom and Batman crossovers.

Ok now I am going to talk about faller crossovers. This is when a character (or multiple characters) from one franchise or continuity, either from dying or some kind of incident involving a teleportation device or magic of some kind, suddenly wakes up or falls into another franchise or continuity. Some time travel fics also work this way. (The fact that faller is also the term in Pokemon for a human who came through through Ultra Wormhole was not intentional but fits extremely well.) I really really like these. Like. So much. One of my favorite crossovers that I am always hungry for content for I only am after based on faller plots. It's also really cool how it can be unclear about how obvious it is. Maybe it's obvious that the person is from another dimension/reality. Maybe someone witnessed the person appear or fall from the sky, or it's blatantly obvious that they don't belong. (I am only restraining myself from going off on Transformers Prime/Transformers Animated crossovers of this variety, especially the one being created by @ justawannabearchaeologist because I know like one person will know what I am talking about and they already follow her and are very aware of my preferences.) Or maybe they woke up somewhere and can blend in. They may not have all of the appropriate knowledge, but they can try and work things out and live on their own. I am reading what is probably an embarrassing number of 'MCU Peter wakes up in Gotham' fics but they are a really good example of what I'm talking about. Also 'Friendly Foreign Dimensional Exchange Student Spiderman!' on AO3 is a MCU Peter into MHA fic that also fits really well with my point and it takes forever to update but it's good imo.

MHA fics actually seem to do crossover explanations really well? Maybe it's because the setting lends itself to explaining itself, especially to new characters, and there is the extremely high likelihood for a MHA fan to go into the fic without being familiar with the other fandom (I think I still have an active Danny Phantom/MHA crossover fic open) so the character gets an explanation too.

Idk crossovers are cool and I don't think I have ever written The Talk about why I think they're so cool.

Thoughts on the Tender Cap

Greetings!

Lately, I've been musing over the new Trading Post feature. As a completionist with a particular fondness for transmogs and battle pets, this feature has been an amazing contribution to the game for my particular niche of game play. That said, there is one particular piece of this feature that I have been far from pleased over.

Let's address the elekk in the room here. Having a currency cap for a feature which offers no real game play enhancement beyond cosmetic enjoyment feels like an unnecessary timegate. The trading post features plenty of activities to do throughout a month, while the currency itself can be capped out by playing just a few hours through a regular daily or weekly routine.

I can understand a concern with players collecting everything at once, but really, what does it hurt when the only available rewards are purely cosmetic collectibles? Worst case scenario, a player gets everything they want one month and when those rewards come rolling around again in a year or so that player won't have any other items to collect.

Of course, a small workaround to this issue could be to add in a few new items each year, giving players more items to collect and offering an incentive for players who already received the old trading post content from a year earlier. Many of the items currently datamined are recolors of existing content anyway, so it could be argued that this tactic would not be incredibly hard to implement.

A removal, or at the very least readjustment, of the trading tender cap would also benefit micro holidays and other small events that don't see a lot of participation by encouraging players to continuously work towards completing more tasks throughout the month. As is, many players can reach their cap out by doing some world quests and running their usual content in a few hours or days. That leaves the rest of the month for them to ignore their log altogether. If one potential benefit of the traveler's log is to hopefully receive more engagement in these events and micro holidays, having a base of players already capped out before the event even arrives only hinders this chance of engagement.

A further concern with the cap is that it also serves a purpose of having a player reach the monthly reward. That doesn't have to change with the removal of a cap, though. In fact, I personally don't see any reason to need to alter the monthly reward at all. Players could still work towards earning just enough tender to earn their reward and be done with the log if they wished to play the game in this manner, and it would not have any significant impact on their overall game play.

When it comes to working to earn cosmetics, it should be no different than working to earn any other area of game play that isn't going to dramatically out-balance the player base. If the rewards were item upgrades or other content to help better one area of playstyle over another, I could absolutely see the need for a cap. At the same time, valor did exactly that and was only capped for a portion of the season before being lifted.

All in all, I love the trading post. I love seeing a new fondness for cosmetics and collectibles, and I truly enjoy knowing that the players who really enjoy this sort of content have not been forgotten. At the same time, being currency capped feels more like a barrier than it is beneficial. From this particular collector's perspective, the cap only makes the post more stressful and disappointing when going into the purchasable rewards means having to be extremely selective. If players are willing to put in more work to earn even more currency throughout a single month, I see no harm in letting them do so-- especially for cosmetic items.

That's my two cents on it, anyway.

I don't know if you've heard of it but there is a great ttrpg inspired by hadestown that is all about revolution. It's called 'the riot starts' by riley rethal and you can find it at metagame[dot]itch[dot]io - having played it, I can definitely recommend! The playbooks are inspired by various characters from Greek mythology including Daedulus and Antigone.

riley rethal writes some excellent games in general and also when the broadway album came out she pointed out the minor word change from ‘let the world we dream about be the one we live in now’ to ‘to the world we dream about and the one we live in now’ and how that totally changes the MEANING (bcos that line is in the game ‘the riot starts’ and was formative for the game.....)
