A week after release I again played Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition after a few patches and got to test some spectating and also multiplayer team games. Have a look if you're interested in some cast expert games from TheViper, MbL, Hera, Mr. Yo or Villese, and see the whole experience with the game as I upload the whole stream to show it all - you can use time stamps in the description for navigation to content you want.

I also got a game for the Age of Mythology fans, but AoL_RecoN's match unfortunately ended in a crash, so it's not whole :-/ Yes, problems persist.

On Thursday Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition launched and so I streamed the experience after release to see the changes from Beta a week ago - I streamed on 14th November night about 7 hours after launch. I again perform tests and show FPS, CPU/RAM/GPU usage.

My computer: i5-3570 3.40 GHz quad-core, 8GB RAM, playing off normal HDD, system on SSD, GPU AMD Radeon HD 7950 3GB (should be similar to Nvidia 1060), 1920x1200 resolution, 60Hz display.

The video description includes time stamps for specific parts for better orientation.

In the meantime some things have been attempted to be fixed (like the pretty much non-functioning multiplayer), there was a first small patch, but players are still reporting similar issues and from my checking out of things, it's still not working well 2 days after launch (number of the shown games is still limited, largely cannot join any spectating, lag/stutter is still in, maybe slightly better, but not by much if so, and could just be random observation, looking also at other streams).

You might've read my written account or seen the live stream on Friday, here are the videos from the Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition Beta also on YouTube for better comfort - I've added some time stamps into the description so you can find points of interest if you're looking for specific things - I recommend especially the second video with the latest version of the game.

It's mostly about multiplayer as that's the relevant part for me and my activities in the community, but I also look at the single player/campaign a bit.

Tomorrow (Thursday), I'm planning a launch stream for the standard session since I have one, but there's also the X019 at 20GMT with AoE things I want to watch, so I'm thinking maybe we could do some AoEIIDE, then do live watching of the presentation and then back to gaming, we'll see.

Age of Empires IV announced today at gamescom - all we know so far is that it will be developed by Relic Entertainment and things seem to hint at the fact that it will be from the modern era - the announcer’s significant “future” mention, the teaser moving across the ages simulating the AoEIII graphic, Relic being known for Company of Heroes, a modern warfare strategy. Nothing more than that, not even how far in development the game is, so eagerly waiting for more info^^

Another remaster for Age of Empires II was announced as well (yes, get hyped for paying for the same thing for the third time :d), and also for Age of Empires III, though here I’m not really sure what they want to remaster - the game is pretty modern even for today’s standards and the graphics are good. Looks more than anything as an attempt to get everyone to Windows Store - AoE:DE is already that way and based on other games (Rise of Nations) and attempts by Microsoft, it is a “definitive” trend :-)

Concerning Age of Empires: Definitive Edition, we got to see some new gameplay footage that looks all right, hope I’ll get into the beta to try it out :-) Release is quite close though - 19th October - so not sure how much feedback can be actually incorporated.

Age of Mythology, sadly, but expectedly, without any future :-/
