When I told people I was taking 4 ap classes (psych, lang, seminar, and environmental science), they looked at me like I was fucking crazy (which I probably am for doing that to myself ngl - ) but yeah.

I actually slacked off a lot last year and I promised myself I would not do that this year, so I've been pushing myself more this year.

PSYCH AND ENV SCI ARE PRETTY EASY (they're like the notoriously easy classes! but don't let that allow you to slack off bc you still have to know the material!! personally apes was really easy for me bc it made logical sense so if ur anything like me (like if so far it seems easy ) then i think u'll be alright with this class! with psych, make sure you not only know the types of psychology and other related things like neurons, but also like the people!)

lang is a hit or miss imo, ur either really good at writing and the different types of essays that there are (rhetorical analysis is the only one i remember atm alsdkfaslfjd) or ur gonna struggle a lot and prob despise the class. if ur teacher is really good at teaching then don't be afraid to ask questions ab ur essays because those points MATTER!! and i haven't done ap seminar bc it wasn't offered at my school but i hope it's bearable :,) (and easy lasfjaslkj)

(this is not to flex or make this a competition but i had like 7? yeah 7 my senior year and my friends gave me so much crap about it alsdkfjsdlalsd it was not fun AHAHAHA)

BUT i also slacked off in hs (not as how ur probably thinking but i wanted to do more than what i did so i'm going to give you the advice that i wanted to do my junior (and also senior) year:

look up the ceds (course and exam descriptions) of each of ur classes if there is one available (there should be, ik for psych, env sci, and lang there is one but not too sure ab seminar bc i didn't take it) and just read and take notes on anything that you find useful

-> u'll just need to google (course name) ced and it should be first link!

also for apes, look up mr. smedes on youtube! he's really good at teaching the class if ur teacher is a little lacking (or if you just want more/a review!) - the name is like jordan dischinger-smedes

Alright, mess of thoughts though it's not the end of the day yet really cause 7th period hasn't even started:

-I am loving 7th period being across from the bus loop because last year it was all the way in the auditorium across campus

-Most of our teachers seem nice or just not bad and they've all been cool about the name thing so far, favorites were 1st, 2nd, 5th, and 6th period (1st period mentioned the email, 2nd period also mentioned the email, 5th period was like "See! I got your email!" and I just loved that response for some reason, and 6th I just liked because I watched him write the name Alex next to the deadname)

-The US history teacher that the sibling said was horrible did not seem horrible, I figured she wouldn't actually be horrible

-I like our 1st period teacher's vibes but also in 1st period she was talking about how we shouldn't use the words Ethos Logos and Pathos in our essays and stuff and when she was saying that she used Ethos as the example and I was just like "What did I do ;;". Additionally when she asked if we remembered what Ethos was I did not because I was tired and in my head I was just like "Ethoslab"

-Our 5th period teacher also has fantastic vibes, it's like science teachers all have amazing vibes

-I'm still annoyed about the seating in ceramics BUT the teacher said we can move to another side of the room because she noticed I was fanning myself with our schedule paper a lot :'] She said that side was a little cooler so I will move over there tomorrow

-The person next to me in 7th period also has no idea what the teacher is saying/talking about. I also lent her our power bank because I wasn't using it (I have been using it though, 84% rn)

-We'll either need to wear our regular shoes on Tuesdays and Thursdays or always bring them those days because in HOPE we'll be in gym/track on Tuesdays and weights room on Thursdays

-I need to always have a drink to bring to school even just a water bottle

-Also our AP env sci teacher saw that I make the little paper stars too (I made 4 that class period)

-I do not like crowded lunch period but it's fine I guess??

-There are no classes where we can charge our phone with outlets so it's good that the power bank works with our charger which is brand new so maybe that's it

Not to imply that high school was wholly evil or anything. Like, for all the fuckery there were good and memorable moments too. I finally got the first cultural exposure and leverage that eventually helped me break the Southern Baptist stranglehold on my life since childhood. In spite of some of the aforementioned rules I got to get really familiar with the 16 acres of woodland behind the school. I got my first real experience gender bending (nothing quite as exhilarating or funny as swapping clothes with a friend in the middle of an AP Env Sci lecture when there's an 8 inch height difference between you. I remember that time I laughed so hard I cried for the first time in my life. I started recognizing and (eventually) figuring out some of my own queer stuff for the very first time. My first ever blink-and-you'll-miss-it introductions to kink and polyamory both happened in high school, although I didn't recognize them as such until years later. But most importantly perhaps, I learned that sometimes friends actually are friends. Sure we still had our catty bullshit crab bucket competitive viciousness to contend with, bit for a lot of us (or at least for me), we were struggling out of our chrysalises and into social relationships that were somewhere in the general vicinity of healthy, some of us for the first time.
