One more post coming soon and that will be the final in this series.
I want to take this opportunity to talk about short tail mutations in cats, with the Japanese Bobtail and Cymric as examples. Btw Cymric is just a longhaired Manx, so we're talking about the Manx gene here. The Manx mutation for short tails is notorious for the associated health complications, even including death. You see, the mutation works by eliminating some vertebra and that makes the tail shorter. Sometimes it eliminates too many vertebra. In any case, you should never breed tailless x tailless Manx. In contrast, the mutation that gives the Japanese breed its short tail seems to be harmless and devoid of negative side effects. There are probably more than these two that can cause short tails in cats - some harmless, some very dangerous. Anyway. Think twice before buying a Manx or one of the breeds derived from it, and carrying a potentially very dangerous mutation.

I need y'all to understand this a 80 kg (176 lb) dog and a 6ish kg (13 lb) cat who cuddle up almost every night.
The dog is scared of cats. But the cat has bullied him into cuddling and he has accepted his fate.
He likes this cat now. Other (smaller) cats are still scary, though.

Kuro and Madara both seem like maine coons but Madara(and also Leo ) also give me calico vibes. Kuro also fits the norwegian forest cat.
Himeru is one of those freaky ass lanky oriental cats or a russian blue
Adonis is an egyptian mau or a siamese, Kaoru is an orange, Rei is a regular black cat but with weirdly shiny fur and Kouga is a cat who was raised by pitbulls and will not accept the reality that he’s not a pitbull
Keito is a regular european/domestic shorthair but with a weirdly green tint to it
I would say Mika is a khao manee due to the eyes but he is big eyed dark brown colored LaPerm( the specific image I have in mind is one of the pictures in The Cat Encyclopedia and I’m not even sure if it’s for that breed)
Tori is a munchkin

OMG THAT IS PERFECT! Because hands down Lucas owned MAW era the whole concept and MAU itself was a amazing and they were clearly going for a genie in the lamp, Arabian Nights, Aladdin theme and one of Lucas' outfits just screams ALADDIN to me and so I was gonna ask if I could request for an Alddin AU with Lucas as Aladdin and the male reader as Jasmine and for a fun twist Jackson Wang is gonna be the genie (if you don't write for Jackson you can surprise me with who you prefer the genie to be or which ever character and idol you wanna add I just love Jackson and Lucas duo lol ;)) I love Aladdin both the 1992 animated version and the 2019 live action adaptation so I wanna be surprised with what you can come up with, take us to A Whole New World and have fun! In the bustling city of Agrabah, Lucas and m/n had become inseparable. Their love had flourished and taken root, weaving a tapestry of passion and devotion that seemed to defy the constraints of time. Their secret meetings in the palace gardens had now become cherished traditions, a sacred place where they could share their dreams and fears without the judgment of the outside world.
One evening, as they strolled through the moonlit gardens, Lucas playfully plucked a flower from a nearby bush and tucked it behind the m/n's ear. "You look even more enchanting with this," he said, his eyes sparkling with affection. The m/n chuckled, his heart warmed by Lucas's charm. "And you look like a prince out of a fairy tale," he replied, admiration shining in his eyes.
Lucas smiled, his heart swelling with happiness. "You know, sometimes I feel like this is all a dream. That I'm just a street rat who stumbled upon a palace and found the most incredible person in the world," he confessed, his voice filled with sincerity. The m/n took Lucas's hand in his own, squeezing it gently. "You are so much more than that, Lucas. You are my world," he said, his voice soft and tender.
In that moment, they were interrupted by the sound of footsteps approaching. Panic washed over them as they realized they were no longer alone. Quickly, they pulled away from each other, trying to compose themselves. To their surprise, it was the genie, Jackson, who had appeared before them, a knowing smile on his face. "Ah, young love. It's a beautiful sight to behold," he said, his voice warm and teasing.
Lucas felt a blush creep up his cheeks, but he couldn't deny the happiness that filled his heart. "You're not going to tell anyone, are you?" he asked, trying to sound playful despite his nerves. Jackson laughed, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "Fear not, my dear master. Your secret is safe with me. I am here to grant your wishes, not to meddle in your love affairs," he replied, waving his hand theatrically.
M/n chuckled, feeling a sense of relief wash over him. "Thank you, Jackson. We appreciate your discretion," he said, his gaze lingering on Lucas, who smiled back at him. "Oh, it's my pleasure! You two make quite the enchanting pair," Jackson said, his tone sincere. "Now, if there's anything else you desire, just give me a shout. I'll be off, then!" With a theatrical bow, he disappeared into a puff of smoke.
As they watched the genie vanish, Lucas and m/n couldn't help but laugh. "He's something else, isn't he?" Lucas remarked, shaking his head in amusement. "He certainly is," m/n agreed, his heart filled with gratitude for the magical friend who had brought them together.
In the days that followed, Lucas and m/n continued to explore the depths of their love, finding joy in the simple moments they shared. They reveled in each other's presence, discovering new facets of their personalities with each passing day. Their love remained a secret, known only to the stars that watched over them and the genie who had inadvertently played a part in their love story.
Yet, as much as they cherished their stolen moments, they longed for a day when they could openly express their love for each other without fear of judgment or repercussions. In their hearts, they knew that their love was worth fighting for, that the world deserved to witness the magic they had found in each other's arms.
And so, they held onto hope, knowing that someday, they would be able to dance through the streets of Agrabah hand in hand, with the entire world celebrating their love. For now, though, they found solace in the quiet intimacy of their secret love, knowing that they had a love that was as vast as the desert sands, as bright as the stars in the night sky, and as enduring as a tale passed down through generations.

Regarding my last last-
Oh, that's right it might work a bit differently where you live! I feel like shelters in the US are more like trying to get animals good homes as fast as possible and will work with you. But even if it works differently I don't think there is any harm in asking! Worst case they just say no, best case youre able to work together! I would just tell them at the very beginning any details of feeling important :)
yeaa, weirdly here there's almost a cat/dog shortage (well it's gone up since people gave up their covid pets. freaks) but they're also pretty strict here as to what homes they go to ;o; understandably, but seems like you need a huge house with a huge garden which is just not realistic in the UK most of the time
in order to 'meet demand' a lot of stray animals actually get imported from southern europe, northern africa and the middle east. Lots of rescues here are arabian maus n greek cats

List of cat breeds and which organisations reconize them (Part 1)
Part 1 (A - L) is under the cut!
Notes:
If a breed is listed under a different name I noted it, unless it's a very similar name (Scottish Straight = Scottish Shorthair etc.).
I am not super good at distinguishing variants like European and American burmeses, so I put those that were just labeled "burmese" under unspecified. The same for Bombays and Maine Cats).
Breeds' long- and shorthair versions are listed seperately. However I didn't look up every single standard, just each index, and with some breeds it was not specified if they're recognized as longhaired, shorthaired or both. I've listed those as the most common variant. The same goes for ear types, fur types etc. (I might go through all of the standards some other time)
There are some breeds on here that are considered extinct or dormant but since some organisations still have their standard I've listed them. They're marked with an asterisk.
Words in quotation marks are the words I use if there's no official term for something.
apparently REFR accepts all recognized breeds from all registries plus their own. However they didn't write down all of them nor which breeds were extinct, so if anyone knows the latter feel free to tell me.
