On the makeshift med bay gurney, Armitage curled in on himself. The despite the forested embrace of Ajan Kloss he felt exposed and spent, trousers hastily fastened from their emergency landing; it was all he had on. Resistance medics had properly bandaged him, but his freckled skin was left to the moist jungle air. He felt a burn begin to creep across his shoulders. Resistance medics paced back and forth followed by droids that trilled out his vitals.  The medics replied cheerfully, but it made Armitage shrink. Even that felt personal and victimizing.

The lieutenant who had dragged him from the flagship who had finally left his side was seen politely reporting to General Organa. The wise woman put her hands on his lieutenant's cheeks and nodded. She caught the eye of Armitage and offered him the same courtesy.

If it wasn't for him, their precious Resistance stars would have never returned. He acknowledged then he was equally appreciated and reviled. He swatted a floating medical droid.

"Knew I recognized you."

Armitage jumped and raised his eyes to a man whose smug grin made his skin crawl only deeper. He looked down again rage swallowing his belly in heat, "What could you possibly want from me, pilot?"

Poe leaned confidently against a stack of medic crates, folding his arms across his chest, "Didn't expect to see you anywhere near here or so soon, but I'm glad you are."

"Oh please," spat Hux. "If you weren't always in hot water with your leadership, you'd shoot me on the spot."

Poe chuckled, "Maybe you're right, but you know what--"

He leaned towards him on his elbow, demanding Hux's attention with a frightfully serious gaze, "If it wasn't for you, me and Chewy and the rest of the crew wouldn't be here," he said. "And I dunno about you, but losing us is alotta hope wiped out."

Armitage grimaced, either from the pain of the hole in his chest that only had begun to rebuild itself or a tick in his mind of his cock in his lieutenant's mouth. Nevertheless, the latter persisted, "Perhaps the Resistance should rely on something a little more substantial than hope."

"Well how does it feel to be responsible for it?"

"..frankly like I've been shot in the chest."

Poe cackled and his laughter made Armitage's ears pink. He stole glances at the handsome pilot, but instead chose to focus on the bruised cap of his knee. Blushing, he rubbed the underside of his nose with the back of his hand, resisting the urge to smirk too. Blast this 'hope'.

As Poe came down off of his laughing high, he gazed endearingly at Armitage, who continued to avoid his gaze "Hey," Hux flinched and he paused for a moment, "I'm sorry about what I said about your mom--I bet she's a nice lady."

Hux felt his chest sink again and he managed to mutter, "She was."

The heat that had already began to tingle under his shoulders reignited under the hand of the handsome pilot. It spread everywhere. Armitage hesitated, but turned his head up to look at Poe. With the sun beaming down behind his head, it haloed his dark locks in an immaculate ring. He was mesmerized for all of an eternity.

"Lemme know if you need a tour of the facilities," Poe said, snapping Armitage out of his daze and with an easy smile. "Gets dark fast around here, but if you can't find a place to crash--" Hux furrowed his eyebrows as Poe tongued his cheek "--I can pitch us both a tent."

He turned on his heel leaving Armitage blinking, "Pitch us both a--" he suddenly looked into his lap and shoved his hands into it, scrambling for what was left of his coat and covering himself. Poe waved over his shoulder,

"Catch ya later, Sux!"
