There’s something so intimate with seeing another disabled person in public. I was walking down the street with a friend to a cafe, my red cane in hand. Coming down from the opposite street was a young women with her friend. I saw her bedazzled cane, covered in stickers and art then looked up to her eyes. She had been looking at my cane, covered head to toe in stickers, before looking up to me. We both smiled and kept walking. But with no words spoken there was a message.
“You’re just like me. We are both here, living our lives, walking with a friend like everyone else. We exist, not just online but here in person, we are not alone.”

ouguhhh just read the summary and article from this post about alexandre baril's work on suicidism (oppression of the suicidal) and the opening paragraph of the conclusion in the full article. thoughts. rotating
i was thinking about the. thick white gloves. while reading. remembered that one post about how csa being horrifically taboo to talk about compounds survivors' trauma and shame and went Maybe something similar re: suicidality and suicide... the suffering multiplied by the silence, the risk of dismissal or instant change in perception in anyone you tell... and even in 'mental health' spaces the perception that suicide as a topic is dangerous to talk about- that it could be triggering instantly and automatically- is like. i think there's some paternalism there and there's some shamefear and there's some oversimplification and there's the fact that it plays well into the existing well-taught impulse to avoid the discomforting. but like. this post also about how getting through suicidality is maybe only possible by considering the option thoroughly. i am just thinking. idk. yall know me yall know i think about this topic a lot

If you ever feel bad about needing any sort of medication/drug/anything of the sort, i want you to remember that caffeine dependency is such a widespread thing that it's worth capitalising on and it's treated as no less casual than needing food to eat or water to drink.
Just because some substances aren't as accepted as others are doesn't mean you're any less capable for needing them.

really annoyed lately at the idea that "normal" people go through life with no baseline level of anxiety, pain, or fatigue. there's no group of "normal" people who are happy healthy and full of energy 100% of the time. in fact i would say most average people are one or two adverse events away from being overwhelmed with stress and anxiety. and whether or not you have any sort of diagnosed disorder you're shooting yourself in the foot by thinking that other people just naturally have access to some "normal" level of functioning that you can't begin to grasp.
i started thinking about this cause i saw some chart about different levels of fatigue/tiredness and someone commented that most people are at 0, meaning "not tired at all." just like...how does that make sense? most people are never tired?? isn't this the same website that loves to point out that capitalism is draining the life from everyone? no one can find jobs, no one can afford a one-bedroom apartment, we experienced/are experiencing a global pandemic that shook up millions of people's lives, but you're believing that "most people are never tired?" make it make sense....

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but if I tell you I have to cancel plans because of my chronic illness, I do not want to hear that you’re frustrated or upset by it. I promise you that I am more frustrated and upset by having a body that won’t let me follow through with those plans.
You can BE frustrated and upset. Those are normal and valid feelings. But if someone says they can’t do something because of their illness and you center your own feelings by telling them how frustrated you are about it, you’re being insensitive and you need to grow some empathy.

it rlly was absolutely insane how the male lead tricked eultae and stole his soul then fucked off and played hackey-sack with it with the female lead for the next thousand years while eultae suffered in perpetual agony and then the writing did absolutely nothing with that
