Welcome to the Shadow of the Eclipse

October 4-31, 2023

Some introductory notes

The “shadow of the eclipse” is a time period lasting from 10 days before the first eclipse, to three days after the final eclipse. It is recommended not to start anything new, or schedule anything important, during these days - as usual I refer everyone to the 1981 wedding of Lady Diana Spencer to the Prince of Wales, as an example.

Of course we live in a place/time which scoffs at letting astrology help with the timing of events - therefore don’t lose hope if something falls unavoidably within the eclipse shadow. Just be prepared.

I wanted to take a more thorough approach to delineation, this time. I hope it’s helpful.

South Node Solar Eclipse

A solar eclipse happens when the New Moon lies close (in the Zodiac) to either the North Lunar Node, or to the South one. It occurred to me to do a little research on whether which Node is involved, makes any difference - and yes, it does.

Astrologers call the South Node “the dragon’s tail” - Steven Forrest calls the South Node, “the dragon’s butt” - because here we are “pooping out” what we don’t need and can’t use. (One person’s poop, however, is another person’s fertilizer.)

Eclipses conjunct the South Lunar Node, like the October 14 one, have an outflowing (outpooping?) of energy. They tend to feature external events which we have to “rise up to.”

If you’d like to note how these have affected you in the past (always a good idea to check “what happened last time”), here is a list of the previous South Node solar eclipses in this century:

Going down that list was a very uncomfortable trip down memory lane for me. When those South Node eclipses affected me, it was generally a harbinger of some difficult “external event” which I had little to no control over - which is not the same thing as saying “it wasn’t my fault.” I brought some of it on myself due to bad decisions. Some karma chickens coming home to roost, in other words. Not all of them were dire, though. One in particular gave me something of a respite from what had been happening in my life - it was conjunct my natal 12th House cusp.

Saros Series “7 South”

This eclipse is part of Saros Series “7 South.” Bernadette Brady writes,

The individual experiencing this series will find that huge obstacles will suddenly and easily clear or, on the negative side, a pending potential crisis will suddenly manifest and move through his or her life very rapidly. Either way the individual will feel that everything is moving at great speed. (The Eagle and the Lark)

Not quite as depressing for me personally.

Whatever Shall We Do?

1) Determine which of your natal houses this eclipse falls in.

2) Determine whether the eclipse makes an aspect to anything in your chart. Use a 1° orb. In my case, the conjunctions, squares, sesquiquads (135°), inconjuncts, and oppositions made the most obvious impacts.

3) If there is a close aspect to a planet, check to see which house(s) that planet rules. One South Node eclipse was conjunct the ruler of my natal 4th House, and I moved three months later.

4) Avoid strenuously negative thoughts. If you put a lot of energy into anticipating that something is going to be horrible and painful and disastrous, well, guess what - that’s exactly what’s going to happen. If you catch yourself falling into a panic, try to refocus the energy into “the best possible outcome.”

The astrology of Riki Nishimura

Background: NI-KI (니키) is a Japanese singer under BELIF+. He participated in the survival show "I-LAND" and was chosen as one of the final seven members of the group. He debuted as the maknae of ENHYPEN on November 30, 2020.

I saw a tiktoker (anneta.x) talk about Niki's potential rising sign, and she suggested he a Leo Rising. Personally, I don't see him as a Leo Rising but as a Pisces Rising and here's why!

So this is Niki's chart without any birthtime:

So he has a Sag Sun and Pluto. His Sun is at 17 degrees which is an indicator of fame in astrology and his Pluto is at 24 degrees (Pisces degree, represents music and beauty) If he were a Pisces rising, he would have those planets in the 10th house. In another video, it was guessing his rising and the first card that came up was the 10th house. So I'm getting that he must care a lot about his job and image and has Capricorn-like qualities (he always gets told he's mature for his age by his mother members). His Pluto makes sense, considering that he moved to Korea from Japan at 13 years old, and that must have been a transformative part of his career.

His Venus and Chiron are in Capricorn, so those in the 11th house make sense. Venus at 27 degrees is a big indicator of success from beauty and music and it being in the house of material gains makes more sense. Also, 11th house represents groups, fanbases and the internet. His Chiron there shows he must have suffered some hurt online or from fans too, it's at 0 degrees so it must have been transformative for him.

He has Uranus and Moon in Pisces. If he were to be a Pisces rising, he would most likely be in his first house of appearance and personality. Appearance wise he gives MAJOR Pisces vibes! He has an extremely unique face I've never seen before that looks so mesmerizing! His moon there also gives him softness to his face too, and from what I've seen he looks like his mom quite a bit. Uranus at 7 degrees (Libra) can also represent music as Uranus rules over art, music, and creativity so does Libra.

Jupiter and Mercury in Scorpio would be in his ninth house of communication, media and travelling. Jupiter in the ninth house shows he will have success abroad. Its at 9 degrees (Sag!), so he will be fortunate abroad. With his mercury ik this is random, but he has such a deep voice bro 😭 it's also calm too with the 26 degrees there.

Saturn in Leo in his sixth house shows being famous in his day-to-day life. His Saturn shows he will have restrictions at work, and he must be a hard worker. 11 degrees is also an internet fame degree!

Now I haven't reviewed every single placement, but all those can give a good indication that he is a Pisces rising. Here is a chart of a rough estimated time I got (sorry I couldn't get his Jupiter in the 9th house lmfao just ignore that segment :))

A brief introduction about me.

I learnt about astrology on Tumblr recently due to a viral post on twitter. I've been studying astrology for years now. I came across a birthday post in 2014 on Facebook and I was like I'm not a Libra. I always looked at astrology as something bogus until about late 2018 October or November. I stumbled across this YouTube channel called 13signsastrology and he explained a Virgo and I was like that's me for sure. I was deeply into spirituality, things like aliens, summerians at the time which was how I stumbled into his videos since he talked about it.

I would watch videos on astrology like planets through the houses for fun. Mainly in 2019 and 2020 because August 2019 I had joined a vocational institute that taught construction trades. It's like a trade school here in the Bahamas even for trades related to cosmetology. It's called The Bahamas technical and Vocational Institute. I was great in that school but I never got to start the construction trades. I had to do certain classes like maths and language. We had an entrepreneurship class for the final exam before COVID botched things we had to a business plan presentation to the class. I still have a copy of it

Long story short I used to watch astrology videos on a daily. Then in 2020 COVID happened. I was in school debt. I was like I'm gonna get this summer job and pay it off. With COVID in 2020 starting right as I finished that spring semester nobody could've even left their houses. We even had to do classes through zoom online. Safe to say my time in trade school was done.

Around this time I would watch krs astrology videos I loved his sun in the 4th house video. It resonated with me for a reason. Then I came across joni patry videos. I used to watch tons of astrologers on YouTube but once I ran into krs videos. This was how I got introduced to vedic astrology specifically. Then I was like all of this square, trines and Lilith stuff I'm about to learn doesn't make sense.

I can't remember when or how. It had to have been at least around August 2020 I ended up on Reddit. I don't even remember how or what made me signed up. I barely knew what reddit was you would think I was drunk when I had signed up, because to this day I can't remember what specifically made me signed up. Out of curiosity with vedic astrology I would google and seeing a Reddit post is probably what intrigued me.

I ended up in the vedic astrology community spamming posts until I somehow got in contact with a vedic astrologer (self proclaimed,) through inbox. The question was about career. We had conversations about life not just with astrology. Unfortunately he couldn't read my chart due to a lack of not having a birth time. The only time I really used was 12:00am. Which was awful because I did that for everybody I didn't even care if someone had a birth time. I would read people's charts with a 12:00am time and act like it was their actual birth time. You can tell I was an amateur. I was like man but this krs video of sun in the 4th house resonated with me. I even used the wrong software people in the vedic astrology subreddit pointed out to me. Remember I was following this guy on YouTube about 13zodiacsigns so I used a software relating to that. This was when I realized something isn't right about that 13 stuff.

I live in the Bahamas where people are heavily christian indoctrinated. I went to the public hospital and it was a hassle trying to get my birth time. I honestly thought I was never gonna get it but when this guy said he needs my birth time to look at my chart. I was motivated than ever. At the hospital I went through hurdles. People asking what I need my birth time for??? Shoots the people that worked there and the patients asked lol I even got into an argument with an old man about religions. He had asked me quietly I told him astrology big mistake I went into a debate and he started getting all loud about witchcraft. I didn't got the time that day they only made me sign a paper for a request. Then they were like they would call about a week later. Before I even went to the hospital I was like should I get a new birth certificate but talking to the lady on the phone. She worked at the place that did the birth certificates and I was like you know what forget this I'll go to the hospital.

A week and a half came I was like no call. I know where this is going so I called. The person that worked in the department where I had to sign the paper or registration form. The same woman that gave me the papers answered. She was like the receptionist. She put me on the phone with her supervisor. The supervisor had answered it was beautiful her energy was on point, very calm as well. The supervisor (a female,) told me she wasn't busy and isn't doing anything. She looked it up I guess on a computer she gave me the time I asked her to repeat it again because the time was just crazy. I was happy as ever as well. My birth time is 12:06am.

Also, I won’t provide links to where these rumors came from as I do not wish to send any abuse towards those bloggers/forums/social media accounts, but:

Most of the rumors that are very specific and detailed, particularly those involving specific dates, tend to come from tarot readers, astrology blogs, and gossip vlogs from YouTube.

okay so I'll try to keep this short: yes, I did date a satanist back in 2021 right after I was released back into the wild after a suicide attempt in November of 2020 (it's okay, I'm fine, I regretted it the moment I did it which is good lmao). at the time I decided to embrace my hoe tendencies that I've always suppressed because I have this good girl vibe going on and to be fair, at first I thought he was just a bit edgy and punk-ish. I didn't know he was a satanist. the thought didn't even cross my mind. but yeah, I became a bit obsessed with the idea of actually getting him to like me and I shouldn't have done this but I spent like a month researching him and studying his online presence and I sort of tried to manipulate him into thinking that I was someone he wanted to date. it became a challenge to me. again I didn't know he was a satanist but I now know that he thought I was one as well because I said that one of my biggest dreams is to adopt a goat (it's true, baby goats are the cutest) and one time he said he wanted to live in an abandoned church and I was like "omg me too, crazy right" (not true) plus some jokes about rituals (again: I thought we were just being edgy and I really wanted him) but I didn't think much of it, I just wanted him to like me. then, one night, he told me he was a member of the satanic temple (and autistic) and I thought about breaking up with him (not because of the autism of course) but he had a really cute nose and mothers should make sacrifices for their (future) daughters so I stayed with him. but I had to break up w him because he was extremely into astrology and he wanted me to quit my job as biophysicist because "science is not real". (this is really long sorry)

ANYWAY

so first of all I had to show him who matty is 😭 because my psychiatrist thought he was like a character (he's in his 60s, something like that). then I showed him your masterlist while I was explaining the concept of fanfictions and then I was like "for instance, this is a series, it's not just a one shot" and I clicked on part 1 and let him scroll freely. he didn't read the whole thing for sure because he stared at it for like 2-3 minutes tops until I interrupted him to say that if he wanted the really juicy part he should check part 2. so he gave me my phone and told me to go to part 2. I summarised the dream and took him straight to the confessional but before that I showed him one of my favourite videos of Matty touching himself on the couch just to give him a mental image and then I gave him my phone again. I can't tell you how much he read but he was reading it. he asked if notes & likes were the same thing and for the sake of keeping it simple I said yes and his response was "so this is a community" due to the amount of "likes" it got 😭😭 and I said that it was in fact a community and we all come together to fantasize about this man doing unspeakable things.

this is ridiculously long, I'm so so so sorry. he didn't make any comments regarding the quality of the work. he just asked me questions about how I interpreted certain things and how I felt and blah blah blah (it's not very interesting) and then he proceeded to analyse everything 💀 needless to say that I regretted introducing him to pfms the moment he started the analysis lmao

June 2022 Important Dates

AKA my notes from The Astrology Podcast’s June Forecast.

May Recap: We’re going into this month off a total lunar eclipse mid-May, of which Chris took some photos:

Speaking of eclipses, we’ll have another full solar eclipse over the continental USA on April 8th, 2024. Once again, here is the eclipse calendar for 2022:

As you can see, this year is all on the Taurus-Scorpio axis, and people with fixed sign emphasis especially have been seeing major shakeups and beginnings. With Uranus in Taurus (squaring Saturn), the nodes are now lighting up the disruptions the outer planet has brought us. Significations like the volatile market, dirsuptions in basic commodities, and labor struggles are all being amplified.

During the past month Mercury retrograde in Gemini andTaurus also showed itself in current events. Some examples in the US include appointing a head of disinformation investigations but then backtracking, the Supreme Court ruling draft leak, and George Bush’s Freudian slip about unlawfully invading...who, again? Straddling two signs, Mercury has been contacting both Jupiter and Saturn--our big, visible, society-level planets.

Speaking of the Supreme Court, it seems the leaked document was written around late February, when Venus was just finishing up her retrograde cycle conjoining Pluto and Mars. Issues of control over women, sexuality and privacy in general have all been raised. As I pointed out last forecast, we heard about this document right as Venus entered Aries, her sign of detriment. Jupiter’s presence in Aries also belies divisiveness over ideology, law, religion and morality, though bravery is here as well. Chris brings up Jupiter and the 9th house being associated with both religion & politics--our beliefs can be less logical than we think they are.

May 28th - Venus entered Taurus For most of the month, Venus will be in her home of Taurus, while Mars & Mercury are also at home in Aries & Gemini. She can provide some much-needed grounding in contrast to the other chaotic energies this month. However, she’ll run into Uranus & Rahu (the North Node) and square Saturn towards the end of the sign. Up until that point we might see some stabilizing in areas like stocks or basic needs (though not necessarily improvements). We’re also moving out of eclipse season, with the New Moon two days ago indicating regular, little beginnings & endings instead of the life-changing instability of eclipses. Venus and Saturn will square each other in domicile, which can be grounding. However, Saturn is a little stronger here, so expect to negotiate boundaries and structures.

June 3rd - Mercury stations Direct In late degrees of Taurus, he’s squaring Saturn, who stations retrograde the next day. This is a similar configuration to November 2020, when Mercury stationed direct square Saturn, bringing slowness and delays such as the recounts in the US election. We can likely expect postponements to be announced around this time. With the North Node & Algol close to Mercury, we’ve got a lot of imagery about losing one’s head--it’ll take awhile to tease out the truth, and Austin predicts that some terrible events may come to life. The story of Medusa (whose head is symbolized by Algol) is especially relevant right now regarding women and politics.

June 4th - Saturn stations Retrograde Saturn does so in late Aquarius, squaring newly direct Mercury. Saturn generally says no to things, and combined with Mercury can bring about hyper-criticism that may freeze us in place. Saturn is in domicile and terms, with Mercury in his decan, so Saturn is going to win out in any struggles here. Meanwhile, Jupiter and Mars have just conjoined, propelling us to motion in other areas of life. This is also the furthest Saturn has made it into Aquarius and the furthest he’ll get for awhile, really affecting fixed placements.

June 11th - Mercury reenters Gemini Once out of range of Saturn’s influence, Mercury is fast, strong in domicile, and receives a further boost of jet fuel from Jupiter and then Mars. What has been slow will suddenly speed up; think hot, fast, and bold for the second half of June.

June 12th - Full Moon At 23° of Sagittarius

We’re experiencing this lunation just as things are starting to pick up speed again: Mercury just entered Gemini the day before, Venus has been forced into contact with Uranus and Rahu, Saturn has stationed, and dignified Mars is just within trine distance (depending on the orb you use). The lights are square Neptune, so although there is light on the Sagittarius area of our charts, it may be a clouded or illusory vision. In contrast, Saturn is trine the Sun and sextile the Moon, which may have a grounding effect.

This is also the first lunation in Sagittarius since 2019 that isn’t an eclipse, so mutable risings and any planets here can breathe a sigh of relief as we see Sagittarius lit up in a healthier way. Sagittarius likes to quest, and especially with Neptune contacting the lights and Jupiter in Aries bringing general bravery, it can be a good time for seekers and inspiration.

Venus will get pushed into motion a few days earlier by Uranus, which Chris thinks may introduce us to something new and exciting, breaking our routine. Austin advises caution in Venusian efforts around this time, though, since Uranus is so unpredictable and Saturn is waiting nearby to refuse our requests.

June 21st - Sun enters Cancer As we begin summer, the activity in fire & air signs may overshadow Cancer’s nurturing nature. Mercury is already strong Gemini, but he’s also treading new ground once he passes about 10°. Meanwhile, Mars & Jupiter in Aries are all energy.

June 22nd - Venus enters Gemini She joins Mercury, further quickening the pace and making things more social & chatty. Sometimes it’s refreshing to be superficial or just have some light banter instead of probing the depths of one’s psyche. Venus in Gemini seeks variety and enjoys sampling many different things.

June 26th - Auspicious electional chart for the month

Adjust time to about 10:55AM local time, or Virgo rising. The chart’s ruler Mercury is dignified in Gemini in the 10th whole sign house, and Venus is there as well. The Moon is also in Gemini, separating from a conjunction with Venus, a sextile with Jupiter in Aries, and applying to a conjunction with her ruler Mercury. This chart emphasizes 10th house & Mercury/Virgo/Gemini themes such as communication, career, and reputation. Venus is also applying to a sextile with Jupiter in the 8th, and though Jupiter is there, Mars’s copresence in a day chart means we should curb our ambitions in the realm of taxes and debt. Overall this is one of the best Mercury charts for the year that Chris & Leisa have found. It’s a good time for writing & talking about things, sharing on social media if content creation is part of your career, and generally putting out important communications like requests, proposals, and pitches.

June 28th - New Moon in Cancer, Neptune stations Retrograde Here is the chart for the New Moon:

The Moon is at 7° of Cancer. Venus and Mercury are in Gemini, and the moon is closely square Jupiter, which in turn is sextiling Venus. Guest host Catherine Urban predicts a change in the baby formula shortage situation considering the nurturing and motherhood significations of the Moon and Cancer. The Moon is unafflicted, and with a trine from Neptune in Pisces, so the emphasis is on water energies and restfulness. What do we need to feel safe and secure, and to thrive? Get ready to accomplish more Jupiter in Aries things by taking a day or two off to replenish.

As for Neptune, this is the furthest he’s gone into Pisces this time around, but it’s not going to contact other planets too much this month. It may be worth noting that Jupiter and Neptune play big parts in both lunations this month. Mercury does have a square with Neptune going into July, so be careful of illusions in communications as the month changes.

June 30th - Mars square Pluto (not pictured) In classic terms this is a struggle between the seen (Mars) and unseen (Pluto) powers. Power dynamics will become exaggerated and untenable. Catherine points out that, while the world may seem to erupt, there is also a bit of powerhouse energy or clearing of the path that we might be able to tap into as individuals. Chris describes it as Mars moving forward while Pluto calls the shots from the shadows--we might be moving foward while unaware of larger forces manipulating us. Mars being so late in Aries means he’ll enter Taurus soon, joining Uranus and Rahu; and furthermore he’ll square Saturn on July 4th, reactivating that whole T-square with Uranus. Rest up now, because July's starting off with a bang!
