Hi! I would love for you to create a piece around this work, particularly the ending scene. This fic is the first I read by flowercrowngods, and it opened up a whole thing for me. Anyway his words feel like starlight to me, so would it be ok to request the scene but have Steve and Eddie be twinkling like starlight? Almost like Disney characters? 56 | FALL OUT BOY - THE PINK SEASHELL

So I take pleasure in the detail, you know

It starts small.

It may even start before he notices it.

The first one he notices is a tiny wooden baseball bat on a keychain. It’s not something he would’ve bought for himself; it’s definitely not something his parents would’ve bought for him, or themselves. It’s sitting on his dresser, behind a crumpled-up shirt that had been there for longer than he cared to admit, and under it is a little post-it note that just says YOURS IS COOLER in scratchy block letters.

The handwriting isn’t Robin’s, or Dustin’s, or Nancy’s; and that’s pretty much the end of the list of people whose handwriting Steve knows by heart, so he shrugs, sticks the note to his mirror, and pockets the keychain.

He puts it on his keys the next morning, and it makes him smile every time he sees it.

The little gifts continue, and they don’t always have notes. There’s a little silver thimble one day the following week, with a single yellow flower bud in it; the following morning there’s a chocolate bar left on his windshield with a note that just says EAT UP. He finds a little pink seashell sitting on his windowsill one evening, practically glowing in the sunset. Another week passes and he’s cleaning up a few hours after a D&D session to find one of their little painted minis. This in itself isn’t weird, but this one has SIR STEVE scrawled on the bottom, and it’s a clearly heroic figure wielding a mace—thanks, Dustin, for the vocabulary—and posed like he’s rushing into danger. It has a more than passing resemblance to him, too, the hair and the eyes, and the armour painted in Hawkins green and gold. This trinket, more than any of the previous ones, gives him a hint to who may be leaving the little gifts, and he hopes he’s right as he jumps in the car, figurine still clutched in his hand.

He drives straight to Eddie’s.

It’s getting dark by the time he gets there, Eddie’s porch light a beacon in the night. The door swings open as he’s setting foot on the stairs, Eddie stepping out to lean casually on the doorframe.

“Sir Steve! To what do I owe the honour of your presence?”

“Well, funny you should mention Sir Steve,” he said, holding up the mini. Eddie stared at it, then snapped his eyes back to Steve’s.

“Um, look, I’m sorry, that’s probably weird, I can get rid of it—”

“Dude, no, if you think I’m giving this up you’re crazy,” Steve laughs. “I love it. But. It was you, leaving the other stuff too, wasn’t it?”

“Yeee-eees?” Eddie drawls out, clearly unsure what reaction he should be having. Steve can practically see the mental battle he’s having over whether to apologise again or turn it into a big joke.

“I liked the seashell,” he blurts out, before Eddie’s expression can fall any further. “I mean, I liked all of them, drove me nuts trying to recognise the handwriting, but. They were all pretty cool. I just… I just don’t get why.” He takes a step forward, emboldened when Eddie doesn’t step back. Why did you do something so nice for me is what’s flying through his head, unsaid, but he can tell Eddie sees the question anyway.

“Because you deserve it,” Eddie tells him quietly. “It’s something stupid my dad used to do for my mom when I was a kid. He always said that life is meaningless anyway, you know, you should take pleasure in little things. He’d find the most random things that made him think of her and leave them around the house for her to find. And you always do stuff for other people so,” he shrugs, “I wanted to do something for you.”

“Oh,” Steve breathes. Eddie grins back, then holds up a finger.

“Hold on, I had the next thing already, may as well give it to you in person now.”

He disappears down the hall, leaving Steve to his own devices for a minute, the sounds of clattering and shuffling papers and muttered curses flying as he searches. It only takes him a moment and then he’s back, holding a fist out, dropping the object into Steve’s waiting palm.

It’s a guitar pick, the twin of the one Eddie always wears around his neck, but instead of red and black, the one in Steve’s hand is swirled in yellow and white. Eddie’s fingers linger, tracing the contours of the pick and brushing Steve’s skin.

Steve closes his own fingers, trapping Eddie’s hand in his, smiling when the other man blinks owlishly in surprise.

“Thank you,” he says quietly. “It’s perfect.”

Just read the latest of DSSCTM. I feel like I’m at a loss to try and tell you what your writing means to me, but I'm gonna try anyway. So know there’s so much more I want to say-- I just can’t find all the words. Your description of Eddie’s impression of the story-telling-- that’s how I feel when I read your work. I am literally transported to the space and time. I hang on to every. single. word. Every detail. This one was hard to read, but it was healing, too. I can imagine most of us reading this felt the same as Wayne. That utter relief to hear words of kindness and encouragement spoken about our boy. You managed to capture--in a conversation that didn’t even involve Eddie--the awe that we all feel for him, the reasons we’re all still here a year later, in love with this character. We are all still holding on to that same hope she sees in his eyes because it’s in ours, too. Thank you for loving Eddie and giving him (and us) what he deserves. Just thank you so incredibly much for existing and for sharing your immense talent with all of us. 

Stop I'm gonna cry. Thank you for seeing and feeling the love I put into my work. This means so so much to me.

ngl I cried while writing the parent/teacher conference scene, for precisely the reasons you described. I just absolutely love him, and I wanted R to act as the mouthpiece for us all when she tells Wayne the truth about what a remarkable person Eddie is.

It's a scene I've been excited to write since I started outlining this story. I'm so glad it was impactful for you, because that was the intention. Eddie is so special and has such a bright sprit despite being dealt a difficult hand. There is so much to admire about him. I could go on forever, we all could. I have so many feelings I had to channel them into a goddamn novel. The whole story is one gigantic love letter to him.

Pluto in first house - some observations about this interesting placement

What planets are responsible for dark academia vibes? Generally I've found pluto is a major player which is why I do quite a lot of pluto related posts on here. The other main ones are saturn, mars (oddly enough, but academia can be cutthroat), and uranus. Neptune can be to an extent but not as much and mostly points towards humanities and liberal arts.

I noticed that at least two people ( @augustinerose @auroraplume) who commented on one of my previous posts had pluto in the first house. Thanks to you both for the support and hope you don't mind me shouting you out here!Pluto is a scorpionic planet, but the first house is one of the less scorpionic houses. I personally have pluto in the fourth house which is interesting too as the fourth house is one you would think stereotypically is not very plutonic or scorpionic in any way. Like the first house it can indicate interesting hidden stuff that you might not expect.

So in honour of spotting these weird patterns and interesting aspects I've done another little pluto breakdown here:

Generally any time pluto or any other 'occult' outer planet is in a house that you wouldn't expect it to go with, expect interesting patterns to be revealed. For example:

Pluto in first house: can indicate something cryptic, occult, or hidden to do with image and identity

At it's most literal level it can indicate a job or social role related to the occult. For example someone who is a spy, criminologist, works in government, tarot reader, astrologer, works in data, or so on. Anything that involves dealing with large volumes of info where there may be hidden stuff. Yet can also indicate the job itself is hidden such as someone who has a day job and moonlights as something else, or someone who is hiding their line of work because their peers or family don't approve (such as someone who wants to become a musician, poet, actor or suchlike but faces social pressure)

If not your job it can also point to core aspects that may be hidden or occult. This CAN be a placement of clairsentience, paranormal, and psychic happenings but doesn't have to be. It can also indicate parapsychology or a family history of haunted places, secrets, or so on. It can ALSO indicate the closet. This can be the closet to do with gender or sexuality but also to do with other core aspects of ourselves such as potentially masking neurodivergencies or even simply hiding events or occurances that have had a formative impact on us.

At a more metaphorical level here are some random things this placement can point to:

• unpublished work

• secret diaries

• drastic curveballs in life (e.g. discovery of long lost relatives)

• 'social chameleon' personality

How does Pluto compare with other first house placements?

• tends to be deeper, more sinister, and more visceral than uranus and neptune in the first house. There is a genuine occult and slightly dangerous element to pluto in first house vs uranus, which can indicate lots of changes in life but ones that are within our control, pluto can indicate changes and wildcard events that are outside our control

• can be very go getting, socially shrewd, and a 'dark horse' but in a much less obvious way than mars. Mars in the first house can be assertive and successful but this tends to happen in a public or leadership role. if mars is the emperor, pluto in the first house is the power behind the throne. combine the two in the first house and you can end up with a personality that is revolutionary and controversial in leadership positions. this doesn't have to indicate world changing stuff it just could indicate a smart but controversial musician or leader of a band or director of a film - a head of department who makes polarising decisions for their subordinates etc - either way, these are people to look out for and keep on your side.

• pluto vs venus - venus will have an obvious aesthetic that they demonstrate physically. pluto in first house may not or may have very different aspects of their identity, for example living a normal life and then travelling abroad on a shoestring but without telling anyone. you may enter the home of someone with pluto in the first house and be surprised at what you find, such as a strange collection, or huge investment like an eccentric hobby, but not as much visible luxury as venus

• mercury in the first house may find thenselves in a role with lots of data or communications but has less access to the hidden side of affairs. for example - mercury will find themselves as the presenter of a tv show, youtube channel, or podcast. pluto will be on the editing team and responsible for a sustained social media campaign to push the channel. lots of access to people's data.

• pluto and saturn in first house can have similar tastes depending on their environment. in universities, college, and so on they may both be heavily involved with faculty and alma mater history but for very different reasons. saturn will preserve the traditions for traditions sake. pluto will investigate the history of a secret society, controversial book or paper, or unusual theory. may both like old varnished wooden furnishings and dark heavy fabrics, but for pluto it's much more of an aesthetic. Pluto could be an indiana Jones extra. Saturn is more likely to be a member of Hogwarts faculty.

Another random pluto fact:

Pluto in the first house makes for one of the most intriguing and unpredictable charts. It is honestly very hard to tell much about the lives these people may lead from their chart, even when other placements are accounted for.

You may have to look at multiple different placements as well as the aspects and other interactions of the chart. Even then there can be many layers as to how events play out. Events like the solar, saturn, and lunar return are very important to make sense of these charts. It can help to do a tarot reading to clarify.

• chalcedony (pictured) can be a good crystal for these people or any pluto related energy

One Kid Gone, Another Up and Vanished (part 17)

Just as the car swivels to a perfect parallel park, a familiar girl in a ponytail pops out of the passenger side and calls out in his direction, “Jeff!” Without faltering, Jeff immediately spins around on his heels and walks to the opposite direction. “Oh, hell naw.” 

Vessel Steve

[Vessel] moved to the edge of the stage. He ducked his head down and spread out his arms. The crowd cheered in response. [Vessel] looked up and repeated the gesture more pointedly. Those who stood under his shadow parted to the sides like the Red Sea. Eddie was nearby so he had to follow the crowd unless he wanted to be squished against sweaty bodies.

it’s taken me a while to get here, but i think i’m most proud of continuing to try to see the beauty in just about everything. despite all of the ugly, harsh things in this world. and even in darkness… because stars need a certain darkness to shine. ✨

“Baby?”

Steve lifts his head off the pillow to look at Eddie, his back arching in a much needed way after lying on his stomach for so long, and he ends up groaning appreciatively as he stretches his back a little more. It makes Eddie smile. All the small things do.

Overcome with sudden but gentle affection, Steve rolls over with a matching smile and comes to a stop lying halfway beneath Eddie, getting a glorious view of his deepening dimples.

“Yeah?”

“I’ve been thinking,” Eddie says, his hand coming up to brush Steve’s hair out of his forehead. Steve leans into his warmth a little further, feeling so incredibly loved when Eddie looks at him like that.

It’s infinite, what he feels for Eddie. What he feels with Eddie.

“Oh? ‘Bout what?”

Eddie leans down and brushes a kiss to the tip of Steve’s nose. “You,” he says. “Me. Us.”

Steve hums, wrapping himself in Eddie’s scent as he buries his face in his chest, his arms trapped between them. He can’t move. Can hardly breathe. It’s perfect, and Eddie always indulges his cat-like tendencies, as he calls it.

“Tell me about your thoughts?”

A hand weaves its way into his hair, scratching wonderfully along his scalp in lazy, soothing patterns.

“I’m gonna put pillows on the walls for you.”

“Hmm?”

“When we have our own place. I’m gonna put pillows on the walls for you. In the kitchen even, so you can sit on the floor and still be comfy. You can have a little nook for floor time with Robin. And it’s gonna be padded with pillows, but the ones that are still solid. Only a little soft. Still grounding.” Eddie mumbles, a little lost in thought like he’s still imagining it all unfold.

Steve melts, first rolling further into him and then back, so he can look up and meet those soft, soft eyes.

“That’s what you’re thinking about?”

“All the time. Never wanna tell you about it so I won’t ruin the surprise, but, I don’t know. Wanted to tell you. You’re gonna have bougie-ass wall pillows, angel.”

And Steve doesn’t know how to handle this. How to take it all, take everything Eddie gives him and live his life an unchanged man. His heart is going to burst one of these days. It’s gonna burst and it’s gonna go everywhere, remind the world for all eternity of the love they shared. Built. Shaped and reshaped in all the ways they needed.

“Everything,” he says, his voice weak with the awe he feels, his own hand coming up to Eddie’s cheek.

“Hmm?” Eddie’s nuzzling the palm of his hand, brushing kiss over kiss to the centre.

“You’re— You’re everything. Can’t believe it sometimes.”

“Only sometimes?” Eddie teases, making Steve laugh for the first time in hours. It’s easy. God, it’s so easy.

“Don’t be so full of yourself.”

“Oh, I’m gonna be full of som—“

Laughing, Steve claps his hand over Eddie’s mouth, shutting him up and revelling in the giggle that follows before Eddie nips on his palm.

“I hate you,” Steve grins, wrapping his arms around Eddie’s middle.

“Yeah, well,” he hums, fond affection settling permanently on that pretty, pretty face. “‘M still gonna put pillows on the wall for you.”

Steve sighs, hoping to relieve some of the intensity he’s feeling. It’s overwhelming, even after all this time.

“I love you.”

“I love you,” Eddie whispers, hovering above him in an almost-kiss. “Endlessly.”

Last song: Noel's Lament from Ride the Cyclone the Musical (the entire soundtrack actually. Noel's Lament and Ballad of Jane Doe more than the others though. Those Jane Doe operatic high notes really get me. I love a clear musical theatre soprano without riffs and belts, it's so underappreciated these days 😍)

Currently watching: Nothing actually. Just waiting patiently for Heartstoppers S2. I was thinking about watching Good Omens finally but you've all scared the shit outta me with your aggressively angry crying and I won't be doing that until S3 comes out now.

Currently reading: I just finished The Kaiju Preservation Society by John Scalzi. It was great but his An Old Man's War is one of my top ten favorite books so no surprise there. I also recently reread Bloodsucking Fiends by Christopher Moore. Still fantastic...gave me ideas, like I needed more 🙄.

Latest obsession: Outsider POV fics. They just hit different and it's interesting.
