FLCLlge AU (you can tell I put a lot of effort into that title)

Julia Raharu, often referred to by her middle name Jinyu, is an accomplished lawyer working for the legal firm Ikari and Kiryuin, Attorneys at Law who owns a Bel-Air passed down to her from her Italian father, frequently goes out for coffee with her friend and boss's daughter Satsuki Kiryuin, is a card-carrying member of Silverman Gym, and lives in a modest apartment close to her old alma mater of Tsurumaki University.

Coincidentally, that's where Jinyu's rambunctious, mischievous, neurodivergent, and sassy younger sister Haruha Raharu, or her stage name Haruko Haruhara as she prefers to be called, is currently attending, and now Jinyu is forced to house her little sis after Haruko got kicked out of her dorm room by her roommate Nonon Jakuzure for being a nuisance. The last time the two saw each other was when Jinyu graduated high school and moved to Tsurumaki University to study law, so it'll take a while for the two to get used to living together as sisters again. But deep down, beneath her middling empathy and penchant for trouble, Haruko desires for someone to be proud of her, as the girls' father believed that her destructiveness is only wasting her potential.

Also present is Tasuku Nandaba, the oafish but kindhearted leader of the university baseball team that Haruko joins, Adam Smith, an old money upperclassman that Haruko develops a crush on (and basically this universe's equivalent of Atomsk), Tasuku's precocious younger brother Naoto who Haruko becomes a big sister to, and other characters from FLCL.

Kill la Kill: Ragyo Kiryuin runs Ikari and Kiryuin with Gendo Ikari, her oldest daughter Satsuki Kiryuin is groomed to eventually take over the firm alongside Gendo's son Shinji, Satsuki also happens to be friends with Jinyu as the two go out for coffee and yoga every week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Nonon Jakuzure is head cheerleader and Haruko's former roommate, Ryuko is a member of a study group Jinyu makes Haruko join to keep her grades up. The two become friends and form a band called The Shooting Star Riders.

Neon Genesis Evangelion: Gendo Ikari runs Ikari and Kiryuin with Ragyo Kiryuin, his son Shinji is being set up to take over the firm alongside Satsuki, Asuka Langley Soryu is a member of Haruko's study group and later becomes one of the founding members of The Shooting Star Riders.

Gurren Lagann: Kamina Gurren is the passionate leader of the university's robotics club alongside his younger brother Simon Gurren and their friend Yoko Littner, Rossiu Adai works alongside Jinyu and Satsuki at Ikari and Kiryuin, Kittan is a member of Haruko's study group and a founding member of The Shooting Star Riders.

Little Witch Academia: Akko Kagari runs the DND club themed around her favorite book series Shiny Chariot du Nord, Diana Cavendish is a second generation student of Tsurumaki after her mother and friends with Nonon.

Brand New Animal: Michiru Kagemori is captain of the basketball team and Nazuna Hiwatashi is her personal cheerleader, Shirou Ogami serves as a history teacher at Tsurumaki, Barbara Rose is the dean of Tsurumaki.

How Heavy are the Dumbbells You Lift?: Jinyu and Satsuki are members of Silverman Gym, where they also take Haruko and Ryuko with them, Akemi Soryuin is a member of the student council and good friends with Milly Ashford.

One Piece: Brook is a fun-loving music teacher that Haruko grows a friendship with, Nico Robin is a campus therapist, Jinbe is a retired Olympic martial artist turned fitness doctor, Franky is a local mechanic who Haruko starts working for, and the other Straw Hat Pirates are basically the Hungry Days ads.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Josuke Higashikata is a member of Haruko's study group, Jotaro Kujo is a biology professor specializing in marine life, Rohan Kishibe publishes Haruko's favorite manga Pink Dark Boy.

Sailor Moon: Usagi Tsukino is a member of Haruko's study group and quickly develops a friendship with Asuka of all girls, Ami Mizuno and Minako Aino are members of the student council, Makoto Kino once dated Kittan, Rei Hino is a member of the archery club.

Code Geass: The student council of Ashford Academy is the student council of Tsurumaki University here with a few additions from the other shows listed here, Kallen Kozuki is a member of the cheerleading team.

Keijo: The elite class of Setouchi Academy are now the girls' swim team and friendly rivals with the boys' team, aka the boys from Free.

Dragon Ball: All the Z Fighters have long since graduated from Tsurumaki Academy. Goku is now a martial arts teacher, Vegeta has taken over his father's company Saiyan Inc. and entered a partnership with Capsule Corp, Piccolo is a former violent tough guy turned babysitter, Krillin has settled down with his crush Lazuli to start a family and became a police officer, Yamcha is a moderately successful baseball player, Tien Shinhan and his little friend Chiaotzu travel the world together, and Yajirobe runs a local coffee shop called Bean Daddy's, Frederick Coleman (aka Frieza) runs Saiyan Inc's chief rival and former business partner Coleman Industries, having inherited the position from his father Kingsley Coleman (aka King Cold).

My Hero Academia: Bakugo was forced to join the study group because his fellow students were tired of his bullying and attitude problems, Izuku is an aspiring comic book artist who credits his favorite superhero All Might as his inspiration for drawing.

Baccano: Issac and Miria are the local theater kids. Come on, look at those two and tell me they don't radiate theater kid energy!

Soul Eater: Maka and Soul are members of Haruko's study group, Black Star is a total weeb who wanted to become a ninja after watching one anime too many (yes, I get the irony) and it's up to Tsubaki to keep him down to earth; so same dynamic as always, Death the Kid is an upperclassman whose father was a student of Tsurumaki before him and his brother Asura, who is currently off working for the military, Crona lives with their mother Medusa, who works as a campus nurse. However, they'd much rather prefer spending time with Maka and Soul due to Medusa's emotional abuse.

meechi. legit part of the reason i can't really get into Baccano! lore is because so much of it is sort of. Incidental to the main focus of the series. Ultimately, while alchemy & immortality are major facets to the lore, most of the stories focus on the characters & their individual humanity. you might get some in - depth details of how immortality works or the world - building, but so much of that world - building is already existent on real - life affairs. Like, yeah, for sure. Most of the cast is immortal, and there's some weird funky stuff involving it, but the immortality itself actually plays, like. A minor role in the grand scheme of things, and really just puts some of the characters on about equal footing as some of the mortals who exist in the cast. Immortality exists as the catalyst & is constantly playing in the background of the series, but it affects such a small group of people and such a specific group of people that you can't really make AUs for other muses without having a pretty good understanding of the actors in play. Because everyone is so heavily interconnected with everyone else that it's really not Baccano! if your muse isn't directly involved with the plot in some manner. Which makes interactions easy, but it can also be really difficult for those who are unfamiliar with the series as a whole.

"oh, this guy is gonna be HORRIBLE, isnt he". and in the shows case thatd be wrong but in roommate's case, he's...he's so pathetic. he's not even the same guy at this point. (and also literally isn't. but)

He never even manages to intimidate anyone even once. not even mr beast and ninja fortnite, (part of a team called Dubious Duo) who he just. VERY much annoyed via "ruining" twitch. He also got turned into a meaty handpuppet and fused to another clone of a different character by BILL CIPHER, of all characters but then immediately fell into a hole. He got his shit beaten out of him by a 19 year old punk catboy JUST before this, too. the punk catboys name is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart BUT HE IS IN NO WAY RELATED TO THE REAL GUY. HES LITERALLY JUST. SOME RANDOM TEENAGER.

30. What piece of yours do you think is underrated

this one is tough! as I haven't been drawing a lot of full pieces/posting very very sporadically this year.

like what is considered "underrated"? is it notes? funny enough I think before the pandemic my art used to get more notes, so, would someone consider my recent works "underrated" in that sense? it's tricky. 🤔 I know it's easy to blame the algorithm but there are so many factors at play that we cannot qualitatively control for. being on the right platform at the right time, drawing for the right fandom at the right time, catering to a suitable audience, how you format the post (like do you show closeups or just post the full illust or crop your art? do you just post a video instead??), and a suitable caption (e.g. something witty, relatable, funny, or just something basic like emojis or just 1 word)

for me I consider a work "underrated" or underperforming (I think is a better word for it), is if the drawing is not interesting enough that nothing is said about it. either about either subject matter or artistic techniques. for me connecting to others through art is so integral to the artist experience. if a post gets 1000 notes but it gets 0 comments, then i consider it a failure. if something gets 100 notes but it gets many comments, i would consider it the opposite of "underrated'.

like would original drawings be more underrated than fanart? 🤔 people have trouble connecting to ocs since they don't know the source material, so often those kinds of posts would get less notes or less comments. just interesting things to think about.

it's easy to go into the archive and look at the older stuff that possibly didn't get seen around as much, but i'll try to pull some more recent pieces.

I think this 6 fanarts did badly in comparison to other works because the trend appeared in 2020 but I wasn't able to complete this that year ^__T and the trend didn't come back in 2021... guess I'm not a trend setter..................... sighs 😔 haha

I do want to try this kind of fanart compilation again though! I'm bad at drawing under pressure though so I would have to come up with my own prompts...

this Kekkai Sensen x Trigun piece! I think the crossover alienated fans of both series bc you had to enjoy both T__T and I also didn't draw characters from either series interacting so I don't think it ended up that interesting? bc I wanted to make this a diptych (it's clear that there's a middle divide now that I mention it) but the triptych didn't end up happening!

besides both being created by Yasuhiro Nightow, I haven't come across that many fans who are fans of both, actually...? it's not in the case where the author's work is more or less similar in tone (or same universe), like Baccano x Durarara, Pandora Hearts x Vanitas no Carte, Higurashi x Umineko. I think something like trigun x cowboy bebop would have worked better because people are always unfortunately comparing the two hahahaha.

Oooh Baccano crossover! Do you know how healing looks like for these immortals? Cuz I've seen how severed fingers heal in Baccano, they just simply float back to their hands with the blood they lost trailing along with it.

How would they react to the elixir healing her? Like perhaps she was cooking with them and she cut herself and then they saw the cut just fade away in seconds.

“don’t ask me about my baccano crossover”

Oh no, I guess I did bring this on myself. To be clear, the chances of this story ever seeing the light of day are next to none, but here we go. Placing under the cut because things do get pretty dark.

If you've never seen/read Baccano! (and you should see it, everyone should see it. Watch the English dub.) then what you need to know here is that the world of Baccano is simultaneously very grounded and completely insane, and there is one particular aspect that showcases this duality in fine form.

It's only vaguely hinted at in the show, but in the light novels there is a fanatical, Christian-adjacent cult that serves as an occasional antagonist. This cult's beliefs focus on the torture and murder of children (these books were written in the early 2000s, long before Q*A*on and their nonsense, just fyi). They believe that they can, in a primarily symbolic sense, turn a chosen child into a sacrificial God that they can put all of their pain and misery onto in order to lead completely happy lives. So these kids are subjected to constant torture almost from birth until they are ritually sacrificed on their 10th birthday. And this cult has operated in different locations and forms since at least the 17th century, leading the deaths of probably countless kids over time.

So that’s pretty fucked up, eh? I happened to reread the light novels while also re-watching s1, and this idea just sort of festered in my mind until it took shape.

I'm serious when I say the stuff this cult is said to have done makes the original Martyrs film look easy. Their abuse turned a boy into what is effectively a sociopath with a pathological need to make other people smile (so he can understand what happiness looks like; he's also one of the best and most interesting characters).

So imagine, if you wish to, a scenario where little Ava gets abducted by these people and subjected to this kind of torture for anywhere from a few weeks to years. She suffers through the most awful abuse imaginable while being told that she is their new God (the novels make clear that the cult prays to and thanks the sacrificed children while they're being tortured as part of the ritual). Eventually, she gets rescued by her mom, but while they are escaping from the cultists, the car accident happens, leaving her safe from the cult but orphaned, disabled, and stuck in St. Michael's.

So think about how reluctant and unhappy Ava is to be involved with the OCS in the show, and then multiply that by 1000. She's properly terrified of these people who have kidnapped her and is constantly searching for hints and signs that they are related to the cult from her childhood. She really, really doesn't want to be their Warrior Nun, which feels a little too much like being their "God", so she runs fast and far the first chance she gets.

And it's not so easy to bring her back this time. No tough love from Mary or demon fights in cozy towns are going to be enough. It will take active effort on the part of the entire OCS to better themselves as an Order before Ava will feel safe enough to come back. And they'll have to make an actual effort to understand her motivations and her trauma instead of belittling and berating her and just expecting her to fall in line.

Finding guys to talk to

To let you know I'm a big Narita fan, has read Baccano(Vol 22 soon), DRRR, DRRR SH, Izaya to series, Etsusa Bridge, Vamp, Hariyama, DMDP, Toaru Fanfare and ToaruxDRRR crossover. Still have more to go.

Side note would be I love Toaru and Monogatari too, with Kagerou Daze and Umineko being other series I rarely talk about but still like.

My favorite characters are usually the type where they're unfit to be a hero but tries extremely hard to do so for their loved ones or other reasons, they could be aware they're trying to be a hero or not, thinking it's the right thing to do, but what's for sure is that the one they protect usually views them as the hero, usually the villains, cry babies, normal person or a coward, notable examples would be Jacuzzi, Roy, Nader, Accelerator etc, or people that goes on a redemption or revenge arc for something small or big, examples are Accelerator, Aleister, Nader, Seiichi etc.

3, 8, and 16 for the end of year meme!

3. How have you grown as a rper this year? god i wish i had a good answer to this. i feel like my rping has been alllll over the place this year. overall i think i've been in a really solid rhythm this year, in terms of generally being happy with my writing. getting back into second person narration on this blog has been VERY refreshing, && it gave me a bit of a confidence boost when i was coming back from kinda taking the summer && early fall off because i was so busy. more specifically, i think i've done a really great job of writing flexible verses, figuring out ways to thrust my muses into situations™ that still have a cohesive story/explanation... i've been really happy with the starters i write, even the unplotted ones. OH! not relevant so much on this blog but over on @whsprhouse i spent a lot of this year writing characters who are very out of my comfort zone in terms of personality, speech patterns, && uh... a flirtatious and sexual nature. lucius from ofmd && laszlo from wwdits were my hardest muses to write this year, but also two that i feel REALLY good about. so that's something.

8. Talk about one of your favorite headcanons you posted this year. easily the answer is the bard library / general coven structure, although notation spells && the alchemy-to-bard-magic pipeline post is a close contender. as i was developing all of this lore, i realized it's really the most worldbuilding i've maybe ever done for a canon character, && it's super exciting to me. i can't wait to see where it takes me as i continue. getting to build these headcanons while working with an orchestra was sooooo magical tbh.

16. Wildcard: talk about anything that you want to that happened this year! is it cheating if i just gush a little about writing w you && getting into baccano? this is not the first time an rp partner from another fandom has been the reason i just decide to give a new media a shot, but almost every single time i've liked something enough to stick with it, it's become an absolutely formative part of like... my personality. (see: gravity falls, undertale). i am having a great time, very much enjoying writing jacuzzi, && it's been SOOO fun getting to just figure out crossover stuff with you, come up with a verse, etc etc etc. also, i just eat up everything you post. your dedication to your muses && this series is so inspiring && honestly i completely understand how you write such a huge portion of the cast because... they're just that interesting. more of them are poking at my brain too. anyway — what a great way to end the year, honestly. i'm having the time of my life on this wild ride, && i am very grateful to you for that !

Hi everyone! My name is Albatross (20, they/them) and this is a rp blog for The Long Quiet from Slay the Princess---or at least, my personal interpretation. I'm extremely OC and Crossover friendly and just looking forward to writing with people. I've put additional information and portrayal notes under the cut for the sake of convenience.

Naturally, I don't claim to own the character of the Long Quiet nor the content of the game Slay the Princess.

PORTRAYAL NOTES:

I'm using the assumption that the Voices are traits assigned to the Long Quiet by the Princess during the chapter before they appear. While not inherently present within him, I portray them as inherently tied TO him, and more or less treat them as both their own autonomous presences while also being based on traits the Long Quiet displays.

When referring to the Long Quiet, I'll generally use his full title for the sake of distinguishing him from the Voice of the Hero. That said, he'll likely introduce himself as The Hero or will likely be introduced to other muses as The Hero unless he is present in his Godly form.

I take the existence and purpose of the Long Quiet to mean that his physical manifestation cannot die---or at least, cannot permanently be killed. I'm generally a little loosey-goosey with how this works, so depending on the situation, he might wake up unharmed later, he might regenerate immediately, or he might shunt himself forcefully into an alternate timeline where he didn't die.
