The Muppet Show Reboot (Concept) S1E4: Bette Midler
Scooter: Bette Midler? 15 seconds to curtain Ms Midler!
Bette Midler: Thank you, Scooter, I only need one. *she snaps her fingers and a large puff of smoke surrounds her and when it’s gone, she’s fully dressed and made up. The smoke alarm goes off*
Bette Midler: I knew we’d get on like a house fire!
The opening number is Hello Dolly, sung by Midler herself. The show is heavier in musical theater numbers, mostly sung by Midler (she’s a queen). The backstage plot involves the theater being taken over by coven of witches. The witches are making potions in the cafeteria and looking all over the theater for ingredients (including eye of toad which makes Kermit Very nervous).
The episode ends with Kermit learning that the witches are actually Bette Midler’s coven and they leave when she does. This is revealed by Bette joining them for “I put a spell on you,” the closing number is “the last midnight” from Into The Woods because I really want Bette Midler to sing it, when the song ends she snaps her fingers and the coven disappears.
Kermit: Thank you Bette for sending your coven home! What can we do to repay you?
Bette Midler: I do still need an eye of toad…
Kermit: Well… I am actually a frog so a bit different…
Bette Midler: We all make substitutions sometimes!

She’s not a volcanic belter like Whitney or Mariah or Aretha, but her falsetto can float off into the stratosphere, into deep space, and her lower register, those low notes can drill down into the core of the earth without disturbing the ground beneath her feet. If you eliminate all context, if you know absolutely nothing about her, and her collaborators, and her situation-if she’s just a random girl on the cover with a random blurry guy in the background on the cover-then this is a wonderful, mid-’90s R&B debut that establishes Aaliyah as a teenaged superstar with a smoky and sinuous voice and a truly staggering charisma-to-force ratio. I don’t know if there’s a single album in pop-music history more fundamentally cursed than Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number. I haven’t the slightest idea what to do with this record. What do we do with this record? I’m asking. It’s called Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number. Kelly’s chapter in Aaliyah’s life would be denying Aaliyah another title she so greatly deserved: ‘survivor.’”Īaliyah’s first album, largely written and produced by R. Kelly with any credit for her career, despite him being one of the main reasons we learned about Aaliyah in the first place.” But the conclusion Kathy ultimately comes to is “disregarding R. Kathy writes, “I also didn’t want to dignify R. She didn’t want to disrespect Aaliyah’s legacy. Kathy’s book starts with a brief chapter in which she says that when she started writing her book she intended to more or less write R. That is according to a new biography called Baby Girl: Better Known As Aaliyah, written by Kathy Iandoli. As Aaliyah would explain to Vibe a few years later, “I sang for him, and he liked my sound.” Kelly’s working on his first album, Barry brings his fame-hungry, superstar-in-the-making 12-year-old niece, Aaliyah, to the studio to meet R. Kelly’s on his way to becoming a superstar. So Barry’s in Chicago producing a play, and he stumbles across a young, fame-hungry, high-school-dropout busker named Robert Sylvester Kelly. He’s an artist manager, he produces theater, he married-and divorced, quite acrimoniously-Motown icon Gladys Knight. So yeah, after Star Search, Aaliyah’s uncle, her maternal uncle Barry Hankerson, at this point is a somewhat enigmatic show-business big shot. Every major celebrity’s got their own “Michael Jordan got cut from his high school varsity team” moment. Also note that Aaliyah still remembers getting three and three-quarters stars on Star Search. It’s worth noting that Craig Kilborn, historically, is not often the voice of reason, or restraint. I just wanted you to hear her voice, unadorned. She acts embarrassed, she says, Yeah, I was on Star Search when I was 10, I sang “My Funny Valentine.” And Craig plays a little clip of Chet Baker’s version of “My Funny Valentine,” and then he asks Aaliyah a really excellent question.Īny question that gets her to sing is an excellent question. She tells Craig that her name means “The highest, most exalted one-the best.” Craig brings up Star Search. She’s on Craig Kilborn’s show in 2000 to promote Romeo Must Die. Here is Aaliyah, recounting her Star Search experience, to Late Night Host You Forgot About Craig Kilborn. Did Pitbull lose to Nas on Star Search? Or when you won did Ed McMahon lead you backstage and push you into an abyss? Billy Porter won, I guess. Alanis Morissette, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Usher, Pitbull. Beyoncé, Destiny’s Child, Girls Tyme quite infamously lost on Star Search. Has anyone of consequence ever won Star Search? Aaliyah lost on Star Search. At 10 years old she went on Star Search and lost. At 6 years old she had one line in a school production of Annie-the line was “You’re gonna get the paddle.” She starred in 42nd Street, she starred in Hello, Dolly!, she sang at weddings and parties, she sang a lot of Whitney Houston songs, et cetera. Her family moved to Detroit when she was 5. Aaliyah Dana Haughton was born in Brooklyn, in Bed-Stuy, in 1979.

I find this whole "director vibe" very sexy. 😉 Is it just me? 🥴 Gene Kelly, doing important director things, on the set of "Hello Dolly" (1969). 💕

so whilst i was gone on my super prolonged hiatus, my chorus went on a trip to NYC and we saw Hello, Dolly! with my QUEEN and IDOL Bernadette Peters and lemme just tell you that there is something so amazing about seeing someone you have literally based your own acting style off of...
also she looked me IN THE EYES during “before the parade passes by” bc I was in the front row of the mezzanine (best place to sit, in my opinion). anyway, theres a story

I'm in my school's production of "Hello, Dolly!" Here are some highlights so far
The director can cartwheel
feathers everywhere
That one part in “Put on Your Sunday Clothes” when we have to RUN OFFSTAGE AT TOP SPEEDS OR WE GET KICKED IN THE FACE
“HOLY CABOOSES"
That one guy who knows pressure points. I saw him take down three girls in less than a minute as I watched on in fear
"Sheep dip"
"Just because I'm in show choir doesn't mean I'm gay!"
My director talking about Dungeons and Dragons in depth with two students
Someone's McDonald's bag tore and their fries went all over the floor. One of my cast members ate them off the floor
The one guy who climbed in through a window
It hasn’t even been a full month. I love it so much

Psychedelism translation (English)
Updated translation : new site
Dolly¹ shot through the chest with a cry Eaten up all the way to that sad page The hummed love song trails away
Mary¹ pretended to be a toy Upside down, a barefoot rhythm Rocking all the way into the head
Bloom², psychedelic dream Dazzled by the spotlight, a spiral Nightly² negative dreams Dropping from the tightrope to the end
Chest torn open, Mary’s¹ crying face Eaten up all the way to intoxication backstage A tragic curtain call, the curtain falls
Unable to dance, Carrie¹ is all alone A period, draining water from the lilies Cooling down from obscene passion
Bloom, psychedelic dream Dazzled by the spotlight, a spiral Nightly negative dreams Dropping from the tightrope to the end
Bloom, psychedelic dream If one is dazzled by the spotlight, it’s the ceiling Nightly negative dreams From the tightrope, dropping, dropping, dropping——. Bloom, psychedelic dream Dazzled by the spotlight, a spiral Nightly negative dreams Dropping from the tightrope to the end
- - - -
T/N: ¹These names all seem to be references to horror films. Dolly might be the doll from Dolly Dearest, which ends when Dolly is shot. The first Mary might be Mary Shaw from Dead Silence, whose vengeful spirit took over a doll. The second Mary might be a reference to Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II. And Carrie is most likely the Carrie of the famous movie by the same name.
²Both of these lines use wordplay that doesn’t translate well. “Bloom, psychedelic” is “saite, saikederiku” – the bolded parts sound similar. “Nightly negative” is “maiyoru, mainasu” – again, these words sound similar

Ok I don't mean to be dramatic but I love Quinn and I would literally DIE for him. I just want to know literally everything about him
Anon, SAME. Quinn is my child and I love him so much. You know how the other day, I had someone ask for Rhodey facts, so I made this post? I’m using your ask as an excuse……… it’s time for Quinn facts!!!!!!!!!
(The newest installment of the cricket series, which can be found right here, features Quinn’s introduction.)
Anyway!!! Facts time.
TW: addiction (not him but a relative); difficult family situation
- Quinn is from Grand Rapids, Michigan, and he’s at college on a full-ride academic scholarship. He wouldn’t be able to go to college without help, because he……….. sort of comes from a very broken home. He lives with his grandparents on his dad’s side, and while they give him a place to sleep, they aren’t the greatest guardians.
- The reason he lives with his grandparents is because his mom has gone off the map after several stints in rehab and his dad is serving a pretty hefty sentence in prison for something related to drugs.
- Quinn is a fantastic actor because he’s spent his entire life pretending everything is okay when it’s not. :)
- I’m so sorry. Okay, enough about his depressing home life. Or at least let’s make the transition out of it. Quinn emerges from a troubled childhood surprisingly stable in terms of his mental health, mostly thanks to the escapism that art like music and acting provided him with during his formative years. We won’t do a deep psychological dive on Quinn right now, but once he gets to college, he’s much better off.
Wooo! I promise this will get a lot less heavy. More Quinn facts under the cut!
- Quinn is deaf! There’s a tiny little tidbit in his introduction fic where Nando realizes he’s wearing hearing aids. This was a part of his character that sort of hit me out of the blue, and once it came I knew it was going to stick. He used to be able to hear a little, but his hearing loss got worse as he got older, so he can’t hear pretty much anything at all without the hearing aids in. He has a medically-mandated single dorm room, which may become important later, :), and he has a lot of really lovely ways of experiencing his other four senses which I’d honestly like to write an entire fic about, so more on that soon. I think.
- He’s a chemistry major, which comes out of left field when it’s the second thing you learn about his interests after theatre, but theatre for him is very much a passionate hobby that he could never see becoming a job. He’s very academically gifted, and his plans after college include medical school.
- Because I’m a headass, apparently, I’ve amassed a brief (non-exhaustive) list of roles Quinn has played in musicals, so, in no particular order:
- Barnaby in Hello, Dolly!, Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors, Bert in Mary Poppins, maybe even the Scarecrow in Wizard of Oz at one point, and then during his freshman year of college, because this is my party and I said so, he gets cast as Evan Hansen. I will write about that at some point because I need it in my life.
- Quinn is…….. sort of a pain in the ass, but in the most unintentional way possible. I mean this to say that he is small but mighty, and he’s sort of…. formal to the point of being a little fussy sometimes? He has Felix from The Odd Couple energy. Also Edna Mode energy.
- Like, seriously, if he’s on the crew for a show instead of the cast and you don’t have your shit together backstage and you’re holding up the productivity of the production, he will stand on a chair and chew you out.
- Not to be like, haha, spoilers, but since he and Nando do in fact become a couple, I can step in here and say that Nando is slightly terrified of grouchy Quinn for this reason, but in a healthy way. Quinn will, for example, chide him for trying to get into bed to cuddle when he still smells like hockey. Like, “no, no sir, not in my bed, Sebastián”—
- — and yes, by the way, Quinn refuses to call him anything but Sebastián.
- But anyway, Rhodey says Nando is whipped. This isn’t “Nando & Quinn facts” (I’ll do that if someone asks in a heartbeat, though), but Rhodey and Nando definitely have this conversation:
Nando: I am not whipped.
Rhodey: Dude, yes you are. If you look up ‘whipped’ in the dictionary, there’s a picture of Quinn dragging you across campus by the ear.
Nando: >:(
- He is extremely handy with a sewing machine (he made that Warbler costume!!!!!) and he can knit. He wears scarves religiously in the winter, and I mean religiously; you can’t find him going to class without one. He’s the kind of person who would wear dress shoes on a plane. (He hates to travel, but. You get the picture.) He doesn’t own a pair of jeans, and the most informal he will ever get is stealing Nando’s big hockey sweatshirt.
- He’s literally like five foot five.
- Nando can pick him up with one arm.
I definitely could have more to say about him, but I should stop for this post before it gets out of hand. My ask box is very much open if you want to say/ask anything or just shout at me about any of these boys. And I’m going to tag Quinn under “crickets” from this point forward, because, as we have discussed, he’s pretty much one.
Thank you very much for the ask!!!!!!!!

Episode 21- Lucky Arrival
Tumblr media
After the duo stage the popularity of 4 Star and Starlight shoots up. Despite the fact that Mizuki and Hime aren’t in school anymore, people wanted to see the idol schools they went to. This leads to the two schools receiving an influx of applications. Madoka invites Raki to help her give the tour as Rin overslept and Raki rushes to Starlight. When she arrives, Madoka is nowhere to be found. Instead, Raki finds Nono and Risa. Raki goes up to them and says she can sense they’re great idols but she can’t recognize them. They smile and claim that they’ll introduce themselves the only way they know how.
Nono and Risa perform Promise Carat. Nono wears the Black Denim Dolly Coord and Risa wears the Romantic Bijoux Coord. The live gathers a small crowd who clap. Risa blushes and hides behind Nono who poses. Raki asks them why she’s never seen them and they mention that they live in Hokkaido and went back there for a while. “There’s actually another pair of idols we’re waiting for.” Cut to a gazebo with two figures sitting in it.
“The entire world revolves around…” Kokone rushes out of the gazebo to meet Nono and Risa. Miyabi stands gracefully and lets Raki know who they are. “When we heard about Starlight being famous we remembered we were students here too!” Raki says she’s never seen an idol like Miyabi before. Kokone spots group of girls on tour and rushes toward them.
“Kokone, wait!” Miyabi ran after her, “We were supposed to look for Sakura together. Kokone has the girls do her catchphrase and performs Love Like Caramelize. Nono, Risa and Raki find her at the end of her performance. Raki rushes up to Kokone and she takes her along to the next group of girls. Raki stops her and says that Miyabi needs her. Kokone apologizes and rushes back. Miyabi sighs and goes to the Starlight Queen Palace. They find Akari decorating it in preparation for that part of the tour. Akari greets them all and offers them cake which Kokone and Raki happily indulge in. Miyabi asks where they can find Sakura and is told to look at the track field.
Miyabi, Kokone and Raki walk toward the tracks and find Sakura meditating there. “I’ve been waiting for this.” She says as she stands up.  Miyabi walks to face her and the two pull out their cards as if they are about to duel. “Wait!” Raki cries. She asks if she can perform with them and Miyabi and Sakura ask if she’ll be able to keep up. Raki shows them her Red dress design (the one in her sketch not the promotional cards. See the image below for reference) The three perform Light Pink Day Tripper but only Sakura and Miyabi do the appeal. One the song is over, Sakura and Miyabi face each other with a smile but Raki seems sullen. Kokone asks her what’s wrong but Raki forces a smile. The episode ends with a shot of the clover in Raki’s sketchbook.
Episode 22- Going Our Way
Tumblr media
4Star’s tour is underway and starts with all the aspiring applicants and fans watching an interview with the old S4 (Hime, Yozora, Yuzu, Tsubasa) This brings back the purple cloud mascot that interviewed them in Aistars season 1. Backstage, Yume, Rola, Koharu, Mahiru and Ako are sitting in a dressing room. They’re in a circle holding hands with their eyes closed as the music in the background fades out. The opening plays.
After the S4 interview we get a shot of the crowd where we spot Saya, Natsuna and Sumomo. Natsuna is in a bad mood and Saya and Sumomo brought her to see Rola but she hasn’t appeared yet. The crowd disperses and Natsuna runs up on stage toward Tsubasa. Tsubasa panics and pushes Natsuna away but Hime catches her. Yuzu reassures her with a smile and Yozora asks, “Are you lost?” She looks at Natsuna’s jacket and notices a Spice Chord accessory. Tsubasa walks up to her and squats.
“If you like Spice Chord then-” Tsubasa is cut short by Saya and Sumomo’s arrival.
They explain things to Tsubasa and she sighs, “I see, Rola is currently occupied but I promise you’ll meet her today. I’ll give you three a personal tour for now.” Tsubasa takes the girls around and stops once they get to the balcony. Natsuna hasn’t said a word and Tsubasa asks to be left alone with her. After a few seconds of silence, Natsuna says that she’s been chasing after Rola for the past year.
“I’ve never really seen idols like me but Rola was. She wore clothes like I did and sang songs I wanted to sing too,” Natsuna whispers. Tsubasa smiles and stares at the sky.
“When I was younger, I wanted to be the top of Song Class. When Akari was younger, she wanted to be just like Ichigo. Being inspired by others is a beautiful thing, but you should remember that you’re a star on your own. Even my Spice Chord and hers are different. So will yours.” Natsuna seems unconvinced. Tsubasa shows her the Girl’s Flag Coord. Natsuna’s eyes light up. She sashays off and beckons Natsuna to follow her. We get to see Dancing Days.
Natsuna finally understands and tells Tsubasa that she can take her back to Sumomo and Saya. Tsubasa takes her to the dressing room just as Yume and Rola walk out. Saya and Sumomo as Rola walks toward her. Natsuna stands shyly behind Tsubasa.
“Do you love Spice Chord?” Rola asks. Natsuna’s eyes meet hers. She nods shyly.
“Rola, we’re up on stage.” Yume reminds her.
“Just a minute Yume.” Rola rushes back into the dressing room and brings out her bag. She hugs Natsuna and gives her the Black Shadow Coord and rushes onto stage. Natsuna blushes as she holds the cards and Saya and Natsuna take her back to the crowd to watch the stage. The five Stars girls stand in the Dressing Room and make a star shape with their fingers before appearing on stage to perform We Are Stars in the event coords above
Episode 23- A Girl like Me
Tumblr media
This episode starts in Tamaki’s office. Tamaki is watching footage of one of Raki’s recent concerts. As Raki sings ‘Your Entrance’ when suddenly her aura disappears. Tamaki’s eyes widen as she watches Raki finish the performance. She turns to Sora and Koharu across the desk. “Is this the first time this has happened?”
“No, I’m afraid not,” Koharu says, “Recently, Raki hasn’t been herself.”
“Yes,” Sora adds, “She lost her way somehow and isn’t designing as she usually does.”
Tamaki places her head on her hands and sighs. “This is something much deeper than dresses. Whatever is going on is something Raki feels about herself.”
*Opening plays*
We cut to Raki’s room as she stares at a blank page of her sketchbook. Madoka and Rin sit outside with PP and Wakaba. Akari, Ichigo and Yume arrive in a car and join them at Star Harmony. Koharu lays out the situation for all of them. “We need to cheer Raki up. Whatever made her want to design clothes seems to have stopped and she can’t perform. She isn’t the same as she used to be.” Wakaba suggests that they show her their Aikatsu Cards as the rest remain silent. Yume and Akari turn to Ichigo who has a stern look on her face. Koharu follows Yume’s eyes to Ichigo as well.
“She needs to find her rice scoop.” Ichigo remarks, “Whatever made her an idol…she knows it herself.”
“In that case,” Koharu says, “We’re all going to help her remember that.” Rin and Madoka head off to Starlight looking for Juri. If anyone knew passion, it would be her. Koharu and Yume went to Venus Ark and Wakaba went to Raki’s room. Ichigo and Akari left last and no one knew where they went.
At Venus Ark, Yume and Koharu begged Elza to come see Raki. Yume stepped forward and clasped her hands “You inspired her very first PR. You let me surpass my own limits! Elza please!” Elza’s gaze remained cold and she stood up to face the sea.
“If she can’t get over a simple rut then she should reconsider being an idol.” Elza said.
Koharu huffed and straightened her shoulders, “If I hadn’t helped you as a designer would you be where you are now?” Elza turns in disgust. Koharu doesn’t flinch and pulls out her own sketchbooks. She lays it on Elza’s desk and flips through the designs she had for Perfect Queen. “Elza, even you needed help. Right now Raki needs you and you should be there.” The scene ends
Wakaba and Raki are sitting on her bed talking about their families. Wakaba mentions that she misses them as she’s been so busy as an idol but knows they understand. Raki smiles lightly as Juri bursts in with Rin and Madoka. Raki is shocked as Juri showers her with roses. “I’m told someone here is feeling down” (I’m not including the Spanish because I don’t speak it so I can’t do it well) Rin tells her to calm down. Madoka offers Raki a candy pop. She stares at it for a while and curls up. “You’re all such good idols and I’m glad I met you but-I’m not sure I can be that.”
We see a flashback of Raki and her sister. Raki first tried to dress like her sister and emulate her style. We see a small Raki in her sister’s labcoat. As Raki grows older she starts to dress more like herself and gets the idea for Maple Ribbon. Her sister supports this and we see Raki receiving her Aikatsu Pass. As this memory plays in Raki’s head we see her eyes light up a little.
In the Starlight Palace Akari nods as she chairs a Starlight Queen meeting. Otome, Sakura and Mizuki are in a circle as Ichigo watches. Mizuki stands. “I may not know her well but I can’t stand by and watch an idol lose her way.”
“Do you think we’re doing too much?” Ichigo asks, “I don’t want us to smother Raki.” Otome shakes her head furiously but Sakura stops her.
“Raki’s been this way for a while,” Sakura starts, “Ever since her stage with me and Miyabi…she wanted to see all sorts of idols but I’m not sure she knows what she wants to be herself. She’s shifted between all sorts of looks and has done a little of everything.”
“She can be whatever idol she needs to be. We just need to remind her.” Mizuki says and Akari decides to end the meeting.
Madoka receives a text message and asks Raki to go to the stage in Star Harmony. The message says that Raki should go alone and she does. Wakaba looks worried. As she enters the empty seats, she notices Ichigo standing in the spotlight. “Raki,” she says, “We know that something’s wrong but we don’t know what. We want you to know whatever idol you’ll be we’ll all support you.” Four more lights appear. “And so prepare to see four idols who came into their own just like you will.”
Sweet Sweet Girls Talk starts playing. The stage is a garden with a gazebo and tea cups. It’s very flowery and elegant. The Starlight Queens appear. Otome wears the Cotton Color Coord, Akari wears the Rose Party Coord, Mizuki wears the Moon French Coord and Sakura wears the Noble Coord.
Tumblr media
As the stage ends, Ichigo invites Raki on stage. She takes the mic (It’s the same one from the Ichigo movie) “I’m grateful you all did this for me.” The other girls walk in, revealing they were listening to the performance, “I started designing to make clothes I wanted to wear. I want Maple Ribbon to be something girls like me can wear.” She takes a pause and looks around the room. “But I’m a girl who wants to wear whatever she likes. All sorts of clothes exist in my brand. Thank you for reminding me I don’t have to be anything to make it.”
The episode cuts to black but lights up as we get Idol Activity(All Stars Version) in the Shining Line Coords. During the performance we cut to scenes of Raki interacting with the other protagonists.
Episode 24- Lucky Time
Tumblr media
The episode starts with Honey Cat decorating Star Harmony. We see Reflect Moon giving readings to the Star Harmony students. In a dressing room Raki and Wakaba are having their hair done by Sora and Mahiru. There’s an event going on named Lucky Time. Crowds begin to gather and Hariu checks the tickets. As the crowd comes on stage, we see that Pure Palette are the MCs. They thank the audience for coming and mention that Honey Cat will start the event.
You X I plays. They perform in their first Friends Dresses with their Miracle Aura. After that Maika and Ema mention that they’re here today to help two girls to form their own Friends. Wakaba and Raki walk on stage and the crowd begins to cheer. Raki and Wakaba reveal that their Friends unit is Clover Ring. Mirai blushes as she and Karen hold hands in the crowd. Raki gives a short speech about how far she’s come. She thanks Wakaba for being there for her and they run backstage to the Dressing Rooms. Raki wears the Pastel Purple Line Coord and Wakaba wears the Cherry Link Coord.  They sing Aikatsu Friends. Episode 25- Venus Dream
Tumblr media
The episode starts on Venus Ark. Aria and Carol Alice stand watching the sea as Rey walks out to meet them. “Elza wants to speak to you,” They walk into Elza’s office as Alice adjusts her bonnet.
“Alice! I placed my trust in you once and you failed me. Right now Venus Ark needs you more than ever. We must catch up to the other schools so all Venus Ark students simply must debut.” She pushes a letter forward. Alice picks it up and smiles. “Isn’t that the brand you admire?” Alice nods. “Very well. Aria, take her to the muse.” Rey sees them out of the room. The opening plays (This would be Twilight Etranger with scenes of everyone)
Aria rows the mini-boat Elza gave them but they’re making no progress. Carol admits she’s never rowed a boat and Aria said she did so with Hime as a child. Carol swirls her hand in the water. They drift vaguely along the sea as Aria places flowers in the water. “This way we won’t get lost.” Aria says. Carol sighs as the sun continues to burn intensely. Aria lets her hair down and starts humming her song. Carol joins her and they hum together to lighten the mood. As they sing and drift at sea, a third voice joins them. They turn in horror only to see Mirai in a floating tube. She waves at them and swims over. Karen stands over her own ship at the dock and has them brought in.
Alice and Aria sit by a white table in a small room with wide windows letting the sunlight in. After being refreshed Karen asks them why they were drifting at sea. Aria mentions that they were on their way to the ship. Mirai tells them it was a strange way to get there. Carol covers her face and stands before Karen.
“I- I’d like to wear… Classical Ange.” She stammers.
“Hmmm,” Karen holds her chin. “So this is what Raki’s Pass has brought about,” She steps forward and uncovers Carol Alice’s face. “You’re clearly a beautiful girl Alice. A graceful lady who should wear fitting clothes.” Karen takes her hand and rushes over to the desk. Aria smiles as well. Karen gives Alice the cards for the Mermaid Blue Coord. Carol takes the cards and places to them on her chest.
“Thank you, for believing in me.” Alice says. Karen takes them back to Star Harmony and announces that she will be sharing her brand with a Venus Ark student. News spreads back to Elza who is furious.
“Why couldn’t she bring her here? Rey, we can’t let ourselves be left behind.” Elza storms out and makes her way to Star Harmony.  Rey makes sure to alert the press that royalty was on the move. Elza steals the show and has her staff spread Venus Ark banners over the halls she walks through. Raki and Wakaba see this and mention that they’re not surprised. After walking around a bit, Elza demands that Alice be brought to her. In the meantime, she sits on a makeshift throne with Rey standing guard.
Alice walks towards Elza and meets her eyes. Elza is taken aback. Alice had never done that. She had a certain poise in her walk. Rey blushes and comments that it seems as though she’s gliding. Alice tells Elza that she wants to show her a performance worth seeing. Elza nods as she tries to hide how proud she is of her.
Tumblr media
Aria and Alice rush to the Dressing Room. Aria wears the Nadeshiko New Year Coord and Alice wears the Mermaid Blue Coord(pictured on the left). Pirouette of the Forest Light starts playing as Aria sings the first line. Alice joins in and as the tune plays her aura appears. Six blue candles rotate around her with gold stands. Blue jewels and purple lilies float around her. The appeals are Angel Garden and Star Heartful World. As the show ends Elza congratulates Alice and gives her a hug. The episode ends

RIP Jerry Herman
1931-2019
Tumblr media
~ MAME ~
Although musical theatre was not Lucille Ball’s forte, her 1974 film Mame featured music and lyrics by composer Jerry Herman.
youtube
“As most ‘I Love Lucy’ fans know, the redhead couldn't sing. Her ‘Mame’ songs had to be cobbled together note by note. We all thought maybe she should be dubbed, but because it was Lucille Ball, and everybody knew what she sounds like, I knew it would be more honest not to. Actually, when she's not singing, Ball's pretty good in the film, particularly in the second half when the character Mame is a bit closer to the star's actual age.” ~ Jerry Herman
youtube
In a 1973 episode of “Here’s Lucy” starring Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gormé,  Lucille Ball takes an opportunity to subliminally plug her upcoming movie Mame by singing a bit of “If He Walked Into My Life” while typing.
Tumblr media
Coincidentally, Eydie Gormé recorded the song in 1966. It won her a Grammy Award. The song was written for the 1966 Broadway musical of Mame. Steve thinks Eydie may be having an affair with a man named Herman, their musical arranger. The name ‘Herman’ was probably chosen as a tribute Jerry Herman, who wrote the music and lyrics for Mame, including “If He Walked Into My Life.”
Tumblr media
On a 1974 publicity tour for Mame, Phil Donahue devotes an entire hour to Lucille Ball, and airs clips from the film that feature Lucy singing the Jerry Herman tunes “It’s Today” and “Mame”.
Tumblr media
When Lucille Ball was celebrated at “The Kennedy Center Honors” in December 1986, Valerie Harper (“Rhoda”), Beatrice Arthur (“The Golden Girls”), and Pam Dawber (“Mork and Mindy”) sang a parody of the “I Love Lucy” theme expressing their affection for Lucy. The medley featured the title song from Mame now extolling Lucy.
~ HELLO DOLLY ~
Tumblr media
In a 1965 episode of “The Lucy Show”, Lucy Carmichael went undercover as Carol Channing, disguising herself in Channing’s most famous character, Dolly Levi from Hello Dolly, a musical by Jerry Herman. Lucille Ball gets to sing parody lyrics of the title song, the closest she’ll get to playing the iconic matchmaker.
Tumblr media
Lucille Ball came backstage to see Channing during Hello Dolly!
Tumblr media
In July 1965, Lucille Ball and Carol Channing were both mystery guests on TV’s “What’s My Line?” Lucille’s good friend Ginger Rogers, who would take over for Channing as Dolly Levi on Broadway, was also a mystery guest to promote her assuming the role.
Tumblr media
On the October 2, 1964 “The Jack Benny Program” Benny and Lucy play Mr. and Mrs. Paul Revere. When Paul (Benny) sings a few notes of “Hello Dolly,” a jealous Rachel (Lucy) automatically assumes he’s carrying on with Dolley Madison!
Paul (Jack Benny): “It’s not Dolley Madison!  This is a song that hasn’t even been written yet!”
Tumblr media
On a 1974 episode of “Here’s Lucy,” to welcome Lucy home after breaking her leg, the Canary Club sings “Hello Lucy” to the tune of “Hello Dolly.” Ball was about to start filming Herman’s Mame when she broke her leg skiing.
Tumblr media
In a 1971 “Candid Camera themed episode of “Here’s Lucy,” featuring Allen Funt, Lucy, Harry and Kim rob a bank using a song and dance parody specially written for the episode. The medley features “Hello, Dollar!” aka “Hello, Dolly!” the title song of the 1964 musical of the same name written by Jerry Herman.

Channing's trademark platinum blond hair framed a face that always seemed to be smiling, her wide-eyed innocent style belied a very savvy mind, and her voice was unmistakable. She died Tuesday morning, her publicist told Broadway World. She was 97 years old.
Born in Seattle in 1921, Channing's parents were Christian Scientists. She recalls that she got her first glimpse of backstage delivering copies of The Christian Science Monitor to theaters.
"It came over me that I was looking at the stage and backstage of a cathedral, a temple, a mosque, a mother church," Channing wrote in her memoir Just Lucky, I Guess. "I know I'm using adult words to describe a child's feelings, but I don't know how else to tell you this simple reaction of a child to a holy place."
Channing's near religious connection to her audience gave her an astounding amount of energy, and she grew irritated with those who tried to diminish the importance of theater in people's lives.

Baby Steps | Expecting
Tumblr media
She wasn’t sure she was reading the test right. It can’t say pregnant can it? I mean, it was only one time that they didn’t use a condom. Just that one time.
“Oh fuck,” She sighs, looking up at the ceiling of their shared master bathroom.
Currently his side of everything was half empty, since he’s on tour and took it all with him.
That one time was when he flew her out to see him in Vienna and to stay with him for a few shows. Karen and Manny offered to take Adelaide so she could make the trip, to give the couple a chance to see each other and figure some things out since their lives had been so crazy with him gone for so long.
“This can’t be happening.” She murmurs as she stands on shaky legs, setting the third positive test on the counter.
“Mommy!” A soft knocking rings on the door. “Are you okay?” Adelaide calls, and she quickly wipes her tear stained cheeks, swiping all three tests into a drawer and opening the door.
“I’m just fine Bug, just had to go potty, are you ready for dinner?”
“So ready Mommy, I’m hungry,” Her little nose wrinkles as she points at her belly.
“Okay Baby, we’ll I’ll start on dinner. Do you wanna go play with your dollies and I’ll get you when it’s ready?”
“Sure,” She smiles, running off to her room, telling her baby dolls that she’s back and ready to play!
As Y/n walks down the stairs towards the kitchen her eyes linger on the guest room next to Adelaide’s, and her mind is already decorating a nursery.
As she preheats the oven she presses her phone to her ear, leaning against the counter as she waits for him to answer.
“Hello?”
“Andrew, I need a favor.”
**
It’s bittersweet. The end of tour has always been so bittersweet. But this time around Shawn can tell that this is more sweet than bitter. It was so much harder leaving when you have a 5 year old and a wife at home.
He misses his girls so damn much, and he can’t wait to get home to them. To finally have a waffle Saturday properly, and not over a facetime, or not at all.
This last show was the final step to getting back home. And while he was heartbroken over the fact that this fantastic tour is over, and his performing days will be set off for awhile again, he just wants his girls.
“You ready?” Andrew smiles.
“Yeah,” Shawn nods, standing and following Andrew to the stage. “I don’t know why but the energy feels lighter tonight. Something feels, good? Like I can breathe a little easier.”
Andrew looks over with a raised brow, scared Shawn knows, but knows deep down that he doesn’t. It’s crazy to Andrew that Shawn just knows that Y/n’s around before he actually knows. It’s like his body knows. Y/n always brings this calm over him, and he has that calm today, and it’s crazy because she’s in the building and Shawn doesn’t even know.
“Maybe it’s because you know you’re back to the girls by tomorrow.” Andrew shrugs nonchalantly.
“Yeah probably.”
“Have a good show! Enjoy it, it’s the last one for awhile.”
“I know!” Shawn smiles, hugging Andrew and then taking his guitar.
**
That’s it. Tour’s over, and he kind of wants to cry, but he just wants to get on that plane back home first.
He rushes off stage, ready to celebrate with the team. Congratulate them on such a good show.
He stops short when he sees that there is no body backstage when he runs back. Well no one but a short, 5 year old, curly hair’d, little girl.
“Adelaide?” He asks in shock. He looks around to see if this is real, he has to be dreaming right?
“Daddy!” She yells, running to him as fast as she can.
He crouches to pick her up, hugging her so tight as he strands straight again.
“Oh my god,” He sighs, hand on the back of her head, the other holding her up. “I missed you so much Bug!” He kisses the top of her head.
“I missed you so much too Daddy,” She squeezes him tighter.
“Bug, what are you doing here?” Shawn asks, pulling back just enough to look into her deep brown eyes.
“Mommy wanted to surprise you.” She smiles. “Are you surprised?”
“Mommy’s here?” He’s hooked on the thought of his wife in his arms again.
“Yeah,” She says turning her head right as Y/n starts to step out from behind some of the equipment.
“Oh my god,” Shawn sets Adelaide down so he can rush to her. “Baby,” He cries as he picks her up.
“Oh Shawn!” She laughs, wrapping he arms around his neck as he spins them around. “Put me down!” She says, becoming nauseous from the movement.
He sets her down, but doesn’t let go. He nuzzles his face into her neck, arms holding her tight to him.
“Thank you!” He whispers against her neck. “Thank you for coming.”
“Always Babe,” She smiles, kissing his jaw softly.
Shawn pulls back and kisses her something fierce. It’s all the passion and longing he’s been feeling since she left him after Vienna.
“Okay tiger,” She giggles pulling away as he was deepening the kiss. “Save that for later,”
He grins, going back for one last peck. “Mmm, okay.” He smiles.
“Daddy,” Adelaide makes her appearance aware again, pulling the two love sick puppies from their moment.
“Yeah Bug?” He asks turning to face his daughter.
“You did so good tonight!” She smiles brightly up at him.
“Thank you Bug, you watched?”
“From right here,” She ran over to side stage to show him where.
“Oh goodness Bug, I would have lost all my marbles if I had looked over.” He grins, chasing after her and tickling her one he caught her.
“What do you think of her outfit there Dad,” Y/n subtly points at him with her chin.
His brows furrow, looking over Adelaide’s outfit. Just a shirt and jeans, the usual. He’s not getting the comment until Adelaide points at her shirt for a hint.
Big Sis stands out in big pink and blue letters.
His eyes widen as he whips around to look at his wife. He doesn’t say anything, just assess’ her. Let’s his eye roam over her body, to see if he can find a bump, and if you look closely you can see the smallest baby bump poking from her shirt.
“Why does her shirt say that?” He asks breathless, needs to hear the words before he can believe it.
“Because it’s true?” Y/n answers, hands rubbing her belly.
“You’re joking?” He stands slowly, the rest of the team tip toeing out with cameras to record him finding out.
“Nope,” She says, pulling out all three tests for him to see.
His jaw drops a bit, eyes wide and blown and he looks at the tests that very clearly say pregnant.
“Oh,” He looks into her eyes, “My,” He smiles slowly, “God!” He cheers, picking her up again.
“Okay no spinning or I’m gonna throw up all over you,” She taps his shoulders.
“Okay no spinning,” He says still holding her. “YOU’RE PREGNANT!” He cheers. “BABY YOU’RE PREGNANT!”
“I am.” She laughs.
“We’re gonna have another Baby!” He sets her down and hugs her. “I’m gonna have another Baby.” He sighs happily.
“Yeah? You’re happy?”
He looks at her confused. “Why wouldn’t I be happy?” He asks. “You’re gonna have my Baby! Of course I’m happy. Our family just got a little bigger. Oh my god, we’re gonna need diapers, and bottles.” He looks at Adelaide. “I got rid of all of her things, well except a few outfits, but like we’re gonna need everything.” He looks back to his wife with wide eyes.
She giggles as she combs his hair out of his face.
“We’ll take care of it like we always do,” She smiles. “Baby steps right?”
