I find it hilarious that the main source of so many problems in Thedas is the Deep Roads.

In the first game: Darkspawn.

In DA2 so many events were indirectly caused by two Dwarves trying to get rich quick by recovering an idle from the deep roads. (I'm not saying they're responsible, they just wanted money which I can respect, and Hawke is just as much to blame, but...)

In DA:I you have the Descent and Trespasser events, as well as Corephyus being a darkspawn (indirect deep roads).

Also honourable mentions:

Loghain and Duncan dying AND Ferelden falling into chaos

Broodmothers.

The Architect and Mother.

Darkspawn being really close to Dwarven Thaigs, resulting in the Legion Of The Dead, resulting in the Descent dlc

The Idol corrupting Bartend, then Meredith and completely fucking over all of Kirkwall

Strouhd meeting Hawke originally

The Chantry explosion because Anders saw timing during an argument between Meredith and Orinso and decided "fuck it"

The Mage rebellion because Fiona was a Grey Warden... who fought Darkspawn... and came out of the Deep Roads not-a-grey warden (also Anders)

Hawke loosing his sister/brother and fleeing Loathering

Lyrium. Why is this a problem? Play Descent and become cursed with the knowledge of what Lyrium truly is. Also, Templars.

Spiders. Too many fucking spiders.

Oghren's whole character arc in Dragon Age Origins

Making Anders a Grey Warden and thus him meeting Justice.

The Warden meeting Morrigan and Flemeth and taking Morrigan with them. Which, really, caused the worst amount of problems: Old God Baby, the fucked up Eluvian Merril has, Flemeth having her "back up" in Kirkwall, Hawke surviving, Morrigan learning how to dragon shift/the Inquisitor potentially in Mythal/Flemeth's service forever

Red Lyrium being fucking everywhere. Idk if it was because Bartrend brought it up to the surface or it was inevitable, but it came from the Deep Roads

One road caused the very laws and rules that govern Thedas to get yeeted out the window.

TL;DR the Deep Roads caused the Mage Rebellion

Ngl and this is probably an unpopular opinion, but I really think its cool that the EXU characters are a part of campaign 3.

It makes me so sad to see people are upset about feeling like they are "behind" on the new campaign or they wanted NEW characters. And tbh I havent watched EXU either (yet) and to me the characters being in C3 just felt like how it felt when they kind of threw us into campaign 1 with everyone already knowing each other. Or how Beau, Fjrod, and Jester already knew each other at the beginning of campaign 2. But this time I can actually go back and see the things I "missed" (which im doing rn with EXU)

Also technically speaking wouldn't that make us "behind" on characters like Bartrend, since he showed up in a one shot during campaign 1? But I havent seen any backlash about that.

The way i see it is if the players (Liam, Ashley, and Robbie) really liked these characters and wanted to keep playing them more then that's their decision. it's just like their backstory that we don't know yet and since these characters have new companions that means their character backstories and history are probably going to be explored here as well, it is just a matter of time.

You can either watch EXU or not, either way im just excited for this new campaign and all the characters in it.
