On May 2, 1939, Lou Gehrig took himself out of the Yankees' lineup, ending his consecutive string of 2,130 games. He was suffering from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a neurodegenerative disease that would take his life two years later.

can’t describe how fucking cool it was to go to tombstone redemption and be immersed in an ENTIRE TOWN celebrating rdr2. look to your right—dutch and arthur are hanging out in a horse-drawn carriage. want some ice cream? walk past blackwater bank and grab a themed scoop. now john’s holding the door for you on your way into the saloon! oh, there’s sadie sitting at the bar. the wood artist has arthur-themed work in their window. there’s locally-made ceramics with your choice of quote just casually on a store shelf. nearly the entire cast is there, and they’re so, so lovely. all you can hear is the click of hooves and spurs. and for one blissful weekend you’re transported to a world where absolutely everyone you meet is just as passionately in love with the same characters and story you are

title: screwball (56.7k words, 7/10 chapters, ongoing)
fandom: mob psycho 100
relationship(s): no romantic relationships, reigen & mob, mob & ritsu, reigen & everyone
details: rated t, baseball au, reigen-centric, coach reigen & pitcher mob, found family, mild hurt/comfort, injury recovery, sports psychology, drama, humor, action
summary: After rising to fame in the world of online sports betting, Reigen takes a job coaching the Seasoning City Vegetarians, the worst team professional baseball has ever seen. But Reigen sees the potential in these bad news bears, particularly in their struggling pitcher. Mob has a missile for an arm, but after nearly killing another player in a traumatic pitching accident, he can hardly stand on the mound. Reigen decides to teach him how to pitch again.
There’s just one issue – he doesn’t know shit about baseball.
chapter 7 summary:
“Let’s just calm down a second and think rationally about all of this,” Reigen said, flapping his arms in his best gesture of placation. “Why call me? Why not the police? Last I checked, attempted assault is a crime.” “Because if I call the police, then the police will know when I assault them with a bat,” Teru explained. “Obviously.”
read it here: first chapter / most recent (chapter 7)

That's 9 consecutive games with multiple hits for Xander!
That is tied for the longest streak in #RedSox history and is MLB’s longest streak of 2022.
