These photos of Michaela DePrince and Daniel Robert Silva tell her story from facing adversary as a war-orphan being called the Devil’s child (ph.1), to being ‘saved’ by adoption (ph.2), followed by Daniel representing Ballet un-rooting Michaela from her past (ph.3) and now, with a dark Medusa-themed history, she stands proud as a star ballerina (ph.4).

Hello super land is an commissioned design, consisting of a range of new and heartwarming characters and the world they live in, inspired by the world of Bas Kosters, and by Chinese heritage and traditions. Hello Super Land is a land where goodness and consciousness prevail. Everyone in Hello Super land thinks that attention for yourself should be in balance with attention to others. That is why balance is just so important Hello Super Land is inhabited by one big family of gentle souls, who stand for the importance of looking out for one another. Togetherness is represented by families of many objects to create a safe feeling. Surrounded by items that normally go unnoticed we perceive our world in a new way. The “Hello Super Land” exhibition, which runs from 19th October until 24th November, will inspire and delight, inviting visitors to play with the imagination. seeing Bas and his bust in his atelier triggerd my fascination for the Vesperbild (Piëta), the caring of a loved one turns into selflove. to enlarge the eeriness I suggested another sculptureal phenomenon for this image; Medusa (as depicted in the Basilica Cisterne).. to create a tension between Bas and Bas.. love for the darker self.

the actual piece by Bas Kosters is on display at the Museum Moderne Kunst Arnhem and is a realistic sculpture to question status, income, appreciation and the identity of an artist.. it questions the Artist as Kapitalist.. by selling pieces of the artwork this work provides for the practice of the artist but you also buy a piece of the soul of the artist.. the artist manifests himself via merchandise to provide for his own existence as an artist.
