About: I'm from the Bay Area, specifically San Jose. I feel like I'm a simple creature. All I need for fun is a good TV show or movie, and perhaps some In-N-Out. When I'm at home and spending time with my siblings, that is our go-to. When I'm here in Irvine, I do the exact same thing, which I've been told is IPad kid behavior. I've found that I rotate between fast food restaurants when I'm here, and currently on my rotation, Raising Cane's is next up. While it is delicious, hopefully whoever ends up being my big could introduce me to some new places to eat so I do not get tired of my burgers and chicken. When I get the chance to, I love to read books, and I'm a sucker for the Percy Jackson or Harry Potter series. I think I've read each one over and over again about 8 times, and I'm about to rotate for a 9th. I'm always willing to try new TV shows or movies. I'm currently watching Percy Jackson and the Olympians with my girlfriend, who also got me hooked onto The Rookie, which is a super interesting cop drama show! Once I finish these shows, I'm going to lock in on watching Jujutsu Kaisen before the spoilers reach me. Aside from that, I'm honestly into any sort of shows or movies as long as there's action to keep me awake. For sports, I've played basketball all my life, but I'm always excited to learn a new sport to help me stay active! When I listen to music, I have a habit of listening to one song on repeat until I find something else I like. This happens so often that I ended up with the Ninjago Theme Song as number 1 on my Spotify Wrapped one year, which has to mean I have great taste in music. Usually when I do listen to music, I'm an average Katy Perry enjoyer and mostly listen to general pop music from people like Bruno Mars and The Weeknd. As for my other hobbies, I had a phase last year where I got into Fortnite, so I'm always ready to run squads. I also very much like Brawl Stars, so if you need a Bull for Brawl Ball, I'm your guy.

What are you looking for in your future Big/Little?: When looking for a big/little, I'm hoping for someone who I can crack jokes with. I've been told I'm not the most extroverted person, but with people I'm comfortable with I can be. I usually find I connect with my friends when we laugh at the same things, no matter how dumb they may be. Nevertheless, I'm going to form a strong connection with anyone I'm paired with, but being able to have a laugh with them is just an added bonus!

Thinking abt the initial concept of the villain Dia au now and just ncmcnd

Imagine if she didn't really kill Malva, but Malva is still really unaware of Diantha's involvement in Flare or the fact that Diantha just knows abt them. And she's there looking for Lysandre, and she found nothing, no leads, no body, nothing. But Dia's Trevenant was there yknow, watching, waiting, and when Gengar arrived to get the daily report, Trevenant had told him what he saw. And ofc, Dia already knew yknow, she's already aware of the fact that Malva's part of Flare, this was just for blackmail hahaha

And like, imagine a small confrontation between them, or maybe smth like in that first chapter where Dia was asking Malva to help them find the remaining members of Flare. Imagine Diantha waiting for the other three Elites before she turns to Malva, going "aren't you going to help?"

"why would I? I'm sure there's nothing left of Flare."

"oh, I wouldn't say that," Dia laughed at her, taking a step closer towards Malva, "considering that you're still here."

And Malva paling at that tho, cause she and Lysandre hid their identities and involvement in Flare rather well, how would Diantha even know? As far as Lysandre and Malva were aware, Dia never found out abt the actual boss of Flare. Unless..

"you were looking for Lysandre, weren't you?" Then Malva could feel claws from beneath her, grabbing her legs, preventing her escape. She looked down, seeing arms of what she could only assume we're a Gengar's, then she hears a sinister laugh to confirm it. She looks back at Diantha, Lysandre's Mega Ring in hand, "I have to thank him though, if it weren't for him, I wouldn't have gotten my darling Yveltal."

And everything's just sinking in on Malva after watching Dia wear the ring, watching her eyes drift towards her again, and suddenly feeling the cold edge of a blade on her neck. "Now, I suppose you know what will happen if you won't help, yes?" And she could only nod, the cold feeling of dread taking over her body. Diantha smiled at her, snapping her fingers, and the blade on her neck and the hand grabbing her legs disappeared. "Very good, my darling. Now, tell me, just where are those useless Flare admins hiding? I'm in no mood to play this game of Meowth and Rattata with them."

And ofc, Malva told her where, the two of em got the other Flare admins before the other Elites could. And idk, it's fun to think that Xerosic still had intentions at Lumiose to get mega stones from Augustine, and Dia was pissed man, so hey, she got all the admins to a place maybe, somewhere hidden, and Diantha made Malva watch as she let her Aegislash behead the remaining admins in front of her.

So yeah, now Malva's fucking terrified cause holy shit man, watching that was fucked up, and Diantha could do that to her too. She knows having Diantha's favour doesn't do much rn, if she so much as goes out of line, then she'd meet the same fate as the admins before her. And she'd rather not die just yet.

About: I grew up around the UCI area and live in Fountain Valley, a city super close to everything and a lot of food spots but also fairly close to the mountains, beach, etc. so I love going outside and find it comforting trying hobbies like snowboarding and hiking even though I might not be the best! I also like to read but mainly only things I'm interested in, so I have a short attention span when it comes to reading. I've always loved to journal and make arts and crafts, so I would say I am aesthetically inclined and love to make everything look pretty and presentable. I love to shop and am a huge fan of finding clothes that suit who I am as a person. I am always down to try something new and that includes activities but also food! I am slowly getting into road trips but definitely not for too long haha I enjoy the idea of it but definitely find it more fun when the location I'm going to is worth waiting for. I listen to a very wide variety of music genres and definitely like a little bit of everything, but my top two are opposites: edm and country! I'm a huge fan of both! My go to TV show is Gilmore Girls but I started Grey's Anatomy recently and am in love with it...obviously! I am quite excited to grow in the healthcare field and hope I can get to where I want to be.

What are you looking for in your future Big/Little?: My biggest priority in finding a Big in MEMO is to just have a support system! I already have a few people in my life who can do the same but to have maybe someone who is pursuing the same path or someone I can simply look up to in regards to advice and such will make me feel so much more at ease within my years at UCI.

oVert: Thousands of natural history specimens have undergone CT scanning by scientists, and these scans are available for free

The openVertebrate (oVert) project, a six-year collaboration among 18 institutions, has completed the CT scanning of over 13,000 vertebrate specimens, making 3D reconstructions freely accessible online.

These scans offer unprecedented access to natural history specimens, enabling researchers, educators, artists, and the public to explore biodiversity and conduct scientific inquiries remotely.

The project, funded primarily by the National Science Foundation, aims to democratize access to museum collections, reducing wear on physical specimens while increasing their utility.

Through such CT scans, surprising discoveries have been made, such as the presence of bony plates on the tails of spiny mice, previously thought to be unique to armadillos. The data has also revealed insights into evolutionary history and the biology of various species, including the discovery of dental patterns in frogs and insights into the behavior of Spinosaurus dinosaurs.

Additionally, the project has educational and artistic applications, with teachers using the data in classrooms and artists creating replicas based on the 3D models.

Moving forward, the challenge lies in developing sophisticated tools to analyze the vast amount of data generated by the project, with initiatives like NoCTURN aimed at maximizing the use of CT scan data for research, education, and industry.
