Omg thank you all for asking this character I totally didn't specifically ask to be asked about and who I love a perfectly normal amount giggles and twirls hair

Favorite thing about them: He really strives to be good. Good at something, anything, but just good. He constantly fights against his own narrative and I find it very admirable. He was doomed from the start to fail and I feel like he knows that, and I don't know how he finds the strength to keep trying anyway but he does and it's really neat. Maybe his skull really is too thick to listen to the words of a predetermined fate. Just the whole thing about being the tragic character of all time is very compelling to me. Also, his inherently meaningless seeking a validation to live he shares with Atsushi makes me like him for reasons similar to Atsushi.

Least favorite thing about them: MMMHHHH,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Like I really like his flaws, I'm happy he has them, I wouldn't like him the same if he didn't? But at least I can safely say it's someone I wouldn't like to deal with irl lol.

Random headcanon: I think he's numb to pain. And I don't mean it in the “oh no he suffered so much he's used to it at this point :((( ” pitying way, I mean it in the “he's felt such very strong spikes of pain in multiple occasions, his pain detectors just gave out” way. The “he won't notice a wound because he just can't feel it” way.

Unpopular opinion: In the last period, it's been bugging me a little how Akutagawa and Dazai's relationship is portrayed in fancontent. It's just always so black and white, while actually I feel like there's so much nuisance to it that just gets lost in fandom. Yes, the way Dazai treated Akutagawa was horrible and inhuman. Yes, to an extent Dazai thought highly of Akutagawa's abilities and cared for him. Yes, Akutagawa was victim of Dazai's heavy abuse. No, Akutagawa isn't entirely subject to Dazai, he explicitly gave his consent to an hard training (which, I reiterate, doesn't justify it at all; but does give more nuisance to the whole situation) and did oppose him in multiple occasions. I just think sometimes Akutagawa is framed as this helpless damsel in distress and Dazai as this inhuman monster whereas their relationship is indeed unhealthy, but still so much more complex than that. And just, really, I feel like portraying Akutagawa so helpless in Dazai's hands makes him a disservice? Even though in canon he said to be willing to kill Dazai on multiple occasions, has punched him more than once, has told straight “no”s to his face. I just think... People tend to make Akutagawa a lot less aware than he actually is. Here, there it is, that's what really troubles me. Akutagawa does know Dazai hurt him. He does know Dazai's treatment of him was cruel, and unfair. He is aware of what Dazai did to him. That just can't stop him from seeking his approval, even against his will. But to think that Akutagawa is blind to everything Dazai did to him does him a disservice, because he really is not that stupid or with completely null self-awareness. The fact that he tends to run after Dazai despite knowing how much he's hurt him is just further proof of how complex and human-like Akutagawa's psyche is. Also, he does NOT like reading. All my homies hate booknerd Akutagawa.

Song i associate with them: Well, I associate with him songs I definitely shouldn't associate with him alcfjyalfiygaslfiya. One song I always listen to that infallibly makes me think of Akutagawa although it really DOES NOT fit Akutagawa is Patchwork Staccato by toa, with its delicious sewing symbolism and words of toxic codependent relationships and the line you, I'd really rather you just stop existing I just can't help but link to him. Or Vampire by DECO*27, which. self-explanatory. but really shouldn't be associated with Akutagawa. Head Canon

She goes on early morning walks, it’s normally when the junkyard is the most quiet and she can see the sun just as it’s about to rise. She never did get to go outside much when she was with Macavity nonetheless during daytime so just getting to pace around the outdoors really brings her peace and joy.

Unpopular opinion

I think they can go a little further with her? Like more paranoid and unhinged. Like I think it would be interesting if some of the jellicles doubted when she screams “Macavity” since it’s been false alarms for most of the night. I think it’ll make Macavity’s eventual reveal and the toll it takes on Demeter more impactful.

A wish

probably just to live the rest of her life in peace, she’s been through so much already that living a “boring” life would be a privilege in and of itself

Macavity successfully capturing herself or Jemima is probably her nightmare scenario. But I think the worst thing that could happen to her did happen to her already when Macavity tried to kidnap her and ended up hurting the community and cats she loves most.

Character ask: Ebenezer Scrooge (A Christmas Carol)

No one requested this, but I answered asks for all the other main Christmas Carol characters last year, so it's high time I answered one for the iconic protagonist.

Favorite thing about them: His redemption arc, and how kind, generous, and full of joy he becomes by the end. Also the fact that Dickens breaks the standard rule of "Make the protagonist likable" and depicts a very unpleasant man, yet throws him into situations that make us engage with him even before he becomes likable, and then steadily earns our sympathy for him.

Least favorite thing about them: Well, he's obviously not a good person at the beginning of the story. That's the whole point.

Three things I have in common with them:

*I tend to be less social than many people are.

*I can be greedy and self-absorbed at times, though I try not to be.

*I try to be generous to those in need, as he is by the end.

Random headcanon: He's of Scottish descent. His family's surname was originally the Scottish "Scroggie" (from which Dickens may have derived his name in real life), but they Anglicized it to "Scrooge" when they came to England.

Unpopular opinion: Even though almost every adaptation shows him sharing romantic moments with Belle at Fezziwig's party, in the book I don't think their engagement took place until after his apprenticeship with Fezziwig. In the scene showing Belle with her husband and children on the night Marley died, her youngest child is just a baby, so she was still of childbearing age just 7 years before Scrooge's redemption. This seems to imply that she's much younger than Scrooge. I don't mind this fact; age gaps were common between couples of their generation. But apprentices in that era were usually teenagers, so unless teenage Scrooge started courting Belle when she was 10 or 11 years old, I sincerely doubt they were already sweethearts when he was Fezziwig's apprentice.

favorite thing about them- He's trying so much! He is not great at it and he was very much Doomed since the beginning and he lost every agency he never had to begin but my god he was Trying! He did not know he was a clone but he felt he that he isnt him and Haggar was still scouting in his head but he was still trying until he couldnt, my god i love him!!

least favorite thing about them- Other than the fact he fucking died??? Kuron babygirl please dont go behind your teams back and dont yell at people, i know you are Going Through It™ but still

random headcanon- i have already talked about him being fan of reading but did you know he also writes sometimes? It is not *great* and almost all of them are wips because he is never sure how to end a story but he is trying

unpopular opinion- if i see one more "Kuron the evil mean clone" i will scream.

Other than- ok. You know how much i love him right? He is one of my favourites and i like him more than Shiro, you know that right? I need you to know and remember that when i say the next part.

Entire clone arc was just not needed. Like you could have had the same effect with Shiro being mind controlled and i personally feel it would have been better. Clone arc just overcomplicated an already messy plot, added even more elements and questions that went absolutely nowhere, left behind a shit load of plot holes, became the final nail in the coffin of Shiro having any possible arc or development, and added a new sympathetic character just to kill him off as a plot device.

And the entire "You are my brother Shiro, i love you" who is it for? Literally who is it for? It would have been much more heart wrenching if it was mind controlled Shiro but we clearly established that is not him. That guy is not Shiro, and Keith as i recall had like 3 on screen conversations with him, 2 of them being strained and then Keith just fucks off with the Blades for most of 3 seasons. It is not for Kuron cause narrative is insistent that he is ~evil~ tool and later on they use his body to get Shiro back. So like, who is it for? Other than to show how sad and angsty and great and amazing writers pet Keith is of course but that is the whole goddamn show.

Like i love him and he did not deserve any of That and i am going to keep making up aus where he lives but the entire pointlessness of clone arc angers me so much

And he is loyal and goofy and lovable i love him

least favorite thing about them- i would not have liked this fucker if i met irl specifically s1-s2 him at all. Also the fact they did not even give him an arc like why would you do this to him. Also his fanbase, i cant tolerate 70% of his fanbase and the fact that i still love him is a testimony of my love for him itself given i have hated characters and left fandoms for far less

unpopular opinion: humphrey did try to learn french, and he did listen to his wife. these are two things we literally see in the bone plot. yes, he's no good at it; yes, he could probably try harder. but it's hard to want to build a relationship with someone who refuses to talk to you. i don't get why en français feels the need to show humphrey being a poor listener - that is not the problem with his marriage! also. he would not be the captain's fucking wingman. seriously? humphrey is not the bubbly extroverted member of the friend group; he's the quiet one who listens to everyone but doesn't talk much. he can be bubbly, but he's just as likely to run rings around you in lieu of a conversation, but i suspect he's most likely to listen to your troubles and not tell you his own. you won't realise how repressed he is until you leave and realise you haven't heard much from him. i mean, can you imagine him acting as a wingman? he might be cute but he WILL fuck it up

MAFUYUUUUUUU my favorite guy. i think... well it's hard to pinpoint because he is a VERY well-written character. it disappoints me to see so many prsk fans reduce him to his depression and depict him as this like... perpetually miserable person or that's like alllllllllll they focus on when making content of him and maybe i should save this for the Unpopular Opinion section but whatever. anyway. he's extremely depressed yes but that's not the like, pivotal point of his character. he wants to get better. he wants to live!!!!!!! and it's not so much that he doesn't have any sense of identity; it's more so that the sense of identity he does have was meticulously picked out for him by his parents. all his dreams, wants, needs, hobbies, favorite foods - he never got a say in any of it! and he feels trapped and suffocated under the expectation to be the asahinas' Perfect Daughter for the rest of his life. he wants to escape this, but in order to do so, he has to rebuild his sense of identity and learn to choose for himself again (or...for the first time). this is a monumental undertaking. it's often fruitless and leads to no real results, and it's so, so, so tempting to give up... as we see mafuyu struggle with many times. but ultimately, his character is fueled by a desire to live. deep down, he knows what he wants. he just has to 1. admit it to himself and 2. survive until he gets to that point of being able to shape his life with his own hands. as frequently as we see him fall into despair, he clings fiercely to this one last ray of hope, and he keeps going, and he keeps going, and he keeps going.

he's a strong person! he's a very strong, very brave, very persistent person. he may appear to be like... complacent with his parents' expectations, but he's really, really, really not. he just needs to find his own voice and harness his inherent courage a new way. and like, yeah that's my favorite thing about him. his inherent courage. wanders off

one of the fascinating things about rhea is that nobody is on an equal footing to her. not seteth or flayn, her fellow nabateans, whom she never answers to for any of the decisions she makes, despite seteth being nominally her advisor. not catherine or jeralt, who were brought under her wing in exchange for their servitude as knights, one of whom was successfully groomed by her and one of whom wasn't and got out while he still had a chance.

honestly cyril is the only human character in the game that rhea doesn't appear to have a purely transactional relationship with, and... he's a child. a child who cleans her room and does chores for her. okay that's pretty transactional now that i think about it.

so, given that rhea doesn't have anyone she can be bros with, my brotp for rhea is...

rhea/catherine. you get the more wholesome ending of a deposed rhea retreating from the world and catherine looking after her, which is quite bittersweet. but you can also be delightfully fucked up with it. imagine if cf ended with the black eagle strike force being routed in fhirdiad and fresh off a decisive church victory over the empire catherine had to live with the thousands of civilians she'd murdered on rhea's orders, with nowhere to go but deeper into rhea's arms. hhhhhhhhhh

i don't think rhea is capable of having a healthy romantic or sexual relationship with any other playable character in the game (she might have had one with wilhelm, but that was 1000 years ago), but a relationship doesn't have to be healthy to be incredibly fascinating and compelling. that is why my rhea otp is rhea and cf!dimitri. the feedback loop of bloodthirsty revenge they would enforce for each other would be fun to watch... from several miles away.

this isn't so much of a headcanon as it is an interpretation of sothis' characterization through her behavior in 3 hopes, but i believe that sothis felt no affection for the nabateans she created; they were just tools to her, and she cared about them as much as a paperclip maximizer cares about the paperclips it makes. and that makes it extra tragic for rhea, who wastes her entire life after slaying nemesis trying to recapture a maternal love that only really existed in her own head.

Thoughts on how they went about wrapping up Motive because oh boy there are many thoughts.

Lucas taking the interview because his friends believe in him. Angie said he'd be great for it then he finds out Oscar actually recommended him for it and so then he's like ok I can do this! So proud of team baby. And it's worth mentioning the professional issues him and Oscar ran into in season 4 and what that also meant

Obviously sad about the band breaking up but seeing Oscar happy and not missing it at all is so sweet he deserves all the good things especially after the last couple years. And Angie and Lucas definitely don't make those moves had Oscar not in my mind. So it still works. And they stay close! We love!

"I love you, friend" Excuse me while I sob I love them so much perfect brotp. Love how the last several episodes all end with Angie and Oscar just chilling talking about life

Oscar rescinding the offer to have Angie work for him because again he knows her and knows she isn't ready to quit her job just yet. But he'll always be there for her and the door is left open for it to happen down the road. Partners in spirit always!

The final fade out the scene is so quiet and peaceful but its everything that Angie and Oscar have ever been which is comfortably best friends and it's just beautiful

I don't see why you'd come to me for this, since you're clearly more versed in Holt language than me, but of course it's more than alright! Admittedly, I've been re-blogging this sort of thing and waiting for someone to ask me, and at last here it is! So yeah, I'm a bit thrilled.

Anyway:

My favourite thing about them You know, I've always loved this guy, but I never stopped to think about why I really like him. I guess if I had to say, it would be his relationships with his brothers, especially Dale. I've always been a sucker for familial relationships enduring through hard times, but Tyler's relationship with each member of his family is unique. And everything is made even more tragic because these relationships do not persevere throughout the hardship they all go through. No matter what, Dale dies, his body eternally lost in the destroyed motel as it goes up in flames. No matter what, Jay is scarred as a teen, only until Zoe pays him a visit, if she chooses to forgive him. But even after that, he's still alone for the rest of his life. Sharon and Tyler are together at first, but Sharon decides it's best to leave. She's either left alone, or is stuck in a life with a man who loves her, but whom she doesn't love. Tyler is now alone in jail or in a hard life where he must now work for himself, or he's dead. His relationships are all shattered. Tyler's story doesn't end well, and even though it doesn't exactly end with a big, terrible bang, it's really not a good ending. And to make things worse, he's alone. So that's a really interesting part of his character

Least favourite thing about them Tyler doesn't panic all too often, but when he does, he loses his temper easily. He gets mad and exaggerates what he really means, and gets really mean. It's annoying sometimes and sometimes tiring, but everyone has flaws and everyone has to endure their own and others' flaws.

Favourite line "This will all be over when we win. Remember that, and do your part." This can be used in so many situations, namely war. Not that war has anything to do with ADF.

brOTP Vince and Tyler. They're both so similar within their own lives, and their roles within the whole Desert Dream Motel Mistake-Massacre. They may not be bros as in friends or bros at all, but they are parallels of each other.

OTP I don't think I really have an OTP, but I don't really mind the Vince/Tyler ship.

nOTP I don't know. There's not really many ships in this small fandom. But I guess I would never ship something like Joyce/Tyler. That's a recipe for disaster.

Ha! Well. Didn't expect her of all characters to be dropped into my inbox. I'm going to be brutally honest. I haven't seen Kids Next Door in years, so prepare for an underwhelming answer.

Favorite thing about them: Dude, she has a bed full of plushies. Kuki is a ten-year-old who's living the dream! (besides her overworking parents... sorry)

Least favorite thing about them: If ten-year-old Allie could come out of me, she'd probably say, "She NEVER shuts up!"

Favorite line: I like when she cursed in the storyboard promo that was an advertisement for GKND. :D

BROtp: Numbuh Five. I have a strong feeling she would get along with Katie too, if she existed.

OTP: Numbuh Four. Another honest response here, I actually hated them together when I was in the fandom, and thought they were completely overrated as a ship. It wasn't until OrionStorm's fanart surfaced on deviantART and read some fanfiction where it finally began to grow on me. I guess you can say that I prefer fanworks to canon.

nOTP: I really don't have one. I'm far too old to argue about who ends up with who. Just enjoy what you like and move on with your life. Simple as that.

Random headcanon: She snuggles with an orange Rainbow Monkey every night. Come on. You KNOW she does.

Unpopular opinion: Not my favorite character from the series. Oh, well. What to do.

Favorite thing about them: Despite his small role, he’s such a rich character who appeals on multiple levels. For starters, he’s funny, witty, lively, and fun-loving, which provides much-needed relief from the story’s heavy drama. But at heart, of course, he’s a “sad clown,” and his cynical worldview is poignant and sometimes all too relatable. And then there’s the key contradiction within his character, which is both fascinating and moving: the fact that despite being a resolute skeptic, he adores his idealistic friends, is only happy in their presence despite mocking their beliefs, and loves Enjolras, idealism personified, to the point that he chooses to die with him. He would be a compelling character even without the gay subtext, but the fact that he’s almost explicitly in love with another man makes him all the more engaging for modern audiences. It’s impressive that Hugo managed to put so much substance into a minor character who only appears in a few scenes.

Least favorite thing about them: Well, he is a loose cannon who fails to make himself useful as a revolutionary. As much as we might like him, it’s understandable that Enjolras dislikes him until the end. In the novel (glossed over in the musical), there’s also his casual sexism, which was probably to be expected from such a wild and worldly young man in the 1830s.

Three things I have in common with them:

*I’m often disappointed with the state of the world and feel tempted to become a total cynic.

*I enjoy physical pleasures and sometimes indulge in them too much. (I’m more prone to overeating than drinking, though.)

*I admire Enjolras’s idealism enormously.

Three things I don’t have in common with them:

*I very rarely drink alcohol.

*I don’t belong to a group of revolutionaries.

*I’m female.

Favorite line: From the novel, it wasn’t easy going through his long speeches to pick out favorite lines, but I finally narrowed it down.

Random headcanon: His backstory, with everything that made him such a skeptic and yet gave him such a profound need for others’ idealism, would probably be worthy of its own novel.

Unpopular opinion: While I do think he’s in love with Enjolras, I don’t take great offense to seeing his devotion read in a platonic way too, because it does have much more depth than just romantic attraction. And I certainly don’t think Enjolras is in love with him; I ship them in a sense of “what could have been.”
