Which of your characters would you say has changed the most over the time that you have played them? Why did these changes come about and are you, as the player, broadly happy with them?

C'allie... definitely evolved over time.

From the first initial experiment into FFXIV--including my absolute lack of lore knowledge and discovering that I really really hate playing BRD--to a wildly busy character, she's come a shockingly long way.

C'allie started off as my "I know like one person in this entire game (ilu @mirugaidoesthings) and I'll have to get RP somehow so better make one of Those Characters" foray. To get RP, a character has to be proactive, so I made a busybody bard who wanted to be ALL up in everyone's business.

And then I got my husband to play FFXIV, which let C'allie and Seifer meet, become lovers and, more importantly, best friends. We leveled together and lo and behold, I unlocked rogue.

Combined with C'allie's easy-going, happy-go-lucky nature and how everyone perceived her as a Bimbo Party Girl, it just made perfect sense to me that she'd be a cold-blooded and exceptionally good professional assassin.

And she just kept developing, even developing something approaching sympathy, much to my surprise. C'allie fell in love with L'upus Lynx, proposed marriage, and with that one step into "stable maturity," she began settling into who she really was at an astounding rate.

C'allie is still 100% Certified Trauma-Free™ with a loving family, a happy childhood, a healthy relationship with her parents and siblings. And her being that kind of stable character really opens up a lot of room for development in relationships with others. C'allie's a safe place for her spouses, lovers, and friends to lean.

...she's also largely amoral and sees nothing wrong with killing someone to get them out of the way.

While she doesn't fuck her way across Eorzea and back any more, she does keep in contact with almost all of her previous fuck buddies and isn't adverse to finding someone to come play with her and one (or more) of her spouses.

And as for being a mother? She's... surprisingly good at it. C'allie grew up in a large, extended family that'd developed healthy support systems, conflict resolution, and child care management. She learned by example, by participating in the Kyho tribe's culture, and is passing that on pretty well to her spouses.

Plus if they ever need a break, they can just dump the kids off at her father's camp and no one will bat an eyelash.

I'd say C'allie's done pretty well to come as far as she has and I'm quite pleased with her.

A new event-limited character is now available for questions!

Name: Koji Tanaka

Age: 12 and a half

Gender: Cis male

Sexuality: Gay (in love with flynn)

Nationality: Japanese/Italian

{the current Kumicho of the Yukaza family in Paris. Despite being so young to be the boss of a crime family, he made himself a force to be recant with. Yet he would have not come so far if it wasn't for Flynn so now he came to the manor to find him and to personally thanks and offer him an offer of a lifetime!}

After finally arriving at a more private place away from anyone's eyes.

Flynn didn't waste time before slamming the boy he dragged with him to the wall and immediately put his dagger so dangerously close to his neck that it made a small cut with some blood dripping from it.

“What brings you here, Koji?!… If you are here for some Yukaza business then SCRAM!! I have already paid a lot for your services and that means I do not owe you guys anything so do not even think of asking me for anything!”

Koji whistles at Flynn’s action, a moment ago he was such a polite boy in front of Archer but the second all eyes were away from them, he immediately turned into this. Koji would lie tho if he said he didn’t like that side of him more than the one before it.

“Good to see you too, Flynn~ long time no see :D!”

“….”

“Okay okay~ relax I am not here for some family business or anything like that, I am here as just Koji Tanaka. You can put away your dagger… besides you are smart enough to know is a bad idea to try and harm me~”

Flynn sighed and took away his dagger from Koji, hiding it underneath his suit. Putting a hand over his hip he titles his head and asks once more “Then if you not here for business then what could ever bring you here and why do you keep following me all day long?”

“Well, you see~ I have recently become The Kumicho of the Family and ever since then I wanted to find you to come and personally thank you and also to offer you something special as a gift!”

Flynn lifted an eyebrow at that, not sure if he should believe it or not, Koji was only 12 years old, younger than him by a year, and yet here he was becoming the boss “Thanks me??… Okay, I have a couple of questions, 1- you now the boss? What happen to your father? 2-if you wanted to talk to me then why not do it from the start, do you know how creepy it was having you spying on me? And finally…. What is the offer??”

“We do not talk about that old hag anymore, he is not important ^^”

“Eh?”

“And the reason I didn't approach you the first time is cuz I just recently arrived here when the ball started after I finally found out where you are all this time (you have no idea how hard it was to find you-) but you were so busy with the whole thing that there was hardly any good time to talk to you so I just waited and watched until I see the right opportunity to finally talk to you!… tho was I really that noticeable?”

“Yes.”

“Ah… ummm~ well at least now we can talk and I can finally offer you the gift I was waiting to tell you about all this time!”

“Just get on with it- EH!” Koji suddenly grabbed both of Flynn’s hands together with his, before falling to one knee and with a smile proposed to Flynn his offer "Would you join the Yukaza and become my right-hand man?!"

there was a long silence between the two, Flynn with a shocked face while Koji's eyes bright like never before as if Flynn already said yes-

'NO."

"EHHHH!! WHY!?"

"Koji, I don't want to get myself involved with the yakuza any more than I already am and there are other reasons that I would not even bother to list... but why do you want me, I bet you have men who are more suited for the spot more than me."

“Tsk… please, those idiot men are still loyal to my old hag of a father, and if I made one of them my right-hand man, they for sure would use that position to plan my downfall. Besides you are way more skilled and smart than anyone I know!! You were even the reason I started to finally stand up against my father and get rid of him!”

Flynn sighed “I understand where you coming from Koji and I am glad you finally stuck up to your dad… but my answer is still a no.” Flynn almost felt bad saying this again when he saw how heartbroken Koji looked. “A-are you sure?! Just think about it, if you agree, I will make sure to provide you with both protection and anything you want! e-even your family and friends would be protected and-”

“Koji…” was the only thing Flynn said to let Koji finally stop trying to convince him to join. He let go of Flynn’s hands and stood up “All alright… but my offer still stands and the spot will always be available for you if you ever change your mind” Flynn only nodded to that while holding on to his own hands. Both had an awkward moment of silence while trying to avoid eye contact.

“I guess I have nothing left to do here… umm, I will take my leave then-”

“W-wait!”

Koji stopped walking away when Flynn called for him and turned around to look back at him. Flynn smiled at him while saying “This is a ball for everyone to have fun and enjoy, I can not just let you leave it heartbroken and sad… so how about instead of me becoming your right-hand man, we can maybe be partners in the ball?!… w-what do you say?”

Koji's eyes widened at that and soon a smile drew on his face and ran back to Flynn, once more holding onto his hands, and with a happy tone of voice responded “OF COURSE!! I would be so honored to be your partner at the Ball~” Koji could not help but jump in place while saying that, making Flynn laugh at how silly he now acts and sound.

“hahahaha okay okay! Calm down now silly!”

I am a little scared.

It was a difficult time period (mostly busy for everyone) but friends asked me to DM for them (because I've always wanted to play TTRPGs but only could once years and years ago). They had a set idea of what they wanted to do and I wasn't sure I was understanding their intention (a one shot? A campaign?) but I created a world and a setting as best as I could in a way that I would like to tell a story about and also would meet the core of what they asked of me but only one person answered positively to what I proposed to them and I have not heard anything from either of them since. With my job and studies, their studies and the third one's work and studies we have very uncomplimentary schedules but I fear they are not interested in it in the end.

And I am a little scared to ask. Because I am scared of the answer.

I have been watching so much minecraft rp lately that the little dnd experience I have (I.e watching d20 and others) feels far away and I feel illequiped if they were to jump on me right now and say let's do it.

Same with some french friends that were up for some fallout-like ttrpg, and other games...

I will DM if it means I get to play a little dnd but I am so lost about all of it and I am so afraid of making people upset by pushing them a little, sometimes it feels like I'm maybe not cut out for dnd. Maybe it's best if I watch people play it ?

last night, a little homestuck before bed and :

-i dont think i can maintain the facade of composure or coherence anymore. this is five seconds before john find several people brutally slaughtered, including his own dad, and he himself get stabbed to death. look at him! look at how silly this child is. my zillyhoo son, its unfair theyre piling up all this shit to you.

-i get why rose went grimdark tbh. things are pretty bad out there. it fucks me up that she's like, taking over the suicide mission. and how awful it is that she'd gone off the deep end that she looked at her parents dead body and only think of killing. something i noticed between the two light players is that theyre always burdening themselves with the hard, difficult tasks alone even though the team wanted it to be done as a group effort. its commendable but not always a good thing.

-its pretty funny that the kids with shitty guardians' have a wildly contrasting reactions to their dead parents like

dave, at the beginning of story : my bro is the coolest guy ever

dave now : huh. he's dead. okay. time to use the sword lodged in his chest as a trampoline! sweet loot. i love not getting knifed in my apartment

rose, at the beginning of the story : my loathsome mother and her penchant for the devil's drink!!!!!

rose, now : i should've looked out for her *activates rage mode*

i mean, i suppose thats appropriate but. you know how it is. poor kids, they've been through a lot. did they even have a warm meal lately? also i think bro is kinda handsome and i understand his fascination with puppets. i too, read a tentacle dick spamton fic as a lark and becomes genuinely intrigued with it.

-i am in love, in love! with the format of clicking to a collage of pictures. There was just so much Shit going on and the banner have doc scratch home being burned down and snowman making out after smoking a bloodied pipe. and then jade hunting frogs with dave. it would have been adorable to see these kids finally meeting each other for the first time if the world wasnt going to do a hard reset.

-fuck it. an AU. kids being kids. no sburb no tragedy. theyre just online friends. jade's grandpa is alive, he took jade into civilization often so she's not undersocialized and knows how to function if she wants to live a normal life. and as a birthday gift he took all of her friends to the island as a surprise for her 13th birthday. they spend the day catching frogs and playing paintball. and then at night, rose and jade urge everyone to try lucid dreaming. none of them made it because theyre all too busy making fun of john's movie selection. dave is beatboxing over squiddles music. and then right in the middle of their playing, a ship crash landed to the island. it was the trolls.

-uhhghgghghhh i need to see. an animatic. of jade and dave's fight. with bec noir. look at all the moves theyre making it would have been one hell of a fight and we were robbed of a proper flash with boisterous music! space time vs omnipotence lets fucking go!

-speaking of vriska, wow she really is giving her all in these pages. her last stand with jack. the enemy she took part in creating. she knew she was going to die and done her best asking out literally everyone alive. and the best/worst thing is, everyone accepts. terezi literally came to her with all the rp outfit they used to do. and, i know i should be shocked but im just laughing at karkat showing up late with the sloppy makeout note. And she gave the cutest most adorable date proposal to john like, ugh its cute teenage puppy love! yes, i think they'd go well together. I dunno, maybe its my kimharry enjoyer heart speaking, but i think characters who'd done terrible violence should be with someone who only met them after they strived to be someone better, or at least a blank slate. that way, they get a fresh start and can focus on improving instead of getting distracted with hurt feelings and old wounds. also i am not burdening terezi, aradia, tavros, and all of the kids she personally maimed with All of That tbh. unless they want to ofc.

matesprit -> still, the poster of nicholas cage in con air, or karkat if youre so inclined to imagine a world where she makes out with karkat before fighting terezi. gross lol.

moirallegiance -> john, full stop. her relationship with terezi needs some peace time before coming back into pale redrom

kismesis -> terezi. im FROTHING at the mouth thinking at the tragedy of their relationship. this is some intergenerational trauma shit, some wicked codependency junk, like the cuno and his buddy C. its the real shit fa- (okay i should stop speaking like cuno before i embarras myself)

-im curious about the sprites. i hope they find a way to be relevant again. i've always think theyre awesome and has more info that could have been beneficial for the kids.

I'm looking for a new rp partner that will be understanding of my busy schedule. I have some ideas, mainly oc-driven and associated with things like The Phantom of the Opera or superhero media, but I'm open to other ideas. I'm also interested in dark modern fantasy (Think Laurel K. Hamilton and Holly Black style).

A couple of things to keep in mind;

1) I have a relatively busy schedule and may struggle to write a reply immediately for a range of reasons, from school to other things

2) My replies can range from short to long, depending on your writing style. Think of me as a living mirror when it comes to writing.

3) my interests may shift from time to time and new ideas may be proposed and old ones may be paused.

4) A private discord server for the roleplays will be made where we can keep track of all of the stories. Most of the time, I'll only be able to do one or two at a time, though.

5) I primarily roleplay on discord because that's where I do best with formatting.

6) I use Grammarly, and Grammarly isn't always correct with grammar *despite the name*, so my apologies if it's off.

I hope to make a few friends along the way!
