Nice fucking try - e. m.
—☕️
He was never at any of the games- which fair enough, why would he be?
Yet you couldn’t help the disappointment when you scanned the crowd for a specific mop of curls with no luck. You had practiced the fuck out of this routine and yet no one would probably be looking at you- they’d all look at chrissy instead.
It was like this often. You’d search for Eddie, and when you finally caught him, you’d sit and watch his sporadic movements and tales, admiring him from afar. He had sent a couple of sweet smiles your way; that was your only lifeline to him and you being a possibility. You were a cheerleader after all, and you knew how the basket team treated people like Eddie. You knew he probably thought the same of you but you were aching to prove him otherwise.
You had to do something about the way your heart was on fire for him, a bird beating itself to death in a cage, a moth around a lamppost- you couldn’t keep letting it burn until there was only ashes left.
You knew he had his usual hellfire club meeting today, and suddenly the routine you were doing was the least of your concerns- you even stepped on someone’s toes in the process but it didn’t matter. You were going for it. You were gonna give him the sweetest smile and the most sincere smile and ask Eddie Munson on a date, no matter what any of your friends thought. No matter to what depths your social status would go. You would risk it for him, you were head over heels after all.
After changing quickly while ignoring the annoyed look from your friends ‘cause of your routine slip up, you hurried to the hellfire club room.
Rocking back and forth in your converse, you leaned against a locker while fiddling with the strap of your gym bag. No sooner did the door fling open and several members left the room, mainly ignoring you or giving you a suspicious side-eye, except Mike who waved to you, since you knew Nancy. She was one of the few people who you trusted with your feelings about Eddie. When all had left, you stepped inside to see Eddie packing up from the campaign.
You didn’t say anything, heart suddenly in your throat and palms sweaty. The fabric of his white t-shirt was stretching over his back and he reached over the table, not yet noticing your presence.
“Eddie?” You asked softly, but he still jumped at your voice, a few dices clattering to the ground. The room was ominously lit, casting amber shadows over his pretty face.
“Uh, yes?” He asked slightly confused- suspicion already bleeding from his tone. He picked the dice off of the floor and continued to pack everything away while you stood.
“I uhm- well I don’t know if you know my name-“
“- y/n, yeah. I know.” He grumbled, not seeming particularly interested in what you had to say. You tried not to let it defeat the courage that had etched into your skin, dripping on your tongue.
“Was it a good… campaign?” You asked with a weary voice. You had secretly picked up a little starter guide to the dice game Eddie seemed so passionate about, to try and understand him better.
He scoffed. What kind of fucking foolery was the jocks up to now?
He didn’t even bother replying, knowing that wasn’t the reason you were here, was probably a fucking trick question already. You cheerleaders were like little heathens.
When he didn’t reply you felt your face flush in embarrassment- had you said something wrong?
“Okay well uh- I was wondering if,” you stuttered, fumbled over all your words as you kept fidgeting with your bag. The bird in the cage surely almost done for. The moth was growing tired.
“- if you’d like to do something with me sometime? Like hangout? On- on a date or something like that?” You asked. Your voice was breathy and the words came out a lot faster and unsure than you would’ve liked.
Finally he diverted his attention to you, his figure turning torturously slow, a finger raised in the air in front of him. “You’re asking me out?” He asked incredulously. He didn’t believe they would try such an old trick on him.
“Nice fucking tryyyy Princess,” he said loudly, voice dragging out the words- in case any of your friends were on the other side of the door laughing their asses off.
“What, you’d take me out to a nice dinner, laugh at my jokes and let me take you home to my scrappy little trailer? Is that what you want?” He laughed humourlessly, tongue rolling around his cheek while he stalked towards you.
“I- I mean that sounds fine to me?” You tried, voice more unsteady than ever. You couldn’t tell what was happening but the bird and the moth were lying helplessly in your heart and hot tears tickled the corners of your eyes.
“That sounds fine to you? I’m not falling for this shit, little witch. Run back to your friends, will ya?” He didn’t even spare you another glance as he finished cleaning the table and flung his leather jacket on.
You stood motionless, throat bobbing in an effort not to cry. He hadn’t just rejected you, he had completely misjudged you with no after thought- discarded you because of prejudices. You stormed out of the room with a horrible mix of rage and shame washing over you.
—☕️
“Something sick happened when all you little sheep left hellfire yesterday,” Eddie began as he placed his lunch tray drown dramatically. He glared over to the jocks table, surprised to instead find you sitting alone, sulking.
“What’s up?” Dustin asked curiously, biting into his apple.
“Little miss y/l/n tried to ask me out yesterday. Tried to humiliate me- but this mighty fucking game master didn’t fall for it,” he said almost proudly, digging into his lunch.
“Woah she asked you out? Was that why she was outside hellfire?” Mike said, voice borderline serious in a way that caught both Dustin and Eddies attention.
“Yes, so? Was expecting me to waltz right into that little trap,” he scoffed.
“Y/n asked you out? Dude she likes you! Seriously- I heard Nance and her talking about it a couple weeks ago in the car. She’s like over the moon for you, man.” Mike gestured around wildly to punctuate his words and their meaning.
Eddie stopped eating instantly, whatever was in his hand clattering to the tray as he looked over to your hunched figure again- head down, not eating, not talking.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck- please tell me you’re joking kid.” He tried desperately, looking between Mike and Dustin who didn’t waver at all. “Nope. No joke. Can’t stop talking about you I swear.”
Eddie buried his head in his hands.
A pretty, nice cheerleader had asked him out- had a fucking crush on him and he mocked her like that? Scared her away? The realisation hit him like a ton of bricks as he dragged his palms over his face and through his hair, reliving the whole experience yesterday; how nervous you had been, how you asked him about this campaign.
Before his mind could prepare him more, he jumped from his seat and ran through the cafeteria, nearly stumbling and drawing all eyes to him as usual.
You looked up, throat twisting into knots as you saw Eddie sit, literally, on his knees on the floor next to the bench where you sat in your solitude.
“Y/n-“ he said, almost out of breath. His eyes were so big and soft, so pleading and glossy, it touched your heart despite the way he broke it yesterday.
“Y/n I’m so sorry. I thought you were messing with me yesterday. Thought it was some kind of joke from your friends or- I didn’t- I didn’t know you meant it but Mike-“ he breathed again, pausing. Everyone was looking at the two of you, your eyes wide at his hasty, guilty confessions.
“Hey, hey-“ you said, placing a hand on his shoulder “-lets uh- go somewhere else, hm?” You tried, standing from the bench. He swallowed loudly before looking around.
“Yeah, yeah okay,” he breathed. When he looked at you then, he swore there was a gleam of something in your eyes.
It was hope.
You took his warm hand and dragged him out into the hall, ignoring the mocking from where your former friends sat. Where you used to be.
Eddie stuck his tongue out devilishly as you passed them before disappearing into the silent hall with you.
“Hi,” you said then, a soft smile splaying on your lips. It made Eddie’s insides flutter, knowing you were being genuine.
“Hey,” he replied with a huff, a broad grin adorning his features now too.
“I’m sorry-“ he began again but you cut him off quickly; his dramatic cafeteria gesture was enough of an apology to you, and you couldn’t even blame him for thinking like that with you being a part of the cheer squad.
“It’s okay, Eddie. I know I don’t seem like the type, but I promise you I- I think I really like you,” you confessed nervously, eyes darting around the tile floor “and I’m not friends with those dickheads anymore. Swear.”
The bird was beating around the cage, wilder and wilder and the moth dances excitedly around the bright burning lamppost.
“So the offers still- its still on?” He asked hopefully. You couldn’t possibly resist those puppy dog eyes he flashed you, the way his hands fidgeted with the rings adorning his slender fingers.
You nodded eagerly, not daring to believe any of this was really happening. “I’m not much for dinners, though” you added. He laughed. A warm sound you could see yourself getting very used to.
“Me neither. We’ll figure something out, hm?” He asked rhetorically, head tilting to the side to peer down at your hopeful face. Your expression made the guilt from yesterday wash away from his conscience, albeit slowly. God you were gorgeous, and he had half a mind to believe he was dreaming in this moment.
“It’s a date, then.” You stated. Before he could reply, you raised to your tiptoes and kissed his cheek gently.
A furious red blush crept up on his cheek and neck, his lips parted in surprise.
“Yeah. Yeah, it’s uh- it’s a date,” he smiled, flustered as he squeezed your hand.
So damn gorgeous, he thought.

Eddie started having night terrors.
They didn’t come every night, but their intensity had you concerned.
The first one had you flying over the back of the couch to get to him. His shrieks turned your blood cold, and watching him shake and convulse was terrifying to witness. In your panic, you wrapped your arms around him to try to ground him and ended up getting hit in the face. After that you asked your teacher for advice on what interventions to do when someone has an episode.
But you weren’t the only one to suffer with pain after getting clocked in the jaw. The days after an episode left Eddie’s body sore from the sudden jerking of his muscles in his sleep. It probably didn’t help that he had also started physical therapy twice a week either, leaving him sore even with his pain medication most of the time.
Needless to say, Eddie was acting like his normal grumpy self most days, even when his friends would come over. Though, he did try and reel it back when he could catch himself or with a subtle nudge from you. By now you’d gotten used to his grumpy attitude and knew it was just coming from a place of hurting. In turn he’s been much more cooperative with you. Progress.
“What the hell are you guys doing?” You ask with a laugh, as you get out of your car. Eddie is sitting on the ground leaning back against his hands with his legs sprawled out. Will and Grant sit on either side of him as Dustin pushes Eddie’s wheelchair on its back wheels, Jeff sitting in it and squealing as Gareth and Mike laugh.
“They’re trying to break Jeff so him and Eddie can get matching chairs,” Grant called, eliciting a laugh from Eddie and Will.
“N’they’re gonna pay for his new one when they break that one,” Wayne calls from the porch, lit cigarette in hand. All around him are pumpkins of all different shapes and sizes, like a little pumpkin patch had grown around him.
“Ah, I see.” You nod.
Grabbing your bag, you walk into the Munson home to get your things settled. Glancing over into the dining room, you expected to see the table already set up for their game night, but were surprised to see it covered in newspaper and knives and spoons.
“Are you guys carving these pumpkins?” You ask, stepping back out onto the porch and pointing at the Wayne’s posse.
“Yep,” Eddie called back. “My PT said it would be a “fun activity” to work on my hand strength," he said with stiff fingered air quotes.
“Yeah, Eddie’s gonna scoop out all the guts with his bare hands,” Dustin says, setting the wheelchair back down to wiggle his fingers.
“Ew gross,” Mike joins in with Dustin’s antics.
“It’s not gross,” you say with a roll of the eyes. “Save the seeds and I’ll bake them for later.”
“Mmm, some roasted pumpkin seeds sounds real good.” Wayne says, putting his cigarette out and standing from his seat. “Save me some a’them when you make em.”
“Of course!”
“Hey, should we show her what we found earlier?” Your ears twitch when you hear Will lean into Eddie’s side. He looks at you over his shoulder, then back to the group before nodding.
And that’s how you ended up following the boys through the woods around the Munson house. Grant pushed Eddie’s chair through the woods, which wasn’t as terrible of terrain as you had expected. If the slight bounce bothered him, Eddie didn’t say. You stayed steady next to him, only moving to let them go ahead of you when the mostly thinned out trees were too close in some areas.
After a few minutes and a lot of loud conversation between the boys, you came to a small clearing that dropped off into a cliff. It made you nervous to see the boys get so close to the drop, especially when Grant pushed Eddie almost to the very edge.
“Hey, be careful, please,” you called from behind them.
“Come on, come see how far down this is!” Jeff called, his toes right on the cliff’s edge. You take a couple steps forward, just enough that you can see the water sloshing at the bottom.
To see it made you dizzy, so you tried to focus your eyes elsewhere, instead taking in the breathtaking view of the lake below. You could see boats, houses, and even a man fishing off of a dock behind his house. If there was a railing or something to hold on to out here, you could see yourself coming out here to sit with Eddie on a nice day.
“Woah, shit!” Your heart stops beating as you watch Will pull Mike’s stumbling body back from the ledge, and you’re instantly done with this whole adventure.
“Alright, I get the idea. Field trips over,” you say, walking over to Eddie’s chair and pulling him back. “We better go carve those pumpkins before it gets too late and the kids have to go home.”
There’s some groans of protest, but they all follow your lead back to through the woods.
“You have to admit it was pretty cool, though, right?” Eddie says, his head tilting back just a bit to look at you. He was smiling. It was something he started doing more and you couldn’t help the way it made your stomach flip every time he did it.
“Yeah, it was definitely a nice view,” you agreed with a sigh.
“Maybe when it gets warm out we can try jumping from it.” You hear Gareth say to one of the other boys. You recall the large drop from where you all stood at the top and a shiver went down your spine.
“I wouldn’t...unless you really want to get your own wheelchair to match Eddie's,” you say back. Gareth doesn’t let out another peep for the duration of the walk back.
Tumblr media
“Okay, since Eddie is on scooping duty make sure you give him your pumpkins once you’ve got the tops off.”
The boys are sitting in their normal gaming formation, except for where Eddie and Gareth have swapped sides so Eddie can sit next to you. The pumpkin that the boys picked out for Eddie sits in front of you since you offered to carve it for him.
“What are you going to draw on it?” You ask him as you cut into the top of the thick pumpkin with force.
“I’m not sure yet,” he says indecisively. “Something scary for sure.”
“How about Mrs. O’Donnell?” Gareth nudges Eddie’s side, and the boys at the table all grimace.
“Fuck no. As terrifying as she is, I’d rather carve a demoba--”
Eddie catches himself mid sentence, horror written all over his face as he looks directly at Dustin. Mike and Will share similar pale faced expressions as Dustin. The tension at the table could be cut with a knife and you weren’t sure how to defuse the situation.
“Well,” Grant is the first to break the silence, “I think that, whatever we all decide to do, that we could make it into a competition. Let the newbie decide who has the best design.” He was looking straight at you and you were caught off guard by the new label.
“Oh, come on, that’s not fair,” Gareth chimes in before you can say anything, “Will is like, one of the best artists in the whole town. He’s definitely gonna win.” Will sat up straight in his chair, before shrinking down with a smile.
“Hey, now, let’s not forget who designed these bad ass tee shirts,” Eddie says, gesturing at himself.
“You made those designs?” You ask surprised. Eddie nods with pride.
“Yep, when Hellfire was founded in ‘82. We scrounged up enough money to go to a print shop and have these bad boys made at the beginning of the school year. Wasn’t cheap, so we’ve always tried to be extra careful with them.”
“Awe, that’s so cute,” you giggle.
The table erupts in a defensive roar about how it is apparently not cute that their club has tee shirts that they take very good care of. No one was convincing you otherwise.
You blew them off and distracted them by having them give Eddie their pumpkins. They all watched with amusement as Eddie reached down into each pumpkin and pulled the slimy, seedy guts out of them. Eddie’s button nose scrunched up with disgust, contrasted by the wide grin that touched his eyes. His tongue poked out in concentration as he swirled around the inside of the pumpkin, plopping the guts into bowls and pots with each one.
By the time he had gutted each pumpkin of their contents, Eddie looked like he was done for the rest of the night.
“Eddie, do you want to save your pumpkin for another night?” You ask quietly, leaning in so only he could hear. He looks at you, brown orbs darting back and forth between your eyes carefully before smiling at you.
“Yeah, please?”
“Of course.”
Tumblr media
“See, I told you that Will was going to win!” Gareth shouted, his hands falling at his side with a huff as the rest of the group laughed at his bitching.
“I’m sorry, it’s really good! That’s the most detailed pumpkin carving of a vampire’s face I’ve ever seen.”
“Thanks,” Will said bashfully.
“Gareth, I don’t know why you’re bitching. Your jack-o-lanturn’s eyes aren’t even the same size.” Eddie razzed, goading Gareth until he flipped him off.
“Awe, I thought the mismatched eyes were cute,” you said teasingly, and Gareth froze, turning away from your eyes to stand by Will, who gave him a pat on the back.
As you all stood around admiring the hard work of everyone’s carved pumpkins, the sound of loud music playing grabbed all of your attention. It progressively got louder, sounding like it was coming from down the driveway.
“What the hell?” Jeff said with a tilt of his head.
Everyone seemed more confused than anything, but you clocked the look on Eddie’s face as he looked between the trees of the winding driveway. There was a fear there that you’d only seen in his face during his night terrors, and everything in your body was telling you that you needed to get him and everyone else inside.
“Come on guys, lets go—”
The loud revving of the engine drowned out the sound of whatever song the driver was playing. The car came over the bump at an alarming pace before slamming on its breaks once it got up to the clearing. Headlights blinded all of you, and your body moved on its own accord to stand directly in front of Eddie.
The engine cut off abruptly, the lights dimming enough to reveal fire engine red sports car with a black stripe down the middle. You could barely see the fuzzy dice hanging from the rear view mirror through the heavily tinted windows.
“Holy shit,” you hear Eddie say behind you. The fear had left his features, replaced with an elated shock that left you wanting to ask several questions. But before you could question him, Eddie maneuvered around you and the rest of the guys heading straight toward the mysterious car.
Just as Eddie approached the car, the driver side door swung open. A man  only a few years older than you with blond, spiked hair stepped out. The man had to be at least 6’5, his face covered in piercings and he had an over all aura of trouble.
“How the hell did he get this address?” You hear Jeff question Grant and Gareth.
“Rick!” Eddie shouts excitedly.
“Holy fuck, dude,” Rick says, pushing up his sunglasses and slamming his car door shut. He runs up to Eddie and embraces him tightly, bending down to be at his level. Rick pulled back, looking Eddie up and down before bringing his hand down on his shoulder a few times.
“Damn, that dude really did a number on you, huh?”
Eddie visibly shrinks, shrugging his shoulders. “Yeah, you could say that.”
“Who the hell is that?” You ask Jeff quietly, taking a few steps back to be standing next to him.
“That’s Reefer Rick,” he says with an annoyed tone. “He’s Eddie’s friend. Got Eddie into dealing in school.” Your neck almost breaks with how quickly you look at Jeff.
“Dealing? Like, drug dealing?”
Jeff looks at you and nods. “Uh, yeah? You didn’t know about that?”
“Um, no. I didn’t.”
“It was just weed,” Jeff as an attempt to save face, “Aaaaaand sometimes random pills that Rick would give him to sell. But nothing serious.”
“Oh, okay. Just weed and pills. Which are both totally illegal to sell but it’s cool right?” Your blood was starting to boil with this new information. You don’t know why you’re even upset, it’s not like you really cared if people smoked weed or whatever.
Really it’s the idea of Eddie getting in trouble after everything he’s been through. Drug dealers are notorious for being sneaky and conniving, right? What if this guy thinks Eddie got money in the settlement and is here looking for a handout.
“Hi," you say in a clipped tone to the man as you approach him and Eddie. You give him just your first name, extending a hand out to him with faux pleasantry as you settle next to Eddie in his chair. “Who are you?”
“Oh, hey, this is Rick,” Eddie says to you with excitement. “Rick, this is my…caregiver.”
Rick takes your hand, looking you up and down before giving you a loose handshake. “Well, hello nurse,” Rick smiles, maintains eye contact with you as he continues to hold your hand..
After a beat Eddie clears his throat, and Rick retracts his hand from yours. You don’t miss the subtle shift in Eddie’s chair, making him close enough you can feel his arm against yours. You took the hint, and stepped back until you were behind his chair. Rick laughed lowly before looking back to Eddie.
“Well, I’m glad you have someone who can take care of you,” Rick says with a cheshire smile. “Especially since I’m sure Wayne is back at work. Must be expensive to live all the way out here.”
“Eh, we had it built out here as part of the settlement, so it’s paid for. He still has to pay the bills, though.” Eddie’s voice trails off at the end. “Wish I could do something to help…”
“Yeah, I don’t blame ya,” Rick says as he scans the land, nodding his head to the guys as he does. “I’m sure you’re not interested in getting back into the business with me given…well, everything.”
“Ah, yeah…I owe you an apology…” Eddie looks up to Rick with a guilty expression.
“For what? Oh, you mean my house?” Eddie nods and Rick waves him off. “Nah, don’t sweat it man. I took everything with me when I went to Vegas so if anyone went in there snooping they wouldn’t have found anything anyway. It looked like they had sent someone in to clean though. Looked nicer than the day my parents—I mean, the day I bought it.” Eddie nods, letting out a breath that he was holding as Rick talked.
“Well that’s nice that your house that you bought is all clean,” you say, grabbing onto the handles of Eddie’s wheelchair, “And since he’s isn’t interested in your business endeavors, I guess that means you don’t need anything from Eddie then, right?”
Rick looks down at Eddie, then back up to you with a curious look. His tongue rings peaks out from between his lips as he plays with it, before popping it back in his mouth to speak.
“Well, I was just coming out here to see a dear old friend of mine. But, there is one thing that I want to speak with him about. In private.” He leans down to eye level, eyes squinting with how tightly he smiles at you.
You open your mouth to protest immediately, but you feel Eddie push against the wheels, his chair moving away from you as he motioned Rick to follow him.
“Give us just a second.”
You stand in the same spot, speechless as they move far enough away that you can’t hear the conversation between them. A hand on your shoulder pulls your attention, and Dustin motions you back over to where the guys are huddled together.
“He’s an idiot,” Grant whisper yells into the huddle.
“Yeah, but he’s obviously lost his best salesmen for the high school territory,” Mike argues. “Wouldn’t be surprised if he was asking if one of us would want to start dealing for him.”
“He better not. You guys better not,” you say with a pointed finger at the boys who were still in high school.
“Trust us, we won’t,” Dustin said with a firm tone.
“Well, whatever he wants, it’s probably not good.”
“Well…”
“Jeff, no.”
“Hey, he’s the whole reason Eddie even stayed in high school. He probably would have dropped out if Rick hadn’t convinced him to keep trying.”
“He only wanted Eddie to keep trying so he could keep selling drugs to high schoolers!”
“That’s a pretty good point.”
“What’s a good point?”
All heads turned to Eddie, who was just behind you with an amused smile on his face. Rick wasn’t with him, still standing back by his car with a lit cigarette in his hand, eyes watching you carefully.
“Oh, we were just…”
“We were saying that you two should decorate her car for the Trunk r Treat festival. And the point was…that you could wear a mask and no one would know it was you?”
Everyone looks at Dustin like he has two heads. Where he even came up with that…you had no idea.
Eddie’s curls bounce as he shakes his head. “What? Trunk r Treat? What are you guys talking about?”
“Oh, the Trunk r Treat is what the town is doing instead of regular trick r treating since the roads are still pretty messed up. Everyone is gonna pull their cars into the fairgrounds and let the kids trick r treat there.”
“That sounds like fun,” you say, looking at Eddie with a hopeful smile. “It would be nice to get out of the house for a little bit. You said Halloween is your favorite holiday, right? I think it would be fun!”
“You guys are serious, aren’t you?” The mood shifts when Eddie speaks. “You seriously think it would be a good idea for me to go out into public? On Halloween night?”
“That’s why I said you could wear a mask!” Dustin seems to be the only one who isn’t affected by Eddie’s tone. “And no one knows you’re missing part of your leg. It would be perfect.” Dustin gestures to you, “And you’ll have your guardian angel with you. If anyone does give you shit she can pack you up in the car real quick and you can say ‘I told you so’ to us at the next Hellfire meeting.’”
Eddie’s jaw rolls in frustration, a heavy sigh leaving him as he leans forward in his chair.
“Hopper will be there,” Will chimes in. “Him and my mom are going to decorate the back of his old police cruiser. I-I could tell him you’re going and I’m sure he’d keep an eye out on you.” The boys look from Will to Eddie as they wait for his response.
“I…I…Let—let me think about it. Okay? No promises.”
The boys all perk up at Eddie’s potential compliance. Chatter about costumes and getting together at Mike’s parents house has everyone forgetting about the concerns of Rick’s arrival.
You remember though. You hear Rick laugh to himself from where he’s leaning against his car. Looking over your shoulder, you watch as he flicks his cigarette away and opens the door. Stopping about halfway in, he looks at Eddie then to you. He sends you a wink, then gets in without another word.
Tumblr media
After about a week of convincing from all the Hellfire boys, you, and even Wayne, Eddie finally caved in and agreed to go to the Hawkins Trunk r Treat. Wayne talked with Hopper about trying to get your cars parked next to each other during the whole event just in case. And Wayne also promised that him and his friend Ben would stay close by in town if anything happened. Eddie didn’t really have much of a reason to say no.
You on the other hand had to come up with an excuse as to why you wouldn’t be spending Halloween with your best friend.
“We ALWAYS have movie night! You can’t just call in sick or something?” Tonya pleads with you as the two of you split each others Chinese take out. You shrug your shoulders, the feeling of guilt creeping up like bile in your throat.
“I’m sorry Tonnie, I can’t. Honestly, I’m surprised you haven’t made plans with Charles for the night.”
“He probably would have asked but he knows that we always spend Halloween together.”
“I’m sorry, Tonya, but we’re big girls now. Sometimes things need to change…”
Her lower lip pouts at you, and you can tell by the way her eyes are glassy that she’s genuinely upset. If it were anyone else, you would be spending time with her in a heart beat. Ever since the two of you became friends, Halloween has been your thing.
You’d always been scared of the holiday after when happened with your parents, but over the years Tonya has been able to slowly tear down your fears and make the holiday enjoyable again. Now that you’ve gotten the chance to potentially to the same with Eddie and his fear of going in public again, you feel obligated to follow in her image.
“I’m really proud of you, you know?” She miles as you as she dabs the wetness from her eyes. “I can’t believe how much you’ve changed. Your parents, your grandparents…they’d be really happy to see you working so hard. With school, work, and still helping me out here…Oh, come here!”
She stands from her seat and rushed to hug you, which you return with equal adoration. For a split moment you want to tell her everything. About Eddie and everything he’s been through. About how you’re starting to prefer being at the Munson house over anywhere else. About how if anyone has come out of their shell, it’ Eddie. About how you’re not really sure about Sam, and how you don’t want to admit that there might be a reason why you’re feeling that way…
Tumblr media
“Weren’t kiddin’ about your trunk being big, huh?” Eddie and Wayne peer into the trunk of your car as you pop it open. “I’m sure you won’t have any issue gettin’ it in and outta here. Want me t’help ya get in, son?”
“Can I try first?”
Wayne nods and Eddie maneuvers himself to the passenger side of your car. You’re already standing there waiting with the door open for him, holding it in place.
The Trunk r Treat was this coming weekend and the Hellfire boys were going to help decorate your trunk before Friday’s game. All you and Eddie had to do was get the materials and the candy. You saw Wayne hand Eddie some cash thinking that you weren’t looking, but you had no intention of letting Eddie pay for anything. This was for him, so why stress him out when you know that money is a touchy subject for him?
Eddie gets his chair in position and locks the wheels. Grabbing the “oh shit” handle and the side of the door, he lifts himself up from his chair and pauses for a moment. His face is scrunched up from pain after already having physical therapy this morning. It was hard not to get him to over do it now that his mobility has started to improve, but you would rather him learn his limits than go back to being bedridden.
A few deep breaths and a quick shift of his foot puts his ass on the edge of the seat of your car. There’s a loud thump where his head bumps the low slope of your cars door, but he just rolls his eyes and laughs it off, much to your joy. You think about how two months ago when you started caring for him that he probably would have thrown a fit and fell in it if he were to go through this exact scenario now.
“Good job, Eddie,” you praise. He looks away from you bashfully, muttering a small thanks under his breath. Even if he wouldn’t admit it, you know deep down Eddie likes to be told he’s doing good. You’ve noticed it in the ways he reacts to you commenting on all of his achievements; the coy smiles and the way he starts to fidget with his rings when you sing his praises.
Wayne grabs Eddie’s chair and puts it in the trunk. “You gonna be able to get this thing out when ya get there?”
“Yep! I’m used to lugging wheelchairs around by now. No biggie!”
Wayne nods and rounds the car to Eddie’s side. As the two men talk, you hop into the passenger seat and start the car.
“Now don’t go and give her any trouble, Eds.”
“I know, I know,” Eddie says, rolling his eyes. “If anything she’s gonna give me trouble. I just know she’s gonna be having me dress up in every costume they have there.”
“That’s not true,” you say defensively. “I actually already know what I want you to go as, so if you don’t fight me on it then you’ll only have to try one costume on.”
“Why does that not make me feel any better?”
Wayne barks out a laugh before closing the car door. He waves the two of you off as you make your way down the driveway until he’s no longer in site.

“Okay, let me make sure I’m understanding you right.” Eddie holds up the large, white, round costume that you handed to him, eyeing it skeptically. “You want me to dress up as…an egg?”
You laugh through your nose involuntarily, trying and failing to keep your composure. In your hand you hold what can only be describe as a “sexy devil” costume that consists of a short red dress, a pair of devil horns, and devil’s spear.
“Yeah, and I’ll be the devil, see? We’d—” you snort again, “We’d be deviled eggs!”
A smile cracks on Eddie’s face, more amused at your inability to contain your own laughter rather than at your poor excuse for a Halloween costume idea. He give you a half serious look as he hands you back the egg costume without another comment.
“Awe, come on,” you say as you take the costume from him, “you have to at least admit it was funny.”
“Yeah, yeah, whatever. What’s the real idea that you have?”
You swap the costumes out from the rack for the ones you really wanted to do. Handing Eddie the long nightgown, you hold up what would be your costume; a long red cape and a plaid blue dress with a ruffle under the skirt.
“Okay, so obviously that’s red riding hood,” Eddie says pointing to your outfit. “But what exactly is—” You hand him a wolf mask, which he takes from you and examines carefully.
“You’ll be the Big Bad Wolf, disguised as the grandmother,” you explain after a long moment of silence.
“Yeah, I gathered that,” he sasses. He takes a few more moments to think it over, and you watch the way he looks at your costume, then to you. There’s a shift in his demeanor that you can’t quite interpret, and before you can think too much into it he finally speaks.
“Alright, I’ll do it,” he says, placing the costume pieces in his lap. “Better than the deviled egg idea.”
“Well, maybe next year I can sway you into the deviled egg. But I guess this works, too.” Eddie straightens in his chair, and you swear you could see a small blush on his cheeks.
After you gathered everything for your costumes, you and Eddie did a little more shopping around for some stuff to decorate your trunk with. Streamers, hanging bats, fake spider webs, and enough candy to feed a small village fill your arms and Eddie’s lap all the way to the check out counter.
As the girl behind the counter rings out your items, you notice she keeps taking glances at Eddie. He’s too busy looking at the check out candle to notice, but you keep an eye on her just in case.
“Is that all for you?” She asks with a pop of her gum. You nod and she give you your total. As you reach for your wallet in your purse, Eddie shift in his chair, pulling out his own wallet.
“I got it,” he says, taking a $20 bill from the billfold.
“Nope,” you say, pulling out your own money and handing it to the cashier.
“No, please. I want to pay--”
“It’s okay, Eddie. Save it and buy us a pizza or something sometime when I don’t feel like cooking your dinner.”
The girl behind the counter’s gum popped loudly as she held your change in her hand. Eddie shrank back in his chair, stuffing the $20 back into his wallet. You took your bags from the counter and plopped them in Eddie’s lap, much to his surprise.
“Here, if you want to help, you can carry these.”
As you push his him out of the shop, Eddie asks you to stop before going off the curb.
“What’s up?”
“Can we go into the Goodwill over there?” He nods down the strip of stores where the sign to the second hand shop is displayed in the window.
“Sure,” you say without a second thought, “Lets put these bags in my car and then we can go in there.”
The store is a little busier than you expected. Everyone from kids to adults were checking out the shelves for their last minute home made costumes and accessories to wear this weekend. It made you happy to see so many people excited about the event.
The boys told you that Halloween can be a big deal in Hawkins. But after the earthquake, those who still remained wondered if there would even be a Halloween this year. Apparently the mother of one of their friends, Lucas, joined the city counsel and pitched the idea in a city meeting and most everyone was on board.
“The only person who protested was Mary Cunningham,” Dustin told you in a hushed tone. “She said it wasn’t safe to have all of the towns kids in one spot for ‘easy pickings.’” Mary Cunningham was the mother of Chrissy Cunningham, the girl that was murdered by Victor Creel in Eddie’s trailer before he attempted to kill Eddie himself. Wayne never told you this, but, according to the boys, Mary Cunningham is still convinced Eddie was the one who tried to kill Eddie, despite the evidence that supports that it was Creel. You hoped that she wouldn’t show up to the event this weekend.
“No way!” Eddie pulls a tee shirt from one of the racks. You’re standing next to his chair rather than behind it to make room for people to go around you in the tight, over stuffed isles. You turn your body, hand on his shoulder as you try to let a lady and he kid move behind you.
“What is it?”
“It’s a Black Sabbath tour shirt! This one’s from a tour they did in the 70’s though. Like a tour they did in Europe. I wonder how it ended up in this dump of a Goodwill?”
“Sounds like it ended up here so that you could buy it.”
Eddie looked at the shirt solemnly. Most of his attire that he had consisted of plain tee shirts and pajama pants that had come from packs at the store. All of his clothes and other personal belongings had been swallowed up by the earthquake and destroyed.
“Well…” he said after a few moments, “It is only 50 cents…”
“Perfect!” You pluck the shirt from his hands and fold it over your arm. “Keep looking. Maybe someone’s metal loving uncle passed away and his family brought his clothes here. I’m gonna go look at some pants for you.”

“There’s that beautiful smile that I love to see,” Sam says as you push the door of his office open. You gave him a small smile, setting his coffee down on his desk. He stood up, rounding the desk to embrace you in a tight hug, his lips meeting the top of your head to leave a kiss there.
“Morning,” you say, taking a step back from him when he loosens his grip. “Sorry I couldn’t bring you one of these before today. Hopefully you made it through the week without.”
“Barely,” he said with a sarcastic huff. “Have to admit I missed seeing you more, though. Been busy with midterms?”
You give him an exhausted nod. Between getting everything together for this weekend, helping Tonya deep clean the house before her trip with Charles, and dealing with your midterms, you’d been properly worn down to a barely functioning human.
“Awe, poor thing,” Sam cooes at you, his hand cupping your face to rub his thumb against your cheek. “Sounds like you deserve a little fun weekend. My buddy is having a get together at his house weekend and I’d really love for you to come.”
“This weekend?” You ask. Sam nods. “Oh, no I-I can’t. It’s Halloween weekend and…I spend it with Tonya every year. It’s been our tradition since we were kids. Sorry.”
“Oh, that’s okay. I’ve been wanting to meet her and this Charles guy you hate so much. We can do a double date. Maybe some haunted houses or something?”
“No! No—I, um, I don’t do haunted houses.” That wasn’t a lie.
“That’s fine, maybe a movie at the drive in?”
“Sam, I’m sorry. It’s not exactly a tradition where we let other people take part in. Charles wont be there either.”
Sam’s shoulders slump as he sighs, his lips tightening into a straight line.
“Okay, I get it. I’m not going to step on any toes. But…” Sam looks up at you through his lashes, “make it up to me next weekend?”
You breathe in, then out. It suddenly hits you that…you don’t really want to make it up to him net weekend.
“Sure.”

The Munson household is a busy one this cool, autumn Saturday. Eddie and the guys are in his room getting ready for the night. Their collective laughter and talking over each other is the only thing louder than the volume of the music that they have blaring. Even with the door closed you find it hard to think over the noise.
Wayne and Ben are in the kitchen prepping dinner for everyone before the nights festivities. They were joined by the infamous Hopper and Joyce Byers who brought the food by when they dropped off Will and Jane. The same Jane who was occupying the hall bathroom with you right now.
“They were trying to get you to dress up as one of the guys from Devo?”
Jane nods with an annoyed look. “Yes. They wanted me to wear a stupid red hat. I told them no, and said I wanted to go as Pat Benatar instead. She is my favorite singer.”
“Great choice,” your head bobs in agreement. You take a little more of the blue eye shadow on the tip of your finger and smudge it over her eyelids. “What’s your favorite song?”
“Heartbreaker,” she whispers shyly with a smile.
“That’s a good one! I think We Belong is mine.”
“That one is a good song, too. It’s a love song.”
“Yeah, I guess you could say I’m a sucker for a good love ballad,” you shrug, washing your hands of the make up that stained your fingers. “Now, where is the wig you said you got?”
Jane helped you zip up the back of your dress just as there was a knock on the bathroom door. You pulled the red cloak over your shoulders as she opened it, her dad standing just on the other side of the doorway.
“Jesus, kid, is that enough make up?” He says, his voice raising a distraught octave.
“Oh, look at you!” Joyce pushes past the disgruntled Hopper and into the bathroom. She looks Jane up and down, her excitement a clear contrast to Hoppers.
“You look just like her in those pictures! I’m glad we were able to find this fabric to make this jumper.”
“Joyce, she looks like a—“
“Woah, Pat Benatar!”
Will and Gareth poke their heads around the corner of the door frame, both of them dressed like characters from Star Wars whose names you can’t quite remember.
“Oh, you boys look adorable!” Joyce squeezes Will's cheeks, much to his dismay. Gareth lets out a snicker at will’s expense, only stopping once he’s caught your eye. Then, like usual, he slinks back out of sight.
In his place Mike and Dustin pop up. Dustin is dressed like Darth Vader, his helmet in his hand as they barge into the bathroom. “Are you two ladies ready to go yet?”
“I think so,” you say, quickly clearing up the mess that you’ve made in the Munson bathroom.
“Wow, El, you look badass!” Mike says, putting an arm around her for a side hug.
“Thank you, Mike. She helped.” Jane says, pointing in your direction.
“Oooh, I get it,” Dustin suddenly says as if he’s had an epiphany, eyes narrowing as he looks you up and down.
“Get what?”
“Your’s and Eddie’s couple’s costumes.”
The eye shadow pallet drops from your hands with a loud clutter. “Wh-what are you talking about?”
“What do you mean ‘what am I talking about?’ You and Eddie are going as Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf, right?”
“Well, yeah, but…”
“That’s, like, a classic couples costume!”
“Oh, that’s so sweet!” Joyce says, her hand on her heart as she looks up at Hopper. “Didn’t you and Margaret Sanders go as the wolf and Red Riding Hood to John Collins’ Halloween party one year?”
Jim nods with a big, mustached grin. “Yep.”
“I feel like an asshole.”
Eddie’s voice in the hallway catches your attention. Jim moves out of view, making room for Eddie’s chair as Jeff and Grant follow behind him.
“You sound like one, too,” Jeff laughs from behind him.
Eddie was being his normal grumpy self today. Enough that you were worried that he might call the whole thing off and not go. But, he seemed to manage to push through. Although you worried that the amount of people occupying his house was stressing him out a bit.
As Jeff pushed him past the door, Eddie turned to look inside the overcrowded bathroom. Even with all of the bodies in the way, his eyes were on you in an instant. He didn’t say anything, more so looking at you like a deer caught in headlights until he was completely out of view.
“Foods ready!” Ben calls from the kitchen. Doesn’t take much more convincing than that for everyone to file out of the bathroom and into the kitchen. You take the opportunity to finish putting everything away before joining in the chaos.
Loud chattering fills the kitchen as everyone moves around the table to get their food. When you do come out of the bathroom, you see someone’s already put Eddie in the recliner, his tv tray set up in front of him as he patiently waited for everyone to finish getting their plates.
“Hey stranger,” you say, stealing his attention from whatever daydream he was having.
“Hey,” he said with a tight smile. You eyed him suspiciously.
“What hurts?”
He’s still for a moment, before he sighs and gives you a more genuine smile.
“I’m just having those ghost pains or whatever.” His hand rubs over the clothed end of his thigh where his leg was severed.
Ever since he started physical therapy two weeks ago he’s been complaining of pains in his leg where it's not there anymore. You asked your professor about it, and she said it's not uncommon for amputees to have phantom pains. There’s not much you can do about it other than try to distract the person having them.
“I see. Well, maybe eating something might help. Is anyone getting you a plate?”
Eddie shook his head with a shit eating grin. “I told them that you’d wanna do it.” You rolled your eyes, but he was right.
There was still a weird feeling that resided in you about being there for anything other than being Eddie’s caretaker. Even after two months of Wayne’s warm hospitality, a month of being taken in by the Hellfire boys, and being treated as if you’ve always been around by Joyce and Hopper, you still felt like an outsider looking in.
Tumblr media
People on foot walked by as the cars loaded in through the entry gate of the Hawkins fairgrounds. You were sure that just about everyone in this town was showing up tonight. It made you buzz with excitement to see all the costumes and decked out cars.
“Excited?” Eddie asks you, his eyes darting around at the crowds. There was an indecipherable tone to his voice.
“Of course,” you say, the car moving up a bit to keep up with Hopper's cruiser in line. “Are you?”
“Is Eddie excited about Halloween?” Dustin’s head pops between yours and Eddie’s from the back seat. He slaps his hand on Eddie’s shoulder and gives him a little shake. “Eddie is probably the biggest fan of Halloween I know. He made a whole one shot campaign based on our party trying to escape from Michael Meyers.”
“What? No way, that sounds awesome. Halloween is probably my favorite Halloween movie.”
“It is a classic,” Eddie says with a grin. “Although, I will say that Friday the Thirteenth did freak me out for a while after I saw it for the first time. Still can’t believe that it was his mom the whole time—”
“His mom the whole time?” The two of you say it in unison. You look at each other for a moment before laughing. Dustin makes an audible gagging sound from the back seat and Eddie wastes no time reaching back to swat at him. You shush the both of them as Hopper pulls ahead, making your car next in line.
“Hi, folks,” the older gentleman says, shining a flashlight into the car and almost blinding you. “Hop took care of your cover charge and told me to make sure you guys get the spot next to him.” The man hands you a paper with the number 66 printed on it. It looks like it’s cut in a way that lets it hang from your rear view mirror, most likely to keep track of the amount of cars coming in to participate in the event.
As the man gives you instructions on how to find your spot inside, you cant help but you notice the subtle way he glances to Eddie in the passenger seat. You’re not sure if the man recognizes Eddie or if he’s trying to, but you don’t stick around long enough to find out. Eddie slips on his wolf mask once you take off inside of the fair grounds.
It doesn’t take you long to find your spot. The Hopper-Byers group is all helping out to set everything up for Joyce and Hopper to pass out candy. The back of the cruiser is set up to look like a tent, with a fake fire, a stuffed bear, and a blue blanket meant to be a lake side view.
Dustin pulls Eddie’s chair out from the back seat of your car, helping him out as you pop open your trunk. The effort they put into their theme almost makes you feel self conscious of your trunk, the ‘theme’ looking more like a Halloween store exploded rather than anything cohesive. But then you remember it was put together by Eddie and his friends, and you decide you love it just the way it is.
“All right!” Joyce calls out once your cars are all set up. She sets a plastic bowl in Eddie’s lap and starts pouring candy into it. “Let’s get this party started!”
“Joyce don’t start getting to crazy before the kids get here,” Hops says teasingly as he pulls on his trapper hat. To go with their theme Hop and Joyce are dressed up like campers, which, in hind site, was probably a good call considering how cold the nights have been getting in Hawkins. You were already starting to regret your costume choice as the breeze hit your legs where your dress didn’t cover.
“Isn’t that the point?” Jane asks. “Is she not supposed to scare the kids?”
“Not enough that they wont come around to get candy,” Will retorts.
He’s half paying attention to the conversation as he looks around. Suddenly his hand shoots up, waving and shouting to the Hellfire guys as they walk through the cars. They all gather together and migrate to stand around Eddie, bags and pillowcases out towards him.
“Trick r treat!” They say in a sing song unison, laughter breaking out among them. Eddie’s head drops in the mask, his body shaking as he joins in with the guffaws of his friends.
As you watch them interact, you wonder what faces Eddie is making under the mask. Recently, you’ve felt like you’ve been able to see the real Eddie slip through the cracks. By now you can tell when one of his smiles is fake or genuine, as well as when his anger is real or just out of pain. But, with the plastic mask to hide behind, will he still feel the need to keep himself so reserved tonight?
Tumblr media
It didn’t take long for the night to get going. Spirits were high as children, teens, and adults all made their ways between the cars to fill their bags with candy and other goodies being passed around.
You could admit you were a little nervous when Joyce gave the bowl of candy to Eddie earlier. But, either no one could tell it was him under the wolf mask, or no one cared enough to say anything.
Eddie seemed to be enjoying himself, too. After a while he started to compliment the different costumes in a scary wolf voice, which the kids that came by loved. He even went out of the way to put candy into the trick r treater’s bags, not caring about the scars on his hands being seen.
“Gonna need another refill,” he says to you as the last group of kids move on down the line.
“Roger that,” you say, jumping up to grab another bag of candy from your trunk, pushing the fake spider webs to the side.
Some of the bags slid to the back, so you have to really reach in to get your hands on it. Just as you get a grip on the plastic bag, you feel something pulling on the skirt of your dress. You pinch the plastic of the bag, dragging it out with you as you stand up straight.
Looking over your shoulder, you see that Eddie’s hand is holding on to the hem, pulling it taut over your ass. You’re about to ask what he’s doing when the chuckling from a group of passing boys reaches your ears.
“Thanks,” you say to Eddie, smoothing out the skirt of your dress. His mask looks up at you, and his hand quickly retracts from where it was holding on to you.
“Y-you’re welcome,” he says, voice muffled by the mask.
As you pour more candy into his bowl, a group of three young girls approaches Eddie.
“Trick r treat,” the girls say, holding their bags out for Eddie.
Eddie is still for a moment, grabbing the candy wordlessly and placing it into the girls candy bags. When he gets to the last girl, he hesitates before letting the candy drop inside.
“Where’s your brother, Lady Applejack?” Eddie suddenly says, still using his wolf voice.
The girl's eyes go wide, shifting between her two confused friends before nodding to the side. The two girls move on to Joyce and Hoppers truck, leaving Lady Applejack behind.
“Munson?” She whispers with bemusement. “Is that you under that creepy mask?”
“The one and only,” he says, his hands gesturing wildly to himself.
The girl looks up and down at you, then back to Eddie. “I didn’t know you had a girlfriend.”
You shuffle in your spot awkwardly. You’d gone the whole night with no one saying anything besides Dustin, and you were hoping that it would stay that way.
“We’re not dating,” Eddie says neutrally. “She’s my caregiver.”
“Caregiver? Is that not the same thing as a girlfriend?”
“Basically.” The words spill out of you like vomit. “It’s all the non fun parts of being a girlfriend without any of the perks.” The girl laughs, but Eddie remains still.
“I like her, Munson. You should keep her around.”
“You know, you never answered my question,” Eddie says, clearly desperate to change the subject.
“Huh? Oh, you mean about Lucas?”
Lucas. That was the friend that the boys bring up a lot. He’s a member of Hellfire but hasn’t been to any of the meetings.
“He’s probably still at the hospital with Max. Our parents tried to get him to come out tonight since my mom was the one who put this whole thing together. But…” The girl trails off, looking down at the ground as her attitude fades away. “You know, he still feels guilty. About…what happened.”
Eddie nods slowly. Max was another victim who got out alive like Eddie, but she’s been in a coma since March. Eddie doesn’t talk about her, even if the boys bring her up when talking about Lucas.
“Erica, come on!” One of the girls friend’s call, motioning her to join them.
Erica shifts back into her previous demeanor, looking at you and Eddie once again. “I gotta go. Nice seeing you, Munson and Munson’s girlfriend.” Before Eddie could correct her, she was taking off with her friends.
“Sorry,” Eddie says to you, but refusing to look your way.
“It’s fine. If anything I should be apologizing.” You plop back down in your folding chair with a huff. “Dustin said something earlier about our costumes being a couple’s costume and I’ve been cursing myself for over looking that.”
“Dustin would say something like that,” Eddie grumbles under his breath.
“They’re over here!” Dustin’s voice calls out from a few yards away, his Vader mask in his hand as he motions two people behind him. A guy and a girl dressed as Wham! follow an excited Dustin to your car.
“Speak of the devil,” Eddie says, slumping down in his chair. “And he’s brought his mommy.” You look at Eddie confused. The pair were definitely not old enough to be Dustin’s parents, maybe older siblings at best.
“Dustin, are you sure we’re at the right car?” The girl asks, shooting you a nervous smile.
“Yes, this is the right car. I literally came here in it,” Dustin shook his head and reached into his bag. After fumbling around a bit, he pulled out a full size milky way and presented it to Eddie.
“Snagged this for ya from the Martin’s car,” he said with a toothy grin. Eddie grabbed the candy and examined it and you could feel the smile he had from under his mask.
“Good work, Henderson,” Eddie says, looking up at the boy. Dustin salutes him before standing to the side, looking at the couple behind him with an I told you so expression.
“Holy shit,” the guy says, his law slack.
“Is that really you, M—” The girl cuts herself off before she can finish. The two move closer to Eddie, speaking in hushed tones.
“How’re you doing? Dustin told us that him and Mike have been over to your new place,” the girl asks. You don’t know why, but the way her hand rests on his shoulder irritates you.
“Yeah, he told us the lab set you up with a really nice house. Still not enough after what we all went through in my opinion..”
“Steve,” the girl cuts him off sharply.
“What? We haven’t seen the guy in six months! Am I not supposed to talk about it?”
“It’s fine, Robin,” Eddie says.
“It’s not fine,” you interject. All eyes are on you now, stunned as if they just noticed you were there.
“S-sorry, we didn’t mean to leave you out,” the girl stutters.
“Yeah, uh…” Steve looks you up and down before straightening his posture. “You must be the caretaker that Dustin’s told us about. Name’s Steve. Steve Harrington.”
Steve Harrington stands in front of you, offering his hand for you to shake. You take his hand and introduce yourself. Steve Harrington is handsome in a similar way to Sam you think.
The feeling of eyes on you makes you turn your head. The light catches just right you can sort of make out Eddie’s eyes through the holes of the mask.
“What did you say?” You ask, looking back up to Steve after zoning his question out.
“I just asked if you were free sometime. Maybe we could get a bite to eat before you go over to Eddie’s some time?”
“Oh, sorry,” the words poured out of you again. “But I’m seeing someone.”
You’re not sure if it’s just you, but it suddenly felt like the air got thicker. You could feel Eddie’s eyes bore holes into you, but you couldn’t bring yourself to look at him.
“Shit, my bad,” Steve says, taking a step back. “I thought Dustin said you two weren’t together.”
“We’re not,” Eddie says in a clipped tone.
“Yeah, we’re not, Eddie and I. I’m, uh, I’m seeing a guy from my school. Sam…”
“Ohhhh, okay,” Steve nods, “Gotcha. Well, if things don’t work out—OW!”
“Take a hint, dingus!” Robin whisper yells at Steve. She looks back to Eddie with an apologetic look. “We should probably go, but call one of us some time and we’ll sneak some movies to you, okay?”
Eddie wordlessly nods, his focus on the bowl of candy in his lap now. Steve and Robin give their goodbyes and move along, bickering between themselves as they go. Dustin lingers with you and Eddie for a moment, unsure of what to do with himself.
“Do, uh…"Dustin clears his throat, attempting to lighten the mood. "Do you guys want to go check out the fair at all?” Dustin points with his thumb over his shoulder. “There’s some pretty cool stuff at the back. A haunted house, some games…you know, fun stuff. I’ll, uh, sit and watch the candy.”
You look over to Eddie waiting for his response. After several moments Eddie finally nods, lifting the plastic bowl and handing it to Dustin. You rise from your seat, moving out of the way so Dustin to take your spot.
When you turn to see if Eddie is ready to go, you find that he’s not there. Instant panic sets in, as you look out to the crowd to find him. For a split second, you can see the furry hair on the back of his mask a few cars away. Bobbing and weaving through the clusters of people, you grab the handles of his chair and stop him, making him jerk forward.
He looks back, body tense until he realizes it’s you, his shoulders slumping forward.
“Where did you think you were going?” Anger evident in your tone.
“What do you mean? I thought you were right behind me.” The cutting tone of his voice hits a nerve.
“Eddie, I…” You can feel a whole lecture on the tip of your tongue. But the more you think about it, the more you realize that Eddie is his own person. As much as you’ve grown to want to protect him, he probably knows more about these fairgrounds and all of these people than you’ll ever know. He was a fully functioning person seven months ago, not needing anyone’s assistance just to get through a crowd of people.
“Do…do you want me to leave you alone?”
The two of you stand in the middle of the moving bodies without a word. It feels like the two of you are in slow motion as people move past you.
Eddie sits up, shaking his head. “No.”
That’s all you needed to hear. Grabbing onto the handles of his chair, you push him through the crowd at a leisurely pace. It takes a few minutes for hm to say something, but the paper mache ghost from Ghost Busters hanging off of a cars trunk catches his attention.
“Woah, that’s awesome!” Eddie points it out to you.
“Do you think they made that?”
“I bet they got it at a Halloween store.”
Conversation flowed like that between you as you both rated the cars out of 10 as you passed. There were more cars like yours that decorated just enough to be passable, but a good majority of the citizens of Hawkins really do mean business when it comes to Halloween.
“They made their car look like a dragon!” Eddie shouts over his shoulder to you. “How is that not the best car?!”
“It’s totally an awesome car, but, I’m sorry, the literal hearse with a guy dressed as Dracula in a coffin was hands down the best.”
Eddie slumps back in his chair in frustration, his mask looking up at you dramatically while you push him. You smile down at him, happy to see him having so much fun. He jerks forward and clears his throat, mask moving quickly as if he’s looking for something.
“Oh, look they’re selling popcorn,” Eddie nods to a booth set up off to the side of the cars. It looks like a girl scouts group of some kind, all the girls at the booth wearing patch covered sashes over their costumes. The sign on the booth read “Twenty-five cent popcorn. Proceeds go to Hawkins Rebuild Fund.”
“Hmmm,” you hum curiously. “We should get some. I could use something salty to cleanse my palate from all the candy.”
“Yeah, I think I might puke if I even think about a Reese’s Cup right now.”
You grab a bottle of water and a bag of popcorn to split between the two of you. Not wanting to stop your perusing of the cars, you continued on with Eddie popping a piece under his mask for him and then lifting a few pieces up to your mouth for you to much on.
Continuing on, you finally reach the back end of the fairgrounds. A few fires were going with groups of people gathered around. They talked over cider or roasted marshmallows to shove between graham crackers, adding their favorite candy pieces to complete their sweet treats.
A few games were set up. Kids and tipsy grown men bobbed for apples in a big trough of water. A partially enclosed area was set up for smaller kids and their exhausted parents to take a break away from the older kids.
But in the very back was a make shift haunted house, it’s entrance painted to look as if you were walking into a large jack o lantern. Around it were several tarps meant to cover whatever the haunted house was put together with, various paper decorations taped to it to make it look more festive.
“We should go in there,” Eddie says excitedly. “Wonder if it’s dark enough I can take this mask off for a bit.”
“I don’t know Eddie…” you say hesitantly. You weren’t the biggest fan of haunted houses. Being scared from a movie is one thing, but the lack of control you could have in a haunted house made you uncomfortable.
You also never knew what was going to set you off. The last haunted house you went to with Tonya and some friends in high school was set up to look like an actual house. It didn’t really bother you until one of the actors snuck up behind you, whispering in your ear. It immediately took you back to…
“Awe, come on. Don’t tell me you’re scared?” Eddie teases. “I doubt that Hawkins could make an actually scary haunted house. I bet they have one of those rooms where they make you feel peeled grapes and tell you that it’s eyeballs.”
“I’m not scared,” you say with a level tone, “I’m more worried about you. What if you have a night terror and end up needing me to sit at the end while you sleep tonight?”
Eddie freezes, his eyes wide and looking into yours through the holes in the mask. You feel like you said something wrong, but you’re not sure what.
“I-I’m sorry, I didn’t—”
Eddie starts to laugh, clearly trying to get a rise out of you. It both relieves and pisses you off.
“Eddie, you’re such an asshole! I thought I hurt your feelings!”
“You did, little red,” he feigns offense, his hands resting over his heart. “I can’t believe you would make fun of me. I’m wounded. How will you ever make it up to me?”
“Oh my god,” you say with exasperation. “I’m so sorry Mr.Wolf. I guess I can be brave and take you through the haunted house if that will suffice.”
Eddie fake sniffled and nods. “Yes, I think I may be able to forgive and forget your offense if you lend me your company inside this estate.”
The two of you get in line, chatting for the few minutes it takes to get to the front. When it’s finally your turn, the lanky teen at the door looked down at Eddie.
“Uh, be careful with your chair, man. Should be good, but, uh, there might be some bumps between the rooms. That alright?”
Eddie nods and the boy ushers the two of you inside. It looks like the haunted house might be made of several sheds or storage units placed together to make a long string of rooms. A lot of the rooms were more silly than scary, but a few people dressed in costumes were able to get some scares out of you and Eddie.
Well, you more than Eddie.
You hadn’t even realized that you were leaning so close to him. It was a reflex to bury your face against him when you got scared, laughing the whole time as you pushed on to the next room. He didn’t seem to mind, probably too busy laughing at your reactions to care.
You wondered if the actors were talking with each other, because it felt like more people were trying to scare you the further into the haunt you went. By the end you were practically strangling Eddie, your arms wrapped around his shoulders  with your face against the back of his neck as he guided you both through the exit that exited to the other side of the fairground lot.
“They were so mean!” The words came out in strained huffs as you tried to catch your breath, still laughing from all the nerves. Eddie probably would have been keeled over with how hard he was cackling. He lifted his mask briefly to wipe the tears from his eyes, his hair sticking to his forehead with how much he was sweating under the plastic.
“Holy shit,” he barks out. “That was sooooo worth it. I want to see how bad you get scared in a haunted house that’s actually scary.”
“I can’t believe you’d want to put me through that after everything I’ve done for you,” you say with faux offense.
“Can’t help it,” he says with a shrug, “I guess I’m a bit of a sadist.”
“Hmmm why does that not at all surprise me.”
Tumblr media
The rest of the night went on without a hitch. The guys showed up again eventually, making base between yours and Hopper’s car to trade candy. Jane told you that she got lots of compliments on her costume and thanked you over and over for helping her with her make up. Joyce took the opportunity to get everyone together to take pictures. Apparently Will’s older brother, Jonathan, left one of his cameras with them to take pictures while he’s off at college and Joyce took that task very seriously.
“Let me get one with the two of you!” She says to you and Eddie. Eddie looks at you and you shrug.
“Do you want to lean on me?” You ask him.
“What do you mean?”
“So you can have a picture not in your chair. I can hold you up--oh we can make it look like you’re trying to eat me?”
Eddie stands, leaning against you as you have your arms around him in a tight hug. Joyce takes a few steps forward to get his chair out of frame, giving you both the go ahead to make a pose. Eddie lets go of you, posing with his hands as if he was about to grab you, the mouth of his mask about an inch from your face. You hold on to him with one arm, letting him lean into you as you let your other hand fly back with fake terror.
The bright flash from the camera has you grabbing Eddie fully once again. You were able to feel his leg wobbling, still not used to holding up his whole weight. Eddie plopped back into his chair, letting out the breath he had been holding.
After a while the festivities began to wind down as cars started making their exit. When Eddie’s back started to hurt from being in his chair for so long, you decided to join the rest of the crowd and leave. Dustin helped load Eddie up in the car as you cleaned up any mess that had been made.
“Dustin, why don’t you ride with us?” Joyce calls over from their car. “Eddie’s probably tired and ready to get home. You’re staying at the Wheeler’s anyway, right?”
Dustin looks at Eddie, whose mask was up enough to let his face breathe, to you, who looked like you were ready to climb into bed and pass out. Gears turned under those tight curls. A vision of the two of you “accidentally” falling asleep in each others arms on the couch and waking up all embarrassed, until you inevitably confess your feelings for each other and get married and grow old together was clear as day in his mind.
“Yeah, sounds good. Thanks Mrs.B.”
Tumblr media
“Do you even want to attempt a shower?” You ask Eddie with a yawn, eyeing his devil faced pumpkin that the two of you carved that sits next to the front door.
“I feel gross after sweating in that mask,” he yawns in reaction to your yawn, fumbling to get his keys in the lock. “But, honestly, I’ll probably fall asleep sitting in there.”
Eddie pushed the door open, and wheels inside. You can barely get a foot in the front door when Eddie stops abruptly. You follow his gaze to the couch, and are surprised to see Ben leaning against Wayne. His head rests on Wayne’s shoulder, Wayne’s bald head lays against Ben’s head as the two of them snore intermittently.
Eddie turns slowly back towards you with wide eyes. You place your finger against your lips, giving him a silent shush as you slowly maneuver his chair to his room. Eddie doesn’t say a word, even after you close the door to his room. He’s as pale as a ghost, still looking as you as if he was waiting for you do to…something.
“What’s wrong?” You ask him, and he flinches. He finally blinks when he realizes that you’re not going to say anything, tension leaving his body until he’s visibly exhausted.
“Nothing, I just…ugh I really need to shower. But I’m so tired.” He sprawls out in his chair, hands running over his face and through his matter hair. The icky feeling of being outside and around people begins to make your skin crawl, too, as you feel a shower calling your name.
“Well, the longer we wait, the more tired you’re going to be. Let’s get you in there so I can go home and take one, too.” Eddie perks up, looking at you with knitted brows.
“You’re not staying the night?”
“Well, my sleeping spot is currently being occupied,” you say with a cheeky grin, nodding toward the living room.
Eddie presses his lips together, deep in thought as he tries to come up with an solution so you don’t have to make the 30 minute trek home.
“You could…sleep in my bed? I could sleep in Wayne’s room. If the love birds wake up, they’ll just have to deal with it.”
Thinking about sleeping in Eddie’s bed makes your chest flutter in a way that you hate. Well, rather, you want to hate it. But you really don’t. The idea of being in his bed with him penetrates your mind, and you think of anything else to push it away. Like how you’d finally told him about Sam earlier in the night. You still needed to psycho analyze his reaction to the news, which was how you usually passed the time in the car.
“I’ll think about it.” Eddie nods, accepting that as your answer for now.
You set up the shower for Eddie, hardly a word between the two of you with the combined low energy. You quietly snuck Eddie’s dirty clothes into the laundry room as he showered, taking a few minutes to pick up the kitchen in hopes to lessen the work load for Wayne tomorrow.
When you returned to the shower, Eddie had just turned off the water. He was humming a song to himself, probably to keep himself awake as he went through the motions of his shower.
He pulled the curtain open, and slowly blinked at you. You understood his message, taking the few steps to stand beside him. You went through your drying routine, getting his back and gently squeezing and scrunching his curls in a towel to dry them. There was no way he would be able to blow dry them tonight so you just took your time getting them as dry as possible. Eddie would start to doze off until the resistance of his hair pulling would wake him again.
The two of you got into position for Eddie to stand and pivot into the chair. You held on to him, and he held onto his towel, waiting for your count to stand. A quiet one, two, three had him pushing off of the shower seat with his leg.
But he was still tired, and he began to lose his balance. One hand shot to hold your arm, and the other grabbed the bar attached to the wall. You felt his body starting to go down and reflexively turned him towards his chair. His grip on the wall threw you off, causing you to fall into him when he finally let go and landed in his chair.
You braced yourself against the arm rests as the floor was slick under you. The top half of your body was pressed into his, mimicking the closeness of an hug. When you went to pull away, you felt his grip on your arm tighten.
“Don’t move.” He says next to your ear.
“What?”
“My towel fell.”
You snort, resting your forehead against his shoulder, wet curls pressing into your skin. “Why do you have such a hard time keeping a towel on?”
Ever since the first shower where he almost lost his towel, at least once a week his towel seems to find its way out of Eddie’s hands and onto the floor.
To Eddie’s defense, it was hard for him to maintain his grip, and you couldn’t hold him up and keep his towel in place, so it was something you’d become accustomed to. If he could feel his towel slipping Eddie would usually give you a heads up so you could keep your eyes above belt level.
After a beat you can feel Eddie’s smile against your cheek. “Only around you,” he says with a sarcastic tone. You suck in a breath, and hope he can’t feel the heat that rises to your cheeks at his playful comment.
“I’m starting to think you do it on purpose.”
Eddie shakes his head. “If you close your eyes and move, I can reach the towel myself.”
“Okay,” you say, positioning your feet so you can stand up straight.
As you move your foot back, it bumps against something and catches you off guard. Reflexively, you open your eyes to look back and move your foot accordingly. Once you find your footing again, you shift to face forward once again. But, in your sleepy haze, you forget a crucial move; closing your eyes again.
Still looking down, your eyes manage to land directly where they’re not supposed to.
It was like a car crash. You knew you shouldn’t gawk, but the site of Eddie’s dick as it lay against his leg had you frozen in place. It was long, reaching half way down his hairy thigh, and thick. What made it worse was that he looked half hard; whether on it’s way to full mast or starting to soften you couldn’t be certain.
Suddenly you became very aware at how revealing your costume was and how close your body had just been against his. Hell, you’d been touching and leaning against each other all night. Was he like this because of you? Surely not. You scold yourself for even thinking about it.
Regaining your composure, you push away from his chair and get your footing. You snap your eyes closed so quickly, hoping that he didn’t notice that you were looking. It felt like you had been staring for an eternity, the image of it seemingly tattooed into your corneas even as your eyes were closed, but in reality it was no more than a second.
Even if you had seen it, you’d assured him plenty of times before that it wouldn’t be the first dick you’ve ever seen and it wouldn’t be the last with the field of work you were going into. But you also respected his privacy, maybe understanding a little more as to why he didn’t want you to see. If he said anything, you wouldn't make a big deal about it.
“Okay, you’re in the clear,” he says, his voice not giving any hint to if he knows what you saw. You open your eyes as he’s backing away and back into his room to get dressed, leaving you to clean up. Which you do quietly, willing Eddie’s dick out of your mind but failing as you pick up.
By the time you joined him in his bedroom, he was still in his chair, fully dressed and his head nodding forward as he tried to fight off sleep.
“Ready to get in bed?” You ask him in a low voice so not to startle him.
He looks up at you drowsily, “Are you gonna stay the night?” You shake your head and his pouts up at you.
“I’m sorry, Eddie. I’ll be okay getting home. I’m…feeling very awake now.”
And you head plenty to think about on the drive home. It didn’t feel long enough to analyze everything, your thoughts spilling over as you stare up at your ceiling fan in bed.

Mike has feelings for you (fluff)
Tumblr media
Prompt: During a family get together, your best friend Mike reveals that he has feelings for you
Pairing: Mike Schmidt x Reader
---
The front door slammed shut behind Abby, who was outside playing with a few kids from the neighborhood. Your best friend was standing in the doorway of the living room, leaning against the door frame.
“Do you want to come tonight?” you ask him.
He walks over to where you're standing and wraps his arms around you, pulling you into a tight hug.
“Do I want to come where?”
“To my grandparents for dinner. It’s Sunday.”
Every Sunday, you had dinner with your extended family. Your dad’s side of the family was large and everyone was close. Mike and Abby used to come most Sunday’s but once Mike had gotten a job as a security officer at the mall, he had to work most Sunday’s. Every now and then Abby would join you but it had been a while since either of them had come.
You enjoyed it when they both came and Mike liked to see Abby having fun with kids her own age. Abby went to school with a few of your younger cousins and she enjoyed playing with them.
“Yea, we can come,” Mike answers.
----
The large house was filled with your family as you, Mike, and Abby walk inside. Instantly your younger cousins spot Abby and pull her away to go play with them in the basement. Mike laces his fingers with yours as you guide him to the kitchen where you mom, grandmother, and aunt are gathered.
They all greet you and Mike and you don’t miss the glance of your mothers eyes as she looks down at yours and Mike’s hands still laced together.
Mike and you had been best friends since elementary school and she always said that one day you and Mike would get married. You were constantly telling her no that would never happen but over the years, your feelings for Mike had changed. When you once had seen him as your best friend, you now had fallen in love with him. You weren’t sure when your feelings had changed but they had never disappeared. The two of you were always touching each other but it had always been platonic.
“Come on,” you say and lead Mike into the living room, where the majority of your family is.
The two of you are greeted by everyone and it seems as if a few people are more excited to see Mike than they are to see you. Your family had always loved Mike and were always telling you to bring him with you when you visited.
~~
After dinner was done, you and Mike went your separate ways for a bit. He went into the living room to watch football while you helped clear the table and wash the dishes.
“So when are you and Mike going to make it official?” your cousin, Lacy, asks you.
You let out a laugh at her question. “Um never.”
Lacy shakes her head, disappointed by your answer. “It’s going to happen.”
“What makes you say that?”
“Did you not see the way he was looking at you all through dinner? Damn, if I had someone that looked at me like that, I would never let him go!”
“He did not look at me the whole time,” you counter.
“He did! Whenever you were talking, he was looking across the table at you and whenever you laughed, his eyes lit up. That boy is completely in love with you.”
You look across the room at your best friend, who is currently mesmerized by the large tv screen. He must feel you looking because his brown eyes meet yours and gives you a soft smile.
Lacy notices the interaction and whispers, “I told you,” before turning back to load the dishwasher.
When the table is all cleared, you stay in the kitchen talking to your mom, grandmother, Lacy, and a few aunts. Occasionally you glance over at Mike to make sure he is doing is ok. Abby has been in the basement with your cousins and you know that she is not going to want to leave. Hopefully the two of them can come over most Sundays. It was a good way to get the two of them (especially Mike) out of their house.
Two strong hands grip your shoulders and turn around to see Mike standing behind you.
“Hey,” you greet him.
“Hi,” he says, smiling. “Just wanted to check in with you and see how you’re doing.”
He squeezes your shoulders while he talks to your aunts.
When the conversation grows quiet, you stand up from the table. “Want to go outside?” you ask him quietly.
You loved hanging out with your family but after a while, you needed a few minutes to yourself.
“Yea.”
Mike follows you out the front door and onto the large wrap around porch. You place your hands on the railing and look out across the large yard. A short distance away is a small pond with a dock. During the summer, the pond was home to a family of ducks and you have memories of sitting at the water's edge watching the ducklings swim across the pond.
Mike stands next to you, his fingers grazing yours. “My family keeps telling me how glad they are that you and Abby came,” you tell him.
Mike smiles. “I’m glad we came too.”
Its silent for a few moments and a cool breeze blows, causing goosebumps to scatter across your skin. You let out a small shiver and Mike instantly notices. He pulls off his black hoodie and hands it to you without saying a word. You pull the sweatshirt on and Mike takes a step towards you. He moves behind you and pulls you against him, his arms wrapping around your stomach.
His body heat makes you instantly warm and you lean your back against him, relaxing your body.
“So I was talking to Lacy,” he begins.
“Oh god. What did she have to say?”
If it was anything like the conversation you had with your, youre not sure you want to hear what he has to say.
“She kept asking," So when are you and Y/N going to be official?” he tells you.
You let out a laugh and bury your face in your hands. “I had a very similar conversation with her.”
Mike laughs. “Did you?”
“Yes! She was like ‘Mike’s into you. He couldn’t take his eyes of you during dinner, blah blah blah.’”
Mike sighs. “Well she's not wrong,” he says, quietly.
You're surprised by Mike’s comment. You turn around and look at him. He doesn’t loosen his grip around your waist as his brown eyes bore into yours.
“What are you saying?” you ask him.
Mike moves his hand up to your cheek and gently pushes a few strands of hair behind your ear. A slight blush reddens your cheek from his gesture.
“I’m 100% into you,” he says.
“W-what?”
“I’m into you,” he says, slowly.
Instead of saying anything in return, you stand on your tiptoes and press your lips against his. He tastes like the beer that he had drunk earlier as his lips move against yours.
After a few moments, Mike pulls away but presses his forehead against yours.
“What if we keep this between us for a few days?” he says.
You think about his offer for a minute. “Just a few days,” you respond before pressing your lips back to his.

Steddie Upside-Down AU Part 94
Part 1 Part 93
Will can’t tear his gaze away from Steve. Even as Carol flutters around him, frantic and worried, and Eddie just cries.
Will’s shivering. Mom’s rubbing her hands up and down his arms in quick movements, like she can warm him up. But he is warm. The Harrington’s water heater’s working as good as advertised; the bathroom’s downright sweltering.
He’s just shaking.
“We should get him to the hospital,” Barbara says, crouching down beside Steve and settling her fingers against his pulse. She looks over at Eddie, grimacing, “Probably get all of us looked at.”
Eddie’s sopping wet and bloody, cheekbone swelling, and he’s sitting hunched strangely like something inside him aches. Perkins is similarly scuffed up and bruised, if less bloody. Collectively, they look like a group of disaster victims that barely managed to crawl their way out of the rubble.
Eddie pulls Steve further into himself, hauling himself up with a painful-sounding grunt, Steve cradled in his arms.
Mom lets go of Will, rushing forward to flutter her hands around him. “You shouldn’t be holding him, sweetie,” she cries. “You’re hurt.”
Eddie’s already listing to the side, nearly falling back into the tub until Barbara curls her own arms around Steve, hefting him up.
“I’ve got him,” Eddie says, but he doesn’t pull away.
“You’re three seconds away from keeling over dead,” Carols scoffs, leading the way out of the bathroom with sloshing footsteps.
Eddie and Barbara shuffle after her, awkward like they’re hauling an old couch out to make room for a new one. They luckily fit side by side on the stairs, but Carol still walks in front of them, hands raised to catch anyone who tumbles, somehow maneuvering each backward step with ease.
Mom and Will hold up the rear, taking awkward stilted steps to try to stay out of anyone’s way at the slow pace.
The house is lit, fluorescent and quiet, and warm against his cooling skin from the heat Carol had clicked on when they’d arrived. He feels like an ant walking through its opulent, barren rooms, leaving wet, muddy tracks into its pristine carpet.
The gulf between him and Steve seems like a trench. It’s hard to imagine Steve here, small and alone in his nice clean sneakers and his clean, fresh clothes. Everything’s so white, any careless movement could leave a smudge. Will’s house is a second-hand storage bin.
But then again, Steve had left this house hadn’t he? He’d made himself as at home in the Munson’s trailer as Uncle Wayne’s recliner or Eddie’s guitar.
Will’s throat hurts when he swallows, like that time he’d gotten strep and hadn’t been able to go to school for a whole week. He raises his fingers to the tender flesh, feels them like Steve’s hand around his throat.
He wants his Mom, even with her standing right there. He wants Steve even though he’s passed out in front of him and it was his hands–
No. He can’t think like that. He can’t.
The house is the graveyard of Steve’s life. Had he toddled down these stairs as a teenager? Settled onto that couch as a teenager? Hosted parties in that kitchen? It’s hard to picture the rooms full of people, even when he knows it's true.
The rumors of his parties had trickled down even to the middle school.
But it’s so quiet now. Too quiet.
“Mike?” Will calls as they stagger their way into the living room.
No one answers.
“Kids?” Mom calls, rushing around where Barbara and Eddie are clogging up the living room. “Where are you?”
She frantically searches the living room, then kitchen, then opens doors at random, calling through the house for no one who can hear her. Will can almost hear his own disappearance echoing through her desperate words. “Where did they go?” she cries as she dashes back into the living room, eyes frantic and wide.
Barbara snorts. “Doing something stupid would be my guess.” She adjusts her hold on Steve, doing a little jump to shimmy him back up into her arms from where he’d been slipping.
Will bolts out of the house, ignoring everyone’s calls in his mad dash to the van. Harrington's security light turns on, blanketing him in sharp light, briefly blinding him before his eyes adjust.
Max’s step-brother’s car is gone, the only proof that he was ever there a splash of blood on concrete.
The van’s gone too.
Will fishes his walkie talkie out of his pocket, hands fumbling with wet jeans. It’s damp when he pries it free. He wipes it off on his partially dry shirt and compresses the button with baited breath, sighing in relief when the tell-tale crackle of an open line filters through.
His voice is breathless and croaking as he asks, “where are you, are you okay?” all in one breath, finishing with a quick, “over.”
It’s Lucas who replies. “Did it work?”
“He’s back,” Will replies, choking on tears he didn’t realize were flowing.
It’s silent for a moment before Mike’s voice comes through. “What about El?”
Will’s gut churns, throat clicking as he says, “We don’t know yet,” he turns back toward the house, noticing for the first time that the garage door is open, shelves ransacked, odds and ends tossed haphazardly all over the floor. “We have to get Steve to the hospital; did you take the van?”
Everyone else is shuffling out of the house, cries of dismay and alarm coming from them all as they take in the lack of transportation. Barbara asks, “should we call an ambulance?” as she stares dubiously at all of them, frowning at their bedraggled states.
Before anyone can reply, there’s the murmur of too-many voices for the walkie to pick up before Dustin’s voice cuts through it with a vehement “shit,” Max’s own shouted “we’re almost back!” barely intelligible, like she was speaking from too-far away.
“Who’s driving?” Mom cries, running up to Will and looking down at the walkie clutched in his hand like it’ll open its mouth and answer her questions despite the button not even being compressed.
It doesn’t matter – the van comes careening around the corner, and onto the street too fast. It takes the turn into the driveway too wide, running over the Harrington’s perfectly cultivated rose bushes before it screeches to a stop alarmingly close to their fleshy bodies.
Carol laughs when she catches sight of Max sitting in the driver’s seat, looking out at all of them like she belongs there. “I like you, red,” she calls, even as she opens the driver’s side door and shoves her out of the way despite her protests. “You’ve got guts.”
Dustin wrenches the door open, eyes widening as he catches sight of Steve. “What the hell happened to you guys?”
Barbara bullies her way past him, losing her footing and her grip on Steve enough that his head thuds alarmingly into the hard floor of the van despite Eddie’s fumbling to help. They all end up sprawling, Eddie on the van’s ground, Barbara only partially in, feet dangling awkwardly out the open door.
“Be careful,” Eddie snarls, glaring up at where she stands. She doesn’t spare him a glance as she helps get Steve fully into the van. Eddie pulls Steve away from her, almost growling. It’s incongruent with the picture he paints as places Steve’s head gently in his own lap, smoothing his wet hair back from his face.
Barbara ignores the whole thing, moving past them all to claim the passenger seat, brushing past where Max is still crouched by the driver’s seat. Barbara settles into the seat like she owns it, foot up on the dash, knee bent as she turns to lock gazes with Carol.
Dustin’s hovering by Steve and Eddie, hands flitting around like he wants to touch but can’t figure out where it won't hurt anyone further.
Mike and Lucas both stay seated, looking down at Steve with furrowed brows. “Is he going to be okay?” Lucas asks. No one answers because no one knows.
“How’d you even start it?” Carol asks Max, fiddling with the trailing wires Eddie’d used to spark the thing to life.
Max snorts derisively and crosses her arms, dropping to sit criss cross on her butt. “You morons never cut the engine.”
“Enough!” Mom yells, brushing Will’s shoulders gently and easing him forward until he has no choice but to crawl into the van himself. She climbs in beside him, shutting the door with a slam that makes everyone jump. “Carol, dear? Drive.”
She does, pulling out of the driveway with only slightly less reckless abandon than Max used to enter it.
It’s quiet as the van trundles down the road, save for Eddie’s quiet, unintelligible murmuring in Steve’s ears. His ribs must hurt with the way he’s hunched over Steve, but he doesn’t seem to mind. Will stays where he is, sitting on his hands even as he feels Eddie’s gentle pulling, like he needs to know that Will’s still there.
“Did we turn off the water?” Carol asks, cutting through the tension with relaxed ease.
Barbara snorts, “Did we close the front door?”
Will pictures that empty dollhouse with its absent family. He pictures it filling with water, like a fishbowl, like the Titanic. A shrine to all the cruelties that happened there.
“Do we care?” Will asks. Steve’s face looks peaceful in sleep. Almost serene the way it never is when he’s awake.
Carol laughs, manic as she speeds up, van bumping along the road at reckless speeds. “We do not,” she calls vindictively before laughing again.
Will doesn’t take his eyes off Steve.

Hi there :) If you’re still taking requests, could I request a one-sided “rivals” to lovers type of fic with Eddie where he becomes jealous of the reader who started a club with Dustin, Mike, and Lucas back when she used to babysit them? She’s back from college for the summer and Eddie gets all dramatic about the kids “cheating” on him and gushing about how fun their club is so he spends his time whining about it to Steve at Family Video and convinces him that they have to crash a meeting to regain custody but once he sees the reader he falls head over heels immediately. I hope you have a good rest of your day!
I'm so sorry this took so long, but I haven't written that much due to work and stuff, and I started this... weeks ago, but I am finally finished. Because I just love this idea so much, so I hope I hit the right mark with this and you enjoy what I came up with 💖💖
Requests are open | prompt lists for inspiration | Stranger Things Masterlist

Let Your Passion Set the World on Fire
“Congratulations, you’ve really managed it this time!” Eddie said with a grin, leaning back in his throne, looking over the table in front of him while the others celebrated their victory. This campaign had been so much fun, and the club had enjoyed it as well, especially because they had defeated him. School was over (for Eddie completely), the summer lay ahead, and they had had their last session before they would resume in the new school year, because even though Eddie wasn’t a student anymore, Hellfire would still be there, and he’d make time for it. Sure, he’d said that he would get out of Hawkins, but there were now a couple of reasons for him to stay. At least until he figured out what he wanted to do.
The summer was for earning money in Eddie’s case, playing a couple of shows with Corroded Coffin and relaxing a little bit. And the boys should go out and have fun as well, and not spend their whole time inside, right? Yeah, not really, as Eddie was about to find out.
“That was really good training for the summer,” Mike said, grinning at Dustin. Will nodded along straight away.
“I can’t wait to see what she comes up with. It’s been quite a while,” Lucas agreed, leaning back in his chair, a smile spreading on his lips.
“What are you talking about?” Eddie looked at all of them, one after another, because that had certainly caught his interest. Who were they talking about and what. He had an inkling that he knew what it was about, but he had to be sure.
“Ohh, you remember y/n?” Dustin immediately said, looking up at Eddie, a brilliant smile on his lips. “The one we used to play D&D with? My old babysitter?”
“Our old babysitter,” Will made it clear, and it was obvious that all of them still adored you.
“Yeah, you mentioned her once or twice.” Or pretty much every other week, which had annoyed Eddie at first, but once they’d started with their campaigns, it had died down a bit. But of course, the boys had told him how much they’d enjoyed your campaigns, that you’d really gotten them into it in the first place. That they were glad that they had Hellfire now with Eddie and the others, because it was even more fun like this. But still, he’d been curious about you, and yes, even a little jealous when he heard them gush about you and your campaigns. Oh, he knew that his campaigns were awesome, hard to beat, but still… there was this little nagging feeling whenever they mentioned your name.
“She’s coming home for the summer,” Mike spoke up again, gathering his dice from the table so they could start putting everything away.
“And she already said that she’s got a pretty epic campaign for us!” Lucas' eyes lit up when he said that.
“And when she says epic, she means epic!” Dustin winked at Eddie, followed his words up with a chuckle.
“So… you’re abandoning Hellfire for a girl. Nice one!” Eddie rolled his eyes and got up from his throne. Clearly, he didn’t have his emotions under control right now, and he was completely overreacting, but he was already a bit… touchy because of not going to school anymore and spending most of the time with the boys - if he attended his lessons that was. Life was about to change, and he didn’t know whether he was ready for it or not.
“What are you talking about? I thought Hellfire was on break for the summer?” Mike scowled at Eddie, watching him pack up his stuff in record time. Usually, Eddie took his time, made jokes with the others, but right now, it felt like he wanted to get out as quickly as possible.
“Yeah, didn’t we want to resume when school started again?” Will watched Eddie, picking up on the slump in his shoulders, the way his lips were pressed together.
“Yeah we did,” Eddie eventually said, taking his bag, before he looked back at them. “You’re right. Hellfire will be back when school starts again.” Even if he wanted to, he didn’t have a full-fledged campaign anyway, so they needed that break. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, gentlemen, I have places to be, businesses to attend.” And with businesses, he meant turning up the newest Metallica album as loud as possible while he lay on his bed and stuck his nose in a book.

It was nice to come back home after your first year of University. You’d been home before, sure, but the summer break gave you an opportunity to really relax and catch up with old friends - and that included the kids you babysat back in the day. You’d been in contact especially with Dustin all the time, and when you’d told him that you’d come home for the summer, he’d been more than excited about this, immediately asking you about your plans. With a grin, you’d told him over the phone that you’d prepared a campaign for them, if they were interested.
“Are you kidding? We’re so in!”
You’d always loved his enthusiasm, and that had shown again once you stood in front of him and he hugged you. He’d grown quite a bit since you’d last seen him, but to you, he’d always be the little curly haired boy that you’d read good night stories to. Dustin had been the first one you’d babysat, and then it had kind of become a group thing when you’d started playing D&D with them, when you’d made campaigns for them. Finally, someone who’d enjoyed it just as much as you.
It hadn’t been the same at University, mainly because you really hadn’t had the time for it, to find a new group, when you should actually do stuff for your courses, start painting again and get your assignments ready. But in the background, you’d worked on this campaign to surprise the boys with it.
Of course, they’d told you about Hellfire, had gushed about Eddie and his campaigns, and you’d listened with excitement. Because you had been happy for them. Having Will move halfway across the country hadn’t been easy on them, so Eddie had been able to distract them a little. Luckily, Will was back home, among his friends, where he belonged, so you had the whole gang for the summer. You couldn’t be happier.
You remembered Eddie vaguely, had heard his name, but you’d never really crossed paths, but from everything Dustin had told you, he seemed like a pretty cool guy.
“You know he can join, right? If he wants to,” you told Dustin once more when you set up the table in his basement, taking everything you’d need out of your bag. God, you’d spent so many hours down here, it almost felt like a second home to you.
“Yeah, but he’s always our DM.” Dustin watched you intently, trying to get a hint at what you were coming up with. Maybe, he could get a glimpse at your notes somehow, but you kept them close to you. No peeking!
“Even a DM just wants to be a player sometimes,” you reminded him. While you enjoyed leading campaigns, you didn’t back away from participating in one every now and then. You still remembered Mike’s first campaign, where you’d felt like a proud Momma bear.
“Yeah, but he reacted rather… pissed when we talked about this here.”
“What do you mean?” Your head whipped up, your eyes focused on Dustin, your own dice abandoned on the table for a moment.
“Well…” Dustin started, scratching the back of his head. “He thought we were not gonna play during the summer and then we brought this up. You. He thought we were abandoning Hellfire.”
“You’re not, it’s just a meeting between old friends.”
Still, you had to smile to yourself, because you knew just what it was: jealousy. You’d felt the same way when the boys had told you about Hellfire and this supercool dude the first time, because you’d missed them, had missed playing with them. But it had died down, when you’d realised just how good it was for them, and that you weren’t able to give them that kind of club with being miles apart from them.
It was kind of satisfying that you weren’t the only one with that knee-jerk reaction, but that only made you more curious about Eddie.
Tumblr media
“I’m telling you, she’s stealing the kids from me - us!” Eddie moaned as he collapsed onto a chair behind the counter of Family Video. Steve was alone today, so it was just the two of them. Business was usually slow in the summer months, but someone had to be here.
“Talk about being dramatic,” Steve mumbled, rolling his eyes. Eddie hadn’t stopped talking about this, but Steve could understand why it irked his friend. You’d been here for nearly two weeks and every time either one of them had asked the boys if they wanted to hang out, they’d declined, because they wanted to get along with the campaign. It was strange not really seeing them altogether in so long after pretty much spending all their time together when they could. Granted, everyone deserved a little time to come down from everything that had happened.
“Harrington!” Eddie suddenly sat up, spilling some of the beer he’d brought with him onto the floor, making Steve wince, because he’d have to clean it up later on.
“What?”Steve rubbed a hand over his face before he looked at Eddie, taken aback by the mischievous grin on his face. That was never a good sign.
“You still have the key to Henderson's place, don’t you?”
“Yes. Why?” Steve eyed him a moment longer, before it clicked. “You don’t really want to go over there, do you?”
“Why not? Crash their little party, and drag their asses out of Dustin’s basement so they get some fresh air. It’s not good for them to be inside all the time!”
“Look, who’s talking!” Steve couldn’t hold back a chuckle, because Eddie wasn’t exactly the guy to spend a lot of time outside bathing in the sun, but he still had a point.
“Yeah yeah, shut it.” Eddie rolled his eyes at Steve, but got up nonetheless, stepping up to Steve. “Look, these little assholes are not only cheating on me…”
“Really, Munson?” But Steve couldn’t deny the fact, that Eddie’s words were beginning to sink in, and make him realise that he missed those buttheads more than he’d like to admit.
“Well, they are!” Eddie shrugged his shoulders, rocking back on the heels of his feet, pushing his hands into the pockets of his jeans, leather jacket abandoned due to the weather, but he was still repping his Hellfire shirt.
“Alright, alright,” Steve eventually gave in, taking a look at the clock on the wall. One more hour and he could lock up. “Let me just get changed at home and then we can head over there.”
“I knew I could count on you!”
Oh Eddie was already looking forward to their stunned faces, and especially to see a look of annoyance on your face when he crashed your campaign, because he knew that he’d be fucking pissed if anyone dared to do that to him.

It was the fifth session you had, but you’d seen the boys apart from that as well, had spent some time with them at Lover’s Lake and had made a movie night with them, including Max and Elle of course, who were just wonderful to be around. They’d won your heart over in no time. But for your campaign, it was just you and the boys - and Erica, who brought so much joy into this round, so much fierceness, that you couldn’t help but smile whenever you looked at her. She was so witty, had so many great ideas, that she reminded you of yourself at that age. Sometimes speaking before you thought about the consequences and being called a big mouth by your elders, just because you knew more than they did sometimes.
“Now, Lady Applejack, you had to leave your companions behind, some of them hurt, the others taking care of the rest, but they put their trust in you.” You fix your eyes on Erica, leaning forward slightly, elbows on the table, the tips of your fingers touching. “The dragon has not yet taken notice of you, is still fast asleep, but what you need to save the others, lies directly beneath its right claw. You can see the wooden chest with the big metal lock from your hiding spot. Now, the dragon is a very light sleeper and someone who doesn’t like getting his things stolen. What he is up for is a trade, but I don’t know if you have anything to trade that is worth enough for the dragon. Or… you could just call the dragon by its name and throw him off guard. What do you want to do?” You smirked at her, leaning back in your chair, crossing your arms over your chest.
“I don’t think you made it as easy as calling the dragon Rumpelstiltskin.” Erica levelled a look at you that told you that she’d caught up on where you’d gotten your inspiration from.
“Good idea, but nope.” You shook your head, when you suddenly heard trampling noises from upstairs and the door to the basement flung open. Instinctively, you knew that it couldn’t be Elle and Max, because they didn’t behave like that, but there was nobody else upstairs.
When two figures bolted down the stairs and stopped next to the table, you knew immediately who they were, because they boys hadn’t shut up about Steve and Eddie. Of course, you’d known King Steve, but you hadn’t been in the same group of friends. It had surprised you to hear from Dustin and Mike just how much he’d changed, but they loved the guy. And they loved Eddie. When your eyes met, you couldn’t deny the fact that your heart skipped a beat. After hearing so much about him, you were of course curious to meet him, but the effect those deep brown eyes had on you when they were levelled on you, was something nobody could have prepared you for.
“What the hell? Eddie? Steve?” Dustin spoke up, looking from one to the other, but Eddie didn’t even react, his eyes were still firmly on you.
You were not what he’d expected. Not at all. Though to be fair, he wasn’t sure what he’d expected look-wise, but he’d expected someone with their nose stuck up in the air, who would be mean and just wanted to keep the boys to herself. You looked nothing like a mean old witch wanting to destroy his life. Okay, that was a little over-dramatic, but still. In fact… you looked stunning, though a bit shocked judging by your big eyes that stared back at him.
“Surprise!” Steve said, poking his elbow into Eddie’s side, pulling him back from his thoughts.
“Yeah… s- surprise!” He managed, all but blushing when he looked at you once more. He was usually so witty with his words, never one to lose his ability to speak, but right now`? Right now, you rendered him speechless and that even without having said a word, but when you finally opened your mouth, he hung on your every word.
“Gentlemen, we’re kind of in the middle of something? We were just about to find out whether Lady Applejack would tame our dragon or not.” You rose to your feet, leaning over the table, putting your weight on your hands, while you looked at both men.
“A dragon”?” Eddie’s ears perked up, his eyes scanning the table, and he had to admit that he was impressed with your whole setup.
“Yeah the dragon can wait!” Steve spoke up again, rolling his eyes at Eddie, because this had been his idea after all, and now, he was all heart-eyes for you. Oh Steve knew that look, but he was hoping nobody else was picking up on that right now, and would just attribute it to the game or whatever. He honestly didn’t care, he just wanted to set this plan in motion.
“But we are hurt and Erica has to save us!” Will spoke up, the desperation clear in his voice, because he was always playing with his whole heart.
“Erica can still do that tomorrow!” Eventually, Eddie had found his voice again, and spoke up, not looking at you anymore, because he knew that he’d fumble with his words otherwise.
“Just take a break. We already ordered pizza to my place. Parents have gone on vacation at the start of the week, so we can hang there.” Steve shrugged his shoulders, a smile taking over his face, because he knew that he could get the kids with pizza and the pool at his house, especially when it had gotten so damn hot again.
“Wait, why didn’t I know that?” Dustin got up from his chair, reaching for his bag already.
“Because you were busy, butthead,” Eddie ruffled Dustin’s hair, a smile on his lips, that caught you off guard. He looked even better when he smiled with that kind of adoration in his eyes that was reserved for the kids. You knew it all too well, because they brought that out in you as well.
“Can we?” Mike looked at you expectantly, and you felt transported back in time to when they were all still little, when you’d been their babysitter and they’d asked you for permission.
“If you want, of course! We can resume some other time,” you said with a smile, watching them all get up excitedly grabbing their bags and bounding up the stairs. You turned away from them with a smile on your lips, as you gathered your most important stuff. Everything else could just stay here, but you needed your notes before anyone else would be able to read them.
“You coming?” Eddie called over to you standing at the bottom step of the stairs. “Don’t wanna miss out on pizza and cooling down in the pool do you?”
“Oh, I didn’t know the invitation was for me as well.”
“Of course! Now that we finally met, I need to know more about you!” Eddie winked at you, suddenly getting a burst of confidence back, and it made you smile - and your stomach tingle, which you tried to ignore as best as you could.
Everyone was talking a mile a minute while they were sitting around the pool, enjoying their pizza. The boys talking about your campaign as well, discussing their next moves with Erica.
“You gonna give us a hint at the name of the dragon?” Lucas called over to you, tilting his head to the side. He’d already finished his pizza and was getting ready to get into the water.
“Nope. Not a single word will leave my lips,” you said with a smile, making a motion with your hand that you were locking your lips and throwing away the key.
“That’s gonna be on their minds until you continue,” Eddie said, sitting down next to you at the edge of the pool. Your legs were dangling in the water and he’d pushed up the legs of his jeans as far as possible so that he could dip his feet and legs into the water as well.
“Let them burn a little bit. I love getting them so curious that they practically start begging me for information, because they can’t wait to continue.” Your lips curled up into a smile, your head turning slowly to look at Eddie. “But I guess you know that.”
“Oh yeah… all the time. But I didn’t tell them, instead I just revelled in their misery.” Eddie nudged your shoulder with his own, nibbling on his bottom lip before he looked back at you. “Sorry for crashing the campaign like that. I would have freaked out if someone had done that to me.”
His honest words made you smile, and you nudged him back, aware of a couple pairs of eyes on the two of you, but you just tried to ignore them.
“Don’t worry about it, I get it. Besides, I’m happy to finally meet you, even if it happened like that.”
“Well, we could have had that sooner, but you guys were all so busy. The kids didn’t even want to hang out with Steve and me at all.”
“But you could have just joined us, I made the offer.” You shrugged your shoulders, leaning a bit forward to trace your fingertips across the water.
“What do you mean?” Eddie turned his upper body towards you, focusing solely on you. His eyes scanned your face, the curve of your cheeks, your plush lips that gave him all kinds of ideas, back up to your kind eyes that looked back at him with such warmth that it made his breath hitch in his throat.
“Well, I told Dustin that even a DM likes to participate in a campaign now and then. Hand off the reins and just play. He said that wasn’t your cup of tea.” You wet your lips with your tongue, eyes darting from his lips up to his eyes.
“That little shithead,” Eddie mumbled under his breath, but you still picked up on it, chuckling at his words. “I said some… not so nice things before, so maybe that’s why he didn’t say anything to me.” “I get it… you were jealous!” You smirked at him, and before he could protest you kept on talking. “I was too. When they told me about you? About this supercool guy who made these awesome campaigns and had his own club for D&D? I really was jealous of you, because you got to spend time with them. But them I realised that I was happy for them, that they got to do what they loved because of you. So thank you for making them part of Hellfire.” You put your hand on his thigh, feeling him tense up beneath your touch. “That was definitely not what I expected.” Eddie managed a chuckle, leaning back on his hands while still watching you. “You’re really something, you know that?”
“Can you stop flirting in front of the kids?” Steve called over to both of you, making Eddie blush, while you also felt the heat creep up your neck, but when you heard Eddie chuckle, you relaxed.
“You’re just jealous, Harrington,” Eddie called out to his friend.
“Maybe so!”
You both started chuckling, but it died down when Eddie looked back at you again.
“Now, as someone not part of the campaign… would you confide in me and tell me the name of the dragon?” Eddie’s eyes lit up with mischief, because he would love to know that, tease the kids with it, because he knew something they might need for their campaign.
“If you promise to keep it a secret?” You raised your eyebrow at him, biting your lip again.
“By my honour! I will not breathe a word until the campaign is over! But I will tease the shit out of them.” You both started to chuckle.
“Okay… from one DM to another,” you lowered your voice, leaning over to him, one hand on your shoulder and your lips brushing the shell of his ear when you whispered the dragon’s name into Eddie’s ear. You could feel his hand land on your thigh, squeezing it slightly as his lips curled up into a smile.
“They weren’t lying when they said your campaigns are epic.”
“They say the same about yours…”
“Imagine what we could come up with together then,” Eddie said, rubbing his thumb over your thigh before giving it a gentle squeeze. Usually, you wouldn’t let someone you barely knew get so close to you, but with Eddie, you felt like you both already knew each other.
“It’s a date then,” you said, beaming up at him. “Now we have to make one together.”
“A date it is.”

Michaels's fingers drummed on the steering wheel, the music flowing from the speakers quietly but loud enough that he could enjoy it. the lights from the convenience store lit up his facial features as he waited on his friends. the summer heat was giving him a reminder of how hot it would be in his father's pizzaria, just the thought or mention of it made him groan and this constant reminder was not helping him in the slightest.
Michaels's eyes drifted around his truck, locking his eyes on the cd of your own music you had given him when you both were walking home from the two nice ladies' diner. lips turning up slowly into a soft smile, tempted to put it and listen but knowing his friends would be back any minute and he washed the thought out of his head, he could listen after dropping them off later.
laugher broke out into the summer air causing Michael to look up, watching his friends walk out with smiles. sighed as he could already pinpoint almost everything they had stolen—honestly shocked that no one called them out for it because they were awful at hiding it, you could practically see a bottle of alcohol in the front of Steven’s pants.
“Mikey I got your favorite” Jeremy snickered as he got into the small back seat, Steven got in after with the same smirk that Jeremy had. Michael shook his head but smiled as he started to pull out. Michael had gotten in trouble last time for coming home drunk by his mom, he could barely remember anything from that except the “you’re 18 and live under my roof and you will not be coming home drunk” lecture and he really didn't want to hear it again.
“Oh! I got you this, thought it looked like your girl” steven said, smacking the gum in his mouth as he pulled the dirty magazine from where he tucked it in the waistband of his pants and handed it to Michael.
“Shut the fuck up, she’s not my girl” Michael scoffed, glancing at the magazine, yes it did look like you but it was not you. steven mumbled a jokey “whatever” while Jeremy threw his hands up with a shrug when michael looked back at him. Michael tossed the magazine to the floor on the passenger side, but it took every ounce of self-control he had to not keep glancing at it.
“Mikey- man- we should drink at Freddy's,” Steven said, he looked back at Jeremy and the boy nodded, Michael sighed and let his head roll back onto the headrest.
“You know my dad would kill me if he found out,” Michael said, stopping at a red light.
“Cmon mike, we’re going away for college after this summer, let’s have fun and I know there's no alarm, just mega fuckin’ locks,” Steven said, taking the alcohol out of his pants and passing them back to Jeremy.
“Mira’s at the mall with y/n and kim, let’s invite them” Jeremy suggested, sitting the alcohol in the seat next to him carefully. Michael thought it over in his head, it wasn’t a bad idea but if William found out he would probably rip the piercing right out of his nose, if it didn’t he would have a great time and he knew of a way to get in without a key but this could be the last time to do this till his dad hired the security guard that he was talking about at dinner.
“Okay, okay” Michael gave in, putting his blinker on.
“maybe Kim will have weed” steven mentioned, lifting his brows.
“Probably not, her mom caught her with it right after graduation. I’ve heard her moms checking everything when she gets home and saying she won’t stop till she moves out” Jeremy sighed.
-
mira was digging through her bag as you sat on the concrete. a bubble gum sucker in your mouth, kim sat next to you and counted the money that was in her wallet.
“wow kim you really cut down on your shopping addiction” you joked and nudged her arm. kim laughed softly.
“saving up to move out” kim said, zipping up her wallet and tossing it into her small bag.
“no college?” you asked, tossing the lollipop stick onto the ground.
“don’t think it’s for me if I'm being honest, I like it here and the only college I would want to go to is out of state,” she confessed. you nodded as if you understood, but you didn’t, you wanted out of this shitty small town in the most shitty state. you wanted to get far far away and sometimes you hoped some magical person would come sweep you off your feet and save you.
“you look at any apartments?” you asked, you looked behind you at mira and she was still looking for something then you looked at kim.
“yeah, a few, there's this really cute one i looked at but it's a bit pricey” she answered with a shrug.
it was getting dark, you all came to the mall after the rush hour, not wanting to wait in lines and since it was summer everyone was there, it was the only thing to do in a town in the middle of nowhere and this was the only thing for everyone to enjoy.
music blared and you could see the signature red truck coming your way. Michael Afton and his friends, you knew Ben wasn’t with them since he was at your grandma's house three hours away helping your other aunt to move in and take care of her.
mira walked over to you and kim after finally finding her keys and wallet, she laughed as they pulled up.
it was weird how you all were connected, you all gravitated towards each other without even knowing people you all were close to had some type of connection with the other, until you all finally made the connections, jeremy was dating mira’s step brother and kim was in a relationship with michaels cousin macy while ben was on and off with steven’s sister.
michael rolled down his window and jeremy popped his head out from between the seats.
mira rolled her eyes playfully. “knew I shouldn't have told you where we were going” she laughed.
“what’s wrong with wanting to see my best friends in the world?” Jeremy acted offended. “we’re here to give you something fun to do in the town of hurricane, i think you should be begging to come with us” he added.
you laughed and looked up at mira.
“why not” you said, getting up of the concrete then helping kim up.
“meet us at freddys” steven yelled as michael started to roll his window up, mira shouted an okay before hitting the unlock button on her keys.
“that freaky animatronic place?” kim asked as you three started walking to miras car.
“maybe it will be spooky” you said, moving your fingers and making ghost sounds before getting into the car. kim laughed and rolled her eyes.
driving there didn’t take too long, the mall was a bit away from it since they wanted to put it somewhere that made it accessible for most of the town. it was fully dark out and street lights were already on.
mira parked where michael's truck was, a little ways from the pizzeria.
“about time you guys showed up” steven said as you three walked to them.
“don’t they have cameras here” you asked, the breeze gave you a chill.
“My dad took the old ones out since they kept messing up and ordered new ones so we’re good with cameras,” Michael said, easing your nerves.
“okay then why’d we have to park in the mud, its caked on my shoes, '' Kim complained.
“because my dad drives by here on his way home from my uncles” michael huffed, and walked to a spot where he could pull off the vent cover with ease.
“wait we have to crawl through that?” mira asked in disgust, jeremy rolled his eyes. “there's probably bugs in there” she added.
“is a little bug gonna stop you from a date with mr.vodka and ms.beer?” jeremy asked in a baby voice, taking out the alcohol out from the bag that sat on the ground beside him.
thankfully michael had the rest of the cups he bought for jeremy's birthday party in march in his truck, and they had stolen some pineapple juice earlier.
“well i didn’t know alcohol was involved” Mira said and got closer to the vent.
“of course alcohol was involved, we said something fun to do, not that a miracle would happen” Michael said with a breathy laugh. mira laughed and mumbled something about him being right.
“alright, this leads to parts and service and nothing blocks this duct so we should be able to get in and out easily, plus it’s not very long and it’s pretty big so no one has to worry about claustrophobia” Michael informed everyone.
you all stood in silence and looked around at each other. Michael huffed, “okay i’ll go first” he said before getting on his knees and crawled into the vent.
Michael made it inside and turned on the light before yelling for the next person.
Michael yelled out again to bring the alcohol so the last person didn’t have to worry about it.
“y/n do it with me” Mira begged, her hands clasped together.
“okay” you said, dragging out the ‘ay’ as you grabbed the bag and slid it into the vent then go in after.
you pushed the bag as you crawled, mira knew you were safe to go in with since she knew jeremy or kim would joke and say something about a bug and freak her out.
Michael helped you up then took the alcohol, you helped mira and she brushed off her clothes.
“see no bugs” Michael said with a sly smile.
“yeah see mira, Michael was the only bug you had to worry about” you quipped and shrugged your shoulders.
Michael booed you as he left the room.
-
soon you all gathered in a private party room so no one would see the lights, you all took your pick on what alcohol you wanted.
“y/n come take a shot with me” steven said loudly.
you were two shots in and took three tiny sips of mira’s vodka and pineapple drink, you guys worked with what you had and you all were lucky Michael was able to get some sodas from the vending machine.
steven poured the shots and opened a coke for a chaser. He handed it to you and started to count. your face scrunched as you swallowed and he took a sip of the coke then handed it to you.
“that was foul” you groaned and shook your head. steven nodded then took another sip from the coke.
you migrated back to mira, she was on her first beer after he vodka drink, you noted that kim took minimal sips of the one beer she had carried around the entire time, you also decided to only sip on a beer and you were barely buzzed.
-
you didn’t know how you and Michael had gotten away from everyone else but you did.
“not drinking much today mikey?” you asked, leaning on a wall next to where he was standing. you knew Michael liked to drink, you even saw him shitfaced at stevens little get together in october. you remembered how you two bickered even when he was drunk.
“someones gotta drive you know” he said, you nodded and took another sip.
“kims also holding back drinking for the same reason then?” you asked, you looked at him, his blue eyes returned the gaze.
“yeah we talked about it while i got the soda” he confirmed.
you smiled before leaning off the wall and starting to walk down the hall.
Michael followed you, “where you going rockstar?” he asked and tilted his head.
you smiled, “giving myself a tour since the heir of this pizzeria won’t” you said and shrugged, tilting your head like his.
Michael laughed, you didn't know if it was because he knew his dad would rather die than let this whole franchise be ran by someone who is not him personally or that you wanted a tour of the place.
“if you wanted to see animatronics that can sing and play instruments better than you, you should’ve just said that” Michael responded, he crossed his arms and walked to you.
you rolled your eyes, “that’s exactly why i invited you to that diner, since you’re always around great entertainment i thought you would enjoy my mediocre singing” you laughed and took a drink.
“yes i just love terrible singing and when sage knocked over those couples drinks with their guitar,” Michael said and nodded his head. you giggled and nodded.
“that was pretty funny tho” you admitted and smacked his shoulder lightly.
you walked into the pirates cove section, Michael turned on the light since there was no window in there. you moved the curtain even though it said ‘out of order’.
Michael leaned against the wall, you inhaled sharply as the fox animatronic stared back at you, your eyes wide, the stance the animatronic was in was terrifying, it looked like it could run straight out of the curtain or like it was waiting for someone to open the curtain and be right in their face.
“holy shit” you mumbled and took a step back and bumped into Michael.
“that's foxy” he said, his hand coming to your shoulder.
“no, that is freaky as fuck” you responded, looking at it made you get goosebumps.
Michael moved from behind you and closed the curtain. “Here I'll show you the old ones” he said and grabbed your hand and turned the light off before leading you out of the room.
you could hear jeremy and mira laughing and singing while kim tried to get jeremy off of the table.
he took you to the storage room, the room was filled with labeled boxes, he guided you past the shelves.
“my dad doesn’t want to retire them but uncle henry said that they need to be more ahead of their times for business plus he doesn’t think they’re safe” he said.
you stood there looking at the old bunny suit, the old yellowing suit with a bowtie, the texture looked almost like real fur and you reached your hand out to touch it.
Michael reached his hand out to stop yours.
“i wouldn’t touch it” he said, bringing your hand back but not letting go. you looked at him, he was so close to you and you honestly don't think he’s ever been this close to you during the entire frenemies relationship you have. Michael’s cologne engulfed you and it was weirdly comforting.
you furrowed your brows and he could tell you were silently asking why.
“it has springlocks in it and its probably been ready to pop since its been a while, they made it so someone could wear it or it be an animatronic on its own, they had a problem with it and moisture. i don’t want you to get hurt” michael informed you and only one sentence stood out. his hand still holding yours.
your eyes went from his to his lips then back up, was it bad that you wanted to kiss him? did he look at you like this all the time?
maybe this was what mira and kim was talking about when they would bring up yours and michaels relationship, the soft bickering and stubbornness from both parties was what you two liked to put out, it made things fun and when asked about there being more the “no michael’s a fucking dick” and “she’s a bitch” was the common response, even when you both knew that was not the case.
you sat your drink on the shelf behind you and Michael got closer, you don’t know what made you so confident, you closed the small gap and connected your lips to his.
Michaels hand moved to your waist and pushed you back softly against the shelf, he didn’t push you away which was relieving and instead welcomed it with open arms like he had been waiting, and maybe he was waiting.
your hand moved to his neck and welcomed that the kiss was getting rougher.
you were about to move your fingers into his hair, the hair he took so much pride in and messed with all the time, the same stupid mullet you gave him so much shit for and said how bad it looked when in reality it just made him look good.
a loud sound, like something heavy running made you two jump away from each other but still keep your hands on each other.
“did you hear that?” you asked and tried to look around. your heart was beating fast.
“yeah” Michael breathed out, his heart beating just as fast as yours. He pulled away from you but took ahold of your hand, you quickly grabbed your drink as you were being pulled by him.
you both looked around, you didn’t know what to look for but michael knew. he could see from the corner of his eye he could see that chica had moved and now stood in a dark corner.
“did you guys hear that?” kim asked, which made you both jump again. you both pulled your hands away from each other.
you smiled at her, “told you it would be spooky” you giggled and she rolled her eyes.
“its getting really late, we should get ready to leave.” Michael said, walking towards the private party room.
you and Michael cleaned up the room while kim got mira, jeremy and steven collected and ready to leave.
kim went out first then mira, jeremy and steven and you followed behind to make sure they got through safely. Michael did a mental check of everything before crawling out himself.
you carried the bag that had empty cups, bottles and cans and some full ones.
“im just gonna take them to mira’s house” kim said, mira gave her the keys earlier.
“i’ll take y/n” Michael yawned and ran his hands through his hair which just made it fluffier.
“i think this is the only time you two have gotten along” kim laughed, you rolled your eyes and Michael mumbled “shut up”
once you helped get mira and steven in the car kim was saying her goodbyes.
“call me when you get home” you said as you hopped into Michael's truck and put the bag in the back.
“i will, get home safe” kim said and backed out.
a few minutes into the drive you spotted the cd you gave him. you leaned over and grabbed it.
“my singing is shit but you keep my cd in your truck?” you asked with a sly smirk, you watched Michael smile and shake his head.
“there's a reason it was on the floor” he quipped and leaned back in his seat.
“oh yeah, on the floor next to your playboy” you said and held up the magazine, Michael inhaled sharply and snatched the magazine from you and tossed it into the back.
“i have no idea what you’re talking about,” Michael responded and looked over at you.
you laughed and smacked his shoulder. “you can admit that you love my band, i won't tell anyone” you said.
Michael pulled into his driveway, his fathers car not there which did make him worry.
“there’s nothing to admit” he sighed, turning off the ignition.
“sure” you said, dragging it out as you undid your seatbelt.
you and michael got closer, you leaned against the center console and just when you were about to close the gap, you leaned back, smirked and shook your head.
“punishment for saying my singing is shit” you said and got out of the truck.

happy birthday to my best friend in the world, @elekinetic. pretend i finished this on time 🫶
Nancy Wheeler doesn't like hospitals.
There’s death and disease around every corner, it's always freezing cold, and the fluorescent lights give her a headache.
Plus, the vending machines always eat her quarters.
Most people don’t like hospitals, she knows that. But most people haven’t been chased through the sterile halls by a creature made of exploded human corpses, so Nancy likes to think she has an exceptionally good reason.
It’s that memory that haunts her now. It follows her down the brightly lit hospital corridor and makes her heart race as she walks a little faster, casting cursory glances over her shoulder. With every glance, she's half expecting to see a large mass of flesh and jagged bones gaining on her, leaving a trail of blood in its wake, staining the pristine white tile.
There’s nothing there, nothing but the memory, but she feels the bile rise in her throat anyway.
She focuses her attention on the numbers on the doorframes as she passes – 242, 244, 246.
248 - Maxine Mayfield.
She pauses outside the open door, taking in the sight. Bracing herself, maybe.
Max is almost alarmingly pale, though the dark circles under her eyes have cleared, making her look a little less sick and frail. Her arms lay at her sides, the casts having been recently removed. She wears a white hospital gown.
Max Mayfield has always looked like a sad kid, from the time she first moved to Hawkins – but seeing her like this is something entirely different. Laid up in a hospital bed, staring blankly ahead, her irises a milky blue color that betray her lack of vision. She looks helpless. Broken.
As shitty as it sounds, it’s hard to look at her. She’s just a kid – a kid that Nancy should have protected, but instead sent her to die. And she did. She died.
You’re just a kid, a voice that sounds something like Nancy’s mom tells her. But it's not true. It hasn’t been true for a long time.
“Who is it?” Max calls, in the vague direction of the door, “You’re supposed to announce yourself.”
She sounds frustrated, like it's a rule she’s reiterated several times before. It’s understandable, wanting some level of control.
Nancy clears her throat. “It’s Nancy.”
The scowl drops from Max’s face. “Sorry,” she says hurriedly, “I thought you were Mike.”
Nancy blinks. “You thought I was Mike? Why?”
“Your footsteps,” Max explains, “They sound like his.”
Nancy remembers having her mom and dad’s footsteps memorized, always listening for them during late night phone calls. Her mom’s were delicate and quick, while her dad’s were heavy and sluggish. She imagines having to experience the world that way, listening to the cadence of footsteps.
She steps into the room, acutely aware of the sound of her feet on the tile. “Can I sit?” she asks, resting her hand on the back of the chair next to Max’s bed, waiting for permission.
“Yeah,” Max says, granting it.
Nancy sits on the edge of the seat, her posture perfectly straight. She's stiff, she knows. Hopefully Max can't tell.
“How are you feeling?” she asks.
“Shitty,” Max answers, “and blind," she adds.
Nancy grimaces and gives a nod of acknowledgment before she remembers that Max can't see it.
“Sorry,” Max says, to fill the silence, “I’m just– I’m fine.”
“You don’t have to be fine,” Nancy says, shaking her head.
Max sighs deeply. "I know that."
She's heard it before, clearly.
“Everyone misses you,” Nancy tries, “Lucas and the boys, and Eleven.”
“El,” Max corrects automatically.
“Right. El,” Nancy amends.
Since Max woke up —since El got her back, that is— everyone's been taking turns visiting, so she's almost never alone, unless she asks for it. While Max was out, Lucas practically lived in her hospital room. He's moved back into the Sinclair house now, though he still visits twice a day. Nancy thinks he'd still be at the hospital all day if Max let him.
"Can I ask you something?" Max asks suddenly.
"Yeah," Nancy answers, "Yeah, of course."
Max pauses for a moment. "Vecna, and the monsters, and just– all this Upside Down shit we've dealt with," she says, "I've never seen you back down. From any of it. I've never seen you hesitate for a second. You just grab a gun and blow their heads off. I mean, you're like a total badass. It’s like– Like you're not afraid of anything."
Nancy shakes her head, a surprised smile creeping onto her face. "Was there a question somewhere in there?"
Max exhales sharply through her nose. "How do you do it?"
Nancy sees the way Max looks at her, almost reverent. And it's a little silly, she thinks, until she considers herself from an outside perspective. She thinks of herself at fourteen, the quiet girl who kept her head down and had just one friend. The girl who everyone thought was a priss. If that girl had seen her older self, feet planted firmly to the ground, firing shots into a demogorgon's gaping mouth as it roared, she thinks she'd probably be a little awestruck too.
Nancy remembers the first time she shot a gun. Standing in a field next to Jonathan Byers, gaze locked on a beer can, spurred on by the knowledge that her parents would disapprove. She remembers feeling like she was outside of herself, watching this girl who looked like her and felt like her but couldn't possibly be her, because this girl wielded a deadly weapon with measured confidence.
When she stops to really think about it —something she hasn't had the time or energy to do in years, constantly in survival mode— she almost doesn't know how she does it.
But the girl who fell through a tree into another world, who trembled and cried out for a boy she hardly knew, was not fearless. The girl who watched Will Byers, her little brother's sweet best friend grip his mother by the throat was not fearless. The girl who looked Henry Creel in the eye was not fearless.
Nancy Wheeler is not, and has never been, fearless.
Max fidgets, noting Nancy's lack of response. "I hate the way he was able to control me," she admits.
There's no question as to which he Max is referring to.
"When– If he comes for me again–"
"We won’t let him," Nancy interjects, her gaze fierce enough that she wonders if Max can feel it.
"We both know," Max says carefully, "that neither of us can stop that from happening."
“Okay," Nancy allows, "you’re right.”
"If he tries to get in my head again," Max says, "I want to be ready this time."
"It's not something you can be ready for," Nancy responds.
Max's face scrunches up, and Nancy can almost hear that's easy for you to say.
So she takes a different approach.
"When he got to me," she says carefully, "he showed me things." She pauses, takes a breath. "Do you know about Barb?"
"Like– a little," Max says with a shrug.
"She was my best friend," Nancy says, "My only friend, actually. And the demogorgon took her. He took her, I mean, just like he took Will. Only, she died in the Upside Down. Scared and alone."
She recounts Barb's death with a flat affect, like an investigator listing the facts of a case, the way she's heard Hopper or Murray do. She's thought about it so many times she almost feels numb, but in the icy, pins and needles kind of way.
"We were at Steve's that night," she continues, "and Barb wanted to leave. She wanted to leave and I– I told her to go without me, because I wanted to go upstairs with Steve."
She pauses. Max doesn't react.
"That was the last time I ever saw her. Until Henry– he showed her to me, and she was–" Her voice breaks, she takes a breath.
Do you remember what you did, Nancy? Or have you already forgotten?
That's how she knows he was taunting her. He can see her thoughts, and her memories, and so he knows. He knows she didn't forget. He knows it hangs over her like a dark cloud and casts a shadow over everything good in her life.
When I kill someone, I never forget.
"It was awful," she says quietly, "and it paralyzed me. There was nothing I could have done, because that's what he does. He uses your weaknesses against you."
Max closes her eyes, tilting her head back for a moment.
"It was Billy," Max says, opening her eyes, "He showed me Billy."
Immediately, Nancy knows that Henry taunted Max in the same way he did her.
"You couldn't have saved Billy," she says.
"Maybe not. But I could have tried," Max says bitterly.
"You would have died trying," Nancy argues.
"I used to wish he was dead," Max says bluntly.
Nancy's protests die on her tongue, caught off guard for a second.
"Before Starcourt," Max explains, "Before everything. I hated him."
"Max," Nancy says gently, "Billy was–"
"He was an asshole, I know," Max finishes, "A real fucking asshole. That doesn't make it okay."
Nancy shrugs. "I don't know, I think I've wished my dad would drop dead a few times before, and the only thing he ever did to me was not give a shit."
Max's eyes widen and she lets out a startled laugh. Nancy can't help but smile as she watches the tension leave her face. But it comes back just as quickly.
"He wasn't a good person," Max says, "and he sure as hell wasn't a good brother, but–" she takes a breath, "I wanted him to be. So badly. And just– now he never will, I guess."
Nancy thinks, for a moment, of Mike. She wonders if he's ever wished for her to just be an older sister. It's not the same, obviously. She's not Billy, not some abusive creep. But she's not Jonathan either. Mike isn't at the center of her life the way Will is for Jonathan. He's never needed her to prioritize him that way. At least, it didn't seem like he did.
"Whatever, it's stupid," Max finally says.
"It's not stupid," Nancy responds immediately.
Max reminds Nancy a lot of Mike. High strung, short tempered, a habit of pushing people away. But things are different with Max. Easier. There's no guilt that lies just below the surface, that builds and builds until it feels almost insurmountable, so you keep it buried.
And really, how is she supposed to talk to Mike when she's pretty clearly the last person he wants to talk to? She feels powerless with him. She feels powerless all of the time now. Her brother just got dumped by his girlfriend and he refuses to talk to anyone about it, her own relationship with Jonathan feels destined to fail, Steve Harrignton is making plans concerning her that she definitely had no say in–
Oh, and the world is ending.
There's nothing she can do to make any of it better, because she's not a great sister, or an exceptional girlfriend, or some kind of hero. She's not even the person Max Mayfield thinks she is, she's just–
She's just Nancy.
But she can talk to Max. Max is hurting and she needs someone, and Nancy can talk to her.
Max's eyes are glassy now, tears threatening to spill over.
“Hey,” Nancy says gently, “It's not stupid, okay?”
Max nods and takes a shaky breath. “Okay.”

Substitute
Tumblr media
𝗣𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 : Eddie Munson x Henderson!Reader
𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 : Dustin’s sister comes down to Hawkins for summer break, Dustin explains how his friend Lucas can’t make it to the campaign Dustin is part of and asks you to be the Substitute for him. But will their leader Eddie Munson let you?
𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 : a cuss word, and mentions of eye fucking
𝗣𝗢𝗩: first person- Y/n
•••••
“Y/n please, Lucas has his basketball game tonight so he can’t make it, I’ve asked everyone that I could think of and no one wants to, please you are my last hope, our last hope” Dustin pleaded to me, saying it as if he would get murdered if he didn’t find someone to substitute Lucas’s place to play dungeons and dragons.
I wasn’t quite used to this to be honest. I wasn’t used to be around Dustin at all for a fact. After our parents split and the divorce papers were officially signed, dad had moved away to New York, bringing me with him. So I moved away with dad and Dustin stayed with mom in Hawkins. We saw each other 3 times a year, once during spring break, another during August, and one more time during winter break.
I graduated almost 2 years ago, now working with dad and his buddies in his car shop while going to school for art, I was also the crafty type, drawing constantly and easily making a straw and shoe lace become a bracelet.
Whenever I did have time to call or visit, Dustin always made at least 3 comments about Dungeons and Dragons and the campaign he is with some others from school. Which lead me here, him begging me to be a substitute since his friend Lucas can’t play tonight.
I wasn’t the biggest player of D&D but I need know some stuff from watching Dustin play so many times, watching for afar though, never actually playing myself.
“What’s in it for me?” I asked, I wasn’t just gonna play for nothing, especially when I’m not really experienced.
“I-ummm” he said while his eyes searched the ground, trying to think of a answer, until his eyes lit up and looked back up to me “you can finally meet Eddie, if I can recall correctly you kept asking me about him and who he was after seeing pictures of the whole hellfire club” he had a smirk plastered on his face.
He wasn’t wrong and I’ll be honest about it too, I got sent copies of some pictures from mom to show what him and her have been up too, one picture catching my eye. The picture of him and everyone in his little club. One boy catching my eye, their leader, Eddie Munson.
I never met him and I wasn’t even sure if he even knew I existed, if he was ever informed of Dustin having a sister. But when I saw him for the first time, I thought I was in love. Even with the picture being in black and white.
I studied Dustins face for a few seconds, should I agree to this? I don’t even really know how to play. But then again… screw it you only live once.
“fine” I said a fake huff, trying to show as if I was frustrated by it but inside I was actually pretty excited.
We rode off on our bikes to Hawkins high where the campaign took place. Getting there the same time Dustins friend Mike did.
“Hey Mike” I said with a small wave.
“Y/n, that’s who you got? Does she even know how to play?” Okay um- ouch, not even hi back?
“Well did you find someone else better than her? Any ideas?” Dustin asked Mike, Mike didn’t really have an answer back, just kept stuttering before letting out a big huff and walking with Dustin, me following behind them.
We walked into a room with different colored lights, a few different people and a big table.
Heads turned towards us as Dustin and Mike dragged me to one side of the table, looking at Dustin and Mike before looking straight ahead of me.
And there he sat, the same boy that was in the picture, the same boy I was slightly crushing on after just seeing that one picture of him, he looked so much better in person.
He looked me straight in the eye, just staring at me for a few seconds while I did the same back.
“Absolutely not.”
Oh.
“You asked for a sub, we delivered” Dustin said while pointing at you.
“This is Hellfire club, not fashion school” he said, I looked down at my outfit, I did put lots of effort into my outfits as I really enjoyed fashion, but that was simply not needed to be said.
So I spoke up about it.
“What’s wrong with my outfit?” I asked, I was wearing a blue denim skirt, a blue top that did make my cleavage slightly show, some white sneakers and a gold necklace to make things extra.
He looked me up and down a few times before looking back at my face.
“Nothing it’s just- you don’t seem like the type to play well this kinda of game” as he shrugged his shoulders.
“I’m not really but that doesn’t mean I don’t have no interest in it” I snapped back at him.
“So then-“ he said standing up from the throne like chair he was sit on and walking around the table towards me.
“What’s your name sweetheart?”
“Y/n Henderson, I’m saying your Eddie”
His eyes widened, not widely widened but just slightly to show a small reaction.
“Henderson? Dustin you never said you had a sister” just as I thought, he never even knew who I was.
“Well do I, before you ask she doesn’t really know how to play-“ Dustin said before getting cut off.
“That’s okay, you can learn while we go” he said, now he is suddenly nice? Huh?
He stared at you boy saying or anything else after that, just looking at you, and you looked back, neither of you saying anything or moving.
He had brown chocolate colored eyes, his face features so unique and beautiful, his hair helped his appearance, the urge to touch it just gre-
“Are you guys gonna eye fuck each other all night or are we gonna play?” Dustin said while getting comfortable in one of the chairs.
“I- um- right- w-welcome to hellfire Y/n” Eddie said with a hand stretched out which I gently took in mine and shook.
We played for almost an hour, the more the game went of the more I understood it. We ended up killing vecna in the end of the game thanks to me rolling a 20.
Everyone happy and excited about our win, jumping up and down. Everyone except Eddie who looked at me as if he just seen god for the first time.
It was quite a fun scene to see.
Everyone started leaving, me following Dustin until Eddie asked me to stay back and have a “chat with him” Dustin asking us not to anything stupid that ends up with me getting pregnant.
As if Dustin, as if.
“What is it?” I asked him trying to sound annoyed.
“You were good for a first timer, you did impress me I won’t lie about that” he while playing with rings on his hand while looking up at me.
He licked his lips before saying something else.
“You don’t live here do you?” He asked
I shook my head no “me and Dustins parents aren’t together, I live with our father in New York, i come to visit a few times a year”
He nodded his head, understanding what I was saying. “How much longer do you think you will be here, in Hawkins?” He asked.
“I’m here for the week or so, maybe I’ll talk my dad into being here for longer, maybe 2 weeks” I said, now fiddling with my own fingers.
“Well I sure hope so cause I would like to hang out with you sometime before you go, and maybe get your number, I was really impressed maybe you want to play another game or two as well before you leave”
I didn’t really know what to say so I just smiled and simply said “yeah, yeah I’d like that”
He gave a smile back “well do you want a ride home? I highly doubt your little brother is still outside” He offered.
“I would love one but I rode one of Dustins spare bikes so-“
“That’s okay, I have a van, I mean it’s not like the best working van in the world but you can put the bike in the back and sit in the front with me, I mean that’s only if you wa-“
“No, no, yeah no I’d- just, I’d really like that”
“Well great, let me clean up and let me grab my keys, I’ll met you outside in about 3 minutes” he said while I nodded and walked outside to wait for him.
Thank you Dustin for asking me to be the sub and thank you Lucas for needing a Sub.
•••••
A/n : not much to say, I thought this was a cute idea, I was thinking about continuing it but I’m not sure if I will or won’t, I probably won’t but who knows :)

Flipping the coin he never knew what was going to happen. To write another story or to remain in retirement. The old man watched as the coin turned in the air and it was as if time had froze. The world around him did not matter. Spiders crawled across the old man’s face as his beady red eyes flared in the shadows above his head. Wait for the coin to fall.
Tumblr media
Across town there Mike was just finishing up his work at the office with his boring marketing job. Email after email being responded to. Some making him really question his choices in life. Why was he even doing this job anymore? Some of the emails he responded to really made no sense and he wondered if the employees that worked for him even had a lick of common sense in their empty little brains. Slamming his laptop shut, he packed up his bag, locked his office and walked out of the building ready to be home where he could relax and drift off into nothing.
Putting his head buds in he enjoyed walking down the warm streets of the city trying to ignore the beggars as they were tried to get money from him. Dancing around them as he managed to doge each and every one he continued on his way. Soon Mike passed by an alley that he passed by every evening on his way hut for some reason this night it struck a particular interest for him because out of the corner of his eye he seen what could only be described as a faint light from a shop window glowing in the corner tucked away behind a garbage can. It seemed as if time has came to a stop. Nothing seemed to be moving and he he was drawn to the light. Slowly Mike walked toward to glow into the dark alley. Only seeing why could be illuminated by the light of the shops window.
Tumblr media
Mike stood in front of the door. Memories by the ancient carvings that he seen. It looked like an old antique shop and for some reason the world still remained at a standstill. Even though he was unaware of it. Slowly the door opened and without even needing an invitation Mike was drawn into the shop where the door shut. Leaving him in a dark room that was joe only lit by the candle light sitting on a desk. And behind that desk was an ancient looking man with red eyes and pointed teeth.
“Why are you here my boy! No one comes to this shop unless they need something. And you seem as though you don’t !”
Mike not even sure what to say. He couldn’t speak. He was shocked that the old man could even speak being so old and decrepit. Then with a sinister smile the old man laughed. Pointed his head back to the coin that floating in mid air that Mike just realized was there. “My boy choose. Heads or tails!”
Tumblr media
Mike began to stutter. Not even know what to say. He didn’t even get to a chance to choose before the coin floor. Piercing the ancient wooden floor like a knife. “Hmm landed on its side. Interesting. Well this should be fun” said the old man as he cracked another evil grin. “It looks like an old man is about to come out of retirement” he said as his eyes flared red.
Mike’s tongue finally started to produce the words that Mike had so desperately trying to make. “What are you talking about!? Who are you!?”
“I have many names. Mainly the evil one. And you my dear man are going to be first of many upon my return. Heads and tails would have kept me in retirement. A complete shut in from the world. But here we are. A coin on its side. And a human in my realm.”
Mike began to step back toward the door. He wanted to escape but the door couldn’t be found. And the old man was walking closer to him. “Don’t run just yet. We have to see if I still have it!”
——-stereotypical…..~~it continues~~~~……….————————
“It’s been a long time since I’ve checked on my crates Mike. It’s time for me to get back out into the world.” Mike was stuck with fear as the old man had no way of knowing his name. “But let’s have some fun! All those long days in the office. All those long days being stressed. I know what you’ve secretly wished for Mike. What you’ve always wanted but you could never have. You’ve always wanted a life of excitement yes ? Well I’m going to give you just that !”
Mike felt sick to his stomach students as his vision began to shift. Standing was becoming more and more difficult by the second as his he quickly became dizzy as the room seemed to become much hotter than it was previously. “What. What are you doing to me!” Mike demanded not noticing his voicing getting deeper. The old man chuckled “I’m just giving you what you want!” Mike soon fell to the ground as sweat began to pour from his body. He was quickly becoming itchy not realizing the full extend of the changes that were taking place on his body as the old man was there. His shoes started to become tight as his feet quickly became too big for the size 11 shoes he was wear. He struggled to kick them off and when he did he was surprised to see his feet stretching right in front of him. But what scared him was the thick black curls that he could see poking out of the white cotton socks he was wearing. Hair. And lots of it. Taking his socks off he was horrified to see just how much was changing.
Tumblr media
The changes quickly traveled up his legs making them cramp as his skin begin to burn as if he was in the sun for far too long. Not realizing the heavy tan that was now permanent on his skin as it would be hard to see. Hard quickly grew over in legs in thick curls that traveled up all the way to his stomach where it continued to grow only to get thicker. It traveled up his torso where abs and pecs quickly formed in emends muscle spasms that left Mike unable to move on the floor. Muscle that would be hard to see under the hair that would be costing his chest and Abs from here on out. His arms bulked up with muscle as his hands thickened into man’s hands as hair traveled across the backs of them too and continued up his arms meeting with his chest hair. His back quickly became a carpet like the rest of his body while a thick beard began to grow in length and get hotter but the second.
Tumblr media
Mikes face began to contort and reshape. All Mike could do was scream in agony as he was forced to change by the old man against his will. Being covered in hair and being packed with muscle. When the changes were done, Mike was completely unrecognizable.
Tumblr media
As like sat up a thick silver chain formed across his neck and got tangled in the mess of beard and chest hair that he now had. He looked completed different! “What did you do to me !!”
The old man just snickered at him “why. I’m giving you a life of excitement! Something is missing though…”Mike felt as thought he had something in his throat. Something was right.
“cos'hai fatto!” Mike demanded but as soon as the words left his mouth he was shocked. His hairy hands jumped to his throat. Not knowing what he said.
“That’s better ! I’m adding you to my creatures. And what I was missing was the dirty Italian. Go on try speaking !!”
“non puoi farmi questo! (You can do this to me)” Mike demanded in his new native tongue!
“Sure I can my dear man! In fact! All that cologne you wear and expensive jewelry! I’ll make sure no one ever mistakes you for one again!” Instantly Mike began to smell as thought he doused himself in a bottle of the cheapest cologne you could find on the shelf. As thick golden rings formed on his hairy fingers. Expensive shoes formed on his feet while his clothes became very form fitting. “You’re going to have a body for excitement. And men and women are going to look and love every inch of that stinky Italian body you are going to be cursed to have now!” The old man’s eyes glowed red. Mike didn’t even know it but one of his own teeth had been capped during the transformation by a gold. Making him look even more cheap and Italian than he could ever have possibly imagined. “Now. My creature. Let’s go find your brothers.” The door to the shop burst open and the old man walked out. As if my some invisible leash, Mike’s larger hairy feet began to move on their own. Following their new master into the world of change. The old man was now out of retirement. And the world was ready to be cursed once again.

The sun is warm on Mike's face, and Will is warm against his side.
As far as dates go, Mike has to admit he did a pretty solid job with this one, even if he can already tell that his skin is going to be sunburnt tomorrow and Will won't stop whining about the little pebbles digging into their backs, and yeah, maybe bringing a picnic blanket might have been helpful, but- whatever. He's pretty proud of himself, both for finding this abandoned field on the outskirts of Hawkins and correctly pegging it as a good evening hangout spot, and for managing to get Will out here with him in the first place - it's been a bit of a chaotic summer so far, with the Party preparing to go into their senior year and Hopper and Joyce planning their wedding and Nancy and Jonathan and all their dumb friends visiting from college.
Anyway. The point is that evenings like this are far and few between, and have been for a while, because if the summer has been chaotic, the months leading up to it were nothing short of hectic. The SATs and AP exams and final projects had been brutal, and, like, yeah, the Party is together constantly, and Mike and Will have been joined at the hip since far before they started dating, but it's- nice. That's all.
Will shifts where he's pressed against Mike's side, head tucked against his shoulder and fingers tracing a gentle pattern over his chest. "Ow," he mumbles into Mike's neck, wincing as, presumably, one of the ever offending pebbles digs into his back.
Mike smiles, wrapping a gentle arm around his boyfriend's shoulders as Will wriggles around, trying to get comfortable. "Too many rocks?"
"Yeah," Will huffs, squinting up at Mike accusingly, "Are you sure we can't sit in the car?"
"We're experiencing nature, Will," Mike says for the third time, exasperated. "Plus, I told you, my A/C is broken. We'd overheat and die."
Will rolls his eyes. "You're so dramatic," he grumbles, rolling over onto his back and gazing up at the sky. Mike smiles, letting his head fall to the side so he can watch Will's profile, lit up by the golden glow of the sunset.
He's so beautiful, looking happy and flushed despite all his griping, the sun casting dramatic shadows over his cheekbones. It's stupid, but Mike's missed him these last few weeks, where they've had less time to see each other, lost in the shuffle of visiting family members and summer jobs and everything else. He misses Will a lot, which is stupid and ridiculous, because they've been dating for a couple months now and had been dancing around it for a few months before that, but it's true. He'd missed out on time with Will, that year that he was in California and the months leading up to it, and it had been his fault and he knows it doesn't matter anymore, but it's just- it's something he thinks about, sometimes. How easy it would have been to have lost Will completely, and how lucky he is that he didn't.
Plus, Will is just- nice to have around. Objectively speaking.
Whatever.
"You're staring," Will says softly, and he doesn't look at him directly but his mouth tilts into a small, wry smile. Mike flushes, and is entirely uncompelled to look away.
"What are you gonna do about it?" he teases, nudging Will gently. He scoots closer, lifting his hand from where it rests in the grass to brush lightly through Will's hair, and Will hums appreciatively.
He reaches up and catches Mike's hand, pressing his lips to Mike's fingertips, soft and feather-light. Mike's heart flutters, and he rolls over, leaning over Will and staring him down with a goofy grin on his face.
Will meets his gaze, one eyebrow quirked. "You're pretty," he sing-songs, grinning all teeth, and Mike laughs even as he feels heat rush to his face.
"You're a dork," he returns, and dips down to press his lips to Will's before Will can argue. He can feel Will's smile against his lips, sweet and summery, and it makes something click into place in his chest. I missed this, he thinks hazily, which is still stupid and ridiculous because he sees Will every day, gets to kiss him like this basically whenever he wants, but it's true. This need inside of him runs deep and terrifyingly intense, and he'd always sort of thought it would mellow a little once he was actually dating Will, but apparently not. He just wants- needs Will here with him like this, all the time, forever.
Jesus Christ. Mike can never say any of that out loud. He'd die of mortification on the spot.
But if the way Will is kissing him back is any indication, the feeling is at least halfway reciprocated. His hands are pressed firmly into Mike's back, pressing him lower as he kisses him carefully, slowly, like he's relishing the feeling of Mike against him like this. For someone who, at least as far as he's told Mike, had had little to no experience with kissing before they got together, he's learned far, far too quickly. It's a little unfair, in all honesty, that Will can be so effortless like this, matching every ounce of Mike's crazed intensity with his own.
They even each other out. They work, like this.
After a long moment, Mike pulls back, nuzzling his nose into Will's cheek before settling back down into the grassy slope of the field. Will smiles, slinging an arm over Mike's stomach and returning to his original position - face pressed into Mike's neck, curled around him with their limbs hooked around each other.
He's so warm, rivaling the sun itself, and the air smells like freshly mowed grass and flowers and the faint traces of Will's shampoo from where his hair brushes against Mike's cheek.
And there's that other thing, the thing that occurs to Mike in moments like these, the reason for this deep-seated neediness and want in him, the thing he's known for years now, since before he could even properly put a name to it. He's been thinking about that thing a lot lately, because he's known it all this time, sure, but there's a big difference between keeping something like that tucked away in the back of his brain with the vague idea of getting around to dealing with it some day, versus knowing it with such constancy, with such regular reminders, now that he actually gets to be with Will in this way.
Will shifts against Mike again, pressing a light kiss to his collarbone, and Mike- might as well admit it, at this point.
"Hey, Will?" he asks softly, dragging his fingers through his boyfriend's hair again and turning his head, nosing against the side of his face and kissing his jawline lightly.
There must be something in his tone, something that gives him away, and he kind of figures Will knows what the- that the thing is anyway, but it still manages to settle his nerves when Will tilts his head up to look at him, smiling sweetly.
"Mike," he replies, lightly teasing and honey-sweet, "I know."
Thank God, Mike thinks, and his face splits into a smile. "Can I," he says, swallowing back the unwarranted nerves that are still humming through his veins, "Can I say it anyway?"
Will's eyes widen just slightly, and he flushes, looking embarrassed and a little shy. "Y-yeah," he says, his easily confident demeanor slipping a little, and he looks endearingly nervous, biting his lip and nodding once.
It's this, combined with the sun on their cheeks and the warmth between them, that makes the words slip out. "I love you," Mike whispers, heart beating fast in his chest and a giddy feeling overtaking him. He dips down, presses two quick kisses to Will's cheek, and a slightly hysterical giggle escapes him. "I love you so much," he whispers, face tucked in beside Will's and lips brushing his jaw.
Will's eyes flutter shut, and a smile steadily spreads across his face as Mike continues dropping little kisses to the side of his face and neck. "I love you too," he hums, as Mike ducks his head lower and kisses his neck, "I really- Mike, that tickles!"
"Don't care," Mike murmurs, kissing the junction between Will's neck and shoulder. "I love you, I love you, I love-"
"Okay," Will cuts in, laughing, "I get it, Mike."
Mike reluctantly detaches himself from Will's neck, nuzzling his face against Will's one more time before rolling over onto his back and bringing Will with him, an arm around his shoulders and pulling him closer. Will laughs again, quiet and warm, and his head settles heavily onto Mike's chest. "I love you too," he says again, and Mike's entire body floods with warmth. "I really do, Mike."
This, too, Mike had known - almost in the same way he'd been aware of his own feelings, a quiet sort of knowledge that he'd been putting off confronting. "I know," he hums, just to be annoying, and Will reaches up with a lazy hand to flick the side of his face. "I'm- stop it, I'm just saying."
He can't see Will's face, but he'd bet good money that Will is rolling his eyes at him. "Yeah, yeah," he grumbles, and then, voice softening as his fingers find their way to Mike's waist and he begins tracing gentle circles into the exposed strip of skin there, "I missed you, you know."
He missed me too, Mike thinks, wildly, and it shouldn't please him so much, the knowledge that his boyfriend is just as deranged and insane and nonsensical about this relationship as he is, but it's oddly gratifying. He hugs Will closer, enjoys the steady weight of him against him as he asks, voice warm, "When did you miss me?"
Will shrugs, the grass shifting beneath them as he scoots closer and continues tracing his fingertips into Mike's skin. "I don't know, just- recently. It's stupid, I know."
"No," Mike says quickly, pressing a kiss to the top of Will's head, "No, I know what you mean. I- I miss you too, sometimes. Whenever you're not around."
Will lifts his head, peeking up at Mike with a shy smile. "Yeah?"
Mike laughs, a little incredulous and a little giddy and a lot in love. "Will, I just told you I loved you, like, ten times-"
"Three and a half, actually," Will points out, and Mike giddily thinks he's counting, "And- I mean, that's good. Not that you miss me, or whatever, but. Just, sometimes I think I'm going crazy about this, about you, and it's just nice that you-"
"Crazy together," Mike interrupts, reaching for Will's hand where it's still pressed against his side and lacing their fingers together. "Right?"
Will laughs, settling back into him and squeezing his hand. "Yeah," he agrees softly, the sound reverberating through Mike's ribcage where Will's face is pressed into his t-shirt. "Yeah, crazy together."
Mike smiles, running his free hand over Will's back and letting his eyes fall shut contentedly. It'll be dark soon - the sky is turning a fiery red color as the sun dips lower still in the sky, and Mike had sworn up and down to Hopper that he'd have Will home by ten, which is a ridiculous curfew but tolerable for the simple fact that it's Will, and Mike will take whatever snatches of time with him that he can.
"This was nice, by the way," Will murmurs into his shirt, as Mike's hand brushes through his hair again.
"What, the date?" Mike asks, and he feels it rather than sees it when Will nods, cheek brushing against him.
"Mhm," he hums, sounding just as contented as Mike feels. "Thanks for- yeah. Thanks."
"Anytime," Mike says warmly, as Will's breathing evens out and both of their eyes flutter shut again.
The air is warm and alive with the sounds of birds and crickets chirping. Summer is just beginning, and Mike, for the first time in a while, feels like he has time - time with this beautiful boy, and his friends and everything important to him. Here, in this empty field at dusk, everything has come to a standstill, and the neediness and desperation that's constantly clawing at him has subsided, overpowered by the feeling of Will wrapped around him.
Mike breathes a soft sigh of relief, and the sunlight washes over them.

smitten with you | mike wheeler
mike stood in the school's parking lot scratching his nose in an attempt to mask his annoyance. his friends had definitely stricken his last nerve as he waited patiently for the three idiots to finish their little snowball fight he did not want to be included in. as he stared at what little greenery there was left he noticed footsteps crunching closer and closer to him. he was relieved that he could finally get out of the cold. his eyes followed dustin as dashed right past him. just as he was about to speak his face was met by a stinging icy cold snowball that burned his eyes.
as mike blinked furiously he could hear the sound of loud laughter that felt embarrassing and he became flustered. his large fingers scooped up a giant snowball. “who threw that one?” all his friends stepped forward to reveal the culprit, the bookish and often sought-after girl. his cheeks became noticeably red to all including you. you held your hands behind your back in a mischievous way, this was a side of you mike never thought he would get to see.
the anger that mike previously possessed disappeared into thin air and his frown quickly grew into a smile. max elbowed dustin and doubled over in laughter, nearly tearing up,” his smile oh my god im scared.” mike ignored the redhead who had been bugging him ever since they met and set his gaze on you. his body language was much more playful now,” put your hands up and surrender.”
after an intense snowball battle that was sexually charged (mostly on mikes part) you found yourselves swinging side by side on the abandoned swingset you crossed your legs and held onto the cold chain. mike right next to you smiling like an idiot, on the inside of course. you hummed contently and swayed in the silence. your hands nearly numb as you watched the sun set so early. “a milkshake would be so good right now.” mikes ears quickly perked up,” we were actually thinking of going out to eat.. i know a great place if you want to come..” his words spilled like vomit. so desperate to meet your every demand even though it was odd to want a cold drink on such a freezing day.
your eyes lit up and your perfect lashes looked so much longer when your eyes crinkled into the cheery little smile you only gave when you checked out a new book from the library. (he knows you’re a sucker for teen romance and horror novels) you stand up from the cold swingset and make your way to the only path that was shoveled. “we better start walking if we’re going to make it before the sun sets.” your dainty hands fumbling with your coat buttons. your back towards him as you raised your leg warmers, your skirt hiking up to reveal your lack of underwear beneath your black see through tights. weren’t you cold?
giving michael an interesting view. “w-walk? i have a car.. it's the black one..” he quickly turned away he felt almost guilty to have caught a glance at your vulnerable area. his car was one of the only ones in the lot. you gasped in excitement,” no way.. i’ll race you there!” mike was taken by surprise as he found himself chasing you and winning by a longshot. you pouted and argued the only reason he won was because he had the legs of a giraffe and to which he denied insisting you were just short. with his car full he drove to the dinner that he’d never been to. (he may or may not have overheard his dad saying how he used to frequent the place as a teen... but he’s old as hell so how reliable could his opinion be?)
mike had an awfully hard time driving and it wasn't because dustin whined about not getting shotgun and you stupidly agreeing to swap places with him. mike stared at the rearview mirror every couple of seconds to ‘sneak’ glances at you. he felt his pants tighten as he watched you reapply your lip gloss in your compact mirror and take a glance at him back through the mirror for a split second. he nearly let go of the wheel. your perfectly plump lips forming a beautiful “o” he had only seen in his wettest dreams. his grip on the wheel tightened as he clenched his jaw. his knuckles white and burning. (if they can get any whiter lol)
in the diner, you ordered the group a booth, and mike immediately excused himself to use the bathroom in order to relief himself (in more ways that one) . mike couldn’t have gotten to the bathroom sooner he stared at his jeans in the mirror, they were so obviously stained. he figured he could play it off as a stain from the snow or a spot that hadn’t dried yet. his erection was too painful to ignore any longer and he had prepared himself for an all-time low. he locked himself in the large stall and practically ripped his jeans off and began stroking himself to the thought of you. the sight of your bare ass looking so good in your tights and your lips that he wanted to bite and leave scarring. he started stroking himself faster.
footsteps made their way to the bathroom as he tried his best to quietly get himself off to the girl that was only fifty feet away and that seemed so untouchable. the footsteps stopped in front of his stall and knocked loudly, “um it’s fucking busy! there are lots of mmm.. other stalls! fuckkk…” he whined and yelled simultaneously. the footsteps treaded away and he sighed in relief as he came all over himself. he panted and stood with his shaft out still clutching onto it, imagining it was you. your face burned into his head. he heard footsteps again but decided not to worry he was done.
the sound of a camera flashing above him scared him and he tucked himself back into his jeans and looked up to see you shaking the poloraoid. “w-what are you doing, (name)!” you gave him a sweet smile,” it’s so pretty and pink michael where have you been hiding him?”
tbc maybe 🧑🏽‍🚀 as always never edited but i’m gonna go back and redo my fics lmk if u liked this one !

The smell of rain filled the air as the downpour surrounded the area. The grass y/n stood on had quickly become damp as they stood there; bag over head, desperately looking around for cover of some sort.
By a stroke of luck they saw a dimly lit building. It looked abandoned to say the least. Y/n immediately started to run towards the building, their shoes squeaking against the wet grass. Once they were right outside they took a closer look at the sign. "Freddy Fazbear's", with some sort of bear wearing a top hat and bowtie.
What is this place? They thought to themself, subconsciously scanning the building for any other people. Nope, definitely empty... Empty with locked doors. Y/n sighed and started walking around the side, their clothes becoming soaked by the rainwater. Gross.
Y/n let out a sigh of relief upon seeing an unlocked door around the side of the building. They gently opened the door... (this was done on purpose, sorry ddlc fans)
The inside was dark. Very dark. Various tables and chair were scattered across the tiled floor, thy were dusty and unkept. Much like the arcade machines to the right side, untouched for what looked like years. At the very front of the room sat a stage, covered by a crimson curtain, though it was hard to see in the dark. What mattered was that it was somewhere to wait for the rain to stop.
They carefully took a step forward, looking around the room, eyes squinted. "Hello?" Seems like no-one's here. Y/n took several more steps forward, making their through the dark building; failing to notice a little pebble just waiting to ruin their day. Y/n yelps, being dragged down to the floor. "Ouch.."
They hold their knee for a minute before jolting up at the sound of a flashlight being turned on. The bright, headache inducing light pours down, illuminating them along with some of the hard-tiled floor around them.
They look up to see a man wearing a security jacket. Now I'm in trouble.
"Um.. Hello?" The man looked to be in his 20s. "Uh sorry, am I not allowed to be here…? They quickly stand up, pulling an arm above their eyes to avoid the light. “What are you doing here? This place is closed.” Just look at that short, brown, curly hair.
"Well, it was raining and I need to find somewhere to cover until it stops. Sorry, I'll go if I'm causing any trouble."
"No, no, you're good-" And gorgeous brown eyes.
He turns the flashlight towards the floor, giving them a half smile. "What's your name?" Oh, and that face... Y/n felt their heart melt at the sight, this guy is... Amazing! Wait, what did he say?
"I'm y/n! And yourself?" They smile at him. Trying to hide the blush creeping onto their face and trying not to get lost in his eyes.
He smiles in return, his brown eyes almost glowing in the darkness surrounding them both. "That's a pretty name. I'm Mike."
He pauses, his smile faltering slightly. "Hey, you look cold. Uh, here, take this." He says, unzipping his jacket and removing it, holding out to them instead. Y/n can't help it anymore, their cheeks glowing pink even in the dark. They take the jacket and zip it around themself. "Thank you, Mike... So, do you work here? I thought this place was abandoned."
“This place closed down in the 90’s.. but I'm the security guard. I just check in on this place after dark to make sure nothing bad is going on here.” That makes sense. If he's a security guard he must be strong. God, just look at him... I've never seen anyone so perfect before!
Mike must've noticed their eyes staring at him, he clears his throat. "So, I need to go check on the monitors and stuff, feel free to just sit in the dining room for a while. I'll be in the office if you need anything." He smiles back at them, now blushing a bit too. Probably from the attention he isn't used to. "Oh and one more thing,"
He pauses.
"Would you like to get coffee some time?"
AAHHHHH I'M SO SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG, MY MUM'S IN HOSPITAL AGAIN, JESUS. I'm sorry if it isn't very good, this is my first time writing for Mike :0

The secret of Leodership
I wanted Leo to have some fun
Ship: Leo x pun-loving!Reader
If you wish to be tagged in future (less puny drabbles) let me know lol
Enjoy or suffer :P
Tumblr media
The battle between you and Mikey began somewhere during the last round of Mario Kart. The pun battle. Raph quit immediately after with a pained: "Not this again!". Donnie held on a while but even he gave up your company. Leo on the other hand was still trying to brave it through it. The fearless leader. Your boyfriend.
"What do you call a fish with no eye," Mikey threw in another pun your way.
"A fsh, come on this one is so stale, you batter be bready to lose," you snorted.
"I am yeast to taste defeat!"
You glanced over at Leo who wore a face of pain and suffering patience.
"Hey, Leo," you leaned his way and he sighed deeply.
"Yes, my love?" he asked slowly. He knew what would happen next.
"Where does a turtle go when it's raining?"
"Home?" His voice was full of pointless hope.
"No," you whispered next to his ear. "A shell-ter."
Mikey behind you snickered. What you didn't expect was the snort coming from Leo. Your eyes widened and you shared a gleeful look with Mikey.
Leo turned his head away from you two, his hand covering his mouth and his eyes shut but his shoulders were shaking.
"Oh honey~" you sing songed.
"No."
"What does a ninja wear to work."
"Stop." He was crying from surpressed laughter.
"Close, it's sneakers." You grinned and without mercy continued. "There are two ninjas. The first ninja looks at the second ninja and says: 'Hey, can you hand me that throwing star over there?' The second ninja says 'shuriken!'"
"Please." He was on the floor, wheeze-laughing.
"Won't stop, can't stop. Did you hear about the pope that wanted to be a ninja? He was a blessing in disguise."
"Why?"
"Cause you pretended god knows how long to not like puns, this is your pun-ishment unless you join the dark side," you said. "Mikey?"
Mikey grinned. "The police got called to the monastery after a ninja was caught throwing people about. They commented: 'He was bad at hiding, but he was great with his nun chucks!'"
Leo inhaled deeply. "What- what did one ninja say to the other ninja after being shot by a arrow?
Your mouth fell open in a pure joy. "What?"
"HELP IVE BEEN NINJURED!" He wheezed again, holding his face.
"Bro!" Mikey threw his hands up in victory. "That was so bad!" He laughed and smacked his brother's shoulder. "Why didn't you say anything earlier!?"
"And ruin his pristine reputation?" You scoffed and giggled. "But why didn't you tell me?"
Leo took deep breath in, sitting on his heels. he rubbed his mouth to relax the muscles. "Your face just lits up when you tell the worst puns mankind ever heard and you look so cute, thinking you got me... I couldn't-"
"Aww, I'd say I'm-," you paused wiggling your eyebrows, "shell-shocked."
Leo coughed trying still to cover up his amusement but nuzzled you lovingly. "Terrible." He hugged you and you climbed his lap for cuddles.
"I'll leave you two pun-birds," Mikey winked at you and got up to find Raph to torment. Or Donnie.
"Thanks Mike," Leo sighed relaxing with you in his arms.
You kissed his cheek. "Hey, Leo?"
"Mhm?"
"Your body is 70% water and I'm thirsty, mind if I take a sip?" You snickered and he glared at you.
"If this means you're going to pun, while we're in bed I'll punt you out," he threatened but the fact he was smiling nullified it.
"Was that a pun?" You teased.
"You'll never know." He kissed your forehead. "But seriously- don't."
"No promises~"

"Wake up! Wake up!" A voice rung out, the rapping on my Guest Room in Oletus Manor woke me up from my peaceful slumber. I slammed a pillow on my face, closed my eyes gently and prayed that Mike would leave me alone. I had no idea what time it was, but whatever time it was... It didn't matter, let me sleep damnit!
"[Name]! It's Christmas!" My door swung open with the smell of gasses filling the room. Had he used his bombs on my door knob?! I sat up with my eyes glaring into his bright ones. His freckled smile holding an incomparable shine that rivaled any star.
"There better be a new lock in one of my presents." I frowned, crawling my way from under my sheets. Mike let out a playful laugh before closing my busted door, allowing me the privacy to get presentable for the day.
As I styled my hair the way I liked it, I couldn't help but throw in a Christmas accessory, just to make things for festive. With a smile, I got into my outfit of the day.
As I shoved my (now broken) door open, I noticed the change in the Manor's hallways. Tinsel lined the trimming of the walls intertwined with beautiful Christmas lights that twinkled with a small golden glow. I have a light gasp. Had the manor magically done this overnight? Or did someone really manage to decorate such a large mansion in one night?
"You know." Mike's voice pulled my attention from the lights onto him. He must've waited for me outside. He was leaning on a wall, with a reindeer antler headband that was somehow mixed into his curly hair and a festive Christmas attire to match. "They say Saint Nicholas goes around the world in one night. Do ya think whoever did this.. Wonderful Christmas decorations did this in one night too?" He winked playfully.
I rolled my eyes at his cheek and followed the manor hallway down, as I entered near the main courtroom.. There was so much going on..!
Emma, Tracy and Lily were all seen dangling off poor Leo who was struggling to raise the three playful girls off him. He was dressed as Santa, so of course they were more than happy to ask Leo what kind of presents he bought.
But the smile on Emma's face.
It lit up the whole room.
Naib and Ganji were about to St.- Start fighting? They had their hands up and all... Norton was currently holding bets with his hand up.
"We've got two on Subedar." I noticed William and Aesop perk up slightly. Naib shot a look towards Eli who gave a sheepish smile, gambling against his friend. How funny.
Melly, Alice, Orpheus and unsurprisingly Helena were all feverishly discussing some type of book that I noticed. They all spoke much quieter than the guys, so it was more difficult to pick up on the conversation but the cover read "The Little Match Girl."
Mike besides me ran towards a fellow group of blondes. Anne seemed hard at work along side an identically hard working Victor, they were feverishly wrapping presents for other survivors and a few for the hunters. A few toys made by Anne, telling from the beautiful paintwork on the wood and Victor would obviously deliver them... And Edgar who was doing a sketch besides them. All three of them kneeling on the ground to which Mike practically knocked those bowling pins go the ground.
I could always go find some other survivors.. Or find the Hunters instead.

In Leo’s humble opinion, the week's villains were getting pretty shelling pathetic.
“Afternoon, boys! Ritual, huh? How’s that working out for you?”
With a grunt, Leo caught the two robed figures he was facing with a kick to the chest, and they fell onto the mostly completed ritual in the shape of a pentagram, with candles adorning the star tips.
Honestly, it was a wonder they could get this organized.
“Sayonara, SUCKERS!”
Across the way, the moron who was the self-appointed leader (as far as Leo could tell) pointed at another duo and shouted, “Finish it, now! Quickly!”
One of the two lit the last candle, and a sizzling portal appeared. Leo had to fight the gut reaction to cover his face against a steel mech's spearing tentacle or sharp hand that would never come.
“Oh, crud!” Mikey exclaimed and held his nunchaku defensively.
“Man, get another gimmick! That’s my thing!” Leo called and launched a sword at the portal, which curved around it in an arc. In the blink of an eye, he was in midair, holding both swords again. Leo created his portal with his other sword, encompassing the red one before they both fizzled out of existence. A small… something tugged at his gut.
“Alright, Mike, say it with me: You’ve been portal-chopped!”
After a moment, he looked at his younger brother. “You didn’t say it.”
“Sorry!”
As Leo called them in his head, one of the Weirdo Wizards healed their hands out and, true to their name, began to presumably cast a spell.
However, they were still a Weirdo Wizard. The “spell” did nothing at all, rather dissappointingly.
“BOO!” Mikey exclaimed. “BAD SHOW!”
Leo’s communicator clicked on, and Donnie’s monotone could be heard over the slight static. “April’s headed your way! She got chucked!”
“Ten-four, good buddy!” Turning up to Mikey, still, at the edge of the small crater Leo was fighting in, Leo cupped a hand around his beak. “MIKE! ANY SIGN OF APRIL?”
Mikey squinted and used his hands to block the light from the streetlamps so he could see better. “YEP! OVER THERE!”
Leo followed Mikey’s pointed finger and spotted April’s tiny frame hurtling through the air.
"Yeesh," He winced. "I got her!" He swung a sword, and a portal nabbed April right out of the sky.
“Done and done,” Leo said into the comm. He thought it odd that she hadn’t reappeared, but who was he to judge his portals? Besides, if Donnie did record everything, they could find her in a pinch.
Someone yelled, and they both turned to the sound. Raph was standing over a robbed figure, their hood down. It was a middle-aged blonde woman with and sharp glasses, the type you’d see in a spy movie.
“DAMN IT! AGENT ONE!” she shouted, and the same guy that had cast the ‘spell’ whipped out a gun, and shot the ground by Raph, who jumped to avoid it with a squeak.
“Diversion!” Leo shouted, cupping his hand around his mouth.
“On it! Bringing the razzmatazz!”
Leo watched with tentative concern as Mikey used his mystic hands as he flipped over ‘Agent One,’ and his orange magic poured into the air.
At least his hands weren’t cracking, Leo reminded himself.
But before he could do much of anything with the aforementioned powers, the blonde sent a sharp kick to Mikey’s shell, and he crumpled forward, his hands going to cover his face on instinct.
A sharp scream reminded Leo with a piercing shock that Mikey’s powers had been activated. He swore, and ran towards his younger brother. He faintly registered Donnie striking the woman down with his staff, and Raph let out a second yell, this one more fearful and angry.
Leo tugged Mikey across the ground, and pried Mikey’s arms away from his face. Yellow-ish orange circles of magic tugged across the right side of his face, where his hands had made contact.
“Okay, this is fine, you’re good! You’re good, you’re fine,” Leo muttered, and dragged his sword through the air as Raph gently lifted Mikey. “We’ll meet you back at the Lair,” he explained, and Raph nodded, giving a reassuring smile as he stepped through the portal and it snapped closed behind him.
Leo turned back to Donnie, and saw his purple brother dodge a blast from a large gun that he would have invented. Leo wondered if he was bitter that these clowns had beaten him to the punch as he dodged a blast of plasma.
“Dude! How come you got to fight the cool guy?”
“You fought him too, if you remember…”
“Yeah, but then he was just waggling his fingers like one of those cosplay wizards April hates!”
“Tch. Skill issue.”
Leo swept under one of them, and used his sword to force the blaster up, and it ricocheted into the air, taking out a street light.
“Would you stay still?!” The man spat, and Leo shrugged.
“Never really been my forte, you know?”
Donnie smacked the gun out of the woman’s hand, and as she pulled out a knife, snarling, the blaster went off, heading straight for a nearby support beam.
“Oh, pecans… LEO!”
“On it!”
Using more effort than he could take comfort in, Leo sliced open two portals: One to catch the blast, and the other to redirect it.
Turning to Donnie, he called: “Time for us to go!”
“See you never!”
As Leo sliced open another portal, Donnie running backwards toward it, the blast touched down, and they were both shot backwards, all four of them letting out a yell.
The last thing Leo saw before the darkness kicked in was the blinding light, and the agents throwing themselves to the side.
A/N: I haven't written fanfic in a hot second, so I'm just getting back into the groove here, I hope it was enjoyed! More chapters are on the way!
