Honestly, the whole theory of RID 2015 Bumblebee originally being Smokescreen makes a little too much sense.

Smokescreen was introduced as a "hotheaded young upstart" considered worthy of Optimus Prime to consider him to be worthy of being a Prime (I think in-show, it's been a while since I last saw Prime). He's basically Cheetor without the beast alt mode in a way, in that he's the youngster character the kids are supposed to "relate" to, in that Hasbro did this with a lot of characters who AREN'T Bumblebee before the Bayverse movies (the aforementioned Cheetor, Nightscream, Hot Shot, etc). But Hasbro was too stubborn to turn away from their habit of shoving Bumblebee into everything Transformers related. I really think the creatives behind RID 2015 wanted to have Smokescreen as the main character of RID 2015 but were not allowed to by Hasbro, so they had to re-design Smokescreen into Bumblebee.

This is why it's a firm headcanon of mine

Thrill of the Hunt

There are different ways to teach a young beastformer how to hunt and every struggle that can come from it.

Take Dinobot, for example, sharp movements confusing his prey while he is only a distraction, searching out to the point Talon is supposed to emerge from, only to see the young bot jump before he was supposed to do so, startling the prey, his strange human form changing a bit to show his cybertronian frame, no sharp dentae or big claws to help, being easily ran over by the bigger prey and sustaining heavy physical damage, Dinobot doesn't cease his pursuit, looking at the sparkling for a second and even hitting him with his tail before disappearing in the vegetation, "Talon! Get back on your pedes and show the endurance of a warrior!" Talon can only try to get his face out the dirt, seeing his leg looking backwards, some wires are poking out, energon leaking in drops, still hearing Dinobot scream out to him to hurry up and return to the chase if he wants to eat something by the end of the day, Talon can only inhale deeply and close his optics, praying to Primus to help him guide his hand to try what he is thinking because the last thing he wants is to bleed to death, putting his servos on his pede before twisting it back, the whole jungle hearing metal being crushed and his shout of pain, some flying bots get startled by it.

Dinobot is hard with Talon because he cares, how is your sparkling going to survive if he doesn't teach him to hunt by himself?! Talon just wanted to go foraging that morning, now Dinobot has to search for a healer.

Take Cheetor for another example, looking at his sparkling, already a grown bot, such a big one while at it, he is quite bored if he is being honest, but it's obvious that speed isn't for Viperus, who likes to settle in a hidden place underground, he takes on his sparkling's preference, but when he sees the prey in front of him it's so hard to keep down, "When you see the prey you must act upon it fast, Viper!" It's what the great snake beastformer hears before he sees his sire run to the prey, snarling and also launching himself out of his hideout, using his massive tail to almost jump in the air, it's a great surprise to Cheetor just how big his sparkling is, big enough to open his intake and chew him and the prey together in one motion, Viperus has to stop, think for a moment and the next he is taking the cheetah out of his body, throwing up, "What in the pit, dad?!" Cheetor is drenched in drool, still, he looks at the prey next to him, then at Viperus, putting both of his paws on the big snake's face with a smile on his soft face while showing some sharp dentae, "You did a good job, Viper!" Cheetor let's his son take his bipedal form, two times bigger than him, and take the fruits of the successful hunt back home to you.

Cheetor is always supportive of Viperus in any way he can be, almost being a hyperactive cheerleader, Viper is just waiting for a prey to appear and his father to disappear because he wants to keep a mysterious guy persona.

Optimus, for a change, is an omnivore, he is happy to hunt sometimes to provide for his people, the younger ones taking on prey to keep growing stronger, but he prefers to simply consume fruit and some leaves rich in energon, Toshio isn't a beastformer and more than once Optimus has been worried for his son, how can he survive in Eukaris? Still, he doesn't give up, if there is something that Toshio has taken from Optimus is his will to improve and keep on, using tramps in order to catch prey and many other tools his father has taught him how to use and do, some tribe members are surprised when the whole hunt party returns empty handed and Toshio comes back alone and with little prey on his back, edible and medicinal plants on his hands that he dries under the sun, "I'll cook something later" he tells to the bots looking at him with surprise, later on sharing what he has caught equitably, Optimus can only laugh at his kid's actions and accept what he has recollected for him too, thinking once again that Toshio is going to be a great tribe leader in the future.

Optimus looks at Toshio with pride, something he knows you would also share if you were with them.

Fun fact. I've watched the entirety of Beast Wars and it ROCKED, okay, anyone who's been put off watching BW after seeing like, still images or the opening and thinking it's ugly, give it that second chance! It's so incredibly worth it. People really weren't kidding when they said it's one of the best Transformers shows.

Cheetatron drabble

Megatron pulled his lover close. His cheetah was so small compared to him that he could wrap his entire frame around his beloved in a protective embrace with little trouble. He so small. It was fact that used to fill him with a predatory delight and no small amusement but not now.

It had been an accident according to the maximals. Some wires got crossed which lead to a spark and then a raging inferno the team was forced to flee from. It had been his last act according to primal. Shoving the gorilla out of the way as a part of their base collapsed, trapping his sweet kitten. The danm simian claimed that he had tried to save him but the rest of the team pulled him away.

He had tried. He said. Megatron felt the tendrils of fury coil in his spark as white hot flames burned in his mind! HE SHOULD HAVE TRIED HARDER! Should have fought to save his comrad! The rest of the maximals should have done the same! Once they realized one of their own was missing one of them should have gone back in to save him! Instead those who had the nerve to call themselves his allies had abandoned him to a firey grave.

Regret mixed with his fury. He should have been there with him. Megatron should have never left his darling mate alone with the maximals he should have been there to protect him. Primus he should have never let his sweet spark return to those cowards in the first place. He should have kept him in the predacon base. Should have barrred him from ever seeing those horrid fools and instead horded him away for himself in his domain where his precious love would know nothing but megatron's love and care. But he hadn't and now,

All megatron could do was pull cheetor's lifeless, broken and burnt husk of a body closer. He should have done so many things for his darling but he hadn't and this had been the outcome. A snarl bubbled up in his throat. The maximals had left his kitten to burn. Megatron would repay his failure towards his live by making the maximals pay for theirs.

They would all burn.

Cheetor and a young!bot reader sneaking out to have some fun times, before being found out by the older Maximals and having to endure The Talk ™️

Play wrestling always seemed to turn into heavy petting when it was you and Cheetor, but you blame that on having way too many stimulated sensors. A common problem from growing into your processor's final stage. It's something you know that only Cheetor can help you with, being of similar age and experience. It would be too weird asking someone like Rhinox or Tigatron. You don't want some old bot touching you!

You didn't see the big deal, anyway. It's not like this is the first time you and Cheetor had 'explored' each other's arrays, and you knew the other Maximals were casually 'intimate' with each other. Frequently intimate, actually. So why was it so wrong that you and Cheetor snuck off to have fun?

You didn't even wander off and get distracted while you were supposed to be patrolling. It was all thanks to that rat, you shoot a hard glare at Rattrap, that you were now in trouble with Optimus. He was sticking his ugly nose where it didn't belong. You try your damnedest not to look like you're zoning out from his ongoing lecture, informing you of all the intricacies of interfacing and accidental sparkmerging.

The worst part is that they couldn't even let you get one overload in, caught right when you were about to probe Cheetor's leaking valve with a curious digit. Your spike aches behind your codpiece, charge long since died down, but you mourn the loss of precious time with your favorite cat. Maybe he'll be down to sneak out of the base later that night.

Cheetor sees Titania as an almost sort of maternal figure, but also as the only thing that sort of stops Dinobot from absolutely tearing into him when it comes to the consequences of his shenanigans and actions.

Titania sees Cheetor, as a mischievous but incredibly ambitious kid who definitely needs the right teaching to become something promising.
