now that the final acnh update has been out long enough for all the novelty to wear off, it’s time once again for me to list a bunch of hopes/wishes for future games (long post under cut)

everything should either be orderable or craftable. tired of furniture I don’t care about taking up space just because I might want it someday. at worst it should just require rare materials or cost a lot

tools don’t break anymore, but you can only buy plain tools. you can get DIYs for different themed tools like how acnh had a billion different wands you could make. all the recipes would be (plain tool)+(1 x crafting material). all gold tools have special properties again

rework wands so they don’t remove clothing from your closet and you can use the same clothing item in more than one wand outfit. you should be able to save hair, eye and skin customizations to wand outfits as well. only limitation is they should give you a warning if you’re about to take a clothing item out of your closet that’s part of a wand outfit. something like “if you take this item out, it’ll disappear from your saved wand outfits. do you want to do this anyway?” (yes) (nevermind). if you try to do something in a wand outfit that you can’t do, like enter the dressing room, the warning should give you the option right there to take it off instead of making you equip the wand, remove it and try again

bring back 4+ shop upgrades. final upgrade has a DIY section that sells standard DIY supplies (since gathering supplies is more annoying late game + you’ll have more money to spend) and a random daily selection of DIYs to help you get those last few you’re missing. always has one current seasonal DIY in stock

custom bulk purchases instead of only being able to buy 1 or 5 at a time. let us make a selection between 1 and however many we can afford

access crafting materials in your storage when crafting

go back to the old catalogue order limit which was 10 items twice a day (since the mail got delivered at 9am and 5pm) or no catalogue limits at all. 5 item daily limit ranks among my biggest gripes with NH

any new years furniture that has the year on it should have each number customizable so you can reuse it for future years. make a whole new years furniture set

first day of each zodiac is always a meteor shower (unless it’s on the same day as a holiday with fixed weather, then it gets postponed to the next regular day)

I like that nook’s cranny and resident services put out seasonal decorations, keep doing that

all buildings should have some level of customization after fully upgraded, even if it’s just being able to change the colours

have the option for more visitors to set up shop in town, but also have the option to kick them out and become random visitors again. sometimes it’s nice to have more buildings to work with, but sometimes they clash with your town’s theme. the selection of stuff they sell as random visitors is the same as if they set up shop, you just won’t see them every day

if Isabelle keeps doing announcements, have her acknowledge special NPC birthdays and mention if there are new seasonal items for sale on nook shopping. alternatively have her come out to celebrate minor holidays like in NL and have special NPC birthdays acknowledged in some other way (maybe villagers bring it up)

Harriet sells earrings and deluxe wigs (think the kind they have in pocket camp), as well as giving you unnatural hair, skin and eye colours. maybe you can apply patterns to your hair as well to give yourself multiple colours??? like how people use patterns in NH to give themselves eyebrows and freckles

Celeste comes out to celebrate predictable astrological events like blood moons and solar eclipses and teaches you a bit about them

NL had that locker in the train station that let visitors access their storage while visiting other towns. why did they get rid of that

bring back crystals from NL, those would’ve been great for the DIY system

don’t have a max cap on how many weeds can grow !! you made them so pretty then limited us to only 149 medium and large weeds because we’re supposed to hate them. beautiful town ordinance can have limited weed growth, but otherwise they should just take over if unattended to

if they’re gonna do free updates again, I want all the big features to already be in the base game. free updates should be things like new furniture and clothing being added. I liked that the holidays got added in updates so they didn’t all get spoiled right away, but other than that it should just be new items. I like what splatoon3 is doing, where every 3 months for two years they’re going to add new stuff. AC should take note and do like a “winter 20XX collection” type thing for updates. also silently add extra dialogue to all the villagers each update to keep them fresh

sorry for being a rando popping into your inbox but wrt your posts about smt5 and the acnh effect, as a lifelong fan of animal crossing i hard agree on nh and it's kind of depressing to see so many people say it's the best animal crossing when it isnt even CLOSE. id say the downfall of ac started with new leaf since thats when they started lobotomizing the villagers, but acnl actually had tons and tons of content that kept me playing for literal years. meanwhile with nh i only popped in to check out the new updates then stopped playing. i could write an entire essay on how they completely gutted the original tone that animal crossing had with its writing and overall vibes and basically sanitized a fun, unique quirky little game into being The Relaxing Game.

with smt5, i think the problem is something different though. if you read the interviews from very early in v's production, the devs mention things they wanted to be in the story--namely, they wanted v to touch on themes of extremism in modern society and how in the face of the world being on fire gen z and millennials feel utterly hopeless and like they have no future. none of that was in the final product. granted, i have very little knowledge of game development but since v was in production prior to and during the pandemic, i have a theory that there was meddling on the part of corporate that really messed with the development process with the pandemic on top of that. according to a friend of mine, someone data mined v and there were a ton of unused assets and concepts, which seems to support my idea that there was a huge shift mid development that squandered v's potential.

one thing though, is that new people getting into smt though v means that they're more likely to play the other games in the series and see what it's like when smt's potential is realized, whereas this doesnt really exist for animal crossing since animal crossing is generally the same all around where each smt game has a vastly different story and tone from the other games.

(i might be misinterpreting but one criticism i have of your addition to that one post if you describing this phenomenon as Kirby On The Switch when as a lifelong kirby fan the most recent kirby game was unironically a near perfect game and most people seem to be in agreement on that and it was clear that hal labs put a TON of love and work into making it. but sadly kirby and the forgotten land is an exception to what you were talking about on that post)

i wouldnt call myself a lifetime ac fan but i played the FUCK out of new leaf, i think i got it in 2014 and i have about 1000 hours in it, which is why i was so dissapointed with NH...and ive heard and understand peoples criticism of NL so it must be really really rough for old ac fans to see NH just double down on all that.

that's really interesting about smtv though, i hadn't heard that about the datamining and stuff? and i guess the original interview i hadnt seen because i wasnt into smt then LOL. i actually am gnna go look at that because it really does feel like a game that went thru development hell and had to rush things, i remember before release being really worried that we hadnt gotten any story trailers or english va announcements...esp since the game was announced at the same time as mario odyssey LOL

and yes thats very true that people might get into smt thru smtv. i definitely agree with that point but at the same time, someone is equally likely to not really click with it then drop it and not touch the series again... but well. not the point.

about kirby i was honestly thinking about that when i was posting it, i havent played the forgotten land but every kirby fan i know loves it (i was actually thinking of picking it up myself as a 3d platformer fan) so yeah i can def see how thats an exception. it is true that really good games with passion behind them still can come out which is really heartening, i wish it wasnt such a surprise when it happened!

but yes i think animal crossing really embodies this point. the way its become a cultural icon and people dont know what the series USED to offer so they think that NH is good and what they're all like is so dissapointing, especially as a life sim that youre meant to put tons of time into... it frustrates me to no end when i see people joking abt AHh i have no motivation to go back to my island its so much work i havent played in so long.. like this wouldnt have HAPPENED if the game wasnt shit!! i never had "no motivation" to play new leaf because it was an actual game and not a halfway between life sim and sandbox game that is the worst of both worlds! i checked in on new leaf EVERY. DAY. after school when i was in high school and id play for an hour each day. i dont think i missed a single day in maybe three years.

in new horizons i told myself id go back to it if they ever added cooking. then they added cooking and i went back to it and it sucked so i stopped playing again

there is literally no reason to play it other than customizing your island as a sandbox game but the sandbox elements are so fucking miserable to play that you have to be, excuse me for saying this, unemployed to actually find the time to make your island look good. the game coasted on the fact that it released right before the pandemic and everyone had the free time to play it.

recovery update (please read?)

OKAY OKAY OKAY I know most of you don't care but I do so SHUT THE FUCK UP.

today we had a pretty long conversation and it was really nice! i probably shouldn't get used to that... im only really going to text her one more time today and then probably spend the week... not doing that (i wouldn't but i already said i would and i don't want her to think im like dead or something!!!)

i never really thought about this until today, but i don't know if this "occasionally talking" thing I want should happen. im like obsessed with this girl! not in a creepy way, ive never like stalked her socials. she's just so fun to talk to, and if i allow myself to talk to her im never going to want to stop. i think she should just be the kind of person i text stuff like "happy birthday :)" or "merry christmas ☺️" or other things along those lines.

luckily the relationship ending isn't bothering me that much anymore! like ive said before, i never really needed to be in a relationship with her to enjoy her company or to love her. the relationship was really nice, and admittedly things going back to the way they were sounds pretty fuckin cool. but im okay with this. i just don't think im going to be completely okay with it if i don't let her live her own life and if i don't leave to live mine. god i hope she's not reading this. being friends sounds wonderful, but i just don't know if i can.

today while we were talking she asked if she could ask me a question. so obviously i said yes. but usually when she does that, it's for a serious reason. and that just scared me to death. if i wasn't doing this well in my recovery i would've had a fucking anxiety attack. i wasn't able to breathe properly until the moment had passed, and i just felt. dizzy. and my mind was running wild! it was all like "she's using that tone. this is serious. what if she's changed her mind. what if she decided she doesn't want to reconnect ever again? what the fuck will you do then?" and it just fucked me up. im okay now, but it's terrifying how a simple change of her tone can affect me. and i just cannot be around that until im fully recovered.

and even though my recovery is going well, that's going to take a long time. the simple changes of her tone terrify me, and the thought of simple phone calls with people who aren't family is enough to make me hyperventilate. this whole situation has seriously damaged me. and i don't think i can be around that, i don't think i can be around her until this damage that has been done is repaired. so maybe instead of waiting a week, i should wait until these fears are gone.

on another, more lighthearted note, i have not stopped the self-care challenge. im still going strong (although im running out of things im allowed to do...) and it feels great! I'm replaying a game I adore (NSR), I reset my island on ACNH (i wasn't aware i was a boy when i started that one, that's why) and i just took a bath. overall, im doing well! thank you for reading and caring <3

Since it’s their birthday here are some of my Headcannons for Dex and Daina! I will add more if I think of any.

I have more for Dex than Daina but here we go.

- Dex smells like a mixture of midroased coffee and pine nuts (Lupin himself said this one).

-Dex loves space. Anything to do with the stars and moon fascinate him. He gets excited if he hears there’s gonna be a meteor shower or form of eclipse.

- Daina on the other hand is more fascinated by weather.

- Dex’s favorite cake flavor is lemon.

- Dex is bisexual (also confirmed by Lupin)

- his favorite color is yellow.

- He Can come off as intimidating and cold at first glance but I swear he’s just a shy boy with a resting b1tch face.

- Dex Does not know how to talk to people. Unless you initiate a conversation with him he probably won’t talk with you unless he gets to know you really well. Then a whole another side of him opens up. He’ll be playful, and if he REALLY trusts trusts you, maybe even quote memes from time to time.

- He is very loyal. Like the most loyal person you’ll ever meet. If you befriend him he’ll be by your side unless you betray him or discard him.

- Dex is extremely protective. If someone hurt a person he cares about he is fwacking SCARY. He normally hates confrontation, but in these cases he will not hesitate to fight them. He would probably put the person in the hospital no lie, by the time he was done. (Depending on the seriousness of said situation).

- Speaking of this Dex also has abandonment issues. He struggles with it a lot. He’s so used to always being “the second choice” for say, or being left behind or left out.

- Dex is very proud of Daina but often feels overshadowed by her. He doesn’t let that get in the way of the fact he loves her though.

- (also should throw this out there for this blog but I see Dex and Daina as siblings, however you see them though is fine, just my HC)

- Dex prefers coffee over tea. He loves Starbucks. Anything caramel.

- Dex’s favorite restaurant is Chipotle. If Chipotle is not an option then anywhere he can get a steak or nice burger.

- he hates Subway. Just thinks it’s gross.

- Diana’s favorite is anything Chinese or Japanese cuisine.

- Dex loves a lot of Nintendo games like Mario and Smash, he also loves Pokémon. He also loves fandom ones like Undertale and Five Nights at Freddy’s. Meanwhile Daina enjoys simulation games like Sims, Stardew Vally, and Animal Crossing.

- Dex and Daina both play Animal Crossing together religiously. Like a daily thing. When the ACNH update dropped early Dex nearly fainted from excitement.

- Speaking of Animal Crossing, Daina has a beautiful 5 star island while Dex has like a 2 Star with items everywhere because he doesn’t have the inventory space yet. He will get there though and is determined.

- they are both closeted furrys. You can’t change my mind. Not to like the extreme where they would want a full blown fur suit but very subtle with their cute ears and tails.

- Dex actually does have sharp canine teeth on the top. Two lil cute fangs that show most when he’s laughing or scheming.

- Daina is dating Ruby in my HCs. They are so wholesome to me.

- Dex and Daina have a “friend squad” they hang out with, if you will. Piko, Flower, and VY2 Yuuma often hang out with them. Along with Ruby too.

-Dex’s best friends are Yohioloid and Kaito

- Dex is a very good cook while Daina is a “throw it in the microwave and call it a meal” kind of person.

- Dex literally has to force her to eat some days because she forgets.

- nothing pisses Dex off more nowadays than beef jerky prices.

- If Dex sees a dog every fiber of his being screams to pet it IMMEDIATELY.

- Dex is allergic to cats. He’s a dog person anyways.

- Daina is indifferent. She loves all animals. Anything she can “boop”.

- the weakest part of Dex as a performer is his choreography. He can’t dance to save his life. He makes up for it with his voice. He just doesn’t have good coordination.

- Daina on the other hand is the full package, being very skilled in dance and of course singing.

- Dex hates Fukase. They just don’t vibe well and clash.

- both Dex and Daina are terrified of spiders. Understandable.

- Dex is tall, about 6’1. Lanky boi

- He gives the best hugs. If you are lucky enough to receive a hug from him get ready to melt. His arms can reach all the way around you and he holds you just tight enough to make you feel his emotion. AHHH

- Daina isn’t one for physical affection. Unless she knows you really well.

Nintendo Direct thoughts 😎

Love the updated look of Yoshi’s Tropical Island, it’s cool to see N64 boards not being completely flat (let’s just hope Toadette and Bowser won’t be swapping spots every five seconds like in the original lol)

And Bowser kicking Toadette’s little stand thing is funny – there seems to be a lot of personality to the animations in this game and I’m loving that

I was hoping for Western Land because that’s my mum’s favourite board, but it wasn’t meant to be 😔 I’m still very happy with what we’ve got (It’d be cool if there was DLC later on though!! There probably won’t be, but it’s not completely impossible!)

It’s SO COOL to finally see a 3D Kirby game!!! I’m really happy that HAL ended up finding a way to make 3D Kirby work, they experimented with it a bit with Blowout Blast and now we’ll get to see that evolved into a full game! And I think this is the first time they’ve had copy abilities in 3D?? Rolling around with Needle looks really fun, and I’m sure all the abilities will be super fun in 3D

I love the recent Kirby games, but I was hoping that they’d go a completely different direction for the next one, just to spice it up a bit, and I sure got that wish!!

I love the setting as well – a super colourful post-apocalyptic type of thing... Perfect for Kirby, while also having some unique settings you normally wouldn’t see in a Kirby game! At first glance I actually thought it was Mario Kart, because the escalators reminded me of Coconut Mall lol. We don’t typically have Kirby exploring these sorts of abandoned buildings!

I wonder if it’ll have something to do with Shiver Star... 🤔 We all know how Kirby loves its lore, as well making deep cuts in its references to previous games, so I wouldn’t be surprised! Even if it’s just a reference in a pause screen description!

The setting really reminds me of Planet Robobot, but kind of the opposite? Instead of a natural place being mechanised, it’s a industrialised sort of place being abandoned and overrun by nature... I’m sure the antagonists of the game are gonna be really really interesting, whoever they may be

Now I’ve got two things I’m immensely looking forward to in Autumn next year (Spring for northern hemisphere): Moominvalley season 3, and Kirby and the Forgotten Land... it’s gonna be a good good time for me lol 😄

And a snow course!!! I remember being a bit disappointed when you couldn’t play the snowy holes of Bowser Highlands from the story mode in regular gameplay, it’s always just the lava version. This isn’t those same Bowser holes (...😳), but I’m still happy!

Will someone play N64 Mario Tennis and/or Golf with me online 👀👉👈 I actually didn’t play much Mario Golf N64 as a kid (unlike Toadstool Tour), but I played SHITLOADS of Mario Tennis N64 (along with Power Tennis)

And now, the elephant in the room

I don’t know shit about celebrities, but those Mario movie casting choices seem... interesting 🤔 I understand that Charles Martinet’s not gonna be cast in a main role in a huge Hollywood movie, but still, it’s kinda sad because I literally can’t imagine anyone else voicing Mario (assuming that he’s an animated cartoon character and not live-action)

I’m willing to give these actors a chance though – maybe they’ll actually do a good, if very different from what we’re used to, job (As far as I can tell, Mario’s the main one that people have significant issue with)

It does kinda annoy me when big celebrities are cast in animated movies/shows over voice actors (not that it’s always bad – not to bring up Moomin again lol but I’d say that Moominvalley is an example of doing it right) But when it’s done wrong, it just seems like they care more about the marketability of the movie than actually making it as good as possible

And finally, I’ve never played a Bayonetta game, but it’s one of those series that I just appreciate from the sidelines, so I was still very happy to see it show up at the end there

Bayonetta is an icon of our times and I love her (even if I don’t know much about her)

All in all, a pretty incredible Direct! Lots of great stuff! Though I may be biased due to Kirby lol

ive made a few of these bingo sheets and theyre fun so i decided to make one not just for e3 but also JUST for splatoon 3 (not just for e3 but for like the whole lifetime of the game). also heres my updated list of characters id like to see in smash, ordered generally by which id like more and/or think are the most realistic

since min min got in i took out helix, and since i couldnt decide whether to add in waluigi or madeline i added another row (realistically i dont think any indies are getting in but i threw some in anyway). also i was like “oh yeah maybe theyd put in a gen viii pokemon” so i threw in hatterene since thats one of my favorites.

also as for waluigi (and shovel knight for that matter) i think it would be nice to see an assist trophy get in just to break that rule. also i remember being super surprised he wasnt in brawl (back then i thought he and wario were equally important) and even though that was based on a wrong impression ive still felt like he should be in there ever since

really is about time for those n64 games, especially now that mario is dead so theyre free to release sm64 on it. game boy games would be nice sometime too

would also make sense to include banjo-kazooie in that, nintendos had a good relationship with microsoft lately and the total absence of anything banjo-kazooie on the switch is odd since it’s a dlc character (every other one has a game on switch they can use for cross-marketing, even if joker’s took a while) and i think the best explanation for that would be that theyre holding off for the nso n64 app (this is easiest from a technical standpoint because all they have to do is make a deal to use the roms)

xenoblade chronicles x is one of the only wii u games left that they could port (aside from ones that wouldnt make much sense like splatoon and ssb4) so i guess that might as well happen sometime. also monolith soft might be doing something else besides helping with splatoon 3

im not ready for metroid prime 4 (im over halfway through mp2 and therefore the trilogy as a whole) but it’s been a while, they might show it and it could even come out this year

the upgraded switch is obviously going to be called the Nintendo Switch ͥ  since they already did the ds lite so theyre clearly naming everything in the family after the ds family, theres absolutely no flaw in this logic. idk if theyre showing it, but unlike 2019 they didnt say they werent showing new hardware (just that they were showing software, which could be taken as denying rumors, but they sometimes specify when certain things arent being shown)

metroid prime trilogy also might come this year. would make sense to release it before mp4 since not everyone is going to buy a wii u to get it (and at this point that doesnt get nintendo any money since they stopped making them)

where is detective pikachu 2. i hope it has the blue pikachu from that first tease they gave us in like 2014 (2013? that was a loooong time ago idk)

they said this was MOSTLY 2021 so i am absolutely getting my hopes up for splatoon 2

i held off on watching a playthrough for ndrv3 on the off chance it came to switch and i could play a dangan ronpa game for real for once but it’s now been 4 years and we just passed the 10th anniversary of the series (albeit during a pandemic when i wouldnt expect them to have done anything) so it would be cool to see the series come to switch. i think if it still doesnt after this though i’ll just watch the playthrough, 4 years is long enough. amazed ive avoided spoilers this long, i still know next to nothing about the game

remove splatfest tee annoyances: you should have a prompt at the end of a splatfest to pay to scrub your tee (to make sure you get the chunks) also it should be on a neutral brand so you dont end up with an overabundance of ink resistance up (or whatever else)

better online and cloud saves would certainly justify having a second splatoon game on the same console, as much as im loving that it exists

i wish acnh had some of the same stuff pocket camp does. although pocket camp is quite literally a cash grab, it's slightly better than acnh in comparison. it's kind of embarrassing that a mobile game is doing more than the video game that was constantly hyped up and we waited a while for.

i like that pocket camp has mini games, that the villagers can interact with objects and every interaction comes with an animation, that there are a variety of items and clothing, and having to do things for your villagers.

don't get me wrong, there are also a ton of things in new horizons that i like. but i hate how boring things get when you're practically finished with the game. i think there should be more things to do in new horizons. i'd like to play mini games, invite villagers to my house, expand the island, obtain different clothing/items/furniture sets that aren't just recolors.

i also think there should be more ways to interact with villagers. i'd like to have more conversations with them, different conversations. and i think it would be nice to do things with them like real neighbors.

like what if we could actually host game nights or deliver groceries for them?? do activities together?? go on early morning walks???

overall, i just feel like there are a lot of things new horizons is lacking. it'd be nice if they'd step it up a bit and it's a shame that the mobile game is so much better. hopefully there will be better updates soon.

UPDATE: So, its been a long, long, journey. I can happily say that I am mostly recovered. Struggling with anxiety and dp/dr this past year - I persevered and beat it! Life is pretty much back to normal. The first step with recovering for myself, to acknowledge that it is okay to struggle with mental health issues such as anxiety. To treat yourself with kindness, to relax and love life again. Learning to self love was also a big one for me. You can still be a strong person even if you are having mental health struggles. I am also connected to myself and my environment. Medication and the right support system helped a lot, it gave me the strength to not give up.  I learnt more about dpdr, trauma and anxiety. Dpdr is Depersonalisation/derealization. This is a type of dissociation in which you feel disconnected from yourself/others. One of the causes of dpdr is that its a response to trauma, experiencing an overwhelming situation which you cannot fully process emotionally or physically. So then you dissociate from your external environment. It's part of the 'flight and fight' response but there's also a third, called 'freeze' This is when an individual's nervous system is sensitized and believes there's no escape(flight) nor any way to fight back, so you are triggered into freeze mode. For some people, this can lead to dpdr. There are many types of dissociative disorders, such as dissociative identity disorder where it’s developed due to trauma. There is a dissociative spectrum with different disorders and severity of its effects. I don’t know much about the other disorders, nor have enough knowledge to comment on them. I am just focusing on dpdr as it’s something I struggled with. Fortunately for myself, it took a lot less time to achieve a sense of normalcy.  Check the links below for more detailed explanations! 

Your body and mind can heal, and things can go back to normal - just give yourself the time, be understanding of your self and try not to overwhelm yourself :')

I started many different hobbies to try and build myself up! I tried music production and made a couple of songs, which I'm proud of and still listen to. I tried learning languages. Focusing back on Spanish and French, I used websites like memrise! I started writing to help myself emotionally process the past year and vent - although that had to stop because I got hacked lol. (Then, got accused of hacking which made it weirder) So, back to writing paper, and maybe someday i can buy a type-writer or something like that. I checked ebay and some are being sold for £30-40 so hmmmmm, tempting tempting. Gaming has also been a really relaxing distraction from daily stresses. I started playing animal crossing new horizons again and re-terraformed my whole island. I also stuck to a theme for my island 'cottagecore' apparently its a really common theme and overused in the acnh community, but sucK it, i love it. Also it was entertaining going on Nookazon daily; I have been trading with other players and visiting other islands.

It was faster to recover from anxiety and dp/dr by just continuing my day and plans as normal, even if it did make me anxious. If you're struggling similarly. I really would recommend to still do things, like go out with friends, go shopping, embrace hobbies, visit places you haven't been to before, and make new memories. Just make sure its balanced and you're not overwhelming yourself too fast - so take one step at a time. If you feel uncomfortable meeting with friends, try texting, calling, then build up to meeting them at a safe place and etc. Start in a safe place and slowly build up out of your comfort zone, no matter how long it takes, its worth it. To start living again, rather than just giving up and distracting yourself with constant superficial gratification. 

Also another tip or advice: be aware of who you're surrounding yourself with. The people that you have in your social circle can have an effect on your mental health, if they are stressing you out or hold no positive influence over your life - just be aware of the hold it may have on you. Put yourself first and come back when you're ready. And if you feel like you have to cut people off for a while or permanently, I would say do it. Protect your spiritual energy. And, for yourself, be aware of what you're putting out energy wise and the influence you have on others. It can effect the people you love and care about.

As cliché as it sounds life does get better. I have changed for the better, I feel more 'grown up' and ready to handle new responsibilities. I am more aware of my boundaries and my limitations with others. I can forgive and let go. I'm content not going back to people who have hurt me or who I have hurt. Sometimes its just for the best. I take accountability of my own self too and where I have personally gone wrong. Knowing which areas I need to grow in is important for self growth. No individual is perfect, and at some point we do hurt others or get hurt ourselves. I am grateful that I have the ability to learn from my own personal mistakes and can avoid having an victim complex.

Cool changes for this year: I'm planning to get a car soon. I've made a bucket list for 2021 and things I want to do/explore. Camping. Holiday. Keep learning languages. Date ideas. Other fun activities. Try a different job to build experience. Maybe get a tattoo? also, also, figuring out uni stuff for second year :)<3 

To anyone else that is struggling with mental health or is not feeling the best, I believe in you. I hope you get better, there are going to be good days and bad days for everyone. Healing is not linear, so treat yourself with kindess and love. I can't imagine what youre going through but I can understand. You're brave, strong and Ily. Thank you for reading <3

       -- SINCE december, i’ve started college ! ! the saving up year of college at least, bc the college i’m in has this thing where if we don’t have enough money to pay for the tuition fee ( which rly is just, money for us to spend throughout our first year & our trips & other expenses like food or gasoline ) we can join the saving up year & they’ll give us a job to earn the money. & while i was a bit more free before, they finally found a job for me at the canteen, which means i’m off cooking with the head chef for literally the entire day for the whole campus-- which is largely the reason i haven’t written much or said anything here ! !

      -- I’M trying as hard as i can to manage my time better in order to not be so tired / drained at the end of the day, in order to try to write something here or spend time with closer rp friends, but between moving to a new place ( since i’m living in the campus now, which is in a whole different country to where i was ! ) & getting used to the job & getting to know my teammates / classmates that i’m gonna be working with the next four+ years, it’ll take me a lil’ bit longer to try to get this blog up & running again.

       -- TIME to promote the college i’m currently studying at ! ! or am gonna be studying at in september, at least ishuegrdfmkcvx. the college is DNS Necessary Teacher’s Training Programme, & it’s a college dedicated to training teachers ! ! honestly i’ve only been in the campus for a month now, & from the chats i’ve had with people from other years & from graduates & from my teammates in general, i can already tell it’s gonna be a worth it sort of experience. in their own words, we’re all not looking to be the ‘ traditional ‘ type of teachers, & are learning by experiencing & travelling-- the first year we travel to africa, & in the second year we ( your school year team ) picks a country in europe to live in & work in ! ! 

       -- IF you don’t have enough money, that’s alright ! you can join the saving up year, & earn the money here yourself ( & in the chance you don’t make enough, the team is here to pay the difference if we can ). if you’re worried you’re too young or too old for the programme, let me just tell you that in the 2021 school team ( the year i’m in ) the ages range from 18 to 27. if you’re worried about previous experiences, just know that this my first time in a college or even getting a job, & we’re all ! ! willing to help with anything as a team. all you really need is the drive to be committed to the programme & to the team-- because you are going to be busy almost all day, & it might get tough to deal with sometimes, & you need to know what you’re comfortable with or are not comfortable with doing.

       -- I was very nervous before coming bc rly, i’m an introverted fool that still doesn’t know what i want out of life even though i’m 21 & should know at this point, & even had a breakdown the first night i got here bc i was in a new place on my own & didn’t know what the fuck i was getting into & was so afraid of disappointing everyone, but god everyone here is super welcoming & understanding about everything. since the month i’ve been here, i’ve made friends that also very much love anime, have found out that sexuality ( or the lack thereof ) is openly discussed & accepted, there’s a D&D group & there’s just, a bunch of creativity everywhere. & yeah, it can be overwhelming sometimes, but there’s always someone in the team who would be willing to spend time with you & to help you out with whatever you may need, because in the end we’re all dealing with the same things. i’ve even gotten along with people from other school years ( that started their studies in 2020 or 2018 ), & honestly you can’t even tell they’re in a different year at times bc everyone is always so kind & open about everything.

     -- I’M not gonna lie, i’ve only been here a month for the saving up, & so far all of this feels like a real life acnh adventure, where everyone in the team is the mayor. wild comparison but everyone is so welcoming & we all live in the campus & see each other every day, that it really feels like interacting with other villagers & the money we make goes to maintaining the college / the community / our team, so it very much feels like i’m the mayor / mc in anch trying to decorate the island / make it better idK

life update + recent accomplishments, among other things

hello friends! it’s been a while. sorry for being gone for 2 weeks! ;-; i’ve been super busy and a lot has happened. here’s what i’ve been up to!

school life

SURPRISE!! i’m a grad student now :D

i’m working on my (online) master’s degree in teaching for elementary education!

“but what happened to music? isn’t that what you studied in undergrad?”

i’m currently taking a bit of a detour in my career path. it’s quite hard to find a job in the music industry these days. after being a substitute teacher for a few months at the beginning of this year, i found that i enjoyed working with students, especially young ones. i realized that i have the potential to become an elementary school teacher, so i thought to myself, “hey, why not give it a try? i can always change my mind later if i don’t like it.”

“which university are you attending?”

since my program is entirely online, i will not be revealing the university for personal reasons. perhaps i’ll reveal it when i graduate! thank you for understanding :’)

“will this blog become a gradblr?”

not 100%, or at least not anytime soon. i’ll still be primarily posting and reblogging studyblr content, but i may incorporate gradblr content from time to time as i see fit. we shall wait and see!

work life

yes, i’m still working at my business-related job! i can’t believe it’s already been one year since i first started. time flies!

i’m happy to have become one of my managers’ most trusted employees, and i now perform a lot of managerial tasks and help train new employees. i hope i can continue to work hard and make them proud! ^_^

as for substitute teaching, i haven’t taught ever since the pandemic started, so...i’m in teaching limbo right now. i’m still waiting for updates, and i have no idea when i’ll get to teach again. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

love life?

after almost 2 years, i finally have a crush on someone!

he is a Soft Boy™ and i really, really like him a lot :’)

how we met: we were coworkers! he resigned a few months ago due to personal reasons, but we still keep in touch.

we’ve been emailing each other back and forth for the past few months. it’s a little old-fashioned, but we both feel that it’s the best way to express everything we want to say to each other. modern love letters, i guess?

we both like a lot of the same things, especially kpop and simple things that make us feel warm and cozy~

he likes to tease me and make me blush all the time!! >.<

but most of all, i like how kind, sweet, caring, and supportive he is. even with all of his imperfections, he’s always there for me, and i’m there for him, too. ^_^

i haven’t told him that i like him, but i’m pretty sure he knows because i’ve been dropping hints everywhere lol.

one time when he went for a run in the evening, the sky was pink, and he said that he thought of me. ;-;

i’m still recovering from that message. THIS IS TOO MUCH FOR MY HEART TO HANDLE!!

nct 2020? extraordinary. i still can’t believe there are actually 23 members! but i love them all, and the two newest members are pretty cool~

my language studies are going to be put on hold for a while now that i’m back in school. i might be able to squeeze in some korean and japanese here and there, but it won’t be much. :/

i still play animal crossing! i’m very excited for all the fall and halloween stuff :D

i am doing my best to stay healthy and safe during this time, and i hope you are, too!

Scorpion Island!

So in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, tarantula island is pretty much the perfect way to make money (via Nook Miles Tickets). I hadn’t looked into the differences between North/Southern hemispheres, and turns out, the tarantulas don’t appear in the Southern Hemisphere until May. This means that we actually can’t get a tarantula island until May. Instead, we have scorpions! Hadn’t seen any videos or information related to a Scorpion Island so I rocked up to this island that looked pretty empty. Until I saw 3 scorpions out of nowhere lmao. 

The island is pretty much a square with money rocks (I got roughly 60K from the rocks alone). There’s a big open area with each corner a risen triangle (I did see a scorpion spawn up there, in which they tried to jump off to get me but clearly just died faded away). 

The scorpions can also appear on the outer beach zones (and can also run into the water). So if the middle area appeared empty, I’d wander to the shore and find them usually along the beach. Like tarantulas, they spawn after 7pm so try using your ticket after then! 

Obviously filled my inventory (even dropped all my equipment (kind of forgot to leave my turnips at home)). It’s 12am now so I’ll update the post with how much bells I got from the store in the morning!

So yeah!! Just thought I’d spread this information that a Scorpion Island does actually exist in ACNH. Hope this helped anyone ♡

Things I would change about ACNH if I could, part 2!

Okay, okay. The first one in here X I have more things I want to add to the list. Also, there is a new mario update!! I'm so excited for it. That is one thing I love, is that there is always new updates to the game and almost always a happening!!!

1. Angled staircases. You can have angled bridges in the game, but staircases can inly be straight forwards or sideways. My island would look stunning if i could have to option to angle them!

2. Angled arches. Again, the same with the staircases.

3. I wanna be able to hold a small popsicle and smoothie drink like the islanders and just sit down and enjoy my life. It would be cool if they added that to the game.

4. Maybe on the board where they list todays hot items, there could also be a listing over that days turnip prices. It's sometimes annoying to go inside in the shop to ask for it.

5. I'm gonna say it again, even though I said in the last post. Not all of us have more than five different friends that plays the game and I want the special teams in different colours I can buy with my nook miles.

6. Venus combs should be more common.

7. There's three different kind of woods; soft, normal and hard. I wish we could get equal amount of the woods somehow. Because now I have an abundance of soft wood in my storage and nothing of the hard wood.

8. I wish we could place trees all the way to the edge of a cliff. I'm content with the spacing of them, but sometimes it's annoying. Same goes for water. Sometimes I feel like it would be nice to have a tree standing right at the lake side.

9. Brushes should always be in season. I would love to have flowers on all of my brushes on my island so they could always match my flowers and decorations.

10. There is so many special items, like east-asian inspired temples, a sales vagon with wheels and so much more that takes a long time for me to get. Maybe because I always play single player, but it kind og sucks

11. Arcons and mushrooms should be available for a longer time.

12. flowers should be able to grown on the beaches. I hate when I run over them and have to plant them on the grass for them to grow again.

Things I’d like to see in ACNH updates

More items (obviously) but not just event/premium/subscription stuff, things everyone can enjoy because let’s be honest, base game items (not including colour variations) are pretty thin on the ground

More items you/villagers can interact with — dip in the hot springs anyone?? 😀

To be able to give one of your custom designs to a specific villager (sometimes you don’t want everyone to be able to wear it)

The option to move the Resident Services building for those of us with OCD over symmetry and want it to line up with the entrance from the airport 😩

To be able to add things to a basket in the Able Sisters fitting room (sometimes I want all the colours but can only wear one at a time!!)

Bushes, or at least some kind of hedge fence? Preferably with flowers you can customise the colours of 😊🌺

Different placement options for wearing flowers (hair, lapel, wrist...)

The ability to sit down on the ground like the villagers can

Maybe even the ability to lay on your stomach with your chin propped up in your hands? 🥰

Toggle on/off option for natural edges to custom paths in Island Designer

A way to invite a villager over to your house (not where they ping you and ask to come over right this second, that’s just annoying)

Maybe even the ability to arrange little get togethers with 2 or 3 villagers — not necessarily just at your house, could be a picnic, a trip to the museum, or just a stroll around the island as a group

More variety in the things villagers can say to you (seriously, the conversation repertoire got old on like day 1)

More villager quests/mini games/challenges/variation in the Nook Miles + tasks

A separate storage space for crafting materials!!! (I have a 5 room house now and I’m STILL having to bargain with myself over whether crafting materials or clothes get priority... my island is a MESS as a result 😩)

Less difficulty getting hold of the other fruits and basic colours of flowers — I must have gone to a hundred mystery islands now (not literally but close to) and all I’ve seen are pears (my island is peaches) tulips (my native) and windflowers (can get in my shop)

More plants!

The ability to water indoor plants on floor and table level (no reason, would just be cute 🥺)

More pro design templates!!! I don’t want to have to choose between a dress with long sleeves OR long skirt, and the option to do swimsuits and bottoms so you can mix and match custom outfit elements would be AMAZING

More consumables (ice cream, coffee, sweets... omg imagine if you could craft a cake or a pizza and share it in pieces with friends/villagers)

Brewster!!! But not running just a coffee shop this time — I think it’s time he expanded and hired someone to provide baked goods too!

I wish the campsite visitor could come out of their tent and actually experience/interact with the island/villagers 😔

Swimming!! I miss diving for creatures and meeting Pascal bobbing around

But also it’d be super fun if we could put special items on the water like furniture, such as lilos, rubber rings, a bouncy castle or inflatable island..!!

Some kind of secret hidden area you have to find/do things to unlock, like sea cave/grotto you can only enter from the mysterious rocky back end of the island and occasionally gets a special visitor... 🧜🏻‍♀️

harsh new horizons rant

- the soundtrack is the worst in the series (i get this is highly subjective bc well its music, but i have seen a lot of ppl unsatisfied w this ost) & i wish there was some way we could change soundtracks to ones from older games. hell, id even be willing to fork out a few dollars for that. ive been playing since launch day & off the top of my head the only song i remember is the title song, i havent played ww/cf in years & i still remember basically all of the ost

- as an og fan it is frustrating to have to wait for all the same old stuff to get added back, it feels much more beneficial to new players than people who have been longtime fans. for a new player, who has never seen katrina or jack before, they will feel new & unique, for me its just something that should've been there all along, "finally at last they added this" rather than "oh cool this is new" for me. i dont care if this is "just how games are now", "but you would've had to wait longer for a full game", & "at least it isnt like sword & shield", it still sucks, plain and simple

- the villagers in terms of dialogue somehow have less personality than new leaf. we desperately need a QOL & villager update before anything else imo, the relationships & bonds u make are supposed to be a core part of this game but it feels so empty rn

- bc of how watered down the dialogue is, & how little there is to do, it honestly feels like the game was designed to be a decorating game above all else now, like you're *supposed* to share on social media. its kind of sad how the instagram trend of having the prettiest x has infected even animal crossing now, it was definitely there from the new leaf days but the community has definitely gotten worse due to how much of a global phenomenon new horizons has become. not saying this is a fixable issue, its just something suck-y that happened, not like the devs can do anything abt it, this is just how i feel

- it sucks we have had no new animal species & only like 5 something new villagers, i was hoping for something big, more personality types, hell maybe even an overhaul of the personality types so they're more individualistic, but nope. the villagers, the bonds u make, r supposed to be a key part of this game. making friends is like, the opening sequence of the original game ffs but they dont feel at all like friends... if u have a pink island u have cookie, if u have a goth island u have muffy.. villagers r just decoration, there to fit the themes now :( they always were, to some extent, but it feels amplified now that u can design ur whole island

- the lack of furniture & weird clothes from prior games have made the game lose more charm. people laugh at u for using the same furniture but its like, we dont have much to work with if we arent going for a cOtTaGeCoRe island 🤷‍♀️

- i dont like how much it feels like you have to buy the online to get stuff you want, just make it so they're customisable but only with lots of kits or smth. you can call me a cheapskate all u like but i aint paying for a garbage online when it was free in the other games 👀 at the very least qr code reading shouldnt require online, bc it was free in the last game. everyone complains abt pkmn being guilty of this but apparently acnh gets a free pass??? making me pay 20 dollars just to get a lamppost in a different colour is dumb as hell nintendo, smart for u bc u know ppl will give u money, but its still dumb

- replacing npcs with menus may be convenient but it also loses more charm the series has, i was honestly hoping for more backstory dialogue like in wild world for the npcs but nope i guess i just have to wait for them to get added back for their usual functions. "whats that? u wanna hear abt katrina? where shes from? well u cant do that but you can wait for anywhere inbetween the *3 years* we said we'd update the game for just for her to be the exact same as she was in new leaf, enjoy :)"

- the fact that it took fan outrage to get save backups is pathetic, i cant believe nintendo didnt think that a game that ur designed to spend YEARS playing would need backup lol

- turn the waterfall noises down nintendo i beg of you

the game definitely feels the most charmless out of all the animal crossing games bc of all of these combined reasons, not to say the devs didnt work hard on it bc they clearly did... but everything just feels so.. idk, clean? like the dialogue is safe & clean & lacks a lot of weirdness & whimsy the dialogue in the older games could have. the graphics are pretty & clean... most of the furniture & clothes are pretty & clean, generic wooden furniture & plants & plain couches... the music is v clean & pretty... in the older games the ost was not afraid to sound sad, even spooky sometimes at night, but theres none of that in new horizons. it just feels... stripped of personality & uniqueness that made the games so charming to me? end rant anyway lol
