Back in early January we asked your opinion about an Eye Community Car Sharing scheme. We thank all who commented on this project, you gave a great insight into what your thoughts were. Eye Town Council has taken the time to look at the cost and available funding for this project. The findings were that this would cost in excess of £15,000 a year to run the scheme, plus set up costs for parking bays on street. With no additional funding available and without support from Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Council this cost was too high to add to the council tax burden in this economic climate. However Good News Eye Town Council are offering a car share system. #semirelated and #i love cars but #i really want governments to subsidize public transit #and discourage suburban sprawl instead of subsidizing electric cars #electric cars may have no tailpipe emissions #but that doesn't fix the fact that every suburb in America is basically just roads with some houses attached #and people need to commute long distances to go literally anywhere #you know what helps the environment more than electric cars? not needing to drive at all because it's affordable to live in a city #where you can walk most places #and use public transit to go most other places #and use ridesharing/carsharing when neither works #personal
