your dad disappears when you're a kid and you find out he's leaving cause an angel kidnapped him and is using his body. because of this your mom goes mad and leaves too. weren't angels supposed to be guardians? your daddy taught you that. you don't ever hear from your dad anymore, some postcards from your mom. your grandparents die and you're alone in the foster care system. several years later, you see your dad again. he's aged and he looks fine, but actually he's dead, the angel killed him and is still using his body. the only people you thought you could call family sell you out, and are murdered in cold blood by the angel's killing machine friend. you find your mom. she'd been a prisoner for two years and another angel had been feeding on her soul. she immediately sacrifices herself for you. the next day you forgive him (he still looks like your dad) and he and his friends offer to help you. they make sure you have a house and a nice woman to take care of you. he took away your family. but he also gave you a new one. you're happy now. you can't help but start loving him too. how can you love the one that ruined your life, without thinking about it once? he's changed now, he's a totally different person. but he still looks like your dad. i wonder: how much of claire's love for cas is just love for her father, placed in the next best thing?

Claire gives Cas a haircut. It's fraught. This is a love that lasts forever. Here's the opening:

The room's tense. Most rooms with Claire in them end up being tense, Cas has found, although it may be the combination of he and Claire together that makes things this way. The only time he's heard her laugh - really laugh, not just an emphasised exhale - she had been three rooms away at Jody's house, before she knew Cas had come over. She makes him call ahead, now, so he hasn't heared it since. 

There are memories, of course: the giggly little girl on the merry go round; the 11 year old pulling faces through the rearview mirror together until she couldn't keep it together from smiling too hard; the baby who opened her eyes from a nap and started laughing with delight just to see his face. But, those memories don't belong to Castiel. They're Jimmy's. To take courage or comfort from them would be a clear and cruel violation. 

Claire in the present works on her denim jacket silently, repairing a tear from the wolf-man they'd hunted earlier with a thick, black thread. Her jacket is heavily patched, some repairs just thread and others covered over with logos and images. Cas had thought he recognised AC/DC in the mix, but when he'd pointed it out that morning Claire had just scoffed and rolled her eyes, so maybe he's wrong. 

The way she sews is harsh, tugging the needle through the same way she pulled her knife out of the wolf-man's body. Cas has seen her do it gently before - stitching up a wound on Alex with precision and care even as they bickered viciously about who's fault it was that they'd got caught in the first place, and when applying a patch that Donna had got her that said "MAMA'S LITTLE BEAR <3" on it. Right now, though, she's mad. She has every right to be.

claire and cas are so like. this divine entity sort of kind of kills your father but he's really nice and he didn't exactly mean to kill your father. and your father did consent to be taken but he didn't know what he was agreeing to. the terms weren't clear. and the divine entity even ended up possessing you for a second but your father took back the burden so you wouldn't have to. your father was a casualty in a war neither of you even knew was going on. and then after he died the divine entity continued to wear your father's face and body. and you want to hate him, you want to tell yourself this- this thing killed your dad, and is taunting you with his face. and you do hate him. but he's kind. and he didn't mean to. and he got you a grumpy cat plushie from the hot topical. and he wears a tie because you said you liked him better in it. and he cares, and he's sorry. and you hate him. but he's all you've got. and he's not your dad, but in a fucked up way he is family. and it takes a while to admit this to yourself but you like him. he's kind, and he's trying, and you'll never stop hating him. but you know him. you were him. and you love him. and you're not sure if this feeling of being torn apart is ever going to stop.

I am Never Not Thinking about how Claire watched both her parents walk out on her and that became her coping mechanism for the rest of her life. Literally any time she reaches any point of emotional vulnerability she's like "hmm. Bye!" And she spent 2 years coming and going missing in the foster system and then she kept running away from Cas and then she ran away from Jody at least twice and.

And Cas was the only one to come back for her. To track her down time and time again and say you can run away again if you want but if you want I can find you again.

supernatural movie reboot but its a ghostfacers mockumentary about their attempt to make a “serious film” about sam and dean winchester. opens on ed and harry going “CUT!” and the camera pans to a guy that looks kind of like jared padalecki pulling off a party city wig. turns out the finale was actually part of the ghostfacer’s retelling of supernatural. Sam Dean and Castiel spend the entire movie chasing after ed and harry trying to stop the thing being made. (its a huge commercial success and they screen it at the destiel wedding)
