audio commentary of potd pt 1:
the bullet train bit at the start initially was the idea for a new years episode but they couldnt get like the sets in time so they had to rethink. the scene we see in potd was basically like the climax of that would-have-been episode
jodie: the really handy thing about these is that the masks steamed up within seconds of putting them on. fgkjhgkjgh
it's the first time mandip is seeing the episode this is like a month before they aired it? chris asks if it's like she imagined and shes like no it's way quicker (thatd be because they cut out hALF THE LINES no im kidding im kidding fghkjhh)
this episode wasnt even gonna exist? they were gonna do six episodes of flux and two specials and then when they'd just started filming flux (start of 2021?) they got asked to do another one for the centennary/to give the next team a bit more time
calling up sophie and janet to ask them to come back they both said like "i think tegan would be big friends with ace" "i think ace would be massive friends with tegan" like separately <3
about ace's costume: mandip: we both had doc martens on! so, yaz is cool, as well jodie: (just making it about you.) (youre not in this scene this isnt about you)
jodie stole the little ashad from timeless children
jodie asks if chris had ever any ideas to kill of any of the companions and he says no but both john bishop and bradley walsh asked if they could be killed off?? and he was like no guys this is about yaz and the doctor
"this lovely street in wales that is not liverpool" <3
during that reunion scene with ace and tegan, chris talks about how in 70s 80s doctor who and unit and how he hadnt really realised while doing it that what theyve ended up with here is that like every leading character in unit is a woman now? he talks about how like the doctor becomes a woman and you can then sort of see the full effect of that in the reunion scene here where it's just like all women
jodie about the reunion scene: i always wanted to react as 13, but then only in this episode i was met with people who had interacted with other doctors. so do you try and react in a way appropriate for them and their doctor? but i always wanted to do 13. it was always a bit complicated especially later on with the ai.
chris asked who were their favourite guest stars to work with and the entire conversation derails into just listing everyone and saying how much fun they had
jodie obviously has seen the full episode before this and she keeps teasing mandip abt it like going "oh we talked over half that scene now you have no any idea of whats going on" and then at the scene where the master talks to ace and tegan from the unit jail she slaps her like "watch this watch this watch this this is a good bit watch this!" and they watch a bit in silence and then chris goes "you just shushed her in a commentary to go 'watch this this is a really good bit'" it's specifically the bit where ashad grows and all the cybermen come out and mandip goes "oh that is good" and then she goes "you know like those russian dolls you get where they all fit inside each other" and jodie goes "thats what it is" and chris goes "thats the plot" im looosing it
jodie slapping mandip again about the rasputin scene "watch this" they watch a bit of the scene and then chris giggles and mandip goes "whens his bit coming on" chris: youre just pointing at the screen, jodie. it's at the end of the scene jodie: oh. chris: hes explaining the plot jodie: oh hes explaining the plot chris: and then hes gonna play the music thats how it works

Beautiful photos of Montez Sisters sent to their Spanish cousin Armando Gracia Sanfiel.
On the left we can see the four sisters: Adita, Consuelo, Teresita and Lucita's beautiful photos they sent to their Spanish cousin Armando Gracia Sanfiel. Adita, Consuelo and Lucita's photos where sent through María Montez in 1944 as she was the one from the family who wrote long and loving letters to him, as far as I know they never met in person but they kept a beautiful correspondence.
On the right we can see a photo of María taken in 1941 and sent to her cousin Armando. Maria went to Canary Islands in 1930 when her father didn't want she got married to William McFeeters, who was 20 years her senior, and the only thing she knew about Spain was Tenerife, that's why she always wrote long letters to her cousin Armando (who lived in Madrid) asking him about Teruel and Canary Islands as she wanted to know the origins of her ancestors and the diversity of landscapes and life Spain had.
Teresita's photo was taken in 1952 when she travelled to Madrid to make a film and the beautiful thing is that she met her cousin Armando and gave him this beautiful photo taken by Ibañez, a Spanish photographer who always took photos of the cinema stars back in the day.
These beautiful photos arrived to me by mail, and I thank @74paris for sending me these very special gems which are copies from the originals. These photos were given to Antonio Perez Arnay by Armando Gracia Sanfiel as they were friends and Armando knew Antonio wanted to write a book about María Montez, which eventually did in 1995, however in the first book edition, these photos were not included, but Antonio Perez Arnay kept them and wanted to publish them in a second edition of his book "María Montez, La Reina del Tecnicolor" to celebrate María's birth centennary. Sadly Antonio passed away the 1st January 2012 and could never fulfill his dream. Instead, these photos were displayed in María Montez exhibit in Canary Islands back in 2012 but that's not what Antonio wanted...
My friend @74paris went to this exhibit and saw these great and beautiful photos and after long letters, long calls and lots of adventures he could have a copy of them for him and another one for me!! I feel really lucky, happy and fortunate to have them. They are a treasure and I will keep them such as that.

Tumblr media
The following fan art that is meant to celebrate the centennary of The Walt Disney Company asks the following question, "What if Mickey Mouse as depicted in Plane Crazy meets André (André & Wally B.)?"
In my opinion, the result is a confrontation between two cartoon characters. Mickey Mouse (left) is seen staring at André (right), as the former appears to treat him like an outsider due to the fact that cartoon characters from the early 20th century are generally anthropomorphic animals.
It is wholeheartedly true that André is inspired by Mickey Mouse, specifically the design that was used for Plane Crazy and The Gallopin' Gaucho. Aside of species, what differentiates André from Mickey Mouse is that the former debuted in a computer animated short film whereas the latter first appeared in a black-and-white traditionally animated short film?
And yes, this isn't the first time that there is a unofficial crossover of The Adventures of André & Wally B. with the Mickey Mouse universe. To sum up, I decided to post this piece of fan art to celebrate Disney 100 as well as Mickey Mouse's fate to enter the public domain.
Mickey Mouse © The Walt Disney Company (copyright and trademark holder), Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks (creators). However, older versions of Mickey Mouse will have entered the public domain by January 1, 2024. André > The Adventures of André & Wally B. © Pixar (formerly Lucasfilm Computer Graphics) and Lucasfilm (both owned by The Walt Disney Company)
UPDATE (occurred at January 2, 2024): Six days after this post was uploaded, I managed to fix some oversights that were found at the time it was originally posted. This is the first time I could edit a post that I had uploaded before.

POV: You’re Eugène Valdruche, hospital director in Paris, the year is 1889 (centennary of the Revolution!) and you’re burying your mother in the Duplay grave in the Père-Lachaise because your grandfather is already buried there (he was a friend of Jacques-Maurice Duplay, and the father of his second wife)
Your mum is the 3rd Valdruche to be buried there (there’s already her father-in-law/your grandfather, and your aunt/her sister-in-law, Jacques Maurice’s second wife)
The only inscription on the grave is “Eléonore Duplay”
No one will ever know Valdruches are buried there, unless they do extensive researches
But you’re burying your mother with Robespierre’s alleged fiancée. The grave’s gonna get classified as “historically relevant”, and it will never be emptied and resold.

just came across a facebook post by my middle school biology teacher about being nonbinary and honestly good for her (pronouns accurate).
This person is such an icon for me: definitely the most passionate and creative teacher in my middle school and one of the best school teachers I've ever met. (Also gave us great sex education - almost all teachers I've met/heard of sucked at it, unsurprisingly). A few years later she moved to the countryside to start a small permacultural farm and seemed so happy when we met at the school's centennary. Living the dream etc

Am I going to have to unfollow all Doctor Who related blogs as we get closer to the Centennary
People getting excited about all these beloved characters returning like they're not going to be flat and boring as fuck and also have their whole character arcs retroactively ruined

Isidoro Gracia García, María Montez dad and Tina Aumont grandad was born in Garafia the 3rd April 1873.
To celebrate his birthday and as a tribute, here you have a page for him in the Family section.
The information displayed here is possible thanks to @74paris who has done a great research on the subject, the biography comes from an article written by Canarian historian and researcher María Victoria Hernández Pérez called "Los orígenes turolenses y canarios de la actriz de Hollywood María Montez" and was displayed at María Montez exhibition ("María Montez, de la Palma a Hollywood") held in La Palma to celebrate her centennary. Very special thanks to Cabildo de la Palma for sharing this special information with us.

I might need to spent a night in Lyon in July (to take a train from the Perrache train station early in the morning) so I'm looking up hotels and getting annoyed everytime I see one located on the Place Carnot, because that place had many many names (the most neutral one being Place Perrache, after the engineer who kick started the expansion of Lyon southern on the rivers) but for the centennary of the Revolution they renamed it after Lazare Carnot of all people!!! (probably to please his grandson Sadi Carnot, then President) and I just uuuuuuugh
