- Martha Jones x Chantho - 221 words - can also be read on archive of our own! https://archiveofourown.org/works/52861960 description: Martha Jones decides to see how Chantho will react to a unique human treat - marshmallows.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Chan, what is it, tho?” Chantho held up the squishy object and held it up to her eyes, inspecting it closely. She squished it a few times between her fingers, feeling the unique texture.
“It’s called a marshmallow!” Martha smiled. “Well, these ones are bigger than they normally come, but I prefer the jumbo ones.”
“Chan, what does it do, tho?”
“You eat it!”
“Chan, you… eat it, tho?” Chantho looked a bit perplexed, but she trusted Martha. Without knowing any better, she put the whole jumbo marshmallow into her mouth at once, which caused Martha to giggle.
Chantho’s eyes widened at the experience. She’s never eaten anything with a texture like this before. As she chewed, her expression switched back and forth between perplexion and enjoyment.
After she swallowed, she remarked, “Chan, it’s so… fluffy, tho!”
Martha chuckled at that description. “I s’pose it is, yeah.”
“Chan, I liked it, tho! Chan, thank you for letting me try it, tho!”
“Anytime! It’s not too sweet for you?”
Chantho shook her head. “Chan, not at all, tho! Chan, I quite like it, tho!”
“Oh wonderful!” Martha smiled. “Here, have another.” Martha held another marshmallow up and playfully put it into Chantho’s mouth, before eating one herself. It was nice to be sharing one of her favorite sweets with someone she loved.

Let's write a dw episode and choose some companions for the 10th Doctor (step 2)
We are writing a dw episode with the 9th, the 10th and the 13th Doctor and are currently figuring out their respective companions.
The last poll determined that most people want the companion of the tenth Doctor to come from the post-Rose Tyler-Era. So, in this poll I will present you some options from that era and you will decide who you want to accompany the Doctor the most.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once the poll is analysed you will then get to put together your companion team from the most popular options!
If I forgot someone vital, please let me know in the tags and they might just make it into the final round ;)
Check the reblogs for the 9th and 13th Doctor polls. Or alternatively look at the poll-who episode tag.
I'd be very grateful for a reblog <3

I know we know next to nothing about the Malmooth (Chantho's people) and their politesse protocol, but of what little we do know it can be gained that they say the first and the last part of their names around whatever they say. And I really hope one of them is called Fuckyou and that some day we will meet them.
Companion: So what's your name?
Fuckyou: Fuck, Fuckyou, you :)
Companion: Sorry, just asking...
Fuckyou: Fuck, excuse me, you? :(
The Doctor: *not intervening :3*

[The Master would have more platonic companions instead of it always being someone he's involved with if he were a better person. And by that I don't mean "he doesn't care about people platonically because he's evil." I mean "he doesn't have anything to offer people platonically because he's evil." It's specifically a him problem and the way he draws people in.
He has two types of ally:
I'm powerful, you're powerful, we both have something to gain from making a business deal.
I'm powerful and I need a minion to do my dirty work.
With the second type of ally, he frequently draws them in by being flirtatious. There's exceptions to this, of course, (Chang Lee, notably.) Sometimes he'll trick them into thinking that he's going to give them power, despite getting nothing in return, but this does work the best with younger, more naive companions. He doesn't actually want to share or actually want to go out of his way for anyone if it doesn't have some gain for him.
He's generally a handsome, confident, person across all regenerations; it's easy for him to flirt with someone and then either have them in a position of "you'll get an equal share of the goods from this scheme because I love you" (which they'll believe because they want to believe it, and then he can throw them under the bus when the time comes) or "you have a crush on me: maybe if you work really, really hard it'll impress me and we can be more than this."
Sometimes he'll slip up and catch actual feelings in these little manipulations, but it's never the original plan.]

We do NOT give Jackie Tyler and Mickey Smith their props for their character growth in the Parting of the Ways. Rose is absolutely amazing, an absolute ferocious beacon of hope and stubbornness and bravery in the finale, the absolute reason why the Doctor lives and the world is saved and an equal hero to Nine, but she has a moment of doubt. A moment of hesitancy.
And Mickey Smith and Jackie Tyler step in and help her save the day. Both Mickey and Jackie give up on their idea of Rose and their hatred of the Doctor and help her pull open the TARDIS. Even within this one episode we see them struggle with their feelings and decide to put them aside and help do this because Rose is right- this is a better way of living your life.
Doctor Who is about ordinary people making extraordinary decisions and making themselves extraordinary and this doesn't just apply to official companions (who I love with all my might)- it applies to the people they love, too. We see it over and over again in Davies' era, with Jackie and Mickey and Sylvia and Tish and Wilfred and Francine and Harriet Jones and every one-off character as well, from Lynda-with-a-Y to Jabe to Gwyneth to Novice Hame to McDonnell to Sally to Chantho to Nancy to all the rest.
Doctor Who is at its strongest when the story is focused on the strength of the bleeding, beating heart of humanity (and character in general, in its non-humans), when the characters drive the story, when at the end of the day you understand why, for all of the world's flaws, the Doctor comes back over and over again because of people like this- not just his companions, but the Jackies and Mickeys and all the rest of the world.
